  • Hag.

Though outside of new releases, I only have 4 killers I rotate between and never bother with the rest.

Thank you so much for sharing so much detail! I've passed this onto the team to look into!

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4006134#Comment_4006134

Would you be able to confirm, is this only happening on Vee, or other characters? Survivors and Killers? And to be sure, this is your gameplay-focused loadout (i.e. perks) that isn't saving, not the cosmetic presets, right?

As for my experiences since this post:

Nothing weird happens on my end even after coming out of a match. All Survivor preset builds I have set for myself have remained intact so far.

So at this point it's just the build preset names for Nemesis and Dark Lord that don't save between closing and restarting the game.

  • @CatManThree said:

I didn't think this was a bug? I thought they just hadn't included it for whatever reason.

Hm. I seem to remember them showing a screenshot of the new presets with one that had cosmetic loadouts named. However, I don't know if that was in a livestream or in a post on social media. I've been trying to find it again but to no avail, so far. Could be that I am mixing it up with something else.

The 9.1.0 Patch Notes do seem to imply that both presets should be able to renamed, though.

  • Hm…

Well, I have once again gone through all survivors and set & named preset builds on them, all following the same pattern:

    Preset Slot 1: Adept
Slot 2: Free (meant to house a build that isn't Standard, though rather than keeping the loadout empty I equipped Ace In The Hole as a placeholder, just in case)
Slot 3: Standard (Kindred, Leader, Sprint Burst, Unbreakable)
Slot 4: A character-specific build (Meg, Steve, Aestri/Baermar, Vittorio, Orela), empty for the rest and not named (Preset 4)
Slots 5-7: Also empty and unnamed (Preset 5-7)

Let's see what happens when I open the game again 😨. How many of these loadouts are still there and how many are gone, or have their names reset back to default.

  • This is still not fixed, by the way.

Oh, I can totally imagine! It's not lost on me that it's time-consuming, so seriously, I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

As promised, I'd get back to you if I noticed anything still amiss with the Preset system.

I have good news and bad news 😥.

Starting off with the good news: it seems that indeed all set builds no longer reset. I tested this by doing the following on Vittorio:

    Preset slot 1: Adept perks
Slot 2: empty (which is my Free loadout slot for if I decide to play anything else than the Standard build)
Slot 3: the Standard build, which is a jack-of-all-trades kind of build I have ready to go on everyone
Slot 4: The Witcher build, for the Geralt cosmetic (some other characters also have a specific build set for them here)
    Slots 5-7: unused, thus empty

Before the fix, closing and restarting the game would move all builds set in Slot 3 and beyond up by one, with 3 taking the empty spot of Slot 2, 4 moving up to 3 and so on. The build names would equally be restored to the default Preset 1-7.

THIS SEEMS TO BE FIXED NOW 😁. Vittorio still has the exact same customized loadout slots with the names I gave them.

    However, the BAD news:

On some characters the preset names I set for them do not save when closing the game. Example:

This is how my list of Nemesis builds looks like, with a couple builds that have perks in them, and some free/unused slots. All properly named except for the unused slots.

    20250924215127_1.jpg

But when I close and restart, this happens:

    20250925083845_1.jpg

The preset names are not saved, but all the builds are. Everything, from perks to add-ons to offerings, remains intact and exactly in the spot I left them. It's just that the names don't save.

What's strange is that this does not happen on everyone. I have 4 killers with builds set up for them and all properly named, and two of them have this issue, Dark Lord being the other one. Artist and Vecna remain completely unaffected. I don't know if this is an issue unique to the characters or something else causing it. Either way, I think this warrants looking into 😉.

Thank you for your help, and have a nice day!

  • @ThatRyanB said:

Hey folks. Popping in here with a quick update. We deployed a fix late this morning that should have resolved this issue. Unfortunately, for anyone who accessed their presets while this bug was active, you will have to redo these perk presets (sorry!), but as of now, the presets should be back to saving.

If you continue to run into any issues, though, please let me know here!

    Thank you, Ryan 😁!

I'll keep an eye on this and report back when something's still not working properly. Hopefully I only have to go through my presets one last time (it takes a bit to set everything up as you can imagine …)

  • And to make matters worse, even if you make new presets, their names reset when you close and restart the game. It seems that empty loadouts in-between presets don't save either. My 'Free' preset is mostly empty as that's where I put in whatever build I fancy at the moment, if I choose not to use another preset loadout. Waste of effort!

    After:

    20250924175525_1.jpg

My presets in Slot 3 all moved up to Slot 2.

  • Chiming in

This is only the case for these specific items. Obviously, this has to be changed asap because Ascended items will be 5k BP instead of their Common price, and equally rare in the Bloodweb.

Every 'Haunted by Daylight'-related add-on or offering is (fortunately) still the correct rarity:

    20250924125853_1.jpg 20250924125920_1.jpg

As is every other event item. Some examples:

    20250924105232_1.jpg 20250924105228_1.jpg 20250924105204_1.jpg
  • 20250923192018_1.jpg

Not only that, a lot of characters have reverted back to 'just unlocked' state where they come pre-equipped with one perk, an item and some add-ons. Even though these characters had preset builds set up for them.

    20250923192104_1.jpg

It seems that only the build you had last selected on your character got saved, the rest was wiped.

This is not the case on Killer, though. All Killers I had builds set up on kept all of them, just the preset names were wiped.

  • Buddy, map variations were removed. They can still be played in Custom Game but on live, they're gone. Badham has only 1 variation now (Badham I to be precise), so do Ormond, Yamaoka, MacMillan, etc.

This was mentioned in a livestream, not in patchnotes iirc.

  • What do you mean? He only has one cosmetic where he wears a hat.

  • Main progression comes from Daily Quests and Rift Pass Quests. And the occasional Event Quests too, such as with the Anniversary, 2 v 8 or Chaos Shuffle.

Milestones are primarily there to give you something to do when you're out of the other options, and don't seem to be the main way to get Rift fragments anymore.

*shakes fist at sky* ARRRGgG TECHNOLOGY!!!?

    Not technology. Blatant theft.

  • Some killer mains will tell you that they're already going against this every single match.

  • While I do understand the sentiment, it's worth noting that these two are not exactly comparable,

The Castlevania cosmetics (True Form Dracula, Soma Cruz etc) were from the Dominus Rift a year ago, and as usual, Rift cosmetics return to the store roughly a year later.

AOT was a cosmetic collab only, and didn't have any Rift, event or Tome dedicated to it. So it's not following the same logic, and was more of a one-time thing.

Hes essentially a weaker huntress/Xenomorph. His axe is just terrible compared to huntress hatchets.

He gets his axe back without needing to stop at a locker and reload

Without his axe he's faster without the need of an add-on

The axe can apply buffs and debuffs with or without hitting someone

He has map traversal with built-in Undetectable

Of course his axe doesn't behave the same as Huntress' hatchets. If it did, who would bother playing Huntress? It's just part of his kit, not his entire power.

For as long as I have Hollow Shells, Survivor Puddings and Bloody Party Streamers on him to spend, you will see me pop up out of those doors!

What's interesting is that the Fog Vial is only invisible initially, when you find one in a chest. Swapping another item from a chest with the Fog Vial you're carrying will make it visible like it's supposed to.

  • Killers TEAMING UP in a 2 v 8 mode to get a down?

    Oh no!

    Anyway …

  • I will buy the DLC on steam. I will buy release day cosmetics with auric cells. I will be getting those new achievements.

And there is nothing you can do about it.

  • You know what would be a nice incentive to spread hooks?

    Bonus bloodpoints!

    Oh, wait …

how about we start bringing back the rift xp per match stuff. So youre actually rewarded for playing outside of the challenges

Often enough do I get out of a match and see a pop up with 5 or even 10 Rift Fragments, despite having done no challenges.

Basekit Pop is nothing and it's a well know fact that if you 8 hook before killing any surv you already lost the match.

No, it's a well known fact that if you 8 hook before killing anyone and still get a 3 or 4 k, you played a fair match where everyone had equal opportunities and left with good points.

Could you please attach the logs? Be sure they are taken right after encountering the issue.

    To find them:

    1. Press the Windows Key + R to open the "Run" command.
    2. In the text box paste the following: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs
    3. Click "OK" - this will open your Dead by Daylight Logs folder.
      • If it does not open the Dead by Daylight Logs folder, it may mean that when installing Dead by Daylight you chose to save your files somewhere else and will need to check there.
    4. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file

    Thank you.

    DeadByDaylight.log

This should be the log file.

The match was recorded on August 27.

  • I'm still hoping they will one day include the castle on Midwich. You should easily be able to see it when standing in the courtyard.

There would be no licensing issue here since both Silent Hill and Castlevania are owned by Konami. Surely they could make something work there.

  • The Kill Switch Master List hasn't been updated since August 14. Likely, the perk was accidentally restored without having been fixed, and turned off again as soon as that was discovered. Killswitches do not happen without prior notice on social media among other places.

I don't know because I don't have the perk (I'm also not interested in it) but, if I recall, the masquerade party pallets were a single rebuild and I believe the 2v8s are as well. I would hope they thought of those worse case scenarios.

You can rebuild pallets in 2 v 8 as many times as you want, so long as you have your ability off cooldown. That means you can restore Shack pallet multiple times per match. In a game mode like 2 v 8 it's not that big of a deal.

Being able to restore pallets in 1v4 would break the game balance considerably.

  • Was supposed to be fixed in patch 9.1.1 but is still in the game:

  • Guaranteed 4k at 5 gens every match, nobody can resist him!

  • Claudette: The Botanist
Jonah: The Mathematician (as The Mastermind is unfortunately already taken)
    Cage: The Superstar
    Alan: The Author
    Lara: The Graverobber
    Orela: The Paramedic

  • After closing and restarting the game, my charms were once again reset (had to put them back on Claudette).

I checked to see if maybe the 2 v 8 defaults to a different preset but no, they're on 1 in both queues.

and HOW do you do that? How are you able to find your fun? I mean, I suck at looping, that means the game is quickly over for me and I don´t have the chance to do anything, because more and more killers tend to tunnel off hook from the start. How can I have fun if I am not allowed to do anything besides hanging on the hook, staring at my screen ?

It's all about the goals one sets for oneself, what one wants to get out of the game and what one wants to work towards. Mindset matters.

I absolutely understand if someone wants to actively try to improve and be good at this game. And that it can be frustrating if that progress is very slow. I respect the dedication and the desire to want to be an active learner, as I call it. In this game, I am a passive learner. I can remember things I see or do, but not because I choose or want to, but simply because I have seen or done it enough times that it stuck with me. I can find a totem on this map or that map because it always spawns there, but don't ask me to describe how the tiles on Dvarka Deepwood look because I could not tell you for the life of me.

For me, personally, it's not so much about improving as it is to just enjoy the things DBD has to offer. I have plenty of characters I like to play as, and so I want to get a high prestige on them. Characters like Nicolas Cage with his goofy voicelines, or Dark Lord with his absolute banger of a chase theme, etc. Things like that. I don't go out of my way to do things I know I am not good at, such as flashlight saves. Any time a challenge like that appears in the Rift I let out a deep sigh and get on with it.

No matter how poorly a match goes, if I got progress to something, anything, whether that was a prestige or a challenge, it's a win in my book.

My way of making fun doesn't have to be someone else's way of making fun, so my situation absolutely doesn't have to apply to you, or anyone. It's just how I approach the game.

  • If it's any consolation, I am approaching 3800 hours and you wouldn't be able to tell from the way I play this game. It might as well have been a 100 hour player on your team 😁.

The reason why this has never discouraged me from playing DBD is because I do not give a damn about improving. I play DBD for a lot of reasons, getting gud at it has never been one of them. I find my fun in many other ways!

  • They didn't go far enough.

Jim should have been featured in a banner and as a charm too! 😁

  • I think it's safe to say that what happened in the recent weeks can rightfully be considered an All-Shaking Blunder.

The time to lock in and get something done is now, and this looks promising. But we need to see actual results.

  • What I think they should do, now that Fog Vials have charges:

    - Revert the opacity nerf they received recently
    - Fix the opacity inconsistency between maps
    - Maybe give them another charge or two, or rework one of the add-ons to have that effect.

    Wait.
So DDos can be partially fixed by just… not allowing randoms filling spectators slot????

Yeah, the reason why it happened in the first place was because cheaters were able to force themselves into the lobby, grab the server IP, leave, and attack it. But with every slot already filled, they can't do that. That's what Otz tried to do during the stream, by having trusted mods from his community step in to fill the spectator slots. However, they were all kicked out …

I want to know what's up with the Witcher charm and why it hasn't been given out. That was one of the most obvious charms to do with a license and it's crazy that it exists but is sitting in the game files unused.

A similar thing can be said about the D20 Dice charm. That one was released by means of a code, way after the D&D chapter came out. Yet it would have been perfect as a reward for buying the chapter …

I'm not saying milestones are ok but rift progression is tied to weeklies and dailies instead of milestones, I'm page 5 and rift ending is page 9, with 2 months left and 9 batch of weeklies

That is a valid point, indeed.

And event quests, like next week's 2v8, will provide a nice boost as well.

Milestones could be considered more of a bonus, but why not make that bonus more rewarding the further you go? Either they should bring back the 10-100 increment, or lock them at 50 per tier instead of 25.

  • @Choaron said:

I wonder if they just straight up forgot about it back then. Wouldn't surprise anyone.

There are a number of unreleased charms in the game files (which can also be viewed in-game when you untick every box in the filter pop-up) that should have been released immediately alongside their respective events.

There is a Silver Wolf Medallion charm, which you'd expect would be unlocked by buying a Witcher cosmetic. There is also the Boulet Brothers charm, that's still under lock and key even when owning both cosmetics.

I think it's a waste to have these charms designed, added, and then left to gather dust. And releasing them for a completely unrelated reason years after they were added feels kinda lazy.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

No, they don't count nor were they supposed to last rift either.

This was actually a "bug" where those quests were counting but somewhere towards the end of last rift, they fixed it so they don't count anymore. This actually caused some extra bug reports since it broke people's counters for those who didn't have the last reward yet. They did last second lower the requirement to 33(?) so people only had to play one game to get it.

For this rift, they fixed it properly and they don't count for progress. They intend for you do complete every quest in order to get the final reward.

For the record, this is silly and 3 quests a week absolutely should count since it's very confusing. If they want people to do every quest then just make last reward requirement 55.

    Thanks!

That explains also why the math in the current Rift checks out. If each week only gives 4 quests that count, then reaching 44 for the final reward is possible. Players just have to complete all quests.

  • Here to chase away the crickets.
