guys, we got a anticheat update, and it's been in the game the entire time, here it is:
-
cheaters now can hold people hostage in a new way by carrying someone on their shoulders while playing survivors (hard to explain, but that's the easiest way without a vid). If you want to see a good video of this happening, see Epidemy video on this.

Condamned will be useless
bro actually gets it the worst though…

we play it because there’s no other good asymmetrical horror game that’s good out currently. We’re all waiting for the return of F13.

For Huntress I recommend going sticking to the basics before going for anything crazy. I know its very tempting to go for these fancy crossmaps and orbitals, and throwing 1 or 2 every once in a while definitely doesnt hurt, but you do waste quite a bit of time doing so. As for general chases dont move your mouse much and focus on your movement, but more importantly the survivors movement. Simply holding up a hatchet might make a survivor try to dodge side to side to try to avoid it, and all you have to do is wait till they run into your crosshairs (well, center of your screen lol)
As for Huntress builds, anything that gives bluetooth gen regression like Pain Res or Ruin are always good options. She's great at zoning so Blood Favor or Brutal are also good options. I also like running No Way Out on her since she's pretty good during endgame at securing a kill, and No Way Out helps a tone with that.
I’ve tried orbitals as huntress and they’re hard to hit if you don’t practice constantly. I mainly just try and go for long distance bullet hatchets, because they’re pretty easy to hit.

I know that much, just wondering just how big those piles are. Do people have hundreds of these yet?
definitely, people have prob had hundreds before the event if they’re serious about the game (personally, I’m not that serious and just take the little wins when they’re there).
-
Good BP event right now, so people will spend more bp.

didn’t know, got it

1 whole year ahead? And now when PTB is in just few hours on new licensed chapter… kinda odd :D
The suprise effect will be long gone when summer 2025 comes. Its so far away.
Expect good

So I get wanting to make more perks viable but I have to ask: did you really have to bring back the 2018 meta? I mean my matches as killer are all the same, old DS IW DH + one other perk (most of the time finesse.) Please tell me isn't going to last another 4-5 years this time.
Also can my boy Ruin get a buff so we can slow the game down just a lil'bit and go full OG meta?cant make killers stronger, gotta bring in more survs (4:1, ya know) so they can bring in their friends. this game may die if the catch-up sequence is real. the old ruin everyone would complain about, but I mean, if theres the meta ran all the time, you know what that tells me? theres no fun builds that are viable.

nothing works right now is the theme of the game

I'm not going to pretend I have nearly as big a stake in this matters as others, since realistically speaking the only thing I'd like to transfer from my Switch account are Stranger Things skins I bought before it left the stores a few years ago, but I agree that a show of goodwill from BHVR would go a long way here.
These are digital assets that have for the most part already made their money and earned their value in terms of cost, I think that despite BHVR's smaller status as a company, they could bite the bullet instead of punishing those who have invested so much money into the Switch port.
At the very least, Nintendo will probably allow Cross Progression between Switch 1 and whatever the successor is called. I wonder how long the Switch Port will last tbh, it's never been the best running or prettiest game, but 2v8 getting an active warning about its playability is a pretty big sign that it's on borrowed time.
Its been on borrowed time for awhile now. That was just a dev acknowledging it (no offense).

yeah the standards are low and always have been. But when we’ve invested so much time and money it is just a very bitter pill to swallow.
I mean the rational part of me does understand and I bought a steam deck because it is the closest thing to switch handheld experience (whilst being FAR superior in visual and performance). I knew the time for switch was nigh and pre-emptively made the move. As @CountOfTheFog mentioned, we usually buy the switch for the Nintendo licence games and can understand and forgive the compromises in terms of graphics and performance etc of other games, however, the sheer investment (monetary and otherwise) makes the situation a very demoralising one.
It makes me sad more than anything but I hope there will be a positive solution for everyone - the problem is the switch playerbase (at least it feels so to me) is seen as ‘not worthy’ enough to have attention paid to it. But the fact is we spend money and love the game as much as anyone .
This.

Would have to be when I first started playing. I loved the horror aspect of the game. Not knowing anything about the killers and what the could do.
After I played a few matches I assumed all killers had a TR. Then I ran into a tier one Myers. It scared the crap out of me.
Scratched Mirror a couple years back was fun, now its hard to get use out of the add on (with how many speed perks there are)
-
Nintendo Switch is the worst console to play on, sorry. It may be be the Internet, or a variety of other issues, but the game really struggles on the switch (I know as a former switch player myself) and and may only get worse. Sorry about this.
Also, please don't take this as an answer, I know plenty of other users on this forum know way better than I do. -
I've been doing some research recently, and it seems the last three maps have been getting larger and larger in terms of meters or tiles, whatever unit the wiki uses for their math. Anyways:
-
@LeFennecFox said:
That's every map they've released in the last few years. Their art team is more worried about everything looking pretty at the expense of killer powers
So it seems.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Cluttered. I don't like it much.
Yeah, it's very hard to move around as hillbilly in certain parts of the map (as near impossible), and only decent in others.
-
@MikeyBoi said:
There seems to be this trend on the come up where these Hillbilly players are running spies from the shadow with deer stalker and just literally slug the whole match until all 4 survivors are down then hook. It’s quite strong especially if the billy player is very good.
Yeah, I've found it to be very useful on billy.
@Akumakaji said:
Its basically my most used info perk at this point. No one expects it, survivors often have no idea how I got wind of them and you often get notifications of survivors that you had no inkling of that they were there. The perk often works as eyes in the back of your head, like you suspect a survivor is somewhere, but they evade your gaze and leave no scratch marks, you want to leave, but a crow notification goes off behind your back: boom! There you are.
I honestly can't fathom why so many forum users consider this perk outright bad, I guess they only theory-craft and never used the perk anytime after they "graduated" from being a newby. A lot of criticism stems from the fact, that the perk offers inaccurate info and is not an aura reading perk, and thats true, but its also basically free and has unlimited uses. It helps in finding sneaky survivors, during the exit gates phase and a myriad other situations.
Its only countered by Calm Spirit, and since the short lived mini-hype around Ultimate Weapon died down and survivors decided that Calm Spirit isn't worth the perk slot to counter UW, I have seen it being used maybe trice. But I am totally fine with Spies being an underrated niche perk, thats just suiting me and my playstyle, you guys can all play Nowhere to Hide or Ultimate Weapon, why my Crow spies rat out hundreds of survivors each week.
EDIT: anyone of you played Alien Isolation? In that game the alien has two AIs. One normal everyday AI that reacts to sounds and sights as you would expect, but also an instinctive director AI that always knows where the player character is and that occasionally gives the other AI tips, like "hmm ... maybe go look in the kitchen" or "why not go check out the vents?". Spies in the Shadows is basically this instinctive AI for killers, if feeds you constant hunches of where to look, without stating the survivors position outright, like aura reading, but this hunches are pretty solid, because this birds where agitated by a survivor who was definitely there.
Your, "eyes on the back of the head" is what I gained from it.

Most of the maps are large and open, which makes this perk useless because you can see a survivor alerting a crow if you look up and there are some maps that don't have crows at all, like midwich and RPD.
There are better information perks too.
RPD 100% has crows (you just may not be able to look up and see them). Unsure about Midwich, however. I haven't used the perk on that map.
-
@OneGoodBoyDemo said:
No, it's a bad perk. I can only see this perk being useful on maps like Hawkins and lery's.
Why is it bad?

But you know who does have a capital L in their name? Matthew Lillard, who is set to appear in the Five Night at Freddy’s movie!
There’s no way you can deny it. We are getting Matthew Lillard. The L has spoken.
But with that logic, we could assume other chapters and people, too...(not to be a party pooper, just stating the logic)

I see that, I'm just genuinely curious if the piss would have been a possibility. He didn't mention anything about it and I don't play clown enough to know.
Maybe...the clown strats seem to be pretty deep (though he was on random perk, and on game, so)

Yeah, we all have those games where you get dumpstered, don't have fun, and feel like the entire other team is laughing at you the whole time. It's nice to be reminded it even happens to those killer mains with 10,000 hours
Is that how many hours Otz has? (I'm actually asking)
-
@Nun_So_Vile said:
Well played. I'm curious though to if switching to a piss bottle would have done anything to change the outcome on some loops.
Otz admitted that he had multiple mistakes and that he def could've played better.

Yeah, playing killer right now is pretty miserable. At least if you favor the weaker ones, like I do.
I long for the days where I can play a build that isn't 4 regression perks and not go into it knowing I'll lose LOL
Honesty, imo, Health makes the game balanced, but not fun. May be a hot take, but I had more fun in the way earlier versions of the game.

idk, but I think the community has agreed that the new maps have been (more) cluttered vs their original counterparts (maybe excluding The Corn Map. That was bad). I don't know how much pallet have changed, but they probably changed some loops on some new maps when trying out some new things, so.
-
As long you cannot 99% hooks, idc

How do you define that challenge compared to what you see as bullying?
That's a really good question, and one I really thought of when typing this response.
You understand that they can run more utility perks and less info perks, and are more coordinated.
What I would consider a "bully" SWF is one that purposely gets in your way to make your life a "pain", ex. sending you to The Game, a map that has some of the most interconnected loops and pallet spawns, which is the one of the largest problems about this map.
I think the actions I would assume to be a "bully" SWF could be one that constantly sabotages hooks, teabags at pallets, constant flashlight saves, etc. of course I may never truly know until the game ends, as with all SWF, and even then, I may not know. It may just be something with the survivor.
Though I do want to add that "bully" SWF have decreased in quantity and power after things like the saboteur rework, along with how hooks now can't be 99% and then broken with sabo when the killer is coming over.
and onto part 2: Challenging SWF
I would like to think a number of things that go into a challenging, yet productive SWF, one that may balance hooks, may get someone killed with a chase blunder or a killer brilliance, but gets 2-4 escapes with smart play from both sides. What I may mean by Blunders and Brilliance (I play Chess loads, just not recently due to anniversary) is something like deciding to go another time around the loop when injured, but the killer gets a hit. I wouldn't count it as a brilliance as a killer, but a Blunder, as had they dropped it, they most likely would've went on longer. As for a Brilliance, it may be something (right now), like running the killer through Myers' home window and blocking it. That is a brilliant move from the survivor side, and the killer side has to work to keep up. Now for killer, I think a blunder would and or could be things like missing too many attacks, not kicking a generator at the right time, etc. (it depends on what killer, I would say). For a brilliant move, I would say taking a lunge attack that prevents a pallet and could, a. get you a down and a hook, or b. get you a down that you could use for slugging pressure (not fun, yet if you are in it to win it, it is a valid strategy that you may see streamers use sometimes). Now I feel like perks I would normally see challenging SWF run are more team oriented perks that do things to help speed gens, or something like that.
I feel like i'm forgetting something, but if anyone has anything to say about thing please feel free to quote me, and i'll try to get back to you about what you want!
Thanks to everyone on this forum!
AND a special thank you to Mandy, to whom this entire post wouldn't have been created!

That's DBD for ya.

I have fun playing with people who actually have the intent of making my killer life a challenge, yet not "bullying" me.

To unlock a mask you need to unlock the gates and begin end game. Plus, 7000 points just for escaping so people want as much bloodpoints as possible from all the BP stacks.
true, true...though I would add new gears are common even off the event, so.

There are no objectives to do but gens. I play killer for the most part and understand. Idk if they buffed gen time, sorry for not being able to answer, but.

I doubt that would happen, but BHVR is BHVR.

No, it's just people bored of playing against him because they can't loop the good chase power killers :(
