I watched Knightlight the other day and didn't see that stretching the resolution was doing anything like that. If it actually does then yeah, that is not okay. If it only stretches the models (like in fps games) I don't see anything wrong with that.

If it was just a stretch to screen like whats typical of games, there would be no problem. What ends up happening in DBD however is people are lowering their resolution to like 800 X 600 which ends up cutting the X axis abit shorter but extends the Y axis. All of a sudden the short killer being looped around a hay barrel or something that would normally be short enough to avoid being seen...can be seen.

Yes! They should be banned for using stretched resolution! How dare they stretch their FOV for little to no advantage...

Actually, stretched resolution in DBD is doing more than just stretching the image provided. Often times you're able to see OVER walls and such that you normally wouldn't be able to.

    Yep.

Heat not going up when you're not holding the button is a massive, massive reversion. That was a big part of almost all the complaints regarding the heat mechanic, because even a little feathering was a huge heat gain.

Also keep in mind the heat buildup when your 99% a saw. Your pressing the button on and off, so if half of that now causes your saw to cooldown rather than heatup... Thats gonna be a big difference.

  • @LordRegal said:

I'm frustrated they didn't say a word about the add ons, because that was one of the two major problems...but I'm tentatively ok with the changes to the heating mechanic. I still vaguely feel as though it'll be too punishing in large maps where traversal takes a good while even with the chainsaw, but it's certainly a lot better than what the PTB had.

It doesnt seem like traversal was really where alot of the heat was being generated. The problem mostly was in how slow it was to get rid of heat, so with them cranking up the cooldown rate and making it cooldown sooner... This might be the sweet spot.

  • @Blueberry said:

Tbh the changes to overheat they did seem pretty significant. I'd wait and test it first.

Wish we had these kind of changes on killers and perks from other PTB's.

Was thinking the same thing. The changes might be significant enough to allow him to be played more comfortably.

Im basing the gen situation off the location of the 2 hooks, the missing distortion tokens and the full medkit (which implies OP probably hasnt been in a chase). Based off that, its very likely OP has been far away from where the hooks have been happening and if theyve actually been keeping busy... Theyve probably been acting as gen jocky on this side while the rest of the team has been getting WRECKED. The map is Oni's version of Yamaoka estate, meaning the hook furthest away is on the very opposite side of the map while the one with Kindred is hooked next to the main building with the Deathslinger currently standing on the main building. I'm just going off clues from what I see and the most likely of situations given the amount of time OP has had to work with considering they havent been chased.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Yes, but you can't keep your teammates from making misplays. The OP could have intended to make the save and an injured teammate decided to try it before they could instead. That's my point. We could sit here all day and try to say what should have been done. But without alot more information it's impossible to say.

If OP was gonna go for the save, he'd be abit closer than the literal furthest he could possibly be on the map. You cant get much further away from those hooks without hacking your way through the wall. Lets say your right though and OP played everything perfect and his teammates were just over-altruistic and were SO bad they put themselves on hooks... Whats the killer suppose to do from here? Exactly whats his next move suppose to be other than to look for the last person in the most likely of areas from a vantage point once their aura reading perk has failed to give them a clue? You say they should "let OP unhook" but thats (once again) LITERALLY telling them to go to the furthest corner of the map rather than nearby gens/area where ironically enough, theyd find OP, lol.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443696#Comment_1443696

It's also entirely possible the first one hooked had Kindred. The other survivor was closer and went for the unhook. Was already injured and got caught. We can spin theories back and forth all day. But neither of us know what exactly happened in this match. I'm not saying either the killer or the OP did anything wrong.

My only point has been that I don't believe you understood the OP's point. And given the photo they took I can see why. Especially given that, at least from what have been able to tell you seem to play more killer than survivor.

If the other survivor was already injured, then its clear which one should be the one going for the save... OP is healthy and judging by the full medkit has been staying away from the action the entire match.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443696#Comment_1443696

I agree, the moment the 2nd survivor gets injured, you stop doing gens and get in position to rescue someone.

However, on the other side of that. Deathslinger is one of the worse killers to proxy camp. It's absolutely annoying and unfun. His terror radius needs to be adjusted to 32 meters, there's absolutely no reason he should have a 24 meter terror radius with a ranged attack. It encourages proxy camping.

Its because of his speed. Every 110% movement speed killer has reduced TR and really, Deathslinger is no better at camping than any of the others.

I'm gonna save them up for double BP events now. That's when people are more likely to use party streamers too I've seen in the past.

Considering how the math works, it really doesnt matter WHEN you use them.If you wanna use them all at once or sprinkled throughout the year...the total BP gain will be the exact same.

  • Just takes practice to know when its appropriate to stalk as opposed to getting hits and how you should position yourself for both. Also helps to have an actual loadout rather than just the teachables.

Pictures take a little longer to grab on console. But yes they could do what you described. However, at least in my experience nearly every Deathslinger plays like this.

Also I'm not asking them to do anything. I'm saying what I would do. Of course there's no guarantee they will save if you leave. But it's a guarantee they won't if you don't. If they don't save I have a head start looking for them. If they do I get more points. For me leaving better suits my goals.

As for the OP's priorities, what else would you like them to do? They have two options. Try for a pair of yolo saves when the killer can see them coming from a mile away. Or work a gen and get some points. Letting their team die isn't preferable, and depending on how that match had gone I'd probably try to save. But I also understand not feeding the camper regardless of if the camping is justified.

I dont think this was console, otherwise OP wouldnt be able to take a picture WHILE working on the gen if they had to go through a menu. As for what I would do...Lets back track real quick. Theres 3 survivors left, 1 guy gets hooked. Lets give him the benifit of the doubt and think the first guy hooked WASNT the one with kindred so OP didnt know where his other teammate was. The moment his other teammate took damage and it became clear he was being chased, OP shouldve been moving for the save. Its real easy to wait til things are completely out of hand to stop and go "Well what else am I suppose to do NOW" when the time to act is already over. OP turned this into a hatch game by not prioritizing a save when it mattered. Since it IS a hatch game, doing that gen will only give away their position. The only smart thing to do at this point is to wait til they both die while standing away from things like gens.

Now, I'm gonna present you a similar question. You're the Deathslinger. You down and hook one guy, then get into another chase and manage to hook another guy. You have 4 gens on the side of the map your at and 1 in the far corner. What do you do now exactly? Judging by the bars under the names, its been about 30 seconds since your last hook. Thats enough time to verify at least the gens on your side of the map are still sparking.

  • 497 atm spread across my killers. Have afew on survivor but dont play them too much. Wonder how many ppl are gonna use them after the event as opposed to hoard them.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443569#Comment_1443569

I get that. But if the OP had time to snap that pic he was on that hill for a while. Personally I'd have used the hill to see if I could spot them then move on. Yes he'd be blindly searching. But again from my perspective I want the points. He's not in any real danger of losing. I'm not saying he's playing it wrong. I just care more about points than securing the sacrifice.

It takes like 1 second to snap a picture. You just hit F12. If thats all it takes, I could put on kindred and hit the button after EVERY hook to claim its camping. What your asking the killer to do is basically to stand in a corner, and even then... We clearly see OP has poor priorities so they probably STILL wouldnt save. This gen the OP is on is very likely the only gen remaining on this half of the map.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443548#Comment_1443548

Like I said, they didn't pick a good picture to convey their point. Personally I disagree with the Deathslingers choice though. It might be the most efficient play. But in the situation above i would want them to get saved. I have one dead with 3 gens to go. I'm clearly in control and want to secure more points in that situation.

I get that, but you cant expect the killer to assume the player is doing the worst thing possible either. The Deathslinger got up on a hill trying to spot the last target because their BBQ hasnt told em anything on where OP was and unless they have Whispers... Theyd be searching the map blindly on a very bush dense map to begin with.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443006#Comment_1443006

Yes, they picked a poor picture to represent their point. Unless I've deeply misunderstood what they were trying to convey. Based on the picture the OP provided I would say the killer is making the correct play. But that looks like nearly every Deathslinger match I have. Regardless of how many survivors are left. Or gens there are to go.

From what I'm seeing, OP working on that gen is so low on the list of priorities, theyd be better off hiding in a locker than actually popping it. Theyre the only ones left so unless they plan on letting their teammates die, they need to get moving. If they DO plan on letting their teammates die for hatch, announcing their location is the worst thing you can do. With all this in mind...you can't expect the killer to go across the map to check the gen in the corner. Theres really nothing in this picture that suggests the killer was playing cheap at all and looks very likely that OP was just popping gens in the furthest end of the map while basically every other player was on the other side.

I said that to make myself see it from someone else's perspective. They don't know I have Red Herring, so all they see is someone jumping in a locker every so often. From my end I'm making the killer patrol my generator a lot more than the other two, so I'm doing my job. But someone who gets caught out and hooked sees me working on a gen for a few seconds, and then running into a locker to pull the killer away from them. They don't think "oh they have Red Herring," they think, "Ugh are they even trying?" Which is unfortunate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443281#Comment_1443281

It works a lot better with Quick and Quiet with the build, but anything works, really. I always recommend jumping in a locker far away from the generator though. If you find one that the killer has to pass in order to get to it, you get the satisfaction of knowing the killer fell for your distraction, but definitely don't stick around because killers can get a little paranoid or catch on that you're messing with them.

I get what your THINKING your doing. I'm just saying the very real possibility of what the actual benefits could be by comparing it to a guy with a flashlight who is gonna remember that 1 flashlight save he got the entire game and think that was DEFINITELY worth following chases for 5 minutes. Your perk isnt forcing you into a locker unnecessarily just like the flashlight isnt forcing anyone off a gen and following the killer for 5 minutes. The idea here is to use them when the opportunity actually presents itself rather than trying to force the situation. If someone just happens to go down near ya and you got a flashlight...go for the blind. See what I'm getting at here?

  • The moment when you realize that its NOT the end of the world if the last guy gets away is the moment when you'll be alot less stressed out. If you actually know where someone is, go ahead and slug for the 4k and go get em. If you have no CLUE where the last guy is though... stop stressing and just hook the guy ya got. Its really not that big of a deal.

  • @Terra92 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1443036#Comment_1443036

I have learned that Red Herring gains more usefulness as the game goes on. Early game it can be used to bring a killer to your side of the field, but early game you're either with all your teammates or you have no idea where they are--they could be on the other side of the map, or they could all be doing the gen right next to you. But when there is only 3 or 4 gens left, you can start really messing with the Killer, getting them to go over to you more and more.

It's just unfortunate that players see "teammate jumps in a locker every minute" = "they're not doing anything." I wish distraction points were awarded for players who used distraction perks and actually got the killer to go to that area within a certain amount of time.

Sometimes thats just it though and players jumping in locker every minute IS doing nothing. It really comes down to if the oppertunity to use a perk actually presents itself vs trying to force it. Its like those times that you have players following around a chase with a flashlight in hopes of getting a sweet flashlight blind later. If they get even 1 blind all game, they now believe it was worth never touching a single gen.

@Rizzo90 @not_Queen @Peanits @MandyTalk Can one of you give this man the official thumbs up to continue?

  • Really it doesnt matter what perks you use as long as your able to contribute. Much of the complaints over various perks isnt that the perk is useless or weak, but in the way it often results in dead weight teammates. While perks like urban evasion for example arnt the bane of my existence, I tend to notice those players finding a bush anytime the killer is ANYWHERE nearby (I tend to have bond equiped), same goes for premonition. If premonition tells ya that the killer is infact on the map, its time to hide and wait for the perk to come off cooldown to see if its safe to come out. If your able to crank out gens and slink away when a killer ACTUALLY comes your way to waste abunch of time searching the area for you fruitlessly before kicking your gen and leaving... thats one thing. If you spend more time in a bush than being productive, thats the problem and there tends to be a correlation between players that remain super unproductive and certain perks.

  • Alot of times you'll see streamers putting on an act for the stream. I remember my first time watching EdgarAllenBro play a match as Doc...it was entertaining to say the least. It put on a sort of trash talking persona that was drastically different than the norm. You also have to keep in mind that since they ARE streaming, they cant just be silent the entire time and they also dont usually have the leisure to look at their chat, at least not when playing killer.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1442715#Comment_1442715

That's not the point the op is trying to make. The vast majority of Deathslingers, at least that I face play exactly like this. They proxy the area and wait for you to come to them. Even then they won't chase you. And most of them will run Monitor to avoid BT so they can immediately slug the unhook. Sadly I've yet to have a single enjoyable Deathslinger match.

The picture shows none of that though. All it DOES show is OP working on gens on the opposite side of the map from where the action is while distortion is hiding them from BBQ. Looks like the killer is standing on a hill trying to get an idea where the last survivor could be.

  • With 1 dead and 2 on hook next to each other, why should he both crossing to the opposite side of the map? You're clearly not gonna pop 3 gens before they die so the timer is on you, not him.

It's a projectile, not a hitscan. Also, it's as fast as a fully charged hatchet throw, but has a minuscule hitbox. Huntress can land a hit almost 1 meter away, while Deathslinger Can shoot at their finger and still miss. Don't move in a complete straight line and most of the time, you'll be fine.

While its true that its a projectile, it still goes fast enough and with no charge time before it that its basically impossible to react to it. You have to predict when a deathslinger is going to shoot rather than react to anything. You compared it to Huntress's hatchets and while its true a fully charged hatchet is the same speed... Theres that whole windup and sound que before hand. Typically you're not trying to dodge that hatchet by reacting to it but rather utilizing your faster speed to build distance while putting trees and such inbetween you and the Huntress.

It is useful for making it easier to see and keep track of survivors during fatigue but it's better to just use your ears for that. That's why I guess you could say I run Stridor in its place. It counters iron will and it's helped me find stealthy survivors nearby that I probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise. Sometimes I like to use metal spoon because it stacks with Stridor which is pretty cool.

    Stridor+metal spoon+jane...

Range plus recharge or double recharge are her best add-on builds. The former is omega blink 2.0, that I would label as strong and the second is essentially old basekit Nurse (just slightly nerfed), which I'd also call strong. That's about it.

    For ok-ish add-ons:

The spoon and the keepsake (aka perks in add-on form) are fine if you'd use the corresponding perk, but you'd also like free the slot.

Catatonic and especially ataxic are kinda nice as well and possibly a tad underrated. They only affect fatigue, so it's true you still have to wait for the blinks to recharge. However, despite obviously helping with tracking, you'd actually be surprised at how helpful they are at minimizing loss of distance.

Finally, the wooden horse is not bad for brown rarity. Despite being labelled as a beginner's add-on, it actually allows you to be quite liberal with your swings.

I'll keep these in mind. I've really only been playing with 1 addon at a time since FOR NOW, the plaid flannel is pretty much always on until I get the hang of my blink ranges.

  • @Endstille said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/171650/does-nurse-have-any-addons-youd-actually-consider-strong

Kavanaghs Last Breath + Fragile Wheeze a longer blink, quicker recovery. You can try both ranges but it takes too long for me personally to charge at least last I tried. Heavy Panting + Fragile Wheeze the same with little less distance.

Dark Cincture + Fragile Wheeze vanilla distance and very quick recovery

Matchbox + Spasmodic Breath ... memes? I really dislike the you get to walk fast addons because playing nurse is for blinking not walking.

That is what comes to mind, depends a little bit on what you prefer. Play around and you will find out what you like. Just do not use the, return to your previous position, blink forward upon pressing a button bs addons they are useless. If you have trouble adjusting to the blink, try the make survivors scream when you blink past them (no gurantees) that it works as i imagine but it should help to pay more attention.

Learn to flick and how to "cancel" blinks, use your blinks to look around. Also something that you should keep in mind, when you need to cover distance -> Charge blink, while you blink, charge the 2nd blink as it allows you to travel more distance compared to charge, blink, charge. At least it did.

Hope you have fun, i am jealous that you can play without bugs, fml.

I'll keep that last part in mind. The timing on my 2nd blink before it does the fatigue keeps screwing with me so I keep just doing shorter blinks with the 2nd one.

  • Technically yes, it takes longer to get a "full charge", but if your only trying to get to 10 meters lets say...it'll be the same amount of charge either way.

  • @Maelstrom10 said:

None of them are strong in the aspect of being broken or like too powerful

but she does have addons that modify her kit, and can make her situationally stronger or better

her fatigue/cooldown reducing addons are by far her strongest in the right hands, her longer blink addons are quite strong, however they make it slower to charge her blinks so it can throw off muscle memory a bit, yet they can be strong if you double stack them

her addon badmans last breath i believe, reduces terror radius to 0 (undetectable status effect) which is considerably stronger then people give her credit for, with it you are situationally able to counter out borrowed time every 60s and occasionaly get the jump on survivors who rely too heavily on terror radiuses. all round fun addon

also the addon that reverses your blink is actually very very good. if people double back on themselves you can easily utelize it to double back on them incredibly quickly to get a hit. also its just fun!

her addon that gives her a second half charged blink instantly after fully charging and releasing her first blink is also decently ok if you get good at using it, allows for slightly faster map traversal, and people don't usually expect an instant second blink, so you can catch up on people a lot faster even if your not always outright hitting them. paired with her recharge/fatigue addons this addon can become decently good, as you can double speed blink to catch up or catch someone out, and normal blink (just under fully charge the 1st blink) during chase.

The range addons shouldnt affect muscle memory actually since they more or less just give you the option of charging the blink longer to go further. If you wanna charge the blink for the same amount of time as you would without addons, you SHOULD go the same distance as normal.

Yeah I jump around a lot too, I just find her constant stun after using your power mechanic stifling and a lil annoying. I realise why its there as she would be crazy op without it but it breaks up the gameplay to much for me and I just can't get into it. Even when landing hits.

I dont really see it THAT bad when you compare it to the long pause after Demogorgon's Shred in which he cant even turn his camera, or PH's ranged attack. I do avoid SPAMMING blinks though and kinda just floating around til I got a good shot. The stun is longer the more blinks you use and whether or not you swing.

I like to jump around on killers to play with. Been playin alot of Demogorgon lately, and had afew Oni games earlier til I found out mid match that an Oni glitch that I THOUGHT got fixed...wasnt fixed. Nurse is just kinda the flavor of the day. I said "I didn't I was on my way to someone else and I just happened to see you" They said "I'm Claudette. The only way you could have seen me is if you were hacking REPORTED!!!!!!"

FOR THE 70TH TIME THIS THREAD, IT IS NOT REMOVING AUDIO. Good GOD people cannot read. It is removing the ability to tell which direction the audio is coming from, it still lets you determine how far, and that the sound is in fact there, but it doesn't instantly give away where they are.

All you'd have to do to test that is play without a headset and turn off the stereo sound on your TV. Play some matches as Spirit like that and see how it goes.

But you got me curious for whether it will be harder to get to rank 1! If so, it would be pretty cool to finish my first season at rank 1 nevertheless. Thanks for the motivation! :D

This is what I meant by "There is barely any matchmaking anyway". However, this is still a bad example, since it's a killer with only 1 perk / 4 survivors with 7 perks in total instead of 16. Not comparable in regard to my point above.

Even if everyone in these pics had full loadouts, its still an obvious indicator that the rank 20s are VASTLY mismatched.

  • While its true that rank doesnt mean EVERYTHING, its still a decent indicator.

You wouldnt look at these ranks and think the rank 20s COULD have a chance because rank doesnt mean anything.

I'm suggesting that, when survivors are running, mending slowly bleeds them. This way it pressures them more and helps legion fight gen-rushers.

I can't tell you how many times my ass has gotten omega gen rushed because of the cooldown duration of feral frenzy, combined with the fact that it takes forever to down survivors due to mending not doing its job really.

Lets say you're chasing a survivor, you hit them with frenzy, and they slowly start bleeding. After about 75 seconds they go down unless they mend. This will put more pressure on survivors. And even the odds.

This will make things such as Mend timer decrease add-ons much more useful, and give legion a more versatile set of abilities. In the games current state the Filthy blade, nasty blade, stab wounds study, franks mix tape, and scratched ruler are all useless add-ons that I bet no legion main uses unless they're meming. And since all of these add-ons are basically useless, it makes legion a very repetitive killer to play. Which is probably why you don't see him very often in live game anymore. On top of that, whenever you miss a hit with feral frenzy your power is completely lost which is a complete trash decision decided by the developers.

Some would say i'm advocating to make legion op again, but i'm really not. He's one of the worst killers in the game byfar, his chase time is #########, the majority of his personal perks are mostly useless, and he gets bullied in high-rank games. Just to have a chance at actually playing legion without getting shat on by rank 1s is the following

    1. Have hex ruin
    2. Have enduring
    3. Have pop goes the weasel
    4. have thanatophobia

Most of which are anti-gen rushing perks, some of which are locked behind a paywall where you have to grind 9000 shards and then spend about 1.5m bloodpoints to get teachables.

You see where i'm going with this? Legion is absolutely useless in his current state. He absolutely needs a rework. And I think i've stated what needs to be reworked. I really hope the devs listen to this post, I know they do care deeply about their game and want to see it grow and succeed. I haven't even mained legion that long and I already know that he absolutely needs a rework. Ghostface practically replaces him as a killer, so if a dev is reading this. Please consider what I have written above, thank you.

The problem with this is the first hit on Legion is basically a given. What your asking for is for the game to have a hard limit on how long a chase can last if you cant get that 2nd hit and for the game to just GIVE you a down after X amount of seconds. It doesnt matter how time inefficient this is, it just comes down to being completely unfair.

Dunno why legions power isn't just throwing another at a survivor in chase since there are 4 of them which would make them arguably more dangerous than some other killers because of teamwork even though they get high off the bloodlust and toy with their prey

So we're gonna yeet one survivor at one? lol

Survivors have to mend at some point. That wastes a lot of time. Could waste even more time if you run an anti-healing build and couple it with Ruin.

Anti-heal doesn't effect the mending, although your right that mending in general wastes more time than just normal injuries.
