As someone who hopes to support the devs, BHVR, and the game for as long as it can last...

...you're right. Some challenges have dramatically altered how the game is played. Again, it is probably really difficult to come up with unique challenges for this game, but for now basement camping (as one example) is all too common.

That challenge is the only reason for anyone to ever even LOOK at monsterous shrine. First time I did the challenge...I was so happy until I realized I forgot the perk, lol

I mean Alert is a good perk, but nobody's going to pick her for it when they can have 5 chase/second chance perks on Laurie and Bill.

I lvled up my Feng and started playing her, just for those shades and those sweet headphones.

@Pulsar in 2 of those games there were no items, no 3/4 men swf, those spirits wanted to show their small E-pen

thats why i would love to see casual que to dodge those BS (que with green, purple, red stuff blocked) and only way around that is running plunders on surv (yup i talking about blocking droping keys unless surv has plunders)

Legit question. Why do you think so many ppl claim to face spirit so much, when the stats page showed she was only used in like 11% of matches?

It would just mean we'd no longer see most of the survivor cast. You'd have Lauries everywhere for DS or Bills for BT, or Meg for Adren, then it'd just be 5 perk builds with the same broken combinations.

Im pretty sure this would also gut Feng's popularity since her only "popular" perk is lithe...which isnt very popular.

  • @HatCreature said:

So everyone has already said why this idea is bad but here is an alternative to your idea.

What if every character was allowed to use 1 perk from their own personal perks in addition to the 4?

For example: One of Dwight's personal perks is Bond so he can choose to use Bond and then use Open Handed, Kindred, Urban Evasion, and Spinechill. This build is for being stealthy and if you need heals you can find your buddy which you can find very easily and if you're on the hook everyone sees everyone. Bond isn't actually needed in this build but it's an example. Another example is that Hag starts with Ruin but then she can run an entire build free from the fear of not being able to use Ruin because she starts with it for free.

This idea wouldn't help every Killer as all of Demogorgon's perks suck(pretty embarrassing for a highly anticipated licensed character) but you get the idea and it could help a little bit in having a little more freedom for perk choices and make every Survivor unique instead of just being a skin.

That would end up making "meta" survivors, which are suppose to only be skins. Would also make certain perk choices really obvious to the killer. While I already assume all Lauries have DS and all Davids have dead hard...this would pretty much guarantee those suspicions. Theres already a lack of people playing Jane, Jeff and Quentin, this would just put a nail in that coffin.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Why would that be a problem? I don't understand you are going to play the match either way what does it matter?

Are you saying the items themselves are a problem?

Because the only other thing would be that you want to lobby dodge it; in which case there is a problem here I agree and it isn't them.

Many ppl swap loadouts depending on items. Might bring franklins or lightborn or something.

  • Myers is alot of fun and currently one of only 2 killers that I have all perks unlocked for.

  • Only time dodging is really a problem for me is when I play Huntress...

  • No, the Lullaby is just a tune that can be heard 32 meters around Freddy while asleep. Perks that interact with TR become worthless while asleep. This is true of killer perks like Infectous fright or unnerving presence as well as survivor perks like borrowed time or stakeout.

I wouldn't call it hoping cause in my games all survs have ds 90% of the time.Bt isn't as effective against freddy unless ur near gates which is exactly what u said, and the survivor unhooking needs to be awake,u are completely correct in ur statements I just said something quick thought and it won't be valid unless it happens under certain situations/circumstances aka survivor thats unhooking having bt and being awake and exit gates being near.Let me ask you something else tho,is it that bad to have a killer that can negate bt?While playing any other killer survivors can and will just hook bomb at endgame while combining body blocking to make sure you get nobody. Now is that fair either, that if he is going against coordinated survivors (solo, swf doesn't matter, only thing that matters is if they know how to bodyblock properly) that he is gonna lose that 1 and only kill he could have had?

While it may suck to watch a survivor get away... we're talking about a perk fulfilling its intended purpose. Im one to complain about getting DSed when a survivor ran right at me because they knew I couldnt pick them up before they crawled out the gate. When a survivor gets "outplayed" as soon as their feet hit the ground though, it sucks...ESPECIALLY when their teammate came prepared to counter that exact situation.

  • im actually enjoying them, and Im enjoying unlocking the lore entries,

idk what to tell ya,i dont have problems with that and i play soloQ all the time,i feel like its a pretty nice buff to him and besides wake up and save while ur awake make someone else take the hit you save person has bt,if he gets hit it will run out but if hes running ds he should be fine :F

In your example there, it doesnt really matter if BT was applied or not. The person getting tunneled off hook will still go down and your just hoping he has DS. While body blocking does help, I'm not gonna pretend that waking up is gonna make BT at all effective against Freddy.

  • @Andreyu44 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/878230#Comment_878230

Its not that easy and effective in practice.

I just dont think its fair since Freddy doesnt need to do anything to cancel BT while other killers do.

Ghostface pushes a button when you go to unhook, not really a difference as far as denying the BT goes. I do agree that oblivious was an unneeded addition to Freddy. I myself was already doing QUITE well with him before that was brought in. Just trying to provide SOME help because yeah...BT is useless against him and bodyblocking is your only option. Get in his way enough and he'll be forced to swap targets to you instead of the injured guy.

  • @luka2211 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/108441/borrowed-time-not-working-while-youre-asleep

I mean u are asleep, and in sleep there is no terror radius so yeah,no bt for ya :F that forces you to wake up even more thats how i see it

Thats not really gonna help a survivor protect someone using BT against Freddy. If the unhooker is asleep, the guy off the hook gets smacked and downed. If the unhooker is awake...the guy off the hook gets smacked and falls down when the timer drains. Against Freddy... the guy fresh off the hook cant be allowed to get hit or he WILL drop, which is why I said bodyblocking is really the only option.

I know that it's strong, but bloodlusting takes a while. How can legion be good in ANY way without this build?

Thats the thing though, no matter how fast the chases are using the method... no one wants to do chases where their skill is thrown out the window and its just a simple timer saying "ok, you die now". If the legion can land a 2nd hit, cool for him...if not, the chase ends automatically in under a minute... Thats dumb.

  • @burntFuse said:

So is killing 3 survivors and then letting the last have the hatch considered a success for this challenge?

As long as no one opens a gate, yes. All 4 could escape via hatch as long as both gates remain shut.

  • Pretty sure they simply mean kill everyone or force them to take the hatch, all while using this perk. On the bright side, many ppl cant hit DS to save their lives if you have it on.

  • @FriendlyGuy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/878160#Comment_878160

The legion just received a massive nerf. With two new perks they got a good, new build. And it's even counterable by dropping pallets early.

beast of prey kicks in its effect after chasing someone for 15 seconds, and no amount of early pallet drop is gonna change that one. All I gotta do is not kick it, and chase you til you drop.

  • The blood on a P3 Claudette is actually just the blood of her teammates that she let die so she could get the hatch.

To be fair, Jeff does need to be more quiet. Playing him is like always putting Stridor on yourself when injured.

No...JANE needs buffs we're were talking about noise whille injured. Sometimes while im chasing her, I feel like I should just have pornhub opened up on my 2nd monitor. If anyone walks in wondering what that noise was, its just easier to explain.

  • That one actually IS a problem. I'm all for weaker killers getting love, but thats just cheesing their power for cheap downs.

BT worked before the rework so they changed it on purpose ?? Why???

Im just explaining how it is. With different perks allowing killers to tweek their TR, you can expect to run into this more and more. I remember a video awhile back of Otz showcasing dark devotion on Clown and being able to get around BT THAT way.

If your team is taking 20 minutes to repair 5 gens, that's on you and your team. If you are well organized, you can still do gens fast enough in most cases. Freddy is a bit of a problem though.

Freddy, with his slowdown addons, Dying Light and Thana can reach up to 50% action speed slowdown, however, it does take some time to get the stacks for Dying Light and Thana as well as his slowdown addons can be removed by healing and waking up. So it's more an average of 25 or 30 % action speed debuff that Freddy applies. 30% repair slowdown results in a gen to take 114 seconds to complete alone. Can be boring, but that's not too op yet.

50% slowdown though means one gen takes 160 seconds to repair alone. And Freddy does have the potential to get close to or even reach that value. That is without a doubt in my mind too much. Way too much. Which is why this game needs an action speed debuff cap. 20 or 25 % would be good in my opinion. Meaning that if mulitple effects that slow down action speed stack, they can't stack higher than up to 20 or 25 %.

This would prevent Freddy being able to use insane slowdown buils, and at the same time allow the devs to add other slowdown perks or addons in the future without having to worry about them stack into oblivion.

The crazy numbers that people refer to though is in the event of everyone being on deathhook, while injured and someone having used their DS partway through. Im just picturing the survivors huddled up going "Wasnt OP at the start, but NOW its OP..."

  • BT only works in a killers TR, so if theres no TR or a really small TR... Its not gonna work too well. On the other hand if your against a Doc with a huge TR, you'll have it work even when hes on the other side of the map.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    The stats mean nothing.

The amount of games where I've been gen rushed in 4 minutes, would have gotten a 1k at most, and it turns into a 3k/4k because of altruism kills, is... well, it happens a lot.

I bet if they released survivor escape rates for a lot of different survivors, we'd see a lot of variance, despite survivors being nothing more than skins.

Just means Nea needs a nerf and Jeff needs a buff...obviously

im just hoping his addons get fixed because i don't think his base kit needs anything done to it. And it seems alittle weird right after statistics came out threads popped up like "freddy is unfun to play against" like a hour after statistics dropped.

The threads and comments about "Forever Freddy" was already a thing, people are now seeing the stats as proof that he needs a nerf where as before it was just annoying. People find Doc annoying as all hell to face, doesnt mean hes strong. In this case, the subject of their annoyance is deemed as strong, which means people have something to back up their claims that the annoyance should be changed.

That was an issue with darkness offerings which were removed already and with claudettes color pallet in her design, not with the map ambiance imo.

If Claudette was fixed I wouldn't see an issue. The game doesn't need to be a hide and seek game but I'd like stealth for jukes mid chase to at least be more viable than they currently are.

Im trying to see it from both sides. I typically suck at chases, so avoiding them all out or juking the killer ASAP once found is typically what I go for (ironwill is awesome...). Typically it just comes down to breaking line of sight and walking away to not leave scratch marks. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. Its about 50-50 whenever I get into a decent spot to attempt it on whether it works on not. At the same time though, I dont want EVERY map to be like coldwind farm with the corn where the "Stealth" for the game is simply a matter of the killer cant see #########.

  • @Fibijean said:

Last time I checked, you couldn't.

But if that's been changed, it's probably for the same reason that killers can hit through windows - because there's no logical or gameplay-related reason why they shouldn't be able to.

Did it afew days ago as Billy to a survivor trying to loop me around the fence. Yes... its possible.

  • People were already complaining about "Forever Freddy", they might not have realized just how high his killrate was though.

  • Rank reset is simply to prevent everyone from eventually being red ranks and completely screwing up queues for new players. If resets didnt exist, the entire playerbase would be about rank 1-5 except for ppl who JUST downloaded the game whod be stuck at rank 20 unable to find a match. I asked the same question of "why is this a thing" a long time ago...this was the answer.

  • @Blueberry said:

In trying to better optimize the game for people with worse computers they heavily downgraded and killed whatever atmosphere there used to be.

The darkness, fog, atmosphere and ambience needs to be increased massively. It currently feels like you're playing in the middle of the day.

There gets to be a point though that its not fun playing hide and seek when your screen is near black, the fog so thick you cant see 2 ft infront of you and everyone picked claudette.

ive played for 2 years and still the killers with no terror radius might jumpscare me a bit like scratched mirror michael and the pig and rarely ghostface if its so sudden so there is some horror (id put spirit to but she doesnt seem to scare me moreso annoy me).

Jumpscares can happen even when something isnt scary though.

  • @akbays35 said:

I think Benevolence Emblems need some kind of nerf or rework. I think survivors are ranking too easy just unhooking and healing which might be skewing the rank system. I think killer rank should be entirely on winning chases, not hooks, not kills, winning chases and or area control because that is really the skill expression of killers.

The problem with "winning chases" is the games definition of a chase and being ranks based off how many I partake in. Had a game as Billy the other day with a total of 2 mallets+3 saws. The game sees this as me winning 5 chases. Didnt slug or anything, just found and downed everyone VERY fast with those 3 chases won via saw only lasting about 5 seconds and everyone died on first hook.

Okay, but it's not about the fun aspect of the game that matters here, it's the horror. This is a horror survival multiplayer game after all, and the only times it is scary is if you're a new player, powers that cause jumpscares, or a stealth killer creeping on you. Other than that, there's nothing that brings a sense of dread, and I feel the game can find a spicier way of life if it had more of that.

The problem with that is all aspects of horror will eventually fade once the individual players get use to it. You cant really find any horror game/movie/book/ect that still is able to hold that same feeling once you're on your 10th playthrough/viewing/reading/ect.

  • Much of the horror from 2016 was simply because it was new. After putting time into the game, you're not gonna be as scared of Trapper coming near the gen your working on as you felt that first time you played.

  • Its ironic how ppl will do things like farm hook saves so they can rush through a tome, only to then complain that they dont have anymore challenges to do once they finish them all in 2 days.

  • I know, but you only lose 1 as opposed to killers WITHOUT an instadown who would lose 2 per down. Figured get your 3 stacks early on, then keep swapping obsessions and topping off that 1 stack you lose from the last guy you sawed down. Being able to close distance twice as fast as normal will drastically cut down on survivors ability to reach the next jungle gym/loop, plus makes his saw more dangerous with him moving faster while swinging it.

  • That combo sounds pretty nice for most killers who can 1 shot, so you can save those stacks better. Was actually thinking of using it on Bubba personally... I could also see this working really well on Wraith who can already build PWYF stacks really quickly when chasing the obsession.

  • Ive actually seen territorial+Make your choice work really well on him if you can get a basement hook. Place a portal near the basement and get a notification everytime someone enters it. Its not completely uncounterable or anything, but you might get afew hooks with it before survivors figure it out.

  • Id say addons that increase power recovery are universally helpful no matter your playstyle. If you want to do some stalking, addons that boost stalk speed are useful. Addons that boost things like movement speed WHILE stalking though...are useless.

They don't have too talk about the behind the scenes every week, but it would be nice too have a 30-45 min QnA stream a week so we know the communities voice is being heard. ATM it feels like people are just shouting into empty air on the forums with constant "we'll look into it" or "we are listening." being shouted back, but nothing is looked into and they rarely listen.

I Think the most famous bug is the one where killers get stuck inside pallets when there dropped on them. It's constantly "getting patched out." but always comes back, most recent time was with Ghostface. Another one is the horrible Animation glitches, like when you get Adrenalin at the precise moment you get grabbed, so you just become a vacuume and slide across the floor on you're belly (personally had this happen too me.)

it's not really a glitch, but where is the optimization for DBD after 3 years? I guarantee a lot of problems could be fixed of the game was optimized better. As far as I know there isn't any plans for better Optimization, so why is that?

Optimization is actually constantly getting worked on with each unreal engine update. I know certain things in the game are QUITE taxing on consoles as well as some lower end PCs. Doc is known for tanking FPS. Hopefully we can have that not be the case EVENTUALLY, because Doc doesnt need anymore hate, lol.

As far as the stuck in a pallet bug, I personally have never experienced that one. I play killer about 95% of the time so I dont find myself in the situation too often where I can see it happen to other ppl playing killer either. I know for awhile there was a bug that would make it look like survivors were just skating or something instead of running...which alot of the community actually wanted left into the game, lol. I know bugs like these pop up in alot of new patches and get fixed soon after. The current PTB has a similar walking bug where survivors are moonwalking everywhere, that will no doubt be fixed...probably within a month.

As far as streams go, if you have questions and such...go to one of their streams. Just because they dont have a devstream where they sit behind a desk and dedicate an hour specifically to QnA every week, doesnt mean you cant talk to them. These guys DO fairly regularly stream themselves playing DBD. I personally have Mclean followed on twitch and know he DOES infact chat with his viewers while playing. We dont NEED a super formal stream to have open communication, just remember to be respectful and dont come across as demanding.

Well, I'm not the one who originally mentioned Bethesda. The other person was comparing DBD's glitches to F76. Fallout 76 wasn't even functional upon release, to the point where people tried to file a class action suit against Bethesda, on the grounds of false advertising. Bethesda had advertised and promised a functional game in their marketing, and they broke that promise quite spectacularly.

Thought the lawsuit was for the subscription service they released for fallout 76 that didnt provide all the things they said it would, and then they refused to give refunds to the people who asked after seeing what they ACTUALLY got. Either way, im too lazy to look it up atm so meh. Bethesda is known for 2 things. Bugs and successfully selling the same game to ppl 10 times, lol. All that said though...Skyrim VR is fun....

  • @Monlyth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/877770#Comment_877770

Sure, but even games created by developers that are famous for having a high level of polish and few bugs will still run into game-breaking issues fairly often, especially with older titles that have had many patches.

For example, even after 15 years of tireless bugfixing, you can still run into issues like graphical errors, game crashes, map collision errors and much more while playing World of Warcraft. Some of the bugs have been around for a decade or more.

Sure, Im not saying bugs dont run rampant on many successful games. Using Bethesda as an example though is a joke since that company is KNOWN to release back to back buggy messes. If you said "Even Blizzard has many long lasting bugs in their games" would be abit different, but mentioning Bethesda... lol.

  • @Fibijean said:

I'm not sure I'd say survivor is the power role necessarily, just that the Haddonfield + BL combo is broken as heck. And you were a good 5-6 ranks above him by the sounds of it. Poor Demodoggo :(

^^^This. Often times with loops like that, you just gotta let them go. Unfortunately alot of times that just leads to ppl beelining it there as soon as they get found. The amount of times Ive found ppl on Wretched shop, just for them to run strait to the main building EVERY chase makes me glad I tend to use killers with a 1 shot down that doesnt give them a speed boost there with the first hit...or Freddy, who can kill any strong loop in the game with snares.

  • @Monlyth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/877716#Comment_877716

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to fix bugs, especially in a 3-year-old game that's had dozens of patches, big and small? A single typo in a single line of code, buried under years of band-aid fixes and patches designed to fix other unrelated issues, can cause a game to instantly crash, or completely break a core system of the game. Even the most polished modern videogames are not devoid of bugs.

Fallout 76 is not even functional half the time. It freezes and crashes constantly. Core systems of the game, like enemy AI, character animations or physics often stop working entirely. Not to mention that Fallout 76 is a full-price game that has its own pay-to-win cash shop. Also, Fallout 76 is a crappy game with terrible design and tedious, mediocre, cynically copy-pasted gameplay.

They may have stopped doing dev streams every week (Probably because it took a lot of time away from actually doing their job and working on the game), but they post regularly on their forums and reply to threads on a regular basis, which is more than most developers can say. Just look on the Overwatch forums, for example; the developers haven't replied to any of the popular balance-related topics on their forums in almost three months.

Not to mention that you're overlooking the countless instances where they actually listened to the community and acted upon their feedback: The community wanted Nurse changed, so they reworked the Nurse, twice. The community wanted Spirit changed, so they reworked Spirit, twice. The community wanted Legion changed, so they changed the Legion. I could go on and on; compared to its original launch, Dead By Daylight's gameplay is almost unrecognizable, as virtually every element of the game has been tweaked heavily since then, and nearly all of those changes were made based on community feedback.

And, in fact, just a couple of days ago, the developers made an announcement that they would be changing the level 3 tome challenges, in response to the community's feedback that the challenges were too difficult. During Thanksgiving week, no less.

Do you wanna know what the actual bare minimum is? Just maintaining the game's servers and never actually releasing any new content. It can be done with a tiny skeleton crew of developers, and it requires almost no effort or expertise whatsoever. There are countless games which do just that. The developers are anything but lazy; in fact, I suspect that they're being overworked to keep up with the demand for changes and new content.

Playing devils advocate here... Doing better than Bethesda on bugfixes isnt exactly setting the bar too high, lol. Bethesda's headline might as well be "Having bugs makes the game quirky, right?".

1 … 125 126 127 128 129 … 185
