  • I finished my premium pass. I just made it so every time release I would do 20 levels. Which was quite reasonable. The time tome 4 dropped I was around 63.

I wont be buying it again however. Passes are supposed to be reasonable. These were kinda to the point you either grind one week per tome or you will have to pay. Not very reasonable.

I think most prestiged cosmetics are pretty hideous. The only notable exception is the Myers mask. Everything else looks like they dumped a jar of strawberry jelly all over the killers and survivor.

Leatherface P2 outfit looks good imho.

So I've been wondering as we head into 2020, throughout DBD's life, what's been your experiences of praise Vs toxic or abusive messages that have stuck with you, and what's the ratio of these messages?

To give some context of my experiences:

    Platform: PS4

Time played: Devotion 3 LV 50 (as it's on PS4 no idea how many hours this equates to)

    Killer/Survivor Ratio: 50/50

    Ranks: Purples/Reds

In my experience the messages I've received have almost always been toxic/negative and only today have I received my first ever compliment/praise after the game, which caused me to ponder if this was the norm or the exception.

On PS4 it's a real pain to message as there's no chat box, only the PSN menu which ain't the best to use. As a survivor, I've never received a message from a killer, but as a solo player who doesn't hang around to troll the killer, I guess there's not much to say. As a killer on the other hand, I'd say one out of every 10-15 games I'd receive some form of hate mail. If SWF are involved the likely hood of this tends to be much higher, as I think they need something to do while they wait for their friends still alive to die/escape. While I don't often camp/tunnel etc, if a certain survivor/survivor team decide to teabag etc, I will do whatever is needed for me to enjoy that game. From time to time, I will use Mori's/let the last survivor go, but I don't make a habit of either. I consider this a fairly normal attitude to the killer role. The amount of messages has always felt fairly high to me, but then I remember the days of CoD and all the on mic trash talking and it all seems a wee bit more normal.

A negative experience that has stuck with me, was a particularly sweaty game of Hillbilly Vs SWF, quite a while back. I felt both sides played well, and in the end despite all the gens being completed, none of the survivors made it out. My inbox was flooded with 10 plus messages of misspelt, angry, insulting mails and the fact I reported and ignored them seem to infuriating them more, as they spammed me over the next hour. Blocked and ignored but it stuck with me, how entitled some people felt that they should be allowed to escape because of XYZ. This is something I see often, but unless I as the killer feel like being merciful or wish to reward a good player with a bad team and allow them the hatch, then I don't feel they're entitled to anything.

Now on the other side of this, the positive mail I received today complimented me on my Devour Hope usage. Playing Piggy on Lampkin, things are pretty fairly matched, Devour hits 5 stacks and that's the end of that match for them. Received a nice message complimenting the surprise use of the perk. Was a lovely change in the sea of hate mail, as I was fully expecting it to be hate.

It got me wondering, what ratio of positive to negative hate mail do players receive and does platform make a difference when the chatbox is right there after a game, making the prospect of saying GG much easier? Thanks for your replies below.

I contacted PSN a few days ago we should have a email regarding our yearly play history. Like we did last year. I was curious since I'm also Devotion 5 lvl 25.

  • She has a lot going for her, but really mostly she just needs a few minor tweaks towards the stealth mechanics. Her biggest issue is her roar notification on the charge bar, crouching speed, crouch movement, and her PoV when crouched is pretty low. The Devs mentioned that they were doing changes to her addons. Flew in a well respected Pig main, but that was the last I heard of it.

Only reason I have issues with the crouching speed is for a killer who tries to mind game pallets with her Ambush dash. Both are incredibly bad for those.

Honestly, I've had this thought before too. Maybe not amazing abilities that make certain perks not worth it, but something like Claudette heals 1% faster, Meg sprints 1% faster, or Kate progresses her wiggle timer 1% faster. Nothing drastic, but something to make each survivor more than just a skin.

Bill didn't highjack unassigned perks. They were always his, but he was only on PC, so they made his perks available for everyone on console. When he came to console, his perks were reassigned to him.

Lol I was wondering if anyone had mentioned this.

Not quite sure why, but I thought I saw Torchlight 2 in there and was like "I know it was better received then Diablo at release, but still?"

A hot topic nowadays is the swf nightmare that consoles killers face. If you didn't know, like me,in PlayStation platforms and Xbox killers are faced with swf almost 100% of the time.

The raw ability of communication is powerful. In addition to this, most swf have a red rank survivor that knows how to loop some purple and 20% of the time green. And I'm talking whenever you play in the GREEN ranks as killer.

So what can be done to make the game a bit more balanced, without damaging the random survivor experience? I suggest to either make it so A.the killer gets some kind of rewards (extra pb,protection against loss of add-ons ),make swf to have only 2 players or just delete swf and make it available only in costum games.

What do you guys think. Let me know down below.

Does it really matter? It's not nearly as stressful as you think once you learn to deal with the SwF. How do I know this you might ask. PS4 was one of the platforms I played on continuously. Most of them are honestly just normal friends playing that aren't very good it's just the communication that hurts. Normal friends won't be able to destroy you easily though since they dont go hardcore.

Remember you need to force them off gens. Know when and where to slug, when and where to hook it significantly helps. Do you chase too long without a reward? Pallet or Hit? Outplayed at loops? How long until your first down? Everything matters from the second everyone can move. Do your perks give you the intended benefit and value every game or is it time to experiment and replace?

Running a YT video build is cool and all, but does it cover your weaknesses? Learn what your weaknesses are and your killer's learn to push your strengths. Having a main killer you play helps here. Learn to play them and 4k without Ruin and get multiple wins. It really helps if you also don't use addons much either it's not a priority though.

Just because a PC streamer says "this is the build for X killer" does not always mean it's good for a console killer or you or even other PC players. When you look at your killer ask yourself why do YOU run this perk? Do you look at the lobbies before hitting ready? What are they bringing? If you see 4 medkits a nice counter is Plague, Hag or a instadown killer. 4 flashlights do you bait the free hit or just stare at a wall?

When you spawn in do you look at gens and plan for the late game or head straight to survivor spawn? Do you check on your totem? Seriously don't. If possible even drag survivors away from it by not noticing the hook and make sure you put yourself in a way that you dont see the hook so it's less obvious to them.

While it sounds like a lot to process it's not like you need to be a perfect killer to win your matches. All you need to really win is make survivors waste effectively more time than you need at the most base level. It does not matter if it's 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Gens Remaining or even if the Gates themselves are powered you can still win.

I just completed the challenge... and I feel bad

I hate to use everything in the game just to complete the challenge, like slugging, tunneling, proxy camping.. I don't like these tactics as they ruin survivor's fun. I have never played the game like this before, but I'm forced to do so just to complete the challenge.

i don't know why devs decided to make this a challenge. This challenge promotes toxic behavior more than any other challenges, so in another word, devs are encouraging people to be toxic.

I think they should change this challenge right away, but what do you think?

I used Pig with green extra box and add time with extra trap. BBQ&C, Ruin, Iron Grasp, Agitation. Got lucky and had Haddonfield.

Nurse has been broken since release. FULL STOP. It should never have been introduced as a killer.

Also, this 'god' tier juking by survivors you mention didn't happen, you wanna know how I know? BECAUSE SHE WAS NERFED.

Like I said requires some skill. A skill most people didn't either develop or want too because it requires you to actually think instead of brain dead running a loop.

Nerfed is a nice way to say butchered to uselessness. Even a dev confirmed that Nurse is now worse then Legion.

  • @gizmo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/947187#Comment_947187

She was still broken without omega blink, there's no arguing it. She countered every counterplay survivors have and anyone decent at the game would tell you that. She needed fixing and they tried to fix her to the best of their ability without completely gutting her gameplay, I think she's fine as is.

Many survivors could loop even good to god level Nurse's if they put the time into learning how too. It required playing different which a lot of people hated. Yes I could do it and I was not a minority or the only person capable of doing this.

Nurse was balanced without addons. She really needed a rework for her addons alone. Now she's one of the worst killers in the game as pointed out by a Dev.

Imagine that people enjoyed Nurse on both sides was the only real challenge anymore. Now anyone who plays with or against just finds the current Nurse a joke and unfun to play against.

It’s so obvious when they suicide to spite someone and to that I say they’re small cowards with jello for backbones. I guess maybe the one exception is if your team didn’t even bother trying to save you, might as well go to the next game and hope someone makes an effort.

Although sometimes life happens and it’s better to die on the hook than to dc.

I downed someone with a Leatherface on the Oni's release day. New Map 38 seconds in I find them at shack I spawned at opposite corner. Saw 2 Yui I chased one towards shack she decided to run around the log back in the direction we came from towards the pallet. Downed her with chainsaw and put her in the hook by the 50 second mark.

As I walked away Ruin popped as did Discordance. I was halfway across the map when she decided she was done. Ended up farming with the remaining 3. Not fun in that situation to really play

Numbers where from a recorded video since I was curious.

Why the heck would you over nerf nurse like that devs? You've lost 95% of the Red Rank Nurse Players since you reworked and nerfed her.

Of course she was OP at low ranks, but at red ranks against toxic coordinated swf groups, it's a must to have old nurse/Spirit.

Just remember worse than Legion nowadays. As pointed out by a Dev

Huntress should gain a 1% movement speed depending on the number of hatchets she currently carries.

    5 hatchets- 110%

    4 hatchets- 111%

    3 hatchets- 112%

    2 hatchets- 113%

    1 hatchet- 114%

    0 hatchets- 115%

That way it doesn’t make her incredibly overbearing but also not extremely susceptible to being looped while out of hatchets.

Most unique idea I have seen. Would love to try it tbh.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Killers saying that the game should be balanced around Red Rank Survivors.

Also Killers: Balance the game around Rank 9 Killers (like this thread wants to have it).

I would prefer the game balanced at purple rank honestly, but until they fix all maps any real balance will just need to be changed again later.

Some maps are far too small and some maps are far too large. Broken loops. Not enough good loops. I like Badham nowadays because it's a pretty fair map. I would like that treatment to all maps. Due to the amount of maps these days I also wouldn't mind maps becoming static and no longer RNG. Making map knowledge useful.

I dont have any issues on ps4 with ruin outside of bad ping which makes the game itself lag. The issue isn't the game you just haven't put in the time man.

Also we endure it because we must to play the game. That's why I'm glad I officially moved to PC when my ps4 died.

Can you tell me more about the wareframe mass optimisation? Or can you recommend a link to read about it?

I honestly tried looking for it I found something about the chains of harrow questline, but I'm pretty sure it was after that.

From what I recall they reduced the size of the actual program by around half. Fixed some framerates and random lag spikes and cleaned up useless files they no longer needed. Instead of having to delete the game they made you reinstall the entire thing as a update removing the useless crap. Was quite nice how much improved.

    I did mine with Pig

Using BBQ, Ruin, Agitation, and Iron Grasp.

Using extra trap and extra box that adds time.

Got lucky and taken to Haddonfield.

I got a lot of DC'ers on the way to get it.

  • True most likely it would take well over a year to do. Which while they could have a dedicated team to it. That means the base game would continue to be worse.

While I believe cross play among all platforms will be a step in the correct direction. It wont matter if they keep separate versions of saves. So to eliminate more issues they would need to make it so cross play and cross save is fully integrated. Have functions on dedicated servers sorted.

Then proceed to have a team in the background working on a up to date version for people using the dedicated servers for soft patches. While another team focuses on the equilvent of a brand new game.

While warframe did a mass optimization a few years ago that basically removed half the games size and clutter. I highly doubt the Devs for DBD could do the same within a reasonable amount of time.

While I do think they should be able to since DBD is a paid game not a free one like warframe.

Im 100% agree with you. Fortnite is the best example to put to say that anyone and anything can succeed. I made this post to compare it to dbd and make devs and players see how easy it is to change the things. Imagine if devs did these things right as dbd did. It can only go better.

Logically though for then to redo it. They would most likely have to redo the game from scratch and reoptomize it for everything.

As I said to the guy up there. In 2016 fortnite was unknown with the singleplayer mode. Nobody supported it. They added battle royale, got popular, devs added good content, they listened to the community and did right on every choice. Any single game, doind as right as fortnite, could get to that, from the ######### to the top of the gaming world

I never thought it was going anywhere back then honestly. Despite my distaste for the game. I'm ways glad to see people succeed.

One big difference between Fortnite and DbD for me is this:

One of them is fun to play.

    ;)

Your not wrong. XD I found new love for DBD when I discovered Pig was way better then people give her credit for and began to main her.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

You can all blame on me down there on the comments but you can't ignore these facts.

Fortnite updates the game every week with new content or bug fixes. Dbd release updates every 2 months with new payable content and even if there are bug fixes, new bugs appear.

The battlepass provides you free v-bucks which means you don't have to pay anything and you can buy things as if you paid. DbD doesn't provide free auric cells (except in mobile)

The battlepass is meant to be finished fast and easily, because you can end gaining more v-bucks than you had before after you completed it. Also, the challenges are very easy and you can actually do a lot of them in one singke match. In DbD you have to do one single challenge per match, in most of the cases you have to ignore the objectives and some are extremely difficult. Also the rift has to be compulsory paid with real money and you just can end with the same or less money than before, last if you're a casual player.

Fortnite always provide free content for everyone: new weapons, new events, skins, v-bucks, film premieres,... But in DbD there hasn't been any free content since huntress' DLC in 2017.

Whenever there is an exploitable bug in Fortnite, their devs disable that weapon or function instantly. In DbD you can get banned.

In Fortnite there is full crossplay and crossave for all the platforms. In DbD it took 3 years and a half to start that function as a test for actually the same platform.

In Fortnite you can get refund of the shop items. In DbD you can't.

After mobile version got released, both games did a function for deaf people. In Fortnite they ended enabling it on all the platforms. In DbD, no.

Fortnite has settings for colorblind people since beta because it is a simple setting. In DbD, no. And for this thing I want to give a shout out to that reddit guy who uploads a new meme every week asking for colorblind help because he loves the game as a lot of people like him with the same problem and his suggestion is getting ignored.

Fortnite is fully free. DbD is not, and the DLCs costs 5 times the base game (over 100€)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the rest of the post is getting delayed but will end up cancelled.

The biggest issue is that Fortnite is about as Irrelevant as a Meg.

Jokes aside about Meg being worse then Fortnite. Compairing two games and company's is interesting, but it will never be that way. It wont matter what you compare it to it will always be a different game genre and type.

Also the variables between things in this game and Fortnite might be code at a base level, but the difference in teams in massive.

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

The maps being a problem is nothing new. Proposing map changes as a solution to gen rush as opposed to looping is new. As is not having slower gens as a solution to gen rush.

Really the only thing needed to be changed on gens is the time it takes for a killer to break it. Either the survivors need to have equal time to restart it or a killer just barely needs to tap it. In a game of micromanaging time this is a big issue.

Being able to do this mid chase is a huge issue.

  • Spirit, Huntress, Pig are my main ones. Including Hag, Trapper, Wraith, Leatherface, and Ghostface though I haven't got everything on them yet so I dont include them as of yet.

  • I think your right Groot since it's not technically hiding the game hostage. Just incredibly scummy.

On a side note I finally got my 4 basement sacrifices. I kept getting DCing people. So I tried to farm amd ask them prior. They would DC when it was time to die. Eventually said screw it. Got a 4 man SWF and killed them legit on Haddonfield.

I walk over to the hook. I make sure not to run and leave scratchmarks for that reason. And when I see no teammates nearby and I have bond there should not be any scratchmarks anywhere

Scratch marks pop up about a second or so after you stop running so your still leaving some marks behind. Also if a killers not new and they happen to see the last moment of a scratch mark or new ones they will understand that you are around.

Also if you think a killer is legit looking present yourself for chase. You'll understand if they are camping or legitimately looking very quickly. Even if they chase you someone else can grab the hooked person.

Not defending campers. Just pointing out my experiences from using Fixated and as Killer.

In some ways, Iridescent Huntress is worse than the camping Leatherface.

I'm assuming the tell is 3 hatchets and watching a survivor be instadown.

    @Peanits said:

The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.

Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?

I wouldn't mind it since it also ties in with the trophy. Only issue is that it becomes situational as a ultra rare so I would suggest an additional effect thats beneficial at melee to mid range that can't be effective at long range otherwise it's just another trash ultra rare that decreases your hatchets too.

    • Spirit is currently bugged and broken along with her nerf
    • Nurse got nerfed and is very unfun to play as even if she can still be good, most people who wanted easy wins moved on from her
    • Ghost Face's power doesn't work properly half the time (neither does Myers)
    • Wraith is bugged and broken, just like Spirit
    • Freddy got nerfed
    • Oni got nerfed and made boring to play
    • Legion getting buffed is debatable, most see it as an overall nerf
    • And finally, sounds have once again been completely broken this patch.

I don't need to think when the answer is obvious. Especially when many people on the forums have stated why they haven't been playing killer lately. There's no need for speculation; too many killer players feel like they're being shafted and therefore stopped playing the role.

It doesn't matter if some people find the killer role more enjoyable than survivor. I'm one of those people, too even though I try to play the game 50-50, I don't feel like playing killer lately either, if even just because of some of the above issues, let alone the fact that the majority of survivors in this game treat people who play killer like absolute dog ######### for some reason.

Pig was constantly soft nerfed all year too. Huntress got a buff tho.

I love how some people think Im a survivor main.

Also,no, Killer is 3X times more fun to play than solo survivor, stop playing the victim;the game is no longer survivor sided like it used to be in 2016-2017.

If you still lose a lot while playing as killer ,git gud

Well you are correct it's not as survivor sided as it once was. It's also debatable still. It still borderline survivor sided. More maps with huge areas or broken loops. Devs talk about balance, but fix little on those broken maps. Not to mention when a issue or bug benefitting a survivor or hinders a killer it takes awhile to patch. Yet any bug that benefits a killer is usually found and dealt with ASAP. The longest running beneficial bug to killer was the aura outline on survivors for PS4.

Overall they are working on it, but the biggest issues imho are map sizes and imbalances. We won't really know what needs fixing until overly large maps and broken loops are dealt with.

The new Badham preschool maps are pretty balanced and is in general a pretty 50/50 map with pallet spawns making it tilt a bit, but not excessively.

I've lowered my game window size from 1080p to 720p, lowered my resolution scaling down to 66%, and I'm still getting less FPS than what I was getting at the beginning of the year, and with very frequent freezing too. This gets worse as the game also has a memory leak issue, causing me to have to frequently restart the game after 5 games or so, even though I have enough memory to run the game, the fps just gets worse and worse with every match.

Red Forest maps are the worst. It's probably their larger size, but the freezes on those maps are absolutely atrocious for me. Literally every 10 seconds or so at times. But it also happens when the killer does something no matter what role I'm playing. Like a Huntress can throw a hatchet, and even if I'm on the other side of the map, this causes my game to sometimes freeze for 2~3 seconds. Like #########?

    Memory leak?

I use it on Trapper bow and then. It works nicely. At red ranks it is about like ruin. It might slow things down a lil bit, but not for long.

Corrupt Intervention is 100% better for Trapper honestly. It's got a guaranteed set up time and the ability to lock down gens at a later end of the game. Then again Trapper is a side project for me. I prefer Huntress and Pig.

Lol dude I'm rank 2 killer pretty sure I know when and where to peel off. indesputable fact you can NOT chase more than one survivor at any given time, you can split off and change targets but that is not chasing two people nore is it "pressure" you're changing one target for another. That is a FACT not an opinion. You can never be at more than ONE generator at ANY given time, that's is a FACT not an opinion, now if you force a 3 gen then you might be able to bounce around fast enough to MITIGATE progress. But you're still only ever at one generator at any given time. Furthermore there are maps where unless you run one of a few specific killers you basically have to give up at least one gen unless you want to spend an absurd amount of time on a god loop, that is a FACT not an opinion.

In short no, this is not a difference of opinion what I have stated is simply a fact, map pressure does not exist.

Well you are correct some of your arguments are not exactly 100% true as both Hag and Huntress are able too by an extremely versatile and skilled player. Though both of those require unique set up from addons, perks, map, great predictions. So it's more like a .001% chance of ever finding that specific killer with the right conditions.

Don't get me wrong I 100% agree with you just kinda wanted to mention it.

You can literally pip from doing no gens and just saving while running the killer green rank and under.

The average player should be green rank following my point unless you barely play dbd that's the only exception. If you can get green rank then you should just retire.

I meant more like early ranks a killer with ruin will dominate. Once they hit the people who borderline know what's going on. The killer who used Ruin throughout low ranks wont really be that good. Be confused and shocked because Ruin was supposed to be the end all perk thats OP. Not to realize they didn't honestly learn the basics.

omg, as a solo survivor it's impossible to win a game with every match having Ruin on. This perk is absolute OP in the lower ranks. I'm in the ranks between 12-15 and every survivor struggles how to handle this perk + the survivors on this rank are too scared to look for the totem. for the killler this perk is = easy win in my ranks. pls delete this perk in the lower ranks or nerf it. it makes the game very unfun

Lullaby is much much worse at low ranks. A low rank killer using ruin gets destroyed at about rank 10 it all balances out.

    They all are imo.

I see you haven't been introduced to Huntress Lullaby. Outside of Doctor it's literally one of the worst perks. If the notification didn't pop up immediately ot would be good.

I’m not quite sure what I should do with this pallet, how does everyone else use it?

It's a bad pallet if you dont get the stun you'll get hit. It's similar to the pallet on the ironworks infinite loop. The only way to really utilize this is by having Lithe.

I bought it exclusively for Nemesis perk for some great (!) combos.

I don’t play Oni due to his “uniqueness” and “originality”. And he is literally an m1 Killer from the very start, it’s so funny to play m1 Killer for the majority of the trial. And you lose your ability while picking up, so you forced to slug - it’s not my tactic.

I didn’t even touch Yui, her perks are trash/too situational, and her voice actor is awful.

I bought the dlc on PC and PS4 because that's the last one I needed.

I tend to play all Killer's who's not Billy. I dont enjoy him in the slightest. The Survivor I didn't care about I'm a Feng Main and I have her all cosmetics, all perks, p3. I just wanted the perks xD

  • @Tr0g said:

Franklin's demise is a joke against SWF, someone else will pick up the flashlight while I'm chasing. The perk only works properly against solo players.

I truly don't see how Hag can be top tier killer when literally all she has is a trap that you can teleport to for an M1 hit. And that's if you teleport instantly, if you teleport after half a second you'll just end up in a chase that lasts forever with her speed.

Against solo players I do fine with the Hag. Against SWF I do terribly, and on console that's 90% of the matches. Yes, other killers also suffer from SWF, but the Hag suffers much more than others, even more if there's a flashlight. What use is laying down a trap when someone will destroy it with a flashlight 5 seconds later because it was called out on voice?

I feel like I'm talking to PC players here. I don't know what PC matchmaking is like but the vast majority of console matches are against 3-4 man SWF groups. Nearly everyone with a console has a headset and console players play with friends more often than PC players.

My friend mains Hag on PS4. He does incredibly well with her rarely losing any games. He's unbelievably terrifying to go against.

Do you enjoy playing Hag? A big part of playing a killer and doing well with them is your personal enjoyment. No matter how good or bad a killer can be if your enjoy them you'll excel with them and if you dislike them you'll fail pretty bad.

    Thanks.

Yeah I do feel like if I stomp too hard with her the chaser emblem can get a bit ######### sometimes. Not as much as Billy's or Plague's though.

They should just rework the emblem system to something tailored to specific killers imo, it's a joke sometimes. You can't compare Hag's or Billy's chaser to a M1 killer and analyze them with the same parameters.

Ya I always thought each killer should have there own pipping and emblem system.
