I think there will be a map. People expect it of a licensed chapter and it's been a year since the last one. Resident Evil is one of the biggest licenses in a long time, dwarfing Silent Hill. I can't see them skimping on it. It's also part of why I expect two survivors.
-
I think the trailer was just something to announce the collaboration at Capcom's Resident Evil showcase. I doubt there's much there to hint at the actual contents of the chapter. But yes, it's fairly obvious they're going to base the chapter on the original trilogy just like they did with Silent Hill. That's the iconic stuff.

Like the Plague powerup, you'd have to earn it and survivors would know you have it. It would be limited, a secondary power. The primary power would be the tentacles Nemesis can shoot out and an infection mechanic to go with it.
-
Nemesis as the killer. Normal movement speed and terror radius. Has a ranged tentacle attack that slows him down but can injure survivors. It can't down injured survivors immediately but will infect them, and more hits will speed up the infection. Infection is cleansed with healing or with items scattered around the map, not sure which. Fully infected survivors either become disabled at times and are easier to M1, or they become vulnerable to being taken from injured to dying by the tentacle attack, creating a question of whether to wound them with the tentacle and then finish them with an M1 or risk taking longer so you can build up to an easier ranged takedown.
As you damage and chase survivors a bar will fill, and when it fills a supply drop will land in the map. If Nemesis goes to it he will have a rocket launcher with limited ammunition and perhaps a timer as well. It oneshots survivors if it lands very close to them (tricky unless they go for a window or something like that) but if they're far enough away it will only take one health state. Rockets will also regress generators by a large amount, so you can use it for that purpose as well. Survivors get plenty of warning that Nemesis has got the rocket launcher so they can try to wait it out or at least be careful.

neat power idea i can see that being a passive for a killer
Yes, that would actually work better as part of the RE2 Tyrant's power, and would emulate how he plays in RE2's remake - only dangerous because he forces you into areas with faster enemies and catches you between a rock and a hard place.

If the entire chapter is based on RE2 and we get Mr. X as the Killer instead of Birkin, I'd be kinda disappointed since he doesn't have much you can do with his power besides just being really strong and he wasn't very scary. Jack has his weapons, Birkin has his first three forms (his fourth and fifth forms are too big to fit in the game), and Nemesis has a crap ton of attacks and weaponry. Now that I think about it I wonder if the zombies are because of Nemesis. Wasn't he the one to infect Brad in the original game?
Yes, Nemesis can infect people, and he infects Jill in RE3 resulting in the player having to play as Carlos and raid the hospital for a cure. I'd make Nemesis as he was in the original game: not absolutely huge, normal movement speed, tentacle ranged attack with infection status ailment and the rocket launcher as a Plague style powerup with the rarity of Myers tier 3.

With Silent Hill, they took the map from the first game, the killer from the second game and the survivor from the third game. Assuming they do the same thing here and base the DLC around the first three classic games, then If Claire is the survivor that would probably rule out T-00, or Mr. X as fans call him even though it isn't his official name. Since RE2 gives us the iconic police station and both Leon and Claire, unless they decide to make the DLC entirely focussed on RE2 which was not what they did with Silent Hill even though it would have been less controversial there I just can't see them giving up Leon, Claire and the police station just to get T-00 in the game. The most likely killer is Nemesis, as he is the true iconic monster of the series and has the most interesting powers, and he defines RE3.
If it were up to me, the DLC would use the police station as the map, Nemesis as the killer and Jill and Leon as the survivors as I feel they're the most iconic and popular of the classic RE characters and it would please fans of both the RE1 and RE2 duos. The DLC would also be more cohesive than the Silent Hill DLC as even though these elements would be pulled from different games they all interact.
I think the only possible hint in the teaser is the hint towards the police station via the symbol from the key. Otherwise the teaser just exists to announce the DLC for Capcom's showcase without spoiling the details and ruining the hype for the DbD anniversary stream. I don't think there is much to analyze there.

Im a big fan of both game series too, it has to be Nemesis and probably Jill as survivor, with Carlos if we are lucky.. and if it turns to be that way then i can see Claire and Leon being legendaries.
If they chose Jill and a male survivor it would probably either be Leon for popularity or Chris because he is her true partner. Carlos would just be a legendary skin. Even with RE3 remake boosting his popularity he just isn't going to be anything but a skin. They would also be pulling too heavily from RE3 if they went with Carlos.

The only RE killers that could feasibly make it into the game that I could see being actually interesting and unique are Nemesis and Birkin. It certainly wouldn't be Mr. X, who has no power and no personality beyond unstoppable wall, which means his power would be related to breaking things faster and lunging and charging. Jury is out on the big lady, I don't know much about her.
The reason the devs are adding so many ranged options to the game is because they've recognized being a basic M1 killer is incredibly unfun and entirely up to the survivors screwing up. Every killer needs to be able to subvert the basic chase in some way in order to be fun and challenging.

Halloween. My only regret is how weak Myers has become over time. I remember when he was considered second only to Nurse...because there were only five killers in the game at the time.
-
I doubt there would be that much demand for it, compared to all the other legendary possibilities. I'm hoping the killer is Nemesis which would mean there probably wouldn't be that many, if any legendaries, and instead it would just be various Nemesis outfits.

While it's technically a videogame, the time has come for the Persona chapter.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm sorry what? If you think DS is the strongest perk in the game on BOTH sides (Stronger than 4 people having adrenaline, NOED, PGTW, and at least 10 other perks that are much better than it), you must rely solely on tunneling people out of games. That is the most laughable statement ever.
I bought the game when Freddy came out and the only times I used DS were to get my Laurie Adept, and when I have consecutive games getting tunneled and I'm irritated. And then I take it off again. There's plenty of perks I run before I even consider running DS
That's because DS is so powerful the killer will assume you have it and respect it even when it isn't there. The perk is so powerful you don't even need to use it to benefit from it.

Awww sad that you can’t tunnel people out of cages anymore?
You still can. The tunneling potential is only significantly weaker now during endgame. During the main game it's almost as easy to tunnel as it was before except for maybe on indoor maps. The main nerf is to Pyramid Head's information. Now he has no idea where the caged survivor is and more importantly no idea where at least one survivor is going to rescue him, and which gen they'll be hopping on together as soon as they've finished.
-
Cages will still be used exclusively to tunnel survivors, it will just be a little harder now because now you need to guess where the cage went. As long as it can be a chore to torment survivors, uncaging another survivor removes your own torment, and caging doesn't allow you to use hook perks it's going to remain exclusively a Decisive Strike mitigation tool. Survivors simply don't get tormented often and fast enough to justify using the cages to "save time".
-
This was inevitable. The only thing that made Pyramid Head good was his ability to tunnel. Without that he's nothing. Even the ranged attack isn't that special and is inferior to what most killers have in their kit. But the devs were obviously never going to let him keep the tunneling ability. This will drop Pyramid Head from mid tier to low tier.
