Besides my aforementioned Pinhead, Twins, Legion and Trickster... I am starting to find myself just wanting to go next against Plague too.

Yeah, you are right, happens to me too, and the worst is to heal under hook against killers like nurse, blight, they can be back quickly and happens often. Often also teamate after unhooking me want to heal me under hook even killer is coming back. Its ok to heal quickly under hook if you are sure killer is busy and not close.
So yeah, you are right, and some survivors not being healed under hook are sometimes angry tho, what u can do is unhook survivor show him to follow you and give him heal somewhere more safe place for both.
Yeah I don't get it and they clearly get angry at me because I nope out of there. But sure enough within 5 seconds they are down again...
Of course there are exceptions but some survivors are just suicidal for a hook heal at any cost

You're complaining that solo q players don't know when the killer is distracted or what perks his teammates have?
Because you know that lack of info isn't their fault, right?
You remember that, right?
I mean seriously... use your brain or your eyes perhaps? Obsession tentacles moving for example? Clearly team mate is being chased... if team mate has We'll Make It you will get the icon notification. I mean, this isn't difficult but in solo queue these things seem to be

Honestly why would a game like DBD need 240hz?
DBD is not a competitive game and does not need to cater for 240hz monitors and I would not expect this until 240hz becomes the norm (so unlikely to happen).
Though 144hz is pretty common now and I feel it really is long overdue that they have more options for PC graphical settings, with support for 144hz monitors or to at least unlock 120fps without config edits.
The 120fps limit isn't a limit of the engine by the way, Unreal will happily run at 144fps + and you could unlock DBD to run 144 at one point but I tried and it broke the physics so I went back to 120fps. The standard 62fps feels awful to me personally but 120fps is buttery smooth and more than acceptable for a non-competitive game like DBD imo

It's 1500 points. And another 1500 every time you reboon it in another place.
And this is why I hate boons, team mates will have a 'screw everyone else on the team' attitude and will waste so much time doing these things over and over to the point they become a 5th killer perk.

Why do people use CoH then wait for 10 minutes to use it?
One thing I cant understand... why do people boon a COH when the killer is Plague?

I started running Reactive Healing and a medkit because here lately the killer comes right back, the person who unhooked me will take a hit and then I can heal in about 5 secs myself either in a safe zone or mid chase if I heal after pallet drops or vaults
I might try that perk too, I have been using Resurgence a bit lately and I really like it. The only bummer is Sloppy Butcher counters it hard and that perk is fairly common. But being already 50% healed coming off hook is pretty decent if you have a medkit too

When I was new to the game I would always run away from the hook as soon as I was unhooked. Watching streamers always heal under hook I would think "They are game" now I'm one of those people. Yes, it is situational but more often than not I get the heal done and the killer doesn't come back. What I don't get is those people that run a few feet just to crouch behind something. It's like they don't know the killer can see scratch marks and has ears.
Yeah this is the problem, there isn't much common sense and judging the situation. I can't blame killers that take full advantage of it either
-

Why do 90% of my solo teammates insist on running to the furthest reaches of the map to heal after getting unhooked?
There is a balance but I rarely find that is the case

Oh trust me I know those teammates haha. They're the same that want immediate heals when it's their turns on hook. I had one spam crouching after I unhooked them wanting a heal, with a Huntress visibly pulling up her hatchet in the distance, haha ! They didn't last very long, to say the least. x)
Lol yep, they actually throw the match for everyone over something so simple to avoid...
-
@HugTheHag said:
I generally heal under hook or not far from it, because I have We'll Make It and often Guardian, so I know the killer is far enough to pull off a quick heal. In some cases it's better, because otherwise running off will leave tracks (mine, not the unhooked) and if the killer comes back, they will most likely follow those tracks, interrupt the heal and get a down.
That being said, I don't do it when in front of a ranged killer. That's just silly.
Of course there are scenarios where it makes sense, such as the killer is clearly distracted and un-hooker has We'll Make It. But very few people run We'll Make it and team mates seem to just want to go right back on that hook lol

Lol pretty much

I have maps I dislike but for me personally there are killers I dislike more than any map and these are the main reasons I will not really want to stay in that match. I have a suspicion that this is a significant reason for many DC's but I don't know how they could do anything about that as obviously many people would choose to not play against Nurse or Blight etc and those killers would never get games.
But I would rather wait three times as long in queue than play against Trickster, Twins or Pinhead... maps though? Meh, not really that concerned
-
You have to earn stacks on this perk and there are times where you just have to bite the bullet and lose your stacks as you cant afford to not take a chase that will likely result in a down.
Nothing wrong with STBFL at all as it is
-
Boy you would have hated DBD before DS got nerfed the first time so it deactivated once you started doing gens etc but still was active during EGC. Don't get me wrong though, some maps are borderline unfair on the killer side, particularly for M1 killers (The Meat Plant springs to mind). But killer is a lot more bearable than it has been in years and the queues indicate this is the case
-
Just the way it goes... I had a survivor hide while I was slugged for 4 minutes as the killer tried to find them. They hid in a locker instead of even trying to pick me up which they easily could have done. I had not been hooked up to that point either... Solo queue for you!
As killer I would have seen this (the survivor even had crows by the end) and let the slugged person go but there is no rule on what killers should or should not do and unfortunately none of us got out of that selfish scenario

Dbd has always had extemely bad framerate on consoles. Ever since the game came to console. The Ps5 and Series X can run the game better.
Of course, it was always pushing the boundaries of what those last gen consoles were capable of and honestly it is pretty impressive what devs can get out of such weak hardware - the benefits of having standardised hardware I guess.
But I can only smh and laugh at people who complain about any game not performing well on decade old hardware that was already a dialled down version of the PC equivalent... a DECADE ago.
I mean ffs, how do you reason with people who expect stellar performance in every game on decade old hardware, even revised versions? Good grief

If Resident Evil Village can run looking absolutely fantastic at 30fps then there's absolutely zero reason DBD sometimes struggles to hit double digits.
@GoodBoyKaru said:

It's also worth noting the devs have said GPU isn't the issue, at all. It's CPU optimisations that are causing them, and by extension players, so much strife.
Except they are wrong when they say that, anyone monitoring resource usage can instantly see the game is GPU bound not CPU bound. I don't know why certain people keep saying this as it simply isn't the case. Fire up Afterburner for yourself and check
Again, RE Village is a different engine and even when people give examples of other UE4 games they don't have the same level of graphics since DBD got an upgrade.
But anyway, I am tired of this topic at this point, people can whinge and complain about their sub-par hardware not performing well in certain scenarios but even with my dislike of BHVR I cant reasonably denigrate them for the game not performing well on decade old hardware that was barely mid range back when it came out.
Now the lack of graphics options, still no ultrawide support and inconsistent performance on high end hardware is another thing altogether...

The PS4 should still be well able to handle DBD
Not really, remember the GPU on the PS4 is a downgraded version of the AMD HD 7870 which came out in 2012. So the fact it can run it at all with acceptable frame rates is pretty impressive tbh
-
I think it is the worst Autohaven realm map for killers by a long way... Though I don't enjoy Azarov's either as it is pretty much the same tactic every time - force a 3 gen.
-
I have enjoyed the event and for once will actually be kinda sad to see it go. Best one so far for me personally

Nope that is not at all the case DBD is just optimised like utter shite. I experience more instability and frame hitches on DBD than other game with far far better graphics and can usually get better frames on other games.
@Pulsar said:

Fallen Order, Fortnite and Sea of Thieves then
Either way, I have not argued it has doesn't optimisation/performance issues... that does not change the fact that the PS4 is very underpowered now and nobody in any game company is going to invest resources into performance on obsolete hardware. The solution is to either live with it or upgrade... people may not like this choice but it is what it is.
Though if it is only one map the OP is having issues with they may even address that (RPD has always has issues though).
-
Trouble is you always have to consider the scumbags and guaranteed if you did that you would get those people who will start out matches immediately doing the most scummy thing they can possibly think of to try to force rage quits. Guarantee this will happen

Red Dead 2 looks better, is bigger and runs better than DBD on Xbox One.
Battlefront II looks LIGHTYEARS better and runs better on Xbox One.
Neither runs on UE4 though
-
@Pulsar said:

They can do a lot.
There's no excuse for DBD to look how it does and run like it does,
Oh don't get me wrong, it sure has performance issues and I have had my own complaints about optimisation as I have been having stuttering issues on a very high end PC (launch parameters seem to have helped for now at least).
But with them upgrading graphics and a PS4 falling ever more behind hardware wise... I dunno if they will be able to do much with very obsolete hardware at this point.

This is pretty much what I'm saying.
Thing is, I am no Alf but I am experienced enough and I win pretty much every game with her. The trouble is the other outlier here is the average solo team and I keep seeing my random solo team mates get absolutely destroyed by very average Nurse players.
-
@Lima24927 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3240383#Comment_3240383
the commenter was me, i asked his opinion, and he said no character should be able to do something like this.
And yea, Alf if right there too.
I loved Nurse but I feel bad playing her now as people just hate her and though I should not care about survivors fun, I actually want matches to be enjoyable for everyone and even though I mostly run meme builds I feel survivors hate it. I send myself to Lery's with the matchbox so I only have one blink lol... but people still give up and I never tunnel or camp either.
Fixing Nurses bugs was actually a massive buff to her, as her quirks and bugs made her quite difficult to play well in the past.
-
Alf himself said to a random commenter that no character should have a 500 win streak in any game - so even he knows Nurse needs a nerf.
Nurse was my main killer and in the last week after always denying this, I have had to admit that she does need some kind of nerf as even noobs are destroying on her in solo queue.
Their ground up re-code to fix her made her too easy to play against the average survivor and sadly I cant really argue that Sally doesn't need a nerf as the situation is getting a bit ridiculous.
-
Problem is the PS4 is very underpowered by modern standards and I don't know how much optimisation they can do to improve that in 2022
-
I have enjoyed the event for the most part, as survivor it is great they made doing the objective part of earning the rewards so team mates don't throw every match by wasting time doing stupid ######### to earn BP. I think they thought this one out a lot better than previous events
-
Nurse has counterplay but as a Nurse main (though I don't play her now as just feel bad) it pains me to have to finally admit she needs a serious nerf.
BHVR totally recoding her fixed pretty much all of the issues that made her hard to play, so now in the hands of relatively inexperienced players she can destroy solo lobbies.
Sure good survivors will always give Nurse a hard time and I am pretty decent at countering them myself. But I only play solo and when I see people with very few hours in DBD destroying my random team mates over and over... yeah something has to give.
-
I have realised the MMR in this game is very loose and it will maybe match you with the closest it can find and failing that it will just match you with anyone at all.
Honestly while it is not ideal, I don't miss the old days of playing too much after rank reset and getting to rank 1 then struggling to find any games, to the point you have to intentionally throw to de-rank so you can find matches (no I am not a god player, just played a lot lol).
-
I don't think it should tbh, I am finding a lot of killers run very oppressive multiple slowdown builds these days and it can make solo queue a bit miserable. Pop was really strong before the nerf and adding that to the list of oppressive gen control builds would be very unwelcome
-
It was really bad before EGC even existed, obnoxious survivors could hold you in the game by hiding for literally hours (though I never got hijacked for hours).
If they don't leave I just pretty much go AFK and I suggest you do not bother going to the exit so they can teabag you like 5 year olds. Just let the EGC force them out and they can waste their time at the exit
-
Some matches I am honestly grateful a team mate DC's or gives up first hook as it means I can just go next too. But we all saw the DC apocalypse from the last week when penalties were disabled and it was an absolute mess.
The only good match I had with DC's was where a Weseker decided to camp and relentlessly tunnel a poor Feng off first hook at 5 gens. We all just noped at pretty much the same time and told him to go bite rocks and play by himself if he cant play nice lol
NOT condoning DC's but not gonna lie that one felt good
-
Trickster and Pinhead are the worst, Twins are unfun for how their design forces a slug and camp the slug playstyle.
Legion is quite annoying too but honestly I find Trickster spamming knives and Pinheads chains so obnoxious I just want to go next and I would rather wait in queue longer than have to play against them if I could block certain killers.
-
A similar problem happened with PUBG ironically, along with a ton of cheating that came with it.
The problem is games like PUBG and DBD are not permitted by the CCP, so they literally have to use a VPN otherwise they cannot play. What is the solution? I really don't know as the CCP are not likely to change their minds on this so it leaves people in mainland China no other option but a VPN
-

It took me a while to figure it out, PUBG's menus are not particularly intuitive IMO and the way the event works isn't either.
You have to open a website tied to the event and leave it open in the background while you play a match and then once you're done there is a buttom to redeem a code underneath a picture of Dwight lower down on the wesbite. I ended up having to play two matches though because the first time didn't seem to work for me.
Idk it's really weird.
@jesterkind said:

Short version: Open the browser tab for the event from PUBG's main menu and play a match, you'll then have the option to redeem the code for the Dwight skin.
It's kinda weird.
Okay thank you both, that makes sense now.
-
Yeah it is janky to say the least, I feel they should have at least had things like gens and skill checks be the same as DBD. I only played one survivor match as I just wanted the cosmetic but it was confusing how to even redeem that and I couldn't be bothered. I will fire up PUBG again and try to figure out how to actually get the cosmetic though... (cant say no to free stuff)
-
I find a lot of solo random team mates don't seem to understand the concept of taking a hook state being a strong strategy to avoid your team mate on death hook going down.
I get it though, I used to think it was a good thing that the killer never even hooked me and if everyone escapes it sure is. But other than hard tunnelling sometimes you obviously need to take a hook
-
I have kinda given up with 100% completion on Steam as there are killers I am unlikely to ever play let alone to the point I can get adept.
So far the hardest for me has been Myers... he has zero pressure early game and using his power results in not enough chase points. No gen control with a slow early game was just painful... I got it in the end with Scratched Mirror on Lery's but boy it was rough
-
@Tsulan said:

Exactly! Even saw 100% bonus for killers a couple of times since the event started.
So no indicator that "all survivors left"
Lmao... yes that claim is laughable at best.
Survivor can be a lot harder now, particularly solo survivor (which is mostly all I play) but I have been enjoying the shake up of the stale old meta for survivor. But I will jump onto killer when there is a 100% bonus... it just doesn't happen much like you say
-
It cant continue indefinitely, there are already an absurd number of perks and addons to have to understand if you want to use or counterplay them. It makes the cost of entry for new players pretty insane too and it locks them out of challenges etc that require specific perks/survivors/killers they probably wont own
It would seem they realise this as they are monetising the game in various ways, some not so popular ways too.
-
@Tsulan said:

Oh i would have never guessed that the incentives would work so well. They are the best thing ever to help with queues.
Now on why survivors dc so often... There really don´t seems to be a pattern. I´ve seen my teammates suicide/dc even against the weakest killers that didn´t camp or tunnel or used full slowdowns. It seems that some people just "play" to ruin everyone elses fun by ending the match prematurely.
Now, what we need to help with that is what the mobile version of DbD already has: Bots + prevent survivors from suiciding. Those 2 things would greatly improve the game experience for everyone else.
Yes I agree, while Bots are not ideal they are better than nothing at all. I suspect we will probably see that at some point as clearly they have the coding for bots already there
-

Before that "massive and unnecessary" killer buff, survivors had queues of 5-15 minutes though. So in your own words, survivors were on their way to hour long queues.
Also its not like survivors haven´t received massive buffs since then.
Survivor queues were horrific before killers got a much needed buff.
I think now they perhaps need to look at things such as killers like Nurse or Blight running full slowdown builds and of course problematic addons we all know.
But otherwise the fact I can get survivor games instantly now says a lot
-
If there was a way we could choose to not play against certain killers that would help but the problem is Nurses and Blights would probably never get games.
I know for me personally there is nothing worse than loading in and hearing Twins or Pinhead etc but I don't really get a choice of what match I am throw into. The choice is queue up for matches you may not want to play or simply don't play at all. Of course there are also people who will just DC no matter what and that just adds to the problem of how to make it so people don't want to DC
-
Each to their own but boy I was thrilled when that map got killed off. Hated it with a passion personally and hope it never comes back
-
I think survivor is mostly okay, just the high amount of tunnelling off hook and camping at 5 gens is what ruins the fun for me.
The game may be a lot fairer for killers now but I still find that killer is incredibly frustrating most of the time. Nurse is my main killer but I would like to play killers like Trapper etc but the game feels rough for M1 killers and it puts me off playing them. SWF makes it feel unfair at times due to how they can coordinate and make matches really unfun
-
It is a big change from this time last year where nobody wanted to play killer and survivor queues were insanely long.
I want to get some challenges done but the queues for killer are so bad I can't be bothered, plus matchmaking incentives only seem to be on for survivor lately so I go with that. I personally am happy that the game is more balanced than it was before, as it was far too survivor sided and playing killer was miserable.
What is ruining survivor is the annoyingly high number of killers who resort to tunnelling and camping even at 5 gens. It is making playing solo survivor increasingly frustrating and I see why people either SWF or just play killer. Hopefully they can make more changes in the future to even more heavily discourage these unfun tactics as they really are killing the fun

I don't necessarily disagree, but that's not why I responded tongue 'n cheek to OP. He has a thread history that reeks of critical misunderstandings, false equivocations, and honestly just pedantic nonsense.
I'm a Database Admin, when I see apples to oranges, I have to call it out. This guy just does it too frequently for me to even want to keep up with.
If it makes you feel better, I use one gen regression perk on Nurse. But as long as SWFs can slammajam gens and W the moment they hear a terror radius so that you're stuck blinking across the entire map to get into a chase you are going to see Nurses that feel like they need to play with more.
Ah okay, I have no context of post history but with some added... yeah fair enough then.
