  • I have been having the same issues, thank you for bringing this up

I will never understand why people load up into a game with the sole purpose to make others suffer. I have been working on an achievement since it came out. I have to open an exit gate and escape on RPD 20 times. I put it my steam bio, I gave fair warning to everyone in the queue, I turned off crossplay so that people can red my bio, I changed my steam name to Read My Bio, and the killers are just #########. Now, you dont have to let me do anything, but to sit there and camp me and tunnel me out, to sit there and deliberately come after me, knowing full well that I am working on an achievement, that is a new kind of low and I hope both sides of your pillow are warm tonight. What happened to the days when killers could meme around and have fun and goof off. Oh wait, MMR killed them all.

How is it an achievement when you are given it for free?

    a·chieve·ment

    /əˈCHēvm(ə)nt

    noun

    1. 1.
    2. a thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.
    3. "to reach this stage is a great achievement"

I found this video though. Is this a similar problem?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC0LxMzntKg

Yea that would explain the invisible survivor, but the one I couldn’t hit at all even we standing directly next to them, I don’t know

  • @Anniehere said:

I've seen it stated on Reddit that this is likely a bug with Spirit after using her power.

Do you happen to have a link by chance? I’d like to check that out

  • I would have uploaded video on this forum, but it was too big

  • @iamhnf said:

Just wondering what are your thoughts and why would the 2nd last survivor that gets down loves to snitch on the last survivor when a killer tries to secure 4 kills (excluding those when the last survivor does nothing the whole game or sabotaging own teammates)?

    Snitches get stitches

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

The problem with camping and tunneling isn't that they exist but how effective they are

The difference between 4 survivors and 3 survivors is just way to big. I'm still thibk that adding some kind of "desperation" repair speed bonus as soon as a survivor has died would be a good solution for this.

Not enough to completely offset it but enough so that a 3v1 isn't completely hopeless. Making it so that the ideal strategy is having 2 survivors on deadhook and then taking them out with a 1 2 punch would help a lot with tunneling without asking killers to go for 12 hooks every game

Camping i feel is more killerspecific. A m1 killer camping usually isn't that big of a deal and are easy to trade with. That said i do think the hooktimers could increase a bit to offset the increase in gen times.

Also wish more people knew the counter to deadlock by leaving one gen 99% so it keeps hitting that one. That perk is given way much more power then it actually has for campers

Sole survivor is the desperation perk. I always run it in solo Q

  • @Ayjay said:

It happens way too often, my teammate will get chased by the killer so they run at me so the killer goes for me instead.

Isn’t that the sole purpose of Bond?

They said 2 were on death hook, and apparently 1 was already dead, when the killer changed strategies as soon as the 3 gen was all that was left. I'm not talking about your spirit game, and I fully acknowledge that there are killers that will start the game fully intended to never leave their 3 gen (especially trap killers like Trapper or Hag.) I don't understand why people keep purposely mis-attributing that to my argument.

You’re right, sorry dude, I didn’t see that second post he made

  • @Ryuhi said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3292271#Comment_3292271

Why would the killer leave the area? Thats how you lose 3 gens, and they have zero pressure reason to do so. Chasing someone to the opposite end of the map is giving up their pressure they have, and the survivors 3 genned themselves instead of forcing one of those gens when the killer was apparently playing normally before that point.

The blame is just as much with rushing outer gens as it is with the killer maintaining pressure to capitalize on that mistake. You can make arguments about the shared agency of survivors and "it was the other survivors who caused the 3 gen" but at the end of the day, there is absolutely zero reason for a killer to chase anyone further away from that position unless they are confident they will get the down and be able to bring them back to a hook near said 3 gen. Asking them to leave that area for long enough to do a gen is asking them to throw the match.

The part you said about “survivors three genned themselves” isn’t accurate. Just today I played a solo Q against a spirit running call of brine, eruption, overcharge, and nowhere to hide on an autohaven map. She found the 3 Gen at the start of game, and didn’t leave the area. 1 Gen was finished at the other end of the map, but me and the other survivors rigorously tried breaking the 3 Gen with 4 gens left. She would not budge. The game lasted for 50 minutes until people just started giving up and moving at her wearing snowmen, of course she downed and killed them, still having 4 gens left. The combo is busted.

I guess - a better question: following your logic, what makes you sure you aren't playing against SWFs?

Lol you got me there, I don’t know. Not when it comes to 2 or 3 man SWF’s. 4 man I can usually tell by the way they play, like the picture below, but otherwise they could be coordinated solo Q. The whole point of this post was post match being repeatedly being called out for playing SWF when I never play SWF.

Not true. It's always a 2 person swf in at least 90% of my games. When I play as survivor, and killer.

Lol, so 9 out of 10 games you play are SWF, how do you know this? Are you playing the same people over and over again?

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3292270#Comment_3292270

It's generally obvious - often two people with similar names, playing the same survivor, or have each other on Steam friends. You can tell a 3-4man by the fact that they all drop into the lobby at the same time.

Similar names like Yin/Yang sure I can see that, I’m a little iffy on the steam friends, I play on console and have a ton of in game friends gathered over the years, and don’t really play with them and probably wouldn’t know it if we landed in the same game, but the drop in all at once happens in solo Q quite often, and it is definitely not a reflection of a SWF

Nope. A full 4man - maybe 1 in 12. A 2 or 3 man? I'd say at least half my games, probably more.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3289748#Comment_3289748

A SWF - people playing together. Nothing about SWF definitionally requires it to be a 4man.

Even a 3man SWF is miles stronger than a 2man.

Curious as to why you believe you face a 2-3 man SWF on more than half your games?

    Evil?

Lethal Pursuer+BBQ+PR+Discordance on Artist. Running Hands+Hemo on bird strike.

Holy crap do people struggle with the endless torrent of birds smacking them off gens all game.

Oh man, I once got all 4 survivors at the same time with the hands add on, and this one time I saw two survivors hop on a Gen with lethal and I staggered my birds in a straight line right at them. The first birds hit and the survivor spread the birds to the other survivor, the second birds hit damaging the first survivor who moved, and the third birds hit damaging the second survivor who had moved in the way…. It was so glorious and satisfying, I could have ended the game there and been happy.

No I mean you quoted something I said in your response, I think you meant to quote someone else. I had no dogs in your empathy conversation

It absolutely can. I run Empathy, and unless you're against an instadown killer, you can generally judge it from Emp. Usually, I'll let go about 5 seconds after the first hit and watch what they are doing.

and no i didn't win because of eruption or the build i won because they 3 gened themselves like usual so don't go there

so why don't we maybe stop sweating for 3 seconds and run something different ? or maybe don't insult people that are trying to have fun

  • i think a surrender button should be given. If a survivor wants to quit, just instead of leave game it should be surrender, their character model is replaced with a bot, and they can just join another match. They don’t receive any BP’s, lose MMR, and depip, same scenario for killer too. Killer would get the full value of the hook, and deaths states, and if killer surrendered, survivors get like a 10k BP bump, it would be way better than a DC, and think about all those people on penalties could still be playing.

  • @ByeByeQ said:

Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance is currently DbD's most popular killer perk with a 25% usage rate. But it's not viewed as problematic or overpowered. Here's why Pain Res is fine:

    • Pain Res can't affect a generator that has regressed to 0%.
    • The killer has to earn its value.
      • They have to down and hook someone on a Scourge Hook to use it. Not every hook they get will cause a Pain Res proc.
      • It is dependent on Hook RNG. The killer can get no value from Pain Res if they get really bad Scourge Hook spawns.
    • It offers counterplay.
      • Survivors can finish the gen before the hook happens.
      • Survivors with Saboteur can see the Scourge Hooks and act on that information.
      • Survivors can get off the gen before the hook action is completed and negate the scream.
        • Note: The regression from Pain Res is still effective despite this counterplay.
    • Its "cherry on top" effect effect is weak. It's just a scream and a few seconds of downtime.
    • Pain Res has few synergies with other perks and they can be outplayed.
      • By negating the scream, survivors can negate its synergy with Dead Man's Switch.
      • Even if they run a full carry build they still can't make every hook a Scourge Hook.
    • It is not behind a paywall. As an Artist perk it can be acquired through gameplay with no luck involved.

Eruption sees 18% usage rate by killers. Many players, especially SoloQs, harbor a burning hatred for this perk. Here's why Eruption is not fine:

    • Even after a generator regresses to 0% it can still be affected by Eruption as a gross stealth "cherry on top."
      • Thanks to this, the killer is always correct to kick the gen. There is no "Should I kick this gen or not?" question in the back of their mind. It's just "Must kick gen!"
    • Eruption's value is too easily earned.
      • If they kick a generator and down a survivor before the generator is completed, they will get value.
      • As long as they kick a generator before they get a down, they will almost always get value from Eruption for every down.
    • It offers very bad and unbalanced counter play.
      • Unless you're on comms with the other survivors it is almost impossible to prevent its incapacitation effect without giving the killer too much value.
    • Its "cherry on top" effect effect is too strong.
      • Incapacitation is a bad effect for a perk to have. Killers should not have the power to force survivors to do literally nothing when affecting them with an indirect action.
      • 25 seconds is an eternity in DbD.
    • Its synergies are too strong.
      • Other gen kicks perks, especially Call of Brine, synergize far too well with Eruption. They apply immediate/near-immediate regression to the generator to buy time for the killer to get an Eruption proc on the gen.
      • Once the regression perks have done their job and took the gen to 0% the gen still remains stealth trapped with Eruption until either the gen gets done or the killer gets a down.
    • It is behind a paywall. Unless you got/get lucky in the Shrine of Secrets, you have to spend real money to get Eruption. This is why Eruption is at 18% usage and not up there at 25% with Pain Res.

Usually I end posts like this with questions. This time I don't have any.

Every single game I’ve played today (7 total) the killers have had Eruption/Call of Brine/Overcharge and Nowhere to Hide/Jolt. Those matches have had almost 0 chase. The killer identifies a 3 Gen, and can just lock it down without even playing, just randomly getting hits, and running back to guard duty. Every game has lasted upwards of 30 minutes or more, with one game lasting almost an hour. I have dumped all other builds for a build I now use almost every match. Sole Survivor/Wake Up/Left Behind, then maybe an exhaustion perk, but really there isn’t a reason for an exhaustion perk because there aren’t any chases. Worst games ever. Hopefully they nerf that crap gameplay like they did Thana when they buffed it to much.

You wanna know what good fun is, this is a game I played last night. I used Myers with more stalk per stalk, and infinite tier 3 add ons. I equipped M&A, Nemesis, Trail of Torment, and Dark Devotion. A survivor brought an Ormond offering which was perfect. Start of the match I went up on the balcony over looking the back 40 where all the survivors were just running around opening chests, and doing gens. I stood up there stalking and got all the way to perma tier 3 and only one Gen popped. I hopped down piped a survivor, (left them there) then ran over and kicked a gen then hopped in a snowman and parked myself close to the regressing gen. The next survivor came over to work on the regressing gen, I piped them, kicked the gen and ran off. Found another snowman, hopped in and perched myself in a high traffic area in main building. A survivor swam into my trap moments later, with the same results. Eventually the survivors jumped into snowsuits and we all high 5’d for a bit with me randomly just piping someone. They finished all the gens, and left in snowman suits. Fun for everyone, yet still kinda scary. Now that’s a fun match, and they all said it was awesome.

I just finished all the new survivor tomb challenges, and those were some of the most hate filled games I’ve played on DBD yet. Quad Gen regression po ju finger clowns, camping/tunneling, it was awful. Not a single person got in a snowman suit. As soon as I finished survivor I switched to killer and played dredge. I really wanted to know what dredge was like in a snowman suit, and as soon as I hopped in, all the survivors surrounded me in snowman suites and we slapped hands making sparkles for a solid 3 minutes. Last night my last match was on demo and I was running tinker and the only slowdown I had was deadlock. At the start of the match when I made it to the center of Shelter woods when tinker went off by the time I got the gen it was finished by two ppl with BNP toolboxes and Prove + Hyperforces. After that gens continue to pop very fast even with deadlock and I end up dcing just because I couldn't down ppl fast enough and was getting so mad. So yeah the reason killers stack gen perks is bc survivors have so many ways to compete for gens super fast. Every time I dont run two or more slowdown perks on low-tier killers I feel the game lasts a few mins and I left with maybe 2 or 3 hooks. These types of matches make me want to play nurse tbh...

What would you have done in that scenario had you had 4 Gen regression perks? You yourself said you weren’t downing survivors fast enough, and what were the games like before that one? Did you DC every match prior to that one? Did you constantly face bnp prove thyself hyper focus combo plates? Maybe that survivor group decided they were sick of getting Gen locked. Point is that you can’t win them all.

  • @BillsHere101 said:

Killers don't want to use these gen blocking or regressing perks but they have no choice. Games last 3-5 minutes if they don't use these perks. You want eruption to get nerfed and then go for the next anti gen perk.

BHVR should be focusing on 10-15 minutes matches instead of games that last shorter than loading/queue times.

Killers that use these use them because they usually have no idea what to do after they hook a survivor. They think just because they lost 2 gens during the first chase the game is over, and they are facing a bully squad, Gen rushing SWF, this is just not the case. When Thana was buffed to repressive levels, every killer was using it, rarely during that time did I see a killer without it, because of this the ball started rolling on creating Gen smashing survivors, extremely efficient builds were made just to have a chance. Well Thana went away and the Gen regression meta that happens now was created, and the survivors adapted, and are of the mentality that every match will be a slog Gen drag. New killers are under the impression that they must 4k at all costs and equip all this Gen slowdown, camp/tunnel, etc. anything less and they are a failure, I used to think that, and even killers with 1000 hrs in the game I still think are new killers. Once a player realizes a 4K doesn’t matter, or losing 2 gens in 2 minutes doesn’t matter, and you shrug off that failure mentality, you will be surprised at how much better you play. When I run killer the only Gen perk I use is jolt, sometimes non at all, and still get 10-12 hooks most games, and 8-10 hooks on the hard SWF ones.

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

Who is saying that they face SWF every match?

Also, do you have data to show that SWF is only every 1 out of 10-20 matches?

It’s going to depend on the time of day that you play. I’ve played killer during the day and during the evening. SWF are far more prevalent during the evening (makes sense - people are off work/school and have time to play with their buddies). I would bet you a lot of money than SWF are far more frequent than 10% of matches during peak evening hours.

I mean, it's a big deal when so much of the year is lopsided and it's only a fun thing for one team.

You said diddly squat! My grandpa used to say that lol.

  • The only ones I have a hard time with are Blight (super hard to do flicks) Billy (the camera just won’t move fast enough regardless of sensitivity) and Oni (same as Billy) the rest are complicated by not nearly as hard. Also with the aim adjust, auto aim, whatever is is with these killers I usually end up hitting a tree or a bush

You're forgetting an important variable. SWFs of any kind are a stronger role than SoloQ, a 4man is stronger than a 3man, a 3man is stronger than a 2man etc etc. which all plays into MMR. In mid to lower MMR games your statics may hold some truth (however you clarified your stats are based on a 4man) but in higher MMR games, killers face the majority of all types of SWFs rendering your statics completley false. The higher your MMR as killer is, the MORE SWFs you face.

According to these forums EVERYONE is high MMR, but if that were the case there wouldn’t be so many Solo Q complaints because everyone would be high MMR and everyone would be in a SWF. In the past 100 or so games, as killer, I’ve lost maybe 2-3 games (losing to me is 2 or more survivors escape) I don’t know how much this mysterious MMR moves up or down depending on a loss, but I do know that I DONT play the same people over and over again, which would constitute that I and those I face over and over are of the high MMR, but instead I face a really good group which are clearly SWF then 10-15 games of solo Q, then a really good group. So based on my own experiences is why I posted that. The point is that not every survivor group faced is a SWF.

SWF is an acronym for Survive with Friends, which per definition includes all types of survivors playing together in a premade - no matter how many and if on comms or not.

it’s still advantageous over complete random soloq even if you are only a 2 man without comms as you at least know that there is someone having your back/not only hiding/sandbagging etc.
