  • My answer is going to suck but.. the target audience for the archives is the player who has everything.

Most casual players won't care about unlocking everything or doing every challenge. It's there to give more value to the game for older players. Yes, the bonus bloodpoints are nice, but they're 1 game's worth of points, nothing to write home about, even if they do add up in the end.

Yes, it sucks if you don't own the characters, but you're not missing out much in the end, because you wouldn't buy the premium track to get the full rewards, and I doubt someone who doesn't pay for the DLC characters would pay for charms and cosmetics for other characters they don't already own.

That being said, I still think you have a point and that they should have made the second tome about the other free characters. There's 6 free survivors and 5 free killers. 2 of each for each tome is 2 tomes worth of free characters before moving on to the paying one. Or heck, go half and half (1 paying and 1 free per role per tome)

But at least the way things are set up, nothing is blocked behind a paid character, you can reach around and complete everything else (like, the two Jane ones are next to one another and you can go around, the doctor and spirit ones are at the end of a path)

EDIT: (Oh, also, in the Q&A they did earlier today, they mention a 30% off on the 3 DLC characters if you buy them in-game with Auric Cells, for those who want to do it all but didn't want to pay the full price) but yeah there's 40% off sales all the time on Steam but only for full packs not separate characters, so if you only play one role or the other and don't want to buy the full packs, this is a good opportunity to get the characters.

  • Camaraderie does just that, for a certain time.

Each factor I listed are not to be taken apart from each other since the DC penalty wouldn't make a difference, but believe it or not bugs are a common occurence that takes its roots from the coding of the game, not from the client itself. Not being able to blind Hag, being chain burned as Wraith, lunge of Spirit and Wraith being broken, I could keep up all day.

It doesn't make sense when you take it from afar, ruining everybody's fun for bullshit that happened to you, but that can trigger a strong emotionnal response that you can't even blame on yourself, you got tricked by the game itself, so "f**k this game". I personally almost never DCed knowing that Dedicated Servers were still a work in progress, but I can understand why people would do that, as long as they don't queue up like 5 seconds later. But come on, 6 hours ban ? On a casual game ?

Real talk, I recently got burned out of the game, when you are in a tense match and you still manage to measure almost every single aspect of your gameplay but the game comes up with a different outcome than what you assumed because you simply got robbed by latency/bugs ( Talking from both perspectives, but mostly from survivor's side at this point ) makes me question myself about the time I spent learning the game, and it's something I don't want to feel about a game anymore.

MHm true.. I guess I don't play enough or don't pay attention enough to these things for them to bother me.

But yeah.. only times I ever disconnected as survivor was when I got tunneled off hook 3 times in a row, and it was obvious, like 3 survivors to pick from, me being behind everyone else, and he still made a beeline for me. So I disconnected, ######### that #########.

But on killer, even if the survivors are being toxic dicks, I'll just play along and do my best to outsmart them. Or just don't try as hard, and let them finish the generators, then if they take forever to open the gates, I'll open one of them myself and just wait for them to leave, or chase them out the gate.

They shouldn't, but they will probably do it anyway. Why you may ask ?

    1) Split off between perspectives. Ranging from dedicated grabs to dedicated hits.

    2) Glitches, exploits and bugs that prevent you from playing the game. I clearly don't know why you would stay in a game where you got stuck inside a pallet or an obstacle, or things like the Cursed Cabin exploit, basement bug to name but a few.

    3) Balancing issues. Whilst it's clearly a mess to balance out an asymetrical game, there are obvious issues that have not been adressed to this date. Gen issues, Infinites, Bloodlust, Maps in general, and so forth.

At the end of the day you can't see Dead by Daylight as a competitive game whatsoever thus you shouldn't penalise people that only take the fun factor into consideration. It's a casual game with its flaws, and while it remains so, the DC penalty is clearly overkill especially when survivors can avoid it pretty easily.

True, but that's why there were escalating penalties. First time was like a minute? If you get bugs glitches and exploits that often, you might want to either update your computer, or play something else.

And yeah I can understand that sometimes hits are bullshit, with dedicated servers, but they've always been bullshit, it's nothing new. Disconnecting because of that means you need to grow a thicker skin, or again, play something else. It's part of the game, it sucks, but as you pointed out, it's not a competitive game, so why should one person disconnecting because they're not having fun for some reason or another penalize the other 4 people playing in the same match, thus ruining THEIR fun?

  • Wish they'd bring back the penalties.. Wonder if they ever will. I had three or four games in a row with super early game disconnects the other day. Ranges from "Oh, I went down first, let me disconnect" to "Oh the gates are open and I'm going on my final hook, let me disconnect"

Literally is no reason for actions like that.

Heck, one thing they could do, if someone disconnects, leave the body in the game. Just a husk. You can hit/down/sacrifice it. Don't make the body disappear entirely. (So basically, treat the disconnected player's body as an AFK player, with crows and all)

  • I'm all up for making the adept killer achievements just being "kill all 4 survivors using the killer's base kit", since the survivor version is basically "escape,. you don't have to do anything, go hide in a corner if you want, just escape"

  • I came here looking for this.. I was still active but the chat died.. what triggers this? Then everyone on one side disconnects? (either all 4 survivors or the killer) or is it on a timer..?

  • @Yung_Slug said:

Seems like that should be a different perk. I personally think predator should increase the amount of time scratch marks remain, sorta like bloodhound.

    This would be good.

  • There's been talk of temporary locks on accounts that do it too much in a future update.

  • Please stop nerfing Amanda, she didn't kick anyone's puppies (or put reverse bear traps on them)

"ohh people still play her, despite the Endgame changes.. What can we do to make people stop playing her entirely??"

What next, have her only carry one trap at a time and require her to manually power up the jigsaw boxes??

  • So, I just had yet another game with 3 dc's (2 right as I downed them, and the third just because he didn't want to play with only 2 survivors left, I assume?)

This time it was as Wraith.. the last survivor mentionned in the after-game chat that it happened to him 6 games in a row.. what the #########? I've been playing this game for 3 months now, and in this time, I barely ever had as many dc's as I had today.

Really can't wait for them to implement something to punish those who ruin the game for everyone else by doing that.

    Honestly Ghostface is pretty weak

People are used to him now, even before today's nerf he went from decent to weak, now even weaker

His power may sound strong on paper, but it's really weak in practice

Honestly only using him to use up all my gâteaux.. He's fine but as far as stalking goes, Myers is better/more fun.

Ghostface has nice perks though, I'm a big fan of I'm All Ears, helps follow survivors after they jump during a chase, and predict where they'll go next.

He is weak as is losing stalk was one of the issues with the ptb since it was so easy for survivors to knock him out (something that isn't as bad now but is still beyond easy coming from playing already everyday ~4-5hr of and against him since release on ps4 and I'm coming from a freddy main where I have to know the middle of my screen I am proof it is a skill that needs to be learned, never had the problems every one of these "fix the detection" survs are having and I believed he was in a good spot pre hotfix

Hmm I guess that's a good point, if they made it that way because it was too easy to break him out of it in the ptb.. didn't get to try it in that version, only the one we have now.

So we are proposing another nerf? Seriously would you also prefer AI killers? Because at this rate killers might as well only play nurse, hillbilly, and spirit or just quit

It's a suggestion coming from someone who played as him a few games, and thought it was ridiculous that you didn't lose stalking progress after a bit. Haven't played him enough for my opinion to matter, apparently, but whatever.

  • Hmm true.

Which platform has the most people playing on? I would assume Steam, but is it one of the consoles?

  • Killing yourself on hook is fine in general, unless everyone does it. And honestly who's to say they did it on purpose or just botched their struggle.

This one person though, attempted to unhook then didn't struggle, that was an obvious suicide.. Still screws over his teammates, though.

  • I'm queue-ing up for killer games right now, also easter time, and it usually takes around 4 minutes to get a game going this afternoon (and honestly, aside from the few days after the Ghostface release where everyone wanted to play killer, that's about the average wait time for me)

I'm on PC/Steam, if that matters.

  • A decay timer would indeed be good. Seriously ridiculous that you can stalk someone to 99% and then leave them for a few minutes to chase someone else and come across them again and resume where you left off, without losing any progress. Like 1% per second would be reasonable, if you left the survivor for over a minute and a half, then you should have to stalk them all over again.

  • I'm trying to use up my gateaux on Ghostface (leveled him by dumping points into him I was farming on another killer) so I have like 20 of them.. but so far, in like 4 or 5 games in a row.. literally all of them had people DC as I picked them up for their first hook, or just suicide on hook on their first.. It's like, what the ######### man?

Oh and I make sure to report them all, it's really annoying when half the survivors disconnected within the first two or three minutes :/

  • Nothing wrong with some slugging against overly altruistic groups, when it's obvious they all flock to the downed person with their flashlights and body blocks. Just chase them away and make sure to keep track of the downed survivor so you're able to grab and hook them once you've dealt with the pests.

Did all five gens get repaired? If not then that is why.

    This.

Powering up the doors by closing the hatch doesn't allow you to mori with Rancor.. The description is clear on that, it's after the 5 generators are repaired, not when doors are powered. Two different things.

I'm pretty sure you CAN spectate a killer in KYF... but okay?

How? Because the only spectating I ever managed to do was survivors? Or am I doing it wrong?

  • @poopman said:

This is one of those features which would be needed for a quality of life update or something like that. Definitely not a priority right now, which is why I suspect it's not going to be added anytime soon.

Yeah probably not.. but at the same time, but I assume it can't be that complicated, they already have the spectate feature, just need to change who you spectate from to the killer.. But I guess it depends on how it's all programmed in

  • I had a group of Neas once, all dressed up the same, who camped the killer shack.. I went in there and they were all there. I chased one and downed her, took her to the basement. On my way down I saw scratchmarks leading to one of the back lockers, so I checked it, and there was another Nea. So I hooked her, and on an impulse, checked the other back locker, and tadaaaah, a third Nea! By then, the fourth made noise elsewhere, so I just left to go try to find her, but she got to the basement in the meantime, and everyone got unhooked. I headed back to the shack just in time to see three Neas vaulting out the window one after the other.

    Funny and weird game ;)

I like getting groups of survivors who don't take themselves too seriously.

  • Not going to read all those posts, so as a killer main who also plays a lot of survive with friends, let me just say this..

This is one of the stupidest suggestions I've ever seen.

  • I think I heard about dedicated servers keeping groups together after a game, but yeah.. Honestly, having two menus isn't the issue for me, it's having to back out to the main menu to switch modes to invite that bugs me.

  • They could just not have that pop up automatically, and require you to press the + button to send invites.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Maybe they wanted 2 survivor options and 2 killer options to give it a balance on the main screen visually?

Maybe. That would be the stupidest reason ever though haha

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The play survivor option is pretty redundant, since you can solo on SWF lobby option with the same amount of step IIRC.

Yeah exactly, part of why I wonder why they are two separate game modes when in the end it's all the same.

  • Not knowing who is where is all part of the game though. Different survivors' auras look different, you learn to recognize them over time.. And you can just pay attention to the hud changes to know who's being chased if they get hit.

No reason to put names over the auras just because you can't tell who is who.

  • Working on infected stuff is a good way to get a free heal as survivor, and honestly if the Plague you're playing against is puking on everything them they have no way to know where you got infected if they monitor survivors' statuses.

Cause they left afterwards and the rest was just me and green being cool dudes talking about Game of Thrones and #########.

*gasps!* how dare you befriend the enemy!!

  • I've actually come to like this map as a killer.

Tip for those who can't find survivors in the corn: climb one of the tractors and look in the general direction you know the survivor to be, the corn will move even if they're crouching. I've caught a few Claudettes (and others) this way.

  • But you'll have to be patient since perks rotate each week in the shrine so you can't decide which to get first

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Out of curiosity and if you'd feel like doing the math, how much would it be to buy all killer characters, but none of the survivor ones -- but still buying their perks from the shrine (since Survivors are just skins and all anyway)?

I'll check when I get home from work, but assuming it's 2000 per perk, so 6000 per character instead of 9000, you should need 18000 less, so devotion 3 level 64?

  • I know right? Sure, some people might find a way to abuse it in Survive with friends, but they already found ways to do that, and as I said, anyone caught abusing bugs/exploits will get punished.

Would be fun seeing some of my friends meme builds in action from their side and not be on the receiving end of it in Kill Your Friends.

  • Surveillance and letting the survivors finish the generators far away to end up with 3 close to one another to patrol is a good way to make them work for that last generator they need to get away.

  • @letuce said:

"Kill your friends", a private game mode where you and your friends play together, with yourselves and no one else.

Swf, aka "survive with friends", a game mode where you and friends team up in public matches with and against strangers.

As for the idea, I agree!

He obviously didn't read the post I made about it.. Unless it wasn't clear, I stated it would be only for kill your friends, and that you'd decide before the match started.. But I guess reading comprehension isn't everyone's strong point.

  • And I already said it would be for Kill Your Friends. If people abuse it to spectate in survive your friends, it's their problem if they get caught and banned over it.

@TheShape78 yes, killer gets a d/c bonus, but it's not NEARLY as many points as you get for chasing and hooking them.

Worst thing is if it's the killer who disconnects, each survivor gets 5000 points.. They should give more points than a mere 625 to the killer for disconnects

  • @johnmwarner said:

Just play play play. It's not ideal, but even if all you do is use her Phasing to cover huge area and then turn into a 110 speed M1 killer you will be okay at middle ranks. You'll learn more each game.

And best thing about it is even if you do poorly, you get an easy 8000 points from deviousness of you phase constantly, on top of the rest.

  • Obvious survivor main who never played killer or tried to understand their powers.

The best way to beat your enemy is to become your enemy. I play both sides and I've learned tactics from both sides by playing and paying attention to how the other players played.

  • One word : headphones.

They make a huge difference, you need to listen for survivor sounds, especially the wounded ones. I like hitting one off a generator, then kick the generator before giving chase. Following the scratch marks and listening to their whimperings is an easy way to find them again. Sorta like how I use sloppy butcher + bloodhound to make taking wounded survivors easier on other killers.

  • I think a nun/priest would be a good idea, but not entirely sure what kind of powers or perks they'd have. Obviously something prayer-related, possibly a charge up skill, bit like Myers, but they'd have to make it different enough not to seem like a copy. Maybe some sort of Divine Intervention that blinds the survivor for a few seconds or something.

  • I close it all the time. Then I can look around the doors for the last survivor instead of through the whole map, hoping they don't find the hatch first.

  • If anyone should be able to walk through walls and teleport around, it's Freddy, he's in the dream world he should be able to do anything. Doesn't mean it would be a good idea, it'd be overpowered as ######### if they have him that ability. Same with giving killers parts of another killers's powers.
