  • It's at the point where I used to just buy every DLC with real money and now I use shards months after the killer releases and often don't buy the licensed killers at all, simply because I know I'm not going to grind them enough to make them actually usable.

The solution is rather obvious: get rid of completely worthless perk tiers, cutting the grind by 2/3. They add nothing of value to the game. Prestige system should be thrown out too. It was never a good system.

  • It's a reaction to the intolerable fanbase more than anything else.

I think the more killers the better they said themselves they want a lot I think they said around 60 or more honestly I think its best because I get bored cycling through these it gets boring I like new killers changing things up

The game is so grindy that you can't even realistically play more than a handful of them.

  • Yes. The more content a game gets, the less impressive new content is. I barely even register the addition of new non-licensed chapters these days, DbD has more killers than it ever needed.

  • BHVR has never been transparent about this sort of thing, look at Scream and the Ghostface DLC. I will give you the answer: BHVR made a temporary deal (in which paid content would remain forever but no longer be purchasable, while free content like the map would disappear) and either chose not to renew it to save money, or Netflix wasn't interested in renewal. We will never know which because BHVR isn't open about this stuff. It's completely possible that this could happen again depending on the length of the licensing deals made.

I don’t think so. Once you hit a certain level as killer only SWFs will really beat you if you are playing with strong builds. When I play meta pyramid head, meta Bubba, even meta clown the games are usually a slaughter. I’m not even using Nurse or Spirit.

That has less to do with balance and more to do with the fact that solo queue survivors are generally pretty dumb. They don't even understand when to spread out and when to group up.

  • I'd say Freddy. His power is to teleport directly to generators and set up snares and pallets that just make chases a little easier. His stealth capability from his lullaby and not being able to see him from far away is entirely passive, unlike someone like Myers who needs to try to be sneaky.

The only skill Freddy takes is basic M1 killer skill, but if we count that then we can't say any killer doesn't require skill and the entire argument is moot.

That's why I hate when I spawn and survivors start repairing together (without Prove Thyself), sometimes 3 of them, the same corner gen.

I already know how the match is going to proceed when I see my teammates doing this: 3 corner gens will probably pop in 2 minutes, but then the killer eventually gets a super strong 4 gen setup because everyone refused to stay separated and prioritize middle gens. Everyone dies after.

And the worst? They always get cocky after popping the first gens quickly, it just kills them faster.

What actually happens is the killer shows up before the three can finish the first gen they spawned on, and then two survivors are downed and another injured in the first minute. Then it turns into a hook divebombing match to farm as many points as possible before hopefully getting the hatch.

  • SWF will never be addressed. If it was going to be addressed it would be 5 years ago when it was implemented. BHVR was lazy with it and now the game is stuck like this, and every new map, killer and information perk they add to the game makes it harder and harder to balance the game so that SWF and solo queue are on a near even playing field. BHVR is in too deep and will continue to add new DLC every 3 months to distract from underlying problems.

As a killer in terms of his power he is fine to play against IMO. But no exaggeration the majority of the Nemesis players I've faced this past week have been fierce tunnelers. Even at five gens. Its not made facing him a pleasant experience for me.

That's because Nemesis is a worthless killer. Unless you literally play the game for a living and are at a tournament level of skill, you cannot win with Nemesis against average survivors, not even factoring in good SWF. Those players are doing what they need to do to win. If they play the nice killer 8 hooks before any kills strategy they will lose horribly.

  • Weren't the devs talking about clothing damage and blood accumulation a year or two ago? I could have sworn it was even in a PTB.

  • I had a match a week ago where I couldn't do a second blink for the first two minutes or so of the match. Every chain blink bugged out and I lost a few gens before my first down because of it.

  • Nemesis is a significantly worse Pyramid Head who has to hit 3 times to down, whose power is easier to use but far less powerful. And instead of cages he gets zombies which are occasionally hilarious but often useless. The number one way to counter Nemesis is to hold W and start running the moment you see him because it will take forever for him to get into a position where he can even begin to hit you with a tentacle. If Nemesis were released three years ago he might be considered a fun killer but by today's standards he is trash.

  • Everything about Nemesis is half-baked, from the tentacle attack to the contamination status effect and the way you cleanse yourself of it, to the addons and to the zombies and the way they work.

At the bare minimum the speed boost on contamination needs to go if Nemesis is to be anything but a terrible version of Pyramid Head, and even then he'll still be half-baked, just playable.

  • I don't think any killer perks are overpowered. Some have very strong synergy with certain killers' abilities and can feel very oppressive but that has more to do with the massive gulf in power between different killers than anything else.

  • SAW. It's complete trash and is edited like a crappy music video. Also, the lack of reading comprehension in this thread is astounding.

Honestly, if I could get his full body suit from the beginning of RE3 Remake I'd be happy

That garbage bag for his head will be $10, please. No mixing it with the prestige parts either.

  • Judging by how the devs said they originally played for more zombies with an addon adding an extra one, but couldn't do it for technical reasons, my guess is the zombies were supposed to be a much bigger deal but got nerfed in development for purely technical reasons. And then all they have is a mediocre at best chasing power, and they weren't willing to make said power god tier.

  • Nemesis is C tier at best and nobody will be playing him past the first week. He's like a horrible version of Pyramid Head.

  • Most likely because people weren't buying the identical headpiece. Whatever money they lost giving you, an early buyer, the rest of the outfit for free they will earn by forcing people to buy the full set instead of just the two pieces that are actually different. And now you can't mix and match because of BHVR's greed.

The head.. it shouldn’t be identical.. but I guess maybe that was due to it being buggy that it was individually purchasable…

That's definitely not the reason because Leon's outfits weren't linked before and now they are. I cannot believe that the head is meant to be different, because in RE3 Jill's head and hair do not change between the two outfits that made it into DbD.

A mod confirmed in another thread that this is indeed a bug.

What is a bug? The linking of the outfits or the head being identical? Because the head SHOULD be identical - it just shouldn't be a buyable option at all. It should be a two-piece set

  • In RE3 remake, the hair doesn't change and the outfit is just an outfit, meaning it should have been a 2-piece outfit in DbD. I guess BHVR wanted the money for 3 pieces so they cloned Jill's head and slapped a price-tag on it. And now they've stealth-linked the outfits so you can't just buy the two pieces that are actually different, reducing customization options and lowering the quality of the game.

  • They know the average player is dumb enough that it won't matter if they can see them. Once they've taken the time to get near the hook and can see the killer, they will consider not unhooking in the killer's face to be a waste of time since they spent time traveling to the hook. So they'll unhook anyway. Especially since all 3 survivors will have rushed the hook.

  • Probably Lullaby for the Dark. Huntress was revolutionary and the survivor perks (except No Mither) were good. Plus it was free. The map is too big but at least it isn't a weird indoor map.

  • Give us shirtless Nemesis, it was in the original game.

  • It's just the remake model. My real issue with remake Nemesis is how dumb his clothing looks. Hopefully we can get a classic skin. It wouldn't change his body frame or anything like that, but I'd like to get the classic face and coat.

  • Good survivors and killer, good survivor perks, bad killer perks and a map that will be hell to play on as pretty as it may be.

  • He's completely faithful outside of the lack of any heavy weaponry. He's faster than survivors, M1s them and has a tentacle attack with an infection mechanic, which is true to the character and also does a good job of representing Resident Evil which is about biological agents.

  • I think Repressed Alliance is to counter Pop Goes the Weasel and prevent it from being used, while Blast Mine is so if the killer kicks the generator before searching you're pretty much guaranteed to get away.

  • If there are legendary skins, Claire is a shoe-in as one available at launch. For males, it would be either Chris or Carlos.

  • They made the right choice. Leon is the most popular male character, and the most popular RE2 character. Jill is the most popular female character, and the most popular RE1 character. They pleased the maximum amount of people with this combination, and chose the most iconic as well.

  • Whose boons? Your boons or my boons?

  • Plague keeps you injured and then is a somewhat anti-stealth M1 killer unless you cleanse in which case they get the damage vomit.

Nemesis either M1s you or tentacles you to infect you and then eventually he can damage you with the tentacle directly. He doesn't have any built-in anti-healing. He also has the zombies which may be able to force pallet drops near generators.

  • Literally everything in this DLC is what I wanted outside of the default outfits/appearances. Hopefully the cash shop will fix that.

Sure you can. Create an secondary account log into the game from a different station than you normally play. Create a custom game and join it with your main account which is friends with your secondary account. Memorize and practice the map to your hearts content. Or get one friend to do it with that isn't you.

Or the devs can implement a basic feature that would take an hour at most.

  • Between the 20 minute queue times if you're not playing early in the day and how fast a chase can be over if you try to experiment (the only way to get better) that isn't going to happen. Most survivors will never learn how to play on maps like Midwich because they have to play for 100 hours to get a single match there and then it's over as fast as it began.

    have you tried getting good

being serious, i think KolbyKolbyKolby raises a good point, i personally feel like i get pretty frequently ######### over by map rng and lobbies. i don't feel the game is leaning towards either side atm, i think the big issues are affecting everyone

Not really possible to get good as a survivor. Five years in and you still can't deploy solo into a map and try to learn the loops, or practice throwing hatchets, or what have you. Other games in the genre had this stuff day one.

As someone with no bias between Silent Hill or Resident Evil, I highly doubt Lady D's daughters will become the Killer(s). You say they're secondary villains, but I would call them tertiary at best- Mother Miranda is the boss/big-bad of the entire game, her 4 Lords are really the secondary villains, and every other boss fight (including the daughters) are tertiary at best.

As for who it'll be, there's really 2 trains of thought for this. Firstly, this is a big license as well as DBD's 5th anniversary and RE's 25th. It makes sense to celebrate the nostalgic, so older games and beloved characters are more likely. The RE2 and RE3 remakes really popularized Mr. X and Nemesis, so they're frontrunners for the Killer.

Secondly, some people say Capcom could force DBD into making the Chapter RE8 focused for marketing purposes. While it kind of makes sense (was revealed during the RE Showcase) I personally don't put much stock in this as RE is a large enough license to market and be successful w/o DBD's help (as seen by the massive success of RE8 over the last few weeks). If this is the case however, Lady D herself isn't a bad choice for Killer- I just don't see Ethan being a Survivor since his face was never officially shown (to my knowledge).

On a final note, I have learned never to predict BHVR's release patterns, as the only thing you can count on is disappointment, especially when looking at the updates and releases since Silent Hill.

If anything, RE3's remake depopularized Nemesis, and the gap in quality between the two recent remakes and how Mr. X and Nemesis work in those games is the only reason anybody is even considering that it might not be Nemesis.

  • Hag. I'd delete her from the game if I could. Can camp from across the map and is strong to boot.

  • Nemesis, Jill and a location from one of the first three games, please.

  • The best argument against RE8 killers would be that this deal was obviously made long before these bit-part minor villains were revealed to the public, before Capcom realized how popular they would be. If they knew they'd be this popular they would have had more presence in their own game. That they didn't realize it then means they'd be unlikely to shill these characters in crossover DLCs.

  • Why would Mr. X be like Myers? He's not a stealth killer.

  • It's because survivors still usually lose on The Game, because it's a confusing indoor map where it can be difficult to find generators and killers can come from unexpected directions. In addition, you have to play for 50 hours to get a single match there so good luck learning how to play the map. Yes, if all the survivors know the map like the back of their hand they will destroy most killers there, but most players aren't like that so I'm sure BHVR's stats show it as a killer-favoring map.

  • @DawnMad said:

Killers should be balanced around S tier and survivors should be balanced around SWF levels information wise. I'm not surprised most people are choosing the second option, they should consider the competitive level of DbD too. If the game ever gets a good MMR system and best killers were matched with the best survivors, in its current state no A tier or below killer would have a chance at all. That's why tournaments are full of Nurses and Spirits and even they have to play dirty to do well.

Giving survivors SWF levels of information would practically require deleting quite a few perks which would be rendered redundant. It's far too much of an undertaking for BHVR to ever bother with.

My friend's theory was as such: Killer running Iron Grasp = Killer running NOED.

His thought behind that theory was that anyone who's desperate enough to run Iron Grasp (a pretty useless perk, unless you're specifically running a basement build -- and even then, Agitation is the superior perk) is someone who's desperate to not have someone wiggle off while carrying them to a hook. And someone who's desperate enough to not have someone wiggle free is the same player who'll be desperate to not end the match without a kill -- and likely to be running NOED to try and secure them. (This excludes, obviously, people running NOED with a specififc Endgame build in mind).

I actually thought he had great psychology behind that theory -- and whenever we see Iron Grasp, it feels like the killer almost always has NOED to go with it.

There are obviously other signs -- the way a killer plays during the match is the biggest -- but that's an interesting tell that I thought sounded ridiculous at first, until it started predicting NOED with surprising regularity.

That psychology is broken. If a killer is running Iron Grasp, it usually means they're either new and don't have teacheables unlocked and are forced to go with universal perks, or the character is low level and they're making do with what they have. NOED provides immense value in such a situation and is a better choice than most non-teachable perks.

  • Did Twins really get hurt that badly? They were being rated in A tier by most people prior to the nerfs.

  • For original chapters, I'll take a Grey alien. Not enough Greys in horror.
