  • My guesses:

Killer: Tyrant with cosmetic options for Mr. X and Nemesis. Seems like the most likely pick to appease the most fans and represent the most games.

Survivor: Leon. He's arguably the biggest fan favorite and one of the main faces of the franchise.

Map: Something Raccoon City related since most of the franchise seems to come back to or reference Raccoon City.

  • I got it by running Iridescent Seal and the green apple add-on and after building up some infections camping hooks. The first game I hit two once but they decided to not do gens because it gave me my power so I was forced to end the game normally so they wouldn't continue to deny my power by not doing gens. The second game I used basement with a corrupt fountain in the shack and got it super easy.

  • I would be okay with them testing it in a ptb or over a weekend to see how it effects things but I have the feeling it would bring back some of the abuseability of the perk that the nerf was designed to remove. I could be 100% wrong, in which case more chances for players against hard tunnelers. I'm just super cautious about adding things players can abuse because we all know if it can be abused players of this game will find a way.

  • Totally and 100% agree with you on these videos. Yes Cowshed is a strong map for survivors but not broken and by no means are these 1v1 challenges there an indicator on anything in the general balance of the game.

Try dodging those lobbies when they get too much toolboxes etc. They're probably SWF and against them, there isn't much you can do, apart playing really... really dirty and sweaty.

I dodge lobbies a lot, for some reason in my area in the evening it's, Key, key, TTV, TTV, key, 4 flashies, key, key, flashies, and eventually I want to actually play a game so I'll suffer through a three toolbox match. I despise Keys, TTVs, and clicky clickers more than the "gen rush" squads lol

Trapper as a Hag main I feel handicapped needing to bring a bag and still hobble around the map to collect your traps and so dependent on perks. I also don't like Wraith don't enjoy his hit and run and he's still so dependent on many things.

My three mains are Hag, Trapper, and Ghostface. For me it's such a different play style between Trapper and Hag that use different skill sets that imo you can't really compare them. The only real similarity is having to know where to trap but Trapper relies more heavily on M1 and chase skills to zone properly and shut down loops whereas Hag is all about understanding survivor pathing and tile placement. I do play Hag very aggressively and use her optimally in chases but she doesn't need it.

  • I play both sides so some of these are influenced by my time as survivor:

Wraith, went from feeling weak and meh M1 to feeling almost broken with the right add-ons.

Freddy, too many powers that many survivors just throw the game for.

Plague, I agree she just feels sluggish but also when I was trying to adept her most people just threw the game or DC'd the minute I would start to snow ball.

The chainsaw bros, Billy is difficult for me to use his power in a chase and I'm sure it would just take practice but the loud noises bother me. And Bubba is just cancer and needs to be completely reworked again.

And then there's killers I really want to like but mechanically or strength wise they turn me off of playing them more than once a month: Twins (Bugs and unnecessary nerfs), Trickster (great visual design but power is too weak for the limitations put on him), and Blight (mechanically very difficult and after spending a month detailing and learning Nurse u don't want to do that again for him lol)

I might get 4 but I need to clear a lot of space in my PC, and I don't really have a whole lot, but I'll see what I can do, however I have been saving my money for the chapter but we have to see how it turns out first

4 is only like 5gb I think, maybe up to 8gb. It was released in early 2005 for the GameCube and re released for PS2 in late 2005 and in 2007 the complete edition (PS2 version) was released on the Wii and PC.

  • The only time I complain about a 4E or "gen rush" when I'm playing killer is when they play super efficient and the game is over in under 6 minutes. Like how is it fun to send me to Haddonfield with three BNPs on Commodious tool boxes and extra charge add-ons pound out three gens before I can get one down then have the exit gates open before a second survivor can be found? If I'm just playing poorly or picked a killer I don't do particularly well with that's one thing but when a SWF will go out of their way to make the game as short as possible and nobody leaves the trial with more than 12,000 BP it's a boring waste if a game. I don't care if I get the 4k as long as it's a battle to the end of the game, I'd rather have 8 hooks and 4 escapes in 10 minutes then 2 hooks and 4 escapes in 5.

For all the arguments I see flying around that Capcom would want the chapter to tie-in to their newest game entry, I'm confused why there's so rarely any mention about the RE Netflix series (starring Leon & Claire) that comes out on the second week of June.

If it was so important to Capcom that RE Village be highlighted in other media, why wouldn't the Netflix series revolve around Ethan? If that series is dropping at roughly the same time as the DBD chapter (and features iconic protagonists from earlier entries of the series,) why would Capcom not want to capitalize on that?

I'm not trying to railroad your thread into something else, I'm just trying to show I ultimately agree with you through what makes sense to me haha.

I didn't watch the Capcom stream so I didn't even know there was a series until today and after watching the trailer I got super excited. That to me strengthens my thought that Leon is gonna be the survivor, he seems to be a fan favorite character and despite Chris appearing in more games Leon has shown up in more other RE media and continues to receive love from Capcom, hell, in Village they even make fun of Chris as a "Boulder punching #########" lol

I honestly can't picture RE1 without those camera angles... just feels wrong. but it's 100% an aquired taste. It WILL feel weird at first.

you could just watch a gameplay on youtube if you would rather do that. if possible, just watch the intro cutscene from the original, it is legendary on how cheesy/bad it was. I love it

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC43nI987u8

play the remake if you feel like playing RE1. the original is rough to play, specially if you never played on tank controls before.

RE4 is so ######### good. best RE game imo.

With how much of 4 they brought in for Village it's creeping it's way up to best game for me, the only thing holding it back is the boss fights, almost every boss in 4 felt like it could be the final boss of any RE game but the Village bosses just seem underwhelming, which could be because of the first person pov not lending to their scale and arena but they felt meh to me

I really am kinda scared if that is gonna be the case, because then I think they'll solely focus on the old games. I never played the OG games given that I'm still in high school and that, and never got into RE until 7 came out. I'm not saying they shouldn't just focus on the newer games because the older games deserve some love too I just hope they don't just only focus on the old games

The "old" games have been getting remakes in the form of RE2 and RE3 and there's rumors circling that RE4 will be getting a remake too although I think it's more likely that they'll go back to RE0 and RE before then since 0 was released in 2002 and the HD remaster of RE was released in 2003. With the success of the RE2 remake and the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness coming out with my sexy mans Leon as the lead I have a feeling survivor is gonna be him. I highly recommend picking up the RE2 remake, it's the essential game for understanding the Raccoon City incident, has some of the best set pieces in the franchise, and introduced the world to the dreamboat that is Leon S. Kennedy <3

P.S. RE4 is usually pretty cheap on steam if that's your platform and I highly recommend picking that one up too.

  • I play with an Xbone controller and wireless dongle on my PC for both killer and survivor. I don't game at a desk and have my PC hooked up to my tv through HDMI and hard-lined to my modem so I can play on my couch and relax.

I agree too, but then again I think the entire Emblem system and point caps are outdated and not really in synch with where Dead by Daylight is going. For better or for worse we are approaching (if we aren't there already) a time when SWF outnumber Solo entirely. There are teams where specific Players have strengths and tend to take on certain roles. The best Loopers tend to bait and distract the Killer, the best evaders do Generators and kill Totems. Supposedly there is this "skill based" matchmaking system waiting in the wings (although it is starting to sound more like a Unicorn or Bigfoot at this point) which doesn't use Rank at all. If that is the case, why keep Rank at all and why keep an antiquated system of emblems and maximum points?

I understand the original idea. When most people were Solo, the DEV wanted to encourage Players to be well-rounded and do lots of different things. I think the intention was noble, but it has never really worked. Different Players have different talents and enjoy different things. Insisting that every Player help get two Generators up, do two unhooks and escape several chases in every match is unrealistic and somewhat unreasonable. The reality is that Blood Points should not be capped. You get what you get.

Point caps are worthless. When I get maxed out on Objective and can't get an unhook because of people farming or I get chased all match and max out boldness in the first two minutes it makes me wonder why I even bother playing survivor outside of tome challenges.

  • I dunno, when I'm forced to be the gen jockey I'm lucky if I get more than 11,000pts as I watch everyone else farm unhooks in the killers face and just trade until someone dies and I finally die on first hook with only 8-10,000pts.

I gotta ask, don't your Survivors head for the hills when Starstruck activates? I know I would if I faced it. I've not tried it mind you, I just would figure they'd leave asap.

They run away at first but when they see how bad I am with him they get really cocky and I get a few extra hooks off of them. Granted by that point almost all of the gens are done and I'm left trying to secure one or two kills before they all escape lol

That's funny cause anecdotally I run into more toxic clicky Kates then I do Nea

  • My way build for him is a backpack build, Iron Grasp, Starstruck, Agitation, and Mad Grit. I'm by no means a Trickster main or any good with him but I have found people seem more likely to swarm him. I think the reason that is is the Tricksters that have absolutely annihilated me have all been rocking MYC and Devour.

I think she's infected with the original strand the progenitor virus, isn't village supposed to be where it all started. The houses that built Umbrella?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2195223#Comment_2195223

I like that theory ,but i would be very generic not to give the actual personality to the character.

No, Spencer got his inspiration for Umbrella from Mother Miranda, the progenitor was discovered in Africa and it's origins are explained in 5 and confirmed that he discovered it after encountering Miranda in Village.

  • Not necessarily but to me his early mutations from the G virus have a similarity to the Tyrants in appearance, namely the one giant clawed arm and exposed organ weak spots, that he might as well be called a G Series Tyrant lol

For that matter too you could probably consider some of the Plagas and Metamycete mutations "Tyrant" mutations and use them as cosmetics for the chapter

  • I think it's gonna be "The Tyrant" and base cosmetic is gonna be Mr. X (T-103) with sets for Prototyrant T-001, T Series Nemesis, G-Birkin, and possibly some others. The Tyrants were the big bosses and stalkers/patrollers in the first games. Many of the original survivors have gone on to other games later in the series as well so I'm guessing for survivor we're gonna get Chris or Leon since they're the males that have appeared in the most games and if they stranger Things it we'll get Claire or Jill for the female with cosmetics for which ever big name survivors they feel like adding like they did with Cheryl in the Silent Hill chapter or are doing with Steve by bringing in Jonathan Byers. And for a map it'll probably be Raccoon City related since everything comes back to Umbrella and Raccoon City, whether that's the streets, police station, underground lab, sewers, or whatnot.

I admittedly don't know much about Resi Evil, but I know I find Nemesis' visual design more interesting. I know he has a rocket launcher, which would... Be hard to incorporate into DbD, but I'm sure there are other things he can do.

The rocket launcher is a small part, same with the flamethrower. If Nemesis is the new killer I'm guessing his power will deal with his tentacles or his brute strength as opposed to try to incorporate one of the weapons he can pick up. If they focus on his strength with a crushing or rushing type of power it opens it up more to include cosmetics for Mr. X, and many of the other tyrant series B.O.W.s.

  • Learn where to trap loops to make them most effective. If you opt to trap pallets don't put them in a spot where you have to break the pallet to retrieve it, some players will drop pallets then vault directly into the trap. Honestly the best advice I ever got was watching an Otz video where he said "as Trapper even a bad trap is better than no trap." I highly recommend Otz's trapper videos for tips, tricks, and good strategies.

My build is Save the Best for Last, Pop, Brutal Strength, and BBQ. It helps me immensely by reducing the time required to resume chase.

Spend early game locking down strong loops and try not to let it get to you when the first gen or two pops, PGTW will help you defend the rest towards late game. Only pick up the obsession from traps, otherwise hit and down the others for the STBFL stacks. Brutal shortens the time to get back into chase after a pallet is dropped and speeds up gen kicking. BBQ gives you direction on where to go after a hook for gen defense or quickly pick up another chase.

For add-ons I like to run either the brown or yellow bag add-on and a dye addon. If I'm feeling lazy I'll run a bag and Iri Stone.

I play Trapper as less of a defense killer and more as an aggressive killer with defensive options. Keeping a trap in hand at all times to bait out pallet drops or shut down a strong loop I couldn't get to earlier helps a lot too.

  • I started right between Ghostface and Demo, so mid 2019 here, personally I woul never go back. The only real events I've had were 4th year anniversary, Halloween gens/hooks, and lunar new year gens/hooks but to me big events bring out the FOMO which is bad enough when the rift gets close to closing and I haven't finished it yet.

As far as balance goes most of the killers that have had "negative" changes have been ones I didn't enjoy playing in the first place so it doesn't effect me at all. There are some things that are currently frustrating but I think a big part of that is that the game is becoming more balanced so some(most) players are clinging to those powerful perks, builds, add-ons, etc. that are incredibly strong and cover their lack of ability in certain areas.

Oh don't get me wrong, Wesker is pathetic. He's just iconic, that's all.

I see lots of requests for Kennedy and Claire, which is fine because I like them all too, but I actually haven't seen many people expressing hope for Jill and even Ethan's getting more love than Chris (which I guess is fine, as I love RE7). I guess Barry's kind of a joke vote but no one seems to even remember that he exists.

I mean it's fine, if Leon and Claire are the popular wishes for survivors so be it, I have nothing against them. I'm just surprised that relatively few people are going with the original team. To me an RE pack with Jill and Chris seems like a natural choice, but then there's no doubting the popularity of the RE2 team either.

For me it's the Redfield siblings since Claire seems to be the most popular female survivor option with the option for legendary skins for other characters, I would totally get behind an Ada skin. For male the most logical to me is Chris as he has been in the most games and they can include some cosmetics for Leon or Barry or even Billy (had to try to not laugh typing that one)

  • @miketheratguy said:

I'm wondering where all the love for the original RE crew is. I never see people asking for Jill, Barry, Chris, or Wesker. It makes me wonder why everyone seems to be going from RE4 forward.

Most people seem to asking for or suggesting Jill and Chris, but you can't forget Claire is in 2 and Veronica while Leon is in 2, 4, and 6. Chris is in 1, 5, 6, 7, 8, and Veronica, Jill is in 1, 3, and 5. Barry is only in 1, Rebecca is only in 1 and 0, Wesker is the cringiest of all late 90s-early 2000s cringe villains lol

I did the adept with the Compound that reveals auras and only going for m1 hits instead of rushes. I've found playing as almost almost solely m1 killer is easiest for me for getting adepts on the newest killers from Demo to now.

I've literally cornered a survivor before, got in behind them, and refused to hit them, so that they would walk through the torment covering their only exit, and they would rather sit there and self care right in my face, and then just hang out and get crows, chillin with PH, rather than walk through it...

I just want to do my damn daily ritual, please!

Yeah, I've had situations like that too, like they know that I'm throwing the game to get a daily done but they 100% want to deny me doing it even though everyone will probably escape.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

So much for a poor PH doing his daily cage challenge lol. This thread went into weird direction

Yeah, it's like people can't read at all. Or they've only done his daily against potatoes that don't avoid the trails. I've done every dirty trick I can think of to get my PH daily from doing what was done in this clip to bringing Lerys or Midwich offerings and proxy camping a hooked survivor surrounded by trails until the rescuer or hooked survivor gets tormented.

  • I play about 50/50 and nearly all of my survivor matches are solo. For me it depends on my mood, if I'm having a good night it rolls right off me and if I'm having a bad night I switch back to killer or quit to not let it get to me. Anymore I find myself escaping around half the time by just playing efficiently and playing a little selfishly.

I play in PC with an Xbone controller cause I don't want to play at a desk and I have my PC connected to my TV in my living room. There are crosshair overlays that can help with Slinger. For both Killers play around with your controller sensitivity until you find that sweet spot for you. Blight has gotten much better since the PoV change but I don't know if that's cause I can actually see ######### or if it's because I'm just getting the hang of him with a controller.

  • "Sexy men" is censored, I was in a lobby with three David's and a new cosmetic Bill and posted "Look at all these sexy men" and it censored just "sexy men"

  • I feel the game is fairly balanced right now but because of the meta, which with the DS nerf has gotten a bit better, I find myself being out perked more than anything. Playing killer Iron Will and Dead Hard can feel very broken. Playing survivor Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer make the game feel absolutely awful if totems aren't found within the first 2 minutes. Also look at some of the biggest complaints against specific killers such as Infectious on Nurse and Oni, Stridor on Spirit, BBQ or Thrilling and Pop on Freddy.

If a game you now love came to your platform, you've been playing it since day 1 on your platform, you finally have access to everything that was for a dlc you couldn't obtain up until over a year after the release, but you couldn't have access to the map still because it was bugged, you'd be kinda mad too. Even if they were pretty bad maps.

I definitely feel ya there. I just loathe Badham so much from a gameplay standpoint, I'd rather be on Haddonfield or old Ormond as killer and Blackwater or Midwich as survivor

  • It's literally the worst 5 maps in the game, if they had cross progression I'd only play on the Switch just so I would never have to play in that dumpster fire of a realm.

  • A while back I had 5 Huntress matches in a row, more recently I had a night where out of 10 games 5 were Meyers and three were Bubba. It happens sometimes. I know I've been playing Ghostie a lot lately but that's because I'm getting tired of my usual mains (Trapper and Hag) which require more setup/zoning whereas playing as a more true M1 killer it's more about the mind games and chases.

Not even cat ears could make Nea even slightly resemble the word "cute".

I never said it'd make her look cute but she does have those short pixie cut head cosmetics that actually look really good, unlike her standard and neon hair pieces.

  • I had Autohaven and Haddonfield back to back to back all week with an occasional other map tossed in. It's reminding me of the Badham rework where they didn't remove the increased chance for a month so almost every damn match was Badham, it was so bad I brought it up for the Q&A where they addressed it.

  • Nea would be a good choice since she already has cat themed tops.

  • Not sure if somebody has mentioned it because I can't be bothered to read the replies but watch the survivor animation if they're carrying an object, if it disappears for a moment before the shock hits they're already committed to the vault or pallet drop so you won't get the stun effect with your shock.

  • One thing that helps a lot with map knowledge is playing killer. As survivor if you don't know the map you'll have less time to learn it before you're dead but playing killer gives you the opportunity to learn the strong loops and all of the generators are highlighted bright red so you can learn more of an idea where they are when you play survivor. Honestly I started as a "survivor main" switched to killer and was doing well and after the first ~200 hours I was playing both roles equally because you can learn how to be a better survivor from playing killer and how to be a better killer from playing survivor.

  • I didn't know you could leave through the gates with an inactive trap until a few months ago. There's some little nuances with different killer powers that aren't obvious right away

I got a challenge for you... give me a reason to believe that Nemesis would work in DBD without saying the word iconic, or saying that people really want him.

The problem with people saying such and such is iconic is that what's iconic to one person won't be to another. My first RE game was RE2 on the N64. To me Claire and Leon are the iconic survivor choices and William Birkin as the more iconic monster (Mr. X wasn't a big thing in the original RE2) I honestly never completely played through 3 until the remake so to me Nemesis is meh. The proto tyrant or leech monster from Ø are more iconic to me lol.

  • I feel like a Licker/Hunter/other vaguely humanoid BOW would be a good choice too. I'm not opposed to Jack as the killer, he would fit well and give better variety for power, plus his various gardening tools give variety of weapon choice.

Ideally they should Silent Hill this chapter, Resident Evil has had various "Eras" over the years from Survival Horror or "the classics" to the "Action Trilogy" with 4-6 to the revival era with 7 and potentially 8, they should take the killer from one era, map from another, and survivor/s from the third. Fans of whichever era gets the map will probably the most disappointed but there's always the possibility of legendary skins for killer or survivor/s as a work around to please more people. They could also do what they've done with the Crypt TV skins or Robbie the Rabbit skins and give other characters RE outfits.

1 … 6 7 8 9 10 … 22
