So, since skins released in a Rift come out in the store later the whole Rift is pointless? What reasoning is that? Buying a Rift is much cheaper than buying the skins from the store when they come out..
I bought 1100 Auric Cells in November 2019. I managed (for now) to unlock 8 Rifts with those, and the 9th is on the way.
1100 Auric Cells. For all the cosmetics included in 8 premium Rift tracks. It's the same price of a single outfit in the store.
Plus ehy, don't like the Rift? Don't do it, noone forces you to. Feel free to grind the same amount of playtime required to finish the Rift in order to be able to buy 1 outfit with Shards.

He's still needs 12 (or is it 14?) blades to down instead of 2 shots.
Right, but Huntress has 5 ammunition, is 77% while charging an hatchet and goes in "cooldown" after every shot, while Trickster has 44 ammunition, is 96,5% while throwing and shoots full auto
Don't compare them, just don't, they're different powers
And 1% speed in DBD is not something to dismiss like ######### (remember, it's still a brown add on)

I never said it wasn't a me problem. But I can ask right? Right? I mean it's better to as than just sit there and wonder what would happen if I didn't. It's like a party. It's better to go and not have fun than have this awful feeling just sitting there wondering if you would've had fun if you did go.
Is asking fine? Yes
Demanding like it sounds you did in the post? No
Maybe you worded it slightly wrong, maybe I misunderstood the tone, but that's the impression I got from reading it
Anyway, BHVR answered, so no poin in arguing about it further, right? :)

"Well ok, it's on sale, you can buy it at 50% right now"
"I don't have the money, give it to me for free"
"..why would I do that?"
"Because I want it but I don't have the money to pay for it"
"Sir, this is not a charity"
I mean..the fact that YOU want it but YOU don't have the money for it sounds like a "you" problem, given that it is completely optional content

Wouldn't it work if you create a new post and the first person to respond to it gets the code sent to them in private?
You could then delete the post so it doesn't clog up the front page
It works more or less like that on Discord, first one to react to a bot wins the code and he gets a DM with it

It shouldn't happen so often that it needs to be addressed? I had an afk teammate just today and despite our best efforts, we lost the 3vs1. So there's that.
And the average length of a game is 10 - 15 minutes compared to league's 28 minutes. It's still a long, frustrating time to have an afk teammate.
And the biggest problem is queue times? Games start pretty darn quick for me (less then a minute), survivor or killer, so idk where you're getting that. There's 55k people playing right now on steam.
This big issue could be solved by the devs with a small, quick fix so I don't know why you're so against it. But I've said all i have to say.
I know better than to post and argue with people here but i just don't feel like keeping quiet about an issue that is just so easy to fix.
It doesn't happen often to have people that are afk for the whole match, or at least not in my experience, say what you want
So matches in LoL last twice as much as DbD matches in average, and that's not a significant difference?
If queue times are quick as you say, it should be hard for an emergency to occur exactly in that 1 minute of the pregame lobby, so it's not worth the effort to MAYBE kick someone who had an emergency once in a while, while giving trolls a feature to delay other peoples queues for free
It's not a big issue as you like to make it seems (seriously, #########?), and it's only an "easy" fix if you don't think about the implications that come with it, first that comes to mind is how to manage SWF, do you kick the whole team if one is afk? Should they have a shared Ready button? Or do you kick only one of the guys in the team? Do you think the other members of the SWF would be fine with playing without someone on their team?

You argue that the other people are being punished by waiting for someone who isn't afk. They are actually being rewarded by not having an afk teammate in their game. Having an afk teammate would make their game a miserable experience and waste much more than 1 minute of their time.
In response to your solution.. people don't go afk for long periods of time on purpose. It's usually because they got distracted (important phone call, someone at the door, urgent bathroom emergency, idk, anything that life could throw at you). So telling people, "don't do that" isn't going to work.
Let's look at League of Legends. First, you need to queue up and press 'accept' when the screen pops up. Then, if you don't select a champ before time runs out, you get kicked and people have waited around 5 minutes by then. So we don't have it so bad at 1 minute.
So, what I'm saying is that situations where people are afk are going to happen no matter what, unless of course there is some system in place to stop it.
I'm making this argument despite me being the one who was afk. That's how annoyed i was that this game didn't just kick me. It bothers me that there's a second 'ready' button that obviously doesn't function like a 'ready' button. A 'ready' button that readies up for you is just as useful as Hearthstone's estimated queue time that changes itself as time goes by. It's always going to be correct if it corrects itself. Anyway, you get the idea.
One solution would be for the client to pop up in front of anything else you're currently doing on the computer when the game is about to start, just like League.
Another would be to have the 1 minute timer be reduced to 30 or 45 seconds and to kick people who aren't ready, either at 5 seconds or 0, while allowing new people to join afterwards with the timer reset.
Or both solutions combined.
It's usually because they got distracted (important phone call, someone at the door, urgent bathroom emergency, idk, anything that life could throw at you). So telling people, "don't do that" isn't going to work.
Good, you answered the question I didn't ask you yet. If this is the situation you find yourself in, it shouldn't happen so often that it needs to be addressed by the game developers
Comparing LoL and DbD isn't going to work, LoL has a much higher average match time, and having one afk teammate in that is going to waste a lot more time, so it could be fine to wait a bit more to be sure noone is afk
The biggest problem is DbD (apart from balancing) is queue times, and kicking people would make it worse
A pop up when the game is starting would help, yes, so nothing against that

I think we got some good ones this year. The nemesis one is extremely cool, i think its one of the more unique blight skins we got. The pyramid head one is also kinda cool, if a little generic. I'm uh.... not so sure about the doc one. I think its cool and all, but it really doesn't feel like it fits in this game. Its aesthetically strange compared to everything else we've got. The mikaela one is by far my favorite, i've been waiting years to finally get a witch costume and its a dream come true, i really like it. How about you guys?
Nemesis and PH: Nice skins but will never buy them since they are auric cells only (licenses π)
Mikaela: Ok skin, at least it is more "witchy" than her default
Doctor: I like it, the pieces go well with the blighted doctor we already have
I'm worried that blighted skins will never be earnable through the event again, I hope this is not the case

I don't see why you're so upset. I often encounter afk survivors and killers. All i did was offer up a solution.
You're imaginary scenario doesn't make sense since not everyone that joins afterwards will also be afk.
So before calling my idea bad, give me a valid reason why and maybe even a possible solution if you're feeling up to it.
I'm not upset at all, I'm explaining my points and why the Ready button works like that
Of course, sooner or later someone who is not afk will join, but why should the other 4 person be punished by waiting more to play because of them?
The possible solution is simple, and everyone already told you: don't queue up and then go afk for long periods of time
Heck, between finding a match, the 1 minute timer, the offering screen and the loading you should be fine even if you simply check on the game every 1 or 2 minutes
-
I noticed that it only happens with challenges from the Halloween tome, so far it didn't happen for the regular tome challenges
-
1. Bring a Dull or Skeleton key
2. Find hatch
3. GG, you escaped
StRaTeGy
I agree that Hatch was overnerfed and it should spawn even when 5 gens are done, but having it always visible is completely wrong
-
There are a few, but mainly on the killer side, if I have to choose a survivor it's Feng
Best killers imo are Blight, Doctor, Hag and Trapper
Trapper I love it because of how clean it is, and it's been the first Halloween skin I bought

Now that we've seen the whole Rift, what are your thoughts on the Halloween Event this year? I know last year's was....disappointing to say the least.
Personally, if we are only getting two events per year (Halloween and Anniversary) then consider me extremely disappointed in the quality of both events.
But, how do you like the Event this year?
It's better than last year's event or the Anniversary event for sure
The problems I have with it is:
- Tangled generators give you bonus bloodpoints only if you were working directly on it, meaning that even if I bring an event offering, the other survivors might say "######### you" and complete the tangled gens without me getting any value from my offering
- Having 1 special gen and 1 special hook by default is nice, but the number could be bumped up to at least 2 I think
- The special time limited Halloween tome doesn't really feel like a special tome apart from the fact that you earn skins directly from it
- They didn't recycle the Pustula Petals offering from last year, what am I supposed to do with the leftover offerings?
I still prefer the 2018s events, where you had to earn a special currency to buy skins with.
This year they could have tied the currency to the pumpkin-smashing, like every time you kick a pumpkin you gain a pumpkin seed but oh well, guess I'll never complete my King of the Hooks Trapper or Foul Bile Doctor
Shame

Oh, yeah, I forgot you guys have a pre-game chat. I am a console pleb, so I am always awkwardly sitting there wondering why the hell they queued if they weren't ready. Ha ha ha... My bad.
Yeah it's a shame they won't add it to consoles as well
Everytime I try to say "Ehy guys, I have BT and We'll make it so let me unhook plz" and then I notice the little world icons I feel a little sad
Still, on console you can use that 1 minute timer to send PMs to the other survivors and try coordinating a bit
-

His idea would be good if the ready up timer was less than a minute (lets say 15 seconds) and it would actually speed up the process (as long as you don't have 4 afk) while avoiding afk players that queue up when they aren't ready. How is that bad? It would be a raw improvement...
Sure, reduce it to 15 seconds, now OP is definitely NEVER going to come back in time to play a match since from what they say they like to stay afk for the whole 1 minute timer, offering reveal screen AND loading screen (and I assume part of the queue time?)
Reducing it to 15 seconds would defeat the purpose of the ready up timer
You'd have no way of coordinating based on what you see in the lobby (be it survivor items or the pre-game chat, don't forget that that is the only time solos can coordinate a little bit)
The real question is: why should BHVR cater to afk players? What's the benefit of that? Do we like the fact that people are going afk after queueing up?
-
@Caboose4 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2598617#Comment_2598617
What I'm suggesting is simple. The timer should count down to 0 whether or not a person is ready. The people who aren't ready are kicked, allowing new players to join. That's it.
Is that your "good point"? That's a (bad) suggestion..
What you don't understand is that you shouldn't be in the queue in the first place if you're not ready to play, so it doesn't make sense to implement something like that
The countdown before the game starts is there to give players a bit of time to either coordinate with the rest of the team, or prepare a counter to what they see in the lobby
Imagine what would happen if they catered to people like you who click READY and then go elsewhere:
The other 4 players would join a lobby, stare at their screen for 1 minute waiting for the countdown to end, suddenly the 5th person is kicked out and they have to wait until someone else joins the lobby
Now imagine that the "someone else" that joins is again someone afk, and they get kicked out after another minute, all while the other 4 people are there, waiting
And so on, it could go on forever
Why should the 4 people who are ready to play wait longer because someone who is NOT READY decided to queue up to play?
-
@Caboose4 said:
I like how most people commenting just avoid my good points just to say, "don't start a game if you're not ready."
And for the people saying it's to avoid trolling, kicking the people who aren't ready would have the same effect as them unreadying in order to troll, only they're gone now. There honestly shouldn't be a 1 minute wait anyway. You have all the time in the world to choose your perks and stuff before starting a game.
Sorry, what are your good points again? I didn't see any good points in the post sincerely
You see, the only way people can troll right now is by leaving the lobby when 16 seconds are left, and you suggest making that a feature?
-
You know that before queueing up you need to click "READY", right?
Why did you queue up if you weren't ready to play?

Rifts are actually optional, but mandatory for players. The process of reaching level 70 seems too difficult. Of course, there is an easy and simple way to pass through the gold cell, but it becomes a huge burden if you keep paying. I think we should either increase the rewards by increasing the Rift quests, or adjust the experience given per game in pure games to be higher. Do developers really read forum posts?
They already improved on how fast you progress through the Rift, and it's really easy especially considering you get 600xp bonus every day if you play 1 killer and 1 survivor match
Before you needed 800xp to gain 1 rift fragment, and you'd only gain 10 fragment for each tome level you completed
Now you need 500xp and the amount of fragments you earn at the end of each level is increased based on the tome level you completed (10- 15 - 20 - 25)
It's in a good spot if you ask me, considering that if the Rift were easier to complete they would probably lower the quality or quantity of the Rift rewards

Of course you can, I'm not saying you don't have the right to complain, and I even agree with you, skins in DBD cost way too much
But as long as people buy them, from the perspective of BHVR it means that the price is fair for the market
-

Yeah I only buy stuff for my favorites as well. The only stuff I buy anymore are chapters, some rifts AFTER I already complete it, and skins for my favorite licensed characters. For example. I recently had 1500 auric cells saved up, so I bought the $10 auric cells and got the last rift after I already completed it and then got the cells back from it, then I bought the Pretty Woman, walkin' downn the street, Pretty Woman! Skin with the 2500 I had on Leatherface because I love Leatherface and the outfit. Then I saved those cells all the way until yesterday and used them to buy James since I love James. I also spent an extra $10 for the PH skin and tomorrow I am buying the Nemesis skin. Even when I kinda managed my cells to spent less it still is gonna be a ton of damn money.
See, you say the skins cost too much, that it is outrageous how much they cost, they they are not worth it, and yet..you buy them.
What does BHVR understand from this? People are buying the skins even if they are completely optional and totally not necessary to play the game, the price they chose must be a fair price for the market.

a reason is why something cannot be done you would like to do an excuse is what you give when you get caught. Mobile is not a reason in my eyes.
I would welcome more knowledge about it excluding my fellow peanuts from the gallery.
On DBD mobile, items and offering are shared among characters, so giving 5 halloween flashlights as a reward, for example, could make sense
If they were to give the same rewards on the PC version, which survivor would get the 5 flashlights? All the survivors you own? Does it mean that if I own more survivors than you do I get rewarded more than you? Why aren't killer players getting rewarded like survivors do for the 750k sacrifices they had to work towards?
Plus, on the main game we already have the 2 skins they are giving out on mobile

In early bloodwebs you have no choice, just take that perk.
And you see, that is where the problem stems
Because apparently when you take that perk, the very next bloodweb will have the very same perk at tier 2, so yeah, the solution you proposed doesn't really apply to the issue at hand, thus the pissed reaction of @anarchy753 π
@GoshJosh said:

-
@anarchy753 said:

Exactly. I'm honestly surprised because they've said so many times in the past when they rework perks that they want to decrease reliance on needing higher tiers of perks to be worth equipping them, so why am I being forced to level a bunch up when I absolutely don't want to use them? If perk tiers aren't important then the priority should be giving us as many different perks early on as possible. Once you get to 25+ where there's a choice, then they can be split between new perks and higher tiers and it would make sense as a decision.
I totally agree
I'd understand if it was from level 25 onward since you at least have the choice between 2 perks, but having it behave like that consistently means you either have to give up 1 perk to the entity (if it even consumes it), or throw away 2 bloodweb levels for it
-
Good
I'm not crazy
I tried to explain to a friend of mine what kept happening in the bloodweb and he said it was just RNG, but at some point you have to admit, RNG shouldn't be this consistent
Something changed at some point: I can compare characters I didn't level up for a VERY long time with newish ones and the difference is very obvious, new characters usually only have 2 pages of perks, which is not a lot tbh

No
Red ranks players have more time to play, that's it
You can't lose ranks anymore, so it's literally impossible to go back from iridescent rank 4 to gold rank 1, for example
If you play enough in a month, you'll hit iridescent 1, no matter how well you play

That is how the world works
For example, if you go to a McDonald's in Russia and buy a burger, you'll pay less than what you would have paid for the same exact burger in Israel.
If you get employed in Russia, you'll find that your pay is lower than what it would have been in Israel for the same exact job.

Some people waste more time running in a straight line than trying to loop. So BHVR is still incorrect.
What the video should have said is (condensed):
Depending on your surroundings, make use of the environment by dropping pallets and vaulting windows or simply run as far from the killer as possible.
^ Not a perfect description but you get the idea.
The very next thing they say after the sentence you are complaining about is "Create separation by vaulting through windows." and the one after that is "Drop pallets to block the killer's path. Time it just right to stun them, allowing you to create even more distance"
Sounds pretty good to me, what's the difference with what you suggested?

Fair enough. I vaguely recall hearing at one point that they wouldn't be able to adjust Demo since they didn't own the license anymore. That helps on the gameplay front, but the elitism issue remains.
It won't be the best for new players to go against a Demo knowing they will never be able to try that killer for themselves.
the elitism issue remains.
For that there is no solution since they can't make demo, steve and nancy free
The only two ways to remove "elitism" would be to remove them from the game (no thanks, I'd like to keep characters I paid for) or to give them free to everyone, but I guess Netflix would be slightly upset in that case

Well, you could say it is funny, because the rights to the Hellraiser franchise belongs to Clive Barker since 2020 (and maybe his company, if he has one).
So I can bravely say: The "not talking" about it is bullshit, or BHVR is really bad in making contracts.
Explain me: If it is stated, that Pinheads voice cant be used, why adding them in the PTB.
I think, Clive told BHVR to remove the voice, and BHVR followed his order like a dog. They did the same to Demo/stranger things...
Just my opinion...

Because following orders like a dog is what you're forced to do when working with a license holder
Unless you want to lose the license, remove the characters from your game altogether and probably pay a fine, of course
