I don’t understand what’s going on here?? What happened??
BHVR just revealed they were directly involved with NFTs through Pinhead licenseholder (despite pretty much denying this just a week ago) and Steam apparently bans games that are involved with NFTs
though we don’t know Steams/Valves official statement kn case of DbD

@GoodBoyKaru said:
So a few attentive people may recognise this from a comment I made yesterday (technically it was 24 minutes into today but let's not talk semantics). A couple of people suggested I make it a real post because "That's an excellent guide, very well put together." So, here I am. I've added a few more things so it's still worth a read.
This will cover what is, in my opinion, his best build and why, as well as a few tips on playing him & a few videos.
So hey, it's me- GoodBoyKaru, your friendly neighbourhood Pyramid Head main- here to give some swift Tips and Tricks(tm) to help make you a better Pyramid Head player!
For the record, this was made during DBD Patch 4.7.2
Build
PERKS
My personal favourite and imho strongest build is this:
- Corrupt Intervention
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5A01IV8RME2M/image.png
Crucial early-game slowdown on a killer without mobility, allows him to stall the game massively because survivors know that if they get found they're doomed.
- Pop Goes The Weasel
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FHA7ZFNAKVZY/image.png
It's the second best gen regression perk in the game, Ruin is too volatile to be anywhere near reliable on him because, again, no movement speed, he needs gen perks because he cannot move around the map quick enough, 11/10. "But you don't hook pe-" WRONG. You should be getting plenty of value out of PGTW and if you're overcaging then you're taking your map pressure and throwing it out the window.
- Barbeque and Chili
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SC8THLXSY3RP/image.png
Now, you could obviously put other perks here like Infectious Fright (amazing snowball), Tinkerer (Undetectable is nice and it helps tell you where to go but again no movement speed) or Discordance (amazing info, can sometimes do nothing about it). However I say BBQ because I like the perk and also because bloodpoints.
- I'm All Ears
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/V90CSL0I44NO/image.png
Hands down the best perk in the game for Pyramid Head, that's six seconds of wallhacks. I cannot stress how valuable this is with his power- that is a guaranteed free hit in 9/10 situations. To show what I mean, I've linked a timestamped video below of where IAE comes in so clutch- continues to 5:16 in the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=296s
(you can watch the whole thing if you really want I'm proud of the game).
An honourable mention here goes to Ruin/Undying over Pop/Corrupt. As I've mentioned before, Tinkerer isn't a great perk on him due to his lack of speed, but the same goes for Ruin/Undying. You don't have the map mobility to defend your totems, especially if they spawn further away, and you'll probably end up losing two perks before 2 gens go. Corrupt/Pop is just more consistent in my experience.
ADD-ONS
So, his add-ons aren't great. The best ones, by far, are range add-ons which, when combined, extend his POTD by up to 2.5m (10.5m total). These are Burning Man Painting (Rare), Wax Doll (Uncommon), and Black Strap (Common), which ass +1.5m, +1m, and +0.5m respectively.
tips
Okay so rule number one is to not break pallets. Sounds weird but, just trust me.
His power is incredibly strong in a chase- so much so that if a survivor commits to an animation they die. If you don't break pallets (with some exceptions like God pallets) you can do amazing things. Because who doesn't want more opportunities to win a chase, like, instantly? It turns incredibly safe pallets into death sentences
To show what I mean, here's another timestamped clip. Ends at 10:58
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gu3X5o9GpjY&t=646s
Learn the range of the power. 8m is specific and sometimes you think you can hit things and you can't. You need to be very careful, especially when playing with range add-ons for so long, because it can and will screw with your perception.
Adapt to the survivors you're facing. A lot of players will fake taking an animation, go to the side slightly to bait your POTD or your cancel, and then commit to the animation. If you turn to the side and release, you'll catch a lot of these survivors out and get a hit. It's really satisfying to do. Alternatively some survivors will commit to the animations regardless, in which case you'll know to aim in the centre. Other survivors will just hold W and pre-drop pallets, in which case you know to leave them because you'll really struggle catching up, or do not use your power.
I cannot stress that enough. If a survivor is pre-dropping W key gaming, do not use your power. M1 killer them.
Don't overcage and don't stress about torment. If a survivor loops you, they'll get tormented. That's just kinda how it works- you stick your knife in, follow them around a loop, and release your POTD after tracking their movements.
To see what I mean we return to the first video, again timestamped. Clip ends at 1:36.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJs4rvkppqs&t=83s
See how I hug the car, turn the camera and use the power to hit him out of animation lock? Had he kept running, easy torment too.
In my opinion, only cage someone in one of four scenarios:
- You're afraid of a DS (just please don't tunnel I'm begging you)
- You're afraid of an Unbreakable (much more likely)
- You can immidiately get into another chase
- It would place you into a Pressure Point Of No Return (name pending).
What I mean by that last point is that there comes a time in a DBD game where the killer will hit a Pressure Point Of No Return, where the survivors physically cannot come back from the amount of pressure and momentum you're building. The best example of this as Pyramid Head is where you split the map through cages. You have two downed survivors. Cage one, hook the other. Nobody is on a generator, you have a BBQ proc to interrupt the person saving the cage or the hook, and now the last person must save both people. On especially large maps, like Mother's Dwelling, or multi-storied ones, like Midwich, this can force people into second stage and you've won the game at 5 gens. It's more common than you'd think.
If you cage at other times you're probably wasting pressure you could've gotten from a hook.
Learn where you can and can't lay trails. In front of totems and lockers? Amazing. In front of a gen? Not at all, it becomes a Restricted Trail Element and disappears after a few seconds. The DBD Wiki has a section on this which I'll just paste below.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2808XTGCLSHV/image.png
I'd highly, highly suggest reading the wiki page on his power as it's really useful in understanding the fundamentals and giving actual values to words. Here it is:
https://deadbydaylight.fandom.com/wiki/Pyramid_Head
Finally, learn where you can and can't use POTD. It sounds like a simple thing but learning where you can and can't use it, however there's a lot to it. For example, learning how vertical changes affect it. Did you know if you release his power on a slope going up it'll fail, same with releasing it on a slope going down. However, if you're barely off of the slope it'll travel down it, but only if it isn't too steep.
It's nuts but knowing where you can and can't actually have an ability is, funnily enough, pretty important.
A few more quick-fire tips:
- Don't just go for animation lock shots. People expect these and adapt. Be unpredictable to catch them off guard and get easy hits. Like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U1k10I-zG4&feature=emb_logo
Bet they didn't expect that one :p
Needless to say that was where I hit a Pressure Point Of No Return and poor Jakey couldn't pick up the scraps.
- Don't spam his power. You waste too much time. Be precise, predict, and adapt to your opponents.
- Don't spam his trails. You move at 110% and you already lack a movement ability, you waste too much time.
- Tunneling isn't the best strategy. I know it seems like it because cages but again, you do not have a movement ability. Survivors can and will facefuck generators and ruin your day substantially.
- Dead Dawg Saloon and Hawkins are both maps you never press M2 on ever. Play like a default M1 killer because the map design prevents you from using your power. They're pretty much auto-loss maps, ngl, unless the survivors really badly mess up.
- Play survivor. Learn where survivors move and how they path, shoot POTD to hit them. That's what I did in that last clip.
And, yeah, that's about it. If people have any questions please let me know and I'll try to answer them as best I can, though I think this is comprehensive enough.

Make a clip and attach it to the bug report.
keep in mind the chains are supposed to spawn while you are carrying the box and if one chain already spawned when you start the solving interaction that chain will interrupt you.
-
A double pip is all you Need. And especially on lower grades (ash, bronze) the conditions to double pip are not as hard.
-
Not at all. There might be some playing both but they really don’t capture what DbD makes so special.
-
Sometimes they don’t appear at all for patches. Even though I have seen a surv running all the way. Just had a match on the Game yesterday and there were no scratchmarks on a stair at all.

The only killer I was aware of that was linked to motion sickness was the nurse but I could stand corrected and wouldnt dream to contest or speak on the experiences of others. That said, I dont know if FOV sliders would be the best or only course to alleviate any problems of this sort. Anti-aliasing (NOT the one they currently use) would be the first place I'd look at for this issue.
It’s definitely a thing. QoL for some but making the different of being playable at all for others. One of the devs actually mentioned that they had trouble with higher FoV (eg with Shadowborn) and couldn’t play the game for long with that setting.
FoV sliders not being the only problem is also pretty logical, but prioritizing should be up to the devs I guess, there are still other accessibility settings absent and you really can’t implement all there is sadly
-
@SleepyWillo said:

It would help a lot with finding surviors. Depending on the extent of the sliders capabilities it could also be very powerful at loops.
"accessibility feature"? How could it possibly be considered an accessibility feature? What disability does the FOV hinder?
But I would be fine with testing on PTB. I think PTBs should be used more for these types of tests. That said - its hard to believe the data from these tests with how people deliberately skew the results on both sides (survivors suiciding and killers going afk to encourage deliberate nerfs)...
There are people getting motion sickness on certain set FoVs. And the current default killer FoV is not the best for those those people.
the slider should definitely have reasonable max and min values and PTB test as well as further monitoring in live should help in finding that.
-
Would be cool to see an FoV slider with reworked MnA and Shadowborn.
in the end it is an Accessibility Feature. Though I can see what they were going for with the way it’s implemented right now, it’s really not up-to-date anymore

I would love a white recolour of her witch cosmetic. Would take any cosmetic if i'm honest!
If its just a charm though I'll be very disappointed...
I wouldn’t expect a white cosmetic. It will probably be just a simple recolor in the sense of what Jeff or Adam got.
-
@SleepyWillo said:
Do we know yet what (if any) cosmetic you get for straight out buying the paragraph? Charm? Top?
Or is it nothing and to just be bought in game with shards?
thats probably not officially revealed but let’s say rumors and past survivor only releases hint at this: there will be one recolored skin from the default body cosmetic if you buy the dlc from the platform store.
-
because the Design Team decided this would fit Janes character more?
many characters (mostly males) don’t change hair color in most of their cosmetics.
-
Blessing a hex Totem pretty much works the same as cleansing one, the hex and it’s effect will be gone. For undying this should mean, the first hex blessed in a trial (if none was cleansed) makes undying go away.
or did you mean something else? I don’t know what ‚pull the Totem away‘ would refer to tbh
-
No you can’t decide which Server you are being matched on. Only way is to dodge lobby’s with higher pings. (Though I this as Killer you don’t even see your ping….)

Definitely sounds like a bug.

Trophies won’t be transferred, that is intentional.
otherwise, did you do these steps? (From https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/268-f-a-q-next-gen-upgrade)
How do I claim my free upgrade on PS5?
This is easy!
To upgrade an eligible digital PS4 game you already own to the digital PS5 version:

I remember people being scared of Power Struggle and Counterforce.
I've only seen these perks if the player is doing the Adept challenge. Boon totems will be popular the first days because people will do the Adept...
But I hope to see them more often after, to have more variety to the meta. Not changing the meta, but having a larger choice of meta perks would be great.
At least the Healing Circle i think will see some use. Selfcare and Inner Strength are relatively poplular after all (and can be quite helpful if used right)
so a version of selfcare that can benefit the rest of the team sounds neat. Though not Meta breaking..

Its still stupid the Matchmaking shouldnt be only about Skills and Escape there are other factors that count as Skill. Like i said if a high Rank Survivor is extrem strong At loops and everything but didnt escape alot because he want to be killed or he got camped why he should get matched whit low Rank Killer that arent on his Level ?
Oh I agree. It shouldn’t be only about escapes/kills. The devs even said they tested that before but it didn’t work out and their system was more complex now. Turned out to be a lie..
-
If you never played Clown he won’t start at zero MMR but with an average MMR from all your killers you have experience with. When playing him the MMR will adjust individually for that specific Killer though.
also SBMM is indeed abbreviation for Skill-based Matchmaking. Though it was confirmed by the devs that this skill is only determined but escapes/kills.

Don't worry they will shake the meta like dead hard, old MOM and DS
Just like Counterforce or Power Struggle I guess. Or any of the other perks they were supposed to be broken before release.
maybe let’s actually test the perks with the upcoming changes? They really don’t see that busted anymore, the most broken stuff was addressed

I loved the BBQ event. Great changes to models like gens and hooks, simple mechanics that yielded bloodpoints and cosmetics by playing during it with community goals for everyone to work towards!
Hated the Blight event as it just broke the game and had people throwing and leaving early just for nectar.
Recent "events" aren't even a thing. They don't even reuse assets they have used. It's really disappointing...
i dont remember the community goals for BBQ?
in the end, we still get remodels with recent events (balloons on gens/hooks for anniversary) though I agree the BBQ ones looked especially nice.
i liked the older events, but I also remember that everyone complained about them when they were active. If BHVR hadn’t done BBQ but would do the exact thing now everyone would react the same as they are about the upcoming Midnight Grove (which will probably feature great Gens/Hooks as well, the pumpkins in the teaser looked nice as well and don’t seem to be as ridiculous as the Pustula Flowers)
-
It wasn’t better before MMR for me though. Actually the worst games I had during Emblem based matchmaking. Now it is more consistent and you directly feel that the game is balanced in favor for survivors when everyone plays at least decently. But not by much (not talking about highest MMR/top 5%, as most people do not actually experience that)
MMR hopefully shows the devs where they have to focus on when balancing.

Why do people bash the newer events and glorify the old ones like summer bbq wich added nothing new to do and also just had some lame revolors?
That’s what I asked. Didn’t get an actual answer, just for the Hallowed Blight event since it was shaking up the gameplay (which pumpkins could also do…)
i guess it’s nostalgia. And people don’t want to admit that.

I didnt even think of Dr. Lecter! I do agree, his book version seemed much scarier. I found it interesting that he had 6 fingers on his left hand; poly something lol.
Polydactyly. Blight has is actually but probably because of the blight serum mutation on not born with it.
And Anthony Hopkins Hannibal is very scary. But it’s more psychology scary and thus doesn’t quite fit DbD. The show version or book version do seem fitting better, as they have some cool chase/direct ‚fighting‘ scenes.
-
Hannibal Lecter.
i think that the Movie Version is great but wouldn’t quite fit DbD, but the book version of Hannibal seems better fitting!
-
We have every 3 months a new chapter and in between there is always a midchapter, which normally doesn’t include new characters. This time for 21.5 it’s just different that we get Mikaela. But there have been midchapter releases since forever.
-
They did say Ghostface (and Legion) are the next killers to get looked at. It would be cool if GF got some Scream-related update with Sidney and a map coming as well.
but I guess it’s unlikely. We never really did get anything directly related to a movie or new release outside of Megs snoot mask for Saw Spiral and the RE chapter for their 25th anniversary after all..
-
To be fair, they have officially stated that SBMM is not actually skill based but solely escape/kill based. Which may be one factor for skill but definitely not enough especially with the current state of the game and balance.
-
Yeah the atmosphere now is lacking. I still believe with fog rework and a little bit of lighting adjustment they could make the new maps look great though! They don’t look bad on their own after all.
but I really really do not miss everything that was broken back then. Infinites, BNP, Moris, hatch mechanic, exhaustion. Then we have QoL stuff like colorblind, struggle not being button mashing anymore etc. They did make so many improvements that go unmentioned.

Gameplay shakeup?
Even if the event wasn't balanced, or that significant, it was at least different from normal gameplay.
Was it though?
again, BBQ event only had reskinned gens and hooks and nothing more. Lunar even had the lanterns you interacted with shortly. And Pustula flowers well.. as i said, everyone complained.
And the pumpkins seem like they are well in line with this. And even the anniversary poles or what they are called.. are pretty much the same as the lanterns?
-
as someone who was around for Scorching BBQ (just reskinned gens and hooks), Hallowed Blight (Pustula Flowers that made every surv not participate in actual matches) and Lunar New Year Event (just the lanterns and you gotta escape)…
i don’t get what people are expecting of these new events? During those events pretty much everyone complained as well. But now people act like they were so good (I did like them btw)
and what we know of the Midnight Grove it is very much in line with the old events..
it can’t be about that extra currency you had to earn, right? What am I missing?

They dont ban the IP link to the account so they cant create a new account ? I know many video games do that
I don’t know how they are banning but I know that there are known hackers on Twitch for example that got banned multiple times but still go on
-
@Anara said:
I finally finish my support request, and I have one thing to say : Its too complicated to report a cheater.
I saw many people saying there is too many hackers in this game. Its because nobody report them because its too complicated, I had to deliver informations about me I didnt knew exist, like Steam id, Cloud something... It took me 30 minutes to report a Flightette....
Yeah, I reported someone today as well and it’s really tedious.
and that’s only one reason why the hackers persist. The other one is, they can just create a new account without even paying again for the game and continue..
-
@Brokenbones said:
If you were cheating why did people escape/why didn't you easily win. Playing any killer on Cowshed is painful, but pig especially
People need to come up with all kinds of reasons to cope with a loss sometimes, it's silly.
To be fair, there are subtle hackers that don’t go all in and only give themselves a minor advantage.

Not delete, but filter, sort, and hide sure! Same with perks. Not like the game is over five-years-old or anything...
Yeah. This.
Do the same with normal cosmetics as well. Also favorites and creating your own presets.
-
It will never be an actual pure horror game.
i wish the focus would shift more to a hide&seek&chase/trying-to-end-chase playstyle instead of genrush&loop/holdW but that’s not what the community wants at all. Most want an action game, which probably is the reason why survivors seek out the Killer to then loop them instead of trying to avoid the killer.
as for atmosphere, fog and to some extent lightning should be reworked. Not saying it should directly look like in 2016/2017. and it shouldn’t make Blendettes completely invisible but it should create a more claustrophobic atmosphere.

There is no hard cap, that's why everyone will creep up to the top percentage.
But… there is no hard cap so there will always be those that are way higher? It’s not like the score of those that perform well doesn’t increase. It’s not like everyone is going to reach the cap sometime because there’s none.
-
I would also like more diverse challenges, maybe even perk related like some challenges work.

Feels like this should have been pinned for longer.. still a great and very recent Info post
-
- Performance/Optimization
- Survivor objectives (Too dull for survs/feels to quick for killers; survs don’t ‚fear‘ the Killer at all at higher skill) - Maybe Game Balance would be a better title but I think surv objectives are currently the biggest issue here
- Hacker/Cheater
bonus: Accessibility (controller Settings and Accessibility options like for hard of hearing, deaf, epilepsy…)
