  • I got Gen-grabbed fairly early on when i started playing this game by the spirit...scared the living ######### out of me. Now, every time i see that it's a spirit, with her phasing and such...INSTANT PTSD, lol.

  • Why is Spirit so low on the list and cannibal so high?

  • and this is an example of overusing the term "Toxic"

  • @Judith The thread title was a question about 2 sides

DO YOU AGREE THAT BOTH SIDES ARE EQUALLY TOXIC?

People answering your question with "No", listing which they consider MORESO and why goes along with the thread

  • @Shad03 for sure. Unfortunately my sarcastic tone doesnt carry through text too well.

  • Doesnt take 2 and a half years of experience to spot the hex totem 3 ft away from a gen, lol

  • @Shad03 nah, i was jk. People throw that word around for EVERYTHING. Like someone said earlier, hit someone on the hook? TOXIC. Threaten to murder someones whole family? TOXIC

  • Ill start off by saying...venting is healthy, and if thats ALL you wanted to do and not actually discuss anything...so be it

Ill also say though that Hex ruin isnt nearly as required as people make it out to be, and alot of the problem people have with survivors blowing through gens is they keep treating the game as if theyre facing survivors 1v1 in turns rather than 4v1.

First killer I got to rank 1 with was Freddy, and I didnt use Ruin on him either. I got really good at tagging multiple people with his ability, keeping track of their locations, identifying when I should leave one survivor mid-chase to harass another, ect. Doing this, I CONSTANTLY had multiple people injured, rather than just 1 guy at a time. Just food for thought.

  • I think it actually fits quite nicely on Lightweight. Afterall, if your light, youd naturally make less noise from falling. Which one are you going to hear if dropped off the 2nd story, a balloon or a bowling ball?

  • @IMhereRUN said:

There are no killers that can’t kill without add-ons, just learn to use them correctly. You can’t put 1 survivor to sleep as Freddy and engage in long loops pursuing 1 survivor...that’s no map pressure. You can’t chase down 1 killer add Legion, use his killer instinct ability. The clown? You can literally follow survivors on every loop and down then easy, his bottles (when used correctly) are the best anti-loop tool, no enduring, brutal strength, bamboozle, or spirit fury needed. Each killer is different, you must play them all differently.

@IMhereRUN who's chasing down killers? Thats some serious role reversal

  • not to mention the requirements to pip are different for ranks 4 and 5

  • Yeah, Ill definitely 2nd this right here. For all the ######### people give the devs, as well as anyone who works for BHVR in general... They really have built something special, and Its good to see members of the community actually being positive towards them for a change.

    Thanks guys @not_Queen @Peanits @Patricia @MandyTalk

Feel free to @ whoever else you can think of, its a group effort from EVERYONE to keep this ship floating afterall

  • I typically just look at the endgame chat when thinking of being toxic. Flashlight clicky click and T bagging can be considered strategy to throw your opponent off, sure...but trash talking after the game is over can in no way be considered strategy. Unfortunately I get way too many survivors complain about EVERYTHING in the endgame chat and your trash for doing it. Most recent was being called a "slugging gamer" because instead of stopping to hook the first guy I downed using Myers 60 seconds of T3, i managed to down the other 3 survivors I saw during that time as well.

Its not even a killer vs survivor thing either. Ive seen a survivor start bashing one of his own teammates that wasnt in his SWF squad for using urban evasion as soon as the endgame chat popped up because it "wasnt optimal". Its gotten to the point that if I see stuff like this, Ill try to chime in and offer some support to whoever is being hounded.

Thats not to say I havent seen a killer go out of their way to be a dick. I once had a plague vomit on me on the hook for 2 minutes straight after downing me first that match. Was CLEARLY trying to make me mad, and then blew up chat immediately after going about how mad i mustve been. While I was mildly annoyed, I dont typically bring items as a survivor so it was just whatever. These cases though are few and far between than the trashtalk and abuse I typically see coming from survivors, both toward the killer and their own teammates, in the endgame chat.

  • Honestly, handing out T1 myers lvl anti-tracking could actually be pretty nice on other stealth type killers while using their stealth abilities. Your right about many maps not giving any chance toward stealth manuvers though, or rather mindgames in general. I hate looping around waste high debris for example, because theres no point during the loop where the survivor loses sight of you, so its completely brainless. You just have to run in a circle until you eat a pallet and hope theres not alot more similar brainless pallets around.

  • @EntityDispleased judging by his post count, im pretty sure he JUST made this account to make the thread that got shut down, so i doubt he cares.

  • The ironic part is... This forum is generally at each others throats with killer vs survivor arguments, but... We can all band together just fine on THIS one, lol.

  • During his trial by combat, he'll just complain his opponent had mcdonalds wifi and wasnt up to his 1Gbs standard.

  • @se05239 while I agree many killers are way too addon dependant, cheap memes offer no content to a discussion at all. Its fluff with no value.

  • Why does anyone need to listen to another word when they can simply review the postings youve already said on the thread that was bad enough that a mod had to shut it down.

It would be similar to if someone is trying to plea innocent of a crime while a video is playing behind them of them commiting it

  • Dont need to "speak your side" when the entire thing is saved and available for everyone to read.

  • @Andreyu44 The change for survelance though WAS smart nd made it into quite the viable perk. The change to legion was needed for the health of the game as a whole and Ghostface is still being tested and tweeked.

  • This whole fun > viable meme needs to die already... Its just what happens when people take a line and pull it way out of context.

I feel like the problem with just randomly buffing things is that alot of killers are able to be quite competitive if using certain addons. I feel like a step like they did with pig's crouch should be a prime example for what they COULD do with these killers. By that, i mean they shifted power from an addon and moved it to the base kit.

While pig's crouch addon got weaker, the base crouch got stronger. This made the effect of pig USING the addon stay completely the same, but made it feel alot more comfortable when not using the addon at all. If we used this idea as a sort of base pattern... We can explore similar options on other killers

Currently, Clown has addons that increase the size of his gas cloud, how long survivors are affected by the cloud and how potent the slowing effect of the cloud is for example. If the base stats of the cloud were improved, you could nerf the addons that alter these stats to balance it out and make Clown not as dependent on the addons.

Pretty much a similar situation can occur for any killer whenever simple numbers can be altered

  • Alot of the gripes ppl are making about Ghostface has been noted already by the devs. This is the reason its a PTB ppl. Theyre actively taking notes and adjusting it so hes in a better position when its time to release him, or soon after. They KNOW he makes too much sound for a killer designed to be stealthy. They noted that problem, so lets see what they do about it. They KNOW its too easy to break him out of his power, and have already stated that its something else to work on.

Point being...stop being hyper critical about work in progress. Give your feedback about PTB material through the correct channels and give them time to adjust accordingly.

  • @not_Queen Make this a thing

  • @Boss while that honestly wouldnt be a bad idea if it wasnt for the sake of how alot of the map is procedural generated. My idea wouldve given the 30 seconds at the beginning of every match, no matter which perks are used. If you dont need 30 seconds, you could just push a ready button to end this time early.

also, please note that quoting my statements isnt a good way to let me know that youve said anything to me since I dont get a notice of it unless you @ me

  • @Boss What? you didnt know Pizza delivery was just a side gig for Dwight when he wasnt fixing spaceships for Nasa? Or that Jake was doing online classes at MIT while chilling in the woods? lol.

and all this without so much as needing a wrench. Just shove your hands in this engine and you can fix it no matter how much the killer hits it with a freaking sword.

  • @FireHazard while you make some good points, ive got afew disagreements. You mentioned OP addons for killers. Most of the red addons have serious dowsides to them.

    1. Infinite T3 Myers is only Infinite after he finally manages to activate it, while a myers without any addons would have already gotten to use their T3 at least twice already.
    2. Iri head removes the amount of available hatchets by 4. While this can be softened abit by using infintry belt with it, that also means your throwing them with the same charge speed as if you had no addons at all, giving the survivor your throwing at plenty of time to respond and find cover. Realisticly, if the huntress was skilled enough to beam you with a hatchet using those 2 addons, they probably wouldve done it just fine twice using charge speed addons instead since they open up more spots that you can get a hatchet primed to throw mid chase around loops.
    3. Clowns pinky finger requires him to peg you with a slow moving projectile and follow that up with a melee strike immediately after... Do I need to say more? Ill ggo more into this if you want.
    4. "instasaw" i feel is just a joke really using "insta" as a trigger work. At most, youre removing 36% of the charge rate by combining 2 charge addons. I didnt know a saw can be considered "insta" if its still got 64% of its charge time. Thats like saying anyone who heals with botony knowledge is "instahealing".

I wont go into the other red addons atm, but will if asked. I DO agree that prayer beads is BS though and needs to be looked at.

  • Would be nice if Killers had the ability to hide the totems themselves before the match started. Would be kinda reminiscent of adding furniture in The Sims. Give the killer maybe up to 30 seconds to choose totem spawns. Its really painful though when you spawn in and see that the bright burning ruin is 5 ft away from a Gen and within LOS of it. Other games, you load in and see its in an area that the survivors have no reason to go anywhere near...you just KNOW that totem is staying around.

  • @Mochan the problem is unless your using specific perks to detect her, your kinda gonna get boned by Gen grabs that cant be helped. Not every Gen is around corn or grass for you to notice movement. For instances like the game map, thats EVERY gen where you would constantly have the possibility of being yanked with no warning.

  • @Redd I completely understand this. The point of this thread isnt to discuss balance over the game, but rather just to have fun at the thought of if the logic in the game was done in the movies that inspired it. Also, the title is DBD logic in horror movies, not the other way around.

    Huh?!?!

Why on earth would anyone with any sense run Ruin on Freddy?!?!

Freddy is the one killer that absolutely doesn’t need Ruin if he’s played correctly.

@DudeDelicious agreed. Totems in general arnt that great for Freddy since his ability to protect them is pretty bad until his rework changes that. His power does do a good job on its own with slowing down the game and other non-totem perks, like PGTW, would probably be a better choice is you still want to run a "slow the game down" perk.

Jeff will not be getting a Jesus outfit sadly because BHVR does not express religion in their game, the Entity is the only thing close to religion, but I love my big man Jeff, strong man with a gold heart, I have him in his fancy suit with the young Jeff hair with the nose ring.

@ShrekIsHot you say that while the last killer we got was a priestess.

You forget that when people found out about Ghostface, bhvr was hyping it up as well as talking about big surprises that were in store. It would be easy to believe that maybe they were saving Sidney for a Big Reveal. AND there were debated spoilers for Woodsboro.

Not only that, but even if it was just Ghostface, we had every hope and reason to believe he was the Ghostface people know and love from Scream. Keep in mind Leatherface has an eponymous “chapter” title. Ghostface was also shown to mori using a PHONE (weird how it changes to a camera post oc reveal.) And Ghostface’s successful attack animation directly mirrors him wiping the knife after “stabbing” Billy.

Please do not condescend to Scream fans when Scream fans had every reason to believe Ghostface wouldn’t be a bargain bin knock off, a generic Oreo cookie that you know isn’t an actual Oreo.

@pemberley Just so were on the same page, which Ghostface are you refering to as "The Ghostface from Scream"? The franchise has had multiple characters don the mask. Unlike the franchises you listed which have 1 specific person in those roles, the people who donned the Ghostface mask in the Scream franchise are numerous. The Original film had 2 seperate killers wearing the mask while each sequal had completely new killers taking up the mantle.

I think the problem with this argument is that "The Ghostface" is just that, a mantle. It's not a character. The Pig from the saw franchise would be the closest comparison to this, since multiple people wore pig masks in that franchise as well. The key difference however is that Amanda was at least a reoccurring character throughout the Saw franchise, while the same cannot be said about any of the killers behind the Ghostface mask.

  • I love how you specifically give a list of 4 killers as options, and people still just pick whatever killer. Playing Freddy might be a good idea since you'll be able to build up a good assortment of addons and perks in preparation for his upcoming changes. I dunno what rank you typically play at though, since he can be quite addon dependant at high ranks, and if the goal is to collect addons instead of use em... Spirit is on of the best killers atm, so learning her is definitely not a bad idea. In my experience, playing legion is fairly constant, even without addons since most of his addons are rather minimal. If you wanna build BPs up without constantly worrying about replacing addons...Legion isnt a bad choice.

  • As Ba_tetsuo said, running her with perks befitting a generic M1 killer is the way to go since many times survivors simply wont bother healing against her. She IS a 115% killer, so not too shabby speed wise, but not being able to use half your power if the survivors simply dont let you can make her feel pretty boring and her height doesnt help you on mindgames.

Also, i wish people would stop picking on mah boi Freddy when making these comparisons. He was my go-to forever and actually the first killer i got to rank 1. Unfortunately alot of ppl treat him like hes an M1 killer with no redeeming qualities and just a big handicap. Thats how they play him, and then when they get stomped by the end of the match with that mentality, they assume they were right.

  • The killers who are running around safe pallets until they hit bloodlust 3 to make it an unsafe pallet are also already wasting ALOT of time doing so. Bloodlust in its current state is fine IMO. What you're describing sounds like a killer who wouldve untimately lost the game anyway. Even if he chooses to cheese chases by bloodlusting safe pallets until he can get a hit on them reguardless, the amount of time hes wasting, map pressure not being applied and pallets that are unused by this... would undoubtedly result in a loss, with maybe 1 kill.

In a typical game against a killer NOT just trying to meme you, the most you'll deal with is afew seconds of bloodlust 1 until they either break a pallet or hit a survivor, either for damage or a non-damaging ability (doctor shocks, clown bottles, ect).

  • @Tsulan your fine my man. Thanks for going back and rereading. What do you think about the idea though?

  • @Tsulan but unless they plan on not doing literally ANYTHING productive... it wouldnt be abuse-able. As soon as they start working on a gen, cleansing a totem, unhooking a teammate, ect...it turns off.

The only time I see this being a problem would maybe be during EGC...so maybe have it turn off then too? i dunno. Just spitballing

  • I use to do this all the time tbh, slug for the 4k. It got to the point where I kinda just stopped caring as much. If I stomped a team bad enough that someone got out via hatch, that's still a win for me. Its even less of an issue for me now that hatch is close-able. I DO understand though why ppl do it however as far as emblems go. someone escaping via hatch can take your iridescent devout emblem and turn it into a silver...which sucks.

  • @Vetrathene said:

I agree it is a crutch, it requires nothing besides getting off a hook. While you can wait it out, it is a very long time and its a perk that rewards bad play rather then good. And the fact is I've gotten someone on a hook after letting that person go, found them later on a gen, downed them, went to pick them up and they STILL had DS. Its ridiculous.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/518929#Comment_518929

@Vetrathene definitely agree on it punishing killers who dont even tunnel. While saying "just dont tunnel" is pretty easy, its still pretty easy to catch someone on a totem or a gen within that 60 second window. While i suppose slugging IS a possibility if you suspect someone has DS, its equally as likely they have unbreakable. It also doesnt help at all if someone runs strait into a locker in front of you, knowing you cant hit them and leave them on the ground. In that case, unless you want to stare at a locker for 60 seconds, you either gotta eat the DS or leave.

Biggest problem I currently see with the current iteration of DS though is the things survivors can generally get away with because of the 60 second safety window. If the perk is meant to protect someone from being downed again right off the hook, why is it still protecting them if they choose to rush an unhook themselves afterward, break a totem, work on a gen, ect.

TBH, i wouldnt mind it if they removed the timer all together and allowed it to stay on indefinitely until the survivor either heals up or does any action other than healing (such as working on a gen). Id be interested in hearing thoughts on this and either your reasoning for either being for or against it.

  • Why do people try to quote others by alternating capital and lowercase letters instead of actually making a point? It doesn't make you look smarter. If the only thing you can bring to debate a topic and defend your position iS tO tAlK lIkE tHiS...dont bother replying.

As a killer main, I can actually sympathize here with survivors finding this as BS after all the MoM cheese Ive endured. Much of the same arguments are being made. So many survivors talked about how you should just use a killer or bring perks to 1 shot to counter MoM, much like people here are talking about spine chill of premonition (although I believe spine chill is a worthwhile perk anyway). Not sure if the grass argument is REALLY a thing or not, but that would also be very map dependent. If im working on a gen inside where theres no grass...theres nothing to look at for that warning. The argument of "gen tapping" here is about as good of an argument of just hitting a MoM user again. It just artificially extends the time to do the objective in both cases.

You'll notice that while Spirit is not the only killer that excels at doing Gen-grabs, Its specificly this addon on this killer that keeps getting ousted. Thats due to the fact that while a scratched mirror myers can conceal their TR and counter all anti-stealth perks, an observant survivor can always avoid being grabbed due to the killer having to reveal themselves while approaching the gen. This isnt the case with the spirit while using PB. This is why scratched mirror myers still feels fun for both sides while prayer beads keeps being brought up over and over on these forums.

  • Imma say you're about half right. While taking someone out of the game early can swing power for the rest of the match drastically in your favor, Constantly going after the unhooked person and ignoring anyone else ISN'T always the best option available. Often times, the target I go after depends on how close they are to a safe location instead of JUST their healthstate. If you return back to the hook, and successfully interrupted the heal... by all means, hit the injured guy if its quick. If you see one person run to a safe location however, while the other is running to a deadzone...Its often a better idea to chase after the guy in the deadzone, even if its NOT the freshly unhooked guy. Perks like MYC work wonders in these instances, and the other guy still is going to need to heal up. This puts 2 ppl off gens instead of just 1, creating better pressure. It also lets you avoid cases of DS or BT. Im sayin this as a Freddy main. The more people you have injured the better.

  • Putting a perk into balance is not a nerf to survivors. Its a nerf to the perk. Survivors are not in a worse state now than they were before MoM was released. A nerf to survivors would be anything that affects the core game. If all of a sudden, lockers didnt protect from auras for example...that would be a nerf to survivors.

The same could be said for killers and their buffs. With killers, you should also seperate it based off what affects 1 killeer vs EVERY killer. buffing trappers trap setting speed is a trapper buff, not a "killer" buff in general. Buffing 1 thing for 10 different killers is not 10 killer buffs.

  • Dead by Daylight Devs- Were planning on looking at and tweeking some addons for multiple killers

Dead by daylight community- OMG EVERYONE!!! THEYRE GONNA NERF NURSE!!! WHY DONT THE DEVS EVER LISTEN TO US!!!

seriously people, you want devs to listen to you while at the same time NOT watching the Q&A and blowing up over a rumor of something that was NOT said.

  • What if they simply make it deactivate if a survivor does something like unhook a teammate, begin cleansing a totem, begin opening a door, or begin working on a gen. That person is clearly NOT being tunneled off the hook.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think the perk will be fine for stealth killers as it is, although that cooldown better be a short one.

People run the hell away from Myers and Wraith and sometimes even a crouched Pig all the time even when not in a chase and they often don't slow vault when doing it. Slap a 6 second aura reading on top of that and you have the potential of a very powerful perk if you position yourself correctly.

Not to mention with the new terror radius perk, tier 2 Myers can be chasing you with legit 0 terror radius.

@Sairek agree completely. I was thinking the same thing actually. Unfortunately ppl don't realize that not every perk has to be good on every killer, and that's ok.

  • I just wanna throw this out there... They've given us FREE DLCs before, and said they'll do it whenever they can afford to. If a "battle pass" system with cosmetic only things can earn them money... We might see more Free DLCs.

  • @FireHazard As a Freddy main... I'm excited. With teleporting now, he might be one of the best killers to protect a totem, which is polar opposite from him now
