Uh... are you sure? I have 350 hours in that game, am account level 110, and am playing right now and I have never seen this lock out.

Yes, if you dodge too many times ( I don't know the exact number) you get timed out. A message will pop up the next time you search for a queue.

  • Who said the game is dead?

Also, isn't this like your second post on the same topic? Why not just add to the one you've already made this month.

That is all fine and good, but I disagree with the idea that you should have the power to ditch people for running perks you do not like.

They wouldn't dodge if it meant that they were going to get timed out.

Evil Dead the Game has this and it works perfectly. You get like 2-3 dodges before you are timed out from queueing up again.

I see upsides and downsides to it. Ofc the upsides overwhelm the negatives. But I know if I ever saw someone loaded up w/ No Mither, I'd just straight up dodge. Which would be unfair to the person running it, because maybe they're going for adept or who knows.

I know people would judge others and lobby switch depending on what people brought. Kind of why the survivor/killer ranks have been hidden. People started using that as a metric.

Or you could end up with people who still will just give up on hook because they do not like your load out.

The benefits of showing the survivor's perks and items outweigh the risks. This is a feature the game should have had from the start considering that a big chunk of what happens in the match relies on teamwork. Something that would be much better coordinated if people knew what they were running.

They could additionally add a feature that punishes them, by giving them a temporary penalty if the party dodges too often.

Also OP @MaudetteClorel what is up with that name, I LOVE Lmao 🤣

i still havent been tunneled or camped ever since the patch. people complaining probably run right into the killer then say they got tunneled when they die

Where did they say that they were running back into the killer?

I re-read his post and it doesn't say what you are saying.

  • The fact that we hopped from one perk (DS) to another perk (OTR) just to counter a playstyle that wasn't touched at all says it all.

All while the theme of these perk changes was "To Shake Up The Meta".... clearly not the Camping and Tunneling meta.

Again, selfish perks give me hatch and not gates, which is useless for getting a better MMR.

And I'm pretty sure I explained to you that SWF is just not an option to me.

So in other words, all the suggestions you gave me wouldnt help me at all if I'm at the bottom of MMR.

Trust me when I tell you... Do not bother with them. You'll be doing yourself a favor.

    INTRO

I'm a 300 hour player (mostly survivor). Since I cannot play solo queue anymore without becoming insane, I decided I would wait for next patch, but meanwhile I've started to play killer on a fresh account, and experimenting what it would look like if I try as hard as I can to be a d*** (mostly by facecamping and tunneling the same player).

Admittedly because it's a fresh account I started with low MMR - I didn't really want to ruin the reputation of my main account just to prove a point - but I don't have a lot of experience with killer so it should not be too far from my "skill" if I were to play normally. However, you will see that skill is not really the point here.

Now let's make it short, I have played 18 games so far, and every single game has had exactly 0 ESCAPE from survivors. In fact, survivors never even managed to complete the last gen, so it was not very close, although they went down to 1 gen several times.

So, that's a 18 win streak - and judging by my last games, there's no sign that it's ending soon. By the way, I'm no small man like Otzdarva, a win for me means ALL SURVIVORS DIE - NOT EVEN HATCH. Of course it's a d*** challenge so I feel like giving hatch would be unappropriate.

Since people will legitimately doubt my claims, I have recorded videos of most of these matches, but I'll make a short summary for each game so you don't have to watch it, and if you're used to solo queue, I'm sure lots of these games will look familiar.

Note: if someone can tell me how to check my kill/escape ratio (which should be at 100%) that would be great, so I can share the proof that there was no other match between them where I could have lost.

    LINK TO VIDEOS

I uploaded everything on Youtube, but for your convenience as said I have a "breakdown" section below where I will sum them up.

Fellow survivor mains, I know it is disgusting, but I HIGHLY encourage you to watch some of these games. Check the BREAKDOWN section.

    STRATEGY / BUILD

Simple gameplay, here are the main ideas:

Step 1: patrol gens and try to find a survivor quickly. This is the most critical step. Be sneaky, don't waste time in loops, switch target if needed.

Step 2: facecamp the survivor until they die (be patient)

Step 3: if other survivors manage to unhook, keep tunneling the same survivor, wait 5-10 sec to bait endurance. When survivors attempt to unhook, avoid hitting them as experienced survivors will try to bait you, ideally, try to grab them while they unhook.

Step 4 (optional): once 1 survivor is dead it's pretty easy to finish the game usually, but if you want to guarantee 4K, camp the 3 gens that are closest to each other, injure survivors so they all make noise, exploit their altruism so you can get them all down, only hook them AFTER they are all down, so they can't get the hatch.

VIDEO EXAMPLE 1 FOR THE "FACECAMP" STEP (from game 2)

VIDEO EXAMPLE 2 FOR THE "TUNNELING" STEP (from game 9)

I also have some particularly obnoxious games that demonstrate the "exploit altruism" step but since this is optional and particularly toxic let's skip that part.

    BREAKDOWN

Here is a summary of each game, with a video link (time stamped directly to the most interesting part).

First game of the show, good to demonstrate the strategy. Started with Trapper as I thought he would be a good facecamper. Found Claudette quickly then stayed right in front of the hook . Nobody went to help her, so she DC'd after about 1 minute (5 gens left) leaving the game 3v1, her teammates were not fast enough with gens and it was relatively easy to finish.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

A slightly better fight from survivors, showing that some are used to facecamping killers. Note that I have now switched to Nurse to increase the chance of DCs (this is my first game with Nurse - hope that it's obvious from the gameplay). I started to facecamp Leon but this time his team managed to distract me away from the hook, regardless I ended up getting a grab on the person who attempted to unhook and win easily.

Result: 4 kills, 5 gens left

Another very altruistic lobby, survivors try very hard to prevent me from tunneling David and even manage to successfully make me lose him, so I hook and camp Feng instead. Survivors try to save her too but this time I manage to down all of them.

Quite a sad game to be honest as I missed almost every blink and yet the whole game still ends in 5 minutes because survivors were too altruistic.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Not a very interesting game. I camp David, survivors make quick attempts at saving him but soon give up. David dies at 4 gens (!!). From there the game is easy to finish (although it takes me 7 more minutes to find the remaining survivors).

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

A very sad game as survivors really try to save their teammate but end up losing everything for it. Very touching survivors and merciless game from me, do not watch if you're faint-hearted. On a side note, I think this game illustrates well how disgusting you can play if you want to deny survivors the hatch: the game is clearly over after 3 min 30 s, yet it still takes me 15 more minutes to finish the last 3 survivors and ensure no one gets the hatch.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

Very poor game from both sides, not much to say about it. Bad SWF, bad gameplay from me (Note: following the previous game, I equipped Whispers to have a easier time finding the remaining 3 survivors - I will later switch to "Spies from the Shadows")

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Another sad game. Hooked Nea right after start, someone DC's 30 seconds later, leaving everybody else hopeless. Survivors acted so cute that I considered letting them win and cancelling the game but eh, he DC'd after the hook so it's not really my fault, and I don't feel like that's what the majority of killers do when playing against me, so no mercy.

Result: 4 kills, 5 gens left

Best survivors I've faced so far, now the MMR finally went a bit up. This is a very telling game, worth watching as a whole (Warning: it is also very triggering, if you're a survivor main)

Here I found Cheryl quickly, but she was clearly a good player, so I gave up the chase and went for her teammates instead. I started to tunnel Kate, but only after a long chase, and by the time I hooked her for the first time there were only 2 gens remaining. From there it should be a loss for me, but as usual solo queuers try too hard to save their teammates and end up losing their advantage. Kate dies while Nancy attempts hoplessly to save her. By the time I hook Nancy still 2 gens remain. Nancy gets saved while I get greedy and damage a nearby gen, gives a fight and has DS which makes me lose time, but still not enough for her teammates to finish the remaining gens.

Result: 4 kills, 1 gen left

A rather easy game. Got Ash quickly, but his team tried hard to save him, bodyblocking, tanking hits etc. I could still tunnel him and get the other survivors shortly after.

Result: 4 kills, 4 gens left

Another sad game. Clearly low MMR survivors, game was already over after 3 minutes when I grabbed the person who tried to unhook.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Now this is the first truly heartbreaking game. Likely a SWF stack as these girls played very altruistic and 2 of them had the exact same skin, one Claudette even tried to disguise as the other so I would hook her instead when they were all down. Everybody tried to save the tunneled survivor but did not manage.

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

Low MMR survivors, caught Claudette in 1 minute, very easy game, except for one thing: I tried to end the match too quickly at the end and almost gave Cheryl a chance to get hatch, this could have ended the streak.

Result: 4 kills, 3 gens left

Regular tunneling game, caught Mikaela, camped her, teammates ended up being grabbed while saving her.

Result: 4 kills, 2 gens left

Absolutely heartbreaking game. Tunneled Claudette but Nea managed to skillfully bait me and unhook her without getting grabbed (which shows just how often solo queue players have to face it). Claudette rage quitted, seeing what happened, survivors gave up and/or tried to act cute.

    Conclusion

I humbly ask you, DbD game developers, to do me a favor and watch some of these games, especially game 14, and tell me if that matches your vision of how the game should be played, because actually, it matches what I've been getting lately as a solo queue survivor.

I trust that you have data that shows that the game is not killer-sided so I will refrain from debating balance, in fact I don't doubt that SWFs and/or the combination of old DS/BT/DH was too strong in some circumstances.

However, what seems clear to me, is that:

    1. The game may be not killer-sided, or survivor-sided, but it is definitely tryhard-sided. I think this echoes what Otzdarva said in a video: "DBD is extremely survivor-sided ?". Basically, your game can be fun under the assumption that people will play nice, but the rules and balance of the game do not prevent you to be extremely toxic. For example, camping a hooked survivor is seen as a d* move by most of the community, and yet managing to land a grab on someone who tries to unhook was multiple times a game-winning move for me.
    2. The game is full of anti-fun mechanics for survivors: very long gens that people don't want to do, one shot mechanics like NOED or grabbing a survivor who attempts to unhook, having to rely on killer's kindness to get hatch, survivor having to wait 4 minutes on ground if killer doesn't want to pick them up (hatch again), etc. Killers do not have to face such mechanics, and most importantly, do not rely on 3 random teammates to play the game.
    3. MMR doesn't work. I've played many PvP games, it seems unconceivable to me to get a 18 win streak against human players. Just think of it. 18 games x 4 kills each = 72 survivors dead. That's a LOT of people time wasted so that just one guy can have fun (me).

So, I don't know if I will continue playing and see if I can achieve longer streak, but ultimately, what has made me stop playing for now, is not toxic survivors, Dead Hard, DS, it is not gen rushing nor SWFs, ultimately the thing that makes me stop playing is just how heartbreaking some of the games must have been for survivors. If you've been in one of these games I hope you understand and wish you a nice day.

I think this is both sad and fascinating.

I think this is a noble effort, and honestly I think if the devs don't know by now (it's where the sad part comes in) this is what they created. While I don't want to point fingers, I do not blame killers who do this because they are playing with what they are given. DBD developers chose not to adjust this playstyle the more the game was changing and evolving.

You are a 300 hr player, while some of us sitting at over 7,000 hours still struggle to understand how this is even still in the game. So I cannot even begin to imagine what new players are experiencing let alone the ones that start solo. Your post just gave us a look into what happens.

I love that you mention the part about unfun mechanics. I think that hits at the core of this game, because when you think about that being in the game PLUS the way other RNG aspects/elements screw you also....it is no longer a fun game. Winning isn't and shouldn't be everything. Many of us have said we would gladly die more if it meant we had a fun match. Staring at a killer through 2 struggle phases however, is not fun.

I don't know exactly why they refuse to change the way hooks work, but I really hope this perks their ears up. Because they are going to lose those of us that are already hanging by the last sliver of hope.

Props to you OP for putting this together.

So if it was already a problem before how it's it a new problem now? The patch didn't cause killers to camp and tunnel because there was plenty of post pre-patch talking about it.

The devs do need to do adjustments but they aren't just going to wait a week and start changing thing left and right. It's going to take some time.

It is a new problem in that the one thing that you could half-way do was to stick to gens when someone was being camped. Because you knew you had time to finish them all. With the new patch, the gens times have an additional 50 seconds total. That is just at base, not counting for the perks like Thana which did not need to be changed. It's already an issue in SWF so I imagine it's an even worse issue in SoloQ.

The devs do need to do adjustments but they aren't just going to wait a week and start changing thing left and right. It's going to take some time.

How will the devs make adjustments if you don't hear from people providing the feedback? I get that maybe some people aren't the best with words and maybe just got camped and tunneled back to back so they aren't going to be in the right mindset to post something, however that doesn't mean that they should try to adjust to something that was already a problem to begin with. This isn't a new issue, just a worse one.

  • BUT GPP! Didn't you know you have to let the patch settle.... and mayyybe...adjust? before you jump to conclusions!

    fm.gif

  • Sure, let me go into my 'zen position' and let me adjust to the Camping and Tunneling strategies that were only magnified as a result of the patch, and you know the very thing killers were already capable of doing BEFORE the patch.

  • I wasn't having a hard time as killer before this patch, but I also didn't need my hand held. I think if anything they showed us who needed their hand held.

You're taking a bit of time of gens, which will allow two people to be working on gens shortly rather than 1. I've been watching quite a lot of high level survivor play recently, trying to improve - and bodyblocking is absolutely essential.

And, yes, there is a lot of RNG in this game. Too many matches are lost at the selection screen. But that cuts both ways - if I play Scratched Mirror Myers and get sent to Eyrie against a halfway decent team, I'm dead.

Remember, the goal of this patch was to raise kill rates. People will be escaping less. That's intentional.

It is, but if you are going against a smart killer you will only be handicapping the team, because even if you were to give up your two hits and get downed. The killer will just use that as time wasted by not being on a gen and leave you on the ground.

On RNG, I know it cuts both ways. I am not trying to examine each RNG case, I am focusing on this one instance specifically where someone gets tunneled out of the game and there is not much the team can do. It is why people often use the phrase "Do the gens to give that teammate a chance to maybe getting out" Because at best the teammate will mostly just buy time, but if people are too busy trying to take hits, they are not only throwing for the teammate who might have had a chance, but now for somebody else and that killer gets another kill.

I don't think the goal of the patch was to "raise kill rates", maybe the goal of some of the changes was for that, but not all of it. Also, just because people escape less and the patch is mostly catering to killers doesn't mean that it is the change that was needed. I've always advocated for individual killer buffs/changes and changing map designs... because those have been two contributors of why many killer players complain. This just seemed lazy overall, regardless of it's goal.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3098267#Comment_3098267

    Okay, here's the thing.

    • Nurse has been a problem for a while now. She needs some tweaks, but honestly - a complete rework is the only way. She's a monster at higher MMRs, but struggles elsewhere.
    • You're taking an important factor out of the equation here. You have a team, if you play survivor. If you're getting tunneled, they need to help distribute damage more easily. Bodyblocking, sabos, saves etc. The survivor role isn't just about individual performance, it's about team coordination. Yes, that's not always going to work in solo, but you can't balance the entire game around solo play.

I don’t know. I would argue that it is a waste of time trying to take a hit for a teammate being tunneled because then who is working on gens? Distributing aggro sounds easier said than done. It has a lot of factors attached to it predominantly based around RNG. Who is the killer? What map is it and what type of tiles are there?

In this new meta resources will be limited considering the killer has more time to waste time to break a pallet.

I don’t think it’s good practice to take a hit without the guarantee that the attention will be switched. Especially if you cannot control the RNG and/or the teammate’s actions.

What was the worst fail? The mettle of man or boil over nerfs? You'll get used to not having dead hard, just give it time.

Damn didn’t know DH had everything to do with the reason people are leaving.. not at all the fact that Camping/Tunneling are running more rampant than ever because all of those baby killers who needed their hand held can now relax and not have to understand mechanics in the game or how to run tiles.

They can now stack passive crutches *clears throat* effects… to slow gens down and slow the game down without much contribution coming from a word called skill.

Yep DH is responsible for all of it. 🙄

I'll explain you hockey meme: kills = skill.

Camping for ez kills therefore means skill... right? Illustration of very "skilled" play.

Basic communication would prevent 2 people running to basement at the same time and both getting exposed. Just a basic status effect "I'm going for unhook", "I'm doing gen", "killer is camping" would prevent a lot of situations like this.

You can't expect them (devs) to understand skill when they themselves have set their own standard to "kills and escapes = skill" because nothing that happens in between matters to them.

You can say its strategy because they deem it that way, doesn't mean that the players don't know what actual skill means. It surely doesn't mean cheese a playstyle so you can "win".

  • No changes to Camping and Tunneling, mmk.

    Untitled Image

  • You can leave and no one has to hold your hand, if you know what I mean. :)

There are several games out now and some upcoming, pick one and be happier.

  • Yeah devs don't be fooled by killers going to the corners of the map just to de-pip, they just throwing matches then claiming the game is unbalanced. 🙄

    See? Anyone can do this.

    Nurse yes.

Blight needs some Add Ons nerfed. But his Basekit is fine. Blight is at least playing DBD, while Nurse basically plays a totally different game.

I agree, Nurse plays like a character in a game where survivors can fight back.

  • Absolutely.

My general feel right now is that they seem disconnected from the survivor community.

Their whole “We’re gonna shake up the meta” and “Killer should feel like a threat” do not go hand-in-hand with “Lets make sure everyone has fun in our game”. Not only that but it failed to deliver on that front anyway because in the issue of Camping and Tunneling OTR just took the place of DS. It didn’t ADD anything fun or amazing. It kept the same meta which is survivors bring perks to soft counter Camping and Tunneling.

They seem to find what is most “annoying” on either side and either band aid fix it or slap a perk to it.

Sometimes people don’t just use strong perks because they are strong but also because they are fun. They took the fun out of DH and made unnecessary nerfs to perks like DS that have already been nerfed enough.

  • I’ve always thought Spirit was popular.

  • He does.

This update made him even more of a cheese killer. It literally guarantees him more kills than before.

I never used meta perks, I hate BT, DH, DS.

So yes I love the update because they made average perks better !

I think the ones who dont like the update are the ones Who cant play without DH, which is very sad.

Now we will see only true skill players escaped, which is gooooooood!

That’s just not true. I used DH before but I also would switch up to other perks and still did quite well without DH. The perk was also fun and for me DH was a double edge sword because while it shines in certain scenarios it wasn’t good in many others.

You are stuck in this “You are just mad because you are bad without X/Y/Z” That would be like saying every killer that camps regardless of the circumstances is bad.

Sometimes it is a straight result of a survivor being reckless.

The problem with your post and many posts I’ve seen like this one, is that they disregard any type of legitimate concern while pigeonholing everyone who used one perk simply because you feel a certain type of way about said perk.

  • Couldn’t disagree more.

There we’re some good changes but mostly awful changes for survivors. With many of the issues that run rampant not addressed.

Glad you’re enjoying the update tho!

The game shouldn’t have been designed around someone’s “mood” to determine if a match is going to be fair or not.

I’ve used this metaphor before. Imagine telling a kid they can have one of the two bags of candy sitting on the table, and one if full the other has like 3 pieces of candy. Which one do you think they will go for?

It’s the same deal here. Killers are playing to win and if that means Camping and Tunneling, then that is what they will do. Doesn’t mean that it isn’t bad design or that it can ruin someone’s ability to participate because to they hang on a hook for several minutes.

This isnt an Us vs Them comment, chill.

He's talking about the dbd community in general. We get it, you get off to Us vs Them arguments.

Pointing out hypocrisy isn’t Us vs Them.

I never saw that exact post on the Gloom and Doom Killer Bots are gonna take over DBD” daily posts.

I get off on a lot of things but hypocrisy isn’t one of them. 😘

The irony that killers also said this in previous patches. 😉

  • This is how disconnected you are from what is actually being presented as feedback.

You start out your thread with what is not being complained about. It’s not the 10 seconds, it’s that stacking of the SAME effect on different perks. Not only does this promote boring gameplay but it is also affecting what is already a problem: Camping and Tunneling.

You may see that as “crying” so are we to also say that you were crying when old DH was still here and you heard about it on the daily too? Stop with the non sense threads and at least understand what the things that are being complained about are actually about.

  • Umm are you a bot?

How do you have a reply ready for me when I have posted it 2 seconds before. LOL

Also, I am not complaining about anything. I am letting you know that your theory that OTR is going to stop a killer from tunneling is wrong.

  • @PaintedDeath said:

When you get off the hook with OTR, it gives you 0 grunts, that what you are here for. The inability to be caught by BBQ, Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage, and all the other aura detecting abilties is just a bonus. To GTFO of there, and be able to hide nearby and not be detected is priority #1 to OTR. The Endurance buff only comes into play if you didn't do a good enough job hiding from the killer and now you are in a chase, now guess what, you might as well be a healthy survivor as far as this chase is concerned, so play like one. You now have essentially an additional health state during this chase, abuse it.

Doesn't matter because if I am proxy camping OR Face-camping as killer I know exactly where you are. In fact I am going to make sure I hit you right as your feet hit the floor. Making sure that your distance won't mean much should you decide to go to a pallet.

Yeah, I think you underestimate how much vision a killer who wants to tunnel gives themselves. This isn't like PH's cages where even though the killer gets a notification, they still need to travel and at least give you some breathing room to hide as you say.

  • @PaintedDeath said:

OTR is NOT an endurance perk. It is a perk that gives you a second chance once unhooked, you are NOT supposed to run into the killer and use your endurance, you are supposed to use your endurance to basically tank another hit, ALA a health survivor in case the killer decides to tunnel you. OTR is NOT to tank a hit.

Again, I am trying to understand how you come up with the conclusion that should the killer decide they want to tunnel you, they are just gonna leave you on the ground if you go down again. That doesn't make any sense considering that the only reason they left you alone after a successful DS stun was because you had time to get away.

In an era where gens take too long, there is no more "Your team can slam gens out". So that goes out the window.

  • Um, if they hit you while you have OTR why on earth would they just leave you on the floor next time you go down?

They've already put you in mending status, bringing UB isn't going to make them slug you. In fact they will pick you up because even if you have DS, the stun time no longer is enough to at least gain some distance from them.

  • Yikes... You know he is pretty bored when he doesn't even know what to do with himself besides pacing back and forth. 🤣

  • This has also been my main issue with the changes. Some of them (especially perk changes) were a flat number nerf or just destroy the perk.

Iron Will a perk that didn't even affect that many killers when you consider that you can still hear a survivor's footsteps, see a crow fly away when the survivor comes into contact... etc was changed to pure trash now.

Spine Chill a perk that only made it a big issue on Stealth killers where they could have just made Stealth work differently so it didn't affect THOSE killers.

I never thought there would be a day that I would consider giving up playing DbD.

    Right there with you.

  • I'm glad you are happy now that the devs are holding your hand!
