My post was talking about the frustration of playing survivor solo and you started talking about pips, I honestly assumed you were joking. I don't think I know a single person who even notices whether they pip or not after about 100 game hours. I also didn't say anything about winning or losing in my post, my issue isn't that I'm not "winning" enough it's that I've completely ceased to have any fun when playing survivor not in a full group.

Why do you think that pips are a signifier of a win? Why are they any more or less meaningful than any other arbitrary condition like 4 kills or 4 BBQ stacks? It's not difficult to pip, in fact I feel like you would have to try NOT to pip most of the time.

What does achieving rank 1 do? It doesn't actually do anything. Is it a difficult achievement? I would say definitely no. Reaching rank 1 literally does nothing now so it's even more meaningless than it was before MMR was introduced.

You're getting upset over nothing. Just do totems and you'll be fine.

  • Maybe in 4 years. When they get to it.

  • Iri Button Legion has fun on The Game map.

Still loses, but lots of pallet exploding

If they cry out loud devs will eventually nerf dh. I've mentally prepared myself to just play with only lightweight while the killers will use nurse with double range corrupt ruin pop and undying

Dev's don't listen to Killer players.

  • The pip system and grade system is calculated around Emblems. Once you reach grade 1, it doesn't matter what you do in game since you can't lose grades.

The emblem system is the only thing in game that actually tells you if you've won or not. Even the Killers victory declaration is based off the emblem system.

Fewer than 8 Killer Goals would result in -1 Rank Pip and the lose message

    "Entity Displeased".

8 Killer Goals would result in no Rank Pip gain or loss and the message

    "Brutal Killer".

9 to 15 Killer Goals would result in a +1 Rank Pip gain and the win message

    "Ruthless Killer".

16 Killer Goals would result in +2 Rank Pips and the win message

    "Merciless Killer".

Do you really not know anything about any of this? Like why are you so rude when you lack so much knowledge of the game?

How is it free when you need to time it perfectly or you just go on the ground?

To op, because after ds complaints its the turn of dh, after dh it will be for adrenaline and after adrenaline bt

I am more surprised that they targeted Dead Hard before Borrowed Time.

Regardless the complaining is only going to fall on deaf ears.

Too much is expected from the survivor side. If a team has to be perfectly coordinated, then something is wrong.

Randoms would never coordinate well with one another anyway.

Run Borrowed Time, Detectives Hunch, Lithe, We'll Make It.

Borrowed Time: Guaranteed Safe Saves for Benevolence Emblem.

Detective Hunch: Let's you find Totems so you can cleanse 2-3 for Evader Emblem. Counters all Hex Perks. With a Map, you remember all revealed objects locations.

Lithe: Any time you fast vault, you receive the "Escaped" reward, even if the killer continues to chase you, because they had to either go through the window or around to start chasing you again. This guarantee's the Evader Emblem.

We'll Make It: You heal other survivors faster, which helps the Benevolence emblem, and at the same time they live longer in a chase even if they themselves are bad at chases. Borrowed Time also helps during the time you are healing a survivor off hook, if the Killer does come back they still have a protection hit to escape.

Are your eyes working? Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer is multiple slowdown perks. Corrupt/Ruin/Pop is multiple slowdown perks. The Ruin/NOED Spirit was more just for the hilarity factor of a Spirit running Ruin/NOED with Mother-Daughter Ring and Dirty Uwabaki.

I'm gonna assume you're trolling if you think that builds like that are easygoing builds against solo pubs. LOL. You had me going for a minute there.

Ruin isn't an issue because "just do bones" - like any good survivor does. They are unreliable.

You have an issue with the Killer running 3 perks all game to get a slight advantage during EGC? Should of done bones. Good job, you countered NOED and the Killer played the whole game with only 3 perks.

    Ruin is the only slowdown perk in Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer;

    1. Ruin: All Generators automatically regress at 100/150/200% of the normal Regression speed whenever they are not being repaired.
    2. Undying: The Auras of Survivors within 2/3/4 meters of any Dull Totem are revealed to you. When another Perk's Hex Totem is cleansed, its Hex is transferred to the Hex: Undying Totem, including any accumulated Tokens, disabling Hex: Undying instead.
    3. Tinkerer: Whenever a Generator is repaired to 70 %, it triggers a Loud Noise notification and you are granted the Undetectable Status Effect for the next 12/14/16 seconds.

Only Ruin regresses generators. You should learn what a slowdown perk actually is, before making a post pretending to know what you're talking about.

LMAO okay dude. You’re telling me that if a survivor was running DS/UB/DH and We’re Gonna Live Forever you’d shrug it off because they’re running one perk that isn’t 100% meta? Sure thing.

They said the killer was running all slowdown, when they were all running 1 slowdown, and Corrupt isn't even fully a slowdown perk, but some people consider it a slowdown so in that one case they had 2.

Regardless of which, Corrupt only lasts 2 minutes, and Ruin you can just cleanse at the start of the match, so they are not even a issue.

As far as Killer meta goes, Nurses Calling, and Lethal Pursuer are not even meta perks.

These are my solo queue matches now. Every killer build is multiple slowdown perks (with optional NOED) and the strongest add ons possible, while my teammates are running some kind of meme build with Appraisal, Up The Ante or Premonition and they die at 5 gens because they got tunnelled straight off hook with no BT and no DS, or they literally throw and let themselves die at 5 gens. Please note: I'm not complaining about killers running meta perks. I'm complaining about the MASSIVE impact meta builds have on how enjoyable this game is when one side is running meta and the other isn't.

I'm just done with it. People say killer is miserable but I feel like they're playing a different game than I am because my killer games are relaxing bliss compared to solo queue. Here's a perfect example:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JB6Z1XKTS94J/amazing.png

I really felt like the power role this match, I can tell you. :)

Only one of those had multiple slow down perks. Nurses, BBQ, Tinkerers, Lethal are all not slow down perks

Edit; I didn't include NOED because you've mentioned it in your OP. It is also not a slowdown perk.

Is this a bait thread? because also not all these Killers are even running tier 3 perks. They still have NOED and Ruin at Tier 1. One was a blight without Undying no less, why didn't you just cleanse their Ruin totem if it was that much of a problem for you? Are you too new to the game to know totem spawns?

You also didn't post evidence that your team is actually running meme, non-meta perks.

Try running BT, Detectives, Lithe, and We'll Make It. I guarantee you, that you're games will be better even if you do die. You will get to Rank 1 Survivor in no time, and then not have to worry so much about what anyone else is running.

  • He's right, you can't talk about leaks. But you can find out about how the new mmr works with a simple google search.

  • That's a weird thing to call Twerking.

Idk about you, but watching David go down justright.jpg .

It's a free Magic Mike show.

  • There is no right way to do it and Survivors are always going to be toxic because it's easy and they have herd mentality.

If someone DC's at the start of the match, or even during the match that causes their team to lose. Finish the match as fast as possible and move on to the next one, as Killer you probably black pip from it anyways.

Don't open chat, they will be upset because the DC cost them a pip, or their fun and to them that's somehow your fault.

  • Running anything but the top 6 perks means they open the opportunity to get punished for their mistakes. The whole point of the top 6 perks is so you can make 12+ mistakes in a game and not be punished for it.

  • Yes they obviously are. Also the last thing Survivors needed was buffs, it's good to see they are making Killers actually balanced with changes that just barely puts them on par against survivors, but the Survivor buffs just threw the balancing in the trash, and puts them on top again.

  • You're expected to play as a bot, of course it's going to be stale.

Survivor skill = they are immune

Killer skill = you still lose against a survivor with equal skill

  • You get brutal killer for getting maybe 3-4 hooks. It's an extremely stupid statistic until they fix the emblem system

What??? Did you record this match? Not that I don’t believe you.

No but you can try it yourself. Just run built to last, streetwise, green toolbox with double charge add-ons, and prove thyself. Then coordinate with your buddies what gens to do.

  • Then don't do gens so fast. There is more objectives to the game than just repairing generators. You also have to cleanse, make saves, heal, and escape chases.

Built to last is not gonna be that good in my opinion. Too much time in lockers.

Boon totems, i have no idea.

It's already been tested, right now our play groups record is 3min 42 seconds. I played against a group that got out half over 2 minutes on the autohaven small map.

    It's a very real thing.

  • It's because the matchmaking depends on what Killer you chose to play. Honestly they should just lock what survivor you pick out, and make it so that you can level other characters in the bloodweb while waiting for the match instead of just the one you have selected.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That feels soo long away:( But im really excited for all of the changes and the halloween event. But all of the discussion about it kinda has me burnt out on the game. Playing live feels outdated now. And im really tense about the boon totems, if they are gonna make playing killer super hard or not. And also i don't like using add-ons because i feel like im wasting them since a lot of them im using are getting changed. Just doesn't feel like much is going on inside the game right now. But i also feel like i should be grinding BP. Anyone else feel similar?

I am just not going to enjoy that every game will be a slug/camp fest with the introduction of the new boon totems, and survivor perk buffs.

Also Killer games going in 2-3 minutes with the new built to last.

    Huntresses do that a lot

Not on purpose, but it happens a lot

You're kidding right, I even more often throw a hatch at point blank range just because you start to recover faster. When you make a m1 attack you recover when the animation completes, when you throw a hatchet you recover when the throw hatchet completes, before the hatchet actually hits the survivor.

So a better Huntress would be throwing more hatchets than one throwing a basic attack.

Also a skilled huntress rarely runs out of hatchets. Missing hatchet throws makes you run out of hatchets and force you to m1. A good huntress will down in 1-2 hatchets, down again in 1-2 hatchets, hook, reload, then go to hook / down the survivor trying to make saves.

This challenge doesn't show a Huntresses skill at all. It's just tedious and tells you not to use her power. That's not a challenge.

  • I really like the voice lines- oh wait

  • I wish, but I have a couple friends who refuse to leave so I'm stuck if I want to keep playing with them.

  • You can remember just 1? Literally most of us has to dig through a haystack of frustrating matches just to get one decent one.

  • Did you see how much they got berated for responding to feedback? The community is nasty, and it's best that the dev's just not listen and keep their own spirits high, and then make changes by the stats and actual feed back when it's all together.

  • There's a crutch killer perk? Wow it feels like there are just perks that should of been base kit.

And Trapper buffs, Plague buffs(quite deadly), perks like Blood Favor having deadly synergy with Trickster and Nemesis. Retribution buff which with instant downs can be super effective. And changes to hatch and keys definitely show a quite clear bias. And the devs couldn’t just change it a week after.

But none of that helps the issue with gen speed, which the boon totems and the new built to last made a lot worse.

I don't know if you have been playing the PTB but players are finishing games even fast now because of the new built to last.

Your whole argument is "Killers got buffed to where they should of been on release, so the buffs to Survivors are fine". It's not a good argument when the Killers were all far behind, and the survivors have been ridiculously strong for a long time. The only reason so many survivor players don't see that is because there is nothing in the game that actually teaches them how to play properly, but you put good survivors against good killers the good survivors win 10/10 against all killers but 1, and then it becomes a 8.#/10.

(They still didn't fix that hatch just takes the Killers hard work away. If the Killer played so well they should get a 4k, then they should get a 4k. Survivors shouldn't be able to hide, ignore the objective, and then get out for free)

They didn’t “lie”, they changed their minds. That’s like digginng up someone’s twitter history to call them a bigot when it was posted ten years ago.

They’d get a bigger shitstorm over them if they did things the same way as last year. Now that was awful.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2537195#Comment_2537195

Also not a lie. You can’t honestly think they wouldn’t much rather have kept the voicelines?

Regarding Trickster, he’s the first killer to talk in a living language. A language players could easily speak themselves. That’s a mistake, not a lie. A miniscule semantic mistake at that.

Y’all are really prone to call BHVR names for the smallest things, huh?

Speaking is speaking, regardless if the language is a IRL dead language or not. Clearly Sumerian is not a dead language in Dead by Daylight.

Tl;dr for this wall of text: No. 😉

I am quoting all three of these posts because I think you all actually want the same thing: More fun.

Playing against a SWF is demoralizing, because it feels unfair that they are getting an unintended advantage (<-- I am not saying communication apps are actually unintended, but that it feels that way to most players - partially because, and I will stand by that, the rules do not make it clear enough that using them is not cheating).

I don't think it matters whether or not SWF using communication apps actually gives an advantage, the effect might be entirely psychological, as suggested by an old quote from Mathieu I believe, who said that the survival rate of SWF is not much higher than that of solo Survivors. (Note: This was long ago, maybe 2 years or so? So well before we got MMR, which might have changed that).

It just feels really bad playing against someone who has what feels like an unintended advantage. Even if not all SWF use communication apps at all, and not all of them might even use it to talk about the game, it might just be casual talk, it still feels bad to play against it.

A bloodpoint bonus would help alleviate that a little because then at least you might feel better because at least you get a point bonus, but for a lot of players it's still going to feel unfun.

I honestly think the best way to deal with this is to just add voice chat to the game. Genuinely, just do that. Now it doesn't feel like SWF has an advantage anymore because now everyone has the advantage. The biggest argument against voice chat in the game that I have seen from the developers is that in games with voice chat there are always people who are extremely annoying (spamming music, screaming, etc.) and then you just want to turn off the voice chat as soon as possible. And yes that is a problem, but there are going to be at most 3 other players who are using it in a match, and then you can just mute voice for that one person who is being awful and report them after the game. If someone is being consistently awful with voice chat then eventually they will be banned.

The biggest / most common argument against voice chat from the players is that it will ruin the balance of the game. Which I mean, yes, it will cause balance problems, but, and I think this is a very important point, and also why I have pointed out that the rules TO ME read as if using communication apps is cheating (<---- I am NOT saying it is cheating. I have not said that this at any point, I was explaining why I think the rules say that's how it is), is this:

Actually before I continue let me make this even clearer:

I AM NOT SAYING USING COMMUNICATION APPS IS CHEATING. I WAS EXPLAINING WHY I THINK THE RULES SAY THAT USING THEM IS CHEATING

    Okay. Carry on:

    • Nothing, and I mean nothing, is stopping you from being matched about against 4 man SWF with communication apps from now until you stop playing the game.*

    * This could be wrong because we don't know how the MMR works, but I have never seen any post or comment or anything from the devs or in any of the developer insight posts that suggests that if you get matched against SWF repeatedly eventually the matchmaking assigns you only solo players.

The balance problems that communication apps cause? They are already a reality. Why is it okay for a mechanic to exist that in some games gives the Survivors an advantage? Why are some games allowed to be unbalanced? It would be better to have this advantage in every game, and then balance the game around the mechanic properly.

And because I know this will come up: If you think that having voice chat does not give an advantage, then adding it to the game means that the balance of the game doesn't change. Which means the only downside to having voice chat for you is that you need to deal with people who may be annoying on voice chat. This has a simple solution: An option in the settings that lets you turn off voice chat at all times.

Aaaaand this brings me back to why I have argued that the rules say that communication apps is cheating: This tells us what the developers think.

    • It is cheating (debunked by @MandyTalk, thank you for clarifying that!): If you add it to the game you are basically allowing cheating in the game and balancing around cheating.
    • It is not cheating (confirmed by @MandyTalk): You can safely add this to the game. The developers think that the advantage it gives is not big*. It is a "safe" option to add it to the game, outside of concerns about people abusing voice chat to harass other players.

    * This is just a guess. I think it is fair to say that voice chat gives an advantage, but because the developers say it is not cheating the advantage can't be that massive (this is also supported by the quote from Mathieu I paraphrased above in this wall of text) which means that it's safe to enable it from a balance perspective. Any unbalances that it causes should be relatively simple to fix by just adding a bit of power to the Killer role.

So, in summary, this is what I think:

    • playing against SWF feels bad on a "psychological level"
    • giving a bloodpoint bonus can help with that, but I don't think it's a great solution
    • instead voice chat should be added to the game as a feature for all Survivors, including solo!
    • adding voice chat likely will not upset the balance of the game by all that much, and it should be fairly easy to "fix" the balance
    • people who abuse voice chat can be muted, in which case your game experience doesn't change from how it currently is
    • people who really abuse voice chat can be reported and banned -> eventually you get rid of all of them and everyone is happy

Didn't read, upvoted because you started with "I think you all actually want the same thing: More fun."

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That's valid feedback. They made it look ultra-exclusive and now it appears they lied. Hopefully they do stuff differently in the future.

That's not a first, they promised voice lines for Pinhead and lied. They said Trickster was the first Killer to talk, but Plague exists, so they've lied.

They lie when it's convenient for them.

  • It's supposed to be Whispers, but that it's ridiculously unreliable.

  • @WishIcouldmain said:

The devs will likely tone down the boon perks. Plague and Trapper are receiving good buffs and keys finally got changes. And with some more perks getting good buffs like Blood Favor and Retribution. (Bonus Ghostface not add-on dependent).Yes Spirit and Deathslinger were nerfed. But overall this wasn’t a balance patch tilted to one side. Too many people are saying killer is dead now and everyone should go play survivor

If we consider past updates the boon totems will likely come out exactly how they are in the PTB, so no we are not over reacting. All of the survivor buffs and the addition of boon totems ruined the game. Over the next few weeks we are going to see a massive decrease in killer players and if they don't do something to stop it fast we will end up with just another Deathgarden.

  • There's a hack for that.

But as far as "desync" goes the current system favors people with bad connections.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2514705#Comment_2514705

I won't spoil exactly what is or isn't in there, but part 2 is packing just as much as part 1.

Will part 2 remove boon totems, because regardless of any other changes those absolutely ruined the entire game.

  • @Mandy said:

This comes up regularly and we have stated, that no there are no plans to make Legacy available to all players, it was given out one time for those that went through the very early days of the game. It is not something that will be given out again.

The current bloodpoint system is hard to level a character with how many characters, perks, addons, items, and offerings there are. Easily this merits that players get the prestige rewards for it.

Also if they allowed us to get the prestige rewards again it would make less of a incentive for players to seek out ways to cheat the cosmetics in, which leads to less incentive to abusing other kinds of cheats as well.

So saying no to a very simple, easy solution that will lessen the burden of the current growing cheater problem in dead by daylight.

  • Barbecue & Chilli is basically a requirement.

The best build I have run on him is Barbecue & Chilli, Brutal Strength, Make Your Choice, and Pop Goes The Weasel

BBQ tells you where to teleport when you hook someone, brutal to kick the gen faster to get into the chase quicker (don't lose the survivor). Make Your Choice if you can't find a survivor so you can tele back to hook and chase the savior instead. MYC also is good to tracking Decisive Strike.

My Survivor experience is mediocre at best but my killer experience fits what you're saying. Tho this doesn't really answer me. I wanna understand the thought process behind changes to killers. Are they based on that killers MMR? If the way killer works is how you're saying then we'd see plenty of nerfs go around for killers, which we got a few but they were to the already "problematic" killers and there's been plenty of positive changes aswell for other killers. This has to means some killers are overperforming and underperforming. If the changes aren't based on that then whats the point of having MMR? Just for matchmaking reasons? The matches are still unfun and unfair so MMR didn't really solve anything cause the problem isn't matchmaking.

As far as balancing changes, the SBMM is too new for that. They have been determining balance changes on if the Killer sacrificed 2 survivors. I am not sure if they considered dc's, afk's, or any other aspect. Just if the Killer killed 2 survivors most of the time then they are balanced if they killed 3 or more most of the time they are too strong.

  • @R2k said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2536977#Comment_2536977

So basically kills and hooks doesn't matter? I can stay afk and assume myself god tier killer?

If the survivors wait to leave after 9 minutes. Yeah.

  • I started as Survivor when I first started playing when Spark of Madness came out, and then switched to Killer when Freddy came out.

Now a day's I play survivor more, with friends, because the game has gone straight downhill and they are completely ignoring the experience for Killer

  • Yeah I don't care who's in a SWF, I care how many are, and if I've faced one. That information would make Killers better as a whole.

  • @FFirebrandd said:

I mean... I'm not gonna lie, half the reason I play as Legion so much is that they do have a counter to a decent amount of what you've mentioned.

1-3 can all be countered by using Frenzy. 5 can be countered by their built in slowdown of deep wound. 7 isn't an issue if I see them with Killer Instinct. 8, I want them to heal because taking them from Healthy to Injured takes almost no time at all. 11 I can equip Thana and usually have it maxed out so gens are 100s instead of 80s.

I'm not necessarily saying Legion is this amazing killer or anything... what I am saying is that they are very good for almost never feeling helpless... because it's nearly impossible for Survivors to deny you Frenzy value.

Yeah, I should probably delete the list, because that wasn't the point of the thread.

  • Killers are reaching top MMR very easily, because the biggest gain of mmr is for how long the match is. Survivors just have to prolong the match longer than 4-6 minutes and no matter how bad it was for you as Killer you go up in MMR. Doesn't matter your score. Doesn't matter how well you did in game. Doesn't matter if you even pip.

So we have the issue that all the Killers even if they do poorly are getting to max mmr (which caps at 1900 and starts at 1100), while survivors are going up and down based on how well they are doing in game and how long the game lasts.

  • I've played for over 3 hours today, and have yet to get a single game without toxic survivors. Last round was with a streamer who was getting boosted by 3 other survivors that did nothing but bully the whole game. Then harassed me in the end game chat, because the streamer got very little points (when they did nothing all round except accidently run into me and ended getting sacrificed).

They weren't live, but it's just really disheartening to see so many streamers promoting toxicity in the game, when this game relies so heavily on influencers for advertising.
