I'll definitely take that advice with Demo. I just don't feel like I get too much value with pop at the moment. It takes a long time to down these guys. I keep getting matched with full red rank teams and they're way above my paygrade. If I don't commit to a chase and I leave an injured survivor just to protect a gen without pop, then they just heal and or do something else. If I over-commit to a chase, I lose a gen. If I don't get enough hooks, I don't get value out of pop. For matches where the skill level is about even, I don't have problems, but I'm having a hard time getting into the mind of the red rank killer because I'm nowhere near the skill required to get to red ranks. I just don't know how I can get better if I never get matches with survivors of my skill level.

I completely understand where you're coming from, and that's one of the primary reasons I don't play killer as much as I used to. Matchmaking is a mess right now.

    Best of luck my friend!

(Tip: Try and look for a 3-gen in a "deadzone" (sides of the map) area, not around jungle gyms. I found one yesterday as Trapper and I definitely would've lost the game if I picked any of the gens in the middle of the map instead.)

  • Hearing Myers and his loud *ss breathing behind me is not fun to experience either.

Yep, I have all the basics of that down. Especially slugging. When I down someone and there's someone else there, I always give them an M1 to the back and then pick the other person up if I don't feel like committing to the chase is a good idea. And as far as the 3 gen goes, I find it difficult to triple gen really efficient survivors. If I have good map control or I'm able to put a lot of pressure, I try to do what I can, but in my typical matches, these survivors are super coordinated and not overly altruistic until the egc.

3-genning is extremely easy to do even against efficient survivors if you know what you're doing & play your cards right.

You mentioned in another response that you're mainly trying to play Hag, Demo, & Myers. Hag and Demo should be your primary killers for 3-genning as you can set up traps/portals. I'd definitely recommended Demo more than Hag for this though.

As Demo you can set up your portals at gens and not only see whenever someone is near one, but you can also teleport back to said 3 gen if you feel like a chase you took is getting too far away/taking up too much time. The survivors can literally do nothing about this because pressure is time and time is your chance to down somebody near your 3 gen and proxy camp. It isn't all that hard, especially if you're running Pop. Hag is the same thing, just without the portals & WAY more likely to get stomped by good survivors.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that finding a 3-gen is as easy as pie too, because if you're constantly forcing survivors off, then they have no other choice than to just do the gens across the map.

I agree wit this. And, actually, they DID add another objective for survivors.

It was called Hex: Undying + Hex: Ruin. The objective was to hunt and find the totems that would regress generators you left while your team tries to stay on the generators for as long as possible. It created a "scavenger hunt" role for a survivor to take, and was buffed with certain perks and add-ons to make it easier to do.

And SO MANY PEOPLE complained about having to do anything other than work on generators that they're gutting Hex: Undying to the point of uselessness. This was a legitimate Secondary Objective that even cost the killer two of their perk slots to engage and people felt so OPPRESSED by having to do anything other than sit on generators for 80 seconds that the devs killed a perk 3-4 months after releasing it.

This is why we can't have nice things. Anything that strengthens killers or make survivor tasks more complicated will immediately be met with a chorus of voices whining about how they can't just faceroll from one match to the next.

Ugh, I was just about to write this and you beat me to it.

What the hell do people even want anymore? Undying was literally there as a secondary objective, they didn't like it, and then when it gets nerfed to the ground they complain they want more objectives. Make up your damn minds people!

  • Jeez, I have 1098 hours playtime this year. I'm genuinely surprised by mine so when I see others with more than that I just think "damn".

But hey, thanks for making this post! Had no idea about the wrap-up & I love the theme that Playstation gives you. Cheers!

  • When I'm playing killer & lose a chase due to bloodlust kicking in because the frames on console are absolute crap. This makes me very aggravated because that has lost me the game more times than I can count.

  • You need to learn different killer tactics & playstyles in order to adapt to how certain survivors play. Camping & tunneling is one of them, although I wouldn't prefer it unless you're in an extremely tight spot because you won't get better if that's all you do. A few tactics I can think of are:

    • Hit & Run: This tactic is simply to get everybody injured as fast as possible & you don't have to be Legion for it. Is there 3 survivors around a gen? Hit one, hit the other, and then chase the third. Keeping them all injured is a good way to either have them all be 1 hit or waste their time healing (extra points if you bring Sloppy Butcher/Thanatophobia/or even Nurses).
    • 3 Gen: This one will almost always work if you don't tunnel vision. If the survivors are looping you at tiles endlessly and gens are popping left and right, see out 3 gens and DO NOT chase a survivor too far outside of that area. If you have Pop & think you can risk 1 chase so you can come back and regress their progress, you can take that risk but just be aware.
    • Slugging: If the match is going by quick & the survivors are being cocky all right next to eachother, once you down one survivor, try and go for another. This may last several minutes & might even fail on you if you don't have perks like Infectious Fright, but you can always try this strat as well to slow the game down a lil bit.

I didn't mention camping/tunneling because you already know about that. I want to also say:

    • This game will never be fun if you take it seriously serious. Survivors can be really frustrating but just try to have fun rather than be on-edge all game.

I'd advise you try out atleast 1 of these because it just might solve your problem.

I wish you the best of luck for both your killer & survivor games!

  • I'll personally vouch for Oni as he has seriously good map pressure & it's just fun to run across the map at 1000 mph.

His perks aren't the best but Nemesis is good if you're running STBFL/Stridor/PWYF/etc.

  • RULE 7: BE PREPARED FOR ######### GG EZ BABY KILLER IN ENDGAME CHAT

  • Just go to https://wheeldecide.com/ and type in all the perks you want & spin. It's what I do and it's a fair substitute until the devs actually add something like that in the game.

  • It really depends on the situation:

    • I won if I had fun. If I didn't have fun in the match, then I didn't win imo whether it was because of a facecamping killer or useless teammates. I'd rather have a meme game than a sweaty one.
    • Or if I feel like I was useful in the match (flashlight saves, long chases) then I will also feel like I have won.

It's all about how you feel after a game, not the scoreboard. Of course people escaping (including myself) feels great too, but that isn't always going to make me feel good if I had a miserable match.

  • I'm pretty sure you cannot check your hours for any game on PS4 but I have a PS5 & the hours are displayed on your profile for whichever game you choose to look at.

I've tried going to therapy in the past but I felt like it wasn't going anywhere, it'd become like a chore to go because it wasn't helping. The therapist was nice but I felt like he didn't understand me at all.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1911242#Comment_1911242

I've contemplated telling my friends how I've felt in the past but I just don't want them to think I'm needy. Even if they do notice me more after that they'll probably just hang out with me out of pity, which is a terrible feeling because then they'll just be dragging me along everywhere. I want to hang out with them as their equal, not some baggage.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1911247#Comment_1911247

Do you know the name of one of those websites? I think talking to someone in more detail could probably help

I've been to doctors in the past but I've never really been diagnosed with anything. I guess I might've left details out when talking to them because my parents try to use mental illness against me. At the same time though I really don't think I have anything and I wouldn't want to self-diagnose. Just not in a great spot I guess

Thank you again for the replies, and I'm really sorry if I seem a bit close-minded, I'm not trying to be

I understand you don't want a pity friendship, but I still think you should tell them. If you feel like they are only hanging out with you because they feel bad afterwards then you don't have to put up with it anymore & you can cut it off.

They cannot read your mind, and nothing will ever get fixed without communication.

  • Hey, I just want to say thank you for reaching out and posting this because I know it can be hard.

I cannot give you the best advice as I don't know you personally, but I will say that you definitely need to try and get rid of that negative mindset because nobody can help you until you help yourself first. It will take baby steps, but you will eventually get there little by little.

I know your parents aren't treating you right, and I know your friends aren't including you. But that is not a reason to throw your future away (school) because when you look back many years from now, you'll regret letting other people dictate how your life plays out. The best thing you can do at this point is be blunt with your friends & try and muster a better relationship with your parents. Tell your friends exactly what you posted on here & if they don't respond with an apology or a welcoming, you need to get them out of your life and meet people who will actually care about you. For your parents, even though it's better said than done, just try your hardest to spend more time with them and develop that bond of both friendship and family. If it doesn't work out, then that is your chance to make them regret how they treated you when you move out ASAP and end up never calling/visiting. Family or not, you don't need toxic people in your life.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm in school just like you are & Covid sure isn't giving me any motivation because I feel like a prisoner and never have the energy to do anything. I imagine the feelings you're having just makes that 10x worse and that's why you need to get these things settled soon so you can get back on track.

If you ever need someone to talk to/play with, I'll be here because I know how it feels to be down in the dumps.

Sorry you had a bad game. Take a break and maybe try again some day. As you can see from this thread there are plenty of people waiting to crap on you for expressing your frustration.

Yeah, don't know why everyone is being so rude here. Obviously there was no need to post this but I've had plenty of games where I didn't pip despite it being a long game with no tunneling/camping.

It's funny how people complain about fixing killer emblems & then sh*t on somebody else for it.

  • A graveyard map with a ghost killer sounds really spooky & cool imo.

No idea as to what power the ghost would have but I think it would really fit the atmosphere of the graveyard.

He actually gets quite a lot value from it. For some reason he is a Killer magnet and also gets tunneled alot. Those 34 seconds give quite a lot of time for us while he is hooked and them save him last second with Borrowed.

This and DS are required Perks for him xD

I've used Camaraderie a few times (because it was one of the only perks I had) and it worked more than it didn't, so I'll give you that.

Tell him to run Camaraderie + DS + OoO + Dead Hard with a purple flashlight and the Shirtless David cosmetic to give the killers a run for their money since they want to tunnel him so much. Atleast they have a reason now, right?

xD in all seriousness though I'll have to try running it again & see if I get any use out of it.

  • Not a killer main because I play both sides equally.

I usually run Dead Hard because it is a strong crutch perk that can make a 20 second chase turn into a 2 minute one if used correctly. Of course you can end up exhausted on the ground (happens a lot), but I'd rather take that chance rather than not having it at all.

Not running exhaustion perks is a good habit because usually you come to the point to where you rely on them (speaking from personal experience), but at the same time you're giving yourself an unnecessary disadvantage because it's likely that everybody else in the match is running a crutch (including the killer).

I will say that I definitely find Fixated + Sprint Burst fun to run as well. It really just depends on the playstyle I'm going for that day.

  • I don't know about survivor, but I would love to see our beloved Demo doggo in an actual dog onesie. It'd be something similar to this: (lazy drawing I did months ago)

    DemoDoggo (3)_LI.jpg

Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind having a Pretty Woman Leatherface either.

  • For survivor:

    Survivor_Cosmetics (1).jpg

    For killer:

    Killer_Outfits_.jpg

I only showed mix-n-matches since you mentioned "combinations".

  • Oni because BAM BAM!

Oh yeah, his soundtrack is a bop too.

  • I can definitely back this claim up as it seems like whenever I attempt before somebody comes to save me, I usually kobe compared to when everyone is on hook & desperate.

    Shame.

  • Haha you'll be fine. Red ranks really isn't all that bad because you actually start to get placed with people who usually know what they're doing (compared to brown ranks who stealth even if the killer is across the map) which makes for better teamwork & a higher chance at escaping.

Since the killers are obviously better in red ranks, my only advice is to practice looping & see what they do so you can adapt. The only difference between red ranks & brown ranks is that killers usually double-back/hide their red light & survivors usually know when to hop on a gen (even if the killer is near) and how to make chases last longer.

    Good luck!

  • The reason why the devs are usually blamed so much is because they are the only ones who can actually make changes to this game, and a lot of times they let echo chambers cloud their judgment and end up nerfing things that don't need to be nerfed, survivor or killer.

There is nothing we can do but complain as a community and call them out on the mistakes they sometimes make because otherwise they won't change. I'll bet you money that BBQ gets nerfed in the near future because survivors keep complaining about it even though it has a easy counter (getting into a locker for like 2 seconds).

That leads to my next point, which is how are killers not supposed to see the devs as survivor-biased? Almost every decision they make seems to point towards that direction. I'm not saying that they never nerf survivor perks, but it seems like they always nerf killers/and their perks even more.

Why the hell is Undying getting nerfed to the ground & DS/OoO isn't even though its been complained about for a long time now? Didn't survivors wants more objectives anyway? I just dont understand the mentality.

Disclaimer: I will say that the devs should not be shamed & harassed because they try their best to make everyone happy even if it sometimes doesn't work out like that.

  • I actually made a tierlist for a similar post a week (or so) ago. Now that I think about it, I feel bad for doing Bubba so dirty :(

Sometimes all 4 survivors serve themselves up though, usually being over confident with their flashlights.

If the survivors all end up being super altruistic/annoying with flashlights/sabo toolboxes, then yeah I'd understand ending the game early because it'd be easy to just end the match then and there.

My main point is, if the game literally just started and you're desperately trying to down every single person from the start even though you don't even know where the others are (usually results to proxy camping a slugged body), it isn't necessary at all.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1909266#Comment_1909266

This is completely untrue. Some killers need to have someone incapacitated ASAP, and then immediately look for another chase.

The game is intentionally designed to have the killer at a disadvantage when 4 survivors are still alive, thus the killer needs to ensure there is always one survivor unable to do gens while in a chase with another. Slugging is the only universally accessible option to every killer.

I was referring to the killer slugging all 4 survivors, not just 1 or 2 (hence why I said people would de-pip).

Obviously slugging 1 person to go after another is a method, I use it all the time.

  • @Milo said:

    No.

I'm assuming OP means 2 killers & 3 survivors in a custom game just for fun.

Otherwise I would've definitely said no too.

  • As survivor: I usually laugh (extinct) until I see that matchmaking didn't do it's job on the endgame match results.

It's always sad to see a brown rank killer DC'ing against a bunch of red survivors because they probably just bought the game/tried killer & won't ever try again for a long time because of the bad experience.

Even if the killer is a high rank, unless they were being toxic, I still feel bad because it feels awful when nothing goes your way an entire match.

As killer: If somebody DC's & I know I was playing fair I usually don't feel bad & just let the other survivors farm unless I've been having really bad killer games & needed to pip.

I just hope that whoever DC's (on either side) just uses that time to get in a better headspace rather than queue up for another match because I've definitely been there before.

  • As many others have said, if I die towards the end of the match (unless everybody is slugged), I'll usually spectate just to see if anybody got out.

I'll also spectate if there was only 2 of us just to see if they get hatch/get killed because they were useless.

I’m not comparing a match. I said plenty of times, as well as other experience this often. It would be a force of motion and I don’t like rushing the end. It would take away the option of playing how we want in the end. Ik 99ing the gates takes away how you want the end to play but that’s where the game clashes. The way it is, you had your chance in the beginning now it’s survivors turn to rein. If it’s a must have, it needs to be in the form of a perk

You have a point (sentence before your last). I guess we both agree on a perk then since most people wouldn't use it anyways.

Thanks for the little debate, it's always fun.

  • That hide & seek gamemode would actually make DBD scary again, well done.

A gamemode I thought of in like 2 minutes is:

Chaos: 20 survivors, 5 killers. Everyone has 8 perk slots instead of 4 & can carry 2 items/4 addons. The objective of this gamemode is to see who rage quits the quickest.

    okok I'll be serious..

Duel: 2 killers & 8 survivors, but not on the same map..

The objective in this gamemode is just like any regular DBD match, except this time the killers are competing against eachother to see who either wins the game the quickest or who had the better outcome.

Here's an example: Autohaven Wreckers is the map. At the end of the map is another Autohaven Wreckers but there is a big glass barrier preventing you from going any further. Through the barrier you can see the other players & they can see you.

If the match on the left had all 4 survivors sacrificed and the match on the right had 2 escape, the left side wins & it will display that on the endgame match results.

Of course you could do the same for survivor as well (the side that has the most escapes), which could make this mode even better if it had a dice roll to see who was competing.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

It's not just the facecamping, it's bloodwarden.

People often 99 the gates if someone is down to prevent BW from progging.

One way to solve this would be to NOT have gates regress if BW is in play, thus also telling survs that it isn't and they can just get out. (Related note: move the threshold of the gate right behind the gate too to prevent the corridor shenanigans.)

That is a great idea though I will say most survivors tend to 99 because of endgame collapse, not Bloodwarden.

  • Slugging at the beginning of the match isn't necessary & just causes frustration. Everyone usually de-pips and the game ends before it ever even started.

Slugging at the end of the match is a method for winning (3 - 4 still alive) or for nobody getting hatch (2 still alive). I've turned many games around because I slugged at the end.

  • I actually saw somebody running Camaraderie on my team the other day and was really surprised.

I have 1k+ hours in this game & that was literally the first time I've seen somebody run it.

  • @matthewg64 said:

there’s been PLENTY of times I, or others go down for the first time when the gates are powered. We ran him the first gen, then again for the last 2 but your idea would totally put me in an undeserved position. Unless I have the fantastic 4 I’m probably getting face-camped, which I play solo, unfortunately. But seriously it maybe could be a good perk, but not part of vanilla DBD

Not my idea as I am not OP.

Although I somewhat agree with you, I do want to say that with or without this change, killers tend to facecamp during endgame to secure a kill anyways so adding this wouldn't change much.

Also, comparing one of your matches to a change isn't a very good argument due to the fact that not every match is going to have the same outcome.

Regarding my last 2 points, I do agree about it being a perk instead. It could be seen as OP by some & a perk is a good way to fix that.

  • I love the open wounds on Wraith. It really gives me Doctor vibes (Surgeon of Slaughter skin). Definitely makes him more disturbing to look at.

Oh yeah, and I'd be booping that snoot all day long if it was actually that big in-game.

Please make more! You're very talented & it's a nice breathe of fresh air to see stuff like this on the forums.

I fantasized about it but By then the survivors won, that should be in their control. The only benefit of EGC really is getting the chance to use bloodwarden and maybe slug and camp for the next 3 minutes so what’s the issue you have with 99ing? I’ve never heard it been described as a meta, it’s just a method. An effective and necessary one from the survivors side. From the killers side well... the gates are powered. And although that’s when stuff tends to go downs it doesn’t mean the killer needs that extra advantage of 100% setting off EGC. Otherwise somebody will ALWAYS be getting chased while the other opens the door, then they’ll most likely go down as EGC starts and the whole camping/slugging the last 3 survivors starts again. We did our 5 gens, regressing exit gates isn’t deserved. As much as I would’ve loved it while I got my ass kicked as trapper rn, somebody woulda been screwed over for no reason.

It is definitely meta because it is used every single time it comes down to the endgame.

Sure the survivors earned their escape, but if somebody gets hooked & they go for the save, there shouldn't just be a door waiting for them. It should be a choice between either saving that person & taking a risk or opening the door, no in-between.

Hell even if the doors do get changed to regress, there will always be somebody near them to prevent that anyway, so what's the problem with it?

  • I love running my chest build on Santa Dweet (Ace in the Hole + Plunderers Instinct + Appraisal + Dead Hard)

    and

I also love running the obsession build on killer (Rancor + Nemesis + STBFL + Pop).

Out of the 2, I would say the obsession build is definitely more fun because it makes survivors think: "Is pallet stunning the killer really worth the mori at the endgame?". Though I will say that I use Santa Dweet more often.

I think the skill checks wouldn't be worth a green or purple add on. I play a lot of trapper and personally I wouldn't run the skill checks unless I thought I was just going to be playing potatoes all day or was just meming. I am almost required to to bring a bag which leaves me with one add on slot left. Usually I would value setting tools or dark traps long before I would put skill checks on my traps. It would make them very niche and only usable in skill check builds. I personally like the consistency with his perks too. Typically trappers stay in one area of the map which actually makes unnerving presence viable outside of small maps and having a large terror radius.

I agree that most people probably wouldn't have a problem with the skillchecks which is why I also offered it to be basekit.
