And yet there are less threads about rampant tunneling and camping than they used to be about DH before 6.1, guess people learned if you complain a lot eventually the developers cave in to demands.

Damn you said what I was thinking. lmao

  • If I choose to tunnel or camp a survivor as a killer, that is my own decision for which BHVR is not responsible. Tunneling and camping are parts of the game, it's as simple as that.

Um, what did I just read? LOL

Who are we to blame but BHVR for holding your hand? I get it, you get to access a broken part of the game that hasn't been touched since the face-camping era. The game is on a different level now, and yes it should be dealt with.

If that means it needs to be removed or disincentived, that isn't up to you. It is up to them and their decision-making. You are not the arbitrator.

Well if they aren't viable anywhere but low MMR you can't expect people to handicap themselves even further by ignoring game mechanics that give them an advantage.

You base this on what? Your own opinion?

My main is Michael Myers and I do quite well on him, so does that mean Michael is S tier? No, but there is some skill involved.

Sorry that you like your killers as easy to play as possible.

Pig still sucks, it's not like minor buffs or 10 extra seconds jumped her up to S tier.

Who says every killer needs to be S tier?

  • That is your opinion about someone, which is not needed here.

Move on to the next thread. Thanks.

Maybe the years of solo queue has desensitized me to dying all the time but I'm actually pretty happy with that last patch and where it put Solo Queue.

While there are certainly things that could make it better and more in line with SWF (specifically those icons that were supposedly in development at one time but evidently they've changed their mind or something), I like the much more difficult survival in the current state of the game. I can go up against M1 killers and actually feel somewhat threatened and escaping actually feels like I accomplished something now instead of just stomping some baby killer.

I mean, you can stomp a baby killer whether they are a Nurse or a Trapper.

I think my problem is that this update has made the game more stale. There isn't really anything that stands out as "threat" is more like we know you suck at chases but now you have more time to end a chase and have your hand held. Not to mention it has overbuffed killers with high mobility and also made it more of a chore to play survivor. The game for me has lost a lot of it's casualness.

Solo Q isn't looking great rn. I did make a post with a few suggestions that could help alleviate some parts of the Solo Q hellhole.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/339781/solo-q-suggestions#latest

Those are actually some really great ideas Mazoobi!

Honestly, I am not sure why some of those things didn't make it with this last patch. I think it would have remedy some of the current frustrations. I have always been a believer that solo Q could still be good if the teammates were competent, but this new patch seems to have brought the worst in some players. Buffs? Ok let's camp/tunnel more and stack even more slow down perks of the same effect. 😂

I went ahead and commented to bump your post. :)

  • Really like these ideas! Especially the ones relating to dealing with Campers.

I would also add that we should be able to see other survivor perks in the lobby simply because it would make it much easier to coordinate if they are going for specific plays (head ons, power struggle etc). Additionally I would not be opposed to in-lobby voice chat as an optional feature.

How is there no counter?? Windows.. long walls…

Oni’s demon strike is the easiest attack in the game to spin. You can’t spin a bubba, and bubba can hold a loop just as tight as you can. Oni can’t use his speed in most tiles.

Lol which flick are we talking about? The 90 or the 180? cuz I can tell you what the answer is gonna be.

Also, I never said anything about spinning a Bubba, I said his chases were much more fun, because while he has those "gotcha" moments where you loop the wrong way he catches you... Oni's power is pretty much "nothing I can do here" in comparison.

  • But I thought killers stopped tunneling after they got their buffs in the last patch? 😏

  • You also have a lot of people who are biased... so what's your point?

I would never put my faith in determining whether the game is "balanced" just because people favor one side over the other.

Whaaaatt, you can’t tell me he’s not terrifying to go against! His sound structure is phenomenal, and his power is balanced. You don’t need to gen rush against an oni. He’s not a nurse 😂

I don’t find him terrifying at all. I base a lot of my enjoyment of facing killers around what chases are like with them. Bubba as an example, can Insta down also and is actually much more fun during a chase. Because you actually feel like there is some counter. Your choices are much more limited with Oni due to his speed, and also many Onis that choose to slug excessively has made him one of my least favorite.

If Bubbas weren’t so stubborn in wanting to camp all the time, I’d say he is the most killer to go against.

  • The less Onis the better for me.

I despise this killer because his power consists of …. Don’t get injured and rush gens because there is nothing you can do against his power and many of them slug to hell and back. 🤮 sorry Oni lovers

I really really can't understand everyone's attitude thinking that this is all about winning or losing. It's also about enjoyment. It's simply not enjoyable to sit in front of a generator and watch a progression bar creep up for an entire minute and a half. Why in gods name would the developers have wanted to make that even worse for survivors?

Because someone at BHVR thinks holding M1 is thrilling and exciting. /s

Seriously though, I am not sure. The reason being thrown around is “killrates”. To which my response is… if it was about killrates, they would have done something more substantial than a flat nerf/buff. Why? Because DBD has gotten to a point where a minor change can affect certain killers differently.

Why buff the length of how long it takes to hold M1 on a gen instead of making it more interactive and have survivors install “parts” (as an example). Why not take this opportunity to buff each and every individual killer who needs it. Rather than universal buffs that benefit one killer more than another who was already in need of buffs.

Mobility for example. Something which the majority of the killer roster doesn’t have. Why not work on making every killer more mobile? While also finding NEW ways to chase and mind-game. So the killer actually feels like a threat (word they used) but like a FUN threat. Not the “Ugh gotta mend for a million years” kinda threat. Looking at you Legion. 🫠

  • At the end of the day anyone can dc if they want to and if they want to suffer the consequences (i.e. timer penalty)

Do they need to give anyone an explanation or an apology? No.

In the broader scheme of things though, it is very apparent that the patch brought the worst out of both sides. Those that now that BHVR is holding their hand will still play in their old ways (scummy) and those that refuse to play the game out because of how some of these effects have trickled down.

    This was expected.

  • Gates are fine as is.

I just leave this image here.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DAS33432YLUR/image.png

With new Gen, the time extended from old Thana 20% is 110sec (450 to 560)

And again, people not freaked out why 2% is the problem. The Devs' thought of buffing Thana was the problem.

    Thank you!

I don't think some people understand the effects perks have as a whole. They only think of the flat % number change, not the overall effect it has. Which is the part that people are complaining about.

  • You're wrong.

I've seen many players on here who I know for a fact play survivor who understand how this perk has been nerfed too hard. What you didn't read was that they also specifically said that killers like Legion and Plague is where the problem currently is. Because there is currently no fair threshold in terms of how much you can slow gens down when they can stack multiple effects at once.

I am not sure what you have been reading but even a 2% extra Thana effect, is going to mean something different for every killer. A killer with high mobility and one that can get fast hits like Legion, yes 22% was too much. Because guess what a lot if not most of them do? stack even MORE perks of the same effect.

Stop pigeonholing every survivor simply because you think they are out after every buffed perk.

  • There is an If in my sentence. It was theoretically speaking.

It's only logical that 3 to 4 kills is a win for killers. If it's only to gain more BP.... Then what's the point?

Again, nobody is questioning your standards of what YOU think a win means or why you do or don't Camp and Tunnel. Literally nobody.

You, however, don't get to question people who are against it and why simply because you think that it's the best way to win. We don't need you to agree, because you've already shown that you aren't cappable enough to not be biased about 1 side.

The game should be balanced so both parties have an equal chance of winning. Camping and Tunneling in it's present form do not provide a fair match. Simple as that.

Like I said, keep on camping if you find it "fun". The majority does not agree with you.

  • Who is claiming that you shouldn't?

The conversation/discussion has nothing to do with you Camper/Tunneler players. We KNOW you will do it even if the devs gave you an extra 50 seconds per gen to catch someone. The feedback is for the devs to pay attention and look at how busted the playstyle actually is.

Don't worry, nobody actually cares if you do or don't have fun camping/tunneling. Go ahead and keep doing it until your hearts content. We'll keep giving our feedback.

  • Dead Hard was fun, and not because it was an overpowered perk.

It was because it offered a different type of interaction with killers who were actually competent. They reworked it and took the fun aspect of the perk and made it into a boring dead perk.

I actually enjoyed going against the perk because unlike the SB users, Dead Hard players would at least play risky. I find survivors who play it too safe boring af.

No, solo queue problems are purely communication. If a SWF group has 2k MMR and a solo queue player has 2k MMR, in theory they should be equally skilled. If anything i'd argue the solo player is probably the better player in terms of mechanical skill due to not having coms. Yet still that solo queue player will lose a significant amount of their games simply due to their team being unable to communicate with each other.

You also aren't acknowledging how many perks SWF truly get for free simply by being on coms. In fact, they get many other things that you can't even get via perks.

So if solo Q problems are purely communication based, then tell me how come I can bring Kindred and survivors can clearly see that the killer is nearby, yet all huddle around a hook like they're about to have a bonfire, instead of just doing gens? Tell me how communication makes players go from inept to competent. When even with a perk like Kindred which is BETTER than comms could ever do (because it actually shows you real time auras) couldn't even get them to perform efficiently during the match.

I am acknowledging that there are small advantages that swf teams have. I am just not on the same page as you that they make THAT much of a difference. For reasons I've already explained.

My swf team usually benefits more from the fact that they have a brain and also that they are more willing to do what others won't. Which is things like taking a hit. Not letting me go to 2nd phase... things that have nothing to do with comms. Reliability isn't a skill, its simply a choice. You can choose to try to be the one who hasn't done one gen meanwhile everyone else has worked on at least one, or the one who could have healed while someone was getting slugged but was too scared to do so. Those are the frustrations I find in Solo Q.

Do Killers really need 4 slowdowns? Seems like overkill to me.

I laugh everytime I see people trying to slow the game down and then when you run them you can clearly see why.

The devs do be handing out hands for players to hold. It fascinates me how they don't understand in 2022 the effect of buffing specific perks will have on certain killers like Legion. He is just boring to go against at this point.

  • NGL There were some aspects that maybe would seem outdated today about old Freddy but I did love the way his ability to put people to sleep looked like.

As survivor, knowing he was there and not necessarily where was cool too. I actually like some of the stuff they added like the clocks, but I wish they would have more so incorporated it into what was already there, not changed it drastically if that makes sense.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3111400#Comment_3111400

I was merely using that as a point. Something as simple as "i'm working a gen" is impossible to communicate out without perks.

The problem is the devs designed this game such that information is a limited resource in the form of "perks" but SWF get literally dozens of these "perks" for free, given that they are simply on coms with each other.

It doesn't make much of a difference to an experienced player. I am not saying Solo Q shouldn't get some form of "This person is doing x" "That person is doing y" "That other person is doing z"... but to the level that you are describing when not even in a common swf group this isn't happening? Nah. The guy talking sounds like he is in panic mode the whole match.

If you are familiar with maps, totem spawns, perks on the killer side (if you play killer), how a killer is playing (example: they slug a lot) you'll be better prepared for the match. A lot of those pieces aren't going to fall into place even if the teammate is handing out information about killer whereabouts and whether you should be on a gen or not.

From my experience a lot of Solo Q players lack a lot of that... so my main frustration is them not getting on a gen even when it is something obvious like me being the obsession and the damn bones are rattling the whole time only for me to finally go down and see people crouching around the map because they somehow think the gen is going to bite them.

In the new meta it has made those frustrations more potent because the pace of the game has slowed down even more at default now.

I do agree with one thing you said... the devs design perks to act as band-aids while overlooking the problem this creates... like when you can stack on passives of the same exact effect, and not giving the proper PRE-LOBBY information tools such as being able to see perks prior to entering a match... seeing what everyone is bringing to the table. An icon indicating your location per entering the match. Etc etc.

The game has evolved way too much with perks literally giving survivor location almost for free. You run by a totem? Yep killer saw you with Undying... You are meters from a locker? Yup killer saw you with Darkness Revealed... It's like there is no longer a sense of the killer using their senses and skills to find you. If there is it is very minimal, and even with that too easy on killers with high mobility.

  • @GeneralV said:

I wasn't, and won't be, around for that combo but from what I've read it is an extremely annoying combination that most people were glad was gone. DBD has countless things that should come back, but perhaps this was not one of them.

    The MoM nerf is dumb.

I don't think the DS nerf is something that cannot be adapted to, but it certainly wasn't needed. And I think the killer buffs should have come in the form of perks that affect the intended areas, such as Fire Up and STBFL.

    So yeah...I think I agree.

DBD has had countless of things come back but Freddy wasn't one of them. 😥

Welcome to the party. This is the core problem with the balance of this game. SWF like this exist:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtENJZ_z0zw

They have made maps that have areas that have designated numbers and call out to each other.

Meanwhile people in solo queue can't even say they are working a gen. Until this problem is fixed, this game will never be balanced.

Why do you need someone to tell you the killer is on them to work on a gen?

Expecting THAT is actually the problem. Any competent experienced player knows they need to be on a gen, not wait until someone is being chased.

Meanwhile my team and I are talking about a job promotion someone just got and what I had for lunch.

  • I understand why people are upset. So letting them vent and also letting them give feedback on something that is important to them is fair.

I think everyone needs to take accountability and that includes the developers. You know the ones actually making changes that are ruining players’ experiences.

This whole community could be better, the problem is it often feels like everyone is fighting with each other over stuff that really they have no control over. Meanwhile the ones that do have control over changes (the devs) seem to be far from connected from their own community and just watching them bicker at each other from their seats.

    Sigh.

    They are aware of it.

It's just...really, really hard to solve. I can't think of many ways to make this gap smaller that won't either require a top down rework of game mechanics or bork the SWF versus killer matchup further.

Is it overkill? I'm not sure, and neither are you. It's going to come down to what the devs' numbers say, and that'll take some time.

Who, exactly, is saying 'suck it?'. I can't think of anyone offhand.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104975#Comment_3104975

As you said - 'not exactly'.

Skill issue, in the sense of 'survivor is about coordination, and solos tend to be less coordinated' - sure.

Dead Hard, particularly at higher MMRs, probably let people drift up higher than they should have been.

MMR will help with this, it'll just take a while. And people also need to understand that the stated goal of this patch was higher kill rates.

I feel like you're stuck on "higher kill rates" which that was only a portion of what the patch intended to do.

When it comes to the perk changes themselves they were very specific about changing the meta. Meaning that they did not want people to feel like they could stack on multiple passive effects, they did not want people to always feel the need to use DS and BT. Those had their own purpose in the patch.

Regardless of how you may interpret their goals, the patch (as it's been stated previously) made the gameplay more boring. Does that mean that they shouldn't have done anything at all? No. It just means that they did as little as possible to address issues that were only emboldened to be greater issues than in the past. There was nothing innovative to address issues like map pressure for M1 killers with no mobility. Camping and Tunneling remained the same if not worse. Etc etc.

So in essence, if killrates trump fun/skill then by all means this patch did that. Now killers can still stack multiple passive perks of the same effect. Does not mean that what they did, didn't mess with the balance that was lacking in other various areas.

  • Oof what the hell did I just read....

    Untitled Image

  • Balance is a give and take, so if people feel like BHVR made the wrong call, I do not blame them for expressing their concerns/opinions.

The devs could have still gotten what they wanted (higher killrates) via other methods that didn't include holding M1 longer on a generator. What about just making individual buffs to killers who need it? As an example. Which they didn't do. They did a flat buff to all killers (those who did not need it included) making other issues that were already obnoxious to begin with like Camping and Tunneling.

This was a huge missed opportunity on their part to do something more innovative, rather than keeping already frustrating playstyles and mechanics. So I guess if taking the fun out to bring killrates higher was the goal, then sure, that they did accomplish.

As someone who has often been on their side and fully supported them, I can still say that this patch was a mistake for the most part, and I couldn't be more disappointed.

Other than dead hard? Holding W heal speeds (which still are busted), the amount of second chances that survivors had, medkits (which are still busted), gen speeds, decisive being able to be used at end game. There are plenty I can list. Also how am I being not mature? The get good argument is exactly the right call here. A lot of survivors are now saying to revert the patch because of killers being too strong.

Hold on... you think holding W is busted? Like as in going from one tile to another to avoid getting hit??

My friend, may I remind you that there are anti-loop killers in this game? Artist, Deathslinger, Nurse, Pyramid Head, Nemesis.... Holding W is the proper way to play against them when you consider that pallets aren't really strong against them.

"The get good argument is exactly the right call here"

Imagine thinking you have an argument when you say stuff like that. Like, at least entertain me if you are gonna tell someone to "git gud" , instead of saying things like holding W is busted. 😂

Do killrates actually mean that much? Devs consider 2 kills a draw and the balance golden standard, but if those kills are gotten at the EGC because after 5 gens the killer managed to finally down someone, camped them and then altruism gotten the better of someone else and he died going for the save, was the game balanced? The "2 kills" crowd would say it is, but I don't think so. BHVR should instead look at the "hooks per gen done" stat rather than "total kills" as a balance measure, but I suppose that's a bit off topic for this thread.

To BHVR they do, afterall this is why they chose to make all these buffs.

  • @FrostyEyesSusie said:

Most of us are the silent majority who actually wanted a fair challenge instead of playing a bully simulator with free escapes like it was before. IE the opposite of the sourpusses who are now DC'ing and suiciding on first hook to "protest" the DH and DS rightful nerfs.

Many survivor mains do not share your opinions. They actually say the exact opposite.

I am not understanding how you come up with "wanted a fair challenge instead of playing bully simulator" when the killrates were not low enough to warrant that opinion. 55% killrates doesn't in any way shape of form constitute to "Bully Simulator".

So that is why I ask who this "we" is. Because it's really you, along with a handful of people if that is the case. Which again, I do not for one second believe you are a survivor main. Especially when you feel the need to add that part to the title and a name like FrostyEyesSusie (a killer's name literally being your username), like it somehow makes your stance more credible.

  • Who is "most" of us?

You don't speak for anyone but yourself dear.

Glad you like the patch... but don't go parading that it was a "free escape" before. What a cringe statement to make honestly.

Btw I don't believe you are a survivor main.

  • So without assuming too much because you are not specific enough.

What exactly was busted? Because arguably the only perk that was "busted" was Dead Hard. That isn't what people are complaining about.

thats 12.5 seconds per survivor. if you do even ONE dull totem then thats already two survivors worth of of wasted objective time, and i see dull totems broken every day. I dont want to hear anything about 12.5 seconds per person as much time gets waste clicking, teabagging, and on dumb stuff like totems and chests.

The killer shouldn't have slowdown perks. Are the survivors going to give up their good perks? seriously the entitlement. survivors can have brand new parts but killers can't have slow down.

if they camp and tunnel before and after the buff then the buff isn't really the problem is it?

Ive played a ton of both. everyone is playing them, thats half the complaints atm. I was bored playing the same old killers before. I'm happy now. I never saw legion or plague before because they weren't in a good place. Now they are

every single game since the patch "oh no its thana" really? you think that small buff changed things THAT much?!?! Both AS legion and against them I see survivors sitting there butts on totems and chests. just now i ran past TWO open chests, and after i died watch a steve do a totem. I dont CARE about how much longer it makes gen takes when half the players aren't even DOING the generators in the first place

More importantly, EVERY match I see people healing. EVERY match I see them cleansing. Go ahead and heal against legion. youre just going to get injured again, have to MEND again, then heal again if youre playing that way. There is a time to heal sure, but people are suddenly healing EVERY time, and cleansing EVERY time. It's infuriating hearing people complain about this when for no real reason everyone just stopped playing correctly.

Not to mention everyone ALSO complaining about the camping and tunneling, and legion is the WORST KILLER IN THE GAME FOR CAMPING AND TUNNELING. Literally if legion tunnels you their ENTIRE KIT becomes disabled, and you are just playing against another survivor who has a knife. point blank.

Killers cannot win for losing in this game when it comes to complaints. seriously. "we hate campers and tunnellers but we ALSO hate the ONE killer who cannot do that thing because that killer is slightly more annoying than usual". That is the entire argument.

It does when killers have an additional 50 seconds added to the survivor's objective time.

It does when everyone and their mother want to stack multiple passive slow down effects.

It does when killers still Camp and Tunnel even AFTER a buff.

I played Plague and I never ever ran Thana, because I knew how boring it was when I played against it. Maybe you should put yourself in their shoes and go play against it back to back and see how you like it. It becomes a boring match and there is nothing wrong with saying that. Boring is boring.
