Eesh, this makes me feel quite good about my swfs. at least one of us runs kindred... thought we're too... chaotic... to be useful...
Kindred is definitely a necessity in solo queue I will not argue against not it's very useful when you cannot communicate with your teammates. even if it's just a two-man survive as friends if one of you isn't going for the save and one of the randoms is then you'll be able to know that the random is going for that safe and not you or your teammate.

Solo q is still a pain with bots
Yes, I admit it is but keep in mind, I only got 2 terrible games out of 10 with a game that went somewhat well. No, I am not calling them terrible because I died, but because they were crouching around doing nothing. People who had borrowed time didn't get saves, for example. They all just did whatever they wanted. There was lack in coordination.
The SWF group with Nancy and Bill had that coordination but Nancy made the Bill who was injured and dead on get the save instead of her who was fully healed and only on second hook. Just because there's communication doesn't mean you're good.

@MadLordJack said:
Solo que is fine if you have good teammates, I've seen no-one say otherwise. But it is this unfortunate fact that breeds a lot of survivor entitlement, I.E: "My teammates suck so I need strong perks and items. Don't you dare touch my DS/UB/DH/BT/Key build or I'll never be able to play again."
Not a great argument, and this comes from a solo player. Teammates are the issue, and I can safely say that most games have at least 1 potato that can lose a match by themselves, but if all good solo's were matched with good players then everyone would quickly realise that SWF isn't the real issue with DBD.
My main build is Adrenaline, Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, and whatever fourth perk I run. Like @Demonl3y Everytime you play solo doesn't mean you'll get stuck with potatoes. This was just meant to be a test for the whole thing with solo being compared to SWF, do I entirely agree?
No, because there is still that lack in communication between the teammates if the are all solo queue. But I don't disagree with it either, what I learned from the experiment is experience in the game plays a key role in how you and your teammates play. One may be better at looping and takes the killer off your hand without words being spoken. It's all in analyzing how your teammates operate.

Did neither the bill nor the nancy run kindred? you'd think kindred is standard for swf to tell someone if anyone's coming to save them...
Neither ran Kindred, I checked

Survivor - Feng Min & Nea
She was the very first survivor I played due to her perks helping me not blow up the gen and I found that useful as a starter player who couldn't hit skill checks. I ended up having her as the only character that had levels on her which resulted in her being my first Prestige 3 Level 50.
Nea because I like her character design and her backstory, got into her last month.
Killer - Ghostface
Because I've always been a fan of the Scream franchise. I watched it when I was younger, but 3 & 4, will always be a Trainwreck, the series was decent.

But sometimes the hook kills you even when spam pressing 'A' happened to my friend and it still happens sometimes cuz he's eating and isn't paying attention. Sometimes people don't do it on purpose, they might have to go irl. You never know the reasoning. So let's say it was an innocent person without ill intent, why should they be punished?
Edit: Trying to unhook is understandable in higher ranks, but in lower ranks, come on. With new MMR (only on Xbox rn but will be on other things most likely) you just might get put with noobs. So that's not on them, that's because the game marked you as a noob level player. I main survivor as well, and I have no problem with people killing themself on hook, because it usually benefits me, the killers I play against are chill.

I feel for you on this, I don't play killer much but before the new matchmaking system was implemented on Xbox (I obviously play Xbox) I ran a clown in purple ranks around while 4 gens were popped and forced him to camp me pretty much, give the dude some love

Secondly, no. They’re not trying to hide anything. Right now in terms of escapes, SWF groups aren’t that much higher, and since this is how survivor’s success is currently measured (by, you know, survivng) then it isn’t a priority. With the new MMR system, these metrics of success will change, allowing the devs to measure success in a different way. This different way could then be used to show that SWF needs to be addressed ASAP, or the stats could remain the same.
You don’t have access to official stats, BHVR does. They’re more trustworthy here.

Rough road ahead. Good luck. Turn up your headset volume as much as tolerable (I have it on 74/100). Sounds are your echolocation wallhacks. Have graphics on low. Turn off Anti aliasing. If your hardware allows, add lines for up to 120 fps. Perkwise, Pop is imo the strongest killerperk. Corrupt is up there as well, both are very helpful to slow the genrush at higher ranks. Dont get tilted, which is all too easy as killer.
Quick question cuz I am big dumb, what is anti-aliasing and how do I turn it off?

This is how unbalanced this game is when coming onto SWF.
You're the one who DCed though, if you think they're doing SWF, leave then, no one told you to stay. If you're already in a match just go afk it by looking in a corner, when gens are all done, force survivors out by opening exit gate. Cuz no one forced you to DC. You did that yourself.

You dont need tips. Just dont care and have fun. That's how killer works. The trick is to have passion and fun. That's how you play this game. Otherwise it's a angry competetive game. But if you have passion, you will understand survivor is more fun than killer sometimes. And sometimes killer is more fun than survivor. It depends on your mood. You dont need tips unless you want to play with purple rank tryhards.
Ah, I know those parts, I just need to get a feel for it. I wanna be someone who can try help settle toxicity between both sides and make it to purple or red ranks cuz I know that in between ranks you get different types of people. Sure I'll have that toxic SWF group here and there, but I won't let that stop me from improving which is why I wanted the tips, because most survivors (I've met quite a few good ones) are sweaty try hards using insults like "baby killer" "gg ez" stuff like that. Plus I feel like this could help settle my anger issues by testing my limits, I get over petty things, but I need to learn my limits of how much I can take so I know when I'll need to take a break. Survivor side doesn't do that for me.

Definitely know that, I was gonna get BBQ but didn't have enough iridescent since I got ruin the week before. For clown I don't wanna buy his so I will prioritize Colorophobia and Pop a bit less then BBQ and Surveillance. Well, I find thana unreliable. Don't get me wrong, it can be good on them, but I think it is overrated.
Legion can have very different builds based on what addons you want to use. Want to use Extra range addons? There are builds for that (Dark Devotion, Dying Light, Corrupt Intervention, and Pop is a good one). Want to use Legion Pin? There is a build for that (Thana, Blood Echo, Pop the Weasel, and BBQ). Using the Iridescent Pin? There are at least two builds for that (Unnerving, Pop, overcharge, and Surveillance for an anti-gen build, or Colorophobia, Sloppy Butcher, Blood Echo, and Spies for an anti-heal build. They both take advantage of the map wide TR).
Builds only work in you understand how to use each perk, though. And about seeing what works.
I see, this helps alot! Looks like I'mma have to level a few killers since shrine isn't always reliable.

I'm glad to have a civil talk about it too. I never met any disrespect, I was just genuinely curious about why survivors were upset about killers throwing the game to target them in a team-based game
Well I hope what we both discussed, and others who have made valid points shed some light to you. Because in the end, a killer can tunnel and/or camp and still earn more BP, while the survivor who was the victim of said things only gets the 8000 BP (if good at running a killer around) in boldness category, and a bit of BP when they die or someone DCs.

In the Killer's defense, they get points in all their categories in the process of doing their objective, while survivors can only get points in one(which is incredibly dumb, btw)
Thank you for having a civil conversation with me, I was slightly worried you'd be someone who seems they always have to be right. But I hope what I said can somewhat help to shed light. Of course some survivors may disagree with me, and they have a right, but half the time they make bait comments or stupid reasoning. At least you, and some other people took the time to answer clearly, it's refreshing.

I still don't get why some people think the Killer should be punished if the survivors are too dumb to take advantage of them camping/tunneling. Granted, I never do either because it's boring as ######### and I need my Chili, but I think it's silly that some survivors think killers should be punished for camping when they are placing zero pressure on the other survivors
I don't think they should be punished for camping/tunneling, never said that as it is an actual method. I just find it annoying that because a survivor gets tunneled the whole game they are only being rewarded in one category, while the killer gets rewarded for chasing, downing, and even hooking a survivor. Yet if the other survivors do nothing who their teammate gets chased the whole game and get punished for their teammates incompetence.
-
@CosmicParagon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1277636#Comment_1277636
assuming you're competent at chases and the killer is a camper/tunneler, you should be able to run a killer around for 1-1.5 gens, possibly even 2 since campers tend to be bad in chases. You have two minutes on the hook, plus anywhere between 1-15 seconds of travel time to the hook, which is easily enough time for the other three survivors to slam out 2-3 more generators with time to spare to grab you. If they have BT or if you have DS, you're as good as escaped, especially if they actually take a hit for you instead of vanishing the instant they unhook you.
Yes, that's true, but you have to take into account the fact that while you're busy, and let's say doing solos (sometimes happens in SWF), your teammates can be incompetent and not do the damn generators. Also over half the time when you're doing solos, your teammates hook farm you, and when they do try to take a hot, if the killer is tunneling they'll avoid that survivor completely and go for the recently unhooked person. You asked what some survivors think tunneling is, so there's your answer, someone who always is the one getting chased by the killer while the killer avoids any other survivors.
-
@CosmicParagon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1277274#Comment_1277274
That's the point. If you slip up and make a mistake, you should be punished. Killers are punished HARD for the mistakes they make against any team with a higher combined IQ than warm porridge, so why should Survivors be any different?
But yet you expect them to hold off the killer for 5 gens. People slip up even if they are amazing at chases, no one will be 100% perfect. And that's not the killer or survivors fault, but there's an issue when that same killer refuses to chase other survivors even when given opportunity but chases that one survivor relentlessly.

- First off, pick a killer and stick to them. Learn them as best you can: their nuances and tricks for looping and maps. Deathslinger is very different to Legion, which is different to Hag... you get what I am saying. Learn one killer so you have a fall back plan when learning others. See what your playstyle is, as that, in combination with the killer, will help you have the most fun.
- You will probably fail... a lot... most likely due to bad match ups/RNG, but try to see what you can do better later in the match or in the next one. Try to find enjoyment where you can. If you get nobody, fine, at least you are trying and learning. If you get a 4k, great! You beat them.
- Monto, Otzdarva (he uses his account Not Otzdarva), and Farmer John are all decent killer players. You can watch them on Youtube or Twitch. Spacecoconut is the best Hag main I know, and taught me a lot about her. They can give you tips about almost any killer (although most streamers do not know how to play legion well. If you want tips, I can give them to you as a legion main).
- int3r4ct has guides on every killer, plus detailed breakdowns of their abilities, strengths and weaknesses, and some good perk builds in his series: Entity Education.
- I, personally, would never take anything Bricky says seriously. He does not play DBD on the regular and fails to see the potential in certain killers because of his bias.
- If you want a decent killer, get Oni (or Hag or Doc if you are on PC. Hag + Doc comes with Console basekit wit decent perks. Huntress is also really good in the right hands). Their perks may not be great (with exception of Nemesis), but Oni themselves are quite good.
- If you cannot buy any licensed killers, wait for their perks in the bloodweb and get those asap. You can get non-licensed characters in the shop for Iridescent shards at any time, but you can't with licensed characters, nor will their perks be easy to obtain from the shrine.
- The DBD Wiki is another great source if you are looking for something in particular:
When you have their perks, just have fun messing around. You'll find a build that works and is fun, and you'll be a good enough killer by this time where you can make the most of every aspect of killer.
I hope this helps.
Thanks so friggen much!! I actually am curious now that I've met a Legion main, any perk set ideas, I know Thanophobia (probs spelt that wrong) is good, but what about the other 3?

Or they ran to me in hopes that the killer Would change targets. Sometimes they did sometimes the killer kept going for the same person. One thing that happens once in a while tho is if a killer knew I did better then my teammates they let me live. And sometimes they just pull me away when I go to open the gate to escape. Usually it’s Michael Myers who Hates when I try to open the gates. 😂.
There was this one time a killer let me go because I was dead on hook and I accepted my date, they said I was playing their fav survivor too. So that was fun, but I do kinda hate when people farm with the killer as it kinda sucks the fun out of it.

Just never get downed 4head ez counter
Jokes aside, tunneling is a valid strategy. Although, you have to take into consideration things that happen very frequently. Lets say I'm hook bombed by a guy with no BT and the killer is right on our asses, what am I supposed to do? It isn't as simple as saying you have experience, so you should be fine. Sometimes, no amount of experience will save you in this game.
This, no one can hold off the killer forever, one wrong slip up whether it be from the person being tunneled will get them killed.
-

Then theres really no reason to be upset if you get tunneled. Ranks don't matter, bloodpoints obviously don't matter since survivors like to slam out gens and leave immediately, so what's the big deal? Loop him for 5 gens and leave for free with adrenawin
You understand not everyone runs adrenaline due to it being an end game perk and they can't guarantee that they'd be able to survive til end game, especially with the chance of the killer having NOED because teammates don't wanna cleanse totems. Why should the person being tunneled also be the one to cleanse the totems of in game hexes and the end game hex? Doesn't seem like their fault, plus teammates in solos can sometimes not understand the concept of opening the exit gate. Let's say the person being tunneled held the killer off for 5 gens, chances are some people may wanna get bold points and try to get chased by the "baby killer who got held off by 'x' survivor til end game" and get the possible down by NOED instead of having braincells and opening the gate. Also the fact that the survivor being tunneled might get a depip because they only got chased and didn't get to do any other category.

Considering you refuse to tell me what you think tunneling is, I'm gonna assume you believe that the killer "tunneled" you after you go back to gens injured and get downed right away
The definition of tunneling based on how I perceive it is when a killer chases you the entire game. Another survivor in the killer's line of sight? Nah, screw them I'mma keep on the survivor I've been chasing while gens get popped. So to sum it up, I consider tunneling to be when a killer absolutely refuses to chase another survivor even when given the opportunity to.
As others have said though, pallets run out, windows get blocked if used to much or killer has bamboozled. Next thing you know, if you were able to run killer for those popped gens, if they have NOED they get speed boosted. When take that speed boost, and bloodlust, whelp, time to hook and insidious camp (if insidious is used). Because near end game when all gens are popped and doors have yet to be opened, most likely killer will camp just for that one kill, likely more if you team isn't coordinated with the rescue and, if used noed isn't cleansed.

Yes, Going down 2 health states will result in the survivor going into the dying state. I have tried to make it balanced because Survivors will know that the goop is getting closer by each second. If u want me to make it even more balanced, I can make it so that the goop can no longer swallow dropped pallets whole. I suppose I could let the cooldown be paused. But it’s not really tunnelling tho. Because the injured survivor that has left the killers terror radius could have been a survivor that took a hit for someone or so. To balance Dying presence a little bit more, I could make it so that the last survivor the killer hits, their aura is shown when they leave the terror radius. Does that make sense?
Yeah, it makes sense, but you don't have to take the swallow whole pallet out, it's similar to the breaking animation just quicker which would make the game interesting. I hope you don't see me as a whiney survivor main, I try and see things from killer's perspective as well cause I know how toxic survivors can be. Heck, I even made an idea for a killer as well. But I think it should put them in broken state, but make it last less then when Legion puts them in broken state. That way they can't just insta-knock
-
The pink add-on that says the survivor goes down two health states, would it put them in dying state or broken. Because if the survivor goes down one health state, it's injured, if they go down another, it's dying state. So it basically makes it one-hit madness unless they only can use the add-on a few times. Also a suggestion for Dying Presence, if you get into a chase with a survivor while the cool down is happening, it should pause the cool down. Like how if Legion chases a survivor when they need to mend, the timer pauses, or when Pig chases a survivor with a trap on their head, it pauses the trap timer. Because if there is no cool down that just means the killer can tunnel the survivor the whole game with no issues.
-
For those who don't get the joke, go away lmao. But in all honesty this is basically the killers who complain on this forum when things don't go their way, thanks @chenais for the laugh.
I really needed that after reading all these survivor mains complaining about killers, and killer mains complaining about survivors. Like it's a game, they should chill lmao, just put suggestions and such, hats off to you lmao.

2: survivors can open the gate like a normal one, but after getting close to the exit line, it gets blocked and they can't leave.Killer of course would know what gate is real or not. Orange auras = real gates / Red(?) auras = fake gates.
Yeah except how would that be fair to survivors against a killer with NOED, or a Tier 3 Michael. Doesn't seems very fair dude. No this isn't me being a whiny survivor main, this is actual facts, cuz a killer can just insta-knock you, maybe instill something so it's balanced for both.
Don't say they can make a perk that helps because that's one perk slot wasted so us survivors can tell the difference. But if you want your idea to be implemented make it a ultra rare offering that is secret.

Keys:
Don't allow more than one survivor to escape through the hatch with a key.
Add an animation, i'd say 10 seconds it's a lot, make it 5
Or don't do any of the above and make the game so it gives you a black pip if more than 2 survivors go through the hatch.
Moris:
Make the pink one so it's required at least one hook per each survivor.
Green one to work when you hooked the survivor you want to Mori twice
Yellow make it base kit as a gift from the entity and give it a different effect.
Or to me, just remove the pink one and I'm good, i like the animations but it's just making the gameplay not fun. At least for the keys the survivors must work their asses. Though I still find it very frustrating going against them and since I'm a red rank I've encountered them much more often.

10 seconds make it 5 or 4
Every key should only allow 1 person
What's the point of bringing a mori if it can only kill already dead people plus the cool down makes it more useless
how about this
The killer is free to mori downed survivors after every survivor has been hooked once
This rewards killers for not tunneling and switching targets. It also gives killers the choice of hooking survivors a second time for more points or just killer them
That sounds good, thanks for feedback
