Title.
My memory might not be what it used to be, granted, but I don't remember the last time just asking you to stay in the match you queued up in a multiplayer game for was an unpopular thing to do. Not when the game was hilariously more broken, or more unfun, or when the REALLY stupid stuff wasn't fixed and everyone was pulling out 1 gen hatch escapes and old Ruindying or old Spirit or old Moris or anything like that.
I don't remember people having such a consensus it was their god-given right to suicide on hook the absolute moment something went slightly wrong for them. Or that asking them to not have the ability to circumvent the DC penalty that we ostensibly have for an actual reason is a breach of moral conduct.
I risk sounding a little bit heartless when I say this, but I really don't care if you stop having fun in the middle of the match. I honestly don't.
You queued up for a game of Dead by Daylight. You, apparently, know what you're playing. You know what to expect. You know what could go wrong. You may, even, have made peace with the fact that something you might not like could happen. Like, say, losing.
In this game with no backfills and DC penalties that we ostensibly have for an actual reason, I have the controversial opinion that, as an adult (hopefully), you should have the self-responsibility to know what you actually want to do and what you're okay with happening when you do things with other people.
If you don't, and you demand people open the door for you on the way out the millisecond something you don't like happens, you demonstrate that you have the self-governing skills of an actual child who can't be responsible for their own actions and doesn't care about how much of their own and everyone else's time they waste as long as they don't have to actually commit to something.
It's the 'ol shopping cart test. We apparently can't make you do anything at any sort of inconvenience to yourself unless we literally force you to.
Is this a long and silly and overly-serious rant about a video game that doesn't matter? Absolutely. But the mindset behind this silly and unimportant action is what crinkles my crundle. That you apparently can't and won't be responsible for yourself.
Anyway funny silly rant over.
That's a problem with gaming in general lol. Ever played overwatch? It's rare to get a match without a ragequit.
Definitely worse in dbd though. The frequency is much lower but since matches don't get backfilled all it takes is one survivor to DC and the entire game is a foregone conclusion.
Wish they'd back fill with bots, better for everyone involved. Killer gets more points and survivors don't lose a teammate. Besides the bots play much better than a lot of players 😏
-
Yeah nurse mains are insanely good at hitting blink strikes. It isn't easy to juke them, especially when you play on console.
Tbh i find stealth play is often best against nurse. I usually run distorion anyway but lockers are always handy to block aura reading.
And that only works well when you have comms or aura reading on the killer. Solo q teams get taken apart by any competent nurse because they can end chase so quickly.

Some streamers do be toxic for that kind of audience, yes. I don't watch those streamers. A couple streamers I do watch have had cases where they have done voice chat and had to stop doing it, end their stream, and delete their VOD due to someone coming in and saying racist things in their voice chat. Sure, you might not mind the occasional toxic chat, but for streamers who can literally get BANNED from Twitch for something beyond their control, and for many women (or those who play women in games) it's just not worth it to take the chance.
Wouldn't be a risk to streamers because every game with voice chat has the option to autoblock it.

A killer DCing counts as an escape, right? (I'm pretty sure it does as I've often benefited from it)
Any plan to put AI instead of a rage-quitter soon? (Assuming killing the AI would count as a kill)
Apparently killer DC inconsistently triggers adepts. And the bot back fill is a great idea. Gives killers the chance to still make it a kill and doesn't automatically throw the game for survs. Plus from my experience the bots are actually much better than a lot of the solo q players I've seen 🤣
-
Because it's a bit different, I love the aesthetics and the lore. I get bored with the standard fps multiplayer games. Dbd has a really cool creepy vibe, unique gameplay.
My interest is waning a little bit though, my regular swf are starting to drift away from the game. Solo q survivor is highly unpleasant to play by comparison and killer gets a little boring after a while if thats all you end up playing.
We have to wade through so many games of tunneling, facecamping killers stomping us or sub standard killers that we run rings around. To find one actual decent close run game.

It doesn't really impact my own Survivor games, but anecdotal experience aside, I think knocking the Incapacitated tiers down to 8/10/12s would be fair.
What do YOU think?

Good shout. The incapacitation is the teal problem with it. As it stands it's way too long. Dropping it to 10 secs max seems fair.
-
The most broken thing about this game imo is that we only get one playlist.
Killer side it's probably nurse and blight's powers. Demo's aura read and stealth iri add ons are just insane. It's just good you dont see many demo mains. Eruption sucks hard and mainly that it's too hard for anything but a coordinated swf to counter play hard tunneling/camping.
Survivor side it's probably gen perks like prove and hyperfocus stacking toolboxes etc. Gets gens done way too fast, but that's really just the meta atm isn't it? Survs do gens fast, killers get mad regression perks.
Saying this as a split survivor and killer player.

I mean the changes only matter for adept
You don't need to change anything about your playstyle if you aren't going for adept
That's kind of the issue though. A lot of people, myself included, like to achievement hunt. And tbh I get way more frustrated when I can't get an objective done than in a normal game. Now giving survs the power to press a button and stop you getting it is a bad idea.
Because now it's based not just on your skill, but other survs 's connections, bad conduct and deliberate spitefullness.
-
There's something to be said for other survivors taking the heat and committing to getting hooked. Tunneling is often a survival of the fittest thing. If the killer knows they can't catch one or two particular survs in chase within a reasonable timeframe, then why chase them when there is an easier target? Like are you going to voluntarily throw the game in the interests of being "fair"?
I remember one game as killer where I had a yun jin who was an utter nightmare to catch. I was chasing someone for death hook and the yun jin got in the door way for the protection hit. But instead of running away she stayed still and beckoned the second hit so I would get the down. Brought plenty of time for deathook to get away and clear.
I had maaaad respect for that play. Ended up deliberately letting her and deathook go at the end of the match.

Blindness is already worthless. A swf has communication and isn't affected at all and a non swf can still hard counter it simply by paying attention.
And if they're not paying attention enough to be able to work out where their teammates are hooked by the dirty great bubble that appears on the screen then they're probably not gonna put up much of a fight anyway.
Swfs are affected by blindness. Apart from main building and killer shack it's incredibly hard to make accurate verbal callouts on most maps. There's nothing really that gives the same advantage as an aura read. Plus it hard nerfs perks like windows.
"Paying attention" won't help you pin point a downed surv on the other side of the map. Sure awareness helps but again can't beat a good aura read.
-
Ngl I dodge sometimes as killer. If I'm going for a challenge that requires a 4k or if I'm using a dirt poor killer. If the prestiges are high and I'm seeing the usual warning signs, bright outfits, torches, feng/steve/nea.
But in the normal run of things I won't usually dodge. I have noticed that when I play with my friend, (100 prestige kate) we get a LOT of dodges and she often gets tunneled hard or ignored entirely. One of the 2.
Myself I won't deliberately tunnel out a high prestige surv but if I get in a chase and they are clearly a loop god I'll just not engage with them and go for easy hits when they unhook or i manage to ambush them

I can confirm that, like before, DCs will not count as kills towards Merciless Killer ratings.
Thanks for the answer. Doesn't this seem a bit unfair for those going for adepts though? Survivors DC quite regularly and it seems unfair to punish an achievemnt hunter for another players bad conduct/dodgy connection.

"But a killer that can teleport through walls and smack a surv with relative ease shouldn't be able to utilise exposed."
There are 9 exposed perks.
Of these 9, only Starstruck and NOED are really problematic with the nurse.
Devour hope is also very dangerous, but depending on the RNG, the totem can fall quickly.
As for the rest of the exposed perks, their usefulness is very relative and the effect can easily be countered.
But as eveybody has been complaining about for months starstruck nurse is one of the worst issues. And I think locking her out of other perks was a good idea. Jolt, franklins and sloppy are the big ones for me.
Her power is so insane in the right hands. That this is a good way to mitigate it and take a few synergies away from her. Because she ends chases so quick. It was either this or nerf her power which would either turn her into an awful killer or a simple m1.

Maybe I'm "weird". I don't know. Sure, the forums would have you believe that solo q is unplayable and absolute hell for everyone. While it's not without its frustrations, I just don't feel this way.
High mmr solo q is ok. Quite balanced games actually. But low/mid mmr solo q is absolute dog #########.
And if you start in low mmr soloq it's hard to climb out. I only was able to improve mine by running with a swf for months.

Agreed! Survivors only want to play against killers they can loop for 5 gens. We need 30 Pig clones in this game
Hardly. But a killer that can teleport through walls and smack a surv with relative ease shouldn't be able to utilise exposed.
Like I'm fine losing to a killer. But a sweaty nurse is insanely un fun to play against. I don't want to be able to loop every killer for 5 gens. But I want to at least run a chase that lasts more than 5 seconds.

Well I'd prefer definite clarification if anyone's experienced it yet.
Because if so that'll be a huge issue. Look how many people already ragequit the second they get downed. And the number of survs who will jump in lockers constantly they realise a myers is going for his 4 mori achievement.

Being inches away from death has unlock your true potential. While performing a rush action to leave a locker within 6 meters of the killer you gain a 9% increases in speed for a total of 10 seconds. Cause the exhausted status effect for 40/50/60
I like this. Cool Idea

NEW PATCH I DELETE GAME
no SWF NERFS
VOICE CHAT STILL BREAKS THE GAME
instead of nerfing swf voice comm they buff survs to be like swf voice comm - GREAT
why not just delete all killers from game.
now you can counter Eruption even with no SWF in solo q....same as 90% of killer perks now EZ to counter in soloq same as SWF do due to new patch....
ICON ON CHASE = get of gen Eruption example
WIGLE ICON = DMS get of gen....
so all Solo q now closer to SWF cheaters GREAT
i just delete game
ouh and new Wigle bully build buff i s Great Yeah 2 perks to bully with wigle + flashbang+ stun locker = so fun for Killer right
and about 2 min 3 gen pop ups i will not even talk
GG WP DBD
soon all killers will be bots
Quick question. How can they nerf voice comms?
The game itself does not support voice comms. It has to be done on discord/xbox live party/whatever chat function playstation uses. They can't do anything about those. Or apply any gameplay nerf that wouldn't also affect solo q.
-
I'll usually own up. Hell if I've used unpleasant tactics like slugging or tunneling to get an adept then I have a tendency of sending an apology message to other xbox players.
And I've definitely been known to face camp if I'm looking at a 0k otherwise. But they aren't things I make a regular habit of. And I do tend to let survs go in most games.

Definitely Demo's iri. Reading auras every time you portal? Insane. Makes the game so damn easy and it chews up distortion tokens.

It's no need to be defensive. It doesn't make sense to wipe memories of the trial because how would survivors know that flashlights, pallets, locker's,vaults, windows and doing generators are their means to escape ? Wouldn't they start each trial without knowing what's happening and some of them must have seen what happens to survivors and killers who give up, because knowing this is now your life why would you participate. Which brings me back to Teachables how would a survivor retain the knowledge of a teachable perk if the start over with blank slates?
Even if that's true their memories are wiped, that would be a flaw in the lore and not your logic.
Also the Entity is omnipotent and knows of The Observer and Benedict, who regularly try to find ways of escaping the realm,so why not wipe there memories so they can drop the notion altogether.
Plus memories conjure and stir emotions up,which is the entity's main source of food.
Ok I miscommunicated my point. My personal belief is that when a surv dies or is sacrificed in a trial. Then the memory of that particular trial is removed when the entity resurrects them.
This means that as far as the survivor knows, if they die, it's permanent. Otherwise they would know that even if they are caught and hooked and sacrificed then they will simply come back.

eh... maybe yes , maybe not, it all depends from the players that you have in your team (imagine 3 little brats who keep raging and shouting all the time in VC... painful and a nightmare to say the least imo... sure, there should be also an option to silence VC, but then you'll be stuck in the previous situation where VC wasn't implemented in the game). SWF that want bully the killer aren't so rare as you can think, at least in my personal case they are not... 7 of 10 matches i've people that try to be more annoying/toxic as possible (if they succeded or fail to do so are another story tho).
It's always going to be mixed experience. And of course mute options would be available. I'm not saying it'd be a catch all to fix everything about solo q but it would benefit a number of individual games and a lot of players would learn from it.
And any downsides would simply be a mute button away from not being a problem

I think you're right but one factor is incorrect, the souls of those who give up in trials are tossed to the void,as it has no more will are hope to feed the entity so I guess that would mean there memories are not wipe either because why give up if you are just born sort of say. Also as proof, you can see that everyone is probably aware of their situation because of teachables helping each other to survive or kill better.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/355234/entity-and-licensed-characters
There more like doppelganger's in a sense, the observer said in a tome that there are multiple dimensions and different plains of existence.Lets say earth one has a Jill that wears a blue shirt and Earth 2 has a Jill that wears a Red Shirt technically you could remove one Jill and Jill would still exist in a different Terra technically both Jill's can wear a blue shirt have the same battle with Nemesis, same birthmarks, eye color etc.but this wouldn't impact anything from the second world and we could be the 2nd world with Jill still alive to us
It's better to look at this in a time travel sense ,not sure what the theory is called? But the Entity can travel through time and pick up it's cattle throughout history, in our timeline it could, take Jill from a certain point in time before she defeats Nemesis. While doing so this only effects that timeline and creates a new stream, but since it already happened it doesn't effect that reality of the future where Jill has defeated Nemesis. If a piece is disrupted it doesn't change the future only it creates another stream and a different future where Jill is missing. It would also appear that there are rules as the entity only collects from the past as not to disturb the continuation of time.it's just multiple realities in the end.
And yes these people that the Entity has collected are missing from their respective dimensions. There has to be the right circumstances that allows the Entity to do this.I believe the entity offers them something and they agree and sometimes there might not be a choice, because they are happier there like Ghostface and Tarhos
I didn't mean their memories are wiped clean everytime. Just their memories of being in the trials.

That's my question... How good does the survivor need to play to get gens done and leave against a decent nurse? You will often face autowins on both sides... Because of matchamking putting together people that mastered a strong killer against weak survivors or playing a terrible map as a weak killer... What is important for me in that regard is if we match players of equal skill together is it somewhat balanced who wins... If yes it's fine and matchmaking is the only problem for not matching people properly... if not we need to rebalance... And I don't think that's the case... If it is possible at the highest skill level on both sides I don't think it is guaranteed to be unbalanced at lower skill levels...
So once again... Do you think the average survivor players can win against an average nurse, that gets juked by line of sight breaking and other stuff you can do about nurse...
Is there such thing as an average nurse though? I cannot remember ever having an even game involving a nurse. Either survs rofl stomp her because she can't hit blinks or she is dropping every surv in seconds.
She is really a one trick pony. And that trick is too effective, the whole point of the game for killer is get to surv and hit them as fast as possible. And a skilled nurse can do that extremely quickly.
Her power isn't that versatile and currently is very hard to counterplay effectively with the 2nd blink. I'm saying weaken it a bit and maybe buff her move speed so she can M1 a little more effective.
Give her one blink, and maybe something conditional around it, perhaps undetectable until she hits a surv or a base movement speed increase after getting a blink hit. Make the blink harder but reward her for it or make it easier to hit that.

Developers, please understand the lack of logic here.
Survivor Adept
- Escape the Trial with all three of the Survivor's personal perks.
- Escaping the Trial includes one of the following three available methods:
- Escape through the Exit Gate.
- Escape through the Hatch.
- Escape via Killer disconnection.
- Escaping does not include performing any action that progresses the game. This is trivial and easy to do since you don't need to do any Generators or unhook/heal Survivors to achieve this.
Killer Adept
- Get a Merciless Victory with all three of the Killer's personal perks.
- Getting a Merciless Victory includes performing all of the following actions:
- Hook all Survivors at least 9 times in the game.
- Chase and hit Survivors at least 15 times in the game total.
- Prevent Generators from progressing past a certain point or keep the Exit Gates from opening.
- Prevent a Survivor from escaping the Trial.
- Use your Power in an efficient and effective way.
- The following things will also ruin the ability to get Merciless Victory:
- Using any Power, Perk or Add-On that allows you to instantly down a Survivor.
- If any Survivor decides to disconnect from the Trial, especially if they have not been hooked.
Devs, please lower the Killer Adept to be Get a Brutal Victory with the Killer. It shouldn't take so much effort for Killers to get these achievements when Survivors have a piss easy time to achieve it.
It's completely unjustified how difficult this is compared to the Survivor adept and it should have been changed when these achievements first released.
Killer adepts are fine. It's a skill based achievement. And it's not taken me more than 4 games to get any one killers adept. You only need one game with a couple of suboptimal players and you can snowball.
You dont even need to 4k. I've pulled merciless a fair few times with 3k games. It's just a bit easier on the 13th because your rank is reset to ash and merciless requirements are lower as a result.

No one is casual in the casual modes in any other game
You'll have more people learning in casual, but people who want to to stomp will still stomp. Since there's barely anyone in the world who likes losing, you'll still have the majority of people in casuals trying to stomp their opposition.
It's unavoidable.
It will happen of course but not in 100% of games read the comment above yours, it hits the nail on the head.
In my experience of other pvp games, casual playlists are generally more enjoyable than ranked ones. The standard of play does tend to be lower and the games a little less fast paced. There's more breathing space.
And imo winning in dbd doesnt mean I have to 4k as killer. I almost always release the last 1 or 2 survivors. Now that I don't care about my monthly bp rank bonus, unless I'm sweating for an adept or the survs have been particularly obnoxious I won't 4k anymore.
If killer gets a 2 k because he gave the last 2 survs the nod, let them finish 2 or 3bgens and leave, or if killer downs last surv and carries them to hatch then did killer lose? No, they still proved they were better. They just forgo 1 or 2k bp so the surv can get 7k bp and maybe keep their item. But the current ranking system is a big incentive against doing that.

I don't know Overwatch, so that's why I might have been a bit off the mark in my observations haha.
But yeah, people. X)
I think a downvote would be an extremely bad idea, you're right. But what you're thinking of with upvotes would be really nice. I'd think to give more people thumbs up if it really did something. Sometimes I encounter really cool randoms, but don't even bother to leave the good remark since I know no one will even read them.
So at the end of a match in overwatch you can assign 2 endorsements to members of your team (who aren't on your friends list) when you get an endorsement it pops up and tells you which is quite nice. Nothing takes a sting out of a loss than rando teammates giving you a virtual thumbs up in recognition of you playing well.
You also have an endorsement level, which is determined by how many endorsements you recieve. It's visible in the postgame so a public display of how positively your teammates see you. And you get periodic battle pass exp based on your endorsement level.
It's a nice system and since dbd already has a button for it might as well make it mean something because as far as I can tell giving a player an upvote in the post game report system does precisely nothing.
-
@HugTheHag said:
I'd usually say that people who'll want to sweat and get easy wins would come haunt the casual mode, but if the rewards for ranked are sufficient (like you're offering) I guess that shouldn't be too much of a problem !
I'm not sure about the upvote system for the casual mode though : people just don't have the same scale of what deserves an upvote. I usually thumbs up the nice players who show good manners, not necessarily the best players I encounter. I know others thumbs up the players that are really good.
I would absolutely love for the thumbs up system to bring rewards. Punishing bad conduct is a must, but rewarding good behaviour would probably make people be less agressive.
Yh people are always the issue aren't they? Lol
tbh I'm thinking maybe something like the system I see in overwatch would be good. You accrue upvotes, and it gives you occasional in game rewards if your upvote level is high. Maybe iridescent shards, BP, the odd auric cell here and there. But in an ideal world would love to see exclusive "Good sport" cosmetics that mark players as considerate players.
But it's always an issue with antagonistic roles like killer survivor. Hence why I wouldn't add a downvote. A lot of players would just downvote anyone they lost against.

In theory I like the idea; let the sweatlords sweat together and let everyone else have fun in peace.
But. How would you stop the sweatlords from sweating in casual?
The only two points I can think of are the lesser rewards and it getting boring after a while. Both points aren't exactly strong. Many people don't even care about rewards, even less care beyond the point of them getting what they want (esp. cosmetics; sweat your butt off until you get the item you want, then go chill and stomp in casual again). And while a majority will find stomping all the time rather boring sooner or later, there are people who will have to suffer them in the mean time - not to mention that there are those who will never get bored of it.
The only way I can see a casual mode work is if a lot of control is taken away from the players. If e.g. perks are largely randomised or the most common 10 perks are always blacklisted or whatnot. So that you are left with the stuff that makes it very hard to sweat to begin with.
Simple answer, you don't need to control players perks etc. It's never going to be a perfect system obviously you would get some sweats on both sides going into casual playlists. But it would be less common. It'd at least be a step in the right direction. Like I don't mind getting 4kd as survivor or getting 0 kills as killer. Just don't want to have to fight tooth and nail to avoid it every game. Games are to be enjoyed, sometimes I want a challenge and some times I'd just like to ######### about with a meme build and not die in the first 5 mins
You would get more relaxed, enjoyable games on a casual playlist than you currently get. And that'd be good enough for me.
-
It sucks but you either need to secure a better connection. Or play a game where disconnecting doesn't tank the game for everybody else in it.
I do feel for you because I wouldn't want to stop playing the game. But DC penalties are stopping the rage quitters from ruining the game in general. And since there is no way to tell the difference between genuine and deliberate disconnects.
I still have a lot of games ruined by killer or a surv rage quitting. One literally ends the game, the other basically gives killer an auto win.
Just play the game in phases, take breaks when you DC penalty is high until it resets.

It's just the way it's going. Most games that are playable on the older and newer gen consoles (ps4 vs ps5 and xbox 1x vs series x) means that the games are barely usable on the older consoles. I play jurassic world evolution on console. On my series X it runs fine but on the xb1x it's a laggy mess that crashes regularly.

Another one of these? Love hearing high mmr killer mains complain about how the game is surv sided when they've rofl stomped enough teams to get stuck in an mmr bracket where every team is a 4 man swfs with 2k hours play time a piece stacking BNPs and prove thyself. And still somehow kill enough survivors to stay at that mmr.
Because at low to mid MMRs survs get stomped on the regular and it makes for an pretty unenjoyable experience. Good surv teams require an extremely high level of skill and co ordination. And a lot of killer mains seem to think anything less than a 4k every game is unacceptable.
I play both sides roughly equally, (maybe a little more survivor) and it feels killer sided from both sides. I rarely ever struggle in a killer game even with a mediocre build.

thx for actualt advice man. really sorry about the post, made it after I got bullied by (what im pretty sure was) a 4man swf. had 4 dhs, bunch of windows, adrenalines, etc etc. srsly tho i appreciate the help.
No worries mate 😊 And don't need to apologise for the post. Bully squads are the absolute worst, just trolls looking to win and ruin the other players experience in the process.
This is a place for us to talk (more often complain about the game lol) to help improve it. All some people want to do is bring the toxicity here too and insult people who've clearly already had a rough time with the game.
Hope my advice helps and you humiliate the next team trying to troll you 💪

Can we agree that in a comp setting with perk and item and addon restriction the Nurse does not always win? Correct me if you disagree... So if we nerf/remove the range addons (that are not allowed in comp as far as I know) then if the survivors are as good as a comp nurse and are not limited in what they bring they would be more likely to win than the nurse? (Given that it's currently 50 50 or so ... somewhat balanced I guess)
What I want to say with that is when comp players go against a comp Nurse and both parties can win in a comp setting, if we remove limitations I would think the best stuff survivors can bring is stronger than the best stuff the nurse can bring...
The question is now what do we balance around? Because I would say in a comp setting Nurse is balanced with all those restrictions, and if we remove the stuff from her that is not allowed in comp for being too opressive, than I think she can be dealt with... The question is just how good does a survivor have to be to be equal to the nurse...
In a comp setting? So basically against some of the best Survivors in the game, with certain restrictions in place? I suppose so. I wouldn't know, I dont really watch the comp streams.
Tbh it's not comps I'm worried about. The game needs to be fun for the majority of the playerbase. And if a killer is an auto win at the start of a match because the killer player is decent with them and the survs aren't god tier players then it isn't balanced.
-
Mm it does have a slight element of that but it's pretty low key compared to a lot of other games. Chapters are extremely cheap and you can use Iridescent shards to buy the characters with really good perks aside from the licenced ones.
It's nowhere near as bad as games like WoT and the cosmetics in this game are also fairly cheap as far as most games go. BHVR has to make money somehow, especially on a game that's 6 years old. Gaming industy is just like that nowadays.

Yep 5% regression on good skill checks and 0% bonus progression on great skill checks. Made the instructions add on for toolboxes really useful.
Wow also glad I didn't play them. That sounds mental. Glad it got nerfed lol.

Nerfing her does not include making some tiles spots where you will spend minutes until you get a hit or get lucky... That sounds like terrible design... And there is ways to nerf her without going overboard... High wall tiles are already quite good against her when breaking line of sight, I don't think they need to be a free pass to get rid of her because it kind of sounds like that when you have to blink through a wall withtout knowing where the survivor is but being forced to do so because you cannot catch up otherwise.
It's just the way her power works, what you're pointing out would be weaknesses, introduced by a nerf. Which would make her less effective. I mean how many other killers can reliably down and hit a survivor through a solid wall? And it wouldn't be impossible, if you can successfully predict the survivor's movement then you still hit them. Mind games.
The point is, my whole reasoning of suggesting that she goes down to 1 blink is so she can't just blink through a wall figure where surv is, blink again and hit them. Atm in the hands of a decent nurse player she is impossible to avoid. Because the second blink gives her a backup attempt that she really doesn't need.
-
@Archol123 said:
Not having a second blink makes every mistake much more punishing and might even put you in loose loose situations where you cannot clearly know where the survivor is, so you have to guess, but now you cannot correct it anymore with the second one, that's why I find that thing fairly problematic... Imagine a 4 lane and the survivor is just running along to long wall, while being slower than him you cannot really catch up and blinking is rather tough since there are so many options for him to take.
I mean that fits the point of the thread, nurse needs a nerf

You cannot dodge her by running away, maybe if she looses track of you otherwise not...
You mean like literally every other killer?

Then you will create the whole issue we already talked about that short range blinks are basically not possible to be properly dodged... When Nurse blinks at you from less than like 6-8 m or so she will basically hit you guaranteed, that's why keeping her at distance is so important. If you make it so she can basically only short range blink you will maybe make her weaker but even more annoying since then there is nothing you can do about dodging blinks anymore. If she only ever uses her blinks at pallets and windows that would be terrible. There are enough killers in this game that just wait for you to be locked in animation to make Nurse also one of them...
I think we have a different understanding of balance here...
I can certainly dodge her on short range blinks. Round a corner you can double back to juke them out. Pallets are often a 50/50 depending on if they predict your vault properly. The first blink is the longest single jump she makes, it has a pretty decent range. Not sure this is already the case but mid blinks survs should be invisible like in spirits phasing.
She still needs to be effective in some way, there's no point nerfing her into the ground. Because then she'd never get used at all like twins or freddy. The second blink gives nurse players chance to fix a bad blink. Her fatigue timer is pretty long, one blink means she can't just double blink to make up the distance. So she can't drop survs from stupid long distances.

"They are not as good" meaning mostly they are not as broken as CoH?
Seriously, a lot of other Totem-related Perks are balanced.
Just saying, it took 2 separate big bugs in order to kill-switch Inner Healing because only then it became stronger than CoH.
And btw, it's not even just defending 3-Gen, it's cases like "You Injure 2 people, down 3rd guy quickly, hook them" moments.
Normally? They need to spend time now recovering the Health States.
With it up? They are pretty much already Healthy by the time you gain control after Hooking.
Really, matches without and with it in play are vastly different most of the time.
Dark Theory: It's more of "Boon: Resilience" where usually it doesn't matter but shines on narrow stuff.
Exponential: Isn't used much because slugging isn't really a thing currently. And it is given entire team so...
Shadow Step: When Healthy? No Aura-read and Scratch Marks? With some pathing you can break chase against Killer and go away.
When Injured, obviously, it's a bit weaker but again, it's not bad.
Again, Circle of Healing just completely says no, we are just gonna give insane Healing boosts, mostly on Self-Heals so you can even, after Unhook, run towards it, heal there and Unhooker can just do Gens in that time or whatever. There's just almost really no excuse for this Perk to exist.
The other boons straight up suck. I can tell because I virtually never see them and would not use them myself. I haven't seen anyone run exponential in months, I've literally never seen anyone run dark theory. I see shadow step on the odd occasion but always with CoH.
I'm certainly not saying CoH isn't good, it's a damn good perk. Certainly one of the best surv perks. But it isn't OP to the point of being broken. It has counter play, screw shattered hope, that perk sucks ass. Sloppy butcher turns it into self care (which is a god awful perk because it takes so long), and/or nurses calling lets you catch the survs who are self healing. And that's just perks, I've already detailed conventional tactics to beat it.
Tbf killers have it so easy, survs need an effective way to be able to heal when they can't find one another. Nothing worse than getting caught out while injured because you couldn't find a team mate Nd didn't want to cripple your team by running self care.
A perk being meta doesn't make it broken. If it's impossible to counterplay for killer, that makes it broken, and there are numerous ways to counter play CoH.

That’s a pretty unfair stereotype. My family live on the other side of the world so it’s usually just my husband and I. If we aren’t on vacation during Christmas we’ll stay home so I’ll get some time to play. Nothing to do with being antisocial.
Sweeping generalization. Should have maybe changed it to "most people", and most people who choose to game on xmas day would probably still be good gamers. No disrespect to you or your husband, hope you guys have a good christmas. 😊

From a higher distance one blinking people becomes basically impossible since the travel time gives survivors enough time to run out of your lunge range when you blink the full 20 m, even if you blink perfectly where they were... That's why the 2nd blink is often needed to get the hit, especially when you blinked a longer distance.
I mean this is kind of the point. I think the fact that she can easily down people from such a distance is what gets people salty. If it was a more short range power she could only use effective on pallet loops and around corners it would be more balanced. Maybe buff her move speed a little to compensate.
