I'd love for Freddy to have a cosmetic. He's so sad character-design wise. He's just a small man in a striped sweater with a fedora.
-
Done both, I'm very curious to see the results !
(Made me realize I should use more chase perks, haha...)
-
I remember when you could see a madman with a chainsaw soar through the skies and down you on your escape run.

NGL, I was pretty much on the verge of tears during the match, I was just that frustrated. I know, I know tough skin and all that, but being autistic makes dealing with slight annoyances ten times more difficult than it needs to be sometimes. But yeah, getting up and walking away was probably the best thing to do at the time for both of us. Unfortunately, I was unlucky in the EGC, because all of them had the "escaped" icon next to them. It's a shame they didn't try to come and find me to t-bag my face and screw themselves over, but oh well. Adapt and move on I suppose.
I'm a budding Trickster main, in case my pfp didn't give it away XD, I can't help it, I'm a sucker for the insane artist trope. Ahem, anyway, I'm also stockpiling points into Legion atm, because I was watching Ortz play him (them?) a few nights ago and Legion seemed like a pretty fun killer to play. And it just seems like a good strategy to have some points dumped into another killer, in case you want to try someone different. Also just having teachable on hand just seems like a good strategy even if they're just low tiers. Looks like I'll keep adding points into Legion, I'm really close to prestiging Trickster to get his tier one perks for my other killers. So that'll be fun, then I'll start dumping perks into Billy and maybe Bubba when the DLC goes on sale again.
Screw tough skin ! You're allowed to feel hurt when people are being ######## to you. It's natural. You're not any less valid as a player, whatever other people on this forum or elsewhere might say. Games are supposed to be fun.
I wasn't sure about your pfp haha !
You should absolutely try out Legion ! I've been maining them for a few months now, and they're a joy to play. Their add-ons are very varied and lead to different styles of gameplay. My favorites are the Pills and Sketch Mural, that makes your frenzy last very long and make you go faster every time you hit someone. On smaller maps like Dead Dawg saloon, it's really fun to play ! :D
But you also have a lot of status effects you can apply, and changing your chase music with tapes is really fun as well.
(People don't tend to like Legion a lot though, so fair warning : you'll probably have people DCing or giving up on hook sometimes)

I must have just been really unlucky to encounter this group because they were just being pains in the asses the entire game. A three-man at the very least. Because they all had flashlights, they all swarmed me while I was trying to hook. Like maybe they also got lucky to encounter a newly minted IV Bronze killer, aka me. But man I have never been so frustrated as I was in that match, normally I can let flashlight saves go, but idk, it was just not fun no matter how hard I tried to face a wall or look at the ground they always somehow managed to stun me before the animation was finished or body-block the hook.
As I said, I don't hate flashlights as much as I seem to because I understand why they're there. And as survivor I don't fun them because I suck at doing saves.
I think I'll follow your and others' advice, and just prestige Billy and get his perks, can't say no to more gen slowdown perks.
I understand, believe me. The first time I went against such a group, I actually went to face a corner of the map and got myself a coffee, because I was so frustrated (and a little hurt, not gonna lie) not to be able to hook anyone. When I came back, apparently two of them had died to EGC, by remorse of because they were tea bagging at the gate, I don't know.
I don't know which killer you play or own, but if you want to get prepared to face such squads in the future, you can think to get Legion with shards. For once, Discordance lets you see which gens are being plowed by several survivors. It's a very good perk in this meta.
But mostly, Mad Grit. If you feel like the lobby is a swf, they're generally very altruistic and will try to swarm hooks, but Mad Grit makes it so that you don't have a cool down on your missed attacks when you carry someone, and any time you hit someone while carrying a survivor, the carried survivor can't wiggle for 4 seconds. Survivors tend to not know this perk and you wouldn't believe how many downs I've gotten because they're like "surely one more hit and they'll wiggle out".
-
If I have fun, I count that as a win. (Pips don't hurt either, but fun mostly)
Got a 3k last night with a dirty 3-gen, game lasted 25min and was primarily me patrolling without using my power (playing as Ghostface, one of the good loopers of the bunch was following me around to reveal me), so I count that as a win only in name. I was stressed the whole game, and I did not particularly have fun beating a group that was, and I admit it freely, much better than me at chases.
A few games before, I let 2 survivors go, because they wanted to meme around and I like being friendly. We had fun playing and I practiced skulking around finding good stalking spots on Garden of Joy. No stress and lots of fun. That felt much more like a win to me.
-
Bring back space Billy.
-
Most players don't know how to use flashlights well (I suck at saves, for example).
I get that they can be used to be an annoying little cockroach to the killer, but I wouldn't put a cooldown for the activation. Clicking is also a form of communication among survivors, just like spam crouching, and we already don't have many of those.
I personally prestiged Hillbilly very early when I started playing a couple of months ago, to get Lightborn, since I had bad experiences with flashlights. I suggest you might do the same ?
But it's very rare to find survivors that are so well-coordinated and determined to bully. In fact, most swfs you will encounter will be average at best, not much better than their solo counterparts.
-
I played from 7pm to 9.30pm (France, so EU servers), killer only (Ghostface, quite low skill) and my queues were ranging from 5 to 25 seconds, with a 25% incentive on survivor.

I remember I created once a post about being hold hostage as a Hag on a Garden of Joy map. What I'm trying to say...
The only moments when I got really angry and mad in this game, are the moments when I'm facing subtle cheaters or people that want to waste as much of my time as possible, want to waste my effort I put into this match, and people who's not playing the game, they just here to make you feel angry to the point that you don't wanna play.
To me, the exact intent of "hurting" the person behind the monitor is exactly what I see as a "toxic behaviour". And thankfully, they're all bannable.=)
To each their own :)
If toxicity is hurting the other person, then each player has their own limit as to what "hurts" them, and therefore their own definition of toxicity. Any objective definition of toxicity will then be interpreted, like we're all doing on this post.
I'm glad you've got a tough skin, keeping a clear head during games is essential and you must manage it well ! ^^

@SuzuKR said:
The only things that are toxic are things meant to be toxic. Hitting on hook? Well, is it because it’s a new player who thinks it will make the sacrifice faster? Not toxic. Is it someone doing it to try and piss off the hooked survivor? Toxic. Etc etc. Intent matters.
Exactly. Intent is everything.

I added "Hitting survivors on hooks" in not toxic.=) Thank you, I completely forgot about it.=)
Don't even think about any "offense" by your comment, you're completely free to express your thoughts!
I appreciate your opinion. =)
So you think any behaviour or acts to irritate or insult the other player should be considered as toxic behaviour?=)
Happy to have reminded you of it then haha !
I might be a silly emotional person, but I tend to try and remember that all players involved in the game are actual people who express themselves through their actions. I remember that when I have fun with a friendly bunch, and I remember that when I see people visibly trying to hurt my feelings.
You can generally tell if a player's intention is to insult you. There's layers to it all. A Wraith dinging his bell a couple of times in celebration after a down is cute. Him spending all 4 minutes of bleeding you out bing bonging above you is toxic. A survivor tea bagging a couple of times to take chase is good. A survivor tea bagging at the gate to humiliate you is toxic.
In my opinion, acts that are visibly made to insult the player are as toxic as hurtful endgame chat (which often can follow). They're made with the intention to hurt, sometimes to make DC. It fits the definition of toxicity that you found on Google, though it does not fit the definition you wrote afterwards.
That's how I see toxicity in the game, but I get that people can have different opinions about it :)
-
I'd love that, actually.
I'm not a big fan of classic horror games/movies, and generally I find the original killers much more interesting. Even Ghostface, I like DbD's Ghostface lore better than I do the original Ghostface(s).
I particularly love Hag, Legion, Artist... I think they're doing a great job of character design and I'm looking forward to new original chapters more than licensed ones.
-
I appreciate your effort to break down the behaviors of players, but I don't agree with all your points.
In your post, you put the definition of toxicity ("having a bad attitude or behaviour towards other players which hurts the community or the game itself"), and then in your 4 toxic points you reworked the definition as "any behavior or attitude breaking the rules of the game".
In my opinion (which might be wrong), excessive teabags or clicks, hitting on hook/nodding, can be considered toxic according to the definition you looked up. They're all behavior executed specifically with the intention to irritate or insult the other player, which (at least in my books) counts as "having a bad attitude towards other players".
Now, I personally am not that bothered by teabags and I've had honestly lovely chats with people who clicked or teabagged during the game. But I won't argue with someone who feels hurt or humiliated by such behaviors, which were done with this very purpose, if they call that toxic.
(Please do not take offense to this comment : I'm simply giving my thoughts on the subject, I don't mean to undermine or reduce what you're saying)

Camp by Daylight flows better.
-
I generally don't agree with the idea of a 5th perk slot, even for general perks as a lot of them find their place in perfectly nice builds.
Only a couple of perks in that list of general perks are in my opinion valid to be equipped in a 5th free perk slot :
Deerstalker, because it's literally just quality of life that doesn't really impact negatively on survivor's chances. I'd even argue that it could be basekit. (That way I could stop accidentally slugging people because I can't find them and their teammates are blind from Third Seal)
Shattered Hope, because no one would use it unless it's free.
Distressing is relatively harmless, so maybe that one as well. It would make a 5-perk-ISC Doctor though, which could be funny.
Insidious and Unrelenting I don't know. The first one would make camping that much more annoying to deal with, and the second is just. Too much quality of life to have for free, and actually would be more punishing for survivors.
But since so little perks would be able to be selected for that 5th perk slot, all killers would soon use one of these perks, and since people have managed for years without using Deerstalker, I'm guessing about half the average killers would have Shattered Hope and the other half Unrelenting, with at low mmr killers choosing Insidious a lot to camp discreetly.

Dunno about custom games.
Devs already said the last has to be standing when downed for it to count. Slug for 4K = the other has to get back up and then be downed again.
In game, being grabbed is treated as a down for all perks and score points and whatnot, so probably not.
It won’t matter if it’s 3E or 3K or any mix. The devs said last survivor in the trial is downed = Mori.
Dunno about the refund.
Thanks for clearing some stuff up ! Curious about the rest though
-
Literally any game against Artist. Her TR feels so quiet to me.
-
Current Ruin is still surprisingly okay on Legion, since Frenzy allows you to checks on everyone pretty often (or make them run to the edges of the map), mending forces 12 seconds of regression, and you have mobility to patrol by your totem between chains.
I've seen a few Ruin Legion recently and every time Ruin was a pretty big thorn in my team's side. I haven't tested it myself though.
-
I wouldn't mind solo queue improvements, and for them to finally put a freaking light in that Garden of Joy house. How much can a lightbulb cost, right ?
Though by their use of the word "feature" I'm guessing it will be a new mechanic, likely the basekit mori. Can't wait to ignore that :P
-
Oh I lobby dodge for sure. I'm learning a new killer with which I'm not that great yet, and the game puts me up against lobbys with Prestige 19 or 27 survivor mains (for contrast, when the 4:1 ratio is in place and there is no incentive/incentive on killer, I get lobbys with Prestige 4 max). Prestige doesn't equal skill but if you've invested that much in a character then you've played enough to acquire all those millions of bp.
The other day my teammates were Prestige 47 and 34 (my friend and I were Prestige 4 and 1), and I admire the killer (P5) that actually comitted to playing this game. Had a nice 4K, played just a bit dirty, but what else can you do ? Good for him !

Found this amazing concept video.
I saw that ! It looks really good !
I hadn't thought of pages as interactibles but that's a neat idea as well.

Nurse. If I lose sight of a survivor, I will always struggle to find them again, and Nurse looks down every 10 seconds because of fatigue, which makes her very unpleasant to play for me.

Just had a game on The Game where Shadow Step got me out of like 3 different chases without being hit. Was able to run around a corner, break LOS, and then no scratch marks or aura reading (Wraith with "All Seeing" purple) carried me to victory. Was great fun
Good job !
-
It really depends on the killer player, but Shadow Step works wonders against me. I have bad object permanence and if a survivor leaves my field of vision for any reason I usually need the scratch marks to find them again.
For example, Nurse looking down when in fatigue makes her pretty much unplayable for me, or at least, unenjoyable.

I mean, as long as it gets fixed.... :P

Ah, man - you're bringing me back by saying that you're currently learning Ghostie. At least you're learning him now that his addons have been reworked and buffed! He's so much fun and has some really good payoff. What kind of builds are you running on him? Want/need any advice or suggestions for him??
Oh I'd love any suggestions of builds or general advices on him ! I've been playing him for about two weeks and I'm loving it so far, but I don't get that much value from his power since there seems to be so much to do all the time ! I don't have much down time to get a good stalk going. (For context, I'm usually playing Legion so I'm used to being constantly chasing people around, and I started playing during the 6th anniversary)
I haven't yet messed with his rarer addons, right now I'm using brown faster shroud cooldown and 10 sec longer marked (I'm a rare item hoarder, so I don't often use rarer add ons than yellow... Now that he's Prestige 2 he has a comfortable reserve of add ons).
My current build on him is something like Nurse's Calling, Discordance, Overcharge and and Whispers. (Overcharge being my go-to slowdown and Whispers being interchangeable with other perks right now, I've been messing with Play With Your Food, I'm All Ears, Save the Best For Last, and Surveillance)
I know the basics of 99'ing stalks but I still blunder a bit when several people are in my field of vision, and I'm not 10/10 at mind games (though the undetectable greatly helps mid-chase).
For any build suggestions' purposes, my Ghostface has all tier 3 teachable of : Trapper, Wraith, Billy, Nurse, Huntress, Myers, Hag, Clown, Doctor, Legion, Pig, Artist and Spirit. (I don't own the other characters)
I've also been advised to watch some Esskay and SpookyLoopz to see how they play, so I'm doing that.
I'm eager to hear any advice :)
-
How funny would it be ? Really cool !
How fast would it get old ? Probably quite fast unfortunately :' )
(I mean I'm learning Ghostie at the moment so sure I'll participate !)
-
I hope that contributes to making BHVR realize they should maybe update their anticheat.
-
I had a dumb match against a Huntress on The Game.
My friend and I spawned next to a Bill who was walking weird, immediately hiding in a locker next to us. We walk a bit further away, towards killer, and as the Huntress hits our 4rth teammate we hear Bill spam-screaming and immediately, we think "Is he a hacker ? How is he spam screaming ? Is he going to start flying around soon ?"
So we played investigator and followed Bill around for like 5 minutes, going to the same gens as he, following him when he left gens, hiding near him to see how he was doing in chase... We essentially threw.
He was not hacking.
Huntress just had Iron Maiden and we forgot that it made survivors scream. He was just having fun going in and out of his locker.
He DC'd mid-game, probably from seeing he had dumb teammates walking like ducklings behind him.
-
I don't use Blast Mine as I don't have the perk unlocked, but I've seen it quite often recently as killer. I'll trust the users to judge if the perk was better before or after but I definitely got blinded more times since it changed (something like 3 times in one game as of my last game, with only one user) since I tend to kick gens a lot.
I don't really see the use of the perk unless for some cheeky Repressed Alliance play, since it doesn't bother me losing a few seconds in front of the gen.

Right, they are gonna deal with it right after buffing soloq and getting a better anti-cheat LMAO
Unfortunately, your words carry a lot of truth, my friend ! xD
-
I think they meant that there were a lot of Nemesis players for quite a while, not that your statistics were wrong :)
-
Once the auto DH hacks are dealt with, the perk is fine and I wouldn't mind if it was very popular once more.
-
I'm not sure who is more popular. Wesker's release was not long ago. Let's give it a few months to see who is more popular.
Around the release, I saw multiple Nemesi as people were getting into the RE hype, but I used to see quite a few of them this summer as well.
-
I had a similar experience a couple of days ago where Feng, last survivor of a Ghostface game on Dead Dawg, tried to greed a heal 2 meters from hatch to get some last minute points.
I have Nurse's Calling.
I was shrouded.
Easiest down and closed hatch of my life !
-
Not my jam but I'd like to see more inhuman/beastly killers the kind of Dredge or Demo (or even Hag, that lady is FERAL), so why not !
Personally waiting for a Werewolf chapter, I wouldn't care if they'd be the lowest D tier of the game, if I can play a doggo, I'll play the doggo
-
Hag, Billy, Twins, Spirit, Blight, Plague, Pig
-
I've barely seen more than a couple since the update. So much for the fabled end of camping haha.
-
Rarely have any good survivor games on it. Rarely have any good killer games either. Very average in my opinion.
-
Please. I joined during the anniversary, had bloodpoints codes before doing my first games, and this is literally the first thing I noticed in DbD.
-
I didn't know you could erase Artist's crows with flashlight, so I'd run around to shake them off with my off-comms swf running after me and clicking.
I also didn't know that Blindness prevented survivors from seeing their hooked/downed teammates and thought I was getting crazy unaltruistic teams when I started playing Hag with Third Seal on.
-
I agree that those stats don't say much. They are much too agregated.
The devs have actually said that they do have extremely detailed interactive stats spreadsheets, adjusted by mmr and character and all things nice, but that all that would be way too complicated to release in an easy to read format such as their typical communication.
Hence : the agregated mess :)
-
Never tickle an AFK Insidious, noted.
For the perfect bot cosplay, you should maybe hit the air regularly. That does open the risk of survivors farming you though.
Mh... Still too many parameters ! AFK strats take a surprising amount of planification ! :D
-
If you do get them sometimes, screenshot your positive postgame chats.
I've had cute conversations with survivors/killers on many occasions and I find that keeping a little token of positivity helps forget about the toxic postgame chats.
-
Can't say I have been sent too much on The Game lately.
I've been learning Ghostface and the Entity thinks it's funny to send me to Eyrie every other game. And to Coldwind the other times !
-
Maybe at higher mmr the map is a problem, but I've never had too much trouble killing on this map and most killers I encounter know how to make the best of it.
I'm not arguing that it's a balanced map, but it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
Definitely not mass-DC worthy in my opinion.
-
How am I going to meme with survivors called "Nod for Bang" or "Don't touch me" then ? D:
More seriously, I like being able to check survivors' steam profiles before the game starts. Matchmaking being how it is, it's allowed me to dodge more than a few games with guys with 3k hours when I barely have 200.
-
Sorry your games are going badly. I actually think Blast Mine is hilarious and if I got hit by it 7 times in one match, I'd honestly be extremely impressed.
My record is currently 3 Blast Mines and 2 Red Herrings from, if I remember well, the same survivor. I was giggling by the end of the match.
-
I would love seeing more blighted skins !
