I bought him with shards, and only reason I'm not playing him more is just out of BP grinding. I wanna equip him with better perks before REALLY using him, and since I dont have BBQ on him yet, its just easier to get BPs on other killers atm.
-
Been having some fun with this build. Whispers lets you find the first survivor quickly with monitor typically allowing you to approach them abit closer before they realize you're there. This''ll typically limit the distance they can get on you and either catch them away from pallets and loops or force them to take less than ideal ones. Since monitor spikes your TR up to 40 meters in chase, you'll find anyone within 40 meters of you when you down someone due to infectious fright. If infectious doesnt pop anyone up...hook the guy and they'll show up on BBQ (if they arnt in a locker). If infectious shows nearby ppl...feel free to slug and snowball.
The addons are just kinda whatever, but I like using at least 1 charge speed addon. For the other, I use either a 2nd charge speed, beast marks or a long guide bar. Bubba being able to break pallets via chainsaw allows him abit of an edge on being able to rev your saw at a survivor and threaten them with it at dropped pallets to prevent them leaving early, before finally bringing it down on the pallet while they're still close, thus denying them abit of distance they wouldve otherwise gotten.
All in all, the lack of slowdown perks tends to force a rather aggressive playstyle that Ive had a blast with. I do quite well some games and lose others, but thats life really. Generally your games will be on the quicker side one way or another. Either you slaughter them fast or they pump out gens fast. The game in the picture was over before they got anymore than 2 gens done.

Could be, if it wasn't likely removing his passive madness buildup. And the add ons confirm it will be on a cooldown. It sounds like a nerf to me.
It sounds interesting to me. If you could get a infectious fright effect Everytime you push a button... That would be handy.

Don't gotta go to some Twitter page, can just look at doc's power description and add-ons in-game right now. "Static blast" or whatever it's called could be cool...

Lol downing multiple people with a chainsaw is not slugging. Leaving people on the ground to look for other people for no reason is toxic slugging for garbage killers
THAT particular game ended with a total of 3 chainsaws (1 survivor each) and 3 mallets (last guy managed to pick up a teammate). The entire game was spent chasing people with no period spent blindly searching the map. This is the situations Im talking about. When the situation comes when you have another target in sight, I take it. Infectious fright often times shows me a good target. If the perk ISNT activating, then yeah...Ill go ahead and hook the guy, then apply pressure to whoever showed up on BBQ. The match I'm talking about though (not the one in the pictures btw) ended up in back to back chases with no period of "hooking is the best move" until the very end when everyone was downed.

Lol i'm not talking about slugging in general. I literally said i get why people slug sometimes. I'm talking about people who slug from the start, and keeps on slugging untill everyone is downed. With perks like knock out, infectious fright and stupid stuff like that. That's toxic, cheap, dirty, unfun, not the way this game was meant to be played and most of all : unbalanced.
If the opportunity presents itself at the start, there is no difference. Slugging doesnt have to be a last resort to be a good move. I had a game this past weekend where I found all 4 survivors at the same gen and managed to do nice work with Bubbas chainsaw. There is no reason for me to let 3 ppl run just because its the start of the match.

When survivors do something = Unbalanced.
When killers do something = Tactics, Super Skill, Omg so pro
I gave you plenty of reasons to do it...you responded with THAT? Nice talking to ya.

my only problem is perks that encourage camping (insidious). what a pointless, unfair perk that encourages unfun gameplay.
it should honestly be deleted
Id like for it to be reworked so it could be used outside of camping. Maybe let it persist for awhile after you begin moving, but put it on a cooldown so campers cant use it to stay hidden for so long. This'll let killers use it to stealth around for afew seconds.

If your game is bugged and there is no possible way for you to leave the match without disconnecting - that is, it is impossible for you to either escape or wait to die - then yes, it is acceptable to do so.
Havent had it happen to me yet, but a buddy of mine was telling me about he had a game with a streamer. Streamer hooked him up in the basement, and he got to watch the streamer get to leave the game with him still stuck looking at a green screen... For some reason, the fact that the killer had left was not enough to boot him out of the match...
Really hoping they fix this soon though. I wanna be able to basement hook ppl guilt free again. Had a game this morning where I downed 2 people directly infront of the basement stairs back to back... As in they both were downed at the same time and instead of the best move, I had to take pity and hook them somewhere else. Hook the first guy, pickup the 2nd guy and 1st gets unhooked. Wouldve had em both on hooks for much longer if I couldve hooked em in a non-buggy basement

I already came back on my comment to say it's not the same. But it's both cheap & dirty and no fun. So i meant it was like that in the same sentence.
Often times its just the smart decision to make when presented with the oppertunity. After downing one person, I can either down a 2nd person before they get away, or take the time to immediately pick up and hook the first person, in which case... the second is gone. Slugging is even MORE of a smart move when presented with perks like infectious fright that give time sensitive information (if you dont act immediately, the info given is worthless) or powers like Myers or Plague that are on a time limit. It is best to use that 1 minute of T3 time to be doing as much damage as possible, than spend a large chuck of it carrying anyone to a hook.
This is all talking about slugging as an actual tactic of course. If a person is just downing people and leaving them with no target in mind, whether it be chasing another survivor that they see or running off to put pressure on a gen that would otherwise be finished if they didnt act quickly... If they arnt slugging for any of those reasons but just to see someone crawl... Yeah, thats just someone trying to be annoying.
Personally, I enjoy the fast games that a build like this one usually result in. This gameplay is not dependent on stacking abunch of perks to artificially slow down gen speeds for me. Played this match yesterday morning, had some good chases with everyone involved. Slugged people when presented with the opportunity, and hooked people when I wasn't.
-
Yall are always so negative... The guy has already had a rough start, stop trying to make him feel worse.
To the OP...keep at it, the beginning is kinda rough but once the matchmaker settles you with survivors your own lvl... you'll start seeing the GRADUAL rise in difficulty you SHOULD be seeing as opposed to this mashup of experienced players. Don't let these guys get to ya.

No i know about DW changing to not depleting when running etc thats DW though not how BT activates. i just mean i thought BT in general was useless against freddy cause he was lullaby not a heartbeat. Or am i just thinking of the old freddy? Is that it?
I coulda swore it was like that though a week or so ago when i went against the first freddy i had gone against in ages and unhooked as he was camping and feng distracted slightly but no bt timer popped up and the guy was insta downed again
If you are awake, Freddy has a 32 meter TR (Heartbeat), while not having a TR at all if you are asleep (Lullaby). If someone is awake and makes a save, they CAN apply BT to the rescued survivor.
-
Unfortunately the way the matchmaker is setup, ppl in the highest ranks are kinda just lumped with whoever, due to how few there are of people at that rank. Pretty sure it'll revert to a 6 rank limit once you hit either rank 14 or 15, cant remember which. Which platform do you play on?
-
The difference between plauge making survivors louder while sick and deep wounds doing it is survivors arnt gonna be stealthing with a DW timer. They either mend or run, otherwise the timer drops. This means unlike sickness, survivors arnt likely to still have a DW timer when you find them later, therefore you'd never benefit from any antistealth mechanic.
-
Is this basement bug for ANY basement or just the new map. Considering 2 of the tome challenges for level 3 are for basement hooks, and hooking ppl in the basement is a strong play anyway, it wouldn't surprise me if alot of killers are basement hooking WITHOUT trying to cheat.
-
I actually got a game in with him earlier that resulted in a 3k with 4 gens remaining. Was pleasantly surprised. I'll probably run him some more later to see if I can keep it up. Been screwing around with Bubba and beating teams with HIM with no slowdown perks, so swapping to legion instead wasn't too painful, lol.

Neither, it LOOKED like the freshly unhooked person went afk on my screen, but apparently they were floating or something on theirs and no longer even SAW the basement. I said im sorrry about your afk teammates in the endgame chat, only to learn about this. Did it to 2 people...

This. I'm all for legit slugging as a tactic; but slugging like this for the hell of it, or the game is clearly over, the survivor should be able to give up without incurring a DC penalty/losing the points they gained in the game.
I do think something similar should be in place for killer too, although there is always potential to turn that around.
I know killers can "give up" by opening the exit gates and starting the endgame collapse. Are you suggesting something similar to that?
-

I find it interesting that the same people defending slugging in my thread are questioning why you would do it in yours. Seriously... I hate these trolls.
Because your thread was JUST about slugging, which can often times be the best move to make. This thread however shows a situation where the game is already over... EVERYONE is down, not just you.

@dont_ask_me_again said:
Nice find... maybe the solution is... let the other survivors have a pitch in nulling any penalty against you in the match? If this happened to me and teammates started DC’ing... I’d tick a box saying they shouldn’t be penalised because the game is pretty much over.
Unfortunately this would just be abused to "Veto" a killer. If the killer isnt who you want to face or has an addon you dont like, the whole team could DC without worry. Lord knows Ive seen it done to me plenty where I'll load into a match, only to have a team DC within 15 seconds.

@Hoodied said:
Actually, isn't this considered holding the game hostage?
Cause you are know where they are, but are not hooking them so forcing them to all bleed out
@FriendlyGuy said:
If you hold a game hostage its reportable.
This isnt considered holding the game hostage due to the game ending after 4 minutes. Holding the game hostage would be leaving a person no other way to leave the game other than to DC. All the survivors present will infact leave once they bleedout.

For the record, most survivors enjoy being on the hook about as much as they enjoy being on the ground. So as flawed as OP's premise is, what you're suggesting isn't the contradiction you're presenting it as.
I can understand his reasoning though. Why is being on the hook perferable to being on the ground? Either way, your not doing anything.

Exactly; nothing has been more disheartening than me playing it smart to get from the alarm clock to the save into a tight unhook on the game with the freddy camping, for him to get them down again in two seconds anyway. As a Freddy main, I'm glad it's changed
Same. I was doing just fine before they gave Freddy undetectable, I dont need cheap downs to do well with him.

Nemesis has counterplay and bop takes 40 seconds to down someone so i dont think they need a fix when theres killers that can down faster in that time.
With the change to deepwounds, those perks are no longer an issue. The speed a legion could down someone is irrelevant, the problem people had with it is that it just put every chase on a time limit. The idea of no matter how good you were as a survivor or how much you outplay the killer, you're gonna go down after X amount of seconds is never gonna work.

It’s well known that Bubba’s chainsaw isn’t that great. It’s just so easily avoidable and survivors can force him to M1 at strong loops. I’ve seen some really good players who main Bubba. I haven’t put much time into him so maybe I’m missing something.
I just meant that Bubba is more likely to down survivors in two hits than Billy and Plague so it’s more likely he’ll pip if he gets a 4K as opposed to Billy and Vommy Mommy.
Poor Bubba can’t even pip if you can use his chainsaw effectively. The sad life of Leatherdaddy :(
From my experience, using monitor you're much more likely to catch someone out before they GET to those strong loops. If you go for the saw instead of M1ing, you dont give them the speed boost they use to reach those spots either. They typically are forced to go with whatever weaker pallet loop is nearby, in which you can push them AWAY from from strong loops by revving the saw and bringing in down on that pallet when they're in JUST the right position to guarantee they get the minimum amount of distance on ya. Bubba may not have ATON going for him, but... Hes got afew tricks to work with. Id say about 60% of my downs with him are with the saw.

Not as easy on console as on PSN it requires money after a free one. I dont know about Xbox tho.
Either way my new steam ID will be "Master of NoeD"
I had a Ghostface this morning change his name right before the match started, so the name on the bottom of the screen didnt match the name in the endgame chat box...

It’s only for certain killers though. Billy and Plague being the main culprits. Since the meta is to not cleanse against Plague, she can kill everybody and get 28K points and not pip due to the chaser emblem. Billy has an instadown so that is obvious.
Most other killers have no problem pipping. The other instadown killers (Myers, Ghostface, Bubba) are different due to either having to work for their instadown (stalking) or being so bad that they can’t use their instadown most of the time (Bubba). So they get M1 hits a majority of the time.
I don’t find it hard to pip as most killers, but I do play Plague the most so I pip less frequently. I’m still at Rank 2 though.
I've gotten MANY chainsaws as Bubba, lol. Its also screwed me over... Ended a game the other day with him in about 2 minutes after sawing through the majority of the team and finishing the last guy with 2 mallets. Safety pip...

@PistolTimb said:
Yeah, you can't just "fix" her hitboxes because she would drop from mid tier to low tier near instantly. Nobody would touch her if she had to be as accurate as say Clown, who has to be precise to get direct hits.
Last time they "Fixed" the hitbox, hatchets kept going through survivors. Survivors hitboxes are not shaped like their character models, otherwise smaller survivors would have a smaller hitbox and would ACTUALLY have an advantage.
-
The flying through wall cuz shes hugging it issue has already been resolved. Other than that, theyve tried tweeking the hitbox on it before and it was a disaster. We're kinda just stuck with what we have. In all fairness, for every time the hatchet hitbox looks like its screwed you over, its also collided into a tire or a tree branch that it looked like it shouldve touched.
-
Alot of cosmetics are like that really. You might get a good view of them in a lobby, but are you REALLY gonna be noticing the pair of jeans Jane is wearing mid-match, or the particular knife Ghostface is using?
-
Survivors spawning together actually helps you apply pressure early on. Instead of stumbling across 1 guy with 3 others working on different gens, you stumble across 4 guys and stir them ALL up. I WOULD recommend whispers though as it helps you find a survivor FAST, generally within 15 seconds of the game starting.
-
@Usui said:
You realize the reason survivor ques are instant is because there are to many killers right? If I swap over to killer it's at least 5-10 minute que.
Ive been having the opposite with it taking afew minutes for SoloQ survivor and it taking 3 seconds as killer.

Read my previous post about the rift and you will realize how grindy the rift really is.
Rewarding loyal players is not the same as rewarding hardcore grinders that sleep on this game .
It's not playing one hour a day . It's playing 4-5hours depending on the que times
Are you even trying to read the the original posts or are you just opposing me without reason
Its still very much possible to do even when played casually. I dont get to play very much during the week due to working a full time job and an hour commute each way, so my gaming time is pretty much just restricted to the weekends. Even with that being the case, Im still at rift lvl 40 atm with PLENTY of challenges still left to do to get further.

I mean, I totally agree. That's why I'm as far along the Rift as I am, because I just play normally when I'm not doing challenges and enjoy the game just as much. I phrased it that way not because it was how I personally felt, but because it's how the OP and presumably a few other people feel about the Rift. I felt that explaining why it may feel so grindy might be more helpful than just flat-out telling him he's wrong.
I usually dont play survivor, but these challenges has me playing and appreciating it alot more now. I lvled up Feng here instead of just playing Claudette like I always did before, Got myself a neat cosmetic for her and get these charms dangling on my back... Its the small things, but Im thinking the look is cool.

Yea. Its crazy. Though a lot of them seem to be the kind of people who have a "fear of missing out" and make that the most important than the fact.
I think, for some people, they just haven't realized nothing is different except for the fact they get more out of playing now.
Darn you devs for giving me free stuff for doing what I would be doing anyways!!!-shakes angry fist-
Some of these challenges though I know SOME people really had to struggle with...like fixing a gen.

This is basically why the rift is even here, besides(obviously) to make some money. They want people to play their game, and by doing so you unlock things for the game so it creates an incentive to keep playing and thus keeps the game going.
I don't understand why people think they should be able to unlock these things by not playing, without paying for it. Its confusing to say the least.
My point is before the rift...someone who played 10 rounds did it because they wanted to. Now if that same person plays 10 rounds, they look at it as a grind and not the same game they were JUST playing.
-
@Fibijean said:
The Rift is even more grindy now than it was, and it's a direct consequence of player complaints.
The devs even warned us of that when they changed the challenges to make them easier.
Originally, the challenges were designed at a certain difficulty level such that they would take a certain amount of time to complete, meaning that between the challenges and the passive XP gained while playing the game in pursuit of challenges, most people should be able to complete the Rift without having to grind extra games in between.
But because people complained that the challenges were too difficult, they've been made easier, so now the Rift is overall even more grindy than it was before.
The original 70-80 hour estimate does seem to be pretty far off, admittedly, but a significant proportion of players seem to be on track to complete the Rift all the same. Remember we're not even halfway through, and we won't know the full story until it's over. Also remember that "completable for the average player" is not the same as "completable for every player". Mathematically, it means that probably 40% of players will not be able to complete the Rift without buying progress.
I never really considered playing the game after challenges were finished to be "grinding". To me...it was just the reason why I hop on DBD to begin with...to play the game. Really wish more people would get that and stop thinking of playing the game they enjoy as a job or chore.
-
Im currently at rift lvl 40 with tome lvl 3 barely touched yet. Figured by the time lvl 3 and 4 is done, I should be pretty much finished. I have a family including a 8 month old I have to keep an ear out for while playing, as well as a full time job. Im pretty confident I'll be able to finish up just fine considering the time for rift is ALMOST half over.

Yeah I know, I just couldn't think of the appropriate word to use that make sense with this subject while also lead into my rant that ties in both subjects. It is odd that the Level 2 is more but like I said when BHVR does something they go all the way which is why level 3's variant is easier than Level 2's.
Just seems like you were really just trying to stretch it to somehow fit in a rant. Someones gonna make a post showing off a cool cosmetic and you're gonna be like "Know who else think that cosmetic is cool...LEGION!!! WHO GOT NERFED INTO THE GROUND!!!"
-
@HatCreature said:
Well you know BHVR, we ask them to nerf something they'll go all the way, just like they did with Legion when they tried to balance him the first time, they fixed the problems we were having with them but also chose to go overboard with unecessary things as well. I think they go overboard so they can show us they are listening and that like the Killers they make less is more. ''Oh is that 25 bothering you ok got it I'll shrink it to 5 so you'll feel better. Oh is that Killer too strong, ok got it I'll gut them in every spot that matters so you'll feel better''. This isn't sarcasm or me being a smart ass this is just an observation on my end that is probably poorly worded so not everyone will understand what i'm trying to say.
This isnt really "nerfing" anything, just thought it odd a challenge in lvl 2 was harder than its lvl 3 variant.

It did for me. They're not gonna visit a killer who is already unpopular in an attempt to nerf him. If you want a gaming computer, best to just get a desktop anyway. You'll be able to put together a much better desktop at a fraction of the price as getting a gaming laptop.

The devs are not gonna nerf SWFs because a couple buddies wanted to play together.They're already working on tweeking killers, theyve been pretty vocal on their plans to do so. We can actually expect some love to Doc soon, which is gonna be nice.
