If this keeps happening for you, I'd suggest contacting Customer Support.
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/categories/6713776396180-Dead-by-Daylight
-
If you think someone is breaking game rules, then please make a report.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/139-game-rules - game rules are here for reference, however reading the screenshots it doesn't look as if the person actually broke any rules.
-
I am sure you're not the only person no, it's definitely not how I play though. I'm normally the person making saves and I'll take hits for my team mates especially if they're on death hook and I've not been hooked.
If someone goes down to NOED, I'll try to get that totem out before making a save or if I've not been hooked will trade places if I need to buy the team time etc.

Thank you kindly for replying and providing some insights on the situation. And, more importantly, thank you for your patience. I realize that it might seem like we aren't exactly forbearing, but I hope you understand that sometimes the feeling of "so close, yet so far" gets to us, especially when more and more titles are being added to the "Supported" section of the Steam Deck/Linux.
I do wish you and the entire Dead by Daylight Team all the best and look forward to the day when Dead by Daylight will come to Linux.
<3 <3 <3
I completely understand don't worry...as someone who'll be hopefully getting a Steam Deck shortly, I too want to play DbD on it, especially when travelling, so I do completely understand.
The minute I find out any information, I will update though.

Where is this BHVR? Didn't you say it was coming?
We said it would come in the future, we did not give an ETA for Steam Deck and we specifically said it would not be at launch. When we have an ETA for when this will be implemented we will be sure to communicate that, until then, there is no information I'm afraid.

Ooo that's exciting! Here's hoping your terrible luck with injuring yourself on kitchen appliances doesn't follow you lol
that's definitely one thing I really want to leave behind...

@GoodBoyKaru said:
Like, I don't doubt that it is, and this isnt me questioning why it's against the rules, or saying that it shouldn't be. I'd like to make that clear first.
Just wondering where in the rules it says that? I've given it a brief one-over (and also know most of the rules pretty well by now lmao) and couldn't find where it's expressly forbidden, unless posting a code is classed as a trade post? That's the only mention I could find.
Full disclaimer, used the mobile site in case that matters and it actually is there on PC.
If a mod or anyone else could point it out to me I'd be really grateful because I don't know if I'm blind or not, especially since it says expressly.
And again, to any mods, please don't take this in the wrong way- I just saw the message and got curious is all.
It comes under the trade rule. Sharing or gifting of codes has always come under that rule - hence posts have been removed and people received notification from us many times in the past.

Quick question: why would you make sharing codes against forum rules then specifically release codes for cosmetics people are likely to have already?
You could have claimed releasing an existing cosmetic this way was to foster community interaction, but instead went and made a rule against it...
Sharing codes has always been against the rules of this platform, it's not a new rule. The message is there on the top of the forum only because people were trying to share codes and is a reminder that it's not allowed here.

I hope that a mod, specifically Mandy, is able to see this post and confirm. You'll most likely have to wait for typical work hours tomorrow though, but she may pop on in her spare time (or she's got given funky hours by BHVR again considering time zones).
my hours do get rather weird indeed lol...not for long though, big move imminent
And just as an FYI our hosting provider has a fantastic customer support that really help us with the issues that we occasionally have, I really do not need to bully them in the slightest. They're super helpful and really try to work within the customisation that we have on this forum.
-
This is a really good question. It would be good to hear people's responses to this.
Thank you for asking this!
-
It's an issue that I'm aware of yes. Spoken to our host provider today - it was also acknowledged by one of our mods in the forum feedback section here earlier today.
I don't have an ETA on when we can get a fix on this yet, but I'm hopeful it will be soon.

I wouldn't care if it was this exact same cosmetic but different color at least... It's not that hard to render cosmetics in different colors but no, we get the same.lame cosmetic like 95% of the community already owns, not even an option to scrap it for shards.
Also where are the auric cells they kept saying we will get with prime? 😅 did that idea get scrapped as well as everything else always does?
we've never said you get Auric Cells with Prime. Rumours are abound constantly, which is why we advise players to only listen to our official communications.
-
I'm going to address the Devs are survivor sided comment here. This is completely not the case...the designers of this game are neither survivor sided or killer sided, they consider the game as a whole.
If there are any adjustments made to Wesker or his power, then these will be done for the health of the game same as any adjustments to perks etc. It's not about one side or the other.
-
Please remember that giving away codes is prohibited on this platform.
-
Just want to double check, you've switched back to the Live game and you're missing 8k shards?
If that is the case, I do suggest you contact our Support team who can look into this further for you.

We're aware of the issue on the 50k BP for the 12th August - we will be adding that reward back in, so that players do not miss out on the BP.

Please do not repost others artworks without their approval, in this forum.

You can find a lot of information on the official website:
-
The game only ends if the player fails to load fully into the game, there is sometimes a delay on this due to the loading procedure. But it's certainly not meant to end the game once the game has already started - which is what you're describing in your post.

getting into a locker against Tomestone Myers is not an exploit.

Yeah, my game seems totally fine. I got my rank reset rewards, and nothing seems amiss. I'm mostly just curious what impacted folks' accounts look like.
People who were affected by this would definitely notice, it was a lot of progress lost. If you've not noticed anything amiss then you were likely not affected by it.

It's not just "common sense" even the game rules page listed on the forum simply says "Holding the game hostage" is against the rules, but doesn't actually define what that means. I come from an era of: "If the game let's you do it, its allowed" because there is no way to know what is and is not an undocumented feature. Additionally, they even say you can't "exploit bugs" so was any killer running overcharge and call of brine a week ago banned?
If we're banning for an exploit with a perk (which is likely not to happen any longer as if we feel something is a big enough issue to do that, we would use the kill switch), we do list it in the issues in the game rules, and an in-game news notice would also be given.

And he won't get punished for that, because he's not using any cheats and cheating is the only ban-able thing as support told me, when I reported a griefer that held survivors as hostages in match.
players do get punished for this, however, it's not a permanent ban - it's a temporary ban and there is an escalation procedure.

Ok, back to the original post, where can I report the guy who did this? I refer to the Blight that I leave as physically locked Up Steve for more than 20 minutes.
You first need to make an in-game report of the player (this flags the match so that we can assure it did happen). Then send your evidence to Support: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/categories/6713776396180-Dead-by-Daylight

He's correct though that this is not holding the game hostage for the exact reason INoLuv explained.
Holding a survivor "hostage" seems more like it but there is no rule about that. I assume the example in the video would be bannable because of the griefing rule "Targeting specific users repeatedly in order to ruin their game experience" but the game can end because other survivors can do gens.
No whilst I understand your reasoning - that killer shown in the video is holding those two survivors hostage, those survivors cannot do anything to progress the game, the killer is holding their game hostage. It is clearly a hostage situation, and a bannable offence in game.
-

The killer is not holding the game hostage in this video. The others can do gens and leave (endgame ends all). Would be holding the game hostage if the killer bodyblocked 4 survivors like that, which would be holding the game hostage. In this example, there is another survivor alive besides the two? It is blurry, i cant see.
I'm sorry but that is incorrect...that's clearly a hostage situation as those two survivors can do nothing to progress the game. It's immaterial that there are other survivors alive in the game, the killer is preventing those two survivors from taking part in the game in anyway and they can do nothing about those circumstances. So yes there, the killer is most definitely taking the game hostage which is a reportable offence under griefing.
-
Thank you all for your information on this thread, when things like this happen is invaluable to get the platforms it's affecting and areas as quickly as possible. You all really helped so much!

Can you share what extra reward will be for buying new RE chapter? Im gonna buy it anyway but its nice to have something with it
That's a wait and see thing I'm afraid, I can't give information on up-coming things.
-
Any alteration of the game files is done at your own risk, and can trigger a ban...which is something we are unable to help you with.
-
With regards to the point about hook timer being paused if the killer is nearby. This was something that was tested some years ago and found to not work - it's very easily abusable. A survivor running in an area around the hook, killer chasing - that would pause the timer for example. Which is something out of control of the killer.
Whilst I completely agree that players should be encouraged not to camp, I do not feel that punishing for camping should be the route we go down (please bear in mind this is purely my own opinion here)....it should still remain player choice whether they wish to camp or not.
-
Dead by Daylight is a Live game, our EULA clearly states that changes can and will be made at any time, and you agree to that when you first play the game.
As for refunds, we do not give refunds to players due to game changes. You are free to contact the platform where you purchased the game from and discuss their refund policy with them - for example Steam refund policy is less than 2 hours played within 14 days of purchase....these are the times that they will grant a refund.
-
Ban Waves for DC's are not something we have done since the DC penalty was introduced, players are automatically timed out now.

Does that mean the blinks over 20 meters are also getting the increased duration? I thought the questionable math interaction was only happening with < 20 meter blinks?
only those addons have been changed. What was happening was that as they were increasing the distance of the blink, they kept the same blink time, so it was the speed of the blink that was increasing quite a bit.

Where’d you get this information from? I don’t think it’s in the patch notes.
Correct, it wasn't in the patch notes, that was an oversight. I have now added it into the Patch Notes for the 6.2.0 PTB, it's under content.
For reference, this is what has changed.
-
With body blocking if the killer (or another survivor) is holding a survivor in a corner where that survivor is unable to do anything to progress the match - that's a reportable offence, as that is 100% taking the game hostage. It's irrelevant if other survivors are able to do anything to progress the match, it's the survivor that's unable to do anything that is being held hostage.
Of course, if the survivor is slugged or hooked or EGC has started, then it's completely different as that survivor is progressing their game - even though that progressing is dying on the hook or the ground.
So yes, in the situation described by the OP - that's a reportable offence under hostage taking.
-
They are on the PTB for testing as of right now.
Hopefully, if all goes well they will be back on Live when this Chapter goes to the Live servers - but we have to ensure that all is working correctly with them prior to that time.

I think my main issue is that Holly doesn't really "Need" the hammock. It's one of those hammocks that sticks to the window so the cat can lie in the hammock and look outside but I have it setup in my house that all directions, there is a window and a way for Holly to sit at said window and look outside. My office window has a cat tower at it, my guest/Holly room has a big cushy chair setup next to the window so she can sit at it, my bedroom has a night stand with her heating pad at it, and my living room has a nightstand with her heated bed at it.
My God that cat is so spoiled but LOOK AT DAT FACE AND TELL ME SHE DOESN'T DESERVE IT FOR BEING SO GD CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!
She's spoiled yes, but she's definitely worth the spoiling <3

My chinchillas ignored the hammock for half a year and we decided to let it hang in the cage as deko. I even tried to hide treats on it to make them more used to it without succeeding.
now during the heatwave both started to use it!
omg Motte looks so cosy in the hammock!

no that's not something we can do. The Beta feature is built into the Live game, which is why you can toggle it on/off.
Unfortunately there are no plans for a PTB on console at this time.

he looks so comfy in his hammock...I want a hammock now as well :(

Players are entitled to one appeal - that's why support will no longer respond to you...as that appeal was already done.
We also do not publicly discuss bans, and by reading the game rules - you will see why you were permanently banned from our game.

"We will be removing the Bloodpoint bonus. While we understand this change may seem shocking, please keep in mind that this update reduces the grind by about 75%, with matchmaking incentives providing an additional avenue for Bloodpoints"
The change to BBQ isn't 'shocking' because the incentives provide an additional avenue for bloodpoints. I fail to see how an 'additional avenue' for something that has been removed is not in fact a replacement.
That's not what it means I'm afraid, that's reading too much into the words that we're saying. We are clearly stating that there's other ways to earn bloodpoints, and the ways in which BP can be earnt - it's most definitely not saying that MMI are a replacement. Especially as MMI will not be available at all times, they will be there for if/when which side needs it at any specific time of day, region, MMR rating etc.

You guys stated that the matchmaking incentive will provide additional BP to help the BBQ BP removal. Brining up the matchmaking incentive in the context of people being upset about the BBQ nerf makes OPs conclusion valid. Is that now retracted since apparently its not connected at all?
I'd be interested to see where we said that. As all our official communications has had MMI standing on their own and clearly explaining why we're using them...and there's no mention of replacements for bonus perks at all.

@RinsDoormat said:
As replacements for BBQ and WGLF, this makes them a straight downgrade for the user because they can no longer choose which side they wish to play while getting extra bloodpoints. And they ARE replacements for those two perks, though perhaps BHVR will deny this.
They are not replacements for the bonus BP on BBQ/WGLF - they're purely there for matchmaking, there's nothing hidden about "making up for something" in the slightest.
-
I would suggest contacting Support directly with regards to this, they're the best people to go to for things that are missing on accounts, as they have direct access to your account and can see more than we can see on the forums.
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/categories/6713776396180-Dead-by-Daylight
-
When you consider that there's 4 players for every 1 killer it's pretty natural to have a mismatch in numbers. The whole point of the matchmaking incentives is to encourage players to play a different role during times that are needed...for example it could be late at night in your area and there's a lack of survivors at that time, as 4 are needed for one match, the incentives will show that, and give a small reward for playing the side that's needed at that point.
-
There are various ways to play survivor, some survivors enjoy the hide n seek aspect whilst some enjoy the chase aspect - neither of those are wrong.
If you're having trouble finding survivors, there's an absolute myriad of perks that can assist you with this...that's the whole point of perks assisting with gameplay styles, it can assist you in the areas that you are weaker in. I also suggest playing both sides, so you'll have more understanding/knowledge of how/why survivors hide especially those that understand the field of vision of the killer.
-
I'm closing this thread, it has absolutely no place on a forum for gaming discussion in an open and inclusive society.
Body shaming is an actual thing, that I would expect people here to understand about. People come in all shapes and sizes and that should be celebrated, which is definitely not what I am reading in some of these comments here.
