I don't know if this would work. I do like the idea though. I feel there is zero downside to being the obsession unless the killer is using rancor. Hell if the killer is using stbfl or pwyf they are more likely to leave the obsession alone. I think there should be a real downside to being the obsession.

You want additional downsides to not being able to do generators and your team losing every game?

you don't necessarily have to be the obsession, if you don't run any obsession perks then you won't be, also just because you can't do objectives doesn't mean that you're useless, you are supposed to be useful to the team by cleansing totems, opening chests, healing the team which are all buffed, and running the killer around.

You are useless if you can’t do generators, plain and simple. Keep in mind that others will want saves and healing points too. Also, running the killer around? Why is the killer even chasing the obsession? He would be a complete idiot. That survivor is meaningless to him. Every game would come down to the obsession trying to find the hatch as they will all be 3-4K unless the killer is absolutely terrible.

  • Killer facecamps first hook....now with only two survivors able to work on gens while he’s camping the guy to death. Game over.

Sorry but there’s a reason games are cancelled now when a survivor quits in the load screen. Having only 3 survivors able to do gens is insanely killer sided.

  • A post like this requires a video or its pointless. We all know killer clocks tend to be exaggerated also. Let’s see how it went down, so we can determine if it might be toolbox related, map related, mistakes, a combo of those, etc. I’m assuming you’d have it recorded since you make videos. To not post it seems a little suspect to be honest.

Lets start at the very beginning, dont go to much into detail please. This might come later if we are on the same page and you wish. Alright..

If freddy for example has 70% Killrate on average, then he has 70% KR on average. Is this correct in your mind? There is no way he can have 60% somehow, when he has 70%, right?

We both agree they have not lied about the stats, right? And we also agree, that the trainee has not messed up, are we?

Yep, the stats are facts. What the devs said was just to not draw conclusions that such and such killer is too strong or too weak, for example. Killers however, have taken this and spun into a narrative that the numbers themselves are incorrect. People who do this just look eally biased. The numbers are accurate, Freddy has a 70% or whatever it was killrate. FACT. You have the people saying “the numbers are wrong, the devs said they are flawed!”. Not what they said at all. The debate lies with HOW those stats came to be, not that they are wrong. Is it a certain add-on combination, like forever Freddy, that’s what the devs meant.Really not hard to understand, but people are always going to take a stance to dismiss anything that goes against their belief.

  • I don’t think the killer should be getting any bonus at all if we are talking duos. Some SWF involvement is actually required to make a game balanced, imo. You don’t get a reward for that. Killer vs 4 solo survivors is by and large advantage killer for sure. I think most people who don’t have really slanted views would acknowledge that. Doesn’t mean 4 solos can’t happen to work well together and win, but the same can be said about a 4 man SWF being potatoes. Generally speaking, 4 solos is killer sided and 4man SWF is survivor sided. Balance lies in between. Therefore, nothing should happen unless it’s a 3 or 4 man group. Personally, I’d just give the bonus only vs 4 man, but wouldn’t argue hard against a trio. Also any solo survivor should get a bonus.

The issue with that statement is, like most things the dev say, it's inconsistent. So quoting it strips you of credibility.

They "balance the game around 2k's", yet their own leveling system makes it near impossible to progress with a 2k at anything above rank 7-8. Which I'm assuming is where you play killer.

I didn't say you were a baby killer. I said you're happy with mediocrity (and apparently inconsistency), which you are.

Why do you think should be progressing with a draw outcome? If you are getting 2K it means you are at the proper rank. I know the ranking system needs work, but your statement here doesn’t make any sense at all.

  • @MrPenguin said:

We need better stats that reflect how people "died" (DC, suicide, mori, ect.) and we need stats divided by ranks and/or the upcoming MMR as well. The stats as is are very misleading because they make no distinction whatsoever on many aspects in the game. Maybe then the stats will mean something, not everything, but something.

Stats on perk usage would only really be useful if we separated them out by ranks/MMR. High, mid, low ect.

DCs already don’t count towards the stats. A mori makes no difference as far as kill stats go....however the killer gets that kill should count the same. I mean, if we are going this route then hatch escapes shouldn’t count towards escapes. That would also be silly. Hook suicides there’s no way they could do this. Not all hook suicides are people giving up early in the game. Some are when the game is clearly a lost cause and it’s a waste of time to keep going. There’s also people who suicide out to give the other remaining survivor the hatch opportunity, if the killer doesn’t slug them obviously. These are all legit kills.

  • @underlord99 said:

They dont like to release statistics because people like to base their full opinion on them. furthermore they do not make changes just on stats, there is always an outside source that effects their choices. Think back to when they released the kill rates late last year, people were and still are making false assumptions via the stats. even though the devs have stated that the stats are flawed and that they count people bleeding to death as well as hook suicide in the killrates.

Why should they not count survivors who bleed out?! That doesn’t make any sense. If a killer 4 man slugs, and let’s all of them bleed out...you consider this a 0 kill game? Of course they should count as kills.

  • @pemberley Wnat are you talking about?! You don’t think a discussion about killer tactics of camping, slugging, and tunneling is on topic in a thread about extending the survivor objective? They are 100% related and therefore, completely on topic.

  • @Nakedwildman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1120094#Comment_1120094

I dont judge or decide things for tohers, nor am i able to "predict" their behaviour.... i can speak only for myself.

If i got more time to focus on survivors, due to higgher genspeed, i wouldnt slug/camp on certain point, or even tunnel anymore.

Many times you have to tunnel is, ifd you couldnt apply enough pressure, because rng-esus did hate you, you gonna need a first kill, and the "killer game" begins at the last 2 gens...

It happens many times due to bad map design, and i even enjoy sometimes to play rather weaker killers, even if i know, i wont even be able to get a single Kill, and basically, if i would care about rank and stuff, it would be pointless, i would change my whole playstyle if i got "more" time to do so.

But even then, you’d always have these tactics in your back pocket any time you want to win. Game not starting out well? Guess I’ll just tunnel them and win now! If the speed of the survivor objective was balanced around killers playing “fairly”, then those “unfair” playstyles therefore would need to be removed from the game and no longer be possible. I don’t see what’s wrong in saying that. You shouldn’t be able to have it both ways....to where you can get more time but still have the ability to play in a killrush manner whenever you want.

  • @Nakedwildman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1118963#Comment_1118963

why would someone camp/slug if we got time as killers?

i actually only do that if i feel 3 gens are done after first hook, and it doesnt make me possible to even get a 2k or 3k anymore...

If i had enough time, because i know survivors must do such things to complete their objective, i wouldnt even mind to leave the hook, go across the map to find another one... But thats me

Because many people will always look for the easiest path to victory. For all the mocking of the “survivor rulebook”, now you are suggesting killers would actually follow this and play with an honor code because they have more time? You know that’s not true. It would continue to happen because they could win every game. If survivors complained, the response from killers would be “Im a killer I’m not here for your fun, I play how I want and am being optimal”. Let’s not act like this wouldn’t happen. As was pointed out, with the ruin nerf it’s not as if survivors now stall around for a few minutes to give a bottom tier killer a better chance. They just continue to play how they’re accustomed to. Killers who slug/camp/tunnel would be no different. Give them 2 minute gens and they’ll still do it.

  • This forum is definitely killer sided, anyone with a brain can see that. It doesn’t make the majority opinions right or wrong mind you, but how can anyone actually deny that. That’s comical. I haven’t been been on reddit in a while, but that always trended more towards survivor, in large part because survivor opinions are bashed here so that’s where they have to go. Argue all you want, but it’s reality. This is home predominantly to killer mains. The same people denying that are the same who argue a streamer like Tru3 is unbiased because he plays both sides on steam. Come on now. He very heavily slants towards killer as does this forum, both just pretend to be neutral and unbiased 🙂

  • @Seanzu said:

The game will never be "horror" to anyone with more than 75 hours, which is the majority of people playing, gore in video games quickly becomes nothing once you see it 100 times, you can't bring horror to a game that is continuously being played for, especially in online games where the killer is controlled by a human.

Additionally, I always see certain players ask for more darkness etc, they brought out dark outfits for characters and killers went mental over it, so much so they went and made them all grey instead of black, so it's unlikely we'll ever go back to the dark/foggy atmosphere we once had, which was by far the "spookiest" thing we had.

I wish more people understood this. Survivors are not going to feel fear towards a human controlled killer in a multiplayer game. Simple as that. That feeling is replaced by wanting to beat that player and win...you aren’t scared of them. Completely different mindset then one would have playing a single player survival horror game.

    No, you think.

It's entirely possible for someone to take a break for a couple of months and be rank 15 when they come back. Add on top of the matchmaking system CLEARLY NOT WORKING, it's NOT that much of a stretch to believe.

So someone with 2-3K hours experience, takes a little break, and then wants to quit because they are being matched with survivors they wouldve been (unless they were GOD awful) matched with in all their previous hours of experience? You aren’t thinking this through...AT ALL. If you reached ranked 3 in a game, took a few months off, and came back to face rank 3 opponents in some games (don’t even pretend it’s all)...you would quit? Lol. 99.9% of players would be aware of the fact this was the caliber of opponent they played previously and want to return to that level, which shouldn’t take long. They wouldn’t quit, thats ridiculous. Did this player retain NOTHING in their previous 2-3K hours? They are completely back to rank 20 level apparently. See the gaping hole in the story, man.

  • @Mc_Harty If you don’t see the the bs behind a player claiming to have 2-3K hours and wanting to quit due to facing players 15 ranks above them, then yeah, you are stupid. Sorry. Don’t hand me the bit about “maybe they played survivor for 1.9K hours”, this wouldn’t be posted if that were true, THINK. The entire post is nonsense. Only made to fuel killer complaints under the silly guise of “I quit”. As if that makes everyone, including devs, take notice. He didn’t even do it right though, that’s what is weak.

  • @Spectre13 said:

Welcome to war kid. Everyone is having a bad time playing killer even the ones who swear up and down they aren't. In a 4v1 match no matter who has the power it's a simple numbers game. More chances of survivors either out playing you or wasting your time to get 5 Gens done and open the gates by your 2-3rd hook. Even if you are some godly killer that usually gets 3-4k per match the survivors (especially red ranks) will harass and berate you to no end and the devs are no help. The ones who know don't care and the ones who care don't know.

So you also have 2-3K hours and are tired of facing survivors 15 ranks above you? If you are agreeing, then i assume it must be true. Otherwise, maybe we should discuss the fact that he’s clearly lying? At least acknowledge it? Either that or he’s a horrendous killer with entitlement issues. Take your pick. It’s one or the other.

  • This is one of the worst attempts I’ve seen at trying to get the devs attention to make your side easier with an absolute nonsense retirement bit. What’s even worse, are the people falling for it. “Maybe he took a break”.. lmao what a comical reach. 2-3K hours and facing ranks 15 better than him. Far more likely that he’s full of ######### and went way too far exaggerating his story. Seriously, I’m sorry but how stupid can people be?! I guess bias tends to cloud judgement.

  • @BenZ0 said:

first 1-2min 3 gens done and the last 2 gens maybe in 2-3 min, depends on what Killer you play and how you apply pressure. That is not fun and fair at all. Yes I 4k half of the games and get most of the time 2-3k.. but only if I sweat for my life and tunnel, camp or slugg like hell and that doesnt work out always, still most of the time survivors escape because they get carried by the meta perks. The most escapes are really unstatisfying without any outplay from their side, its just .. yeah D strike, 1min immunity, well just run to the gate then, or with borrow, ez tank and then run to the gate.

Its not fun having 30sec chases trying to slugg as many survivors as possible and win in less then 5min as Killer. I want longer games where the intansity builds up and it gets more stressfull and thrilling for both sides the longer the game goes since there are less pallets over time on the map. The devs pinned a few weeks ago a "what do you think about gen speed?" thread, so I had some faith that the devs try to look into it, but we still have to endure with the new Killer this insane gen speed? But the bigger question is, does the devs even plan to make games last longer? I personally love having decent long games that goes 10min and try to get 12 hooks. I dont like having 5min games with 4 hooks and everyone dies on their first or second hook. The devs didnt said anything to that but I wonder what the ideal game length is?

If you want longer games, why are we only talking about addressing gens though ? Why should it still be ok for you to kill fast, as you state you are capable of doing? You already say you win most of your games as it stands. Fix both sides then. No genrush/no killrush. You should no longer be able to win 5 min games by slugging and tunneling if the survivors can’t win quickly. That’s the problem. That’s why it’s so much more complicated than just addressing gen speed. You have to address killer so they can’t continue to play that style. Do you think killer should be left alone? People would still slug, camp, and tunnel no matter what it is done to survivor. No way do I subscribe to the theory of “killers wouldn’t do that if they had more time”.

  • Why would you do anything to show the killer has won with 2K when that’s a draw? Not really following. You shouldn’t win anything with a tie.

  • You know what song should play when all 4 survivors DC vs Oni?

Oni The Lonely by Roy Orbison

  • By that logic there also no toxic survivors. Their job is to escape using any means necessary within the rules. It’s also understandable that when having escaped from this maniac, they might want to celebrate and dance in the gate. However, the killers rulebook typically states these actions are “bullying the killer”. How can you bully a person trying to kill you, that makes no sense. So I guess there is no such thing as a toxic player on either side, other than something like postgame chat. We are on the same page, correct?

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1097247#Comment_1097247

Really? A comment like "nuh uh I don't believe you" also admits defeat. I win.

You have no counter argument. You said NOED is 100% preventable, even against campers. I told you outside of crawling to the gate, DS is 100% preventable. Both are incorrect by any logical player, but we are going by YOUR logic. You 100% have the option to not pick up or grab the survivor who may have DS... just as you say 100% the survivors should have to cleanse all the dulls to prevent NOED no matter what...even against a facecamper. (You should adamantly speak out against “just do gens” btw, as I guess 99% of players are wrong saying to do this, you are the 1% who looks for dull totems to cleanse them all). Now let’s see you continue to show bias and not acknowledge the issue. I have already admitted how DS can be problematic when it comes to hooking someone else. Unlike you, I’m actually seeing both sides.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1097236#Comment_1097236

Maybe you don't. That's why NOED is such a problem for you. It's not the perks fault, it's your own negligence. The only flaw in NOED is lazy survivors who insist on genrushing.

NOED is a balanced perk. it has huge downsides, and can be dictated by survivors. DS, not so much. You're wrong, I'm right, have a nice day.

A comment like this admits defeat, have a good night.

I hope one day, I can be your teammate while you are camped. I will not touch a single gen and only look for totems...if I was on a SWF team I’d also tell them to go find those bones while you die. When you cry I will tell you i was trying to counter NOED. You will probably have suicided on hook and left anyway though. All the while at least one more will have likely died because of the time wasted. You can’t win...look for totems against a camper? At least one more is probably going to die. Don’t cleanse and he has NOED? At least one more is probably going to die. A shame you are being biased and don’t see it.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1097218#Comment_1097218

No. they can't be legit. The basis for all NOED complaints is "overpowered, no counter". Maybe with old NOED, they would be legit complaints, but not now. It's existence is entirely up to the survivors. They can decide whether it exists or not. Not nearly as legitimate as any DS complaints, cause unlike NOED (and this is a battle you'll never win), there are times DS literally can not be avoided.

And yes, I do cleanse dulls when facing a camping killer. It's a strong likelyhood the killer will get 2 people if they camp, but camping killers are bad at chasing, and getting rid of NOED makes it even harder for them.

TL;DR - NOED can be prevented completely. 100% of the time. It has a HUGE downside. If it procs, it's entirely the survivors fault. DS can not always be avoided. Even with slugging.

I'm sorry - but you're incorrect here. You need to actually think about what is and isn't balanced.

Dont believe you at all, sorry. Nobody cleanses dulls against a camper, come on now. I’m sure the guy on the hook REALLY appreciates you running around not on gens while he’s dying. And Im sure if you are camped, you are thinking “come on guys get that totem by the shack!!” Lol. Let’s be serious. Ok , well DS can be 100% prevented outside of the guy crawling to the gate at endgame. Don’t pick them up or open the locker. So it only needs to be looked at after the gates are opened according to your logic? Are we conceding that? Otherwise, you are not forced to pick the survivor up.

If you’re going to fail to see the flaw in NOED, then I’m going to ignore it with DS.

  • @Frankie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1097204#Comment_1097204

Except when people complain about DS, it's legitimate. Because unlike NOED, there are times where DS can not be avoided, even by slugging.

And the NOED complaints can be legit. Survivors complain about camping? They are told just do gens. Survivors complain about NOED? They are told don’t be lazy and do totems. Don’t you see the conflict there? That’s equally as legitimate as any DS complaint. A killer who does nothing should not get that power, especially when the survivors have no choice. I mean, if you’re going to tell me you cleanse dulls against a camping killer, I’m just going to laugh and not believe you whatsoever. Both perks have issues, I think DS should be disabled if another survivor is hooked, but the timer should be removed. THAT becomes the timer. With NOED, only survivors who have been hooked become exposed. Campers likely get no benefit. That’s fair.

  • It’s obviously a response to all the constant crying about DS and BT. The forum has been loaded with that lately, both but more DS. It’s the reactionary thing, “you want this nerfed?, this should be nerfed too”. It’s not wrong though as there really should be a requirement for the killer to proc NOED aside from a single dull totem.

  • This would probably never work, but what if there was some sort of “quick play” option, where you are thrown into a queue where you can replace someone who disconnected? This could be a separate thing you could get into while also waiting for a normal lobby. So when somebody disconnects, maybe that game pauses for a minute as it searches for players to swap in. That new player would then take over any BP the disconnecter had, as well as receive a very hefty bonus for being a sub. That way it’s not a complete waste of time if you get thrown into a game where you are slugged bleeding out lol. There would be no pip/depip for these players. If there’s nobody to replace the DC’ed guy after a minute, the game can continue but the remaining players can’t depip at least or something. Or maybe there’s some sort of concede option. I don’t know, probably would be a disaster. I have no idea if this type of thing is done with other multiplayer games, and whether it works or not.

  • @Mandy said:

I think NOED is completely fair as it is, it's easy to remove from the game by getting all the totems and if the killer is camping one person then there's plenty of time to do that.

I totally disagree. You can’t waste time running around totem hunting while the killer is camping someone to death. I thought the counter to camping was “just do gens?!” I mean, the hooked survivor is likely to just suicide, rightfully so I might add, if the team isn’t all on gens to punish the camper. They are just wasting their time at that point. If you were camped, would you be cheering on survivors who were running around cleansing? I really doubt it, like everyone else youd probably be yelling for them to get on a gen! You can’t counter camping and counter NOED at the same time. One eliminates the other.

I believe only survivors who have been previously hooked should become exposed to NOED. It’s fair and means the camper would likely get no benefit.

  • What is the counter to NOED though if used by a camper? How do you counter the camping by “just doing gens” and also counter NOED by looking for and cleansing dull totems? Doesnt countering one eliminate the counter to the other?! Nothing wrong with arguing for some type of activation requirement for the killer to even get NOED to proc regardless if a dull is left. That’s not whining.

If DS deactivates upon hooking another survivor, then get rid of the timer altogether. Every killer is arguing that they’ve hooked someone else anyway and weren’t tunneling when they get hit with DS, so it shouldn’t be a problem if that’s really true.

  • @Ramxenoc445 said:

Meanwhile Last Year just overhauled their balance and made it so instead of their Killers being afraid of survivors now survivors are actually afraid as they should've been all along.

Last Year is god awful. Let’s revisit this when it’s dead....I wouldn’t look to that game for any inspiration.

I think what’s being lost is the fact that outside of brand new players, survivors aren’t going to feel fear towards the killer no matter what. These are multiplayer games, each side just wants to win....it’s horror themed, but there’s really no fear. They have to balance it so each side has an equal shot of winning. A lot of killers honestly, can’t handle this as they feel they should be role playing their favorite horror movie and stomping helpless survivors most games. Not going to happen unless you want a dead game. If you want a game with fear, you have to play a single player game....simple as that.

This game is completely broken. How dare survivors complete any gens at all? They should spawn right next to hooks and just wait for you to come down and hook them.

Do you realize how ridiculous it is to complain about a game you still slaughtered them in? It doesn't matter if they did three gens in two minutes or twenty. They only got three done and all died.

If anything this is a damning indictment that killers are too powerful and the unlimited self pick-ups of no mother should be baseline. Until killers are incapable of snowballing a game from nothing to 4k in less than a minute, gen times are more than fair.

    Agree...nerf slugrush!

  • Both sides are equally toxic, and each creates toxic players of the other side through their actions. It’s the cycle of this game.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1074230#Comment_1074230

Your explanation of proxy camping is off. Proxy camping typically has zero to do with BBQ. If there are no auras, they could be on the other side of the map behind a gen, or in a locker. If you are wasting time looking around the hook, you are giving up valuable map pressure. Your fault if you lose gens at that point.

Proxy campers typically have an insecurity about leaving the hook. They will look at local gens/hex totems, but won't go too far. When the unhook occurs, or they see a survivor, they will engage that that point. Most proxy campers are doing it as a strat, not due to no auras on BBQ. If that is your reason, you have a very flawed strategy. I never let no auras keep me in the area of the hook. I'd rather let them off the hook and chase them off gens than sit here hoping they were not in a locker or behind a gen. Then BAM! 2 Gens pop on the other side of the map and they still get this guy off the hook in stage 1. Total waste of time.

This. When it comes to someone who’s strategy is to linger around the hook and proxy camp, the no aura from BBQ thing means nothing. Their strategy is literally to just patrol around the hook and bait a rescue attempt. Doesn’t matter if all the auras show, they’ll still patrol and wait. Then probably come on here and complain and about DS and BT being OP (yes I know DS can sometimes burn non tunneling killers, but I view it as a necessary evil as it helps far more than it hurts)

None of the posts are incorrect though. Survivors, you'll find, will call anything camping.

The comments are completely off-base though as in this case, he is literally describing his style as a proxy camper. Are the survivors wrong for calling him a camper? By ignoring that, you are indeed dodging.

Lets say a survivor posted about him and his 3 teammates all bringing commodious toolboxes with Prove Thyself, and asked why they’re being called “filthy genrushers” or whatever. Would comments about how killers always cry “SWF genrush” whenever they lose be fitting? No, you’d be right there saying he IS a genrusher. In this case, the guy is a camper.

  • What you are describing is a proxy camp/tunneler. You can play how you want, but I mean you can’t get mad over being called something that’s accurate. Just comes down to whether you care or not, as it doesn’t sound like they are wrong. Just don’t complain about DS and BT as you’ll see it a lot.

As was said above, if that’s your style your best bet is just to not read chat. Nothing good will come from it.

  • The only part of gens that is possibly an issue is at the start of the game. At this point the killer is at a disadvantage as they need to find someone first to get their first chase going. If that killer finds someone quickly though, gen speed is completely fine (outside of maybe toolboxes, which I’m considering a separate discussion than base speed). If it takes a little time though, it could be bad. That’s why ScottJunds idea is definitely on the right track in giving the killer an assist at the start, but once they find someone and initiate a chase, that assist is removed.

  • Yeah this would be extremely OP. Imagine a killer like Billy using this. All he would have to do is zoom from gen to gen. They would become constantly blocked and it would be impossible for the survivors to do anything about it. It would be a hostage perk.

Or there’s also Freddy who could just teleport to gens and block them.

Could be something as simple as whenever you use your power to interact with a survivor the mechanic ends

Yeah that sounds good to me. Or each action the killer does significantly reduces the timer. So maybe you can get a little stalking in, but it really drains the timer. You just can’t get close to 2 minutes worth. Hag/Trapper could work similarly to where you’re only allowed to set x amount of traps before the mechanic ends. Maybe thats too complicated though.

I do like this idea, the start for Ghostface & Myers would have to be different, however, because they could all stalk without even getting into a chase and then decimate, and you can't simply set it to "if these killers stalk turn it off" because they're basically always trying to stalk.

Yeah. This is one problem I see with how it relates to those two. I don’t like the idea of “free” stalk time. Something would need to be done there...and maybe toning back the repair slowdown a bit. I’m not sure Trapper and Hag should be getting THAT much setup time. 50% is a little high. I suppose a survivor could just run up to them, but eh I don’t know about that. I still really like the idea though, just needs some tweaks.

  • An idea like this I can get behind, unlike all the “add time to gens!” or “make survivors collect gas!” crap that buffs camping and tunneling. This does nothing for that, and only gives the killer an assist where it’s needed at the start of the game. Sounds fair.

  • It’s simple, because it would be very complicated to balance. For example, survivors need to get gas, which is the popular idea. Ok, what about the top tier killers who really don’t need this additional time? Are their kill rates not going to get completely out of hand? Sorry, but you can’t have killers with 80-90% kills, to where actual good killer players never lose with them. That’s not balance. What if killers just continue camping/slugging/tunneling? (which many would) Is it fair for this strategy to be significantly buffed due to the added time, to the point the killer could constantly win by doing this? How do we stop it from happening?

As you can see, in no way it is as simple as just adding an objective. It would be an overhaul to the game and require many changes. A lot of this comes back to the variance is killer strength. You can’t balance the survivor objective speed to Clown while much stronger killers exist.

  • The game is the way it is because survivors aren’t interesting in playing horror movie kill simulator. This is a PvP game, not a true horror game. Survivors are not scared of the killer for that reason. It’s more competitive than horror. The type of game you’d want would never last. Each side needs to have an equal shot at winning, and many players would find needing to hide all the time boring. The chase is what many people find the most fun. That’s why looping, pallet stunning, all the other stuff you hate exists. Survivors need to have the ability to extend chases and not be downed immediately. Otherwise, where is the fun? Again, this is PvP so while it may technically be called horror, it is nothing like solo game where you are immersed such as Resident Evil or Outlast. In those horror games, hiding and playing stealth is a big part of the fun. Not this game (for most players). So if you were expecting a game where you roleplay as your favorite movie killer, survivors are scared of you and helpless if found, sorry but that just isn’t going to happen.

Gen speeds either need to be fixed (slowed down), or preferably give survivors another objective, because as mentioned, holding M1 isn't fun. I have a whole thread about repurposing Dull totems into another objective for survivors: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121627/ruin-nerf-gen-speeds-and-balance-suggestions

Survivors have more fun when the killer isn’t tunneling or camping. If you are slowing down “genrush”, what are we doing about all those killers who would continue to play that way? You can’t base it off an honor system, where “if killers had more time, they wouldn’t do that”. Wrong, they would. Longer games requires addressing both sides, not just survivor.
