  • I would rather them just rework the way hooks work and make DS something else.

They need to deal with SWF first, shes the only killer capable of handling those types of players.

    Huh? According to who?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

They nerfed this Perk because of Nurse. If Nurse stops breaking the game and stops holding back Perk Design, you can have fun and smart Builds all you want.

But it was clear from the beginning that this Perk will go hand in hand with Starstruck on Nurse and the Devs nerfed the Perk instead of tackling the Problem itself (which is Nurse).

She is literally the bottleneck of the whole killer roster.

Anything they could do to help weaker killers would be a direct buff to her.

  • I find Sadako one of the more fun killers to face and play as. Idk why anyone would dc against her.

I don't understand why you're being rude for no reason. I literally started my post off with "This is another cliché rant about a match I just had." It's not that big of a deal. Like you've said, we see rants like these everyday.

Maybe because I don’t feel like these posts add anything constructive.

Why are you posting it to begin with? Like, there is virtually no competition and if you already feel like it’s “cliché” then you know this is true.

Toxic players exist on both side.

  • The only way I attempt is if I know I have a shot.

Some of my most successful saves have been while basically risking my own skin.

Like this one time a Trickster was face camping and only turning back and forth ever so slightly… so I timed myself and used SB to get there before he could turn, I had enough time to get the teammate and vault a window near by so he couldn’t not focus both of us. The teammate had BT and I ended up getting injured but made it and so did they.

So what I would actually encourage teammates is to look at the situation and what you have to work with. Plus ultimately if you actually care about escaping yourself.

  • We already know this.

Thats why the feedback is brought to the developers, not the killer players.

You can’t deter someone from using the easiest “tactic” in the book, when the development team isn’t doing much to create gameplay styles that encourage otherwise.

  • You gotta remember killers in 2022 still believe Camping and Tunneling are actual skillful playstyles.

Hanging around to look around the wall before turning back to chase the same survivor takes a lot of work. Walking back to the hook is hard. 🙄

  • They still need a full hook re-work.

There are two parties that are still getting the low end of the totem pole: The killer who do not camp and survivors in general.

I think these devs aren't considering factors like a hook being in a dead zone. 10 seconds mean nothing. They need more practical/meaningful CORE changes. By allowing something like PH's cages, they are giving that survivor more of a chance to "reset" before tanking on a 1v1 because the killer wants to make it easier on themselves by simply singling out that one survivor. Not only that but it would also prevent survivors from insta-farming and allowing the killer to have another free down.

The simple fact that they added:

"We released this feature with safe numbers to ensure that things don’t get out of hand."

When we all knew very well that even regular BT's timer wasn't enough which was already above the 10 seconds they just added, tells me they STILL do not know/understand their own game. It's mind-boggling that they are acting like killers only started camping and tunneling yesterday, when there is a lot of evidence showingcasing the opposite.

    Finally, I love this one...

Wishful thinking: "We hope you’ll find these improvements to be much more effective in discouraging the Killer from chasing the same Survivor immediately after they’re unhooked."

    Reality:

    Untitled Image

  • Yay more band-aid fixes that don't actually fix the problem. 🙄

  • Better MMR that isn't solely based on Escape rates.

I think you are over concerned about the impact things like a ping system, voice comms would have on SWF. Because tbh you just need experience to understand most of the things that SWF have access to.

    • "The totem is in the shack." "I had a gen at 50% at shack"

Gee thanks, I actually happen to know totem locations and I can also use my eyes to see which direction survivors went.

The game isn't what it used to be, so for me I don't agree that at least a ping system, load out information AT start of lobby, etc. Is going to suddenly "break" SWF. In fact, I think it would make the game more balanced than it currently is. Like I can't even fathom someone worrying about SWF atm in the middle of a big buff for killers and Camping and Tunneling still not being addressed.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3143046#Comment_3143046

Camping and tunneling only work when there is a weak link that is bad at the game.

The base-kit buffs Killers got were pure QOL improvements.

10 second on Generators mean basically nothing.

10% attack cooldown, Pallet breaking speed and Durvivor speed boost duration are barely noticeable.

The faster Bloodlust build-up only affects T2 and T3, at which point the Survivor wasted so much time the Killer will lose the game, if the Killer can even build up Bloodlust, as most Killers can't while using their Power

You can mask it as “QoL” changes but it doesn’t change the fact that it inevitably made those playstyles more present because the devs essentially gave you more time.

I love how you downplay the changes as if they weren’t significant. It’s especially noticeable to those of us who did not need the extra 10 seconds or the faster pallet breaking etc.

I mean I guess if you needed your hand held I can understand but otherwise I disagree that these changes didn’t change “much”, cuz they did.

  • @Phasmamain said:

How did they get rid of survivor perk dependancy? OTR is basically required in solo queue and PT is a must quick due to insane regression + longer gens

i was just thinking how much exactly did they change perk dependency on survivor 😂

  • Imagine thinking stealth is viable. Maybe in the bottom parts of MMR… maybe.

    ”Breaking chase is possible…”

Not even sure what that one means, as I have never seen a survivor “break” chase.

Not saying that part of the reason why solo Q is bad is also survivors who are at fault, but let’s not pretend like there aren’t things that are missing. Such as a Ping System… Load out information from each survivor, Voice comms.

Also let’s not pretend like these two playstyles (Camping and Tunneling) aren’t problematic for the health of the game and also unbalanced.

Not everything is about someone “getting better”, it’s also about having an equal chance of winning.

  • What I think is funny is how behind this post is.

Hasn’t PTB been out for days now? 😂

  • I'd argue that it is unfun on both ends.

  • @ImNotBobDylan said:

Oh yeah someone whose entire history is only about killer buffs and complaining about old Dead Hard, makes a topic to explain the world that it is now a fantastic & balanced perk

OP, would you mind recording some of your own survivor gameplay and show us your skills with this fantastic perk? I would particularly like you to demonstrate these "mindgames / precise timing" you're talking about, specifically against Legion, VPN players etc.

It's because they obviously don't use the perk themselves.

Do you honestly think they would be complimenting it if they themselves were actually successful at using it?

That's like saying "THE NEW THANA IS GREAT!" just for the sake of leading someone to believe it's actually great. When even people like me who play survivor also, does not believe it is. It is still bad on Legion/Plague but on the rest of the killer roster it sucks.

  • The problem breaks down into different parts.

    • Survivor Entitlement/Lack of skill - Yes, but not in the way you think. Some survivors are so entitled that they aren't willing to give up a hook or even take aggro. Leaving the only person taking aggro to basically 1v1 the killer and die. In a game that isn't meant to be a 1v1. On top of that they refuse to touch a gen, especially when there is 3 left... again, because they don't want to take aggro. Whether it is because they lack skill, or know they are going down in their 2-3 second chase. The answer seems to boil down to:
    Untitled Image
    • The killer is actually good - This isn't a bad thing nor a problem. We WANT killers to be good. The problem becomes when MMR disproportionally queueing players up where it shouldn't.
    Untitled Image
    • Survivors lack resources - Killers with less experience Camp/Tunnel people regardless of their match pace. When you add to the fact that these two playstyles have not been managed or adjusted via giving survivors more resources outside of some band-aid perks ( player to player loadout information, systems like a ping sytem, voice comms etc.) It becomes more problematic in a scenario with solo queue survivors.

Bottom line. You can't blame killers (yes even when they are playing scummy) for every single thing that happens during a match where a survivor is just being plain incompetent. Just as you can't blame survivors who have yet to have certain perks and resources outside of that to have better/more manageable coordination.

I have no reason to believe that survivors are actually improving as you claim. I just had two matches where no one was giving up on hook, but also I was the only one actually committing to gens. Because again, survivors will not touch a gen unless they are at full health, and/or if healthy they would rather YOU (the injured and only person on the gen) to take that hit. I suspect a lot of people giving up are also people who are frustrated with those type of entitled selfish survivors.

  • They are trying to get it out of their system before they get nerfed.

  • Who is arguing Tunneling's vailidity?

Just because something is "valid" "within the rules" "legit" does not mean it is balanced. Period.

  • @Laluzi said:

I love that "don't share codes" header. Well, what else are we supposed to do with it when you gift something most players who were here last year already have?

  • @tendyhands said:

I almost made it all the way up the basement stairs with the 5 seconds! So glad survivors got something out of the update.

  • @Ryuhi said:

...isn't that a good thing? I thought people hated being slugged since it was forcing non-interaction upon them.

Except that it depends on the instance.

I don't think anyone cares for being slugged on the ground if there is a purpose like waiting DS out. If killers can simply slug until the dying state timer is over, because they refused to pick anyone up, then I think we can assume the reason is to be a D.

Since the actual topic is about DS and not any other reason. We can assume that they don't respect DS because if 5 seconds wasn't going to stop them from continuing to tunnel, then 3 is definitely not.

  • @SuzuKR said:

It's a strategy, the base counter is also a strategy: Making use of their lack of pressure on others to slam gens.

You are not meant to have a hard counter to a strategy, that is bad design. Even things like Reassurance can be prevented by killing a survivor before they get close enough to activate it. Hard counters take precedence over skill, which is bad.

Yeah and the sky is blue.

It doesn’t take away the fact that it is not balanced nor is it “fun”. One would say the person on the hook doesn’t get to participate in the match. Which is bad for the health and prosperity of the game.

It is bad a bad look and will not attract new players. Especially because nothing is in place to suggest that survivors have options beyond perks. Imagine telling someone new who doesn’t know what DBD is and you get to the part where you explain how the majority of killers camp a survivor out with the survivor unable to do much and only holding out so the rest of the team can hold M1 longer. It doesn’t sound like fun.

Also since when is Camping a skillful tactic? Because the devs told you so?

Thank god you’re not in charge of game design. Because those takes are terrible.

  • A mostly killer sided buff patch dropped weeks ago so your title doesn’t make sense.

  • Where does it state that the game is balanced around survivors not having information? Aside from forum opinions being used as a source.

It isn’t 2016 anymore. You have an array of information perks yourself where it has pretty much nullified stealth/immersion which was also a big part of the game.

I just can’t agree with that statement anymore considering that killers have wallhacks galore meanwhile still complain about comms.

  • When you need a good laugh, just read threads like this one.

  • Because when you give them longer gen times, they take advantage and Camp.

Its a bit stronger then a band aid. This perk is great panacea of camping fixes. Ya being charged to fix a core issues is assine but lets not sell short how fundamentally reassurance changes dbd.

It's 6 meters. 6 meters means two things. Killer will hit you, and you aren't on a gen.

    A Band-aid fix at best.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Against fair play killers, thing is still okay. You dont spend time to search for Ruin/Undying anymore.

Against killers who tunnel/camp... Just let them gain MMR and taste their own medicine from far better survivors.

Anyway, I feel the gameplay is less depth than before. Killer could use Noed to punish gen rush survivors, survivors have more chance to gen rush against campers. Now, its all about Gen rush because you know it will be a 3K with hatch escape if killer downs someone early and decides to camp/tunnel.

Its not about escaping, it was all about cheap playstyle from killers that got buffed with the patch. But again, let those taste their own medicine

Yea and that's the thing... in my honest opinion, the patch just made the game feel less fun in general. I am not saying it's less fun because there is no winning. It's just in solo queue, things were already bad but with the new patch it has amplified those frustrations.

You are @ing someone who I know is completely against the killer changes that pretty much only affect killers below S-tier outside of gen slowdown, im not sure about the other guy but you are essentially creating a vacuum depending on him. I am not "attacking him" nor am I trolling your posts. You essentially said "this patch is unplayable for survivors am I right guys who agree with me?"

You don't have less resources they have simply changed. Unless you are going against iri tag blight/ nurse it is quite literally a skill issue. I am not discounting that mmr has been terrible for a descent amount of players since the patch dropped. But me as a blight player with extremely high mmr am going against survivors who are performing much better in every way just with a different meta, not because of there perks but because high mmr has shifted to the actual good survivors instead of the e,w, pre throw survivors. These survivors aren't just SWFS, they are also solo queue. Everyone except low mmr PLAYERS have been unaffected by these changes other than E survivors. This game and no game in general will every be balanced around low mmr, high mmr survivors are doing just fine with a few outliers. I do agree solo queue needs some information buffs but that is all.

First off, just because I am tagging specific people doesn't mean that I am basing my own opinion entirely off of theirs. I have read some of their own opinions which align with some of the stuff I've experienced in Solo Queue. It doesn't need to go deeper than that.

The reason I felt you were half-way trolling is because you only added their name and talking about how they are "the most survivor biased person on the forums". That one sentence was your first post, tell me how that doesn't sound like you are just trolling. Imagine if I went to a thread and tagged you and the only thing I said was "Sava the most biased killer player on the entire planet"... how would that even be remotely productive?

You are welcome to view the changes as you wish. Survivors DO need more resources because the game is no longer what it used to be. Especially now with the new patch.

  • Yeah just like when killers forget what genrush actually is.

    Moving on.

  • That random teammate:

    ”What’s a gen?”

    B060E454-5F72-46FA-A080-A5880EF308E9.gif

  • Some people are just lazy and scared in this game.

  • Why do you care if people complain?

This perk is a band-aid at best.

  • We've always known this though.

I never had issue with playing killer pre-patch. Let alone post patch.

Anyone having difficulty in the new patch should really be questioning themselves if killer is the right role for them.

  • I believe it’s a combination of different things.

    • MMR not working as intended. This is very clear when you have teammates who a) act like they are allergic to gens b) refuse by any means necessary to take aggro/ hook stage even though they themselves haven’t even been found.
    • Another is lack of features that would make solo and SWF actually fall in line with the game’s current balance. We have an array of slow down perks and aura reading perks on killers that it is not hard to find someone anymore. A ping system should be put in place for survivors as well as optional voice chat in the lobby (let’s start with that) and the ability to see each other’s perks because there are too many perks that are so niche they only really work if teammates actually work together.

I really think the devs missed the mark is addressing more survivor quality of life features. The game has evolved from where it once was and you are more encouraged to work together now than ever before.

If they could add/fix those things and rework hooks so that we find a middle ground on gaining pressure via other means and discourage camping/tunneling alltogether. I think the game would be in a healthier spot on both sides.

  • Uh the killers don’t even look like the killers.

They look drawn for the purpose that they were. To appease the thirsty people, not for DBD.

  • At this point the game isn’t what it was once, so for me it has been made more balanced around SWF, considering how many slow down and aura perks there are. The game is no longer about immersion as much as it was. More than 50% of the time the killer knows where you are.

  • Don’t worry maybe a hook rework will be here with the Nurse rework 😂

You don't need to be in a vacuum. Every thread I have looked at since joining the forums he has been there saying completely survivor sided things. I'm all for balance, but one sided opinions in a vacuum is bad.

I understand but I can vouch for them that they are not one sided. In fact there are things they and I don't agree with, specifically where SWF vs SoloQ is concerned. Which is what prompted my initial post to begin with. (Hence why I tagged them)

I just don't appreciate when people are making half-way trollish posts about someone, especially when it doesn't add anything to the conversation.

Regardless of which side people might sound like they "side" with. It's just not a good look to attack someone simply because of that opinion of them exists in your head.

"As for the people who like to camp and tunnel that aren't in the "new" category. Which you seem to be in... What about them? They are the ones who make those experiences unfun."

Thats not true. They portray me as a camper and a tunneler and I won't let that sit with me. Sry

Let me remind you, you created an entire thread telling people to "accept" Camping and Tunneling in it's current form. You have a problem with people suggesting other ideas to bring the game more current to 2022, because you seem to be stuck on "It's been this way since 2016", when in fact many things that were, no longer are.

Ever heard of the phrase "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's a duck?"

I am not portraying you as anything, but if you are telling me that you don't camp and tunnel all while you are telling people to just accept as if it's enough proof to prove you aren't doing it. Then sorry to say but that makes you sus in my book.

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3123464#Comment_3123464

I have over 7500 hours of DBD experience and I can tell you that I am not a constant tunneler or camper as you portray me here. But I can assure you that camping or tunneling someone to death is fun sometimes and you can limit that but you should not remove it from the game.

Buddy, I am not portraying you as anything. I think you have done a good enough job to portray yourself how you want to be perceived as.

I simply have no reason to believe that someone who cares this much about Camping and Tunneling wouldn't already be doing it themselves. If you weren't doing it, then it shouldn't affect you, right?

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3123446#Comment_3123446

That's all true and also belongs in the LIMIT section, which I think is absolutely fine.

But you also forget that there are many players who like to tunnel and camp. What about them? They like that style of play (especially newbies). That should be taken into account

So you think new people actually LIKE to camp and tunnel? Did it ever occur to you that maybe they are just new and they don't know any better? Like all of us were at some point?

As for the people who like to camp and tunnel that aren't in the "new" category. Which you seem to be in... What about them? They are the ones who make those experiences unfun.

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3123414#Comment_3123414

Sorry, but I need to be able to make my own decisions in the game as a killer. It doesn't matter what play style (2016 or 2022) I follow

There is a reason why game developers adjust and change their games. They want the players to have the best intended experience possible, and usually it is a positive experience. DBD is no exception.

I will reiterate... if they changed Camping and Tunneling in a way where it almost didn't exist WHILE improving other parts of killer which DO feel much more rewarding (chasing, mind-gaming), more map control via mobility or otherwise, more use of the environment to create more interesting interactions with survivors... etc All of that alone trumps any camping and tunneling you seem to be attached to.

You are wanting to keep the old stuff... old. While many of us that also play killer want the old stuff new and improved.

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3123391#Comment_3123391

Oh, and you think if BHVR does away with camping and tunneling it will get better ? 🤣

Yeah because they could improve other parts about killer. Like giving everyone some type of mobility ability. Improving specific killers who need it, rather than giving universal buffs that only make killers who dont need it stronger... etc etc.

Currently I am willing to bet that because of Camping/Tunneling they aren't able to buff killers in some way.

Unlike you, I think change is good, when it is balanced, that is.

  • @PNgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3123325#Comment_3123325

It's been part of the game since 2016, what's not to understand? Is it that difficult?

I am certainly not an arbitrator and If BHVR wants to change something they will, I am not worried.

Restrict and make less effective ? yes

    remove completely ? No

The player should make their own decisions in the game and if they have the option then they have the right to use it. (camp, tunnel)

So I am guessing you would have felt the same way back when they added Exhaustion to perks right? Why did we need exhaustion it's been that way since release? 😂

Good, then you know that telling people to just "accept" something isn't going to fly. They also would like to have fun playing the game they paid for.

As for "removing" it depends on what that means. If it means it is going to make it impossible for killers to camp but not lose the pressure they have via other means. Then yes removing it sounds much healthier.

The problem is you aren't even trying to be non-biased and it is showing by the simple fact that you want to keep an old unhealthy playstyle in a game that is nowhere near being where it was in 2016. This is 2022, the game needs to represent that, not 2016.

1 … 9 10 11 12 13 … 116
