Wait, the survivor addons get disabled as well? I thought it was only the killer addon..
-
For the future you can hide the names from survivors in the settings so you could post a video like this without much editing. (Just gotta cut off Lobby and end-scoring screen as the names would be there)
-
Yes, the traps activate if you are further away. But you still get the sound and see which trap got activated. And survivors should still be cautious eg near hooks because they don’t know how far you are away.
you can also run in the direction and then teleport of you are just outside the range as the traps stay activated for a short amount of time.
there are also addons that enlarge the radius and one addon enables you to teleport to any trap on the map.
-
While Resident Evil is definitely an Action game it still has very obvious horror elements and is indeed horror genre as well as action. Things are not always only one thing or another.
-
You keep all of them. The offerings and the killer addon will be disabled but the survivor items and addons can be used.
-
What are those words and why would anyone ever use them?
(am I too old for this stuff? Probably.)
-
My idea was to guarantee a medkit any time you search/rummage a chest while injured. That way it would actually be a decent alternative for Self-Care/Circle of Healing.
don’t make it a guaranteed green Medkit. But instead just give it higher chance of rarer Medkits overall (like Plunderers but only active when injured)
i like the idea of a Special Medkit though. But I guess that would mean you can’t take it out with you?
-
Oh look, another excuse to post a link to my Killer concept (click it): The Blair Witch
though as many pointed out, the Witch doesn’t actually have a shape and creating a model in DbD would take away from her.
it is a great and classic horror movie for sure! The sequel is pretty bad though (still kinda liked it), there is even a third movie that came out around 2016 I think, though I never watched that.
-
i doubt those people that do it actually have the intention to harm people who get triggered by it because of epilepsy or something. They are just toxic people wanting attention and don’t even realize it can cause actual harm.
and if your health is at risk currently it’s best to not play the game (and give the criticism like you did here so the devs are aware of not already).
sadly, the community seems to not be interested into accessibility options anymore after the toxic part harrassed a dev with the colorblind mode as a ‚reason‘… I asked a question in the latest Q&A which didn’t get much votes..
-
With shard I guess you mean Decisive Strike? Either way, there are many things countered by a Mori next to DS such as Power Struggle, regular pallet or flashlight saves, sabotaging a hook, Breakout. Probably even more.
also while red/Ultra rare it is still just an offering and shouldn’t affect the match too much.
-
You can give valid criticism without asking for a person to get fired… maybe it would bring your Point across even better if you don’t sound like such a crybaby
-
I mean.. there is an advantage pc killer players have over console killers but it’s not mindgaming while walking backwards. And you won’t ever Verse a pc Killer while playing Killer on console either.
the biggest issue here is performance/optimization as well as controller settings (and M&K support on consoles).
crossplay isn’t really the enemy..
-
Kates mouth was a little bit overdone.
Aces smirk needs big adjustments.
Nancys face is off.
Otherwise I think the reworks were a great improvement.

When the bar is low for a game, it can be hard for players to realize that more can and should be expected of devs. That's all I'm seeing here.
pretty much everyone agrees that more can/should be done and everyone expects more from the devs., especially on QA stuff.

The fact is that no, DBD's not doing anything. It's not doing much right or wrong, as a game, and it doesn't have to. It is a stagnant game, and will be until there's a real competitor.
Merely saying "they must be doing something right" simply isn't fact, or logic, or sense. It's faith, plain and simple - trust and confidence with only self-evident backing, rather than anything empirical.
and how do you define this real competitor? Apparently every attempt until now wasn’t one?
Friday the 13th, Deceit, REverse, Hide or Die, HSH, Last Year and all the others somehow don’t qualify because you say so?

That's not logic, that's faith.
It’s fact. We see that DbD is successful and that every other asymm horror game failed miserably and that’s only only due to DbD existing and they failed because of different reasons.
DbD does something right. People may say it’s because they were among the first and because of the licenses and all. But if everything else was wrong people would still stop playing. Nothing to do with faith.

There's an implication in your posts that the devs are doing something right. Them not doing something bad isn't the same as them doing something right - or will you congratulate me on all the petty thefts I'm not gonna do today?
There is still something that they are doing right though. Not everything they do. But still, they have a huge playerbase and even those that complain stick around.
that’s not just because they don’t do a particular thing that other have done or anything. People would just stop playing asymmetrical horror games completely if DbD was so bad. If you like it or not, there is something they are doing right.

Other games failing isn't because of BHVR, whether you want to be honest about it or not. Games like Friday the 13th, Deceit, even Deathgarden, they failed in part because of the inclusion of stuff like in-game voice chats, which made them a less secure experience for streamers - DBD's streamability is its primary reason for success, given the expansion of YouTube and Twitch.
BHVR's "something right" is just not screwing up that one important aspect, not something the devs are really doing now.
That is my entire point though?
i never said they did everything right.
-
initially they said it would be here in September 2020 I think. So it’s over a year, not just some months ago.
and no, no update. The latest i think was in the Q&A (the summary isn’t pinned anymore sadly) and they said they still needed to figure out stuff and can’t give a definite date when to expect it.

Merely being present in a niche market without competition means they did right a while ago, not that BHVR's done right since entering the market.
Still none of the attempts even stayed relevant for a longer time except for Friday 13th (and that went downhill even before the license hell started).
they are doing something right, even if some people don’t like it
-
Daryl (and general TV show) seems like the most likely candidate for survivor option (looking at other game collabs like Fortnite)
also the actor had shown a suspicious image with the huntress mask on one of his social media accounts..
-
Yes.
Sadly even after BHVR has shown how awful they are (NFTs) it doesn’t change that DbD is the asymmetrical horror game and nothing has come close. And even though many people bash the devs they have to do something right.
-
Yeah would love a more horror based game where survivors actually try to avoid the killer and the goal is to escape chases instead of approaching the chase and trying to keep it as long as possible.
that and of course better atmosphere. I still think that the Realm Beyond is overall a good graphical update but the game lost something, which I think is due to the fog being non-existent now. And probably the lighting as well. It shouldn’t necessarily just be darker and that’s it but more atmospheric and creating a more claustrophobic feeling.
-
this was also the case before MMR. MMR just made this more apparent and consistent.
The balance of this game is on higher skill on survivor side, on lower skill on killer side.
We need gameplay changes to address this. Matchmaking can’t solve this issue.
-
Neither start nor end we’re officially announced so we currently don’t know..
-
I think so. Seems like because of the infinite loading screen where you are forced to end the game and you would get a penalty then. But they didn’t make a statement regarding it..,

You people make literally everything about NFTs, don'tcha.
And? Others make everything about Killer vs survivor stuff or something else irrelevant.
at least NFTs are actually an issue and the way BHVR handled it is unacceptable. People also cry that the devs lie etc. in this case they actually lied.

I've watched the 3 movies, I don't remember seeing the witch in any of them tho. All I've ever seen is the sketch. The game showed monsters and stuff, but never actually showed the witch. Really the only thing the game did right lol. I do love the folklore of The Blair Witch, but I also like it remaining an unseen force as it's been portrayed. For something folklore related, I think they could do a lot of cool stuff with a Wendigo, and have the survivor and killer related to each other. Maybe an Indigenous American brother and sister. I'd say the sister be the Wendigo, because DbD does be lacking on female killers.
I only watched the first two movies. Thought I heard that you can see her (vaguely)..
i dont even expect to the the Blair Witch and do understand the concerns from those against it. I am kinda split on it, but in the end i would love to see some kind of the license in the game (hence the Hall of Fame of Horror and all..)
-
I pray that one day BHVR will give an official, honest and reassuring statement on the NFT fiasco.
but sure. dc‘s and crybabies are also important I guess.
-
@MrSlippery said:
I picked that I didn't want it, simply because The Blair Witch has no real design. To give her a design feels like it'll take away the mysterious of the witch.
Yes I know there are a few sketches based on what people claims she looks like, but that may or may not be true.
Yeah that’s actually true and the best argument against it. That and the fact at least in the first movie they even let it open if there even is a witch/something supernatural going on. Though I think in a later movie and a game there is actually a shape/body?
One way they could implement it is if they actually take Heather (or another person from the movies) and call them ‚The Possessed‘ and give them the powers of the Blair Witch..
-
sounds more like hacking tbh, but not sure.
if you are unsure, report the survivor(s). If they didn’t hack nothing should happen to them. Make in-Game reports and additional player report info tickets with attached clips (eg unlisted YouTube video link)
-
It’s happening to many people:

UPDATE: We have deployed a tentative fix to Steam. This update will not affect crossplay. If this fix works well, we will be extending it to other platforms as soon as possible.
The team is currently investigating an issue which is causing extraordinarily long / infinite loading screens. Since this bug happens sporadically, we would greatly appreciate any info that you could provide that may aid us in our investigation. We’re on the lookout for any trends that may contribute to this bug happening.
If you have had an infinite or exceptionally long loading screen, we would appreciate if you could let us know the following:
- When the issue occurred (loading into a lobby, loading into a match, etc.)
- How the loading was initiated (e.g. accepting an invite, matchmaking, etc.)
If necessary, a member of the development team may reach out privately to request a log.
EDITING TO ADD - Can you advise if you are playing with Cross Platform on or off. Thank you.
Thank you for your assistance!
-
If you have a clip AND you have made a proper in-game report you can create a support ticket where you can attach that clip and the steamIDs of the supposed hackers and other info here:

So I could use most of the medkit, and then use the syringe?
Yes exactly
-
It needs to have at least some charges left. You can only activate the syringe during the heal animation (which means it’s also only usable while injured and not broken)
-
For reference here a link to my concept (click on the name):
(also if you are not sure on pronouns, ‚they‘ would be enough as it pretty much is the most neutral to use. In my case ‚he‘ would fit)
also. I do think the Hag and the Concept of totems/Hexes are already directly inspired by the Blair Witch Project. I also think it’s just one of the classic horror movies that -while not a slasher- do fit in with the „Hall of Fame of Horror“, like Alien and Hannibal.
-
They are survivors. Of course they were toxic and insulting you. Probably something about your mother as well.
-
Actually it used to be the case that frantically raising your arms meant „Killer is nearby“ and just shortly raising your arms once meant „come get me now“
but I guess it’s hard to let this continue when there are so many people playing that never heard of it
-
The only ones that should apologize are the higher ups from BHVR that decided to get DbD involved in NFT and then decided to make a comment stating (indirectly) how they were not involved.

How is it rude? Just because I stated that players constantly come and go is not a big event? Well, it is not. It seems that these days if you disagree with something you are automatically rude.
It’s rude to say „Who cares?“ in a topic where you already know that at least OP cares. You were directly talking down on them.
no one would have had a problem if you said „I don’t care“. You know, stating your opinion without talking down on others opinions.
-
You would not lose any progress but you would only get characters and stuff that’s included in the ultimate version that you don’t already own. No compensation for stuff that you paid for before but that’s also included in the ultimate version
-
You can already connect your Steam account with your BHVR account and your progress would be saved on the BHVR account for cross Progression.
so if they add Epic as a platform they will very likely add it to the cross Progression pool and this you could link your Steam and Epic accounts.
it would be very weird to add a new platform which wouldn’t allow linking with the BHVR account. But then again it’s Behaviour…

It's not a scandinavian name at all, so I doubt that. She also doesn't look very scandinavian. I would guess america somewhere.
♀ Name Mikaela – origin, meaning & pronunciation of the name MikaelaI guess all of these name origin websites have it wrong then. I looked on multiple (mostly Geman) of these and all of them said it was Scandinavian or Swedish variant.
But I agree she doesn’t look Scandinavian and the surname also doesn’t suggest it. Could still be that one of her parents came from there or something.

They still happily support the company that makes them so that’s about as bad.
We really don’t know if they happily support this if they just got the information yesterday the same way we did
-
Not the devs. It’s the higher ups at fault here.
its very likely (most of) the devs didn’t know about the NFT stuff at all. We know McLean and others didn’t know.
-
There are probably many on the dev team that think the same about NFTs and the fact McLean didn’t know about it tells us most devs probably didn’t know either.
-
Just for the record, as far as I can tell the dev team isn’t at fault with the NFT stuff here. Actually I think i saw on Twitter that some just got informed about it with that tweet just like us.

"Behaviour worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt in-game models for use as NFTs and approved them prior to the release of Pinhead in DbD. The NFTs have a chance to grant access to the #Hellraiser chapter of DbD."
Sounds like they are directly involved since they actively worked on them and approved them.
oh for me it does sound like it as well. But frankly, we don’t know how Steam will weigh it just now.
-
It’s not certain right now. Chances are that Steam handles this one differently as BHVR is ‚only‘ indirectly involved by creating the assets and all.
the thing we need to ask ourselves now is, do we want to support BHVR doing this? And this goes to any player -regardless of platform.
