I like all the changes, including new options for Clown. Really like the idea of the Dev Diary as well.
My only concern is the terminology in Clown's new power. I think it is odd to include a direct benefit to survivors in the Killer Power.
It is not the same as Plague or missing a chainsaw. Just makes me nervous for future Killer powers.

I am waiting for @TheClownIsKing to weigh in. I trust their judgment lol

Interesting,i already imagined that the new bottle type will be some sort of movement increase.
I'm sure it will open up some really fun gameplay possibilities :)
Is it possible to say how long it takes to switch between the bottle types?
I believe it is instant. Reloading is now 3 secs instead of 5.

"It’s an extremely powerful effect with a drawback if used incorrectly."
This is a really important sentence - 10% movement Speed increase for the Clown is HUGE, but you cant throw your bottles like a madman to avoid giving the Survivors an advantage. So big effect with a potential drawback.
When it comes to "lurking Survivors into deadzones"; I am not really sure if that will really work. BUT I guess those skillful chase interactions are better done by people who are far more experienced than me when playing Clown.
Good points.
I want to clarify I am glad Clown has more mechanics and choices. My qualm is that this is a dangerous precedence for Killer Powers IMO.
This doesn't read the same as missing a chainsaw or blink and being punished for it. This power directly helps survivors who meet the right circumstances. I do not think a Killer power should ever have an inherit benefit to survivors mixed in to the terminology.

Do you have 4 bottles of the tonic AND the antidote or do they share the same resource?
Yes, they share the same resource. You can swap and reloading gives you 4 back.

It doesn't just increase the speed of the suvivors, it increases the speed of any player affected by that gas - so for one it's a great way of crossing the map as the Clown, it can also be used skillfully in chases, it can be used to try to bait a survivor to go where you want them to go for example.
I understand Clown can use this for himself. I am curious to know what circumstance you would ever want to increase survivors movement speed.

To be consistant among all perks. Most perks work with basic attacks now. And it's easier then looking at each case and just having a rule with tons of exceptions.
That said it would have been better if knockout worked like infectious fright and just trigger on the getting downed rather then the hitting
Most perks make sense that they only trigger off basic attacks. No one is expecting STBFL to trigger off a chainsaw or Clown Bottle.
The problem is that slugging people can be done in a variety of ways, and changing this perk to only work on basic attacks disproportionately affects some killer's more than others, including the Killer who the perk comes from.
The whole point of teachable perks is to interact with a variety of Killer's. Changes like this do the exact opposite.

Was about to say that (even though I've said it before) He's the "boss" and the "shout caller", and his streams and responses are always so arrogant (don't know if the means to be arrogant or just phrase it wrong) but he does NOT pass the vibe that he's a good listener and takes well criticism
When Mcote has to gently correct him that "Stats are not everything", they got some major communication issues internally.

I doubt Almo is the only person who has a say on the balance team to be honest, it's called a balance team for a reason. I don't agree with his takes either, but painting him as the only person who can balance things seems incorrect.
He is the Lead Designer. Do you honestly think the rest of the team are going to disregard what their superior believes and act on it?
Yeah I understand one person doesn't make all the decisions but If the LEAD designer is saying these things, it is indicative of a bigger problem.

Exactly. please refer to the 2 fat shaming spots on Pale Rose. Still there, map not disabled after months?
Why? It only affects Killers so who cares?

Don't worry, the person in charge of game balance decided that this perk is perfectly okay.
Granted he's been getting dunked on by the community because of his reliance on stats instead of also considering how it feels to go against something.
Also, "Clown isn't bad, he's actually underrated". And now Clown is being reworked.
The disconnect between what he says and what is reality is just comical at this point.

@Almo said:
We don't want it triggering on getting downed by an addoned Bear Trap, or going down to Deep Wound, etc. It's better game design if we don't start stacking up a series of exceptions.
I'd love to see the Holy Stats on how often this perk is used now that it has been changed.
My guess is close to 0%.

Why not just, ya know, dedicate one of your 4 perks to a totem perk like killers usually donate one or MORE to Gen Slow Perks?
I never said there wasn't options or perks to assist you. I was answering the question as to why some survivors find it oppressive or difficult.
Just another huge problem with this community; No one listens to each other and just assumes they are targeting the "other side"
-
The totem locations, particularly on the new or reworked maps, can be difficult to find.
I recall an Otz video where a totem was on the edge of the map, inside a crate facing the wall. It was completely invisible.
"Do bones" is correct; but while survivors are running around looking for totems, the killer is (usually) gaining pressure through chases and hooks. As a solo survivor, it can really spiral out of control quickly unless the totems are found quickly (refer to above)
-
Charms are a ridiculous cosmetic that the developers can throw out and feel good about themselves for giving out "freebies".
-
Yes, all the associated maps get updated.
Crotus Prenn Asylum is the location; the variants are: Disturbed Ward and Father Cambell's Chapel.
Same with the MacMillian update; they only showed a few pics but the entire MacMillian estate location was updated.
-
Sounds like you are burnt out from the game. I would just take a break until at least mid chapter patch. I sympathize as I get burnt out occasionally too.
We all know there are issues with the meta perks and such, but if you desire the "ring around the rosie" game to change, you will be waiting a long time.
You have to understand survivors are just trying to play the game and have fun too. Aside from SWF and bullying, most survivors are just maximizing their chances of escape to have fun and keep playing. Hanging on the hook or being slugged sure isn't fun either but it is a part of the game we need to accept.
-
A sea-creature/Lovecraft themed Killer would be very cool.

For me, stats are my way of breaking out of group think. It's easy to get caught up in group think and with stats I personally have to evaluate my opinions against those stats. Should I have them or do I need them, no. Do I want them, very much yes.
That is fair. And I understand you wanting them for your personal info.
The danger is many people might look at stats and jump to conclusions. I say again, they have their use and it is a good overview of the current situation.
But there are a lot of variables. Escaping through gates, hatch. hatch w/ key? Killing by hooking, bleeding out, PH cages, Mori's, suiciding on hook or just good ol' fashion DC. These can all be considered "kills" but it would be inaccurate at the very least and affects their desired 50/50 Kill/Escape ratio.

Which anti-fun addons? The slowdown addons got nerfed. They are only 2% and 4%. And the purple has max 8% slowdown.
They are no bad addons but they make no much of a difference.
I think you are forgetting it stacks with Thata and Dying Light; a common perk combo for Freddy.
I am not going to hunt down the numbers but this has been discussed in depth by many people. It's not an opinion, it is fact.

Stats are facts, Stats are not balance. The stats that show nurse having the lowest kill rates is simply stating a fact. It's when people decide to extrapolate that data to support their opinion that things go wrong. You can't simply buff nerf just because the average nurse player plays poorly. However, Freddy having a 74 percent kill rate at red ranks is unacceptable. Even if that kill rate is due to survivors committing suicide, that's still an indicator that something is wrong. It's also worth noting that if the goal of balance is to have a 50 percent escape rate across all ranks, then by definition the game is killer sided because globally the escape rate is 56 percent (as of the date when the stats were released) And changes need to be applied to all killers to get that to line up with a proper 50 percent escape rate for survivors.
Like I said, Stats have their place. Giving them to players is irrelevant and will simply cause confusion and spread of misinformation.
What would showing players stats on everything actually do, in your opinion?
-
Have to agree with @Aven_Fallen. The stats are already being touted incorrectly by the Devs, let alone the player base. They are also highly skewed (Freddy with a huge Kill rate isn't taking into account people just give up versus anti-fun add-ons.)
Stats have their place but they are being heavily overused when this game has way too many variables.
-
I would like it to trigger regardless if gates are open.
Would stop that 99% gates.
-
Welcome to the world of advertising. As long as they are not openly lying or being disingenuous, it is up to the consumer.
I do wish they offered some free skins every now and then. And no, I am not talking about Rift grind-fests. They have enough cosmetics to throw a free one out every now and again.
League of Legends does this, Dota does it. It works.
-
The best Killer is provided to you for free (Nurse).
You also get some rather high skill-ceiling Killer's like Billy and Huntress.
It is definitely not pay to win. Pay for preference.

Killers shouldn't be forced to equip gen slowdown perks in order to have a decent match.
Thank God someone understands this. The fact that there are 25 generator related perks for Killer is an indication something is wrong.

They have a small Customer Service team. It will take awhile.
They prioritize different things I imagine. While it is super frustrating for you (I completely get it), it isn't the same level as other problems.
Everyone I have seen gets their progress restored; it just takes a long time. Not the answer anyone wants to hear but it is what is it.

As far as I know Clown was announced to the killer that gets the next rework, and there is no information about Plague.
Did I miss something or is this Tweet just random and has no meaning?
Maybe it is in reference to the next maps being updated? Maybe the Red Forest maps are next? (Plague's home map).
That is all I can think of.
-
The swamp maps are a mess.
Two fat-shaming spots on Pale Rose that is a known issue. But it only affects Killer gameplay so that will probably get fixed in 1-2 years.
-
Sorry for your experience. My boyfriend had almost the exact same experience. He bought the game because he loves Nightmare on Elm Street and wanted to play Freddy.
After two games of intense bullying, he uninstalled. Yeah, no one expects to be amazing right away.
But you expect to have fun in a game you paid for, and not be subjected to bullying.
This game is terribly cruel on new players and I blame the matchmaking system
-
When Almo mentioned he knows the chapters coming 4 chapters in advance, I lost all hope.
How can they ever plan to balance and fix their game if they are fixated on chapter releases?
Yeah, maybe a bigger company could do both at the same time but this one cannot. By the time the next chapter comes out, they are already putting their time investment into the next...and the next. I won't even talk about how they are going to fix the problem the chapter itself causes *cough Twins cough*.
-
I respectfully disagree. I think the change to Tinkerer was pretty much perfect. They buffed the numbers while retaining what the perk does. I want whoever was in charge of buffing this perk to continue with other perks.
Yeah it is a strong perk. I think both sides need strong perks. I wish they would make similar changes to almost all the perks and remove non sense requirements and/or cooldowns.

It's not even like Legion is good, he's annoying so people just yeet out the match.
Exactly. This is not a discussion about "Legion is in the middle of the pack". He is simply unfun to play against with the very tedious mending mechanic.
-
@Rivyn said:
If Legion is boring, what do you feel about Plague? She's just Legion on steroids.
Exactly like @OniWantsYourMacaroni said. Yeah, it's similar to Legion but there is also the fountain mechanic. You can choose to heal or just do gens injured.
There is no option for Legion. Mend or go down.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Tbh I find I only have to mend a few times a match against him and it takes about as long as it does to do a totem....given that's like his own power I don't really have a problem with it. I mean dealing with a pig bear trap takes far more time than mending does all game I find. It's just a more interesting way of going about it; so in that sense I find him more boring too of course.
Overall though he is an underwhelming killer.
"But statistics put him on average for a killer" Okay yeah because if survivors group up or the map is small he is great; but if everyone spawns on opposite sides of Shelter woods or mother's dwelling or something it's basically GG.
Pig trap at least has some fun interaction, limited traps, etc.
I agree, there is counter play and option. Just a very unfun experience as a survivors versus optimal Legion. Least with Nurse or Spirit, the pain is over quickly lol

@chieften333 said:
Personally I feel that wraith as a whole is an outdated killer, even with the quality of life changes he's recieved. As well as the light burn mechanic that can counter him, unless he has uncloak time addons that enable him to exit before he gets burned.
Edit: another thing I can think of is the godawful killer FOV.
What do y'all feel is outdated and needs updating with survivors and killers?
I think Shadow Burn is the most outdated mechanic.
It is from the days when there were literally 4 killers. There is no reason to punish Wraith and Nurse (don't @ me) anymore.
-
Legion.
Concept was fun in the trailer but he is the most boring and unfun Killer I have ever played.
Getting power punished for basic attacking as a Killer is comical.
"But Legion is fine"- Legion's concept Creator.

I still hate the fact that OoO, one of the most antifun perks in the game, is not getting changed because "stats". Same thing with Legion, one of the most underwhelming killers to play as and one of the most boring to go against.

I keep trying to upvote this twice lol.

I have seen a normal kobe when the killer had this perk on, I honestly don't think it does anything other than make the sacrifice ever so slightly faster.
Yeah, 15% more difficult on an already low 4% chance of escape means it's reducing the chance by less than 1%. I can see normal kobe's still happening.
I am just curious as Deliverance specifically says "100% chance". Just a curiosity.

but that's what the official wiki says: https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Beast_of_Prey
So it does.
My mistake. Thank you for correction.
Regardless, an awful perk that should never be learned or used. There should never be a situation or perk that requires to be actively losing a chase.
My change to the perk would be your red stain is hidden until you injure a survivor and it goes on Cooldown. Still wouldn't use it though :)
-
@lagosta said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1846789#Comment_1846789
The main benefit is disabling the red stain, but I think the terror radius in also disabled so the survivors cannot track distance by the frequency of the heartbeat. It could serve a purpose for inexperienced killers that don't know how to moonwalk well I guess.
Your terror radius is unaffected by this perk. Otherwise, it would simply give you the "Undetectable" status effect, which hides the stain and your terror radius. It does not. If it did, it would be a better perk. Still garbage though.
-
Would be cool to see an additional effect like "When they leave your aura reading range, their aura continues to show for 2/3/4 seconds" or something.
-
@lagosta said:
Would Beast of Prey of Prey be OP or abusable if granted the undetectable upon entering chase instead of being tied to bloodlust?
It would certainly improve this terrible perk, but in no way would it be OP. A very small improvement.
Yeah, it would allow some mind games if your line of sight to the killer was broken, but you still hear their terror radius during chases and the unique killer noises they make (Trapper breathing, Hag gurgling, etc.). Smart survivors don't rely on the red stain as good killers can also abuse this.
This perk needs an entire rework along with many others. As it changed recently, I doubt it will get a rework in the foreseeable future.
-
I do not think it would translate well into DbD. Just my opinion though.
-
This was brought up in Dev stream a year or so ago regarding Red Forest having the rain weather effect.
They said it would be quite difficult to do other weather effects as the Red Forest one took a lot of effort.
They have been doing minor weather effects since. Lery's has drifting snow, and Ormand has very pretty flurries.

I've started playing her alot since Christmas and I've been enjoying her alot. Whenever I play survivor however, I never see her ever. Ik shes considered an annoying chatacter but do other people main her?
I mained her for a solid 3 weeks. It was fun but I stopped for a few reasons:
-Slugging isn't fun, particularly for survivors. Slugging is without a doubt the best way to play this Killer. Without doing this, she was really an M1 killer.
-Punishment for mistakes are high and you lose a lot of time. This leads to the last point.
-While it was fun initially, it really loses a lot of luster quickly. Victor isn't as fun to control as it seems. Hitboxes are generous up close, but punishing to try any sort of ranged pounce. Not to mention you can be hard countered by some windows (Haddonfield balcony is actually impossible)
Amazing art and concept, but lack luster game play mostly. It is not hard to see why no one plays her.

There are some perks that can increase Killer speed, but very few.
NOED and Play with your Food are the only two I can think of. Devour Hope is supposed to after 2 stacks but it has been bugged since release. May have been fixed recently but I haven't noticed it.
It could be your own pathing. There is an interesting video "just holding W" on Scott Jund's channel is you want to know more.

Definitly going to take a perk or two and try to learn though. Thank you!
