It is doing better then the rest, but that doesn't mean BHVR is doing the best they could. Where did the weekly dev streams go? Why are bugs from the games launch still in the game? Why is there very little community feedback when it comes too buffs/nerfs?

Ok, one thing at a time...

As far as weekly devstreams go, alot of times theres not really much to talk about on a week by week basis. The devs DO stream themselves PLAYING the game on a pretty regular basis, but you'll be lucky to find ANY game that does a WEEKLY devstream update. I know Warframe skips around from doing one every 2 weeks to once a month.

As far as bugs go...Yes, theres bugs, lol. Im not gonna pretend theres not bugs, theres youtube series that are pretty much just compilation of videos showcasing bugs. You cant tell me that you've missed the huge laundry list of bug fixes at the bottom of every patchnotes list though. You said theres certain bugs that have been around since release. What bugs are you referring to SPECIFICALLY with that, and please dont say hitboxes or something.

As far as buffs and nerfs go, its kinda both sides. Alot of their decision making feels like it came outta nowhere, I'll admit to that. The changes on the PTB for Legion's base mend time because they felt his mend time when he stacked 2 mend time addons was too long was...odd. On the other hand though, many changes they HAVE done was things that came STRAIGHT from the community. When Demogorgon hit PTB, everyone saw his UR addon that made shred break pallets and said "That should really be base-kit". On the current PTB now with the Spirit changes, the changes to Prayer beads, collision and vault animation were all community ideas. Sure they havent implemented every change that everyone has ever thought of, but much of that is simply due to many ideas not being agreed upon by the community as it is. I COULD list off far more changes that they DID implement if you want, but I'll just end this here for now.

It's because the monopolized a market, not because the game is good. As you said, no game that has the concept of an A-Symmetrical Horror has done well, but that doesn't mean DBD is doing well either, it's simply doing better then the rest.

IMO BHVR has gotten lazy, and are happy with the bare minimum. Why try when you know nothing else can touch you? It's why I'm hoping Last Year's steam release succeeds because BHVR needs competition too make them try.

Its a monopoly in that all the competition that it DID have fizzled out quick. SOMEHOW DBD managed to survive and is currently growing in popularity when none of its competition came anywhere close. Even Friday the 13th at its peak of interest doesnt rate near what DBD has right now...at this very moment. Its currently 2:30 am for me and DBD has more players online right now then F13 had...ever. Thats GOTTA tell you that this game is doing SOMETHING better than all those other games.

  • Personally I never understood how thrilling tremors could POSSIBLY be abused. If a killer keeps dribbling a survivor, that survivor is just gonna wiggle out.

A multiplayer online game SHOULD keep growing after 3 years..

Im not saying its failing, but its no where near as good as it could be.

Real talk discussion time. Can you think of anything DBD could do besides mechanical issues (Fix framerate ect) that its failed competitors havent already done? We dont wanna emulate something that didnt work. The devs already know the need to work on framerate for consoles, so suggesting it over and over again is just beating a dead horse at this point. They currently have their hands full with dedicated servers which is... struggling atm to say it nicely.

Steam charts are high because it's always discounted

    It was discounted last week.

    This weekend

It gets discounted every month basically

    That's why they are high

    You're welcome

The fact is the game is more popular now than it was 6 months ago, than it was last year, than it was 2 years ago... More ppl are currently logged on RIGHT NOW than back then. Thats not something any of its competitors can claim. The "DBD Killers"...are all dead.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/877018#Comment_877018

    Yeah,slowly.

When I load in to the game,Frame rate is still horrible.

I still have to wait in lobby for what feels like an eternity everytime.

While you say this, updates get delayed .

While you say this, swf groups are still dominating red ranks after 3 years.

Do I need to go on? You'll keep defending devs regardless.

You're not helping them if when they are CLEARLY doing something wrong, you're like "its okay, keep making mistakes"

    Yeah,no.

    They need to improve.

    For DBD's health.

Your claims would have more merit if the game was actually failing. The fact that a 3 year old game is seeing a rise in popularity STILL is pretty nuts when you think of other games released 3 years ago have either died off or are on a downward slope (looking at you Overwatch). The fact of the matter is the marketing team for this game has somehow managed to continue gathering interest for this game after 3 years. Yes, theres room for improvement on the mechanical lvl. To suggest that the game is failing though is simply untrue.

  • The irony is the game is currently more successful than its ever been, one look at the steam charts will tell you that.Every one of its competitors...who have all had the same exact concept...have died. DBD on the other hand is still on the rise, and has had quite abit of success with its console ports. People who constantly suggest that the devs are driving the game into the ground and its gonna die... havent done much research. This game is only going up.

  • Anyone else notice the proposed change to the unhook challenge for tome 3 is less unhooks needed than tome 2? Tome 2 needed 15 unhooks while theyre saying theyre gonna change tome 3s to 10.

I think all challenges are easy with the exception of unhooking 2 survivors during the EGC. They really went nuts with that one.

    Tome 4 challenge...get 7 unhooks during EGC

That would be cool, if only the community wasn't so toxic, makes R6 community look so kind lol

No kidding. With a lobby chat, just feel like people would just use it to tell me to kill myself BEFORE the game instead of waiting for after.

  • Its not camping when your actively hunting someone. You wouldve done the same move whether there was a hooked gut behind you or not.

Ah ok, my bad mate, thank you very much for clearing that up for me :)

Your good. I feel like if there WAS a lobby chat between killer and survivor, it would be alot of the same abusive chat we already see in postgame chats. Would still be cool though to be able to tell the other side "Ill pop a BPS if you do..." so I'm conflicted.

Killer cant talk in lobby chat

  • @Groxiverde said:

I respect you for not using enduring on Billy. What a mad man lol

I dont use it on many killers. If I HAVE to swing thru a pallet I will, but the extra 1 second stun doesnt mean much when I can just zone you afterwards.

Well you can 4k depip if you slug the entire team and 1 hook everyone. The entity is displeased if you kill them too fast!

I didnt even slug this game, although I DO have infectious fright for when the opportunity presents itself. I hooked a guy, went to zoom off only to see a survivor in my peripherals... Sawed him down and hooked him. Started up the saw and turned around with the intent of zooming across the map...only to have a survivor now 10 ft infront of me... Sawed him down and hooked him... Then found and sawed the last guy.

I went on a thirteen escape streak through exit gates not too long ago, does that make survivor too easy?

Just means you need to turn off those sick hax you be using.

You should be happy you are not advancing into high red ranks, really.

Im pretty use to playing in red ranks and dont really try to avoid it or anything. I AM abit chill as far as ranking up goes and dontt try to crank up rank right away...just play whatever I want here and there. Just found it amusing that being too good at chasing and downing ppl results in no emblem for chaser.

  • @Marcus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/874552#Comment_874552

I go with your logic here and say that Thanatophobia, even when stacked with Dying Light, barely does anything other than affect survivors psychologically by turning the bar from gens red. Dying Light only starts to mean anything at 4-5 stacks, but you already got a good amount of hooks and pressure, you don't really need that slow down unless you go for a 3 gen strat. And yeah, Monitor and Abuse + Infectious Fright are very strong on Plague, especially with an Apple, you can snow ball really hard with that single corrupted pool and force survivors to cleanse. I especially want to see how good Blood Echo and Nemesis + Play With Your Food are gonna be on Plague.

Was actually thinking of Plague for Blood echo as well. Unless you just cant find anyone to start a chase with, you pretty much wont have to worry about exhaustion perks at all. Nemesis+PWYF is a combo I wanna try on afew killers...like mah Bubba.

  • @Marcus said:

Most slow down builds are laughable. Even on Plague I started to doubt the "Thanatophobia + Dying Light" combo.

Thanatophia seems like a no brainer on Plague since if ANY killer can get the most out of it, it would be her. I do feel like she can make good use out of other perks though instead of full slowdown build. PWYF works really nice on her as well a infectious fright. With everyone being 1 shot-able, using monitor to close in on them before they have time to beeline it to a strong structure can also be handy. I feel like going with the approach of slowing the game down enough so I can break EVERY pallet on the map...is kinda just unimaginative,

  • @Apple2o said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/874377#Comment_874377

The way I see it, you just stack as many slowdown perks as possible and only add the tracking or chase if the killer needs it.

When I am playing a strong killer like hag I usually rock 4x slowdown perks and it's a pretty brutal build. Ruin, pop, thanta, sloppy. I'd run that build on any killer who can afford it to because that's probably the slowest you are ever going to get the game.

I like running STBFL when I can afford it, and BBQ goes on my builds because I can always use more BPs...theres always killers to lvl up and get more perks on. Im not too experienced with Hag, but I HAVE been experimenting abit with infectious fright which is alot of fun. If you can get back to back downs, slugging a survivor is one way to slowdown progress.

The point was to compare the stuff killers have to end gamed quickly to what a surivior has. The thing I dislike the most of this community is them using swf team for an excuse for everything when it is actually confirmed more people play solo than a 4 man group. So when people talk about action speed, they mean as an solo surivior and not swf team because everyone knows solo surivior is hell.

The people referring to action speed were talking about the actual game stat, not players being efficient. Thats why ppl were talking about toolboxes being able to counter action speed debuffs like thana and nobody brought up keys or moris which just end games prematurely.

  • @Zoldyar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/872953#Comment_872953

You are saying it as if every player wants to win the game fast and quickly. It's also ironic how killers complain about games ending quickly as if Mori isn't a thing.

Id be down for moris to stop polluting my bloodwebs and forcing me to buy 7k ebony moris whenever I wanna get to the next bloodweb. I typically only buy them when theres no other option. If they wanted to make the mori animation a thing at basekit for the end of the game or something, that would be cool though. In this particular case though, moris are abit off subject when people are talking about things affecting action speeds.

Yeah i love the snares more than I thought I would. Hes a better clown in that regard.

When comparing Clown's and Freddy's powers, they both do the same thing for the same amount of time really. The difference comes in placement. Its alot easier to place Freddys snares at EXACTLY where you want it for survivors to get slowed at the exact TIME you want them to get slowed. Clown's gas feels more...sloppy. Survivors feel the slow sooner often times, or see theyre gonna go into it and know theyre gonna get slowed, resulting in a dropped pallet for you to break. With Freddy, those snares seem more welcoming to get 1 more loop in before dropping the pallet... By the time they hit it and get slowed, its too late.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/874400#Comment_874400

It's because you have Red Paint Brush and Swing Chains. That combo is very effective on it's own. Surge and Pop also contribute to this. I agree it's not "Forever Freddy" by Calvin Klein but it is "Hot Minute Freddy" at least.

My Freddy build is BBQ, Pop, Thana, Ruin (usually), ropes, and a drawing. I know between Thana and ropes I'm slowing them down quite a bit, and BBQ + Pop let's me really shut down gens quickly. Ruin I just put on for chill games, but if I'm feeling especially evil I put on Dying Light instead. With Jump Rope, THAT is a Forever Freddy build.

Feel like swingchains just causes abit of "red bar syndrome". Its not really all that potent (at its strongest it makes a gen take 90 seconds instead of 80 when doing it solo), but survivors see that red bar and it seems way worse than it actually is. If the addon had no effect AT ALL and just turned the bar red... ppl would still think theyre going at a snails pace.

Yeah i feel the same way. Ocassionally i use fake pallets for the lolz.

I thought id like the pallets more when he was first released, but snares makes me feel like I have more control of the situation and I feel is just versatile. Fake pallets has you eating REAL pallets mindlessly while snares lets you get hits in before the pallet is ever thrown.

  • For that particular chart, they didn't differentiate by rank. This is the posting im referring to if you want to take a look at each.

    @Peanits said:

Earlier this week, we asked you what statistics you would like to see. Since then, we have collected data on some of the most popular requests and designed some fancy graphics for them. There are a few things to note:

    • This data does not include the recent PTB.
    • Data involving rank was collected shortly before a rank reset (April 1st to April 7th).
    • These are very general statistics, so use caution before drawing any conclusions.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/719/CPIDC1XE8JBT.jpg

    Average Party Size

This is the overall average, between all ranks and platforms, of how many other Survivors players are queuing up with. More than half of the total Survivors are playing solo, while only 3-6% are playing in a full Survive With Friends group. This is based on the group size out of the total number of matches.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/771/II0BH5BS6HP0.jpg

    Party Size Survival Rate

This is the average chance of Survival per Survivor depending on the size of the Survive With Friends group they are playing in. This is an average between all ranks on all platforms.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/270/X1L1JQEBEOMA.jpg

    Survival Rate by Rank

This graph shows the average rate of survival per Survivor at any given rank, per platform. Please note: The data collected is using your rank after the match, so players who depipped from rank 1 down to rank 2 would appear as rank 2 for our purposes. This is likely the reason why you'll notice a large gap between the survival rate of rank 1 and rank 2: Players who survived were more likely to pip and maintain their rank, while those who died were more likely to depip and lose their rank.

This data was also collected between April 1st and April 7th, after the pipping thresholds were originally changed but before they were later tweaked to be more forgiving for Survivors. Because of that, the statistics at this rank are from a small sample size consisting solely of the best players that could maintain rank 1 with the strict pipping conditions.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/198/WJGATDU9GIYC.jpg

    Average Game Length

This graph shows the average game length at any given rank for each platform. This is the time from the start of the match until the final Survivor either escapes or is sacrificed.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/103/8BOLFYNH0D9I.jpg

    Most Popular Killer by Rank

This chart shows which Killer is the most popular depending on rank, per platform. For example, on PC from rank 1-4, nurse is the most popular Killer, while Hillbilly tends to be more popular from rank 5-12. The highest overall usage for any Killer at a given rank is the Nurse at rank 1, coming in at 22.39%.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/398/4A494UUNC0WZ.jpg

    Highest and Lowest Kill Rates

This chart shows the deadliest (yellow) and least deadly (red) Killers per platform. These stats are an average for all ranks. Since there are four Survivors, a 50% kill rate equates to two Survivors escaping and two Survivors dying.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/928/2YVQMEWUS0KN.jpg

    Most Used Perks (Survivor)

This chart shows the most popular Survivor perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. We decided not to display ranks 13-20 as they tend to be more random (newer, lower ranked players tend to use whichever perks they have rather than picking what they want specifically). The numbers displayed are the percentage that perk is used of all perks used at that rank.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/781/T8VE1J9V3G07.jpg

    Most Used Perks (Killer)

This chart shows the most popular Killer perks based on rank ranges between all platforms. Like the Survivor perks above, we decided not to show ranks 13-20. The number displayed are a percentage of the total perks used at that rank range.

Is there something that confuses you? Maybe you'd like to know a more precise number on one of these stats? I'll be doing a live Q&A in the official Dead by Daylight Discord server tomorrow at 2PM EST.

If you are not in the Official Discord server, you can join here: https://discord.gg/549m9NT

The Q&A will take place in the #game-discussion channel.

I like to switch up killers myself. I dont play spirit or nurse. I suck as them. But i like to try new things out. I tend to use at least one slowdown addons on Freddy.

Theres really no reason NOT to use a slowdown addon on Freddy. If your wanting to use his snares, your left with addons to help his teleport recharge...which Im not really waiting on whenever I wanna use it anyway, afew niche purple addons, the completely pointless block addons and 5 slowdown addons. If they made the blocks do something useful, I might use em but... atm I feel like Im kinda shoehorned into using at least 1 of his 5 slowdown addons, just due to a lack of decent choices.

I used to love clown but i suck so bad lately with Clown. I stopped playing Ghostface recently with the surge of antiheal Ghostface. I'm enjoying trapper of late.

I main Freddy, but I like to experiment with other killers and try to get good at them. Last month played alot of Bubba, and thinking of trying to practice Billy this month. Threads like this one that wants a cap on action speed slowdowns look past everything else I feel like. The guy who cant slow you down with Freddy's ropes will just slow you down with his dresses instead. Even loadouts like mine are considered "Forever Freddy" to some, even though it would go uncompletely unchanged by such change suggestions.

    Forever Freddy.jpg

The game in this picture lasted MAYBE 10 minutes, mostly due to me swapping targets and keeping gens regressing with surge resulting in only 1 gen done. Barely used my Pop...

  • I typically only go with an "EZ" or similar comment when its CLEARLY joking (The killer took pity on me and let me live). If the game ends right away from someone DCing on the loading screen, I might make some comments about how that was SUPER close, but those loops were just too much for me.

When ppl act this way for real though...its sad.

I don't usually need or use tracking perks. Only chase based perk i use is stbfl.

I like having BBQ for the bloodpoints, but I definitely take advantage of the aura reading aspect whenever possible. As far as chase perks, I use to be right there with ya for STBFL, but I found brutal strength works really well for Clown.

This is about right. There's only 3 types of perks in the game really; slowdown, tracking, and chase. If you don't need chase or tracking perks what else are you going to use?

Theres also perks that dont really fit any of those categories. Perks like Mad grit for example are just kinda...miscellaneous. For the most part your right. Theres also perks that fit MULTIPLE categories. Surge for example can offer abit of tracking apart from the obvious slowdown by letting you know which gen exploded, therefore which gen has been worked on. I like to have a healthy amount of each category, with it varying by killer.

It funnier when they go against tombstone myers as well.

Had it happen with Myers the other day. I was just using stalk addons, not tombstone but... Had a Feng try to body block for her teammate who was just unhooked. She obviously assumed I was trying to tunnel the guy, but in reality... SHE had plenty of stalk and he was completely out. I kept pretending to chase after him while secretly stalking her a lil at a time...then BAM T3!!!

Its also funny when ppl try to unhook infront of me as Myers and do the whole fake unhook thing so they dont get grabbed... Meanwhile I just stalk them so I can 1 shot without worry.

  • @akbays35 said:

Theoretically you could use a key, to trigger the egc early, open the hatch and see if the killer closes it and try to get the unhooks afterwards.

Except you immediately jump in the hatch when you use a key to open it.

  • The entire mode would just be filled with ppl wanting to farm rather than actually play. There would be no point selecting it for anything OTHER than farming challenges, and even then the challenges can conflict. You want unhooks, but the insidious bubba wants basement hooks.

  • @Revansith said:

My idea was the rift challenges could only be completed in the regular matches. This would encourage players to play regulars. Heck it would encourage players to play regulars so they dont have to worry about pips, but could run fun builds or try them out in a realistic environment.

It would leave ranked for being what it is without crazy challenges.

"Regular" matches would just be all farm matches.

yeah im talking about the challenge it only counts base.

You get awarded challenge points when you turn it in.

  • If you would NORMALLY get 25k, you'd get an extra 25k from BBQ assuming you got all 4 stacks, and then another 25k from pudding, putting you at 75k total.

That then ain't an issue, easier on pc as console not everyone can get messages (privacy settings)

On PC, you gotta add them as a friend before sending a message. I've had SOME luck being able to enter some streamers chats if I see TTV. I use to have fun with that and would message them "BPS or mori" instead of "farm or regular", just to see the look of confusion followed by a panicked "BLOODY PARTY STREAMERS!!"

They're possible but extremely annoying and time consuming. None of them are impossible but they're beyond obnoxious to do.

Alot of the ones that take a large number of broken pallets and such can take alot of time unless your farming, but some of em...like the bear trap one I just finished, can be done in 1 go. The only thing I'll really find annoying about the basement one is that I have to equip monsterous shrine.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/872189#Comment_872189

You can't control whether or not the killer tunnels someone. Again removing the near guaranteed safe rescue just means people will NOT do it in cases where they need to. While the situation you talk about does suck, it's no reason to remove the safe rescue aspect of BT because in doing so you just cause problems elsewhere.

I've seen the exact same situation you mention where the guy that got saved still survived because he was able to loop the killer for a long time too. So just because the killer decides to tunnel doesn't mean BT shouldn't give you guaranteed safe rescues. Without BT that dude would have just gone down immediately anyway because the killer would still tunnel them either way. You're just making it that much more effort to tunnel if you give BT.

You cant control the actions of the killer, only yourself. In this case, what determines a safe unhook isnt the unhooker being sneaky or trying to body block or anything like that...Its a perk. Your being awarded a bonus you wouldnt normally get because you equiped a perk. BT should be used to get your teammates out of a tough situation, not for the sake of farming points. I want ppl to equip it so they can use it responsibly, not equip it so they can farm me guilt free. If the only reason you equip it is for farming unhooks...id rather stay on the hook.

  • I actually JUST finished the Trapper one for 5 traps. These are do-able.

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/872165#Comment_872165

If you got hit with an unsafe rescue penalty when using BT like that it would de-incentivize saves in times when there literally is no other option. If the killer is camping sometimes you HAVE TO make the rescue in his face, and if that's going to happen you want BT to ensure you get a safe rescue. If it didn't, even if the guy just got hit and didn't go down, then people would just leave you to die negating the entire purpose of BT. Saving with BT is not braindead, it's done purposefully to give the guy BT. Your's is the same argument against DS plays "he made a stupid move" no he made a SMART move by utilizing his perk. It's like saying that a killer made a dumb move by eating a pallet with Spirit Fury active. No that IS the smart move to make.

You also have alot of ppl who just use BT as an excuse to farm their teammates. Ive seen ppl get tunneled down because someone does a yolo save 5 seconds after the killer hooks someone with the excuse that ALL saves with BT are automatically safe unhooks. Ive seen the game reward safe unhook points to someone who just farmed his teammate WHILE said teammate was getting moried...

  • You gotta catch the same guy 5 times, meaning he didnt get hooked and killed after the first 3.

  • They'll probably just port over the current version and you'll notice it'll run abit better. The game was initially released for PC, so doubt they'll do anything special really just because a new console generation comes out.

  • With how much the obsession changes due to a certain "anti-tunnel" perk, im sure it wont really be an issue.

"Shoot Michael Myers SIX TIMES"....I got this 😉

    and he STILL doesnt die

  • Ive just been farming the trapper ones. Bring a BPS in as a bribe and make it SUPER clear to the first person you down that you want them to step into the trap...then let them go.

Like anytime a survivor vomits in her TR she slowly fills up a bar?

I dunno. Maybe she has to collect vomit puddles or something like Oni does with his orbs. Im just spitballing here.
