  • Because they don't want the killer to have any options in how they play. Honestly with the amount of healing speed perks why would you not want to be slugged? Oh...i know why, they don't want to depend on teammates to help them in dire situations, even though the 4 survivors are a team and that team should be = to the killer.

  • That comment about just playing something else really has some merit to it. Lots of people need to stop taking the game so seriously and try to have fun with it again.

  • I only want more killers that break the traditional gameplay loop that's been present for years. I want killers that force survivors to do something different aside from just looping like every other killer.

No, the keys should be as useful as mories are since that's their equivalent, not other items. No reasonable killer would care if keys opened hatch once all gens are finished since that only bypasses 20s of exit gate opeaning which is already undefendable.

And keys would still be good if you team has lost, you're last alive and killer closed hatch. You'd still get 1 free escape at a point where it's reasonable.

They would still have a lot of uses with change like this (arguable more then other items even) but wouldn't be bypassing main objective in unhealthy way anymore.

And the best part, all devs have to do is change single number of gens from whatever it is now to 5 on the hatch spawn condition (like they did to mories, iri heads etc).

This is the better and plausible idea. Its not so much that keys are a problem it's that hatch spawns and promotes survivors to ignore completing gens. Its easier and faster to change how the hatch spawns vs waiting till keys and their addons are reworked.

  • Survivors: Omg i can't stand noed, i shouldn't have to deal with the killer playing bad and winning cause of a perk.

Sensible People: Noed has many counters and you don't even need a perk to do it.

Survivors: NO! I DONT HAVE THE TIME TO DO ANYTHING BUT GENS! JUST NERF THE PERK AND NOT EXPECT ME TO ACTUALLY TRY!

  • Either attempt a grab on the rescuer or dont wait so the hit wont prioritize the survivor on the hook. I wish they'd take away the ability to hit survivors on the hook, it serves no purpose.

  • Sometimes i want to use Noed for the assurance but everytime i put it on i never get to use it cause the survivors are already dead.

These forums are killer main central. You'd never know it here, but you're completely right.

As long as people like sluzzy are on the fourms it'll never be "killer main central". There's a mix of everybody on here with differing opinions, stop insinuating the wrong things.

  • @SilentSpectre said:

And this is coming from a killer main. Killers that choose to tunnel should be punished, not just mildly inconvenienced.

Other suggestion: using decisive should heal the stunner to healthy, instead of staying injured.

Stop trying to overly punish killer players for simply playing the game. You dont get hooked, stun the killer for 5 seconds, and make distance so what more are you trying to get by making the stun 10 seconds? Why should survivors be rewarded for being caught?

  • Its true you can't kick a regressing gen. I don't like the idea of running them together but the idea makes sense, pop is for when your ruin is eventually found and destroyed. I'd rather run corrupt vs ruin since ill always be able to kick gens and still have some slowdown at the start.

  • Its a latency problem, on their side they stood up before you grabbed but on your side you grabbed them before they stood up. I feel like despite latency since im preforming the attack action i should either get the grab or damage the survivor, yet most of the time its just nothing happening.

  • You can go over the cap if BHVR gifts you blood points.

Why should we have to waste perk slots for stuff that swf gets for free?

Because SWF isn't the standard and shouldn't be look at as such. The game was designed and balanced with solos in mind, swf was an afterthought put into the game so friends could play together. This becomes even more apparent when multiple instances of perks stacked together gives the killer less and less chances.

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/259335/the-lack-of-action-on-balancing-keys-is-disturbingly-survivor-sided

It’s because keys are the only thing keeping solo queue survivors playing the game. With the devs blatant refusal to give solo queue things like a base kit totem counter, indication if someone is being chased, or just proximity comms, keys become the only bearable way for solo queue survivors to play the game.

Keys aren't keeping solos playing the game, where did you pull that from? Why should solo players be given perks for free?

Base kit totem counter- Just run small game

Chase indication- You already always have an obsession in the game and if that's not enough then use bond or empathy

The options are there but survivors don't want to take off their meta perks in exchange for these options.

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

It’s a valid strat when the devs put things like noed and ruin in the game which are perks that basically say: if you try to work as a team for help your fellow survivors you lose the game for it. Maybe if it wasn’t so punishing to actually help your teammates out people would be less inclined to let them die

Ruin does nothing if the killer isn't good at applying pressure, if they are it only creates a side objective to be completed.

Noed does nothing the whole match so the killer is only playing with 3 perks, and if players decided to only do gens and leave then they're punished for it.

Helping teammates isn't punishing, its when you try to help teammates in bad situations or just don't help at all that's punishing.

Killers that tunnel (as in ONLY going after one survivor to get them out of the game quickly) and facecamp (especially this) are terrible killers and these are the only way they can rank up and get BP.

They have no confidence in their abilities so they resort to these

If a killer can rank up and get bp by only tunneling and face-camping then how are they terrible since they are in fact ranking up from it?

  • @Troman said:

I read this foolish argument from killer mains again and again on this forum. They try to justify the broken solo vs Killer balance, which is in favor of killers now. Their logic is childish, they are afraid of DEVs boffung soloQ and that they will have less 4k games, so they say it's not a matter of balance, survivors are just bad blah blah.

By that logic all solo players are bad, killers are mediocre and all SWF players are just god-like. So, why do you complain about SWF then? You are just bad, SWF players are just much more skilled. And as soon as a solo survivor starts playing SWF, he suddenly becomes god-like. That simple. Nice perverted logic right?

I remember the days when it was vice-versa, escape rate in soloQ was around 60-70%. After all nerfs, it is around 30% now, so it seems killers were just bad those days and suddenly became smart and all solo survivors became bad.

Killer logic, or the lack of hereof, is so hilarious sometimes.

Solo survivor is what the game was based around and balanced for, swf isn't the standard and shouldn't be looked at as such. There is some truth to certain survivors not belonging in certain ranks, not saying that only solo's are bad since i've seen some bad swf members too. People want solo queue buffed to swf level but in my mind any buffs to solos are an indirect buff to swf. I mean there have been perks that have changed to make any bad situation a survivor is in to be more bearable and i don't think giving solos "free perks" in the form of more information would make them simply play better since a bad player could just not use the info provided.

Survivors shouldn't lose points just because of the Killer's "playstyle." If no one is being chased and the Killer is forcing deaths on hook or trades, the game just doesn't really work at all.

It's basically guaranteed below 20k points and a derank (safety if you brought BT and get lucky)

Its not the killer taking away points because of the way they play, its just survivors not earning points for things they didn't do. The killer forcing hooks and trades doesn't work out for survivors because its not them winning, but it does work for killers. If survivors want points then they need to ensure they stay in the match long enough to get them or run WGLF since its the bbq equivalent. Instead of spawning into the match and working on the first gen you see maybe just take a second to evade the killer starting their patrol just so you aren't the first survivor found. Aside from receiving points from the archive challenges and dallies if people are stressed about getting bloodpoints then they could play killer(since that's one of the appeals to playing killer, making more bloodpoints than survivors).

  • The alternative is to play survivor, but having played killer for so long i see all the dumb stupid mistakes survivors make all the time and dont want to be subjected to that.

  • @zeplore said:

A lot of players think the speed burst a survivor gets when Nemesis first infects a survivor with his tentacle is laughable and makes Nemesis have to hit you 3 times to down you instead of the typical 2 for any other killer power.

For reference, survivors do not get a speed burst when plague pukes vile purge (green) onto survivors, nor do they speed up when hit with a doctor shock.

Some survivors may argue that 3 hits for the first infection and down are okay since of what nemy can hit over and what he can do with his power, but being able to vaccinate 4x times and needing to hit all the survivors 3x times with tentacle to down, then 3x times more again if each one of them vaccinate, that is 24x tentacle whip hits and still only 8 hooks.

Do you think the speed burst on the initial infection hit by nemesis is justified? Why or why not? Do you think this was intentional from the start, considering the -20% MS hindered effect that lasts for 0.25 seconds upon initial viral infection?, Which is completely negated entirely by the current hit-sprint-burst?

Since the first hit with Tentacle Strike doesn't injure the survivor and only infects them, they aren't in danger and shouldn't warrant receiving a speed boost. Since many things are changed for "consistency" I think actions that damage survivors(changing health states) should be the only thing to speed them up.

  • The perk Surveillance leaving gens white till they were worked on again, instead of becoming red after they reach 0%.

If every game is a 4K that mean only killer is having fun. Do you see why that would be an issue?

Fun is subjective and changes from person to person. Someone could think "man that nurse gave me some good chases its a shame i didn't escape but man it could have gone either way" that person would describe the match as fun despite not escaping. 4k doesn't mean only the killer is having fun.

I lost not from my own gameplay, but a combination of genrush and bad RNG.

I make those restrictions because I still want the game to be fun for survivors. There's a reason I don't run Infectious Nurse. I want survivors to have fun and not depip. It's not fair to them.

I don't think the match was fair to you either though. You didn't lose because of your gameplay, i absolutely understand and have been there. Setting that aside did you have fun in that match? If not then where do we draw the line on survivor fun vs killer fun, cause at the end of the match one side will feel bad that they didn't "win".

  • @CoalTower said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2295910#Comment_2295910

I personally pride myself on not tunneling. I'd rather lose than to hard tunnel someone, honestly.

Rather lose playing nurse perfectly than win because of made-up restrictions, nothing wrong with that but i just don't think if you play perfectly you should lose.

  • @CoalTower said:

So I was going to post this after it happened, but I've been busy responding to others on here. So about half an hour ago, I was playing Nurse. I didn't miss a single blink. Not one(I'm proud of this 😂)

But guess how many kills I got? Two. The match lasted maybe 5 minutes, and I got ten hooks in that time. I still only get two kills.

So tell me. How is it fair that survivors doing gens quickly can nearly beat a Nurse playing perfectly? And it's not that I'm salty about not getting a 4k, I was just thinking:

If they got two people out against a Nurse that was playing perfectly, then they would definitely get at least 3 out with any other killer.

This needs fixing. It takes absolutely no skill to do this when it's the most powerful thing in the game.

Seems like its almost required to get players out of the game instead of spreading out hooks, since 2 hooks 2 kills is the same end result as 10 hooks 2 kills.

This is going to be another us vs them....fun....

When a killer tunnels they ruin the fun for that survivor. When a team "gen rushes" they are doing the objective. The killer is going to be there all game long so no one is stopping the killer from having fun.

When I get tunneled and face camped I look at it as the killer acknowledging they are terrible at killer. I've seen killers that don't resort to tunneling or face camping that are very effective. They know how to mind game loops and play to their killer's strengths. When I play killer I don't tunnel or camp because I know how that feels. Too many killer players feel that if they don't 4k then it was a bad game. I don't 4k all the time and I have fun with the game.

So tunneling killers are just bad at killers.

Its not a us vs them discussion, im simply using their logic against them. Ok so tunneling ruins the fun for 1 survivor but when the killer has to watch 4 survivors run out of the exit gate before they teabag 100 times its fun for the killer right? No one but the survivor team is stopping the person being tunneling from having fun, since they can take the heat off of the weak link. So when camped and tunneled you blame the killer for being "bad" instead of looking at what led you to being put on the hook in the first place....I'm kinda sick of the people that say "well i dont do it because ect.", well everyone can't be like you and some people might find enjoyment in killing unapologetically. I don't care if I 4k every game, what i do care about is playing a game where i feel like i have a chance. If survivors decided to speedrun escaping to the exit gate instead of the usual goofing off, then im denied chances to have a fair game.

So gen rushing survivors are just bad at survivor.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/259712/why-tunnelling-is-problem-genrush-is-not

Lol gen rushing is a made up term. You mean survivors doing an objective faster than you’d like? Let’s call it what it is okay. What would you like them to do? Wait in a corner until you’re ready? Lol. Smh.

Tunneling is also a made up term that's often misused. Killer doing their objective faster than you'd like, instead people like to call it unfair/unskilled. What do you want killers to do, wait in a corner till you're ready to play again? Lol smh /s

  • @kingbojenbo said:

    What's gen rushing?

Survivors have one objective and when they complete the objective, it's unfair?

The speeds are not an issue and slowing them down would not be a good idea. Blame the devs.

On the flip side, What is Tunneling?

Killers have one objective and when they complete the objective, its unfair?

Killing survivors is not an issue and preventing killers from doing that isn't a good idea...

  • @van9684 said:

A 4K for the killer across ranks? The stats show the majority of games are in favor of the killer, and that over 70% are 4k rounds. How can people say the game is at all survivor biased when the data shows otherwise?

Yeah because we dont know what kinda metrics this "data" is using so the results are kinda skewed. Plus many survivors aren't as good as they think they are, archive challenges skew results since the goal to survive gets ignored, and survivors will Dc/kill themselves for no reason at all sometimes also inflating kill rates.

No sir. They’re camping and tunneling with 5 gens left. So what now? The excuses in this forum are next level.

Why should a killer ease up how they play whether there's 5 gens left or 1 left?

  • @themirrortwin said:

Moris were nerfed to pieces. Understandably so, they were unfair to the survivors. But honestly, survivors are favored so much in high levels (SWF or high solo survivors) that when I was an upcoming Killer player, I enjoyed Mori games because it actually created a challenge for these top survivors.

What disturbs me most is that keys were not reworked or nerfed at the same time. Keys only benefit SWF on comms (sometimes screwing any solo survivors which I've seen many times). Additionally, they break the game, requiring teams to get fewer gens completed to gain access. They are unfair to killers in almost the same ways as Moris were unfair to survivors.

Yet, the Devs only vaguely reference a key rework. Its honestly frustrating to the killer player base (and mildly frustrating to solo survivors who get screwed by the key). The Devs acknowledged there was a killer shortage, I suspect that will continue to be a problem.

Honestly keys wouldnt even be a problem if the hatch didnt spawn till all 5 gens are done(a simple number change just like mori's). It being there promotes survivors to stop trying and makes it turn into a waiting game.

Survivors being toxic isn’t game breaking where as with killer, they can take an entire game hostage if they’re in a bad mood. Survivors play to have fun. Killers play to get a 4K. It will never be fully balanced as the grind is so much different between killer and survivor. It’s refreshing to see a good survivor or survivor team.

But killers cant take the game hostage, anything they do to you will have you out of the game after a certain amount of time. But survivors can hide because they dont feel like trying anymore for 30+ mins and the killer can do nothing about it.

Why is it funny one way, and not the other?

Because people love to have double standards in this game. "Killer is bad, survivor is good"

  • I dislike this line of thought, if we keep nerfing good killer addons then what will we be left with...browns that in some cases make the killer play worse?

  • @van9684 said:

And they tunnel everyone right off the hook? First day I thought it was due to it being a new killer, but now it’s how they all play. I’ve not seen one game in days where nemesis didn’t tunnel each player off the hook. Anyone else?

Maybe its because he's kinda broken on consoles to the point where things will freeze multiple times during the match. Nobody wants to deal with that so they'll secure the kills they can get instead of being screwed by survivors disappearing because of the freezes. I dont think pc's have the problem as much but consoles are just in a bad state atm.

Can you enlighten us please on how to play against / counter the powers?

    Thank you!

You've got to fake window and pallet vaults so they waste their power and have to go through their cooldowns. Dont try to run them mindlessly like other killers and actually pay attention to what they're doing. PH can get anyone out of the game fast so try to make sure hooks/cages are spread among the team. Whenever Nemesis charges his power he's slower than survivors so bait him into thinking he'll get a hit if you see he really wants to tier up and you'll make distance.

If your teammates point gain doesnt matter to you why does the killers? They dont take away any blood points you earn so why care how much they earn?

Not necessarily true. The devs can say tunneling and camping is not against the rules but we as the players don’t have to just accept that. If we did there wouldn’t be constant posts about it on the forums and Reddit and constant begging of the devs to do something. The devs really should be looking for solutions to this problem instead of pretending like everything is fine. A lot of players would be open to having a discussion about how to fix these issues but the devs don’t want to for some reason

Its not a problem so what solutions are needed? If you payed close attention you would even see that they have tried to address the complaints, aside from making BT work all the time, to letting survivors come off the hook healed to 50%, they keep giving survivors options. But survivors will say no, those don't work for them, and that they should just remove choices that the killer has...

Do you do that every single time? If you are sick and you go to a doctor and that doctor says "It's just a cold, go get some rest" Do you 100% of the time consult another doctor for a second opnion?

Granted you might do so if that doctor says you have cancer, and are dying, and they need to chop both your legs off or something. But the point is, you have some baseline level of faith you put in them because it is their job. So why not give the streamer the same benefit?

Am I saying to never listen to a streamer or what they say, no im not. The only thing I'm saying is to not blindly follow what they say just because they do it for a living, that doesn't automatically qualify them to be right. People can have bad takes and make mistakes and that's fine, but people need to come to their own conclusions with the collective info they have.
