It does more harm than good.
Everybody takes those stats far too seriously and starts fights over them.
So they provoke discussion? Isn't that exactly what forums are for? Just because people disagree with each other doesn't mean it's a bad thing.
I personally think kill stats are useful, Overall killrates are just raw numbers and a bit skewed becUse they dont include DCs etc. But the recent individual killer rates give a good impression of game balance and how good individual killers are. Like helping dispel the sadako is bad myth when her killrates are actually among the highest.
-
A lot of killers can counter this. Oni, demo, blight, ranged killers nurse pf course. And for M1 Killers you can run perks like enduring and brutal strength to counterplay by forcing them to pallet stun you and minimising their gain for doing so.
-
I usually get on pretty well when i play nice. I'll basically run the game as normal until it's clear I'm going to win. I'll try to avoid tunneling and facecamping unless it's really necessary.
As long as survs aren't toxic towards me. I'll usually let one or two go. People tend not to teabag you when you down them at exit gate and deliberately let them wiggle out. Or if you puck them up carry them to a hook and just shake your head. Like show them you could easily kill them but won't and they usually chill out.

aha funnily enough, blight can pluto on the actual tree branches on that map, because they are just low enough for his head to touch them but have not collision.
I do like eyrie for it's counter play to blight/hillbilly. If you play ut right you can force the killer to run off the edge of the walkways in the main building. Great for juicing a bit of time out of a chase.

I know its hard role to play, you have to deal not only with a killer, but 3 other guys who may not be as usefull as should... but
I play mostly killers. Im quite mercifull (unless doing challange). Im trying to hook someone 2 times before start killing, and even this is rare, mostly i let survs escape after some intense game and chases. Sometimes i lost track of hook count and sacrifice someone unintentionally (I just realize that iri memento mori is best tool to track survs hook count... if i can do mori with it, it means that person is on its last hook... this information should be available to all killers.
But sometimes survs are just bad... and its nothing wrong to be bad, its time to learn and play. I hooked everyone of them twice, and because i had challange i had to kill them all, better - this would lower their mmr and let them play with some worse killers. I let them finish 2 gens before first kill, and another one before rampage.
A the end screen, when I said "gg", they said: "i hate you killer" and this made me sad :(
People who lose will very often be salty. Just best to ignore it. Being on xbox I don't see the end game chat so I don't really ever see the salt. Unless an xbox player decides to pm me.
One thing i would say is that lower mmr for the survs is not a good thing. A bad killer will usually shred a bad squad of survivors very easily. Low mmr mean other low mmr survivors and in asymmetric multiplayer that is going to ruin the balance.

Survivor: Distortion, it's SUCH a good perk, especially after its rework. I love it so much and use it chronically now xD
Killer: Snitch-crows! Forget about Whispers/I'm All Ears/Stridor, Spies from the Shadows works so well at every point in the game!
Spies is so good. I've heard some people say it's bad and I'm like what? It's an amazing perk
And makes it almost impossible to properly shake the killer if you are unaware of it.
-
For survivor: iron will. I run it alongside quick and quiet and it's amazing how often you can escape chase into lockers after a pallet stun. It's just generally useful too because as killer I verrry often catch out survivors because I hear their grunts of pain.
For killer: hex retribution. I loove running it on my deathslinger hex meme build. Haunted ground, devour hope and either third seal or ruin. It's obvs a pretty naff perk on it's own, but it's good for punishing survs for removing your hexes. And if you getvlucky and get haunted ground and retirbution on the same trigger? Chef's kiss. Nothing like 2 easy one hit downs in quick succession.
-
I haven't played as him. But in my survivor experience he is incredibly terrain dependant. In open ground he will shred you pretty quick with those knives of his. But if you can find a decent loop you can juice so much extra chase time out of him to let others gens.
I find a lot of trickster players are reluctant to try and M1 with him. So they rely on the knives to hard and waste time trying to hit you through vaults or around loops. Which is easily avoidedable once you getvused to it. But he is super frustrating to play against if you aren't good at using terrain.
Side note i find tricksters are often the most salty killers and I've seen a fair few ragequit or refuse to attack survivors after a while.
-
I'd be down with that. I love playing demo on meat plant. Portalling about and ambushing fools. Shredding pallets.
-
WOuld love to see VC implemented, it would make solo q so much more viable because currently it is an absolute shitshow

Doctor is a noob stomper in a sense, so new players usually are the ones complaining about him.
Imo Doctor has the best killer design in the game, anti loop, tracking and slowdown all in the same kit. Too bad good design gets outclassed by killers that ignore core mechanics or move at speed of light.
Agree with this, the Doc is easy to use and can mess up a team who isn't amazing at running chases because he can find survivors so easily. And he is good at messing with gen progression.
At higher MMR he's a bit harder to use but still fairly strong.

if anyone doesn't know you cant hook a survivor using boil over on the upstairs of main building on eyrie of crows. The walking paths are too long and the drop down wiggle progresseion makes dropping not an option. The only solution I have is slugging to death which is boring, especially in a 4 man swf using this tactic. Just wondering if anyone else thinks this is an exploit and how to fix it. More hooks on the upstairs of the main building, maybe 4 total could work. or removing the fall wiggle progresses on boil over, I get wanting a new meta but that part of the perk makes it unfun when this happens. Wondering if anyone else has any more strategies any killer can use right now besides slugging when survivors want to do this
Boil over isn't an issue on eyrie. Not in the slightest, idk where you even get that from. There is a hook on the top floor and one near the corner which is easy to get to. Boil over is more of an issue on midwich/rpd and not enough to be broken or considered an exploit.
-
I'll usually just wander about smashing destructible walls/dropped pallets for a bit more BP or spamming powers like demo's portals or firing crows with artist. Usually survs do his just to teabag at the end of a match so I don't indulge them. Unless I'm using death slinger, I've pulled a couple of toxic survs back into the map with the gun lol.
-
I usually let last surv go if I'm killer. Like maybe 80-90% of my potential 4ks I do this. I just find 4ks a bit boring and that 4th kill doesn't usually gain me much, whereas a surv it's almost 25% of their total potential score. Only times I don't are if it's for a challenge, adept or the surv has been super toxic/hid all game with no hooks.
-
Yh some people take this game too seriously. But I find that most of my interactions with other players in DMs is pretty positive π
-
Absolutely ######### removing maps. This game is samey enough as it is. We need more realms not less.

if you're making an entire thread based around the fact that you dislike one killer or survivor, it just doesn't seem like a healthy or productive activity. if you focus constantly on why it's so awful to play against one specific character, you're never gonna have fun because you'll always be angry about said character.
the way i see it, if you don't like a character THAT much, learn their perks, learn their builds, and learn what you can do to counter them! learn the popular playstyles of the killer and learn how most effectively to beat them!
if you're just complaining and saying "oh this killer is so awful and boring" it just kind of creates this weird space of negativity where everyone just dumps out stuff that really isn't productive.
and in the first place you could've spent more time just, i dunno, playing the game instead of complaining about something you don't like.
this isn't to say that you can't have complaints about characters or post about them, but at least keep an open mind and don't just instantly bash anything you don't like.
but on the OTHER hand, if you go in a killer hate thread or survivor hate thread guns blazing and acting like you're a victim because other people don't like something, you aren't creating helpful discource.
all you accomplish is fighting people on an internet forum, and making their hate of the character worse.
please, just use your brain on the internet. the rampant negativity is honestly really disheartening, please just try your best to enjoy things for once
- your favorite least favorite killer main, dgbug
I mean that is literally what forums are for. Feedback on the game, positive or negative. People want to voice their opinion and this is the place to do it.
-
I'll maybe get it with shards. But the killer and surv are pretty uninteresting to me. Backstory is kinda cool but gameplay looks tedious with the knight.
-
Just salty little goblins. I do personally hate playing a good nurse, but I won't treat them to this kind of unnecessary toxicity. Just suicide on hook or locker hop to get hatch.
-
I run my meme hex build on deathslinger. Hexes: devour hope, haunted ground, retribution and I flip flob between third seal and ruin for 4th slot.
I just love the aura reveal/exposed combo for ranged killers.
-
Some killers are just gonna play like that anyway. Tbh as killer I'm more likely to farm and stretch a game out if someone brings flan or streamers.

Inspired by Pixel Bush's recent statement and the response it got, but informed by a now long history of debate on this issue. People say that the new survivor is clearly tailored to be drooled over to the point of ignoring his actual history and origin in favor of modern fashions and so on, that Haddie's relative failure means BHVR is now entirely focused on making survivors that people want to have relations with, and that it has gone beyond the isolated environment of the spinoff to now infect the main game, destroying what little semblance of horror aesthetic is left. Also, characters like Claudette get outfits that don't at all fit their reserved personalities.
What do YOU think? Do you still want more daddy Ghostface, David, and revealing Kate skins? Or has it all gone all too far? Post your favorite Feng bikini cosmetic ideas as well.
I mean if people can sexualise plague... I don't think they even need to try. Rule 34 does the job lol.

Hiding from the killer is not what I'm talking about though.
Is it not? Seems to be.
-
It's not like it's a 3rd health state. You've gotta have good timing to use it and it's so easy for any semi competent killer to counter play. Unless surv is hacking auto dead hard, then it's broken but that's hackers for you.
-
Hiding, though frustrating and cowardly is a legitimate tactic. Pointing your team mate out to the killer however is not. Kinda sucks but hey the killer will certainly thank you. Someone did this for me while I was playing demo, I decided to let them go since they fed me lol.
-
Ah Franklin's frustrating for survivors and necessary for killers. It is fun when it messes with a bully squad π€£
-
I adapt my playstyle to the survivors. If the game is fairly chill with no gen rushing or excessive bodyblocking etc I'll usually be more relaxed.
If survs are sweating hard though, cranking through gens and going for every possible flashlight save I'll switch it up and tunnel someone out to slow them down. And if I'm at one gen left and no kills? Hell yh I'll facecamp someone, doesn't always work but I like to finish with at least one kill. But likewise i don't generally tend to 4k unless I'm sweating for pips/ challenges. I'll just let last surv get hatch or gate.
-
I think the reason people complain about wraith is that he is extremely punishing to new players and people who can't run chase to well.
He is effective and can pressure gens well with his movement speed while cloaked. But when he uncloaks all you gotta do is be near a pallet or vault and you can get distance on him to run a proper chase. A wraith will struggle against a team who really know what they're doing.

I donβt care about my grade and pips at all anymore.
BP donβt seem valuable to me anymore as I am playing way too much anyways and since the new system had all characters on P9 anyways.
I'm gonna be the same from now on. Hit iri 1 on surv and killer this month and it's just stressful. Every bad game annoyed me because I didn't want to lose pips.
From now on I'm just gonna play for jollies. Maybe spend a week tanking my killer MMR. I have to run sweaty builds every game or I get gen rushed in minutes.
-
Had this the other day with a nemesis. One of my mates had an internet outage and DCd. The nemmy then decided to slug all 3 of us at 5 gens. Messaged him after asking why he didn't just stretch the game out a bit. Bit more BP all round. More pips for him.
All I got was salt and insults lol.
-
My one takeaway from this thread is that everyone in this thread seems to hate playing against twins π€£
Personally fave killer to go against is ghostface, love the cat and mouse game, he really keeps you on your toes, and it's possible to counterplay him with reveals. Closely followed by demo, love playing against him too but hardly see him.
Hate seeing myers, nurse, plague and in particular trapper, because i always stumble into his traps π

I want the 4k. Where's the challenge in just settling for a 1-3k? Yeah, some games I get nobody at the end purely because I wanted to slug everyone for the 4k, but I had to at least try. This game is demoralizing for killer in how resigned y'all are to not even hope for the 4k anymore.
I mean nothing wrong with playing to win. But if aiming for a 4k means a stressful game and extreme frustration when you don't get it then that isn't enjoyable.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a challenge, I just have much more fun when I don't give a damn, and I'll often release last survivor. Like I'll chase them, down them, then carry them to hatch or exit gate and allow them to leave instead of hooking. I still outplayed them and they know it, but i just make the game a little more pleasant for everyone involved by giving them 7k bp for escaping and not losing any item they might have. Maybe I'll get a thankyou message.
Tbh hooking last surv doesnt really gain you much anyway with the devout emblem being bugged.
-
I mean freddy can teleport to gens. Doctor's pallets aren't as good they only cause mindgames where as freddies activelyslow the surv. Also something I've noticed, Doctor's fake pallet's auras do not show up on windows of opportunity. Freddy's ones do.
-
Anyone with anything useful to say?

Would be nice to know some details about the bug you're talking about?
It's not bugged afaik..
It is bugged. It's pretty much impossible to get iridescent.
-
I'm fine eith hooks being destroyed. If a killer tunnels someone out rapidly then the rest of the game is pretty much a forgone conclusion. I think there should be a way to shift the game balance as the game progresses. Make life easier for survs as others get sacrificed and easier for killer as more gens are done.
So far destroying hooks is the only thing that helps survivors if one of them dies.

ποΈ Who do you think the most balanced killer is? ποΈ
We all know there are a lot of variables that can change the way "balance" is defined. (maps, add-ons, items, perks at play etc.)
If we were to take out all the variables or RNG and gave both sides a fair playground: Who do you think the most balanced killer is? The one that is both fun to play as and play against? The one that the other killers could also be balanced around?
All opinions are welcome! πΉ
I'd say demo is the most balanced, his shred requires good timing and skill to hit, very satisfying when you cut across killer shack to hit someone going for the vault. Plus his portals require good planning to use.
His iridescent add ons are busted though. Seeing all auras when you portal is a little too strong.
-
I use boil over a lot and it doesn't really work for me very often, hardly ever struggle out. As killer it only gives me issues against well co ordinated SWFs. Or occasionally on indoor maps like midwich, meat plant and lery's.
-
If they do bring stranger things back, and I really hope they do. It would be a crime not to make new content, vecna would be an excellent killer and Eddie Munsen would be a cool surv.
-
I play on xbox regularly, my gamertag is same as my username on here. Drop me a line on xbox live and we can swf π
-
My best adive to enjoy killer? Don't give a ######### about the 4k. My worst game experience on dbd is sweating as killer for pips or 4k challenges/adepts. If you tryhard and 4k it's usually a snowball i.e. boring and if you get frustrated by a solid team it's super annoying. After this month I'm resolving to just not care about pips and rank.
The most fun I've had as killer has been BP farming and dropping my mmr. In a normal game I'll usually let last surv go, and it's generally a pretty wholesome interaction. And if I'm up against a bully squad that's clearlt out of my league I'll just let them get on with gens and just harass them a bit so they don't think I'm just giving up because they usually just spend ages BMing otherwise.
But yh short version, just focus on enjoying and utilising the killer's power and dont give a damn about the 4k or the pips.
-
Tbf i hate sweating as killer. Getting iridescent 1 this month then I'm going to give up on ranking and just tank my mmr and have more chill games.
Almost every game I play as survivor or killer feels pretty one sided. Either survivors smash gens/bully the killer for a 4 man escape. Or killer dominates and gets a 4k. Occasionally you'll see 2ks from a killer running NOED or facecamping in end game.
The ranking system in particular is set up that to progress in rank gold/iridescent you need to absolutely smash games repeatedly. So you get sweaty seal team 6 SWFs and killers that will do everything they can for a 4k. Which are never fun to play against.
I'd just love to see ranked and casual playlists. Ranked gives you the monthly ranking like we get atm. And casual doesn't plus maybe it awards a set BP amount for each game based on duration, so you can have a game where sweats will be less common because they gain no benefit from winning.
-
I usually do the mexican wave when I want an unhook.

Oh ok, sorry thought u were just saying to remove the penalty (which is the only thing stopping them attempting unhook multiple times) for unhooking.
But yeah, the extra coding would somehow break the game even further.
No worries. But yh they'd probably end up having to do patches to fix it π€£

The chance would have to be so small that its the same as a 4% 3 times.
And that's per attempt to unhook.
It takes 2.5s to attempt an unhook.
60s are available to attempt unhooks.
Therefore- 24 attempts back to back can be made in theory.
Therefore the success chance would have to be something like 0.5% chance per unhook and items and perks would have to be balanced around the fact you get more attempts (luck offerings/slippery meat).
I don't mean they should allow unlimited unhooks. Just that you still only get 3 attempts. It just doesn't progress you to stage 2 straight away

15-16 in Silver and Gold
You can only have 1 Gold Emblem with the rest being Iri in Gold Grade to get Merciless. You can't have 2 gold emblems in Gold Grade.
Oh right. Damn I'd better start sweating my games out then lol. Think i ended my chases too quickly to get iri lol.
