Greetings survivors, killers, and both-siders of the Fog! I hope this thread finds you doing well.
So, today was the big day, eh? New update dropping, Dead Hard nerfed (FINALLY), Thanatophobia buffed, Legion and Plague apocalypse, bla bla bla...Originally, my plan was to take a good look at those red backgrounds, even if they are a VERY poor excuse of a reward and immediately close the game.
But...
Each Forum post here was more confusing than the other, and 95% of them had a complaint of sorts (which is not unusual, but still...) and it was getting a bit difficult to catch up. So I decided to wake up my inner GLaDOS and put my differences with current DBD behind us...for science.
And well...the result was interesting.
Now, I didn't play MANY trials, because everyone knows I can't stand current DBD for long periods of time, especially if I am by myself, but I did get to see most of the stuff that got changed. And imma just say it right now: there was an impact.
Those changes definitely made an impact.
The DH nerf easily takes the spotlight on this one, and it is such a good change that now I REALLY wish the devs had the same idea back in 2017, when they designed the perk or a few weeks after its release. This had to be done, and in a perfect scenario it would have been done a long time ago.
There is also an odd absence of Decisive Strike...really, in the spam of a few matches I believe I only saw it twice. I don't think the 3-seconds stun time is a terrible change, mostly because DS actually worked like that in the past. Whether or not this perk has been killed remains to be seen.
Now, as for the killer buffs...I have some mixed feelings towards them. I get why they did it, especially with the "Hold W Meta" (which is a stupid thing, btw), but I believe they could have buffed Brutal Strength and Fire Up instead. As for the elephant in the room...
Thanatophobia...
It has always been one of my favorite perks and seeing it finally buffed felt good. I used it on all of my games, and its usefulness is clear. Paired with gens taking longer, and Legion and Plague being...ya know, I can see this perk being a part of the "new meta", if we can even call it that way.
But, at the same time, there is some damage to be taken into consideration. Things seem to have gotten a bit rough for Solo Queue, even more so than they already were. Look, I strongly believe that the difficulty level of playing solo survivor was not as scary as some people made it out to be, mostly based on my experiences with solo q from 2018 until leaving the Fog.
But now... This update hasn't been kind to it, and I would not be surprised if there are complaints on the way.
Overall, I believe this patch did a few things which were needed...and many which were not, and perhaps even more so than most patches in DBD's recent history. I don't get why they nerfed BBQ, Ruin, Self-Care, and many others. If the objective truly was changing the meta, there are better ways to do it.
But then again, remember that everything you just read are the words of an old dog, one that no longer cares, plays...or even recognizes the game which he used to love.
And you, dear reader? What do you think of the changes released today?
I will be more than happy to read them!

The old version of it.

Yeah basically, except it makes you open the gates faster too.
Ok, cool! I liked the old left behind and might do a build where I just am crazy powerful (or try to be, at least) if I'm the last person left.

I got the charm. Is it not there on all your people? if so, might want to write up a report.

Since we can't rightly punish people for playing with their friends, yes.
There should be a global voice chat, much like OW. You can opt in or out. Definitely add a ping system.
After we do that we can start balancing around SWF's. The gap won't ever close between premades and randoms, but it doesn't have to be the chasm that it is right now.
THe map (item) has that add-on but in In-door maps the add-on is basically useless (I think).

Same old gloom and doom. "This patch will ruin dbd. RUIN I say!". Someone makes a thread like this every, single, patch. The games still going.
This patch will Ruin Ruin and Ruin will be Ruined again! (making a joke here)

I've been playing Dead by Daylight for about 3 years and I don't usually use the forum that much, but today I felt compelled to do so, after all, DBD doesn't always make such a notorious update. I'm extremely satisfied with the changes in the meta of the game, every game I played before it made me want to just end the game and go play something else, because it was always the same thing, you had killer builds extremely OPs, and survivors with incredibly annoying builds. But that has changed! As a killer main I am extremely happy with this update, the nerfs to the perks were needed, and the balancing done to some of them through the PTB was amazing, so thanks to the devs for listening to the community and applying the changes. I also think the game has become more fun and has finally established itself as what it should have been from the beginning, a game where survivors MUST FEAR the killer. Apart from the balance update the new prestige system was great to reduce the game's grinding, even with 2k hours in the game I still didn't have all the perks I wanted in my killers and survivors, but now that's changed. In conclusion, thank you very much BHVR for the update, and finally I would like to know what other players think about this.
I'm just getting Surv. and Gen rushes now, but agreed when I get that 1 match that I don't.

K, just making sure. thanks!

Would you agree that atleast one of them are hacking ? Two of them immediately left after the gens were completed (like they already were in the exit gates while the gens completed) there was 1 other that left about a min late and I caught one that went for the other gate
Yep

- Legion + Distressing + Susie's Mix.- The best stealth you can get.
- Bing-Bong Wraiths + The Beast Add-on - Bing bong bing bong bing bong bing bong bing bong * the entire match
- Burger King Myers- God-Speed.
And These, in my opinion, are the best at stealth. 100%

@JakeCannon said:
So I'm assuming the group that finished all 5 gens all at the same time literally as SOON as the screen loaded in were hacking ?
I wouldn't assume the WHOLE group as suspects, but this IS a complicated one (especially if you don't know who the person was).

I've rarely seen him mentioned as of late. Anybody consistently have 'it' in your rotation of killers? I still find him a blast to play with the semi jump scares and Nightfall.
Or has he just been forgotten in a long list?
Right now my Dredge is PII Lv. 1, so I'll need to put some points on him before I play him again.

Going purposfully down to deep wound to counter corrupt has the same energy as afking untill 3 gens are done so you can start with 3 stacks if fire up
Why 3?

If we have Comms. like F13, I'd be fine with In-game comms.

Yes...After this perk you speak of is added, killers will now be able to use COH...I see it all so clearly!

I would say that maybe the Devs could pull an F13 and add comms...but that's a bad idea (maybe perhaps if there was a range it would be fine, like F13 (if you've played it, you know what I'm talking about)). Please don't spam hate at me just for saying this...

You will always get usage out of this perk.
Survivors 90% of the time will spawn as far as possible from you. At least one or two of them would be on the furthest part of the map. This means that because of corrupt they will be forced to to gens closer to you, making them take longer to start repairs.
If you do end up chasing and downing a survivor at the start of the match, then you most likely will have already forced survivors to the part of the map that is away from the blocked generators.
So to recap, you are guaranteed value because no matter what survivors will be forced to move closer to you in the map to do more gens, therefore slowing them down. This also increases the chance of them grouping up on gens, meaning if you end up interrupting them later on you are now pressuring two survivors at once.
Okay!

Note: It's not by order from best killer to worst killer
New DS will only be a bit of a problem for weaker killers while the strong killers will just eat it like it's their daily breakfast, laugh at you while eating it and then catch you right after that with no problem.
Personally, if the Surv. is contaminated, a Tier 3 Nemesis could be on the top tier (IMO)
-
Come on...It's Double XP...I guess you could play survivor (idk how much XP survs. get, so)

You my friend are rhe perfect example as to why Corrupt was nerfed
Because now, its no longer an obvious choice! There are actually other viable options!
There's really no need for that..
-
@GlamourousLeviathan said:
The main purpose of Corrupt is to prevent gens from being done while you still don't have means to get the ball rolling. Once you down a survivor you have a way to start applying pressure on the map, therefore, Corrupt's job is done.
Although I do agree that the nerf was unnecessary, I doubt that the nerf will drop it's usage.
Thanks for actually Explaining it!

i swear i saw somewhere that the killer is alex wesker and the survivors are ada wong and rebecca chambers.
While Project W was mentioned in RE5, Alex may be possible...It'd have to be mutated Alex though, and I don't know why the survivors would be Ada & Chambers (as I don't think there is any connection, but since when did DBD have connection?)
-
@BadZilla said:
During normal circumstances getting a down before the nerf takes about the same or more duration of Corrupt so you will get the same value pretty much unless survivors are grouping and you're playing someone that can down survivors quickly like nurse or blight.
Alright.

@dugman said:
As far as Legion goes, if you get your first down from a five chain hit, assuming the survivors are even close enough together to do it, you’re looking at probably say 10 seconds to get into a chase plus about 35-40 seconds worth of following chases by the time you get you fifth hit. So Corrupt will have lasted at least 45-50 seconds out of a possible 90 which is still ok.
But as to the main point, I think Corrupt will be fine on most killers and be best for killers that have particularly slow early games (e.g. Hag, Trapper, Meyers). It’ll be weakest on killers that can get really quick downs, but even on those it’ll still be a period of time the survivors probably aren’t getting much done on the gens.
I don't mean the end of the 5-chain, I mean hitting someone and running off to hit someone else with Feral, but the first surv. downs theirselves with the deep wound effect to end Corrupt Early. I get what you're saying, though.
-
But, like, if you hit a survivor once i=with feral frenzy and they purposely get downed to end Corrupt...Wouldn't it be better to equip a perk that has more usages (perhaps Thrilling Tremors)?
-
@SuzuKR said:
If you get a down before Corrupt ends, you already got value.

I don’t really mind Haddonfield anymore tbh.
Same. The only maps I don't really like are the Coldwind realm (prob. not what it's called, but) maps and that's just because of how big they are. It's going to be a slight nightmare with the Corrupt Nerf incoming (I don't usually argue with nerfs and buffs unless it's truly a poor decision, and this one was leaning on border of both as killers like Legion can really suffer from this (if you feral frenzy someone at start, leave them, and the timer runs out, deactivating the corrupt intervention and making it a useless perk (in my opinion))) and my Nemesis build 's going to have to be changed (as it runs corrupt for crowd control purposes to power up earlier in the game) but will most likely be changed to a perk that blocks gens for more crowd control (Hex: crowd control doesn't CURRENTLY fit my build, but).
-
It happened with me also, so It's true.

For sure try and get a Ryzen 5 or 7 CPU! Great performance for the price! Keep in mind that Dead by Daylight is extremely CPU demanding, and with a mid-range GPU like a GTX 1060 you'll be just fine at 1080p.
I use a Ryzen 7 3700x and an RTX 3070. I play at 1440p Ultra with very solid performance on pretty much all the maps, except Haddonfield and Garden of Pain. I'd recommend sticking to medium settings at 1080p and you'll get a solid gaming experience pretty much no matter what situation you're in!
You can use PCPartPicker to find what parts work best for you!
I'm actually on the site right now!

It's going to be RE5 Wesker. I say that based on the first RE chapter. The first zRE chapter only proved they have the licenses for RE2 and 3 Remakes, RE4 and RE5. IF the decided to do him accurately unlike Nemesis, he'd be all about super smooth movement and super speed. He better have his voice lines though. Having no voice lines for Wesker would be like having no voice lines for Ash or Nemesis not at all saying S.T.A.R.S.!

Of course if it's the Eternal (and maybe 2016, I haven't played 2016 in a while) Archville, then maybe BHVR could redeem their Nemesis Zombie "AI" with the summoning power. Or maybe firewall block vaulting locations. That'd be pretty cool. Of course having some enemies like Mancubus and Those Invisible Pinky's and Whiplash's could be problematic. I feel like if there was a Archvile DLC, then there should be a special item to fit the scenario of certain enemies attacks to allow more than just feeble demons in here. Maybe make the Archvile and Summoned demons killable, but needs a item to kill them.

In a way, ironically the trickster's ability kinda works how og archville's flame attack did. He had to see you and start channeling it on you, and you had to be in his line of sight when he detonated it. not exactly the same, but this topic made me think about how they're not as different as i thought.
Wow, I didn't even think of that.

Part of the 1000 problems is the different movesets of the ArchViles through the series. just an FYI.

I noticed that you didn't take a moment to look around the corners before picking up or opening the lockers, despite knowing what their play was. There was always someone waiting behind the corner. If you don't want to have to chase off the other survivors - which is fair enough, time is against you afterall - then I'd agree that Lightborn would be your best bet. It would negate all of their play.
Forgot completely about lightborn!

Sadly i didnt have it on wraith at that time because i prestiged him, but yeah you need at least a bandaid perk to fix the problem. But the right thing to do is probably fix the locker placements on big open areas. Being forced to use a perk to play the game properly is why the devs made BT basekit
Sadly by fixing the locker placement, that screws up the Dredge and either buffs or nerfs it (depending on how it is done) and would probably make some people mad. We don't need another Freddy with the Dredge.

If you have Franky's, then maybe use that if if all 4 flashlights? I understand if you don't have it, but.
