U Just said the Most counters to it If survs do Like you said No Aura No snowballig right? And Low Level survs will learn and geht gud right ?

    That was hard to read.

we all know that not all low level survs will learn and git gud. And if my suggestion would result in killers camping then by your logic they will get genrushed by experienced survs and get a 4 man escape. So the problem of camping would get solved and killers need to git gud.

also I never said ‚no aura no snowball‘ I said that snowball potential would be smaller.

  • sorry but this logic can already be used now against its currently implementation. you already got all stacks for the BP and you may not see all auras because lockers, or hiding behind a gen.

and I have seen plenty of killers camping right from the beginning even though they run BBQ.

  • As long as it has some twist or limitation, yes. Something like locker teleportation has often been suggested (I liked the idea to give Ghostface this ability, as in scream he often hides in closets or something and jump out; also Candyman would make sense to have some teleport power utilizing mirrors)

  • I don’t think making it a Hex perk would be a good solution.

IMO BBQ‘s aura reading could need some adjustments so it doesn’t give high mobility killers a free chase/hit but should be useful for low mobility killers..

i once suggested that it may only reveal the auras of survivors that haven’t been hooked, as this would be more in line with the bonus bp effect of the perk and wouldn’t create such a big snowball potential against lower skilled survs.

  • Mashing buttons is just bad and outdated game design. I hope they will change the wiggling just like the struggling soon

    I wouldn’t mind a toggle option though

  • There is an update supposed to come on the 27nd which should address performance issues. Hopefully they also figured out what to do with the map until then

  • It is enabled in normal rotation. Don’t know if the probability is a little lower than other maps though.

the offering is disabled though, as there are still some issues for consoles I think..

  • Dies wurde wohl zeitweise entfernt. Wahrscheinlich weil mit dem Resident Evil Kapitel so viele Crashes und Performance Probleme entstandene sind

  • my concept for this turned out a little weird and I don’t know if I would create it like this again but here it is (I think I like the perks more than the power):

    The Photographer

    Backstory bits:

    • the photographer always wanted to make pictures of models for the top magazines or for the big commercials but was always considered a freak, models did not want to work with him
    • needed to make money for a living so started as a crime scene photographer
    • started to get obsessed with the crime scenes, got ideas how to make them „better“, started first to manipulate the crime scenes.
    • someday coming across one of the models, he just needed to make a perfect crime scene with her as a model...

    Power: Photography

When clicking the button to activate his photocamera, the photographer will make a picture and everthing that is moving in a radius of x meter around him will stand still:

gens can’t be worked on, lockers can’t be opened (even when a survivor is in it), pallets can’t be thrown (edit: like that Blight Hex perk, which was introduced later) etc. Survivors will be stuck for a very short amount of time but then can immediately run again and vault, but can’t interact with something that needs to be moved (gens, lockers, chests. The Killer can’t interact with those either, so no breaking pallets, searching lockers etc. Additionally survivors in the terror radius get shortly blinded like from a flashlight. This power is on a cooldown.

    Perk 1: Say ‚cheese‘

You know when exactly you need to take the shot, if the model is not prepared and gets blinded by the flashlight, it’s not your fault. Or is it?

Hitting a survivor will blind them for a very short time/makes them see stars/flickering lights or making them somewhat dizzy like clowns potions.

    Perk 2: Group picture

Everyone should assemble for a group picture and be seen on it, yes even the shy guy that stands a little off by the bushes.

While chasing one survivor, you can see the auras of survivors within x meters of that chased survivor.

    Perk 3: Perfect crime scene

You have an eye for the perfect scene. Nobody moves when you say it until you have captured that moment.

A downed survivor can not crawl for x seconds. The survivor can still heal up.

Some of my other concepts (Feedback and suggestions always welcome):

Killers: The Ice Queen, Hannibal, Charlie(The Darkness), The Blair Witch, The Firebreather, The Photographer

Survivors: Aria Morrison, Lukas Schmidt, Paitoon Saeli

Survivor Items: Pocket Knife, Sling Shot, Spray Paint Cans, Salt Pouch, Smoke Bomb, Voodoo Doll, Smudge Sticks

Game mechanics: Horror tropes, Expanded survivor objectives, Spider Webs

  • I don’t really know, I just try to compensate while throwing. I do have gyrocontrols on but to be honest, I can’t remember if I used those for Trickster

i haven’t tried throwing 1 knife at a time though, that would take to much time for me

  • playing on Steam but with Controller, and while i haven’t played Trickster for a while the recoil I actually got used to and could compensate, though I definitely didn’t have perfect accuracy. I will give him another chance after the Midchapter buffs.

I am doing okay with Deathslinger, Nemesis, Clown and Plague. Demo, Victor and Pyramidhead it depends..

I can’t hit anything with Huntress, Oni or Blight though, even after getting their adepts/achievements I gave up on those, Trickster is definitely one of the easier controllable for me.

  • I think Chucky is one of the classic slasher killers that deserve a spot in DbD. The devs can create a fitting power to make him work I am sure of that. And while his films had some comedic traits they are still considered horror films. Also the possessed doll is just a horror trope that’s not been implemented in DbD, Chucky is the best fit for it IMO

i don’t see him being added next chapter or even this year though. I am still on Team Candyman.

  • Don’t Starve Together. Charlie with a darkness themed power and probably Wilson as base survivor. Now that legendary skins can have distinct voices it would be possible to get different gendered survivors as skins!

Made a power concept (and @Exerath1992 made a cool follow up loosely based on my idea):

    @Mooks said:

This is a Suggestion for a licensed killer from the survival game Don’t Starve Together by Klei:

Charlie, also known as The Darkness

She is a main antagonist of the game and is the one killing you in the darkness, its why you need some source of light, no other protection or way to fight back is given to the survivors in this game, even though they have weapons against monsters and such.

    Ability:

With her terror-radius, it‘s darker for the survivors, making it harder to see the killer (who is pretty much all black) and obstacles etc. You don’t see the darkness coming and the killer sees everything in normal lighting.

Charlie can make the whole map dark for a while (this will have a cool-down of course). During this she takes the form of Shadow-Charlie in which she is significantly faster. In this darkness she can only attack survivors that are not near a lightsource. Those are the firebarrels and a new item, a torch. The torch can be obtained only during the match at special stations (like plaques fountains or pigs jigsaw boxes). A torch stays lit for a duration of one darkness cycle and can’t be taken with you out of a game. You can’t hold another item with the torch though. (You can also stay hidden or near a barrel for protection if you don’t want to leave your item somewhere).

In the shadow-form, Charlie can be attacked with a flashlight, similar to the burn of Wraith and Nurse you don’t need to shine into the face, but shine at her for a small duration of time. This can end the darkness-cycle sooner but is also risky because you can not have a torch equipped and Charlie is very fast in this mode.

    Weapon: Shadow Hand

Can be used as a normal Weapon or as a long-range weapon. When activated as for long-range, Charlie stays in place and the hand moves forward, attacking a survivor or missing the hit will lead to going back to the killer. While using the long-range-mode, the hand moves with a smaller hitbox and thus moves faster around obstacles and through vaults. Survivors can also cancel this mode by running through the „arm“ of the shadow hand, the connection between killer and the hand.

I haven’t thought about perks yet, maybe I will add them later or you can discuss which perks you want to see for Charlie or general from Don’t starve for killers and survivors.

For a chapter, a survivor can be added as well. Easiest choice would be Wilson, enough skin potential is there from the skins in the game. Other characters wouldn’t make much sense because of the special traits and perks, maybe Winona? I would like to see Wickerbottom but the Insomnia would make no sense going against Freddy I guess!

So let me know what you think about my Charlie idea and discuss possible perks!

edit: The second power of my killer was meant to be somewhat like what shortly came after with the Deathslinger: pulling the survivor to you and other survivors are able to help, i guess its different enough though to still be possible as an ability in the future of DbD

This is a licensed chapter idea from the game Dont Starve (Together) by Klei Entertainment. Original killer idea by Mooks

Map: The constant. A realm with a swamp biome, a forest biome, a desert biome, and a grasslands biome, all patchworked together in an unnatural manner

    Killer: The Shadow

Killer name: Charlie (last name unknown)

Description: A pale lady with a black dress and hair that move like pitch black flame. When shadow cloak is on, these flames move more and her eyes glow red

    Speed: 4.4 meters/second

    Terror radius: 32 meters

    Height: Medium

Mori: The background becomes completely black, and the killer steps back into the shadows. Several glowing eyes start to appear in the darkness. Then a shadow claw flies out of the darkness griping the top of the survivors head, lifting them into the air. A 2nd shadow claw impales the survivor through the abdomen. The first claw then snaps the neck of the survivor before they are dropped back onto the ground

    -------------------------------------------------------

    ~Power: Queen of Shadows~

    -Active power: Shadow claw-

The killer becomes immobile to send out a shadow claw that they control. The power ends and fatigues the killer for 3 seconds if the shadow claw travels 24 meters, collides with anything or if a survivor sprints into the killer. If the shadow claw collides with a light source, the light source is extinguished. If the shadow hand collides with a survivor who is not holding a torch, they suffer from exposed for 30 seconds

    -Alt power: shadow cloak-

The killer can toggle shadow cloak on and off with the alt ability button. When shadow cloak is on, the killer flickers in and out of visibility, the terror radius is reduced by 8 meters and survivors within the terror radius are afflicted with the darkness and oblivious status effects

Darkness: Survivors with the darkness status effect have a darkness filter added to their vision, can not see the killers red stain, and suffer from aura blindness and hindered (10%)

Light sources: The killer can not enter a light radius while shadow cloak is active. Survivors within a light radius are immune from the darkness status effect. There are several bonfires around the map that can be lit by intaracting with them for at least 12 seconds. Bonfires produce a 16 meter light radius that goes down and eventually goes out over 45 seconds. The survivor that lit the bonfire is provided with a 6 meter light radius torch in their off hand that lasts 30 seconds. Generators produce a light radius based on progression

    -Powers notes-

Shadow cloak notes: Toggling shadow cloak immobilizes the killer for 3 seconds. Hitting A survivor with a basic attack turns off shadow cloak. Flashlights can lightburn the killer out of shadow cloak, stunning her for 3 seconds. The oblivious status effect serves to make the killer more difficult to track when within the terror radius but the darkness status effect will still alert survivors to the killers presence. Survivors within a light radius will be unaware of the killers presence due to oblivious, but because the killer can not enter the light radius, they just have to keep an eye out for the shadow claw. Survivors can hear a hissing sound when the killer is within 6 meters that grows louder as the killer gets closer

Shadow claw notes: The shadow hand moves at 3.6 meters/second if traveling through a light radius, otherwise it moves at 4.4 meters/second. The power can be cancelled with the power button, avoiding the fatigue. Generator lights that have been extinguished re-light after 30 seconds. The shadow claws arm trails after it, giving survivors a trail to help pinpoint the killers location. The killer can only control the shadow claws horizontal movement. Shadow claw goes over dropped pallets and windows, but if a pallet is dropped on it or hits a locker (even with a survivor inside) it will dissipate

Darkness notes: Survivors will know when the killer is near because of the darkness status effect unless they are within a light radius. This means that within a light radius, the killer can not approach but the survivors will be unaware of them unless they see a shadow claw approach or the killer turns off shadow cloak. Turning off shadow cloak will immediately make the terror radius audible, so the survivors can flee during the 3 second stun time. The combination of the darkness filter and killer flickering makes the killer very difficult to see

Light source notes: The killer and survivors can see white light radius circles on the ground. When lighting a bonfire, a skill check will happen every 4 seconds and failed skill checks increase the time by 4 seconds. The bonfire has a minimum light radius fades from 16 meters to 8 meters for the first 30 seconds, and remains at 8 meters for the last 15 seconds. Only one survivor can work on lighting the bonfire. A lit bonfire can be interacted with when in the last 15 seconds before extinguishing to relight it, but failed skill checks extinguish the light. Generators light source boosts at certain intervals. 25%+ = 8 meters, 50%+ = 12 meters, 75%+ =16 meters, and completed generators = 20 meters. When a light source expands, moves or re-lights after being extinguished, if the killer is within the new light radius and has shadow cloak on, shadow cloak is forced to turn off, stunning the killer for 3 seconds

    -------------------------------------------------------

    ~Perks~

Forgotten knowledge: when the killer comes within he killer comes within 8/12/16 meters of a dull totem or chest, the killer can see the items aura for the rest of the trial

Florid postern: When you destroy a breakable wall, you gain a portal token. Once you have 5/4/3 portal tokens, the next wall you break will consume the portal tokens and transport you to the center of the map

Trans-dimentional traveler: The killer can see the auras in white of closed hatches, unpowered exit gate switches or objects blocked by the entity within 12/16/20 meters

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Survivor 1: Wendy

Description: A young adult female with blond hair. She is rather frail but makes up for it by having a connection with her dead sisters ghost, Abigail, who comes to her aid when needed

    ~Perks~

Protective phantom: Decreases your chances of being the obsession. There is an obsession in the match. Once the obsession is killed by any means, you become the obsession and protective phantom activates. When you are struck by a basic attack, you become broken for 60/45/30 seconds the killer is aura blind and has their vision impaired by a ghostly figure for 3 seconds for each dead survivor

Sentimental flower: Stunning the entity gives you one petal token. Once you have 8/7/6 petal tokens, the next time you unhook a survivor, they are healed to healthy. This can only be done once per match

Weakness is strength: When stunning a killer with a pallet, they are stunned for 30%/25%/20% less time. Pallets you drop take 20%/30%/40% longer to

    break

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Survivor 2: Webber

Description: A humanoid spider with multiple eyes, spider legs coming off of his face, black hairs covering his body and multiple white eyes

    ~Perks~

Monster appetite: Stunning the killer 5/4/3 times in a single chase will cause the killer to drop an item called "monster meat" that disappears after 80/100/120 seconds. The monster meat is only usable by survivors with the monster appetite perk and each survivor can only use one per trial. Using monster meat takes 5 seconds and heals the survivor to healthy with no skillchecks

Reactive webbing. When you are grabbed or injured while repairing a generator, that generator becomes webbed. Webbing is subtly visible to killers and survivors. Only 1 generator can be webbed at a time. If a survivor repairs a webbed generator, it loses its webbed status. When the killer kicks a webbed generator, they are slowed by .2 meters/second for 10/15/20 seconds

Spider affinity: Pressing the interact button on a generator, window or pallet that is blocked by the entity allows the survivor to interact with that object as normal. This causes the survivor to become exhausted for 60/50/40 seconds. Survivors can not use spider affinity while exhausted

How is he going to carry you to a hook?

He drags the downed survivor behind him and yeets then onto the hook. He has powerful Voodoo magic to make him strong and the Entity would grant extra strength for this. Alternatively the hooks have a new animation where they are just half buried in the ground and get elevated by the Entity once a surv gets hooked by Chucky.

The devs are able to find a better and more creative solution as me though.

  • Just looked in my Switch version.. it’s not there, it shouldn’t be too much effort to get this option in all versions I would assume?

  • Hm, at least in Steam you can change the language in-game. It’s in the settings menu and needs a restart of the game to be effective.

    What button

While in survivor pre-lobby and not readied up you could directly switch to killer lobby and vice versa. There was a button on the left side below the bloodweb/customization buttons I think.

  • Pig for me. If I play her i always get the impression that I don’t want to use any of the addons.

Myers will get an addon rework maybe with a power refresh, since he doesn’t have the standard amount of addons I think? Hopefully it still remains as diverse though

  • I have seen many people having this problem and had it myself.

if you manage to get in the same lobby with a mutual friend you could at least add eachother that way.. otherwise I guess you should contact customer support…

POCKET KNIFE ADD-ONS WILL NOT STACK

thanks for these, I thought about maybe doing add-ons as well but like seeing ideas of others for this more!

Some of those maybe need a negative effect for the survivor as they seem very strong, but I like that you specifically mentioned they don’t stack 👍

    @bjorksnas @Komrad_Karnage

I agree this could turn out to be too powerful, that’s why I tried to tone it done with it being one time use and not a direct free escape but specifically tried to make it have synergies with other perks! There obviously need to be more testing and balancing around it. Like the idea of making the wiggle progress not instantly but over time to make some situations not feel like free escapes!

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That could absolutely be part of an arachnid type Killer's Power. Not so much as an Offering IMO though. I'd suggest the Hindered status , at least by default.

I agree if it is part of a killers power it would need to be more powerful with Hindered or something else.

i specifically tried to make a base game mechanic to give the game more stuff for/against survivors without it feeling too oppressive, something like the crows that are already in.

  • Not using them because too risky to lose my account for that.

i know it’s not like BHVR would ban for it and it doesn’t seem like anything gets done by EAC.. but still not worth it for me :/

(though I have seen people use the character icons for the in-game hud from the adept achievements instead of the profile picture and i would like to use those…)

  • If you are on PC you could inform your mates you try the challenge and they would probably help you, if possible (of course not everyone would directly help and some might troll but that should be less than those that actually would help)

  • Yeah.

the devs said they are not ruling out the possibility of adding a map for these killers later on I think.

  • As with my other items, i added an icon.

first picture was my attempt when i realized there is already a DbD pocketknife icon for the nerves of steel achievment. So added that as an item icon too, as I am not really that good in design and/or mimicking the original DbD design

  • I am expecting an original chapter.. either introducing the LGBTQ+ char and/or the Survivor Boon totem perk(s).

Licensed I would say will be Candyman for Chapter 22.

i would be okay with both though. Definitely have enough shards for an original now with all the free shards they were giving out.

  • As already said, camping (when no other survivor is around) is getting punished in that emblem category.

the devs also said that they have tested other punishment systems but those were to easily abused by the survivors and thus didn’t make it to the live/PTB version.

Also, if all 3 other survs would push gens that could also be considered punishing the killer (though personally I don’t see it as it just punishes everyone in the match with the most boring match imaginable, it also requires all 3 survs knowing that the killer camps and stays camping…)

  • Pride charm and Lunar Lantern for me easily. Currently every char of mine has those equipped and then one charm I selected specifically for the char. Like Blight got the Serum Vial from tome 1, Nea got her spray paint can.

  • Yes. It may reveal you when hiding as survivor in bushes etc (imagine on Dead Dawg Saloon a crown levitating over a bush lol)

and it makes stealth killers more visible as well as prevent you from mindgaming certain loops.

  • I have seen a mod recently confirm that BHVR doesn’t have an estimated date for this maintenance to be over.

  • Yeah, if I lived in Canada/Montreal I would probably have applied already, seems like a great employer from what I have read.

  • For original killer I guess that female killer from the story in the first rift would be attractive as she used her appearance to lure men and then kill them? Seems like a Trickster situation where she would be willing to kill for the Entity in the trials so maybe she wouldn’t get mutilated or something..

  • The only info regarding this is that the cosmetics may only be revealed after minimum 6 months after the corresponding rift closes. But there is no confirmation when specific cosmetics get added to the store until shortly before and it may very well be much longer (I think the first cosmetics from tome 1 were added 1 year after the rift)

  • 1: Probably tricked them and had some kind of traps.. he was not bound by game limitations after all and probably had the Entity help him in the background (without his knowledge of course, as the entity corrupted him?)

2: that’s a big question.. in short: the Entity is an interdimensional beast with godlike powers that feeds of strong emotions like fear and hope. It can grab people from different universes but only from specific locations and times and it costs energy. The trials happen in its realm, where it builds the maps out of memory’s.

3: we don’t know who the observer is (yet). But he has some kind of device to read the memory’s of those caught by the Entity and is in some form of save bubble inside the Entity’s realm..

also these questions should probably go kn the following forum section, you should also find more Info in the threads there as my knowledge on the lore is not that exact or detailed..

Maybe, but I have a feeling that it will be Candyman at once, even in the game loading screen, a member of Behavior commented "Aaahh Bees" is that I feel it will be obvious, otherwise it could be an original killer, a vampire for that matter. that I saw in the cutscenes of the volume, where the observer visits a castle and at the same time the messages in the archives. Or another licensed killer that could be Chucky or Pennywise, for the last Schmuckles video as discussed.

I think that quote you mean is actually referencing another movie and not Candyman (the one with Nicolas Cage, can’t really remember which movie that actually was though..)

  • @ChurchofPig said:

Honestly, people have been saying Candyman is the next chapter for the last 5 chapters. Also, all he said is "Just Wait." That doesn't necessarily mean he's hinting at dbd specifically. I'm not saying that it can't be Candyman for the next chapter, just that it's not extremely likely.

Pretty sure people have said that Candyman will come shortly after the movie releases and didn’t expect him for the last chapters. The 4th anniversary was the one where he was speculated most, but to be fair we had the tweet, the vague hints by Tony Todd, him following DbD on Twitter and the fact that he did voice acting for a video game.

Okay thanks for the clarification. I knew there had to be some reason

    No problem.

also switching it on and off for when MMR is in a Testphase or disabled would always need a client sided Update and they decided also against it because it would be just very confusing for the players..

  • Survivors are only skins and the gameplay doesn’t change with another character.

items can be changed for the same character as well, just like killers are still able to change their addons.

killers are getting specific skill based rank, so being able to change the killer in a lobby would give the ability to abuse that system

  • I still don’t get how anyone thinks Candyman would be boring, especially with his potential for DbD powers.

Tony Todd voice acting, hook-hand weapon, bee swarm as a potential projectile and/or AI based power, mirrors potentially for teleports. And I never even watched any movies, but this sounds pretty damn interesting.

  • @DrStone said:

I'm here for all the Candyman memes with every new chapter, buuut bringing Candyman chapter around the time of movie release makes enough sense to me.

And even if he's not released then I'm pretty sure we're gonna get him sooner or later. Tony is a huge horror fan and I think would be happy to take part in the project. I don't get another bunch of people saying he wouldn't fit or be included because he's not that popular of a horror icon.

Also, can someone remind me what was happening with that tweet DbD account made a long time ago? Bees and honey and skull, if I remember correctly? I'm pretty sure they tried to deflect and say it doesn't have any connection to the Candyman, but it really looked like they were implying something with it.

That tweet was from one of the devs and not the official account!

it was saying ‚next chapter is gonna be sweet‘ with a bee and sweets emoji and people interpreted it as Candyman hint.

  • I think they stated they paused on (original) new maps because of the Realm Beyond Update and the graphical map reworks, which are still being worked on.

They already expressed they would like to add maps for these killers that didn’t get one now, I guess they will at some point add new original maps and even realms.

  • Do you have crossplay turned on?

you can switch it on and off in the settings menu (when entering it from the main menu, not while in a lobby)

Its turned off on default and I guess most people don’t switch it off and thus the playerbase would be pretty small for Switch-only players

seriously though, I think he should have more cosmetics and I would imagine he would bring some cool charms.

  • Click on the following link and select ‚Additional Player Report‘.

You need stuff like your own platform ID (steamid46 for example) and DbD ID as well as the offenders platform id

the video is easiest to attach as a link with it being uploaded as an unlisted YouTube video (but you can attach a file directly, it depends on the size I guess)

an in-game report is mandatory so good thing you did that!

  • I think a more general question still to be answered is if the licensed characters are actually canon.

for some characters it doesn’t make sense to be so helpless (Cheryl, RE characters) while others fit more naturally (Stranger Things, Laurie)

and then we have those that don’t make sense together, for example the Halloween movies are canonically movies on Stranger Things..

I was thinking fashion is about to get seen. :P

    But i agree with you.

Oh it is I guess. But I am not a killer main and the outfits I get in the rifts are kinda enough for me :)

and for survivors I want to use something I like to see because I have to see them the whole match long
