  • Still hope they give Oni's legendary a different weapon for his power.

  • Same. I've gotten salty messages on PSN even when I played a fair game and got 12 hooks, just because survivors felt camped, tunneled, cheated, etc. I hope they address this.

  • I WILL BUY ALL OF THEM. MY WIFE IS GOING TO BE PISSED.

  • It was a terrible attempt to try to nerf their slugging capability. It doesn't hinder them in any way, it just makes them feel clunky to play because you're just forced to sit there as Victor for 5 seconds.

  • I would have preferred a range change to Iri Head like the community suggested, but at least they did something about it to make it less oppressive.

I haven't used it myself yet, but Soldier's Puttee seems like a good and underrated add-on to me. The survivors won't notice it unless they are very experienced and it can allow you to finish a chase instead of being forced to abandon it and reload.

  • Man, screw anyway who tries to put down your opinion because they don't think your hopes or guesses are "iconic" enough. While I agree we are most likely to see older, more classic characters, speculation is all about fun and people should not take it so seriously. I am personally hoping for Nemesis, but I will be pleasantly surprised if we see Jack Baker as a killer. I'm excited to see when all is revealed tomorrow!

  • Blight won't be truly strong until they fix the sliding problem he still has on so many maps. It currently makes him too inconsistent and annoying to play. His recent changes are still very welcome though, and he feels playable now.

  • Survivors: Leon and Claire

    • Reason: The Resident Evil 2 remake is still fairly recent. While Chris and Jill came first, making Leon and Claire the primary survivors would be most familiar to players new to DBD, but that have played the RE2 remake. I absolutely believe other characters will be added as legendaries though.

    Killer: Nemesis

    • Reason: He's just the most iconic Bioweapon of the series. The RE3 remake is even more recent and shows that his status as an icon to the series has not aged a bit.
    • Between his relentless nature, use of advanced weapons, and the ability to impale people with his tentacles it just gives him the most potential for an awesome power.
    • Since the RE3 remake is still so new, his new model would be fairly simple to integrate into the game.

    Map: Spencer Mansion

    • Reason: I am fairly confident in my assumptions for the killer and survivor, and I believe they would want to add content from the original RE as well to have representation for the first three games, just like they did with Silent Hill.
    • The Spencer Mansion gives them the most creative freedom to design around since it so byzantine and has many secret pathways that could be integrated into DBD.
    • Excluding GhostFace, the 3 most recent licensed killer chapters have all gotten indoor maps
    • TONS of room for easter eggs

Can't wait to see if I'm right or wrong! Either way, I'm excited!

  • You're dead anyway. Grab a snack or some water or something. By the time you come back, you'll be on the end game screen. Boom, problem solved.

But yes, I would love if they added new moris for some variety.

  • It's not supposed to, but it may or may not still be bugged. Hopefully a mod might be able to clarify.

  • I would argue he is the worst on console. Killers with aim-focused powers are already difficult enough for them, and now you want them to hit 8 knives for a health state? It's just too impractical, even with the reduced recoil he got shortly after release.

  • I highly disagree with Hillbilly having the worst. He has recovery speed, increased steering, increased overheat limit, increased cooling rate, LoPro chains, and decent Iridescents. He is definitely not worse than any of the other killers on OP's list.

Freddy takes second place for me. The new noise add-ons are not that helpful. Reduced Teleport cooldown is decent, Dream Pallets are cool (I see it as more of a different playstyle than a downgrade), and the Red Paint Brush is good. Everything else he has is useless of close to it.

Ghost Face takes worst place for me. His Iridescents are OK but you have to go out of your way to make them work. I personally like Night Vision Monocular but even those mentioned still pale in comparison to recovery add-ons. He REALLY needs an add-on pass and they have to decrease his base cool-down for Night Shroud to make other add-ons viable, just like they did for Wraith by giving him Windstorm.

I agree with Deathslinger's add-ons not making a huge difference from his base-kit, but I think most of them have at least some usefulness.

Pyramid Head's purple and Iridiscents are all hot garbage and I hope he gets a pass for those alone, but his green and below ones are decent. It's just boring that they're all just different levels of the same 4 things.

Legion's aren't too bad in my opinion. Increased FF duration, power recovery, faster cooldown, 2 of the 3 pins, increased DW time, and Iridescent button are all decent.

  • Because he's a metal head and post-apocalyptic stuff is super metal?

  • I think his green ones are underappreciated. Love the way his cane looks in those.

  • Pyramid Head too. All of his very rares and ultra rares are awful. There's not a single redeeming quality about them.

  • Obviously, you could also just trash it and hope for an easier daily.

  • I try to just play normally and get it over several games, but I agree, that daily is worse than the old Ghostface one.

  • BHVR isn't stupid. For Silent Hill, they didn't pull from SH Homecoming or Downpour. They went with content from classic SH 1,2, and 3 because they know those are the most iconic.

Same logic will apply to RE.

  • There's only so many ways you can design a 5. Don't read too much into it.

  • In all honesty, don't worry about gens. Just focus on chasing and being as accurate with your knives as you can.

Then switch to Huntress or Deathslinger and you will notice a significant improvement in your gameplay with them.

Seriously. Practicing Trickster makes you much better with the other two because they only have to hit a survivor once for a health state.

  • Scythe

    Flail

    Morningstar

    Kusarigama

    Naginata

    Halberd

    Circular Saw (melee or projectile)

    Trident

    Hook swords

  • Nice guide! I'm sure this will be helpful to anyone who is confused on how to use these.

  • While the rift skin may not be the most exciting, I disagree with her not having any good skins. Sea Goat Worshipper and Dark Devotee are my favorites of hers.

  • This is probably nitpicking, but I also hate how you can't see the blade on it except during the wiping animation. I hope they can re-angle it slightly left so it feels more like an axe.

  • They literally posted in the last update they have key reworks incoming and they will pass along more info as soon as they can. Be patient.

  • I agree! Jeff and Deathslinger.

  • I love spirit but I don't play her that often cause I know survivors hate going against her.

  • If everyone was running Windstorm on Wraith before because they needed it to do well, then it's a GOOD thing they made it base kit. Wraith has nothing going for him in chase, so he needs to be able to patrol and catch people in unsafe spots. Let's see how he does with this buff for a couple months and if a majority of players agree it's too oppressive then I'm sure it will get toned down.

Victor goes to town with his claws during Mori but when he's on your back, he's useless. Run, vault same speeds. Makes perfect sense!

He should put you in Deep Wound.

It's part of why I'm not a huge fan of the Twins from a design standpoint. Victor's animations don't believably convey exactly how he is able to injure and down people (besides his mori). He either just rides survivors piggyback, which somehow makes them broken, or somehow downs them with his tiny baby hands. I guess we're just expected to suspend our disbelief on this one?

  • @Callisto_ said:

I never understood how you can just walk around with victor on top of you and you won’t go down. Like do you see how sharp those claws and teeth are? You can just walk around so casually. I know it’s for balance but still very odd

Again, what claws? I know Victor's not a child, but he still has smooth baby hands.

  • I'm confused on the Look-See. The suit looks perfect for a Doctor skin but his weapon looks just like Trapper's default cleaver. It's the same shape.

I'm putting my bets on Nemesis being the killer for the upcoming RE chapter just because he is so iconic to the series. I had some fun thinking up some potential powers that may suit him. Let me know what you think!

    Power #1: Advanced Weaponry

Nemesis will wield either a minigun, flamethrower, rocket launcher, or some combination thereof as his power.

    The minigun:

    • Has a wind-up before firing and cooldown after firing

    The flamethrower:

    • Has a short range with some limited sweeping capabilities
    • Can damage multiple survivors at once if close together

Both weapons would need to damage survivors for a certain amount of damage to equal a health state like with the Trickster's laceration meter but there is no decay (or maybe only decays to half at most if too OP).

    The rocket launcher:

    • Has a red dot sight so both the killer and survivor have a clear visual but there is a short delay before Nemesis can fire.
    • The rocket launcher would have a travel velocity but instadowns and has a radius of splash damage so it could hit around some corners.
    • Has a cooldown before Nemesis can fire another rocket.

All weapons would also significantly decrease Nemesis's movement speed while in use.

This power could also function somewhat similar to Trickster where either the minigun or flamethrower is his normal power and the rocket launcher is his "Main Event".

    Power #2: relentless pursuer

This power would function as a combination of Spirit and Oni. When holding the power button, Nemesis breaks into a fast sprint. He has mostly full control when sprinting with some dead angles, similar to Demon Dash. He can also collide with walls without stopping, and can instantly break through dropped pallets and breakable walls while continuing to sprint like with Hillbilly's LoPro Chains add-on.

Nemesis does not need to collect any blood orbs, but can only use the ability for a limited duration (5-10 seconds) and must wait for the power bar to fully fill before using it again. If he hits a survivor while sprinting, he does a single health state of damage, but he has a grace period of 2-3 seconds after sprinting where he has an extended lunge and can instadown.

    Power #3: T-Virus Mutation

This would combo the powers of Deathslinger and Pyramid Head's Punishment of the Damned (PotD), with some noticeable differences. Nemesis would have two abilities with this power:

Ability #1 - Tentacle Grab: Nemesis can use his tentacles to snag survivors at an 18-20 meters range and pull them towards him for a basic attack, however:

    • There is a clear wind-up animation that Nemesis cannot stop once he starts, giving the survivor an opportunity to dodge or use LOS.
    • Nemesis can flick his camera last second if he correctly predicts a juke, just like with Huntress hatchets.
    • Successful grabs only cause a single health state of damage, no deep wound.
    • If there is an interaction where a survivor vaults a pallet or window while being grabbed, the tentacle is immediately broken and the survivor receives deep wound.
    • Rather than having to reload, using this ability would use up Nemesis's entire power gauge and it would need to refill completely before he could use it again.
    • Nemesis still moves at 115% M/S.

Ability #2 - Tentacle Spears: Nemesis will stop to snake his tentacles through the ground which will erupt in front of him and cause a single health state of damage, however:

    • The tentacles initially move a bit slower than PotD
    • The tentacles move in a straight line at first and consume a portion of the power gauge. However, Nemesis has the option to hold the ability which allows him to control the direction the tentacles move.
      • The longer the ability is held, the more the power gauge is consumed and the longer the cooldown is before Nemesis can move again.
      • The tentacles will go further and faster up to a maximum distance and speed the longer the ability is held.
      • Nemesis can use this ability with only a portion of his power gauge available but will only have the equivalent amount of time to use it.

I know these concepts are not exactly the most original, but I'm still curious to know what you think! Is there anything you would change? Do you have an entirely different idea that could work?

    Here's my take on it!

  • Much more creative than PH's current add-ons. At least his green and below ones are fine but the purple and red ones are just some of the most useless ones to date. Really hope he gets an add-on pass.

  • Completely agree. And the recoil that he still has just kills him even further for console players. I regularly rotate between killers and I consistently do better with any of them compared to Trickster. Just because you may see streamers with thousands of hours get 4K's as Trickster doesn't mean he's good. They would have done better with any other killer.

I like the idea of having Claire and leon as survivors but I would want something from each of the first games, survivors from 2, mansion from 1, and nemesis from 3.

    That's my prediction too!

  • From a design standpoint I love him.

From a gameplay standpoint he is terrible and needs a lot of help.

  • I have bought every rift including this one and was able to earn all my cells back. I enjoy the free cosmetics, even if a lot of them are just reskins of existing cosmetics. That being said, the rift is still way too grindy, especially for casual players. It forces them to either buy the tiers they can't earn in time with cells or play until they're burnt out of the game. I also agree this current rift is the most underwhelming one so far for the rewards being offered, although the Oni skin alone was worth it for me.

  • The only thing he seems to be good for is helping me aim better with Huntress. Since I have to try and hit survivors with 8 knives twice, hitting one hatchet with Huntress afterwards is a piece of cake.

  • The Obvious choices for survivor are going to be Leon, Claire, Jill, and Chris. My guess is two of the four will be available at launch and the other two will come later as Legendary cosmetics.

This could be a stretch, but this may be the first chapter where we possibly see two killers. I'm going to say Nemesis for sure will be one of them just because he is so iconic to the series. As for a potential second one, Mr. X, RE 1 Tyrant, and William Birkin are the most likely candidates. The Devs are going to want to go for the most well-known characters, so while I would love to see Ethan Winters, Jack Baker, or Lady Dimitrescu, I think they are going to opt for the classic characters instead. I think it's safe to say we shouldn't expect anything past RE4, and if I'm wrong I doubt I will be disappointed.

  • Unfortunately that's a risk you take when you buy any character. But since almost everyone agrees Trickster is terrible right now there is always the chance he'll get buffed and be more fun later.

  • The recoil is better but still very noticeable and it makes him the least fun killer to play on console. I would rather play Nurse or Huntress and would probably do much better.

  • Nah, it should just to permanent when injured. Killers should be forced to run Predator to see scratch marks.

  • Agreed. They buffed the rarity of items found in chests a while back but finding keys is too common now. Maybe it won't matter when there is finally a key rework but I wish they would modify the chances of finding keys specifically to be lower.

  • Console player here. The buffs are nice but not nearly enough. I have zero map pressure playing him. 110% movement speed feels awful with how long it takes to injure, down, and give up chase to reload. I'm forced to either commit too long to one survivor to confirm a health state or give up and accept that I've wasted my time.

Still zero reason to play him over Huntress and I would argue is still the worst killer at the moment. 110% movement speed still feels unjustified on him. Huntress can get health states from across the map. Trickster is effectively medium range at best and LOS forces him to commit too long or give up chase.

If they insist on keeping him 110% and don't want him to be another old Freddy, they need to do a combination of any of the following:

Reduce number of knives needed to fill the laceration meter. 8 is just too much.

Remove laceration decay entirely or make survivors take time to do it themselves.

Let players activate Main Event when they want to. Or rework it entirely because it's completely underwhelming and uninspired.

    Make ricochet knives base kit.

  • I just hope it doesn't hurt the dev's reception to good, genuine feedback on here.

  • I just did the challenge by following the advice in this forum (thanks everyone!). Made sure to point twice in a row and let the full animation play out each time. I also ran Object which probably makes it a lot easier.

I don't know, I don't really think it needs to be removed/reduced, even though I disagree with it. I think they need to put forth the effort to improve controller on the whole. Because let's be real, even if they do outright remove recoil on controller, he's still going to be a pain to play, and not worth using over other ranged killers.

Tuning down the recoil and spread would be a much easier solution, so that's the one they'll go with IF they listen to feedback. Then they can move on to making ricochet base kit to make him more interesting and not letting Main Even expire for no good reason.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

Recoil and the spread is straight up awful.

I could have easily downed survivors with Huntress or Deathslinger by the time i get 1 injure as Trickster

Same for me and if I can get more reliable injuries as Huntress that's BAD

  • Glad I'm not the only one who feels this. The recoil needs to be removed or minimized considerably to make it playable for console. Unless the survivor is out in the open I am better off just going for a basic attack.
