The absolute BEST Hex defence possible. Don’t discount ToTH just yet.

There’s been a lot of talk about what’s the point of ToTH anymore now that Undying is in the game.

Well...with Undying having no power if there aren’t any dull totems, and ToTH increasing the time it takes to cleanse ANY totem, there’s actually incredibly good synergy running BOTH of these Hexes. And with the recent changes to Thana (if it’s included with the build) it’s possible to add an extra 7 seconds of cleansing time to totems. This is a big deal. 7 seconds is the difference between a 115% killer losing a hex 32m away before reaching the survivor, or interrupting the cleanse.

So the build is Thana, Undying, ToTH, and then your preferred Hex.

  • Get notified every time a hex is touched.
  • See their aura, and where they go if the leave immediately.
  • Get more time to reach and interrupt cleansing.
  • Better able to defend the remaining 2 Dull totems.
  • If Ruin or ToTH are successfully cleansed, (although times are reduced) ToTH still impacts cleansing times for the remaining totems.

Yes, it’s 3 whole slots dedicated to protecting 1 primary hex you are strategising around. But I assure you that whatever Hex you choose becomes immensely more powerful if ran with Thana, ToTH, and Undying.

what if you are in a chase when they are cleansing, and it's an important chase. you either have to go defend your totem at the cost of letting the survivor go or you chase the survivor and you let them cleanse.

There’s nothing wrong with abandoning a chase to give attention to a stationary target. It also needs to be considered that in the case of SWF, they’re going to intentionally try and lead chases as far away as possible from Hexes so they can tell team mates to cleanse.

Also, worse case scenario, even with successful cleanses, survivors are wasting far more time doing this with ToTH and Thana. Any wasted time is good time for the killer.

  • You're devoting too much attention to totems. Your objective is to kill survivors, totems are not required for them to escape. By crossing the map to disturb someone cleansing a totem you're not chasing or shooing people off of gens and getting no ruin value.

Ruin+Undying is powerful right now bc they buy too time in matches for killers in average. It's expected that they will be cleansed, you just need to make the most of it or else you'll end up with your hex totems up and the doors open.

His build is primarily for totem defense, and it does that very well. Paired with a high mobility Killer (Spirit, Billy) or someone thats great at totem defense (Hag, Freddy) its easy enough to do both. Also certain totems will scare Survivors into not doing gens or make them rush totems, put on Devour Hope instead and it'll be chaos.

You had me skeptical until I remembered ruin

  • Focusing If you committed to hex defense in playstyle, this would be a good build to turn Devour Hope into a reliable perk.

Too bad I don't have Undying to test it...

Also legion is perfect for this

  • I ran those a few times with thanatophobia. Survivors either dc'd or were giving up at 4-5 gens.

  • Once I have all 3 on one killer I will be putting on undying, TOTH and haunted grounds all at once. May God have mercy on my soul.
