Are you thinking of the classic use of "Make your choice + Floods of rage" on the nurse?
Even if that wasn't what you were thinking about, it raises an interesting point.
When Amanda came into the game, the nurse already existed.
So the developers knew that, potentially, Amanda's skill could do something very dangerous with the nurse.
Although, if you think about it, just using Make Your Choice is pretty effectively dodged, where it gets very complicated is when it's combined with Floods of rage.
No I am more thinking of Starstruck Agitation on Nurse, or really any selection of gen slowdown perks stacked together.
MYC isn't a perk I really like on Nurse, it just forces survivors to play immersed which is very annoying

No more than 2 regression perks.
What is the composition of the build with which Supaalf is doing his marathon of chain victories, currently?
One anti-gen perk, one aura perk, one "exposed" perk and one terror radius perk.
So, everything should be forbidden, on the nurse...
The problem is not so much the perks as the people who face the nurse.
Even if of course, there are combos which are fatal. Ex : Midwich + Darkness Revealed 😫
The problem is, you always have to accommodate the lowest common denominator - that person who will ruin things for everyone and exploit the strength of a killer like Nurse by running insanely OP combos on her.
I cant name anyone but some of the builds well known people use on Nurse are a great example of the problem of making her completely broken. I honestly understand why people complain at this point and it sucks as Nurse was my favourite killer to play but I don't even want to play her any more as I just feel bad (I know I shouldn't) as survivors hate it and just give up a lot of the time.
I am not sweaty and I rum meme builds that often have absolutely no slowdown and even then I often just let everyone go as I really don't care any more. But the sweat lords ruin it for everyone
-
Honestly though, I have faced a lot of killers lately who run nothing but gen control perks and it becomes very oppressive and an absolute chore to verse. I am starting to think that more gen perks should not be able to be stacked as games can be won simply by doing this and grinding down survivors with continual passive regression.
I am facing more Nurses running such builds with at least 3 slowdowns and as a Nurse main myself I feel it is absolute overkill and makes the game very unfun and borders on unfair with high mobility killers.
-
One thing I think is that events make a lot of the very casual players fire up DBD again and if things don't go their way they don't really care if they get a penalty, as they aren't that invested in playing in the first place. It is why DC penalties cant be too harsh - if you penalise players too much they will just play something else anyway and you drop players out of the queues
I am at the point I barely react any more though, some matches I will just get hooked and go next and others I feel like salvaging some points at least so will get all I can. But a dead team mate at 5 gens is a losing game of course...
-
Yeah I am absolutely sick to death of him at this point, I may not get him for a couple of matches if I am lucky but then I get him back to back, then a GF then Wesker again and so on.
It really is a shame we cant choose to skip lobbies of certain killers even just for temporary amount of time, as nobody wants to stay in matches they are not having fun or are bored to death in. But I guess if that was an option Blight and Nurse players would never find games...
Not that Wesker is that horrible, just getting him so often starts to become really tedious for me personally

I do not blame people for dcing against nurse at all
especially starstruck nurse. ew
i wont do it. but i really really understand
Nurse was my main killer (I rarely play killer now) and even I can understand people not wanting to go against Starstruck Nurse. It really is a very obnoxious perk on her and on maps like Midwich it is just plain unfun.
NOT CONDONING dc-ing but I get why someone would in this case
-
All that aside, in my opinion medkits are the strongest item for survivors and as killer I will take a lobby full of flashlights or toolboxes over medkits any day. I have run Franklin's as killer but it feels really mean spirited and I know I find it annoying as survivor

The survivor-rulebook doesnt exist.
Got nothing to do with the survivor rulebook, many survivors have pretty absurd ideas about what constitutes tunnelling and camping.
But I think most of us know the difference between inadvertently finding the unhooked survivor again and taking that down (this is just bad luck of course) and the difference between survivors blatantly rushing hooks compared to shamelessly camping.
It is a moral/ethical issue imo and much of that is subjective but I think anyone with a slight bit of empathy knows what tactics are scummy or not.
-
Long story short, yeah it made a huge difference and helped to finally shake the incredibly stale survivor meta
-
I get why some people tunnel, particularly if skill is an issue. That being said I can excuse it when say 3 gens have gone and the killer only has 1 or 2 hooks or so. I also understand both camping and tunnelling when all gens are done and it is last hook, as where else do you need to be as killer?
But personally I have zero respect for people who camp and tunnel off hook at 4-5 gens and I have even less respect for those who do so with killers like Blight, Wesker or Nurse. I know this is a way to win but I just cannot bring myself to play like this, with the only exception being if they are a toxic SWF BMing me with clicky clicky etc. But my main killer was Nurse and survivors tend to not BM you as Nurse lol
I know how horrible it feels to be tunnelled and camped out of the game and annoyingly I have this hindrance called empathy and I cannot inflict that on others when I know how miserable it makes DBD

Would be interesting if bhvr did that to see if people will still play nurse because they think she's actully fun or stop due to only playing the strongest killer.
I would probably play her more tbh, I send myself to Lery's with the matchbox addon so I only have 1 blink just so survivors don't just give up the second they hear a blink, plus I enjoy the challenge.
That being said, Nurse can be incredibly frustrating to play at times though with her being completely recoded it has made her a lot less frustrating, plus it made her accessible to a lot more people as she is easier to play than she was.
I almost feel bad playing her now and it puts me off as I still want my opponents to also be having fun too so we can have a good match that people don't quit or DC on - though I rarely get DC's as I never tunnel or camp hooks but I do get a lot just giving up early on.
If Nurse was nerfed I feel I would definitely play her more
-
I haven't seen a cheater in a long time (not saying they aren't a big problem though) but during the DC penalty being off there was a DC almost every match and the game was becoming unplayable. I was watching different streamers and the same thing was happening in their games... So clearly the penalty being off was being abused

Good suggestion ^^ This would make nurse more balanced imo. Imo nurse isn't OP in the hands of most players, she has an extremely high skill ceiling. I consider myself an average to good killer. Not amazing but definitely competent. I can't use nurse for #########, against a pubby team of bad players I'll get a 4k. But any team with decent players i have no chance. I only ever use her if I'm forced to by a daily ritual/rift challenge.
Being on console makes her harder to use and i struggle to hit blinks. But someone who is good with nurse can utterly shred a team. And counterplay options are limited.
Much as I'd love to see her nerfed. I don't think she's as big an issue as people say. I hardly ever see nurses, and 60% of the ones I do see are pretty bad. And the good nurses feel impossible to play against but that doesn't happen enough to cause me major issues with the game.
Totally agree.
Nurse was my main killer (though I prefer not playing killer these days) and most survivors are clueless against her in my experience. But when you do face that minority of skilled survivors things get a whole lot tougher when playing Nurse. Average Nurse players get destroyed by decent survivors and I see it all the time myself.
Last two Nurses I faced DC'd and neither of them could down me, one did not even get a single hit on me. If you know how to counter her from experience you will probably have fun versing her. But that 1% of top Nurses are tough ngl but as you say they are so rare I just cant see a problem with her base kit being so strong, since so few can actually use it extremely well
-
Not at all surprised to see Wesker up there, it feels like I get him every second match. Glad to see Twins so low though, probably my most hated killer to verse

Nothings been fixed, still happening.
Oh dear, well they must have figured it was still worth putting penalties back on as the DC's were just out of control at this point. I have never seen it so bad, it wasn't even close to this bad before penalties even existed
-
I understand why they may have just put them back on, the situation was beyond ridiculous to the point streamers were playing something else as every match had a DC. Who knows if the issue causing them to turn it off in the first place is fixed though, since we have had no communication unless I am missing something here?
Could be they don't want to give cheaters a heads up that some exploit is in the wild too... maybe one reason for the silence?
-
DC penalties appear to be back on lol...at least from what I see watching a streamer
-
@OniWantsUrLocation said:
It's kind of sad that their first killer is "officially" the worst killer in the game.
Yeah poor Trapper.
I actually kinda enjoy playing Trapper, at least in theory. But every time I try him I seem to get Meat Plant and a SWF that unsets all my traps and pre-drops the 50 million pallets on the map and I generally have a really ######### time
-
We all know the answer here: remove double range, double recharge and make blink attacks special attacks and she will be fine. Sure in the hands of the few who are genuinely good with her she is still going to be the top killer but at least we can remove the utter BS aspects of her.
-
I have to also say that I feel killers are more where they should be now than they were before. I recently returned from a long break and before I left it took forever to find survivor games other than at 3am or during the day when most people work. Nobody wanted to play killer including me, the game was so survivor sided and the DH meta was making the game a misery for killers.
I love that more people want to play killer now and the frustratingly long wait for survivor games is a thing of the past. I just wish tunnelling off hook and camping at 5 gens wasn't as common as it seems to be these days
-
They really aren't and just because some streamer shares his subjective opinion, it does not make it so.
Today I have had several killers DC because they were getting stomped, two of them were Nurses btw
-
Yeah I have seen quite a few lately
-
This is why many people will only SWF and I do understand that.
I pretty much only play solo so I see a lot of this, last match had a Laurie sit on a gen while two of us were on hook and she let us both die while she Self Cared (yes, the actual perk) and then tried to find hatch but failed to do that lol.
If you want to avoid this, then play in a SWF with people you know are half decent
-

Unpopular and hated are not reasons to DC. Players are DCing because they are found first.....they are DCing because they are downed first.... people are DCing because they don't like the map they are on.... They are DCing because they don't like the Killer they are facing.
All can be argued those are "unpopular" or "hated" but none are reasons to DC. All that does is ruin the game for those who are playing the game normally. Before anyone says "But Camping and Tunneling are ruining the game etc...." Y'all have to remember that BHVR has said that those are valid strategies.
I totally get that but I think a majority of survivor mains will agree DCing because you were found first etc is not something they can justify. But tunnelling off hook (in particular) is something most of us will understand (not condoning it).
I don't think you will find many threads on here complaining about being found first etc but the complaints about camping and tunnelling off hook are never ending. Just because you can doesn't make it right
-

The thing is that's abusing the DC freedom....Camping and Tunneling are part of the game and DCing because because the match isn't going your way isn't the way and just shows the maturity of players....I get DCing if a hacker is holding the game hostage or you have to DC because some Real Life stuff happens or even system based DC issues.....but that's it.
You can say that all you want to but it isn't realistic as it doesn't take into account the human factor. No matter how much you try to justify it, it will never change the fact that being camped and tunnelled out of the game is a miserable experience for the person on the receiving end of it and it ruins the game for a lot of people.
It isn't even that I don't understand why some killers resort to this, I personally refuse to though as I know how horrible it feels and I don't want to get 'wins' by playing like an #########.
BHVR have made many perks and even added basekit BT to discourage tunnelling off hook, so it isn't like it is a secret this tactic is extremely unpopular and hated by much of the community.
-
Just had to add, the last 2 Nurses I have played against both DC'd lol
First one on the Asylum map because 3 of us were going to escape, second one on RPD which I am more sympathetic to as it is a rough map for killer and especially Nurse.
The reality is, most people playing Nurse are average to bad, the god tier Nurses are very rare but I do understand they are not much fun to go against but I rarely see truly great Nurses
-
The thing I don't get is I have seen a lot of killers camping and tunnelling off hook at 5 gens and generally playing in a really scummy way. So with DC penalties being off, what do they expect will happen when they play like this?
I mean, I guess it is an easy win but as killer I don't want to win because I played like an ######### and someone left early on
-
Honestly, while some abuse it there have been scenarios where I have had to be grateful the penalty is off. This is NOT CONDONING DC's but I just had a game where a Wesker camped first hook at 5 gens and then immediately tunnelled the survivor off the hook and everyone just left the match lol. It kinda felt nice to be able to gesture that if you are not going to play the game with some level of decency, we will not play with you at all.
The trouble is people abuse no DC penalty beyond a joke
-
Elodie, I always thought she looks like an ultra Karen with a direct line to every manager in existence
-
Well I will put it this way... If I could block Twins, Trickster and Pinhead I would do so. Edit: reason is I find them extremely irritating to verse
As someone who mained Nurse (but feels bad playing her these days) I find Starstruck Nurse to be pretty gross and while I can't advocate quitting I understand why someone might nope out of a Starstruck Nurse match
-
Just a hint, if the killer is bad it is almost certain they will have NOED so expect it and play accordingly (not saying literally everyone using NOED on a killer is just bad but most of the time they are).
-
I believe the issue is mostly on console for those saying they have not had crashes. I have had one crash where both me and killer got disconnected at the same time but this was before penalties were turned off and I didn't get a penalty for that.
I suspect we will see a hotfix in the next couple of days, at least I would hope so otherwise the no DC penalty thing will kinda ruin this otherwise pretty decent event
-
Nah it is fine, without a doubt the best one I have played during to date (I have taken long breaks from DBD). I have no complaints personally
-
Yeah clearly most people have figured it out as I got very few DC's at the start of the day and then they started to increase...
I really wish there was no DC penalty but every time it is turned off I am reminded of why it needs to be there
-
It would be great to have a few more settings, I want to run ultra but dial back shadow intensity as shadows on ultra are far too dark. I can't be bothered with filters either so I just resort to low to avoid it all. Hopefully they do get around to this, as having to edit config to get 120fps etc is a bit of a chore
-
I will say GG even if I die or lose if they played well and were not all about BM or just being annoying for the sake of it (as many SWF's are). I have a lot of respect for people who play well and don't resort to scummy tactics to get wins.
That being said, at this stage I struggle to give a GG to any Weseker as I am beyond sick to death of them. So instead of complaining I just leave...

NOED works just fine if used correctly (especially if you have a special attack that can hide the fact that you have it). I find it works best as part of an end game build with No Way Out and Blood Warden. All you need to do is get someone on the hook without a basic attack. Then wait for the other survivors to try and make the rescue. Don’t swing until you have at least 2 near the hook trying to body block for the save.
I never run NOED, if I played well they should not make it to end game in the first place
-
Yep, though by far I play more survivor with the matchmaking incentives I will switch between roles. Though honestly I find survivor far more relaxing than killer, killer can stress me out at times

If they're bad and/or have the frosty eyes cosmetic on, they are almost always running NOED. On the plus side, if they're bad, NOED won't save them. It's the occasional good killer running NOED that will get you.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3228855#Comment_3228855
I used to, but I gotta admit it has seen a downturn in usage to the point where I don't anymore.
Yeah agreed, NOED is even less likely to help these days but they still seem to run it. However I see it far less than I used to...

Not to everyone. I remember all the times I started and heard the noise and was like "Oh god, please don't be her..." Then when I DO play well, it still feels so mind numbingly boring.
Honestly LegionMain, I find versing Legion mind numbingly boring and one of the most excruciatingly tedious experiences in DBD. I am sure I am not alone in that but either way fun or boredom are subjective
-
if the killer is really bad I expect NOED and I am almost always right.
-
Speak for yourself, I like going against Nurse and most matches they give up on me and try someone easier. I know how Nurse works so I know how to make chasing me a real pain for them and that makes me enjoy going against Nurse.
The only things I really dislike are tunnelling Nurses, Starstruck Nurse and Nurse with multiple slowdown perks as a good Nurse should not need that and it makes games tedious
-
I have done it out of spite because team mates waste so much time booning it drives me mad. Sure, set up a boon but when a killer keeps stomping the same one and a team mate keeps booning over and over it is all time we could have spent on gens and already be in the next match.

They have in the past turned off the DC penalties when a similar hack was loose. (And yes, it sucked because DCs spiked while that was the case.)
Yeah I know and it was an absolute disaster. I suspect it would have to be a critical issue for them to actually turn off penalties and I don't think we are there yet.

Right now, there's a new thread where a lot of players are complaining about a DC hack. The developers will probably have to remove the DC penalty while they patch that DC hack before it spreads like wildfire.
I bet they wont remove it though, or I would be extremely surprised if they do as DC's get beyond ridiculous when they do
-
Coincidence but remember Huntress is a very popular killer, she has been the most selected killer at times.
I tend to see none then see them all at once too, which I really don't like as I am not a fan of Huntress with her fridge sized hatchet hitboxes and the sheer number of them that seem to be camping/tunnelling enthusiasts
-
For me, yeah so far is the best but then I have taken long breaks so have not played through all of them
-
Yeah me too tbh, I have killers like Oni that I have owned since they came out and I have literally never played them even once. The anonymous mode kinda helps as at least I can get destroyed anonymously while I learn but being able to learn the basics against bots would be great
-
No, more Nurses please! She is one of my fav killers to play against but I don't see many of them and even less that are actually really good
