I understand that there are balance issues right now, but the devs are already taking steps to balance things out for killers. I don't think a strike is necessary.

Maybe not necessary, but it shows them that we need these changes now and not in a few months

  • Basically I agree with you.
as killer its a lot easier to earn bloodpoints than as survivor, especially if you play stealthy.

However, if you play as SWF and genrush, I am confident that you earn bloodpoints quite quickly

Also a thing you shouldnt forget is that if survivor would earn as much BP as killer, then there would be 1 reason less to play killer

  • That would be kinda insane if we are honest.
    No, thats not a solution

  • @jeridan said:

Oh and some advice against tunneling, if you got hooked, you should be aware that you are closer to death and shouldnt be some of the clicking tbagging idiots and play stealthy instead

And this works how when the killer runs right back to the hook because he was "patrolling" nearby and tunnels you? How do you even get the chance to play stealth?

Then the survivor that unhooked you farmed you, thats not the killers fault

  • @qpwoeiruty said:
First, I play survivor. Second, I fully endorse camping when someone does like 99% of the things that survivors do that warrant it (tbagging click click flashlights looping etc.) Why camp someone who gets a flashlight save though? Like I find a yellow flashlight no addons, and happen to blind the killer, thats like an automatic red emblem for altruistic. Now I gotta loop you the rest of the game because of the salt.

Camping someone is just a game mechanic too btw, in case you didnt know
Oh and saving someone with a flashlight gives you the same feeling as being striked by DS, it takes away all the accomplishment that you earned during the chase

SWF players can still dominate without perks.

Yes but it would be a start at least

It would be more like a "1 step forward and 4 steps back" kind of a thing.

    Explain the 4 steps back?

Without perks, survivors still have access to vital info like totem placements, killer perks, killer's position, their own positions, info regarding status of gates, location of hatch, location of items and chests and so on. The killer's advantage is the element of mystery that the survivors are surrounded by. The killer suffers when they're no mystery and the fear of the unknown is lost. More than 4 steps, I guess.

All these things you named are already a thing NOW in a SWF. Removing perks of SWF players would get the whole thing closer to some actual "balance", do you agree here?
Better remove the perks instead of ignoring the problem like they have done, and still doing I guess

Yes, as I said, it's a step in the right direction but not enough. Although I still think removing perks for SWF survivors might not be the best idea. Instead of losing all perks, the system can have a hierarchy system. For every survivor in the SWF team, the entire team loses one TIER of all their perks. So if it's just two SWF members, their TIER III perks will become TIER II and so on. If it's 4 SWF members, each member loses 2 perks and the remaining become TIER I. This system should remove perks at random.

But removing all perks for ALL forms of SWF teams might not be a good idea since it would punish smaller SWF teams and also solo survivors since they'd be the only ones with perks. We shouldn't be discouraging people from using the mode at all, but instead just make it a bit harder for them and give the killer a chance to catch up.

The suggestion was to remove a perk for every person in the SWF, i.e. smaller teams are not as hard punished as 4 mans. But well, its a bad idea overall trying to balance the game like this but they need to do ANYTHING about SWF now

It's still better than the devs idea of buffing solo survivors to the level of SWF survivors lol I mean I don't even know who comes up with such horrid game design decisions hope it's not stefan because he's so cute

In my opinion the only logical way to balance SWF is indeed by buffing solo survivors by giving them ingame voicecomms and nerfing the whole survivor kit, everythign else is just trying to ignore the core problem

Mine wasn't planned out till the very end of the match.

I was trying to do the Myers' achievement to kill everyone with the tombstone but the problem was the gens got completed fast. I did hook two survivors to bait people in but they just killed themselves on the hook and one left through the trapdoor with a key. I got to the trapdoor before the other survivor but we were at you guessed it...a standoff. I thought "#########, he is gonna get this hatch..." Till i remembered my tombstone i never used in the match and had my evil bar over half way done. I proceeded to stalk the juices out of him and got my evil 3 but he was thinking i still had no chance of killing him since he was over the hatch...but what happened after made me prepare a nice plate of french fries right next to me....

I grabbed him and killed him with the tombstone...and to rub salt in the wound, The animation threw him at the trapdoor making the ultimate disrespect.

After that...well the lobby was filled with the nastiest salt i've ever succumbed too. I felt so much in awe with such a salty play even though i didn't get my achievement there, i got it a day after.

Its about time they do sth about the standoff

Title. It's very broken in the sense that it doesn't work at all.

Luck percentages should be slightly buffed, so it helps with chest searches, not just an extra 5%. I understand there are dedicated builds for collecting items, but it shouldn't take all of that for having a chance at a green flashlight with nothing on it.

When survivors use luck offerings, then I am basically forced to camp because then can kobe so easily

I would do it myself, but if its just impossiable for me to do it timewhise? If they tell us the event again two days befor it, i may just have two days doing all the event things. That is might possiable as survivor, cause you can beg the others for using invites. But not as killer.

Don't be too harsh for yourself, just don't do it again. Additionally "If it's questionable then it's probably wrong" however if you want my opinion, the devs said doing exploits, hacks, game breaking glitches, and etc is bannable, not sharing saves. Maybe it's bannable on steam but I don't know so I won't go any further. It's like you two have each other's account information and just logging in, I don't see any problem with that just don't give your account information to the wrong person.

Its 100% bannable, basically you are hacking the savefile (just like the legacy hack for example)

Why is this a thing? Maybe make it a second to get a hit and then let the survivors pass through.

Coal tower is a great example with Wretched Shop. People can just make your run around for 1 full minute, then, just throw a safe pallet afterwards once you stacked enough bloodlust to be dangerous, and start over as the window eventually unlock. It gets quickly boring and is both not interesting nor skilled.

These "old infinites" (that aren't infinite anymore since the killer will eventually catch up, especially with Bloodlust) would still require a few tweaks, because paired with SB and DS, you can basically waste 3-4mins of a killer's time just running in circles around Coal Tower with 0 risks whatsoever since there is a huge lack of mindgames, which leave the killer only 2 choices : either keep going and waste several minutes, or drop and let the survivor to eventually heal on the spot due to self-care.

Map reworks are not gonna happen sadly, devs are too lazy for that.

I am just waiting for a DLC killer that can kill loopers just like nurse.

Punishment for camping was abused by the survivors so its not gonna happen, thank your fellow toxic survivor mates

If u could change the lighting of this game or the fog then the offerings wouldn't make sense and basically everyone would put their settings to the lowest for the maximum advantage. Sorry for the fact that you're colorblind but that is no reason to get ''special treatment'' in the game and change up the settings.

Fact is that nvidia freestyle was supported by the devs (and still is if you can trust the nvidia page), it allows you to change exactly these settings.

And just a question, whats the point of playing a game when you cant see anything?
Usually survivors complain abuot killer DCs, but when they use particular offerings, I cant do anything (I have good eyesight btw, just a dark monitor)

I could go afk and let them finish the game, but usually they are toxic shitheads tbagging in front of me afterwards and refusing to leave the game, so I dont go through that trouble and simply DC, devs dont punish DCs anyway

Tunneling sucks, no one likes it, not even the killer believe it or not. BBQ was encouraged to stop killers from tunneling, but when you catch a survivor on high ranks and two gens are already knocked out, it’s really discouraging to try to go after someone else so far away with the chance of not even being able to catch them in time, that’s why tunneling exist, or it should really be the only reason people tunnel. If you’re tunneling for any other reason I suggest you at least use Make Your Choice to grab another stack to BBQ.

As killer I like to tunnel because it makes me complete my objective. Give me a single reason not to tunnel

Not sure what you understand about tunneling, but BBQ is supposed to stop killers from camping, it doesnt do anything against tunneling

  • First rule of killer:
Dont give a damn what survivors throw at your head. Its your job to kill them, so make sure you suceed, there is no "honor codex" for a serial killer

Make sure you get BBQ and ruin ASAP and until then, I suggest you tunnel hardcore. Hook a guy, move a bit away from the hook to bait an unhook and then down the unhooked guy, repeat

Yeah, sadly this is how the game is played, but you jstu got not time to chase survivors around the loops (unless you are nurse)

  • I was quite surprised when I got told that "horror genre" doesnt mean that the game is scary for survivors. It is enough that they use characters like freddy krueger etc to fit into that genre.

And in my opinion billy isnt balanced because he has to rely on mistakes. If survivors dont do mistakes because they know how to loop a billy, then you are screwed.

  • @Krueger1428 said:
Tunneling has always been an issue, but ever since this rank reset it seems to have tripled. The Killers have perks to incentivize them not to camp or tunnel, yet they still do. A new survivor perk to counter tunneling would be great, but I have no idea what it could be. So, in lue of that, I suggest the killer gets penalized just like a survivor would if he downs a survivor that's just been hooked. He should lose points everytime he does it, and if he does it over and over he runs the risk of losing tons of points. I do have a few exceptions to this though to make it fair for killers. You will not be penalized if there are two or less survivors alive/if it's your obsession/or the exits are powered. That's my idea. I don't care if every single killer here disagrees, so save your breath.

Tunneling is just playing effectively. There is literally no reason not to tunnel.
Penalize the killer for tunneling would be forcing the killer to 2 hook everyone and then start killing by 3rd hooks. Might aswell remove killer from the game

Oh and some advice against tunneling, if you got hooked, you should be aware that you are closer to death and shouldnt be some of the clicking tbagging idiots and play stealthy instead

I hate scrolling through threads seeing people beg for balance. This is an asymmetric game there is no balance one side has to be extremely powerful as the other side is at its mercy. But with items, teamwork, and skilled plays the weaker team has a chance of escaping. Its just that the wrong side has more power therefore allot of the things survivors are used to have to be nerfed and nulled out so this game can actually be what its supposed to be. Thats just how things are.

Why do you read these threads then?

Oh, and even an assymetrical game can be balanced (but balance means balance in a 1vs4 not in a 1vs1  )
And yeah devs slowly start nerfing survivors, but they have a long way to go after the mess they have produced

  • @SanKa_Games said:
So, today there's a lot of SWF threads, since there's basically nothing else to discuss and I want to show you one simple example of deleting the partying functionality from the game and did it help at all.
Before I start, I'll say that I have ~1100 hrs in the game and play Killer and survivour (both solo and SWF) equally.

    Alright, let's start!
I'll tell you a story about a game called Armello. This is some sort of Game of Thrones for 4 players. This game had an issue with teamers, who played in a group of 3vs1 when the game was intended to be played 1vs1vs1vs1. So, the developers just removed an ability to play with friends in public matches. People, who only played with friends for sun left immediately, since no one wants to play with 1 or 2 bots. But the actual toxic players remained and still do the thing survivours in DbD did before SWF was introduced: dodged the lobby until they're matched with friends (which is pretty easy with the small pleyerbase of that game).

So, if you remove SWF from DbD something similar will happen: a LOT of players, who just played SWF to play with friends wil quit the game, while the most toxic ones will remain and will be able to join their friends because of the lessened survivour amount. Not to mention that such a decision will increase queue times by a lot which most of the other playes won't like too (though, there really are special people who like to spend 30 minutes of their life waiting for a 10 minute game #fun)

Not to mention that Survivours are kind of a majority of this game and this decision would considerably lessen devs' income, which is also why SWF will never be removed (LOL, so stop whining already).

SWF has actually nothing to do with toxicity. Its just common that toxic guys group up because they know how broken SWF is.
Oh, and if you dont want bots in your team then you have to climb up the ranked ladder as in every other game (that means that rank has to mean sth in DBD first, but thats a different story)

Its always funny when guys like you start arguing "people gonna quit the game".
The same threads poped up after 2.0 ptb with vacuum remove etc and now more people play the game than ever.

Increased queue times? Fine, I prefer that over dodging SWF which actually takes my attention.

Also usually people suggest to introduce different queues, the game has enough players for that, and that SWF should be banned from ranked.

  • @KillingInstinct said:
Can't we make Brutal Strength like how it used to be? So lv3 would be 30%.
And Play with your Food to be like how it used to be. These are perks that are way too weak.

The survivors should be scared of us killers dammit! Or else you should change the genre of the game

I already requested this and I was told that "horror genre" doesnt mean that the survivors are actually supposed to be scared.
I was quite buffled, but guess this game is more about fun/bullying instead of a scary aspect

  • @KillingInstinct said:

    @JFox said:
Seriously guys, we need to stop this, because we all love the game so why are we always fighting ?
-Yes, SWF can be op but it's not the fault of the players, but the way the game was made
-Yes, Camping is annoying but it's the easiest way to do kills, if the game was totally balanced, camping wouldn't exist
-No, insulting someone at the end of a game or in his steam profile is not ok, particularly if it's just like "ez baby killer" or "without SWF you are #########", this is literally harassement.
I never had so much insults on my steam profile since I have DBD.
We should all do peace guys, and it's not because a famous player is doing one of those thing that you should do it too, the community is a real problem, not since the release of the game, but since streamers and youtubers started to play cancer, most people play like them because they do not think by themself, this need to stop.

By the way I'm not a native english speaker so please don't mind mistakes, I have 1k hours on DBD and I play both survivors and killers equally

Killers mostly don't really camp. Except if there's a or more than one survivor who abuse pallet loops, infinites and/or t-bag. Which justifies camping. The game isn't balanced. That's why there's war

    I do camp.
After every bullying game I have a few games relaxing in front of the hook (if I even continue playing at all)

  • Shw was good when survivors were inexperienced. Nowadays they know when to throw down pallet or how to hide behind a thrown pallet such that you cant hit them (I mean #########?)

At least the truck hitboxes arent bugged anymore, but honestly, once the patch hits when they nerf windupa ddons, I dont think im gonna play her anymore.

I'm a survivor main and I hate SWF when I play as both killer and survivor and I don't like to play with 3 other people. But c'mon, saying it is cheating is a bit much. Sure it can be unfun when the survivors are just playing SWF to literally bully the killer and be toxic but a lot of them do it to have fun. It's a bit childish getting salty enough about it to post on the forums and to swear over it. Just accept it and move on to the next game. At high ranks it doesn't even matter if people are SWF of solo queue, most of the time the high rank solo players already know where totems most likely spawn and know how to unhook and do generators safely and don't even need to communicate with their fellow survivors in order to escape. I enjoy playing killer but I don't play it regularly because most of the time I get a 30+ minute queue time due to the high number of killer players in my region so I just play survivor instead but if I do get a SWF as killer I just play it and accept it if I get kills or not because SWF is apart of the game. Again, I personally don't like SWF because I think it can make the game unfun for the killer but that's life, you won't always get the game you want and you just need to accept that.

In saying that I do believe there should be a casual and rank mode where you can only SWF in casual mode.

Cheaters use aim hacks and teleport/invulnerability stuff to have fun to.
Saying that SWF is fine because it's fun for the survivors would by the aame argumentation say that cheating is fine

Dude that is no where NEAR the same thing.... Cheaters are people who hack the game, not people who use mic, that's just ignorant to think they are the same thing...
The majority of people who use hacking aren't doing it have fun, they are using it to get high rank and to have bragging rights saying they are good at the game.

Cheaters use 3rd party tools to gain an unfair ingame advantage, tell me how is that different from discord etc?

That's worst logical fallacy argument I've seen in quite some time and 1 doesn't even come close to equating to the other. It's not cheating to use Discord or Ventilo or Skype etc no matter how you or anyone else whining about it tries to word it.

Now as for 3rd party programs they're talking about those that are aimbots, wallhacks, aura hacks, speed hacks etc. You know full well that voice wasn't intended nor is covered by that.

Whether you use third party programs to gain an aiming advantage or a communication advantage, it doesn't matter when we are talking about the tos

The only difference I can see that cheating via discord is somehow accepted even though the game is obviously not designed for this and communication actually denies several tactics of a killer

Been over this a hundred times. BHVR can not stop voice comms. And for them to say comms is cheating but we can't stop it just makes them look bad. If they truly considered voice comms as not cheating then they would go ahead and whitelist Discord. But low and behold Discord IS NOT whitelisted.

They didn't whitelist Google Chrome and my super sneaky perk googling either.

    ARREST ME OFFICER

Point is , third party software that gives an unfair advantage, that isn't on the white list is a perma-ban offense. If you go on only pure logic and yes or no answers you would have to agree.

    Discord is

    1) A third party piece of software ... true
    2) Not on the white list ... true
    3) Used by SWF groups to gain a very unfair advantage over another player ... true

But hey its ok, you just keep on doing what you do and screw the other people, its all good they can just get gud, and you can crutch it up.

So basically going by your logic, when we are playing Dead by daylight we shouldn't be allowed to have any program open but the game? Twitch can be used as an advantage if a Killer is streaming and you know about it. You guys just need to give it up, discord isn't going anywhere and neither is SWF.

By the terms of service any 3rd party program that gives you an unfair ingame advantage is forbidden. Discord clearly falls into that category, but sadly mods in the old forum said that I'd is kinda white listed even though there doesn't even exit an official Whitelist (actually I am in the mood now, I'll write bhvr a nice email and ask for an official whitelist)

Oh and btw, deva actually Bann for streams nipping if you do it multiple times to annoy the streamer.

  • Seems like matth already understood the game really well in 2017
I can understand that he left now after a year of doing almost nothing
