  • Feel like it depends on the challenge. Theres plenty of challenges that you'd likely achieve through normal playing, such as kill X amount of survivors or do X amount of gens. Other challenges are likely to incentivize people to pretty much throw a match, such as when survivors have to open 5 chests in a single match for example... Thats way too many chests for a single survivor to realistically find use of the items in said chests, therefore mostly just a waste of time. Then theres challenges like the one you mentioned where its certainly possible to achieve on a normal game, but just easier if you tilt the odds in your favor. Kill 4 survivors by any means for example just means get a 4k, but...a mori makes that easier.

  • I've seen afew examples in videos of pretty interesting uses for it, although I cant remember the titles otherwise Id simply link them to ya. In one, a killer chased a survivor off a generator, only to wait near it for abit knowing the survivor would come back and managed to get a pretty sweet gen grab. In another, someone was doing the evil incarnate achievement as Myers. As you would expect, there came a point where a survivor jump into a locker to avoid a mori, so the Myers walked around the corner and activated insidious to trick the survivor into coming out.

Personally, I think a rework of the perk to allow it to be used for none camping purposes while limiting the camping benefits would be nice.

  • Just out of curiosity, would you mind linking the spot that the devs themselves have defined tunneling?

What makes you think he is a toxic survivor main? He said perks arent toxic that applies to both killer and survivor. Just because he has a different opinion then you dosent make him a toxic survivor main. Killers always say tunneling and camping isnt toxic cause its playing optimally. so why shouldn't survivors use there perks and items optimally? And he is correct the perks arnt toxic its the player who is toxic. Why do player have to be so entitled?

Was just a running joke mate. I constantly chime in when I see him in a thread and say something about him being a something something survivor main.

This has absolutely nothing to do with why survivors don't respect killers.

The reason survivors don't respect killers is because survivors are the power role and they don't need to respect them. They are strong enough that they can play with the killer and don't feel threatened.

Your clearly just saying that because you've never been facecamped on first hook by a Bubba, lol

Just used Autodidact, as a matter of fact. What a coincidence. Imagine being able to do almost a whole ass gen with one skill check, oh man.

I'd argue that Franklin's can actually be pretty useful against toolboxes, but it requires effort and maybe even skill, unlike old Ruin. Survivors waste a lot of time looking for those toolboxes after they drop them. I sometimes bring in a brown toolbox just to try to bait out the Franklin's. There are also hook sabotaging challenges, don't forget. How dare survivors try to get bloodpoints! That's only for killers who have the chance to get double bp every game with BBQ.

What's your excuse for all the other perks that slow down gens since you think Franklin's doesn't work?

Im gonna specify again since you simplified what I said... Franklins doesnt work at countering toolboxes, not that it doesnt work at all. As far as killer slowdown perks, they're often times equal in power as many survivor speed up perks. While a killer can apply thana to slowdown survivors for being injured for example, resilience can speed up the same survivor for being injured. The numbers with Thana can vary abit depending on how many survivors are injured (and alive), but other than that I think its a decent comparison.

I dont know why your bringing up BPs in a conversation about toolboxes since the 2 dont go hand in hand at all.

I love the hillbilly answer lmfao the rank means nothing being survivor while being killer tells you more. Ive never met a red rank killer that plays like a newbie, maybe bad day but never as some 20 rank gameplay red ranks

I spent the weekend before just memeing around, knowing I'd depip alot. You can run tomestone Myers for example...and depip with a 4k. I went from red ranked to rank 11 before I started going back down again, which is one reason why I said that. Currently I'm sitting pretty at rank 2.

Funniest thing I like to do is run a Slugging build with Nurse's Calling, if the guy is picked up in my face, I'll down him immediately and let them all bleed out, I will do it over and over, it's productive and it's a way to win.

Typically when someone is trying to heal a slug right infront of me, I assume hes commiting because the slug is almost heal, so instead of swinging and hiting the healer...Ill wait a second, lol.

If I could direct you to the dbd wiki (not official, I know, however is the best source of info we have), you can see that killer instinct shows anyone within the terror radius. Therfore, Dark Devotion will show anyone within the obsession's terror radius, as it's classed as that of the Legion. Therefore, it doesn't act weird, as it interacts with the terror radius like all other terror radius perks. Think of KI as similar to Unnerving Presence, it works within the terror radius currently emitted.

Legions case though isnt solely reliant on the TR though. If you'll note, The never sleep pills for example can increase the detection range while not affecting the actual TR.

If you're familiar with gen rushing you know the go to is Commodius with the speed addons not BNPs lol

Franklins gets it's value almost every match you use it if you spot a full team running Items.

Depends on the addon your replacing the BNP for. A clean rag for example gives the toolbox a boost of 5% over it's 180 charges. This means that if you manage to use up every bit of that toolbox, the rag alone will be responsible in saving...9 seconds. In this case, the instant 20 seconds saved from a BNP would be greater. A commodious with socket swivels and a BNP can allow a single person to pump out a gen in roughly 40 seconds without any perk adding to that. That quick burst from the BNP could be the difference between finishing a first gen alone before the killer can cross the map to stop you and it being just MOSTLY done and kicked later with a Pop. Can't Pop a gen if its already finished...

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1072443#Comment_1072443

I cannot tell you the last time I saw someone use a BNP. And so many moris go unused because they're so god damn common. I get more ebony moris than I get certain green and purple add ons and items combined on the survivor side of things. And I just had a game where a killer tunneled and mori'd someone out of the game in about 60 seconds. No one brought a toolbox.

And there's always Franklin's, or any of the other dozen or so perks that slow down gens.

As far as Franklins goes...I already explained earlier in this post why they're ineffective for countering toolboxes. I'll just copy and paste that real quick...

The problem with Franklins is the only toolbox its countering is the one not being used. The other toolboxes are still gonna pump out gens faster until its their turn to be chased, and things like BNPs are going to get their values worth before you ever start a chase with the person holding it.

Franklins is decent at countering medkits, since often times you can chip enough charges off it of to deny a full heal or cause the person to be unable to use the instaheal it has for the 2nd half of the chase. Its also decent at countering flashlights since those are something that is going to be used midchase, meaning no blinding at pallets after you smack it out of their hand. Against toolboxes and keys though...Franklins doesnt do much.

As far as rarity of toolboxes goes, its pretty hard to gauge that since they can be used for multiple trials and even found in chests IN the trial. If you can use the same toolbox for 5 trials, can you really compare that rarity against killer addons that are for 1 time uses? As far as slowdown perks go...generally a killer has to work toward building those up throughout the trial, as opposed to the instant boost gained from a toolbox. If you wanted to have a similar comparison to most killer slowdown perks, you could look towards the perk autodidact in that you have to work towards a powerful affect that you dont just get access to. The speed boost from autodidact can then be very similar in nature to the slowdown of something like dying light.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/127843/the-audacity-of-survivors-bringing-toolboxes

Please, killers dodge if they don't like certain cosmetics. I personally don't bring toolboxes but I don't blame people who do, considering the point of the game is to complete gens and escape, and you know, they exist in the game.

Just because something exists, doesnt mean it should be used often.

    20200106174950_1.jpg

I personally try not to waste my BPs on moris, but still end up building up quite the collection of ones I'm forced to buy because the entity wont eat them. The amount of moris that go unused in general is actually pretty staggering, because they generally are just an unfair boost with no real downside. A stacked up toolbox pumping your repair speed up an additional 40%, plus a BNP with it is similarly...an unfair boost with no real downside. I place things like this in the same lot as things that are used by people who are after an unfair advantage rather than a fun game.

On the flip side, I get 'DocequalsDC' survivors all the time. I mostly run Trapper, but will switch to Doc just to test their integrity. I'll often farm with the other 3 or at least take the foot off the pedal a bit.

Gen speed is too slow! Nerf all slowdown Perks and their synergies!

Holy #########... and they wonder why Killers bring Moris, Franklin's, and play "toxic". Good job getting two of them.

This was the loadout I was using back in November. Resulted in fast games due to no slowdown perks, but they were interesting for me anyways since I got to play rather aggressive with infectious fright and monitor. Was just rough, expecially with the Haddonfield offering.

As far as genspeed perks/addons go... I do find it odd that they choose to address "Forever Freddy" because he could slowdown gens after using his entire perk and addon setup and building up stacks... when survivors can bring a stacked toolbox to speed them up by the same amount and it be at that strength at the very beginning of the trial. Personally, this is my Freddy setup of choice...

    20200113104641_1.jpg

so not much action speed slowdown going on here, but yeah...it was the addons and the addons alone that were a "problem"

    People need to chill.

I mean there's a rift challenge to sabo hooks, which requires, guess what, a toolbox.

Also it is not even possible to tell what item is used. Most of the time I only bring a brown toolbox or brown medkit just to bring something. Not everyone uses a bnp or bs. I just don't like that dodging behaviour in general. If you see a group with 4 toolboxes, I kinda can understand. But some dodge even when they see one, which is overreacting imo.

If killers bring a mori, survivors also have to deal with it. If I get camped by a huntress with iri hatchets, i also have to deal with it. Everyone needs to take a breath and chill a bit about this game. The only reason it lost it's fun is because everyone is taking it too serious imo.

Unfortunately, killers cant tell if its a brown toolbox in your hand for a daily to sabo a hook, or if theyre walking into this...

The only logical way to remove his facecamp capabilities is to make it so when he reaches 100% on his saw, it goes. Also, adding like a 5 second cooldown so he can't immediately rev up again. If that were to happen, he would need so many buffs to help his in chase potential. Whether it's by increasing his speed, acceleration, I don't know, but I do know it will make him more oppressive during chases and less while face camping.

I wouldnt mind some variant of what you suggested. Maybe allow him to do similar feathering mindgames like Billy does without worrying about a cooldown when he doesnt actually activate the ability. Currently the only time I ever charge a saw and keep it charged during a chase is when I'm pressuring a survivor from making an early run before I saw a pallet. Gives them a little less distance. What if Bubba had a similar charge as Billy in that he can manually hold it at 95% or so? It would at least make campinng with a revved saw abit more of a pain in the ass while still allowing him to use the mechanic in chases.

Try playing with PWYF and maybe Nemesis to pair with it. It makes him alot less addon dependent.

    20191207214143_1.jpg

I use to use the same addon combo you do, but with the speed boost of PWYF, I was able to branch out and screw around with weaker addons or none at all.

  • Infectous fright is a nice perk on killers who can make chases end quickly. By that, I'm not just talking about killers with great chase powers, but also just any killer with an instadown. I use to run it on Bubba without ruin before the ruin changes hit.

    20191206014811_1.jpg

New ruin though I've been trying out on afew killers with surveillance. Knowing exactly when a survivor hops on a gen when they think your busy has landed me alot of freebe hits because of it. Been having alot of luck with it on Myers for example, which is a killer that has a horrible early game.

Its also got me playing Legion, which is usually just an idea I randomly get and then regret. Using this build though had proven pretty fun and pretty decent...

In my experience, I've found many killers to be just as entitled and whiney. Played a bit of survivor on Wednesday with the wife. Had a daily to open gate and escape with claudette. Ran DWM, WMI, IS, DH with no item and brown BP offering. First match I get chased for 2 minutes and face camped. Ok, but he plays normal after that. Ask why he did it, he said "Claudette is OP and anyone who runs her immersed gets face camped." Problem is, I was not immersed. I was working a gen in killer shack when I took aggro so the other could run.

Second match, I get tunneled and mori. Again, killer says it was because I ran Claudette. Never mind the fact I usually play killer and only ran Claud for the daily, according to the killer, I was toxic for running her.

I've seen killers tunnel, camp or mori for bringing a key, or flashlight, or using Sprint Burst, looping, etc. Killers can be just as entitled as survivors.

That said, the survivors in the OP's situation were entitled PLAYERS. Nobody likes NOED, but so what? Next game.

Might not be much, but abit of difference there is that you literally asked. The killer in question didnt come into the chat saying "ALL CLAUDETTES SHOULD DIE!!!", you opened that can of worms. The chat couldve very well had only contained everyone saying GG instead.

Survivors complaining about me using NoEd doesn't make me feel bad for using it, it makes me want to use it even more. It's not my fault that matches are going at mach 3, nor is it my fault that they can't do totems.

I am playing hag now, just to give her another shot since I shelved her due to her low point of view. She is surprisingly very effective if you trap the crap out of hooks, gates and windows. I am growing fond of her now. She kind of needs NoEd to make up for her slowness if everyone crouches everywhere.

I don't know why I made this thread anymore. You're right about them trying to save their dignity. I'm just going to go back to saying gg and leaving. If I see salt, I'll just write ggEZ then leave. I had one guy that got very angry that I keep my steam profile as private. Like, why do you need to see it? People are just crazy I guess.

I turned my steam profile to private as soon as someone got weird and stalkerish during endgame chat once... When you start using my real name in chat all threateningly...yeah...

As far as the GG thing goes, I always say GG whether I win or lose. If someone gets salty, dont gotta slink down to their lvl with namecalling or something. This is my typical way of responding...

    20200104134003_1.jpg

    or...

    20191206021334_1.jpg

    or...

    20191027223640_1.jpg

Point being, dont let it rile you up. If you go in with "WELL YOU USED _____ and ____ PERKS SO..." then give them the response they want.

Sidenote... being overly nice to someone whos trying to put you down is great. I remember screw around with Bubba and just Facecamping everyone. 1 guy got out that game and proceeded to start bashing me in endgame chat. My endgame chat was just alot of "GGs everyone, that was a fun match, I thought I was only gonna get a tie with a 2k, but I managed to get a 3k win...yay". The got who escaped then pointed out that he got more points than me. My response "Sweet, we BOTH win, go us".

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1071761#Comment_1071761

Well the difference is that if a survivor matched DS+Unbreakable together, it's essentially uncounterable, where you cant even touch him. Where as if I did ruin + surveillance, both are easily counter, where you break the totem, keep on the gen, and fake out the highlighted gen.

Once again, I already said some things have counters and some dont. To go into the examples provided... Whereas the best you can do against someone with DS+unbreakable is waste abit of their time and make em use the unbreakable (unless you think you can down them again quickly after a DS), survivors are in similar situations with killer perk combos like enduring+spirit fury. While you can argue to toss the pallet early and dont stun the killer, thats often times not possible with many pallets being very unsafe and their sole usefulness being to stun the killer.

The idea of both sides have perks that can be countered and both sides having perks that cant really be countered doesnt go out the window when you bring up perk combos.

  • When people start throwing shade on your loadout after they lost, they're just trying to grab at some dignity rather than lose with dignity and say GG. Its an attempt to discredit their opponents of outplaying them by saying SOMETHING they had made it unfair, even if it makes no sense. I use to use NOED all the time on OG Freddy so I could have some power in endgame situations where Id just have to watch people save right in my face with nothing I could do about it except for wait for them to fall asleep. At least with NOED, I could down them before they could run out the exit gates. Id still have people throw shade at me for using it though, even if I slaughtered their team with 4 or 5 gens to go and NOED never having been in affect.

you're really rude. there is logical reasoning to it , I wanted to know why killers and their perks have so many counters but survivors dont.

It's not bait, there is "logical "reasoning. because if they wanted it to be balanced they would make it the same on both sides.

Theres counters to both sides. Slugging is countered by unbreakable, while aura reading perks like OoO is countered by blindness perks/addons or the undetectable status effect. DS counters tunneling (and then some, lol) while exhaustion perks like blood echo, or exhaustion addons like Clown's Solvent jug counter exhaustion perks like Dead hard. I could go on with a dozen more examples if you want.

That being said, both sides also have things that dont really have counters to them. Survivors arn't gonna be able to counter something like agitation for example since its just a sort of self buff and not really for interacting with a survivor. Same can be said for survivor buffing perks like botany knowledge. While you can attempt to hinder what the perks are providing by using sloppy butcher against the botany knowledge or body blocking a killer using agitation with more blows than if the killer DIDNT have agitation... both perks are still having a positive gain to their users.

What about people that are not close enough to a server to get <150ms ping? Should we now punish people because the developers were too greedy to add more servers?

But at the end of the day, this doesn't solve the problems of dedicated servers. Which is that they increase the interaction latency between killer and survivor by putting a 3rd party between them. On the peer-to-peer system people could be consistently matched with people close to the, no matter what region they reside in.

    2 things to this...

For your first comment about connecting to servers close to you, using a VPN would only make that problem worse. Even if NORMALLY you dont have a server relatively close to you, its not gonna help by connecting to a server on the other side of the world. This was the problem PUBG had when the US servers were packed with Chinese players since you could simply pick your region from a list instead of ithe game detecting it.

For your 2nd point... Dedicated servers kinda hide what your getting into. With the old Peer-to-peer system, I could at least see the ping of the person I was connected to at the lobby and use that information to decide if I want to get into this game or not. With the dedicated servers, I just get a server telling me its all good since my own connection to it is fine, without letting me know that the person I'm playing against is actually the Mars rover.

I see your point but they do hop in lockers against the doc so it is a common occurrence and even it procs once that exposed can help snowball the game

The exposed from ironmaiden is very rarely helpful due to how quickly it goes away. If you run whispers on the other hand and use your static blast, it can tell you pretty easily if someone is in a locker. Whispers is on and no one screams? They either have calm spirit or are in a locker. If your using the restraint addons for Doc, you'll still see the auras of calm spirit users and you'll likely notice the point bonus for hitting them with static blast anyways. If you can deduce their in a locker...yank em out, lol.

That's why I say rational survivors. The reason might not be immediately obvious. But it's typically not hard to work out why they're doing something. In the example you gave, I'd probably just assume you were camping. Until I read your addons at end game.

I had something similar the other day as Doc. I downed somebody and carried them to the basement. As I was taking them down I heard a survivor running above us. I went back upstairs and checked a locker. They hoped out of the other one. I chased and hit them. Turned and saw another survivor coming for the save. I chased and hit them. About then the person on the hook DC'S. I'm sure they thought I was camping. When in reality I just happened to notice the two nearby.

Sometimes it would be nice if we could share highlights so you could point out the stray scratch marks and say "THATS why I didn't run to the other side of the map", lol.

Lol. Why are they using a BnP with a saw and sabo toolbox?

I think most rational survivors understand strategic slugging. It's when they try to slug everyone before hooking anybody that it's annoying.

Sometimes the reasoning isn't obvious. The survivor on the ground might not know you saw their teammates scratch marks and could just assume your being a dick. One reason I feel like there's so much bitterness is the gap between the killers reasoning and the survivors understanding.

I remember playing Vanity mirror Myers one time and being in the perfect position between a hooked survivor and all 3 teammates circled around. No one knew I saw EVERYONE and I knew they were the ones who were on the clock and had to act first. We had ourselves a little standoff, lol. To me, it was obviously the right play. To them, I was just a camper and their presence was coincidence.

    Let me rephrase:

I care very little for opinions that lack nuance or come off as entitled / emotionally imbalanced. There are several who offer absolutely nothing to these conversations and have a thread history of behaving exactly like Calabrum.

That being said, my opinion and observations won't change; so arguing with me is pointless. I did however appreciate your perspective.

Typically it's always good to be open to feedback when posting threads. Personally, I've been having decent results with new ruin when I use it, but I can understand why it can feel like a kick in the teeth. Devs recently hit Freddy's slowdown add-ons and made it known they're looking to make slowdown effects not work together, while survivor speed up add-ons and perks are unhampered. Very much makes it seem like this isn't the last we'll see of it, but... We'll have to wait and see.

Sidenote, if your checking post history, you'll likely notice a pattern on many of my threads. I typically end it with "thoughts?" or pose the title as a question in an effort to start a conversation rather than just acting to end it. Saying "you can't change my mind" is likely to just result in you effectly speaking to a wall instead of people. While it's true that you have super bias people on both sides here... Your effectly killing conversation with anyone.

I'm not interested in your opinion or if people agree with me or not.

You're not entitled to be taken seriously by me either.

I made a post with my own observation and some disagreed / didn't like it. That's not my problem either.

There's absolutely zero nuance in the responses contradicting me anyway, so since I've made this post; I feel even more adamant that I'm correct in my stance.

If your games are more challenging now, could that also be caused by more potato teammates being pushed to rank 1? The people who use to have gen phobia and would urban evade around the map looking for ruin until they die... are ranking up and joining your lobby. Them going down quickly doesn't necessarily mean the killers are better, but is likely a mixture of both.

As far as not caring about other opinions... If you flag your post and tell a mod to close it after making your initial post, you won't be bugged with notifications that you don't care to read and noone will confuse your intentions in thinking you wanted feedback.

For some matches that was definitely a possibility, but I'm 100 percent sure of a few matches that were just not even debatable. I've been left on the floor after leading the killer away from my entire team. I was basically never hooked the entire match a couple times earlier today.

I know I've been saved from death hook because the killer was running an obsession perk and didn't wanna kill me off too soon. There's really a number of reasons players might act certain ways that sometimes might not be initially clear. It could also be a simple missplay. He could have suspected a gen was being worked on and about to pop that was nowhere near completing.

I get that but I can't pretend like I haven't seen them just leave someone on the ground with absolutely no vision on another survivor. DS wasn't a factor in a majority of those I've witnessed as well. I don't mind slugging and I get it's necessary sometimes, but I don't want to see a passive unbreakable being introduced and I feel it's coming at this rate.

If it was like one time per match before a certain amount of gens are done, I guess it's fine. I just don't think a passive unbreakable is balanced after all 5 gens pop. That would be too much IMO.

Could it be possible that the killer saw something you didnt? I'm not saying its not possible that the killer merely didnt know when its appropriate to slug and when its a waste of time, but sometimes things like discordance lets you know when your attention is needed elsewhere to prevent a gen from popping while your busy getting to a hook.

Ironically, slugging creates a second objective for survivors I guess.

Wouldnt really consider altruism a 2nd objective. It's doing the same for survivors that unhooking is doing, the only difference being the killer isnt taking the time to pick up the survivor. Its typically while one survivor is picked up that the rest of the team can get easy saves on another survivor who's hooked. Leave someone on the ground and that save isnt so easy.

  • @Regionlock said:

I don't mind when used for pressure after a few gens go but people have been slugging on the first down. I've seen multiple bleed out at this point. It's actually insane lol

Trying to bleed people out is dumb, but really...its never too early to start applying pressure. If I can get a 2nd person down, I'm not just gonna let em run along because X amount of gens havent been done yet and I'm not in a bad position yet.

Because when you slug you still depip because BHVR "doesn't want you to play that way" so they only reward you if you hook everyone. Half the time if people DC i still depip.

Never said go for a 1 hook kill on everyone, but if you can get aggressive and push survivor into the defensive, they wont be on gens. Even if its just a matter of injuring afew before picking up your slug, its something.

I'd consider that more of an aggressive perk then second chance as it lets you get away with riskier and more aggressive swings rather then helping you out while your behind in a game.

Unrelenting doesnt allow you to be more aggressive, it simply lessens the punishment when you miss. Perks like Save the best for last and infectious fright allow for aggressive plays.

And the killer can ensure NOED comes into play by defending the totems, if it comes to that. I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but the fact is the killer can employ strategies to prevent DS from coming into play if they choose to, which was the logic that the person I was replying to was using as a basis on which to claim that NOED wasn't a second chance perk. If NOED isn't a second chance perk by that logic then DS isn't either (and we all know that's not true).

Just throwing this out there, but 2nd chance doesnt necessarily have to mean its a good perk but rather it helps you make up for a screw up. Point being...how come no ones mentioned unrelenting, lol?

He needs to lose the gen slowdown add ons. He shouldn’t get free gen slowdown for no reason with no effort required. He could go afk and still get that effect on survivors.

What would you have them do instead?
