As survivor: obvious swf team mates, key, 3 blendettes, 3 console players, default megs/neas
As killer: keys, 3 toolboxes, 4 blendettes

There're already several ways to counter tunneling. DS, borrowed time, we'll make it, taking protection hits, sprint burst/dead hard off hook. Just being in general a better player whether that means looping better or not saving teammates in a dumb way that gets them downed again.
The truth is survivors have all the tools they need to counter tunneling but 90% of players in this game are bad and blame the game/killer rather than themselves.
DS: only activates once, you can get tunneled after both hook stages.
BT: Sure.
We’ll Make It: does not counter tunneling at all because if the killer really wants to tunnel you won’t have time to heal.
Protection hits: Sure, if you only play SWF. It’s really rare to get someone to take a hit for you in solo Q.
Sprint Burst: Sure, it can take you to a loop, unless the killer is right on you when you get unhooked, since the unhooking animation takes priority and wont let you use sprint burst and you can get hit until then.
Dead Hard: If you aren’t in a deadzone, sure.

It takes "skill" and player experience to play nurse and spirit doesn't mean they don't need nerfs.
You need skill to play spirit? Lol

I found a way of making sure I don't depip in a afk game. Jump in and out of the lockers multiple times, it gives you boldness points. Cleanse totems, run around the killer. Search chests, of you find a toolbox don't use it in the gen, sabo the hooks, don't open the exit gate till all totems and every little thing has been used to its full potential. It's not enough for a pip, but it's enough for a safety pip most of the time
Only works if the locker is within the terror radius. And running around the killer doesnt give you escape points anymore, they removed that.

you still have a chance to make a come back and you're still buying time for your team on the hook. As killer no ones reliant on you but as survivor 3 other people are reliant on you.
Killers still have a chance to come back if they snowball.
Why would I care if I win time for my team? I play solo and dont get any points for giving them time.

As an Iron Will Claudette main, it makes me think about sandabbing some of those theorists on purpose occasionally, and indeed "unhooking and disappearing", like you suggested. If everyone is on dead hook and I have 0 hooks - it just means I survived better than you. The main objective of SURVIVORS, believe it or not, is to SURVIVE, and whoever does it better is the better player. If you played as good as I did, you would also have 0 hooks. So not only you justify sandbagging and cooperating with killer (which is a bannable offense, btw), you justify sandbagging those who played most efficiently during the match.
Hiding and doing nothing all game doesnt mean you're a better player. Taking risks, contributing to the team and winning chases does.

Nope. I been doing the selling out.
My team makes some outrageously bad decisions in the first two minutes of the game? Survival of the fittest. I’ll be in my locker if you need me.
Can you really complain about a bad team when you yourself are contributing to that?

Its not about being self centered its about actually wanting to play the game instead of being stuck with 1 or 2 killers that I can actually viably play in this environment. Survivors get a win if killers DC so whats the problem lol.
By that logic, if a survivor is being facecamped they should be able to dc without penalty. Being stuck on hook while the killer looks that you isnt playing the game.

Free starter perk that gets used badly at red ranks still. If people are playing like "starters" they shouldnt be at red ranks.

Buckle up kiddies, its Ol', Uncle Stabby's first rant since returning.
I've been a long time player forever now. Usually I float around in purple, but about two months ago, Legion carried me into the not-so-wonderful world of red rank play. Not so long ago, I returned to Pig, and have been metronoming between ranks five and four consistently.
Man, you red rank survivors are sweaty.
Killer has always been the more stressful role, no matter what anyone says, this is what I've found. And its not salt talking here either. I can get consistent 4ks on my good days. But something has to be done for the overall health of this game.
If you win as Killer, you had a hard time doing it. If you won as survivor, you and your team masterfully took advantage of your four-to-one odds and got out. Either way, the Killer was probably pulling their hair out.
We NEED a casual mode. Something less rewarding, sure, but thats a good trade off to avoid getting teabagged and taunted by toxic players who only got out because they actually brought TWO KEYS- not found, BROUGHT- true story.
A lot of people say "Oh, well then the sweaty ones would just abuse it to win" to which I say for what? They wouldn't get decent bloodpoints or xp, and their ranks would suffer without the upkeep.
All I'm saying is let's all try it, because it comes down to this: Some of us are horror fans that just want to have fun, and the rest of you are ruining the game for us.
Yes, as a solo survivor, I have to be "sweaty".
I'm at red ranks, more often than not, I have bad teamates, even worse if theyre in a swf.
If you consistently get 4k, what is the issue with "sweaty" survivors?
At red ranks, if you don't play "sweaty", you're just going to lose, and losing as survivor means less at least 5k points, which as a survivor, is quite a lot.
Killer is stressful yes, but so is solo q. A lot of killers like to make it out like solo q isnt real, and all they go against is 4men swf, but reality isnt like that.
-
Clown is the most boring killer to play as.
To go against: Huntress
-
Literally has happened the same to me twice today. That is not fixed at all.
-
It's to compensate all the hits huntress gets when she shouldnt have
-
I havent noticed much about his tentacle but I agree 100% on huntress hatchets. When they reworked her addons they should have looked into that too.
Victor hitbox is also too big.

Been accused of being in a swf because the killer lost. We were all solo.
This happens more often than not.

I've only been on it successfully (without the game crashing) 3 times. It looks amazing. I really like the music, and the ambience etc. But holy crap is it ever a maze. I even had a map, and there can be a generator directly above me, and it takes 3 minutes to find out how to get it.
I'm a bit confused that it has so many dead end rooms with nothing in them (not even a locker). I've also been left to go to struggle on the hook because people can't figure out how to get to me LOL.
The most surprising thing the other day, the hatch spawned on the top floor. In every other indoor map, it only spawns on the bottom floor, right? At the most the stairs platform on Midwich. If the hatch can spawn literally anywhere on the RCPD map, is any nook and cranny, that might be some sort of Hellscape for the last survivor lol.
I've also been left to second stage because people could not find the basement. They said there was a wall in the way and they had to almost go around the whole map just to get there.
It is also a nightmare against pig with the head traps.

Lol please tell me that last sentence was a joke. I don't think a mod has any right to claim it is a deserved penalty, when the whole world knows this game isn't optimized and crashes are basically guaranteed at this point.
I'm not kidding. If I knew the exact wording that was used I would have found the post and linked it here. I found it to be quite an bad thing to say.

Honestly, to me it feels like you're in denial to get used to new stuff in DbD. You want the same type of map all the time and if is something new, possibly harder... that's a problem.
I personally enjoy the map.,
I'm at 4,580 hours. I'm well used to having new things in DBD. RPD map layout just doesn't fit DBD gameplay.

The maze like fits Resident Evil games, if you've played the games... even the newer ones you get lost and I feel like that's important to represent the game franchise. Even if is not really fitting DbD, it's a fresh air that seems to be very interested played right now... a new type of map
You're on the DBD forums. It fits the Resident Evil games, which aren't like Dead By Daylight.
It's like me adding the minecraft map to DBD and saying it's fine because it represents minecraft.
-
I think they've said before that that is not a possibility.
I even saw a moderator on here basically say that even if it wasnt your fault you deserve the penalty because everyone else was penalized in game for your dc. Ridiculous I know.
-
@kate_best_girl said:
From a gameplay perspective it really isn't bad. I've seen 'good players' play on it and make horrible extremely obvious misplays and blame the map being too confusing so I honestly think its just band wagoning atm. What they COULD do at most is close up a couple rooms, block off some halls, and block or move the window vault in the office near the entrance.
That "at most" would already be a big improvement imo

You cannot change the map just for DbD and destroy its look from Resident Evil, that's just not how it works since is also licensed. They did adapted some stuff and added loops and things. Now it's your job to learn the map layout and get used
And if you have a game, you should consider gameplay above things being "pretty". That's how game design works.
-
@Dwight_Fairfield said:
Five years of complaining about Haddonfield and they haven't changed a thing. What chance do you think RPD has?
I'm hoping since that's an old map theyre going to rework it for the better.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Well it's a licensed map that looks similar to RE2, BHVR did his job. It's a lot harder than other maps, you can easily get lost but it's something and I find it challenging besides that it looks great.
People should adapt new stuff imo. , indeed before the map was crashing and it was a reason to dislike the map but right now... it does work good.
BHVR doing it's job would be making it good for DBD gameplay. It's not adapted, at all.

You're right. Too big of maps that allow it is the problem. You can literally waste minimum 40 seconds just by holding W

Sure. I'll use the same trigger words that tends to get killers nerfed. What were they again ? Oh yea, it's boooooring 💤💤💤, and unfun.

@Raccoon said:

Very poor rebuttal.
As killers build bloodlust, gens are being done.
Every tier of BL hit is 15s off a gen, with extremely weak killer players often relying on Tier 2-3 BL to score hits on strong tiles as BL1 still doesn't compensate for their inability to run said tile.
Killers that actually rely on BL often trade .5-1 (or more) gens for a down, depending on if they required BL for both hits.
Conversely, following someone that's just holding W is also giving survivors free time on gens (especially if the person you see is initially outside chase range) - if that is the only person in view and you decide not to commit, the time spent finding another is also additional time to crank out gens.
Very poor rebuttal.
Dont waste time on people who know you cant get fast then, go pressure the gens that are being done.

I don't know why you feel that's silly or untrue. It's an annoying legit thing. To the point I barely play some favorite characters now. Because that's all it is.
See killer and run. Keep running and don't loop. Drop pallet and hold W some more
Keep bloodlusting then?
-
Well the devs need to stop being selfish and buff the BP gains
-
@MadLordJack said:
The meta shifted. Survivors do gens faster and artificially extend chases with no skill by holding W. This has the side effect of nerfing snowballing, which is how killers used to be able to win.
Killer win chases by holding W and bloodlust. See how bad the "hold W" mentality is?

What I do when I see this bug happen is I will let the killer kill me, it's unfair to them that because of a bug, I can't be caught at all unless I pull something dumb. It would be nice though if we knew how this activates specifically so that people can avoid doing it. I doubt it's completely random how this happens.
I did let the killer kill me, as as soon as I saw I got the infinite bug I just went afk. I was lucky to get a pc killer who was understandable so I was able to explain to them why I went afk.

Nah, Solo Queue definitely does not need a buff.
Solo Queue by itself is fine, and it is a much better and more immersive experience when compared to SWF. The problem is that matchmaking often pairs you with people that are below your skill level, which leads to very bad trials.
Fix matchmaking, and Solo is fixed.
Solo Q does need a buff, and I'm sure a lot of other people here will agree with me. Matchmaking will not be fixed, I think that is pretty much obvious by now. Either make SWF and Solo a different matchmaking, or no amount of "fixing" will actually make it better.
-
@Volcz said:
All solo que players should run Kindred. Help those teammates out that are playing very immersed and can't read situations well (and its just overall such a strong perk).
There are A LOT of boosted players in this game, mainly because SWF gives them a fake sense of superiority over the killer, so when they do try to solo que, they lack all that information they'd normally get. And I mean..if you're in red ranks and you're going down in less than 20 seconds, you're just a bad runner. Especially at the start of the match when you have every pallet at your disposal. Theres people at red ranks as well that just don't do gens, its as if they're allergic to it. Not surprisingly, its the same ones who are bad at running a killer most of the time.
Solo que can be frustrating and it is, but its also 100x more satisfying having a good match where you and the 3 strangers all coordinate w/o comms, its like everyone is on the same page, we share hooks, we don't run the killer near the hooked person or a gen that is over 70% done, we take protection hits, we all split up and focus gens/spread pressure, etc. Those games are very fun.
Those games are like 1 in 10. Should 9 games be frustrating just to get 1 good one that you'd normally get in swf?
IMO just make kindred basekit.
