As a killer main, i prefer playing in the safest map than on the deadliest ones

Kinda depends on the killer and playstyle really. If I'm trying to be sneaky and play Myers stealthfully, indoor maps are great so survivors dont see a white mask coming from 50 meters away. If I'm throwing stealth out the window with popping T3 and infectous fright... an open map like rotten fields just limits survivor safe locations.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

Not surprised the indoor maps have the highest kill rates. Nor that the farms and Haddonfield have the best survival rates.

Was very happy to see my favorite boogeyman Myers holding his own in the kill rates in both red ranks and across all ranks, too. Love ya, Mikey.

One stat that didn't surprise me was seeing Hag last in the popularity picks at red ranks because I hardly ever see her myself. It does make me wonder why though because she is a solid killer.

Hag is my least favorite to play against, so Im completely OK with her being unpopular. I just get so paranoid about stepping ANYWHERE when shes on the map.

  • Your abit late there. Freddy got nerfed right after he was released.

The one in the hatch room isn't visible unless you go looking for it, because it's tucked around the corner. The one near the gen is less than ideal, but overall Springwood has by far the best spawn locations.

Just hopin they find good "bush lvl" spawn locations for the other maps soon. Currently using ruin on my Myers, and its rough spawning in and seeing my ruin directly next to a gen on the other side of the map. I typically just count it as gone at that point, and do what I can with 3 perks. Now that I think about it, I swapped out ruin for Surge on my Freddy.... Might be time for a change on Myers.

  • @PistolTimb said:

Swfs can play with whomever they want. It would punish people trying to help new people learn the game instead of getting frustrated and quitting. Why is this even an issue exactly? You didn't really give any reasoning outisde of the killer getting an easier game.

I can understand OP's point. Joining a lobby and hoping to see other survivors at around your rank, only to see 2 of your teammates are being carried in over their heads by their friend can seem like the game is already a loss for you before it even starts. I know Overwatch has a limit feature in place for thie very reason, in that the highest and lowest ranked ppl in your premade team cant have too far of a difference in ranking.

  • @Fibijean said:

Fortunately, the devs are in the process of slowly working through reworking all the maps, and part of that is fixing hex totem spawns so that they're less obvious to find. Eventually, all the totem spawns will be like the ones on Springwood.

Feel like even Springwood has some questionable totems. The ones surrounded by bushes are nice, but the one right next to the school's downstairs gen location, or directly behind it next to the hatch location still suffer from the usual problem of being visible while your working on a gen. Overall though...Springwood is nice.

Insurance. Plus, it's fun to get messaged about using NOED when there are 3 gens left.

I use to use it on my OG Freddy build for this very reason. The amount of salt I got in endgame chat about being a bad killer who needs NOED is ridiculous when I would 4k with gens remaining.

  • He should have Billys speed, but way better control. Add in his ability to 1 shot and he'd be crazy good. Its weird the devs havent made a killer like this yet...-Giggles in Oni-

No, he was right and you both are misreading the perk. People tested it - it's only when you're stunned/blinded.

Wouldn't be surprised if it not working as its description states is unintended and going to be changed when he hits live.

  • Im gonna go with Detective's Hunch. It activating if ANYONE finishes a gen instead of it HAVING to be you is a pretty big change. Equip this perk and a map and insure ruin wont last longer than 1 gen.

  • @Ksoni said:

2 new oni perks are soo uselles too. First one, that's lets you read pallets and windows auras (and have a damm cooldown for whatever reason) is considered good for new players. But a new player, won't have 9000 shards immediately to buy oni and unlock he's perks. (Eventually 2700 to buy one from the shrine, but who would rather buy this crap instead of all the other good perks). And if this player will grind those 9000 shards and unlock this killer, will he be considered as a new player anymore? If you want to make noob-frendly perks, but them in base kits for everyone.

Second one, after hooking a surv, all injured survs will bleed more and have exhaustion. As i see this perk for the first time i think "Oh this perk would be good on Oni!" But after thinking awhile. Why would i pick this perk instead of sloppy butcher? It applies bleeding immediately AND makes healing slower. If you are alredy making a perk for specific character, make it actually good! The great example is legion.

You could make something on oni like. When you hit a healthy survivor. Every other survivor withing your terror radious is bleeding and have exhaustion for 45 seconds. This one have much more combo potential with other perks like disstresing or bloodhund. See? Much better.

    Now change my mind.

The first perk you mentioned is pretty much the killer version of Windows of oppertunity. If you can rationalize a new player getting Kate and her perks...Why not rationalize THIS? As far as the 2nd perk goes, I see this working incredibly well on Plague since EVERYONE is constantly injured. After hooking someone, as long as you start a chase within a reasonable time, you know that person is already exhausted and doesnt have dead hard or other exhaustion perks at the ready to help them.

No, you had it right, he made a mistake. Your build works - Nemesis will activate and show you the person's aura when they become the obsession after unhooking the current obsession (because Furtive Chase).

Thats what I thought, I just havent bothered doing much testing on the PTB. Ppl tend to just DC if your not playing as the new killer, even if your trying to test new perks.

  • @Pokerface303 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/865739#Comment_865739

Nemesis doesn't active though until the obsession stuns you so yea the myc would become the obsession but then you would have to find them and make them stun you which at that point the myc could already be out.

My bad, the perk said it shows the aura of the new obsession when the obsession changes. Was using that 3 perk combo on Wraith already, just figured that would be handy on it when I read it to fill the 4th slot. Typically running windstorm addons will get you back to the hook fast enough to find the savior before he goes far, build up some more PWYF stacks and 1 shot the savior.

  • It can be abit frusterating to lose the last guy due to an instant hatch, but still...you got 3 ppl and that extra kill wouldnt have really netted that much more points. Typically by the time endgame comes around, I already have all my BBQ stacks and such. In these situations, I just say my GGs and move on. Usually the only time hatch escapes annoy me is when I have the team SUPER pressured, just to see 2 or 3 escaping without finishing the last gen...after Ive been patroling all of em and making sure they have 0 progress... Still in that case, I just say my GGs and maybe throw in that that was a clutch hatch escape.

It's not even that they are releasing weak perks cus I could care less as long as it's fun that's all I'm asking for. But some or these perks serve literally no use. Take Furtive Chase for an example, name one time that perk is ever useful. Or Mind breaker, you would have to be a stealth killer at the start of the match and the person you find needs to have sprint burst for it to be useful. It's the same on the survivor side to for example premonition, why would you ever use that over spine chill. Buckle up serves no purpose because you know if somone is recovering if they are not moving and you know if the killer is coming by the heart beat so that parts pointless.

Furtive chase combined with the new nemesis and make your choice. The savior becomes the new obsession, which activates Nemesis' effect of showing their aura for you to go 1 shot them. Throw in PWYF for some extra fun. Works incredibly well on Wraith due to him being able to get around faster and break chase immediately.

  • Of all the perks to deem as bad, you went with Hope? That perk can make a person practically untouchable during endgame.

As far as other perks go, many times a perk will see nice synergy with other perks. Personally, I'm looking forward to slotting in nemesis to synergize with PWYF on Bubba, or use it to synergize with Judith's journal on Myers. Its completely ok that these perks dont become hugely meta with every build or every killer, as long as they dont become the next monstrous shrine lvl of completely uselessness.

That being said, the devs HAVE been going back and updating alot of the older perks to buff them up a little. I myself have been using detective's hunch alot more now after its update, and I'm sure you might see more BoP after this next update.

  • I might give the first survivor more of my time depending on how theyre playing. If I'm running Bubba and theyre going from 1 pallet to the next on one side of the map to camp each and insta-throw them... Yeah, you get my attention. I dont care if I lose 3 gens to this guy, I know for sure him and his team arnt getting any of the gens on this side of the map now, lol.

Well, as a survivor main, although I do have a few killers significantly levelled, I don't go out of my way to play killer just to get bloodpoints for survivor. That said, I care relatively little about bloodpoint efficiency. I play survivor because I enjoy it, and I waste millions of BP prestiging characters because I'm a completionist. But I can imagine that those who do care about levelling characters efficiently might use killer to get extra bloodpoints at times.

It's probably pretty uncommon, though. I suspect most survivor mains, given a choice between playing a bunch of killer for extra bloodpoints or playing their preferred role and enduring the BP penalty, would choose the latter.

That's what I figured... I'm a killer main and only play survivor when it tickles my fancy for a game or two.

Body blocking worked a lot better in the past. Now it generally just gets you injured unless the whole team is in on it or the killer is struggling a bit.

OP is talking about AFTER unhooking, not while the killer is holding the survivor.

  • @Fibijean said:

Well, it would make killers much more powerful in comparison to survivors at the same level, because the fact that killers earn more bloodpoints per match on average would make killers easier to level up if you could only spend bloodpoints on the role you earned them with.

If the goal is to prevent people from farming points as killer to spend on survivors, a better idea would be to simply buff survivor bloodpoint gains so that the average survivor earns around the same as the average killer per match. That way, there's no longer any incentive to change roles just for extra bloodpoint gains.

Not that I think that using killer to farm survivor bloodpoints is a problem in the first place - it can affect queue times, but it also encourages people to play different roles more often, which can only be a good thing where the health of the community is concerned.

Is this even a common thing? I know alot of survivor mains who dont even have a killer lvled up past like lvl 10. Is it common for a survivor main to swap over to killer when they get low on BPs?

    in a Comment by LordGlint
  • If the perk is as situational as you suggest, you shouldn't even notice it not working multiple times per chase. You still can get the stagger reduction once per chase, and since it's a super situational perk... You should be fine.

  • I don't think there would be much difference. As a killer main, I obviously blow WAY more BPs on killer than survivor. I have every killer lvled and only 1 survivor has all the perks I like using.

Bloodpoints?? I'm usually not the person asking for compensations, but if anything I'd rather have a few rift fragments. You can earn your bloodpoints later, the rift closes at some point. I've had awfully little time to play recently, e.g. my employer sent me to a conference last week Wed-Sun and I was out of town the entire time. Tomorrow night I'm also out for a concert right after work and won't return until after midnight. Yesterday we had a birthday dinner in the family. Those are all my personal "problems" nobody's responsible for, but I really badly wanted to make up for these things by playing as much as I could today, and now I have zero progress today, too ... We won't get anything, though, so there's no point in asking. It's just bad luck.

Im already pretty much maxed out on BPs anyway, lol.

Rocket League and Paladins both Cross Play.

On Rocket League I use KB/M and fair quite well, but people say controller is way easier and will make you better. I could never get used to it, even with over 1k hours.

Paladins also has Cross Play, while I think PC players have an advantage, you can't just count out console players. Many of them are quite good, despite the advantage we may believe we have.

My 2 quick examples, not much detail, sorry.

But I have a friend who is playing the new Modern Warfare on PS4, he says it has cross play. From his point of view, while PC may be great and all, he dumped on plenty of PC players just recently. It changes game to game of course, who knows? He also plays DBD on PS4.

You gotta let them play against the supposed advantaged players to actually gauge anything.

Feel like games with ranks will also generally help separate you from players who are just gonna demolish you anyway.

  • @Fibijean said:

Could be an awesome feature, if implemented well. It would solve a lot of the current problems with matchmaking by expanding the overall playerbase significantly.

As you pointed out, the main barrier between PC and console is the hardware limitations console players have to deal with. If keyboard and mouse support were added to the console versions of the game, I think crossplay could be a great addition.

Pretty sure kb/m support is just a matter of time at this point. So many members of the forums are console users...would be nice to see just how good theyd do against me, lol.

how can the killer end it if there are gens needing to be done he cant go and open the door until all gens are done. this is holding the game hostage with proof of them admitting to doing so.

Because its still possible to end the game other than DCing by finding the survivors. I dont agree with it, but thats how the devs have defined it and answered that very question in the past.

Which begs the question, how would these addons be 'fixed'? Reducing duration won't matter unless it's brought to like 5 seconds which could add counterplay in managing their new exhaustion, but if brought that low would killers end up running them? A single bit of lost los could give you the time you need to lose that exhaustion. Biggest issue is nerfing them so far they just end up being unused on the few killers that do have such addons (I honestly wish there were more even though I was on the receiving end against a huntress).

I think its alright tbh. The only exhaustion perk being completely countered by them is dead hard. Sprint burst gets used as soon as the chase starts anyway, and you COULD use your BL or Lithe early on in the chase. I was just saying the 90 second timer was just overkill. Thats like having an addon on Myers that makes EW3 do 5 times dmg instead of just 2, lol.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

The 90 second exhaustion add on for huntress is just brutal

Its also typically unnecessary, lol. Since exhaustion doesnt go down while running, if she hits you with a hatchet to apply it...unless you manage to evade her, your not gonna get the timer down even if just using the brown version.

  • Killers already had a means of tracking injured survivors in the form of blood pools that get left behind.

  • @DWolfAlpha said:

I have a question. Does BL activate if you don't sprint after landing? Does it still cause exhaustion if you walk away first?

The issues with MOST maps were only issues because Balanced Landing existed in its current state.

There's no sense in reworking like 20 maps and limiting future design to cater for a broken perk, rather than just fixing up the perk.

Not to mention if you balance the map around balanced landing, you're kinda screwing over everyone who's NOT using the perk.
