Ok' I've calmed down a bit; my feelings are still the same, and I just conveyed them... harshly.

You are wrong about that. That's not what survivors want and encouraging us to speak up about underpowered killers whilst not defending ourself is dumb. But I agree I wish this game was scary and aim dressing is a curse on console now that we got god tier pc players who spin last second and them call us trash. I literally have a video on YouTube where I whiffed 2 times in a freaking row because of it

In a lot of posts I've been seeing that people have now started to hate basement for whatever reason. Could just be recency bias, but it seems to be getting a lot more common.

I personally don't have anything against it, typically if you get hooked there it's your own fault.

I guess they had a few matches up against a trapper, hag, or bubba? I honestly have no idea where the hate for it came from.

No once you play long enough and you get hooked in the basement you realize how strong It Is. A trap killer or a instadown or a huntress absolutely wrecks. Huntress and bubba can ignore bt if they hit soon enough. Without BT you either go down or your teammate leading to more situations like that. Especially in a basement like wreckers yard. Although I don't think many explicitly HATE basement. I dont like it and when I play killer I never let free escapes happen unless when I'm in chase or doing more important things because I don't feel the need to rush back to a hook to take advantage of a strong hooking spot. Idk I hope that kinda answers your question

by the definition of competitive/competition yes it is still competitive as there is someone else other than that 4 man swf that is opposed to the 4 man swf. but it isn't hyper competitive in this case because the swf isn't taking themselves seriously and having fun. what most people consider competitive in this is the esports angle which this game really is not set for that. but it is still competitive but you can ignore that and you're good either way.

I like you. We understand each other and aren't just arguing and I agree with you

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1854834#Comment_1854834

that does not mean that this is not technically a competitive game. here is why: 1) this is PvP so you are putting people against each other thus it is a competition, 2) this has points, therefore someone is technically listed as a "winner" even if you aren't trying to win, and finally 3) there is a ranking system so that even if you aren't competing there is a way to show that you have gone up or down in your ranking and this is determined in part by the actions of the other side.

so while it is not competitive as in an ESPORT or a sports expedition the game IS a competitive game by the definition of competitive. "Competition is a situation in which two or more people or groups are trying to get something which not everyone can have. There's been some fierce competition for the title. Synonyms: rivalry, opposition, struggle, contest More Synonyms of competition."

As ive said its up to the individual. The game layout is competitive but not everyone is. You can play a competitive game and not be competitive. Some people are fine with losing and do sports for fun and there's me who wrestled to win. Anf just ad some people play this game in tournaments where its rinse and repeat because this game sucks for competitive game play I play to have fun. Escaping is nice and all but I mainly want pipping. I dont compete its not my mindset even if the game says I have the most points. Idk in the end you have a point but it still relies on the player. You can have a 4 man swf sandbag eachother for fun and is it still competitive no not really. But if you get literal and say it is because they are trying to see who gets killed first I can retort and say if you think like that no game is not competitive

  • @Freki said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1854259#Comment_1854259

it is as you compete to win or loose, how ever it is not somthing that is "professional" or truely ranked and esports level. so you are right and wrong at the same time.

To me I don't focus on "competing" like what am I competing for a escape? A killer cant escape and I'm not fighting my teammates.

  • @slowbeice said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1854259#Comment_1854259

It is exactly competitive in the traditional sense, as are all VS games.

Not really this game isn't a PvP perse because it's a 4v1 and not a 1v1v1v1v1 and so on. But even then its not supposed to be competitive like in tournaments. So Idk I guess it depends on how you play it. If you play to have fun and not win you aren't beimg competitive. When I play survivor I don't compete with others I just do my ######### and get out. My mindset is not competitive at all

  • @slowbeice said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1853857#Comment_1853857

Again, your emotions about the other side are not a factor in the killers decisions, and will never be. You are playing a competitive game.

Its not really competitive in a traditional sense

There’s been a lot of talk about what’s the point of ToTH anymore now that Undying is in the game.

Well...with Undying having no power if there aren’t any dull totems, and ToTH increasing the time it takes to cleanse ANY totem, there’s actually incredibly good synergy running BOTH of these Hexes. And with the recent changes to Thana (if it’s included with the build) it’s possible to add an extra 7 seconds of cleansing time to totems. This is a big deal. 7 seconds is the difference between a 115% killer losing a hex 32m away before reaching the survivor, or interrupting the cleanse.

So the build is Thana, Undying, ToTH, and then your preferred Hex.

    • Get notified every time a hex is touched.
    • See their aura, and where they go if the leave immediately.
    • Get more time to reach and interrupt cleansing.
    • Better able to defend the remaining 2 Dull totems.
    • If Ruin or ToTH are successfully cleansed, (although times are reduced) ToTH still impacts cleansing times for the remaining totems.

Yes, it’s 3 whole slots dedicated to protecting 1 primary hex you are strategising around. But I assure you that whatever Hex you choose becomes immensely more powerful if ran with Thana, ToTH, and Undying.

Also legion is perfect for this

All the old depip squad videos are still available, where they win even with no perks.

So because with no perks the mechanics are practically the same, the old experiment of Marth is still valid. The devs did even appreciate these experiments being done

Map size has changed I don't think that is possible anymore with zero perks against a GOOD killer

  • @bjorksnas said:

So I've been around a bit and currently I'm seeing the same type of complaint issue arise in the community first with noed and now more often with ruin undying.

The gameplay loop im talking about is lazy survivors.

    Heres how it starts

Survivor plays a game vs noed / ruin undying

Survivor doesn't do the side objectives of cleanse totems

Survivor complains about ruin undying / noed rewarding the killer because they were lazy to use counterplay because it would take any amount of time away from their main objective instead of adapting their strategy

    repeat

This gameplay loop is also a great example of why side objectives are hard to add to the game because survivors want to be lazy and anything that takes away from their main objective in the slightest is going to be relentlessly complained about especially if it capitalizes on the fact they are lazy.

I don't know what it is about survivors but all this does is make those perks even stronger because instead of spending your time countering them you spend your time complaining instead of adapting.

Overall change your strategy or give up a perk slot on a team or as a solo survivor to COMPLETELY REMOVE 1 or more of the killers perks every game

Wasting time on totems takes multiple minutes. You can finish half the gens before all totems are cleansed unless the survs have good map knowledge. Gens need to be slower but if you add totems the gens should go faster but if totems arent all gone the exit gates can't be opened and totems need to give objective points. If you gotta waste an extra minute or 2 on totems we need to be rewarded with incentive. Totems are only useful to cleanse for inner strength and for boldness points when a killer wont chase you. Also they are a SIDE objective with no reason to cleanse them its not laziness its sticking to the important carp. Anyone who complains about totem builds and then how hard totems are are usually not good. So why listen? Why paint every survivor like that? I only get annoyed at totems when I get multiple ruin and undying or if noed is invisible or right by the camped survivor. Or if a killer constantly protects a totem like devour because I had a Freddy do that and holy he'll every down he got he would teleport to the gen right by it and defend it so he would get two downs just to keep a totem that he didnt need.

  • @dspaceman20 said:

Personally I'm completely fine with ruin and Undying as a survivor main. I'm in a swf group and I don't think we ever have any problems with it. It's fine for the most part. Us survivors have to adapt and do better.

That's your side tho. I play solo most of my games and its oppressive especially when swf arent that good anyways. But I do agree that it's not a BIG deal.

  • @vacaman said:

Since undying i can have fun playing hex totems without being certain than half of the games my hex will last 30 seconds and the other half max 5 minutes. I really wish they don't change it

Nah the effect is good but can be very annoying or punishing. When I started this game I HATED ruin I could NEVER find totems but now with this perk and the fact all low rank killers have these builds the baby survs will just be wrecked and it'll be worse than old ruin. I prefer old ruin honestly I liked going against it even if I hated it. But I like that hexes are stronger with the perk they just have to adjust the amount if times totems come back or the aura part. It depends I guess on what they decide.

  • @horrortale_sans said:

from what ive seen with this build all you need is two people on gens and two people on totems if you are in a swf even a high mobilty killer can only do so much

Exactly my point. Builds can be avoided and can be looked at logically so if you focus on the BS of it you'll spread hate and just harm your mental state. But I don't advocate for down right ignoring the broken things

  • @MadLordJack said:

I'm all for people running strong, even broken things to win. I just hate it when they try to justify themselves by downplaying said broken things, or pretend it's their opponents fault.

If you wanna win, win. I get it, it's not like I never play with broken toys. My acceptable skill as Nurse and Spirit is proof of that. Hell, I ran Ruin/Undying for two months after it came out. I even run stacked medkits - suck it, killers, you ain't got pressure on me. But I'm fully aware that those toys ARE broken and I suffer no illusions about what I'm doing.

Yeah I always feel bad when I do that because of all the ######### people say. Like I don't want to run dead hard and he'll I stopped running it and when I tried I barely used it because my loop game was on point. I feel like if I use those perks im not good. But at the same time if I am getting hit through Windows or teammates who suck ill run object and ill run vault build. If I get bullied too much at huntress I'll let off steam doing an iri head infectious build. So I totally agreee, but for me I just have my own element I guess you could say and sometimes I go out of it but I dont like it and I am influenced by others opinions due to my lack of confidence.

Over a year ago we had some streams of the devs playing against the community and against their team.

Might be even 2 years ago...

Ok so thats not a good basis. I sucked when I started last august well august of 2019 and I sucked at December of 2019 and I sucked into 2020. But I got good with a year of constant playing. I cant say whether they take the game seriously or whether they consistently play or are good. But what I do know is the assumptions of their skill seems to be unfounded.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

That's very hard to read without proper spacing, no offense.

Anyways, "so what" is because those people are mostly claiming it's either too strong or at least too oppressive for solo's to deal with. It's less so the fact that you have to break all the totems, it's that trying to do them and having your location revealed entirely (especially against mobile killers) just gets you chased off it and the totem reset fully.

It upsets people when they feel something is too strong. Be it true or not, some people feel it is, hence they are upset. It happens. Just because it does not bother you does not mean it does not bother someone else; if you want to ease forum tension this is more likely to instigate than it is to ease it.

I mean I'm trying to at least give some reasoning out so people can understand. And I didnt think that need paragraphs, but thanks for the feedback. Also my target was the complaining of it not the reason they complain nor the subjects strength. Although it sounds like it isnt a good way to go about it it helps me be objective. To me ruin and undying is very annoying and its annoying to deal with the dame build each game. But I also knoe only good killers capitalize and I look at it logically which is what I tried doing here.

  • @ZaKzan said:

It's not about making killers stronger, it's about fine tuning the game so that deathsquads aren't as powerful.

There are ways to balance a game without destroying all levels of play. Altering tile efficiency and pathing is one such way, as lower skilled survivors aren't taking advantage of every step they take like higher skilled ones are. A change like this, for example, would better balance high level play and have little to no effect on low level play. Altering the strength of adjacent tiles to already strong tiles is also another such way, as lower skill survivors will just run through and throw pallets, while the higher skill survivors can efficiently loop 3-5 gens on some tile chains.

The changes that can be made require a deep knowledge of the game, as the devs don't play the game to such a level, they need to acquire the knowledge of high level players.

This particular clip is the best example of what I'm talking about. The BASE jumper in TF2 was altered in such a way that reduced its effectiveness in the hands of good players, but bad players weren't using it in that way, so it didn't really effect bad players.

    https://youtu.be/X1p42KtZOCw?t=206

"It was causing way too many problems in the hands of someone who could use it to its full potential"

The issue with DBD is that as a killer, you need to be significantly better than the survivor team to have a chance against them. Given equal skill levels (at higher levels of play) survivors mop the floor with killers. This is a problem. The other issue is that this game is so badly designed for high level play that one side usually just snowballs which leads to unfun gameplay for the majority of the match. The vast majority of matches are decided within the first 2-3 minutes of the game, then the rest of the match just becomes dull.

How do you know the devs dont have skill

  • @Claudette_Baguette said:

    "SeLfCaRe TaKeS ToO LoNg"...

Some guys are so dumb. If another survivor heals you it takes 16 seconds and 2 (!!!) survivors can’t do anything else.

If you selfcare you are ALONE and it takes 32 seconds and another survivor can sit on a gen. So its the same amount of time overall.... if another survivor only takes one second to get to you and heal you it's actually more efficient to selfcare since you can do it immediately.

And you are more versatile if you selfcare because spreading out is really important and another survivor can finish a gen while you heal yourself.

So stop the self-care hate, it also allows you to make plays (get out of the exit gate if everyone else left or killer is near it, save someone safely, etc) and... well you don't die in one shot and thus stay longer in the game which is the most important part.

I'd love if every of my teammates ran selfcare when I play solo survivor, they most of the time get ambushed by tinkerer or are unaware and die in one hit all the time or crouch in a bush waiting for someone else to show up and heal them... That's wasting time.

Self care gamers are usually not very generous. That's why it gets hate not because you do nothing but because they heal when somrone is on hook and other teammates arent saving them. Your argument could be used against you and thats the way dbd is. Just use whatever perks you want and if you care about being useful just dont make bad habits

  • @wimlin said:

If you killed everyone and didn't score at least 30k points it means you were doing some level of camping that prevented survivors from unhooking and generally you are a trash killer. Score more points rather than just camp and trying to end the game early. I know killers wills there only job is to kill everyone and blah blah blah... its a game meant to be fun for everyone and it isn't much fun when you camp the basement so hard no one can do anything. I know other people well say blah blah blah don't get caught you suck and to those I say you are an idiot. The game is designed massively so the killer can easily catch people. Yes we can prolong the inevitable, but chases aren't even supposed to lost a minute I believe the devs have said.

Ummm really? I guess dc and death on first hook dont happen. Lest I forget that sometime you can lose 4 gens in 3 freaking minutes and come back from it and 4k. So hey if this is the way you think play some killer for a few hours and look at how the point can be if the match does not go exactly like this; find someone hook them, kick gen, repeat til everyone is dead if that happens then you get those points but if you cant hook 12 times or protect gens well enough in the beginning the points don't represent your win

    On it's own, perhaps.

But it opens the door for Survivors to EASILY win

Yes that is true, I wish I could get teammates like that tho

  • You are right. What I said was incorrect, but I meant more generally like certain gameplay styles that arent obvious throwing. If you decide to not try and just go afk thats obviously a guaranteed loss, so I should have specified. Albeit I thought you'd understand my statements i wouldn't have to. Anywho I digress, facecamping isn't a guaranteed win nor loss.

  • @Jarol said:

I have 677 hours on Steam

As a survivor, I want to improve my audacity, in the chases not to be afraid that the murderer will hit me but to leave the pallet intact and give the loop another turn, also do deception techniques and practice the 360 more often.

As an killer I want to practice with killers that I have never played or lost practice, avoid survivors trying to make me dizzy with 360 attempts not to hit them and avoid the deception of pallets and windows so that they do not drop or jump.

Um dont do 360 unless Its a LAST resort

I mean... You're not wrong but who's to blame at this point? The baby survivors or the killer?

I agree btw that facecamping is one of those unhealthy mechanics of the game that shouldn't be plasterfixed with perks but should be changed another way. I just don't think it's all black and white when it comes to how effective face camping is. Most of the time, it doesn't work out for the killer because survivors know what they're doing and usually when it does work, it's because one of the survivors made a mistake.

You can beat face campers so I suppose if something has counterplay, it's balanced. It doesn't change the fact that it's just not fun gameplay and really just ruins the game for the survivors though, hence why I believe it should be changed (unless it's endgame camping I guess).

No offense but I'm not gonna respond to everything you said. I agree, but it was only to kinda show that nothing is guaranteed.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1844776#Comment_1844776

So you're saying that if a team of Rank 20's all throw themselves at hook, they should win? Your logic is flawed.

Facecamping is a bad play that CAN be punished, just like Survivors throwing themselves at hook can be punished. End of story.

By the way, they tried a punishment for camping/facecamping. It did not work, Survivors abused it.

I hope you realize your assumption is dead wrong. I never said anything like that. I'm saying whether someone wins or loses has multiple factors. And therefore nothing is guaranteed to win or lose.

The point is, that there are no good nurses left.

When a survivor knows what he does, he easily jukes the nurse.

In other words, nurse being the strongest killer is history.

Man people need to curb their expectations. It seems on the topic of nurse NO ONE knows what GOOD means. A killer is not bad for not being perfect.

  • @HollowsGrief said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1844286#Comment_1844286

You give yourself way to much credit, you only sound arrogant. Nurse is the power role in chases that means if she doesn't mess up then nothing you do changes the outcome of the chase meaning your skill has absolutely no factor in the chase to being with only her skill. Sorry dude but she wasn't a good Nurse and no you aren't that good.

Never said I was. I said I AM good not the best. My only point is to say that just because her skill wasnt as high as mine or maybe its the fact I ran multiple line of sight blockers, she didnt get me. She got everyone else. So no being good doesn't mean perfect. If you don't 4k all the time you're not a good killer and if you dint escape all the time you're not a good survivor. Otz is not a good killer and noob3 is not a good survivor. You see where I'm going with this? You can NEVER prove your point with such a horrible mindset. And frankly, being good at something does not mean you have to be the best. A GOOD nurse won't be easily destroyed, she will down survivors easy and if you fail one youre now not good? Thats unfair man

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1844640#Comment_1844640

If you facecamp and they keep throwing themselves at you, they deserve to lose.

I'm not really seeing an issue here.

The issue is what you said is false. No matter what reason a team loses, IF they lose to facecamping your point is wrong. And thats a very close minded way of thinking. Thats like saying if you're good at survivor you're guaranteed to escape. Yeah if you're good you for a chance, but there are other factors. Therefore you cant use deserve to lose or they gave you this or that as a defense, because you could say it towards everything.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1844535#Comment_1844535

Then it isn't the Killer's fault, it's the Survivors.

And yet again it simply means it doesn't guarantee anything. If I facecamp at killer in highranks I can win and yet I can lose. It is dependent on both sides. If survivors rush I can still win if I'm good and if they do rush and I suck I can just as easily lose

What he/she is saying is true though. If someone playing as nurse (who can literally make almost every loop useless) is chasing a survivor for 1-2 minutes, that nurse is bad.

To me she is good. no other nurse players beside @GoodBoyKaru and a console nurse have gave me that much problem and stood out. Therefore they are good nurses to me. And even then I am a good survivor at least when it comes to my experiences and to compare how well I do against a killer as their skill cap is ignorant. If otz beat me easy would i suck or would he be good? If I beat a fresh 100 hour red rank killer with my 1000 hours do they suck or am I good?

  • @HollowsGrief said:

I'm glad you had fun but I'm going to come out and say she was NOT a good Nurse. A good Nurse truly has no counter-play at all, she will down you in less than 20s, so running a "1-2min" chase means she wasn't good. A good Nurse you don't have chases with at all, you just go down.

Depends. You guys ignore the simple fact that I'M good. Any killer that cant down me fast is therefore bad even if I'm at the top of my game and it is very stupid way to think. What if you had noob3 and ussylis and Aaron and jrm as a swf and they wreck a good nurse? Is she not good anymore?

Nobody's trying to start crap. You're on a discussion forum, not in front of an audience of yesmen. Learn to take differing opinions and lose the attitude.

And what I said is objective. No good killer commits to 2-min chases. No good Nurse needs 2 min to down a survivor on an open map like Mother's Dwelling. Even more so if they had range add-ons. I said they weren't good. I never said you weren't. For as much as I know you might be a god-tier survivor. That is irrelevant in this context. A good Nurses doesn't get run like that on an open map.

Your comparison is also illogical. The rank 12 Oni who just holds W can down your teammates who do the same in 15-sec chases. Then he comes after a survivor who does basic looping and he gets run for 7 gens. The Oni would still suck. The fact that your teammates suck as well doesn't make him a better killer than he is.

Sarcasm is not a surrogate for lack of logical arguments. Try to focus on the latter, because you're as good at the former as the Nurse itt was at blinking.

I apologize for my belligerence but nurse is the hardest killer and she was good at nurse. If you arent good at nurse you wont even catch me and she only committed because there was 2 people left

"Oh you looped a nurse, the nurse was awful"

"Oh the nurse downed you with ease, your awful"

    Cool story

I'm gonna guess she's taken my spot in your list of good nurses 😔

Yes but you are still one of the best karu! I don't plan on throwing you under the bus

I mean, it is in general discussions so that's kind of the point? This would probably fit better in off topic.

Anyway, glad you had a pleasant experience.

Thanks :) also no Because its on tthe topic of the game. Same with how people rant I'm here talking about a good experience I never ASKED for a discussion but anyone is free to add to this and therefore I guess it is a discussion just one that isnt fully led in a direction by me.

Isn't off topic for things entirely not related to dbd?

This was a match within end and even more in depth with talk of gameplay mechanics and a specific killer so no this isn't off topic

she ACTUALLY chased me I got an at least minute and a half to 2 minute chase.

    Not a good nurse.

    she had range add one.

    Even more so.

Good to me buddy. She was Good enough to destroy multiple people EXCEPT me. And I mean DESTROY. Her blinks were PRECISE. I literally said so much in her own skill so don't you go cherry picking and starting crap. She is good but not the best if she was the best or really good I would have died too. I know what I am doing thats like saying a rank 12 oni sucks just because he cant catch me even though he can wreck everyone else he plays against.

Ok, so we're discussing what exactly in this post ?

Does it matter whether we discuss anything? I am simply sharing a story

Pretty bold statement saying you hate The Pig ,because there's alot of Pig mains on the forum's,Also the Demo just need's the right perks and addons, and some skills his shred needs a buff.

Shred: If you go into launch stance which slows you down ,if a survivor's knows how to loop then they will just wall hug which will either make you hit the surface or you'll miss completely. It also basically turns you into an M1 killer for 45 seconds.

Otherwise I like the ideas especially Pyramid Head's 😉

Wall hugging will make a demo hit it? As if.

ikr. we kinda talked about it after the game. even oni without perks can still wreck us if some1 constantly giving him blood. btw i missed brand new part skillcheck so that toolbox didnt do much T.T fml

Not even that but most red ranks aren't good. Ive only ever met a few as good as me and well I'm not perfect and make dumb choices too but its still just surprising you know?
