I play them for the portals, I don't know what low tier killers you're talking about that aren't super into free mobility
For a killer to be strong they have to have 2 things:
- Mobility (Note, this can be made up for to an extent by having a strong defense. That's why killers like Hag and Trapper aren't trash)
- Chase potential
Demo has both and a good version of both at that. He can travel rapidly and down people just as fast.
A counter example would be Clown who moves at base speed and has pretty much no chase potential because his gas can just be ignored most of the time. (With the Freddy rework, he's just a weaker version of the Dream Demon)
A mid tier has one or the other. Old wraith had crazy mobility, but no chase potential (now he has neither without addons IMO), Huntress has incredible chase potential but no mobility.
This will sound rude, but if you unironically think old Freddy was better than the new one, none of your opinions should ever be taken seriously.

The portals are AMAZING, people do not know how to use them! You do know you can detect players close to INACTIVE portals by pressing the LT button right? (Xbox pounce charge button)
Here's what you need to do:
Use Corrupt Intervention, place portals behind walls or rocks really close to gens but not in the sight of repairing survivors or right next to the gen in plain sight when active, start a chase and if you can't find someone use the Pounce charge button to locate players that are close to both active and inactive portals all around the map, go through a portal and land a hit or even a grab because of the stealth time you have after going outside of the portal. Example (go to 02:28):
Good survivors will look around the gen area to see if there are portals, good survivors won't let you get a hit nor a grab off of portals, good survivors will pressure you so hard you'll never get away with chasing someone, hitting them, then juggling by going back to the portal.

Good spirits can hear your footsteps or use stridor. She can also bump into you even if you guessed what she's gonna do correctly, walking is also slow and if she sees that scratches don't continue she can just come out of her phase.
PS. Perks are not counterplay
Love how you say that, yet every ignorant person's solution on these forums to genrush is "running pop ruin etc."

When you can't know if she's phasing, where she is or how much time she has left on her phase. The spirit knows where you were before phase, she can see your scratches, she can see your blood, and she can hear you. Please explain to me how that's a mindgame.
She can't hear you if you have iron will, qnq also works for mindgames. You can also walk to avoid getting easily tracked.
-
The problem is, they don't even need 3k hours, an 800 hour survivor can loop non-nurse non-spirit killers endlessly with enough practice. I've had nothing but horrible games with Demo once I've reached purple ranks. Giant maps, unmindgamable loops, portals doing nothing because they're so easy to see, lunge does something, but it's not enough. I still get genrushed despite putting up pressure and having a gen protector build, so I switched to thana DL ruin pop, still does nothing. I'm gonna try the enduring + SF combo once I get it.
In my opinion, he's like Ghostface, where only half of his kit is useful. His portals need to be buffed to where they're less visible and he needs to be able to reset them, but in turn not be able to place them next to gates.

That's not a mechanical difference.
A mechanical difference would be something like SWF having repair speed penalties or as OP proposed, that they can't rank up or gain BP. The things that makes SWF strong aren't mechanical advantages because as you said, it comes primarily from their ability to coordinate.
As far as the game is concerned SWF is just a way to put several people to the same lobby and nothing more.
And as far as killers who want to have fun are concerned, SWF is too strong and the game wasn't designed to have that feature in it, but it's in because of massive demand.
-
If I get Head On'd one more time, I'll personally go to BHVR headquarters in Canada and pull out a job application for a game designer, just to make a flamethrower killer to watch them bitches burn.
No, seriously, I hate that perk so much.

@MemberBerry oh I agree 100% I've been saying console is a completely different game all together.
You've made an excellent point and I really hope the Devs see this. Your example is spot on as well!
Thanks man
-
Instaheals? INSTAHEALS?! Dude, KEYS are still in the game and not a word is being uttered.
-
Because DBD is one game on consoles, another game on NA PC, and a completely different game on EU/AU PC. Console players are mostly survivor mains who are extremely casual, NA PC is more equal, a mix of casuals with a bit of tryhards, and EU/AU PC is mostly tryhards who play both sides, who are a part of those 3 minute genrush videos.
It's more about platforms and regions than it is about killer vs survivor. I mean, take a look at Monto's videos vs TrU3Ta1ent's videos, you'll see the difference between NA and EU survivors.
-
Maybe it's time to learn to unhook wisely instead of unhooking in front of the killer.
-
Please don't dude. I'm a part of 2 DBD PS4 groups and this hatemail garbage is filling both of them. We get it, 80% of the survivor mains are oblivious and unreasonable, nothing we can do about it.
-
Another killer that succumbs to genrush. Lunge is good, portals are borderline useless because you can't replace them and they can be destroyed easily.
-
@oxygen said:
No.
There's no mechanical difference between solo and SWF as far as the game itself is concerned, and that won't ever change.
You're sarcastic, right? A SWF team has a much higher chance of winning because of coordination potential.
-
Considering how easy it is to genrush him, I can't blame you for wanting to play against him.
-
Most legacy players ragequit the game after the changes after the big june 2018 patch started. Trust me, legacy players were nothing back then, they were just more toxic and knew 1 or 2 more mindgames than your average survivor. I played against a legacy a few days ago, nothing difficult in terms of mindgames.
-
Won't happen. People love bullying killers and having spoonfed victories via genrush too much to have solo play be buffed like that. I agree 100000%, but I'm just tossing out the reality.

@MemberBerry Well not reworked but nurse needs bug fixing and some slight nerfs (+ the addon nerfs) and spirit just needs to give survivors more information so they can act accordingly instead of trying to guess something random and praying that it works.
If you can see where she's phasing, it deletes all mindgames. If that's what you want, go ahead, but good luck finding a match at high ranks because no moron will play against you then.

The way I see it, if you remove the current Moris and allow the green and yellow bloodpoint offerings to Mori people you have two-hooked, you fix the balance problems of Moris without making Moris their own separate useless offerings.
But then what's the point of using mori's if it doesn't get a person off a gen? It's pointless if your suggestion becomes reality, because then it'd become better to just hook them for pop.

1. 1 survivor dead is huge for the killer
2. did I say they were?
3. I thought we were talking about moris?
Well you say mori's are game changing, and need to be removed, but mori's are all people cry about, compared to how broken keys and toolboxes are.
-
@FireHazard said:
The offering by nature is unbalanced in the first place, as it takes a Survivor out of the game after 1 hook...
For the sake of a full blown discussion like the other thread... I'll agree that an Ivory mori is immensely more fair than say an Ebony, because an Ivory only Kills one Survivor, as an Ebony kills all Survivors after 1 hook.
But I will say the mechanic IS unbalanced, regardless of me agreeing that a Ivory is less severe... So is a Ivory, or in-general a one Kill mori fair? No, but its more fair than say facing an Ebony.
If you're gonna suggest to nerf mori's to be only on last hook, then what's the point of even bothering to make animations for each killer's mori?
-
@artist said:
I disagree. an offering shouldn't be as game changing as removing 2 hook states from any survivor
- It only does that to 1 survivor
- And keys and toolboxes are fine?

@TheRoyalOwl said:
Think about this than.
You Mori a survivor and there is 3-4 gens left without ruin
C - chased F - free to do whatever P - pressured to get an unhook H - hooked
You will usually have one tracking perk so finding a survivor isn't much of a problem, so you are currently in a chase with one.
1 - C 2 - F
You down the survivor you are chasing and hook them. Because you ( hopefully ) have BBQ you know where another survivor is and begin a chase with them.
1 - C 1 - H 1 - P
While you are chasing this survivor there will be no gens being done since the only other survivor is getting the unhook. Now if you are good with the killer you are using you should be able to down the survivor you are chasing which from there will just reset to the last part until someone dies.
Now if there were 4 survivors left in this game the survivor's wouldn't be in a constant cycle of recusing, being chased, on the hook, and working on a generator for a little. This causes the killer to actually make meaningful decisions in who to chase ( the dude working a gen, the one going for the unhook, or maybe search the area for the survivor i don't know the location for ). With the Ivory you don't have to make any decisions as when you start to chase one the other has to go for the unhook.
Ivory makes juggling possible, pressuring 3 while 1 is rushing away from all the mess makes juggling impossible.

Demogorgon is a MF-ing 3 meter tall monster from another dimension, weighting god knows how much, presenting pretty much a perfect hunting organism. Him breaking pallets with brute force and lunging as far as he does over windows make sense. Legion members couldn't even solo the Clown, let alone break pallets when climbing over them.
On a serious note, devs are most likely planning to rework them, their current state is a temporary plasterfix.

DS is still a second chance perk for survivors that either don't wait to unhook when it's safe or for survivors that don't know how to properly escape. Same goes for Borrowed Time.
Adrenaline is still a broken perk that can easily reward you for messing up , just because your team mates did the objectives.
Dead Hard rewards you for messing up your loops.
Four survivor perks that can all reward you for messing up. So what are you complaining about? And if the perks are not enough don't forget your insta heal :P
Why is Kate in your PFP so out of frame?

Lobby dodging should be punished unless its due to ping. You want to play a game? Then play the game and dont dodge until you found the easiest initial situation.
Oh yeah let me just play a 3 minute game against 4 toolboxes, or a 7 minute game against a key user. If your logic is made real, a lot of killers will wave goodbye, just as they did during the howling grounds patch.

Now I don't actually think that, but I'm just trying to show you that it works both ways. I don't support dcing and I don't mind lobby dodging but keep in mind that survivors are people as well, and many of them don't want to play against certain killers / addon combos, just like you don't want to play against certain items.
Do you unironically believe Nurse and Spirit need to be reworked? If so I'm not even gonna bother arguing...

@MemberBerry If you have an issue with a gen (last one) being at 85% and you have PGTW, but you choose to protect it because of a "broken loop" then you've accepted that the other gens might get done. How is this exactly survivor's fault?
You made the choice to stick around instead of possibly downing a survivor and using your pop on that gen.
Also, actually spreading out gens IS a legit strategy (my friends and I do it all the time), it counters a 3-gen strat, so... "giving up every chase" isn't a strategy at all, but it also isn't what I said. I said SOMETIMES you have to drop THE chase.
By the time I down someone, the gen is already done. 2 of them were swf btw.

Killers are the power role.
But really. The "Power Role" is whoever is better. Survivors are only the "power" role if they are better than the killer.
Yes I definitely feel like the power role as anyone but Nurse and Spirit...../s
I definitely feel the power when I have to abandon my prey because they ran to a BS loop or when I sweat like crazy to end each chase in less than 30s while they pump out gens.

@MemberBerry Lol what?
You said it yourself they sealed the portals and were smart about where to fix gens.
So when you down someone you don’t outplay because technically you held M1 too? Kinda sense a double-standard here.
You chose to chase at the strongest loop in the map but complained about it afterwards. Sorry but sometimes you have to stop chasing and go find someone else.
Okay, let me repeat myself. There was a gen at 85% around the said broken loop, I had to protect it, so they had a massive advantage. Also, spreading out gens isn't any sort of outplaying if you always force the killer to give up every chase because you and your swf buddy are always genrushing together.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/704268#Comment_704268
@MemberBerry It's simple. You can't win every. single. match.
Survivors did a good job in keeping the last 3 gens separate and outplayed you by sealing your portals. So, at that point you do your best, because more than likely you've already lost the match.
How exactly did they "outplay me"? They just held m1 together, forcing me to give up searching for hiding survivors because discordance was constantly active, and they hugged the most broken loop in the map.
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
I mean I think that anyone who plays killer at least casually knows that sometimes you just try your best because the match is pretty much over, same with survivors accepting match is over when the killer has already hooked 3 people and no gens have been touched.
I think the whole “The game is survivor sided” is dumb and clearly from someone who is just inexperienced.
Name me one thing that I, as Demogorgon, could've done there? All of my portals were being constantly destroyed before I could apply any pressure to them, I had no time to search for people because discordance was active 80% of the match. I had 1 gen left, 1 at the storehouse, 1 outside of it and 1 on the other side of the map, with the storehouse one at 85% progress. The BS window was open, so they could just hop in and out without worrying 1 bit. I couldn't walk 2 feet away without them swarming the storehouse gen like raccoons.
And please be smart and rational and don't just slap a "pressure harder" and be done with it.
-
@Mochan said:
It's dumb advice. the game is not survivor sided. They just outplayed you. Bring Bamboozle next time if the window is too strong for you.
What you should accept isn't that the game is survivor-sided, you should accept that you got outplayed by a better team of survivors, and move on.
You call camping a 0 mindgame window that's near a 85% gen outplaying me? What's next, is looping on blood lodge also considered outplaying the killer?

So you have multiple survivors working on gens together as opposed to alone and every time you put a portal down they cleanse it? They aren't playing optimally at all so it sounds like you just had a bad game.
I suppose you watch a lot of TydeTyme and Marth88, because they're the only 2 people I've ever heard recommend not doing gens together but spreading out. I understand that, but 90% of the survivors don't do that, which is proven by my discordance being active for like 70% of the match at least. And besides, they stopped destroying the portals after they completed the objectives, so I couldn't place them whenever. This is why I'd recommend allowing him to refresh portals but make him unable to place them near exits.
-
@justarandy said:
The best you can do is recoding those hardcore matches and show it to us. We can always give advice for improvements OR when you already played as optimal as a human is possible we can show it the devs to ask them explaining this unbalance nonsense. It's win-win
I play at low graphics, even tabbing out for longer than 10 seconds slows down my performance. Tho I am planning on getting a new PC in a few months.

well if you were looped around "fun" and "definitely not infinite windows" you pretty much have to move on, some maps to be playable require survs to not use those which is silly year ago devs made "fixing "not infinite" windows" well now there is 50/50 they will spawn or other window will spawn(except ironworks there window will always spawn)
well i doubt anyone will ever do stuff like that but do you know how long that game took and how long it took you to get 1st down? because if you didnt get 1st down too fast its normal you lose thats how game works, as well as sometimes you can 4men slug and win game on spot, as well you can just lose when 1st chase takes over 60sec and survs want to push gens(those who believe rank matter will push gens)
ruin can buy you some time but if you cant get 1st down fast every slowdown in world wont help you xd "Discordance, Pop, Ruin and Corrupt" have you considerate changing build and getting some perks that will help you in chase?? if you have a lot of maps with "definitely not infinite windows" i suggest bamboozle, on normal basis enduring/brutal strenght (if you respect pallets better survs will punish you as hard as possible)
I got my first down from a gen that 2 people were working on, so I pushed 1 away and got the other. But it still wasn't enough. Every time I took a MF-ing breath, discordance popped. 80% of the game there were 2 survivors on a gen. There was also 1 toolbox and 1 styptic agent.

in the end there is little you can do against optimal survivors...
you shouldnt get annoyed by losing a game against them, you probaply didnt really stand a chance in the first place anyway. if you can make peace with that, you will be able to enjoy this game a lot more (i know its hard sometimes).
that does not mean you cant come here on these forums and share your thoughts on this games current state and also make suggestions to change those problems.
gen rush for instance is a very hot topic on this forum, so the devs certainly know about it - and i heard secondary objectives are already worked on.
anyway, i wish you good luck in your next games!
and if they ever annoy you too much, remember: we have red moris. get a round going where you dominate them and you'll feel better xD

See here's the thing, the reason I countered those points is BECAUSE of the exact reason they were created.
I have no idea if you were on the forums at the time of the riots that took over the forums, but people hated Legion with a passion if they faced him as Survivor. Even Killers hated him. (Aka the majority, because the minority actually had no issue 4king with him)
The Killer was flawed from the start, and I feel like the devs knew that but they didn't really know what to do to fix him... They couldn't just rework him before the release, that wouldn't make any sense. I feel their only hope was to release him right there, and than fix the issue as he progressed.
If this ISN'T what was on their mind, than they probably thought the Killer was fine until literally EVERYONE AND THEIR MOM pointed out every flaw about him when facing him... You can't make how he is right now balanced you just can't, unless they reworked his power its not possible to do anything with his current one. (That I know of)
Here's some of the points Survivors hated about him.
- Mending and healing takes too long
- Its too easy to get hit by his FF
- Its not fun mending and healing every time when FF hits you
- He vaults WAY TOO FAST, its impossible to get away from him
- Franks mixtape is TOO OP!!!!!!
Now here's some points why Killers (Majority) hated him.
- Its too hard to 4k
- its too hard to down anyone in-general
- Games take WAY TOO LONG!
- No perk combos can be done on him! (Disproved right at the start of his inception but people still pressed on this point regardless.)
And what the heck, here was some bugs people abused that made facing him literal hell. (All are nerfed and or fixed, so no i'm not giving out bug info to people.)
- Ruin because you didn't actually need Ruin if you just used Thanatophobia
- The moonwalking and looking down at where scratch marks were to run the mend timer out "bug"
- Franks mixtape, because getting instantly downed with two or three FF hits was annoying...
- Double knife add-on combo would make the mend timer increase every time a new FF hit was given to you, this lead to the point where some FFs took 10 minutes...
- Stab wound study also made it annoying but not as much as Franks mixtape did
- His speed add-ons made running from his FF almost impossible...
- He couldn't lose FF when missing a hit, so people just spammed the hit till they hit the Survivor.
This is just some of why people despised him, and literally people were QUITTING THE GAME because of him...
And I just said, time to lay off new chapters and rework Legion. Much better to do it now than wait 1,5 years like we had to with Freddy.
