It's a VERY niche build that emerged in an attempt to make one of the worst killers in the game viable. People love the license and want to play her but she is so WEAK. She needs a balance once over very badly (soon hopefully).
Can you really blame this playstyle becoming prevalent when she has nothing else going for her?

I've seen the survivor incentive at 50% and even the killer at 100%.
Or this cursed moment:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JDQ53HSJIE2I/image.png
the incentive being 100 for the survivor most of the time is not an indicator that survivors are leaving the game. DBD needs 4 survivors for every killer. If roughly half the playerbase plays survivor and the other half plays killer, well the survivor side needs more players. In order for their to be balanced queues, 80% of players would have to be queueing for survivor. In order for killer to see incentives you would need like 90% of the playerbase playing survivor.
Thanks Crowman. This is the best it's been explained. The community is likely about 50% split (which is fine and healthy) but some survivor mains have somehow twisted that into a "game is dying" mantra.

Phantasm is a bit of a niche franchise compared to other licenses in this game but I’ve always had a lot of admiration for it. I made this post to kinda try and get people interested in The Tall Man, literally the most underrated horror villain.
Without being super spoilery in case you’re interested, The Tall Man is a sadistic inter dimensional being who goes from town to town, world to world, stealing corpses and killing the population in order to turn them into dwarf like creatures that do his bidding. He barely speaks, and prefers to emote through his facial expressions.
As far as abilities go, he’s ludicrously OP. Superhuman strength, telekinesis, shapeshifting, immortality, teleportation, can even duplicate himself using alternate universe copies of himself. You probably only recognize him for his Sentinel Spheres, which are sentient and are a Swiss Army knife of weapons like knives, drills, saws, lasers, etc. There’s a Reddit thread here that goes WAY more in depth (some stuff that I didn’t even know about).
I hope this gets you interested in the series and The Tall Man character, and maybe someday we’ll see him in game. I already know some might say he’s too stronk for DBD but that means that there’s more opportunities for power ideas. He will surely get nerfed in the transition but he could be fun!
Phantasm would be pretty great. Very underrated horror.

I can read and use the forum's search tools, lol.
Noice. You should change your name to detective Raccoon.
Anyway, Crashing seems to be almost always on the users side lately. There are no widespread crashing trends that I have heard of on here or reddit.

That is not a fair comparison imo. A fair comparison is killers standing on the hatch to close it when they see you approach, or killers who pretend they're going to let you open the doors only to down and hook you the second they open, or killers who hook you and stand there nodding or hitting you repestedly. They're all acts of trolling on both sides.
Slugging for the 4k is despite its flaws a way of doing the objective, so is the last two survivors hiding and waiting out each others' deaths to get the hatch. They're both valid tactics, but they're both just boring as Hell.
Survivors have to advance the game state. If there are two left, do gens. Its against the rules to take a game hostage.
-
Clearly the buffs were good because I see blastmine in every single game now.
-
I've been seeing it about 1/4 games.
I don't camp as a killer so it really doesn't do anything for me.
Clutch as a survivor though.

Keep in mind that there's a good number of killers who demand the game to force kills for them. There's some others that like to work for their kills and have some challenge, but as you can see in this forum, a few others would make winning key-bound. if they could press a key and automatically win a match, they would and call it balanced for X reason.
These are the type of players that Behaviour has been cattering to for a few years.
What are you on about? Are you just trying to say and believe something so hard it comes true?

Came back to this game after a long hiatus. Honestly it is much better since I left. But these are still a thing. Help me understand.
Because killers are allowed to have good addons and perks to.
-
Honestly they should focus 1st on maps then buff most of the roster (obv not nurse and blight)

It worked for like a week a year or 2 ago. I get hit by killers post-pallet stun more than ever lately.
I've gotten so many hits with blood spray and no DH and it isn't registering them.
Whatever they tinkered with seems to give the survivor more leeway not the killer

According to devs the escape rate variation for SWF and SoloQ is in the vast majority a matter of a couple of %. The highest mmr SWF will have an escape rate superior by 15 points of % at the very most.
So for the common of mortals, SWF and SoloQ does not make much of a difference.
That being said, I agree with the rest of your arguments.
(I'm getting big economic student vibes from this post and I'm loving it, as one myself)
1. I will not hug the hag.
2. The terminator survivor squads do not have a 50~% escape rate. It's likely closer to 80 or 90.

Got +50% killer incentives for more than an hour now (EU), I got a few games in and plenty of bp.
Finally got some more homogenous lobbies as well, when earlier I was getting P19 dudes among tier-1-perks beginners on a killer I just started playing this week haha.
Friday nights might be the killer incentives shining time :D
Let's goooooo!

Because it is not Old DbD anymore. Old DbD was fun and good game. DbD should back to 2019, the best year of DbD.
This is the best DBD has ever been. We are like 1 or 2 patches away from almost perfect balance. In an asymmetrical game!
The killer updates were great. Now add the icons to solo q they talked about and let's see how things settle.

Give them time to figure out what they can do to help her out
Yeah, maybe we should be resonable and wait like six months.
Wait.

But, but…killers are OP! That’s what all the survivor mains masquerading as killer mains on the forums are sprouting. Killers so easy to play now! You don’t even have to try and you’ll easily get a 3k!
This. The doom and gloom has to stop.

One survivor here told the story of an insidious, NOED nurse waiting patiently behind the exit doors and then burst forth like Death incarnate when everyone thought they were sound and save.

It's showing up more and more... its still a free extra health state. Not sure if the nerfs were hard enough.
-
She may actually need a ground up fix... not sure just numbers would fix anything. Agreed.
-
Except at ~50 kill rate survivors at high levels would obliterate killers with 3k+ hours.
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
What do you think about his state at the moment?
Complete trash. In the very bottom of c tier, just above the worst 5 in the game.
His nerfs gutted him because pre nerf all he had was a strong 1v1 and that is greatly diminished. He's a strictly worse huntress.
-
I also think she needs something to help her chase.
-
Artist is fine. She's a very fair, powerful killer. Same with blight but he has alchemist ring.
Nurse has been nerfed into oblivion. And she's still somehow powerful. It's not fair to the Nurse community to destroy the character. She deserved the nerfs she's gotten, and it's pretty fine now unless you play against the 1% of nurses that are insane.
-
@PBsamichShoe said:
They nerfed a perk that required literally one brain cell to counter.
Everyone used it because it was the only perk that could reliably extend chases.
Now theyve gutted it, nerfed survivors so they have no meta whatsoever and buffed killers across the board in chase and buffed camping and tunneling.
The new dh is garbage and so is just about every single survivor perk.
DH is still a free second chance in a lot of situations. You need to examine your survivor bias for real. It's still the most used perk in the game because it's still a third health state.
-
Honestly if it had been 2 mil not a single person would have complained imo.
-
If I'm playing killer, Survivors seem to be toxic no matter what. You let one have hatch? "Why did you let THAT one go"
You 4kd? "Op killer, op perks"
You 3kd? "Baby killer couldn't get everyone"
Honestly makes it easier to ignore post game chat as every single match is verbal abuse unless you stomp them into oblivion.
-
Not really on board with that extreme of a nurse nerf. To be honest I think it would be fine if we just nerfed some of her broken add-ons.
Playing against an average nurse is also really really fun.
-
I agree that the amount is a bit low.
-
Counter play is you and the other guy bust through those two gens and leave.
-
Spiders is a pretty obvious one they could add.

2 patches In a row that are ballpark slams. What are you talking about?

The next three maps should be:
The game - because it's awful
Gardens of joy - the damn bushes shouldnt block half the killer powers in the game
Rpd - keep remaking it until it doesn't suck.

I came back after a long break and I've just been having the best time.
Or rather... its WESKIN TIME!

Post apreciation to the best characters ever made by BHVR.
One thing I'm really proud of the devs is how creative they are. The characters lore, the visual design, the sound and most important, a fun power. These two girls have everything to me.
Hope to see one day they being the main charaters of a succesful horror movie.
For sure. Let's hope behavior shows our girl Sadako some love soon so she can stand next to these two as well.

Look, Ik some may disagree with this but as a retiring killer main that dabbles in some surv matches. Solo Q is literally the worst experience I have ever had on a side of a game.
I feel like hook timers should be increase by at least 10 seconds because you cant coordinate with randoms and its honestly just a heavy disadvantage to the surv.
At first I was rolling my eyes at how many surv said Solo Q sucks but now I completely understand.
Now, before you reply I honestly want you to not incorporate SWF into this discussion. Soley think about randoms that have 0 communication and/or coordination.
You can't ignore the primary reason they haven't done something like this: it massively buffs SWF even more.

@humanbeing1704 said:
it happens sometimes I'm of the opinion that knock out has always been a problematic perk and should be reworked
Yeah at base value it encourages slugging.
Don't get me wrong, tactical slugging for pressure is sometimes called for but some killers are being jerks and slugging for bleed outs.
-
That would affect chases significantly though.
It's the same issue as the killer pov.
-
I think most people think the blood web system is kind of a relic.
I don't know what to replace it with but... maybe make progression a bit easier.
-
Non stop. 1/5 games and mostly subtle.
-
I would start with redesigning hexes from the ground up. They are mostly trash after boons were introduced and all but one were gutted.
-
Not a fan of spending 20+ minutes of limited play time on this

With BT becoming basekit i think it shows that perk's effects can become basekit. Some general perks effects could be made basekit for solo players without hindering the balance of the game :
- DARK SENSE : see aura of killer for 3 seconds if someone finish a gen, killer + all other survivors for 6 secs if you finished a gen
- HOPE : gain the haste effect until chased
- KINDRED : see the aura of killer and teamates BUT only work for you, if you want to reveal the aura to others you still need to equip the perk
- NO ONE LEFT BEHIND : the aura reading part up to 64 m to infinite
Cool, what are you giving killer to compensate for that staggeringly powerful package?
-
You do realize that it will almost always naturally gravitate to survivor simply due to them needing 4 for every one killer?
-
@SuzuKR said:
Then you are the problem. If you have a problem with some part of the game, take it up with devs respectfully. If you take it out on the other players by disconnecting, suiciding on hook, AFKing, sandbagging, etc, you are the problem in that game.
Blatant cheater holding a game hostage? Sure. Game-breaking bug like being permanently stuck in a hill? Sure.
Because you dislike the map? Because you dislike the other side's build(s)? Because you dislike the other side's character(s)/cosmetic(s)? Because you dislike something that happened in the game (eg, downed early/flashlight saved/gens done quickly/etc)? Because of literally any other non-cheater/game-breaking bug reason? You are the problem.
There's a really, really easy solution if you hate facing a part of this game that badly. Don't queue up.
By DCing/suiciding/AFKing/sandbagging/etc, you are actively ruining this game for the other 4 players just because you are incapable of handling facing some part of this game. Sure, you paid for this game for your own fun and aren't responsible for others, blah blah blah. But guess what? If every single person gave up the second they faced a part of the game that wasn't how they wanted it, you would not be getting to play out any games either.
Want to take up what you see as an issue with devs respectfully? Sure, go for it. All the power to you. When you're in a game? Either suck it up buttercup, or don't queue up at all. If you care that little about the experience of anyone except yourself, go play a single player game and don't ruin the game for the people that are mature enough to play through a match they queued up for.
TBF I will admit I was misguided for saying their is no reason to DC the other day. You just gave two very acceptable ones.
But yes. Don't dc because you got downed first or because you heard nurses cry.
You queued knowing nurse is in the game and that killers can down uou.

You can't bait scripts.

Fair point. I'm mostly fine with it because it's so easy for the survivor to screw up.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/346597/how-is-the-dredge-fair-at-all
Dredge is pretty much fine , however nightfall can be miserable and unfair combined with blue boon overlay for console players, you just cant see most of the times making nightfall more annoying than scarier really because BHVR still doesnt add a simple bright slider to video settings if you go against a dredge and you are paired with console players them take it easy with them, is not easy playing with the default lightning and being blind 24/7.
(Yes we know video filters exist but thats just silly , just pc players can use it , while console just have to deal with the insane darkness)
Note: I play on PC but jeez becomes annoying just having to use a video filter when going against a dredge while teammates are not helping placing boons everywhere and making my eyes sick everytime.
They don't add a brightness slider because it literally negates half a killers power.

If there's a lot of people wanting to play killer but not a lot of people wanting to play survivor, what does that tell you about the queues?
You literally made that up. Out of nowhere. Because ques for killer are less then 2 minutes. That means that a LOT of survivors are quining.
