If those things are required skills for winning the game, then being good with them means that you'll more consistently win the game. That's kind of the entire point of doing them in the first place, completely disregarding matchmaking systems entirely.

Being able to do those things is one half of being skilled at this game. The other half is knowing when to do them, by reading the match in progress. Your goal is to win, not to build up an arbitrary number of points and then lose.

Well you literally said the reason why Emblems are better than Escape based matchmaking.

If you just do gen and killer catches you you might lack altruism and risk dying,

if you do too much gens, you still lack altruism, also being chased by killer,

if you're too altruistic killer gets hooks faster, you're not doing gens.

Emblem matchmaking would have been way better they just had to refine it, and maybe put emphasis on escaping.

The ranks could have been the way, "you escaped good job",

    or "you died, bad job"

or "you died but you did lot of gens, healed lot of health states and chased killer for eternity, therefore less of a bad job"

How so? Bearing in mind that we're looking at consistency, not how someone played in one specific match.

Literally doing gens, chasing killer for eternity, unhooking bunch of people safely,

    healing them, self healing sometimes.

In MMR you still need to leave, you still need to survive, you still need your teammates to do either the rest of the gens or have them chase the killer for long enough time for you to repair all 5 gens, than open exit gate, than leave.

In Emblem based matchmaking, you're already decent, you're already pretty good, you did your job,

so either, you would get a slight increase in rank,

or you wouldn't get a big decrease in rank considering your performance.

I can see that it doesn't matter what i say, you will flip to fill some weird narrative.

Once you reach a low enough mmr it does happen almost every match. A killer can only get so bad since the base mechanics are so simple, while survivors can easily be worse. It may just be my experience, but i have seen others post the same thing on here.

If you really want to test your theory then tank your rank and try to get out of mmr hell without SWF.

Fun with everyone being bad, but the killer is Bubba for example so they drop like flies.

    Would it?

    Yes it absolutely would?

No they don't, because if you genrush the killer you get 0 pips, but people still genrush the killer

Unless you get some insanely long wipe animation i dont see how it would be beneficial for anybody to use a perk that makes killer miss attack once.

Dead Hard is "make killer miss attack" but with extra steps and a dash..

To be fair, arguably the biggest problem of solo queue is matchmaking. Obviously as solo survivor you don't have as much information compared to playing with an swf, but the inconsistent matchmaking is the biggest source of frustration I feel.

And that's something that can't be solved with balance changes, and the matchmaking sadly isn't that great.

Oh wow, a killer that gets looped by everyone for endless amount of time,

I mean most issues would be solved in DBD would hurry up and implement the steam integration where blocked players are not put back into games with killers (or survivors) simply to target them and farm others. Yes, this just happened to me. Same killer. Reported previously for racial slurs and targeting Claudettes specifically, blocked, reported and DBD wants me to continue to play games with them - hate the perks I use, hates the character I play, hates how I play the game, etc. etc. etc. I mean - just let me block them and avoid forcing me to be verbally abused because you can make more money. But what they do instead is give more perks, more cosmetics, and a week of weird freebies, because yea, no one will find anything to complain about. But surprise, 50 more posts on while survivors have it easy and killers just want to have friends. :-/

    Yes, block all the players,

and than, have fun waiting 50 minutes for a game.

  • If he respects the pallet, that means he backs of and stays behind the pallet, which means he is moving at 0 M/S towards you, which most often gains you enough distance to run around the pallet loop another time.

    Bloodlust.

I don't like that he has to hit survivors trice to down them the first time, while his power is still charging up.

Doesn't give much of the unstoppable killing machine he's supposed to represent.

Especially on higher mmr, where survivors know when to use DH. It easily turns into 4 hits for the first down.

What's even worse for me, is that almost all of his addons revolve around improving his zombies. Which tbh, are only useful in 1 out of 10 matches.

Really? In my games he certainly feels unstoppable, as he gains T3 very quickly despite it's high cost

5% of progress to pick up a dying person removes anti tunnel perk?

    @C3Tooth said:

Few problems I see from DS

    1. Dwight & Meg injured, both have DS. Dwight heal Meg will disable his DS, Meg now become healthy but she also still have DS.
    2. Killer can simply tank 5sec DS stun all the time. If survivor doesnt have -> good, continue to tunnel. If survivor has DS -> good, no more DS and continue to tunnel
    3. Survivors can always save their DS against Fair play killer since they dont tunnel. Resulting eat multiple DS in EGC. This is the reason why Killer should tunnel through DS.
    1. Slug Dwight chase Meg, they have to pick up Dwight or let him die, if they come heal Dwight they are not doing gens
    2. tank the 5 second stun, and than get looped, pre dropped, infinitied, body blocked
    3. Killers can slug and wait out the DS, killers can slug and wait out the time

    @sizzlingmario4 said:

You picking up your teammate is actively removing pressure from the killer, so yes you lose your DS. You don't get a free escape after doing that.

Killer facecamps, waits for unhook, hits/chainsaws the tunneled person,

tunneled person uses DS, if the killer turns on them they try to waste as most time before they go down,

if the killer goes for a hook on the downed, you can heal and do gen.

However, i think that is a misconception by killers.

When i play killer, and i lose 3 gens while just having that one hook, i do feel the same. But there are plenty of games where i started snowballing then and got a 4k out of it still, without camping and tunneling.

To me, it all depends on personal skill. Camping and tunneling is something you do if you are outskilled by the survivors (at least thats what i do sometimes). If i feel that i have a fair game (or even have the advantage, that happens too) i can play the game how i think it is intended to be played.

I think the problem is that killers are often matched against survivors at a higher skill level (both due to a lack of killers, as well as having inflated their kills and ratings by camping and tunneling).

But some killers go for the easy route anyway, even if at the same skill level.

But they rework perks and look into the reason the perks are used, so who knows whats up in the future.

It is a viscious cycle, killers can break half the time but "give up",

you see, even games where the first 4 gens are instantly done, can be won,

without NOED even, simply by using everything the killer has...

It's happeneds to me with all killers iv been playing different killers a lot lately because I thought there was no winning with huntress but it's just the same with all

Well, if them doing gens is that big of a problem, you can run a build that tackles the problem,

a very effective and annoying build is Scourge Hook + Dead Man's switch,

sure, they can let go of gen, than continue, but than you walk to the gen and it's hard to hold M1 when the killer is about to be in lunge distance,

or better yet, Huntress can already throw hatchet at you.

Not really, it makes it harder but it's possible, if you know how to play Nemesis that is

    So,

If a Nemesis is right up to window to the point he cannot walk further,

you're on the other side up to the window so close he can M1, and you crough,

I was just going to say in a new post how much I'm growing to hate SoloQ. My escape rate has tanked and a good indicator that my MMR has dropped so low is that everyone is using yellow and green perks.

This downward spiral of MMR has gotten me some very boring games.

I had a little taste of SWF the other night and I can see why SWFing is better. I reliably get more than 15K BP a match, more escaping. More enjoyable matches (we don't bully).

I would enjoy SoloQ more if the BPs gained were better.

Oh yellow perks? Yes I see killers with 2 yellow perks

    survivors with 1 yellow perk

rarely but I do see them

  • What do you mean, I learned barely anything, I guess I'm safe when I vault the window and he is far away and I crough,

He can drag the hitbox which makes people that say you can dodge his M2 even more invalidated.

It's hard to get Emblem when you have to do EVERYTHING to pip in iredescent,

you have to do lot of gens, you have to do lot of healing and unhooking,

you have to do lot of chasing AND you have to survive.

    But:

You were talking about that guy with that funny little motorized thingie and that cute yellow apron and that so lovingly smiles at you after hooking you in the basement and letting their terror radius disappear with Insidious. Seriously though, there is only 1 killer in the game that can hit you and break a pallet with the same attack and it's Bubba. Nemesis can only hit 1 target. If it's the pallet you're safe. If it's you that pallet still stands.

Yeah mb, but my point still stands that dropping pallets can't be safe always vs Nemesis

Take this, you know survivor is around hook, you see no lifeform with your BBQ,

you check everywhere but you cannot find a soul,

why? Because the survivor on hook has kindred, or I have kindred, and I can see you coming to my left from the wall you can't see behind,

I go right, I silently loop you and you clear the area, you can double back, you can try all the tricks, I have live 4K CCTV aura that snitches you trying anything funny, I completely dodge you,

you leave the hook thinking survivors hid in locker or have Distortion,

The one thing i would wish for solo queue, would be a rating system, where you could rate your teammates and get a higher/lower chance to get matched with them again.

such system would get abused, as bad players would just cross out other bad players hoping to get good players that cross them out basicaly making the system nonexistant,

100 percent the reason people are leaving the game in hoards.....its at minimum 4/10 killers are basically killing off one person because its an easy W especially in solo qs. but we all know the only thing the devs are worried about is adding garbage killers into the game for that added revenue.....state of the game cant be any worse than it currently is

The small % camps at 5, the others get destroyed and take the camp for kill perhaps Emblem,

another strategise camping with NOED and stuff,

get rewarded for the playstyle aswell....

The nerf is going to be adding additional time to the exhaustion timer because the devs don't play high MMR killer, they only main survivor

    no they don't,

because if they did that would get instant backlash, harder backlash than 4 survivors going up stairs with Bubba revving his chainsaw at the top going down

The devs don't even play their own game, how are they supposed to main a side?

They play it casually probably, because why wouldn't you play the game you develop?

I'm just gonna assume you have no idea how that hole fake pallet thing would work and actually benefit you so I'll try to give you some advice. When the Nemesis puts up his tentacle he gets slowed for a minimum of 0.35 seconds, but because he will probably not release it instantly it's more like a bit over 1 second in most cases. That is 1 second of you getting a bit of distance and also the killer purposefully falling behind so they don't get stunned. Now you're out of danger again. If the Nemesis decides to still go for the M2 get right behind the pallet and you're good (mostly) because the pallet's hitboxes blocks your own. This mostly works well on sharp corners like in jungle gyms and those awful rock loops. For him to get to tier 3 he needs to get a minimum of 5 hits on people that are not contaminated (without Marvin's Blood). So if your SoloQ team mates actually manage to give him that in the early game you would probably lose against any other killer as well. Your best bet is delaying him for as long as possible or be a god tier looper. And when you get chased and downed in under 30 seconds while not being contaminated that is most likely your own fault because once again press Shift + W and use the speed boost after a hit. It takes a lot of time to catch up again and then you might still get another boost not to mention you could get to a good structure.

One of the Nemesis biggest strengths is not to hit with the tentacle but to pressure survivors without, zoning them out until they can't escape. Avoid that by all means. Sometimes it's better to take an early hit than to get zoned to a part of the map where the speed boost can't help you reach a strong loop and immediately go down there.

Sometimes after running straight through and than pulling up a tentacle, they do it again, and than when you wait right behind corner, they walk up, you walk up to pallet, drop it, they don't get stunned and hit you,

    cool killer,

also the talk on other killers, other killers won't hit you through pallets while simultaneously destroying them,

other killers destroy the survivors differently, other killers get looped by me from 10 extra seconds to whole 3 gens before I get downed..

Nemesis' Tentacle Strike prioritizes Pallets if you just crouch under them.

Shred doesn't have to hit over small walls as Nemesis realistically shouldn't hit you either, unless you're feeding him by not dodging his Tentacle Strike.

Shred can break Pallets at the start of The Trial.

Shred is longer than a lunge.

Shred doesn't grant Survivors an extra Health State.

Shred can grant you extra mobility when used from a Hill

Nemesis M2 is longer than a lunge, Nemesis can both break and injure, you can't hide if the player is good

Eh, I love Nemesis BECAUSE he does as the OP described. Obviously he has counterplay and good survivors know it well. But I would rather play Nemesis than any of the killers survivors religiously whine about. I can't believe they struggle with Artist, for instance. Embarassing as hell, but not as oppressively cringe as the Legion haters that came out of the woodwork.

tho good Artist player can be faster at catching you in loops than clown that stops you with just one bottle to go another lap

Problably gonna get crucified for saying this. But, i think solo queue is mostly fine. Sure, some matches are doomed from the start, because someone sabotages the match by suiciding/disconnecting. But apart from that it generally feels balanced. At least on my mmr (wherever that is).

The emblems can sometimes be weird. Like, when you do gens in coop, it only counts half the progress towards the Lightbringer emblem. Or today i got a gold surival emblem, when i was never hooked and just took a protection hit at the exit (without getting downed).

Well that depends on what rank are you, I've played couple more games and got few exits too and the games seem to be getting better and better,

but it just could be me being lucky on noob killers, I've 360d almost half the killers I faced today

Well if kindred (the survivor aura reading part) was always basekit, I don't think killers would complain about it, but the fact that it's a perk, they'd see that as unfair, but it really should've been basekit from the beginning, it helps out solo, but doesn't help out swf since they're already on comms, it'd just balance out nicely, and it'd only really help out the really weak teams so it wouldn't make too much of an overall difference to killer gameplay and just make it less painful for solo survivors.

    auras remove skill of intuition,

if you see 2 people sitting on gen and one running to the hook where the hooked person is,

you can lay back, get a drink and keep holding that M1,

this is why it's my favourite soloq perk, because when I get hooked I don't get bombed by 3 survivors while 0 gens are being done,

while also removing the fear with killer reading of going to the hook, if they see the killer leave, and more so, they see the direction they are leaving,

there's certainly something soloq should have to help with soloq, but I don't think Kindred basekit is the right thing.

Maybe show survivor perks when loading or something, so that people can see, "oh Bill and Jill have adrenaline"

Oh I know that, i mean in certain cases, but its mainly the survivor hitboxes i totally mispoke and will fix that :) the angle survivors run and their hitboxes make it look way worse, but the vertical hitboxes are pretty bad for survivors, but it seems to be random too'

    random vertical?

no no, that's based on how much the hatchet curves over environment,

you know the more you charge hatchet the less it curves and travels further

  • @MommyHunktress said:

I want to know all off your negative opinions bout certain killers or perks. even if youre bad at the game or good at the game, because i want to see the differing of opinions. No insulting or arguing please, just open discussion.

I will start first, I hate victor and think his hitboxes are too big, huntress hitboxes are too big as well. Although im a huntress main and I know latency is always going to be an issue, but they can be just a fraction smaller, i can get some really nasty hits with my hatchets, but one thing i hate bout victor is you cant dodge to the side, if youre in front then youre more than likely dead unless he sucks and lets be real abusing 1 pallet works, but how many times has a victor just came out at an angle and used hitboxes to down you :|

Another thing i hate is meta perks, now when i say meta im not taking into account things like noed which are pretty common at lower rank, i mean THE perks, yall know them. DH DS UB, ive seen an influx in people with these perks in low ranks, now i aint terrible and have played for a while so I know what to do against them for the most part.(even though that doesnt change how oppressive they are) But since i went to bootcamp and then onto MCT for the marine corps, i had ZERO time to play and just got back into it and i had to start against pure babies, it doesnt help that i switched to mouse and keyboard which is 3x times easier for huntress, but what i seen is people run these perks and arent good.

SO what am i saying? simple its a problem for the low rank killers especially ones who are basic chase, low rank killers will be destroyed by dead hard and make a very unforgiving environment, and when people mix the meta perks then its even worse, at the high ranks its just as annoying but its not guaranteed to cause a loss, until you get out of a range killer mindset and realize these perks shine when killers lack control. take an oni, he is an m1 killer until he gets his ability which can negate loops to a certain degree, but lets be real a jungle gym is always safe, if you just wait at corners you waste the killers time and if you have teammates who do gens you will win eventually. but add dh to that and then you extend that loop or hell make it to another loop that you can use for a long time, but due to map layout that loop you BARELY made it to because DH you have a filler right by it which you can chain and then go to a DIFFERENT jungle gym.

Now everyone knows these issue but why i dont like it especially is simply put it rewards going down and being injured. DS is a perk that is there for a reason, but ive seen so many people wreck me and others without dead hard, dead hard is just an extra slap in the face, and dead hard for distance is literally one of the strongest survivior actions. Unbreakable isnt as important unless you are STRUGGLING. So many people complain about UB when they can down the surviviors fast as crap.

This is only some of my negative opinions on this games killer and survivor meta, although id love to tell everyone all my negative thoughts and positive ones... that would take too long and we all know in this forum some people are going to start an argument instead of being respectful and just sticking to the purpose.

let me know youre guys thoughts on whatever you hate or love about perks, killers or even mechanics!

Agree with Victor mele range disagree with Hatchet hitbox, it's a ping that makes it look big, the hatchet fits through very small gaps, they can't make it smaller

that would turn into Trickster knifes that injure instantly

  • @SimplyPixelated06 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2983083#Comment_2983083

Lol well not so much for that part, that probably shouldn't be base kit. I just mean the part where survivors can see each other so they know if they should go unhook or not, to avoid getting left on hook too long because survivors thought someone else would go for it, cause that's happened to much to me lol, that would also then be helpful for not having multiple survivors wasting time by all going to the hook when someone already there and could have spent time on something else.

or the soloq survivors could just l2p so nobody would want perks introduced as basekit

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Nemesis is just a worse Demogorgon

Demo stops at pallet, Demo's M2 sometimes prioritises destroyable walls and pallets instead of players next to it,

Demo can't hit you over small wall, etc.

but the thing is, you can't always use pallets on nemesis, can you?

Sometimes pre-dropping a pallet is the best way to counter him, so I don't see a problem with SOMETIMES dropping a pallet to kill a zombie and using it later on a loop against nemesis, especially if you're about to get a gen done and can't afford to waste time. And the notification has a limit, the killer can't hear the pallet if he's far away.

And let's be fair here, there are 7 gens the killer has to protect, all while chasing someone with lots of resources.

A zombie taking you out of a gen ain't that much of a big deal

You remove loop, if someone approaches the loop with the dropped pallet, Nemesis instantly destroys the pallet and you have to move on

if you ignore the loop with a dropped pallet, so will Nemesis, making it nonexistant

    @Xernoton said:

I have fun playing as and against Nemesis. Really the best way to learn how to counter a killer is to play that killer. At the start of a match Nemesis is at his weakest. His M2 does not break pallets, you don't get injured by it but infected while still receiving the speed boost, he gets slowed down to 3.8 m/s, has a massive cooldown and his range is abysmally short. Also the hitbox of his M2 is very small so it's not that hard to dodge. As long as he is in Tier 1 he is basically no real threat and you'll want keep that up as long as possible. That changes when he reaches Tier 2. Now you need to play a lot safer. Don't pre drop pallets anymore. It won't slow him down much. Instead try to maintain distance and as already said try to fake pallets. If the Nemesis wraps up his tentacle stun him when you can or try spin around him. At Tier 3 though? Well buddy, you're screwed. It's his strongest form and very hard too loop. He now has increased range, shorter cooldowns and higher movement speed while holding M2. If it's the end of the game and all gens are done pre drop EVERYTHING. It will slow him a bit and delay the hit, that will come eventually.

Also keep in mind that Nemesis has no map mobility. That also means, that after hitting you he has some trouble catching up to you again. Especially when you're not contaminated you can get that speed boost twice, meaning double distance and a way longer chase.

1 ofc his early is weak

2 soloq survivors will insta give him T3

3 "just fake pallets and stun if he puts up tentacle" he respects pallets while holding power

4 pre-dropping pallets get instantly destroyed, you barely waste any of his time

5 "at least he doesn't have mobility right?" that's why he is the only ranged killer with 4.6m/s?

  • @SimplyPixelated06 said:

Yeah solo queue is sucky. Would love for basekit kindred and having those icons showing what the survivor is currently doing like they once mentioned, it would make solo queue at least a little less painful, wouldn't help when having some goofy as survivors tho but what can you do.

oh yeah, basekit wallhacks to manouver around killer at hook with high wall enviorument, I'm sure the killer mains would love that

there are many ways to counter the zombies lol

you are a team of 4, there are like 2 useful zombies in game, you can blind them, you can kill them, you can out run them

one of you can distract them while the other do gen

I don't really get the hate. lol

perhaps they played too many inside building maps with corridors against Nemi

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    1. You can dodge his whip, it is not that hard.
    2. Huntress and Slinger can do same thing tho? You still can dodge those hits.
    3. If you crounch on good side, you will force him to break pallet instead hit you.
    4. You can fake him too. For example act like dropping pallet or jumping windows and make him to use whip. He has long cooldown, you will have enough time to make distance.
    5. You can crounch or try dodge hits behind windows.
    6. Do not camp pallets then? You don't have to pallet camp and actually camping pallets is bad strategy.
    7. He can not hit you directly after cancel whip, you will have time to jump windows or drop pallet. If you are on dead zone, it does not matter he hits you with whip or m1 anyway.
    8. You can drop pallets, you need to learn right timing to drop.
    9. You can stun him, i have not problem to stun Nemesis. He is easier than Huntress and Trickster.

1 You can dodge Huntress and Slinger, you can't dodge Nemesis.

2 Being able to dodge other ranged killers has 0 argument against Nemesis being stupid.

3 Break a pallet without hitting me? Good joke

4 Faking to drop pallet gets you hit

5 I was implying while vaulting windows

6 Cool he will jsut walk right through

7 Oh cool, the pallets spawn 1 meters from one another

8 You can't drop pallets only predrop or you're gonna get hit

    9 Sure, if it's a bad Nemesis

    @Tsulan said:

You should definetly try playing as him! Most of what you said, would be invalidated, if you simply took a couple of matches and played as him.

U got some extra change on you homie?

Should I buy Oni to prove that he is strong?

    @VoidOfMe said:

I love playing with him and against him

I know people hate the zombie thing about him, but I actually love the idea

I'd just add one more zombie to the map

I hate it when I'm doing gen, or healing a mate and then a zombie comes after us and we have to leave lol

I hate it but that's why it's fun, it adds something else in the game that I wish it would be made more dificult

I hope they can make another killer with A.I monsters

A Silent Hill killer with A.I would be awesome like these:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SWQXTR3OAPOL/twin-victim.jpg

that would point the killer where he last saw a survivor and maybe run the survivor for a hit if the survivor stand on an objective for some time.

Or the one's that come out of the wall in SH4

Imagine doing a gen a ghost comes out of the wall like these

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/UGLVJHZKK71Y/flh9gcv.jpg

Anyway, sorry to rumble a bit

The zombie mechanic doesn't bother me, they can get completely countered with flashlights lol, but can be annoying I don't play with items usually..

    @Remedicist said:

I have fun playing against Nemesis. I feel like he is easier to loop and mind game than other m2 ranged attack killers. Like other ranged killers, you have to keep in mind that he can punish certain vault plays so timing is important. I think in general I like playing against ranged killers because of the different ways you have to loop them. It gives some variety to games.

You can hear Huntress putting her hatchet back, she is 110ms.

You only hear Nemesis raise his secondary but not putting it back or it's very quiet.
