It isn't always possible. If you play solo queue, it's even harder.
I started with Claudette and it was hard to get rid of it, but you are right: it is overrated.
-
I once encountered 2 SWF in a game with my other friend and they were very, VERY toxic. The kind of people that vault around when you're doing a gen, get on a chase with the killer to bring them to you, point at where you are when the killer ha slost sight of you and all sorts.
My friend and I actually died in that match and we were salty because it hadn't been that we played bad exactly, it was just that we got f'd up by who is supposed to be on your side.
A match or two later, we see the same names pop up on our team and we are like: oh, no... Not again 😭
But we didn't leave the lobby, we stayed and played knowing their playstyle. Hiding from them while getting away from the killer.
They did try to rat us out again when they found us but THIS TIME the killer noticed how toxic they were, hooked one of them, they both DC'd and the killer proceeded to farm with us and get us a +2
Ah, karma...

Sprint burst is more annoying especially if they use it early when they already have a lot of distance.
That's annoying for survs too if I'm honest.

Yeah it's still annoying though, we're expected to wait there for no reason and 0% chance of escape. So what is the point? Don't they want to go into the next game?
And I only included this example because it happened to my last game. But most times it's when they go to find hatch whilst I'm downed and then just stay at the closes hatch... They don't even come back for the hook they just stand there afk... Like why?
There is already an EGC timer. Enough for adrenaline or something like that to kick in. If not, you die in less than a minute.
I would like the hook to give you those 3 tries back when you're hooked at the end of the game. Yes, there is a 4% chance of escaping but still a chance and that's been taken away

Okay so im rank 3 and i get matched whit red ranks
What am I supossed to do if all 4 survivors know how to loop, they know the map the strong pallets the strong tiles etc and all of them are working on different gens, and when i get into a chase it doesnt matter how fast i down the surv (which is pretty damn impossible cause they never run into unsafe pallets or dead zones) im chasing gens f fly.
I really want to know what am i supossed to do?
Take the L and see what you could do better next time. Don't dwell on what was bad and focus on trying something different next time.
I don't mean it in a rude or bad way.
I go up against rank 1's that I don't know how to loop and die pretty quickly but I just think of ways I could have played differently and try to incorporate it in the next game.
All the best

I use it as my way of saying "gg" in game as I don't know whether I will have the option or not after the match.

Just generally curious as to who plays DBD competively, and who likes to chill basically. Back when I was a noob I used to be pretty chill with it, but I wanted to aim at becoming better. Once I finally got a little bit better at playing survivor and killer I kinda started taking the game pretty seriously, which in turn kinda lead me to getting tilted a lot and being a tryhard at the game. But ever since I've gotten loads better at both survivor and killer and at not letting my saltiness get the best of me, and realized that playing DBD competively isn't good for your mental health. Which is why I like to run no gen defense/slowdown perks on killers, because running those perks getting very boring after a while. I basically look at all killers, and decide what perks benefit them the most. For example a build I like running on DeathSlinger is Nurses, Monitor, STBFL, and Brutal. I can win with this build on DeathSlinger at times, but will occasionally lose since gen speed and playing a slow killer. But with losing I basically shrug it off because I will accept that I lost, although there is times where the game does mess me over. I don't play to be the best, I just play to have fun. Which will always be the #1 rule of video gaming.
I'd like to say I play chilled. Sometimes I get tilted if I find a slugger and we're all down crawling 3 minutes in and other times I laugh my ass off in the same situation.

Why do some survivors (usually swf) like to proclaim victory if they get the pity hatch? If hatch spawns and there are still gens that's a loss whether you get hatch or not you still got outplayed and the game gave a pity mechanic.
I get so many people who get the hatch and proceed to boast of winning or mocking me, you only escape because I'm too lazy to play tag for 4k.
That's very rude. I wish I could thank everyone that has given me hatch.
It's not a win if I get carried to it and I am glad because I would have died otherwise.
Either way, I don't send messages if it's not to say something nice.
If it makes you feel better, I am thankful if I ever came across you and I offer my self to be hooked when killers pitty me and help me farm as I would've been dead if it wasn't because they chose to be friendly.

This is the silliest statement I've read in a long time. How exactly would Killers abuse it? The Killer doesn't make DC. In fact, there is already a ban for DC'ing, which gets bigger each time you do it within a certain timeframe. Did you MEAN to say Suicide?
Yes, I meant suiciding on hook. I meant to say it gives you a -1 just like DC'ing and killers would abuse it the same way.
But to say that is the silliest thing you read in a long time is just rude to say the least and you didn't deserve a reply.
Have a good day

Gracias.

And I am rank 1 killer, so I shouldn't get survivors that don't loop even once
MMR is ON
I'll say from my experience, there are certain killers I come across that scare me so much I forget how to even run! Let alone try to loop them.
I recently matched up against a P3 pyramid head on Ormon and I ran towards a ######### corner! I realised the silliness of it and just gave up and stood still accepting my destiny. Two other teammate were dead and I'd been hooked twice.
To my surprise, PH noticed and let me finish gens and go.

every game when something doesn't go someone's way they will just suicide on the hook 2 mins in. then everyone else starts giving up. i asked these people why they did it and some of the answers i got were "broken killer" or someone did it because they got hooked in the basement. it's extremely petty and the fact people can get away with it because there's no penalty just makes it worse.
i only reinstalled a few games ago and i'm so tempted to uninstall again.. people like this just ruin the game for me.
The problem with banning survivors for DC'ing is that killers would use and abuse the hell out of it.
They ready get a -1 and a temporary ban and I think that's enough.
I've played against survivors that DC because they don't like the killer, the map or the way things are going and sometimes, the killer takes potty and helps farming but other times they don't and that's life. It's not their fault, it isn't yours.
Try to make the best of it when it happens

So last night I was strictly playing as Adam. I use Autodidact so I like to heal survivors as much as I can to get 5 stacks, as we all know 5 stacks of Autodidact is extremely beneficial to the team. So I’d heal people and then they’d just run off and leave me injured. I use Iron Will, but do they not see my injured indicator? See my blood spilling on the floor? See me limping towards their hook? I just don’t understand how they don’t realise I also need healing lol.
I normally wouldn’t think much of it, but it was happening all night last night. I’d heal a survivor and then crouch waiting to be healed back but they’d run to the other side of the map.
I could understand more if I was with low rank survivors but these were purple / red. Surely at that rank you know when somebody is injured, even with Iron Will.
I had quite the opposite recently. They wouldn't let me heal them and I have we'll make it through to heal faster after unhooking but they'd just run away

I am fine with you slugging for the 4k as far as you don't do it at the very beginning. Let me be chased, do gens, get hooked, unhooked at least once and then slug all 4.
When I found a killer slugging is as soon as the game starts and it sucks.
I usually don't care if I live or die in a game (unless I have to escape with certain character for a reason) as far as I have managed to do points or the killer hasn't been a toxic piece of poop for no reason.

Which one is that one?
I had one where I have to open hatch with a key twice and after 15 matches running Ace's perk to get cool things, I couldn't find one bloody key.
I decided to bring one in and got tunneled and camped from the very beginning to then get a pm saying: nice key or something like that from the killer 😂
I explained I knew what I was risking but I was giving up lol, it's just crap because I can't move on without that and have been playing the last 3 days without any missions because of it.

That's because it's common decency
There's nothing wrong with slugging for the 4k and theres nothing wrong with trading hook for the 4man.
Apparently being slugged isn't fun but it gives you more chance at survival (or trading places with the final person). At endgame when doing this as well killers tend to forget about perks like unbreakable and stuff. I've been slugged for the 4k multiple times as a no mither before, a couple of the times I managed to do last gen and get us both out
Oh, that reminded me of the one game I won with no mither. I don't use it because I am crap at looping and hate being one hit away from death but I had to for a mission.
We had piggy and one had been killed already. One gen left, I finish it and she slugs all three of us, got up when she was hooking the first, got the second one out and I went to open the door while the second one went to unhook the first one. We all three came out and I don't even know how we managed lol. I'd forgotten I could get up on my own.

It's crazy too because they just added those hatch offerings... Like keys weren't bad enough they had to make an offering to almost guarantee the location of the hatch spawn.

-
I recently played against a Freddy in autohaven and he killed 2 team mates SO quick it actually got scary. And he didn't even camp or anything, he was just so damn good...
Anyway, he downs the 3rd surv and starts looking for me. I run around the map doing a full round and get the surv back up. Freddie comes back, downs him again and starts running after me. I lose him, go around and get the surv back up I think 3 or 4 times until he actually gets me.
I'm thinking: I've wasted so much of his time he is going to hit me in hook or something but instead, he picks me up, drops me and signals to a gen so I wiggle out, get the other surv back up again fully and we start farming points. Bear in mind we had like 2 gens done when he killed the other 2 and the rest of the match had been me running around to lose him lol so nothing had been done since.
I would have been dead if he wanted to and offered to sacrifice but he chose not to and signaled to leave.
It was so cool because he showed he had the power and knowledge to f us all up and made me feel like he changed his mind after the little game he and I had.
Unfortunately it was crossplay and couldn't thank him but THANK YOU, FREDDIE!

As a survivor main, there is nothing more infuriating than carrying the team, only to die on first hook because someone is hiding by hatch. I cannot imagine the frustration of the killer, when people escape via hatch with a generator left.
Could a hatch progress bar work? You need to contribute x amount of work inorder for the hatch to spawn. Say 80% of work load (gens and totems) have to be done or hatch won't spawn. The exception would be last survivor... the hunt for hatch can be fun.
Just an idea, which kinda nerfs keys.
But that wouldn't fully fix your issue. You would still die if the other person has done 80% and find the hatch and you would still die on first hook. The only difference would be that you would know that that person did something...
I'll be honest, if I've been playing decently all game, unhooking, doing gens, totems and chases and I get hooked for the first time when there is only one more left and I see them crouching and getting up asking me to die so they get hatch, I try to make it as long as I can. That bastard is not coming to me on my first hook just because they found the hatch?

It really all depends on how I'm feeling. I'll say I definitely run some non meta perks just because it's fun to see them work. stake out, after care, better together, any means, empathy, Quick and Quiet, and underrated perks like that are fun. also, no. I don't run DS cause it's getting nerfed to high hell, and you can only really use it once. I'd rather have perks that prevent me from being downed than a perk that'll save me last minute and just make the killer angry
Thank, very very helpful.

DBD wasn't like this before. Sure you'd get the occasional salty camper but now it's rare to find a game where the killer actually plays too and doesn't just sit on the first survivor they find hoping the other survivors will perform unsafe hook rescues instead of gen rushing and leaving. Boring boring boring.
I think what's happening is the result of a previous match.
Survivors being toxic to killers because the previous match was a try hard and then they piss off this other killer who then goes on to be toxic on another match and creates and endless loop.
The amount of times killers have been a try hard and slug everyone in the first two minutes because they saw serpentines as offering.
It'sike: you also earn points from this so let's try to play normal. I don't want you to not kill me but, come on, slug 4 with 5 gens because of that offering?
Are serpentines considered a bad thing?

It all depends for me. I had one game where one survivor was doing reallllly well during a chase and was making it very hard for me to get a hit and I had to stop chasing them. Unfortunately for that person they had potatoes for teammates who barely did any gens and went down super easy. I let the person who did well against me get the hatch out to show respect to them. If I have a wholesome moment with a survivor during a trial I'll also let them escape. However, if I notice people trying to be toxic or being a detriment to their team and they're last alive sorry but you aren't getting out.
That is rare so please don't stop.
I've seen multiple games where I have been the potato and see the last survivor that has been running the killer around and they just kill them on first hook at the end of the game out of despite.
I've also been the last one standing and saved teammates fr hook, etc, escaped chases and survived to get a lugged in front of hatch, being teased with it, have it closed in my face and hooked (and then I thin, oh, if I had unbreakable then lol)
-
What about when someone DC's or loses connection while loading the match? It depips everyone that went in.
I've got screenshot if it helps. But it basically counts as a match with 0 points on everything and it's a pain.

THE PROBLEM: From both my personal experience and the consensus of people I see streaming or in chat on streams, Rapid Flashlight clicking goes hand-in-hand with "Toxic" behavior. It is used to annoy/irritate people playing killers. Which, doesn't exactly promote a fun game when your intention is to irritate. People get 3rd party programs to "Strobe" with their button just to do this.
I'm not talking about the function of Flashlights, I don't mind if someone gets the save. I'm talking about using it simply to annoy or rub in how much they are beating you, like tea-bagging or moonwalking in front of the killer.
THE PROPOSAL: Each time the flashlight is activated, a set amount of battery is drained as a minimum.
For example: If you set the minimum battery drain to 1 second, then they are incentivized to keep the battery on for at least 1 second per activation otherwise they are wasting battery life.
This would help eliminate this particular toxic behavior and encourage flashlights to be used as intended.
In closing, I think player Toxicity is the biggest problem in this game. Not the bugs, not the devs, not the balance. It's how the players treat other players. I don't know how much post-game reports get followed through on, but I make them. And now that I've thought of at least ONE pro-active way to discourage a certain type of behavior that OFTEN goes hand in hand with people trash-talking and belittling people, well...I thought I'd submit the idea. Thanks for reading.
There is a thread about flashlight from one player with epilepsy mentioning the toxic clicking caused him episodes.

I wish I knew that the hatch makes a sound as well as emanating black smoke.
So many times I ran past it and/or didn't approach it thinking it was a bad thing.
I wish I played as a killer a lot earlier in the game too as I would run for my life everytime I heard the terror radius and most times I was just exposing myself when I hadn't been seen.
Also, urban evasion is underrated imo. There are so many killers that are too focused on scratch marks when breaking a gen that don't see you if you crouch and move around a stone.
Don't start on the first gen you spawn next to, chances are the killer is going to look there first.
Always check for iron maiden, ruin at the beginning.
If a hex totem was easy to find, it's most likely the one that gives you vulnerability (if unsure, take it off at the beginning too).

Now I'm not complaining but I kid you not 4 gens were done in three minutes, and as Wraith that's hard asf to cope with.
Ngl I've seen that before playing solo and see 3 gens pop almost instantly. I automatically start running looking for the killer to make sure they're not being abused or anything and they get a hook and alway, always I either get unhooked in front of the killer (not a camping one, one that has left and chased another surv) or die on that first hook.
Not complaining, just an observation on a "tactic" I've seen a lot.

Again; the Survivors would just stay far enough away that a chase does not start, but be visible to the Killer, forcing the Killer to camp.
If the Killer goes after Survivor #1, then #2 goes for the unhook. If the Killer doubles back before the chase starts to stop #2 from unhooking, #2 goes back to standing far enough away so that the Killer registers as 'camping' in the game. So does #1.
During all this, #3 is doing gens, while #4 is immune to dying because the game thinks the Killer is 'camping'.
This has been tired. It was abused to hell.
And that's a great example of how people will always exploit and try to take advantage of a situation.
It's a shame, really. I didn't know it had been trialed and failed before so thank you.
Seems like what we have now is the best of the worst case.
I'd like to add that all the survs that complain when killers camp (I know I have but during a match and at my TV not on game chat or anything like that) I understand you killers, I do not support you but I see where the anger comes from. I've seen survs taking the absolute piss of you when you had been playing fair and then they complain they get camped or tunneled. Easy fix: don't be a d**k

I rather face a camper than not play.
If u do that, killers will just not play and this game will die.
If u want this game to continue, u need to leave killers alone.
The devs are not gonna play killer to help survivor queue. Even the mods are survivor mains.
But camping isn't really playing, is it?
There is one chase all game, maybe 2, no breaking pallets, gens, etc; no points for finding survs, pression, and 4 gens done by the time the hooked guy dies.
And don't forget you won't win either. You'll be lucky if you get 0

Camping is a failure of the Survivors to lure & occupy the Killer away from the hooked person.
That's not entirely true. There are campers that don't leave. I found one at cold wind yesterday that hooked a survivor in the basement (shack) and stood at the entrance door pointing the harpoon at the window.
I was doing a gen nearby and saw a Nea coming to the rescue so I got ready for Nea to take the killer away and go down to unhook. The killer just wouldn't budge. Only hit Nea when she got close enough but that was it.
She healed, I tried distracting him and would not move off the door frame.
There was nothing we could do so we had to leave the Dwight down there and hope he didn't suicide to give us time.
