Are you strictly talking about 4 man swf groups? Otherwise I am pretty sure the percentage of swfs including 3- and 2man is higher than that.

doesn’t mean all of them are sweat squats and some might not even use any voice comms of course..

I’m talking 4 man squads. I don’t think I’d consider a 2 man on comms or a 3 man no comms a SWF, just some people who met each in the game, and play together sometimes. I’ve played those, and didn’t really feel advantageous. I’ve just been playing Solo q today and received some much crap from killers post game calling out SWF this and SWF that, I mean jeez, there was no SWF and that killer tunneled and camped their way to a 3-4K. I guess I’m just curious at what point does a killer think he’s facing a SWF? Because a Gen is finished quick? Does that activate camp and tunnel mode? Just curious.

Same here! Since the update today (Dec 6th) they didn’t work on Survivor and now they are showing on killer so I did a match to test and not working there either.

That’s the trade off you can either have map incentives or random crap spawning all over the map, and totems inside lockers

SBMM can be good if implemented right. SBMM in DBD has a lot of flaws that can be abused maliciously.

DBD has flaws????? What in the what? That sounds like blasphemy

I mean for me there are 3 things that I really hate about her:

    - Preplacing traps on loops is useless most of the time bc good squads will disarm them with flashlights or while you are in chase with someone

    - You are super slow

    - You can place a trap at a pallet but survivors will start to run away to the next pallet and you can't catch up

But its the same thing for me as survivor. I don't but not bc shes super good....shes just boring bc 90% of the ppl will camp with her.

Is there anyone enjoying her? I would like to get some advice. How can I play her like a fun killer?

1 of her strongest benefits used to be her snowball effect. With boon totems that really hurt her. She was able to keep survivors injured then lure them into her web and devastate. Also she experiences bugs that don’t let her swing momentarily when teleporting. Those two together hurt her tremendously. 1 of the ways I play her is with sloppy and rusty shackles, the surprise hits are good. And keeping people injured is the way

  • Funny in this game you can’t fix one thing without breaking another lol

I'll bite since you wanted to assume some more. Lots of 'or or or' in there, good rational post man.

Annoyance = someone disagrees with me, tells me to play better, can't take it so lash out with condescending and rude comments. Check!

I know a lot about what I'm saying, you just don't like the fact I called you out for being stuck in gold for a month. I have over 2k hours in this game, been Iri1 for both killer and survivor in the past, and I'm Iri now. You can keep assuming and deflecting everything on to others though, you're good at that at least. And if you were so good and you only got strong killers like Nurse & Blight, yet you claim being hard stuck for a month in gold, your MMR would go down and you'd face 'easier' killers as you put it. Stop acting like you're the only one going against S tier killers, and S tier only. Especially in solo Q. You're not. Don't gotta lie bout it on the forums, ma dude.

    Cringe

No I recognize this but disconnects and people giving up doesn't mean you auto depip. You have the same actions that you need to complete. If youre in a 3v1 you can still unhook, do gens, chase, and heal. If you continue playing to the fullest you should be able to safety pip most of the time and focus on pipping when you have others who actually play.

I never said anything about de-pipping

You got mad I pointed out you shouldn't be hard stuck in gold for a month, then started being condescending and rude. Nothing of substance to add again, anyways I'll see myself out. GL.

Annoyed about someone speaking something they know nothing about is not the same as mad dude. You clearly have no idea what I’m talking about, or you DC/Hook Suicide all the time, or you’re probably just new to the game and have yet to play serious killers. Please though, see yourself out

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3289273#Comment_3289273

I did read it. Yes and I said some nights or days you will have those. It happens. 3 nights ago I played 5 matches and someone either D/C'd or killed themselves on hook at 5 or 4 gens, in all 5 of those matches, I did not live and I lost 3 pips. I ended up closing the game after that cause I just felt 'whats the point'. But to not move out of gold in 1 months time? Nah that's partially on you. I've also had matches where 1-2 people kill themselves on hook at 5/4 gens, just because of the killer they're facing and I still manage to +pip or at the very least, black pip.

Ex. Faced a Spirit almost a week ago, 2 of my teammates got caught at the very beginning and both wanted to kill themselves on hook. Eventually they succeeded but me and the Vittorio who stayed in the match, decided to just try for points, we still did gens when the other was being chased, we still went and saved each other every time (thankfully Spirit was nice enough to not just sit at hook and actually let us save each other each hook state), and she didn't tunnel one of us, she took turns chasing both of us. In the end we still died, but I +pip'd. Pretty sure the Vitt did too.

There are a lot of situations that you can still turn around and make something out of. Not always, but there are definitely a lot of surprising matches like I said that seemed like a depip but turned out to be a black pip or +pip.

It’s cool yoU get easy killers, I do not.

  • @Volcz said:

While I do agree that you can have those days or nights where ranking up is near impossible, I won't say you can't pip up in solo que. Just gotta do a lot more work to compensate for those types of teammates.

I was gold 1 last night and needed 2 pips to hit Iridescent.

Won my first match & got out, pip. Immediately after, went against a Wesker who just tunneled & even face camped me, while teammates just unhooked me for points and ran off, no bodyblocks, no taking a hit, etc. Depipped.

Next match, a Freddy on Swamp. 2 of my teammates were death hook and we had 1 gen left. Eventually, he started to catch me and I was soon death hook. Kid you not, the Meg & David who were on death hook weren't even trying to do a gen, they just walked around in the corners of the map too afraid to do anything. Thankfully the other person who hadn't been hooked (who was trying to help me repair the final gen) got it done and we all got out. +2 pipped into Iridescent, called it a night there lol.

Being stuck in gold for a month...yea IDK bout that. I'd assume you're not playing well or efficiently. We all get those teammates that D/C, snowball the match or just kill themselves on hook, it sucks but you should still find some matches to +pip if you focus on a little bit of everything. Even in some matches where my teammates have D/C'd or killed themselves, I've surprised myself and pip'd.

But yea, solo que is very bad. No disagreements there.

    @Sharpefern said:

I am surprised noone has asked this but what is your build? I honestly don't think pipping in solo should be hard, escaping is a different story. Pipping with survivors generally follows something like the 2x2x2 rule. 2 good chases, 2 gens and 2 unhooks. 2 perks I think help out tremendously with solo are, Kindred and Distortion. Kindred because you can ensure unhooking is safer and that you dont waste time going for an unhook when someone else is already there. Distortion, one of the best survivor perks in general IMO, gives you information on the killers perks, and prevents you from being the target frequently. We'll make it can also help with your benevolence emblem. Bring a med kit unless multiple people are, in that case bring COH and a map that can track totems, less likely to get franklins. Information is your best friend in solo queue so aura reading perks will be the most helpful outside of your chase perk (possibly more helpful than your chase perk). Windows of Opp, Fogwise, Alert, Bond, and Empathy are great additions to know where your safe spots are, teammates are, and the killer is. If you make a build with 1 stealth perk, 1 assist perk, 1 chase perk, and 1 info perk you should do well. (example could be Distortion, Kindred, Lithe and Fogwise).

Don't treat solo queue like SWF when it comes to your build. Meme builds are much harder to pull off and some great GREAT perks and items lose a lot of value in solo. Like Adrenaline is often very powerful because a teammate can trigger it while youre in chase. If you dont have a health state loss and are not in chase its actually a hinderance as it exhausts you. Toolboxes are weaker too because its hard to coordinate which gens you are doing to know which gen needs prioritizing. Deliverance, Prove thyself, Reassurance, Kinship, For the People, Botany Knowledge all work better with a team knowing you have them or helping you use them.

Maybe you guys didn’t read what I wrote but I don’t have build issues or efficiency issues it’s the disconnects and suicides on hook at 5 gens leading to a 3v1 in just about every single game that is the issue. As I stated in my OP, 10 out of 10 games was a DC or suicide on hook at 5 gens.

Nobody's safe from it, even if they pretend to be. It wasn't always like that, as I said. Months ago maybe people would have complained about it regularly, but now it's just something we accept as normal. The new age pallet vacuum is still in the game as well.

The whacky goof who always means well with their altruism, but can't survive in chase for more than ten seconds. Often seen playing Ash or Steve.

Ash and Steve have the funniest cries when they step into a trap, or yell for some reason

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I think it's because of the way the devs have changed pallet hitboxes and pallet stuns. Used to be that you could swing at a pallet as it was getting dropped, and as long as you did it kind of late you'd just plonk the wood and not get stunned. Or you could swing through the pallet before it was fully dropped to hit the survivor AND get the pallet down. Now, if you're even close to the pallet at any point of it being dropped, instastun.

The stun hitbox has been increased like crazy. You can even step back, and yet still get stunned, basically forcing you to take the stun or else the survivor gets another go around, and that's the only way the pallet's getting thrown down. So now there's no winning with the advice you're given. It's either "Stop respecting pallets so much" or "Learn to respect pallets." The biggest thing about the big stunbox though is that there are pallets where you literally can't go through the walkway without getting stunned. The pallet inside near the back exit of East Wing RPD is one example, as were the pallets behind old Haddonfield's houses.

Well I’m glad to know it isn’t just me experiencing this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288783#Comment_3288783

The point being that unwinnable matches happen too often and for so little reason. Whether you AFK'd at the start for a whopping 5 seconds, or you had to hit a survivor 2-3 extra times because of Off The Record, DS, and Dead Hard. It's too often, which means there's an imbalance that needs fixing. If you focus on just the low and middle MMR players for your balancing, you open the flood gates for the broken stuff in the game to be abused at the top. But unfortunately that's how most people like it, having 2 killers be viable at top level.

Haha, it’s funny you mention the afk for 5 seconds at the start because that is so true! My batteries died in my controller at the very start of the match, and I lost like maybe 10-15 seconds switching battery packs. By the time I found a survivor 2 gens popped lol. The start is so crucial as killer! I play survivor though I can make a sandwich, swap out batteries, watch my cats paw at birds outside the window, and still not be in a bad situation upon return to the game lol.

P.S I don’t usually do all that as survivor, just so people don’t start saying im the cause of the horrendous solo Q situation 😂

  • @danielmaster87 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3288746#Comment_3288746

There's no such thing for a lot of us killer players, as he probably responded. We know how to chase, pressure gens, keep track of stuff, yadda yadda, and it's not helping. There are some things that survivors can do that you simply can't do anything about. Unfortunately, those are the most import things: the gen speed, the 3rd and 4th chances, 4% unhooks (basically a 5th survivor coming in out of nowhere for the save), looping at certain places that have no mindgame, etc. It's a nice thought that, "If I just stop camping and tunneling, I'll get better at chasing." But it's never gonna be that simple. People camp and tunnel because their reliance on chasing to win has betrayed them.

You’re absolutely right. Sometimes no matter what you do, you will still lose. That is the very nature of games. No one is the best all the time. There are games when I play perfectly, and still lose, but for me (me personally) those are the games I love the most. When I face solo Q the game teeters on the verge of boredom because it’s so easy, but boyyyyy when I face a comp SWF on comms, that my friend is the best. Those are the games I play this game for. Unfortunately though, those games are few and far between. But if I lose, I had a great time doing it.

  • Stop watching YouTube videos on the subject. Those guys play a ton, you can’t watch a vid and expect to be like them right from the jump. Use the videos as enjoyment, not as a guide. Learn the way killers operate, the very basics. Run them perkless until you understand the killer role. People watch Otz and he recommends these perks which is great and all, but the minute those perks don’t pan out you’ll get frustrated, and resort to camping/tunneling for wins, and that’ll work for a while but eventually you start getting rolled because you haven’t explored the other avenues of playing a killer. Map pressure, Gen pressure, when to chase, when not to chase etc. Killer is a super fun role, and I have to admit that after the killer patch, it’s way easier. Just don’t get frustrated from the start, practice makes perfect.

  • @gilgamer said:

What are you guys doing to entertain yourselves in this game right now Im so bored with every killer right now and the killers I usually enjoy feel awful lately. I usually play billy or bubba but the new map bugs make them kinda torture. Also if you're just gonna say "take a break:" dont next time I do Im probably never coming back to the game

I have 7000 hours in this game and I still enjoy playing killer. I dont have a favorite, I play them all equally. I enjoy playing different builds, experimenting with off the wall play styles, I find it very enjoyable. Every killer has multiple play styles. If you go into every match with the same build and the same play style you will get tired of playing.

  • @Hensen2100 said:

Tunnel and camp more is my thought. I make the decision to hard tunnel very early into the match. Usually my thought process is something like:

"Just downed this survivor 40 seconds in....*first gen pops*....ok im tunneling them to death ASAP"

No offense, but with that mentality you will never get better at map and Gen pressure

  • Yea the map is bad, especially for the killers that are highly mobile, Billy, Blight forget it, to many random things sticking out to bump into

  • Each & Every Solo Q teammate. In the mornings I get some decent teammates, but about midday/night the caliber of players goes right in the toilet. I figure all the good players probably group up with friends during that time because people get outta school/work, but it’s rough to play during those times.

  • The drop may because of all the bad reviews. I play on console and just happened to read the reviews available when downloading the game. According to those reviews this is like the most hated game on the planet lol.

  • Once you hit 30 minutes on DC, I’ve heard it doesn’t reset? Can anyone confirm this?

  • @NekoTorvic said:

It's endgame, and you decide to just stay under a pallet slugged. The killer has no way of knowing if you have power struggle/flip-flop or not. So it's either letting you bleed out for 4 minutes, or potentially giving you a free escape.

I know I, for one, will always let you bleed out. If you dont wanna bleed out, get out from under the pallet. If you don't wanna get out from under the pallet, don't blame the killer for not picking you up. If you're not gonna get out from under the pallet and then trash talk the the killer for refusing to pick you up, you're a bit entitled imo 🙄

    Cool story bro

I agree, hours are not an absolute indicator of skill- but I didn’t say that. I was speaking of new players. Whatever the value of “X” is, would be up to the devs to decide what is a fair amount of time for a new player to get acclimated to the game’s mechanic’s. And that’s what it’s really all about- someone who has never played before, getting a chance to learn killer movement like everyone before them did. But this doesn’t even have to be the answer. It was just an idea I offered to help new players, and that’s why I prefaced it with “maybe.”

If removing the stain would “barely make(s) a difference against experienced players…,” then how would that be “punishing somebody for playing your game a lot…??”

I don’t think you’re intention was positive. I think you just got rolled by a survivor group, and you want to change the game to make it easier for you.

So what you're essentially saying is that you're a lemming that would follow other lemmings off the cliff, because like lemmings its natural to follow the herd even though it isn't logical and will lead to your doom. You deserve better than that. We all deserve better than that.

When I see bad practices I call them like I see them. You, yourself in this thread agreed with me that costumes should be sold all year round. However now you're trying to pull the "you think your entitled", "you think your special" garbage because you have no actual valid arguments left. News flash no one is special and anti consumerism is bad for everyone.

extremely distasteful and unoriginal take. Do better.

It isn’t a bad practice what they are doing, it’s a good practice for making money. As for the lemming reference, I disagree with you completely, there is a complete difference between just and unjust. I don’t agree that they should change what they want to do, it’s their game. So I’m following no one. Just because you don’t like it, you feel you can just huff and puff and yell “I don’t like this, change it!” It’s true, you do have the right, but you doing it doesn’t mean anything. You aren’t special, you’re not a beautiful unique snowflake. Your sand in an ocean of sand. What BHVR is doing isn’t anti consumerism because you, and a few others don’t like it. You really need to research that definition if you want to argue in the name of it. I agreed that costumes in relation to cosplay should be sold all year round, and since you must equate it here than all DBD cosmetics should be made available in PUBG all year round. - Do better

  • You did when you said “we deserve better.” I didn’t develop the game, I don’t advocate for game sales, I don’t make YouTube videos advertising the game. So I know I don’t deserve better than what they have to offer. They want to do what they do that’s fine, I’ll prepare and plan for other moments when I can commit to their criteria.

  • Why do you think that? As I just said to the Garlic person, why do you believe yourself to be so special that the game should drop what they (the creators of the game) want to do? Please don’t say “because I’ll quit if they don’t” if you were going to quit you would’ve done that already, and not pulled out a soap box to preach in the forums.

Honestly in 2022 people shouldn't have to explain to you why anti consumer choice is bad and that is exactly what exclusive content is.

I think you’re confusing anti consumerism with capitalism. The real explanation I need is why in 2022 everyone believes they are special, and if what’s happening now doesn’t make me feel good, then the whole system needs to change. An explanation on that point would be appreciated.

    are you serious?

this is your way of defending this? When they are taking away stuff from the store that is currently available without limitations and some people might even try to save for them right now without knowing they get locked away?

Do you really feel that when they lock away these items, and release them only during their specific holiday, they are also removing part of your soul? Every seasonal/holiday timeframe they release holiday/seasonal specific cosmetics. If a person is unable to purchase those items during that time frame, they have all year to save for it next year.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

Right, and sometimes people cosplay as santa claus, sometimes as a present, sometimes as an elf or an ugly sweater. And your saying costume stores sell costumes all year round correct? good glad we agree selling costumes should be done all year round.

That argument is a valid argument. However, would you not agree that some items should be exclusive? Say you loved cosplay, and you could dress up as an elf anytime of the year, but just during October, Halloween stores offered a dark elf. You saved all year for that dark elf, and finally when October rolled around you bought it, now you own an exclusive costume that could only be purchased during October. However, it became February and you walked into that costume store and saw them selling that very costume you waited so long for last year, wouldn’t you be a little upset?

A full pumpkin? No, but I eat pumpkin pie all year round and if you had it your way I wouldn't be able to do that. I'm going to say we should be able to buy pumpkin pie all year round like we've been able to do. You know what else we've been able to buy all year round for the last 6 years? Holiday skins. WOW look at that.

Pumpkin pie isn’t holiday specific. A Christmas tree is. Try buying a Christmas tree in March. The point is, holiday items should be holiday specific.

  • @Lycidas said:

Cosmetic purchasing becomes anti-consumer when you attach FOMO tactics to it.

Using an artificial constraint to artificially increase the price or the sales of a digital good is considered anti-consumer.

Noone was complaining when christmas skins were sold all year round for auric cells only. Stop saying that "people only want free stuff". People want to be treated fairly, and that's not happening here.

I don’t see how selling a holiday item during that specific holiday is an “artificial restraint” it’s a specific, necessary restraint. It makes those items specific for that timeframe. BHVR is being called greedy and the like because they want to sell those items during the specified holiday…..And? If people want the item they will have to pony up the dough to buy it, plain and simple. People don’t want to do that, and are upset why? Because they can’t afford it now? Because they’d rather wait until it becomes available to purchase with shard? Because they rather use whatever auric cells they’ve accumulated through rifts? Whatever the reason behind people not wanting to buy the items now is the justification I use for stating that people just want stuff for free. They don’t want to spend for it now, but they want it now. Hence “for free.”

  • @BarnesFlam said:

    DBD is a paid game.

Every new DLC is a priced item.

Most of the skins are priced.

You have the option to buy battle pass tiers.

BHVR has ways of gaining money without using anti-consumer tactics. We are asking they DON'T USE ANTI-CONSUMER TACTICS SUCH AS THESE ONES.

How do you equate anti consumerism to cosmetic purchasing? Anti consumerism would be if they released a bug fix, but asked everyone to pay for the update. Cosmetics is just an accessory, that isn’t needed or required. Asking consumers to pay for something that just makes your character prettier isn’t anti consumerism. People just want to get free stuff for nothing.

Pretty straightforward. Most of have put hundreds of dollars in this game. That is not enough? Time limited cosmetics, which are usually in F2P games, are warranted here?

Out of curiosity, how do you expect the people that work on this game to earn a living? Cosmetics, and New Chapters, with the occasional rift. The DBD community DEMANDS new updates, bug fixes, and the like, do you believe that only takes 1 guy sitting in a cubicle? I’d imagine it takes teams of people working all the time to manage, and support a game that caters to hundreds of thousands of people on just about every continent of the earth. Those teams need to be paid. I’m sure they aren’t paid nearly enough, and I’m dumbfounded at how people can get so upset when they just want to be paid for their hard work. People aren’t paying for the game, then expected to pay for the basic skins. The cosmetics are game choices, not life choices, if you can’t afford it, don’t buy it, simple.

Honestly, #########. How greedy and scummy can you get?

The illogical arguments presented throughout this thread baffle me. It makes perfect sense to release a HOLIDAY skin during the appropriate holiday… This should be the case for each and every holiday skin, not just the Christmas ones. The argument has also been made that they are “scummy” for doing this, and “greedy” and I am shocked that a community that demands the greatest computer programmers that have ever lived be readily available at their beck and call, but oh no you better not be making any money while catering to my every need! Are you serious? Making holiday skins exclusive to holidays makes them feel more special, and yes more sought after. 2 birds with 1 stone. Create a demand with a special item, and make a little coin in the process. That’s just smart business.

  • I had a killer in RPD do something similar, but much more entertaining. I was the last one alive, and the killer closed the hatch. I was at the front gate, and the middle lobby hook was gone so, no hooks close. I was opening the gate and the killer came and downed me, tried carrying me to a hook, but I wiggled free and went back to the gate. I got a few more bits of the door bar removed before he came back and downed me. At this point I was dangerously close to bleeding out because I’d been slugged quite a bit of the game already. He tried carrying me again, realized he wouldn’t make it and dropped me. I could see he was frustrated because he kept slapping the wall. I thought he was just going to let me bleed out, but he picked me up and I wiggled free. I ran back to the gate and got it open and escaped luckily. The game had suicide on hook, and two DC’s, and sure I might have let the hook me, but he left me slugged, and kept shaking his head no after he downed me. It wasn’t my fault people dc’d.

  • No one likes Badham….. Is it Badham like Bad Ham? I don’t recall ever having Bad ham, it’s just a few short stops away from bacon, and bacon is delicious, who doesn’t like bacon? So by saying you don’t like Badham it’s basically like saying you don’t like bacon unless you’re a vegan, or a vegetarian, or meat is against your believe system, but I know they have many alternatives, and I’m sure the alternative bacon is just as delicious. So like Badham if you like bacon, or any of its deviations.
