a lot of people are complaining about nurse, and it’s just confusing to me. Can someone clarify what’s the problem with her? And if you do have a problem, let’s hear rework ideas then

The problem is once a player is good enough there is no way to play around her, she holds all the cards and she bypasses anything Survivors have on their arsenal. Also if a player is bad at her the game is just an easy stomp with 4 escapes in 5 minutes, which is also not very satisfying.

There is no way to fix her, Nurse is a relic from a time where the devs didnt really have a clear mindset about the gameplay and she remained the way she is, the only way is to remove her power and give her something else. She is also the one Killer I believe wouldnt make it into DBD2, at least not with this kind of power.

It should be just as high a priority as fixing the Killer experience.

Fixing Killer and Solo experience are part of the same problem, if anyone wants one side fixed must want the other fixed too because you cant buff Killers into SWF levels without them eating Solos alive and you cant put Solo close to SWF without fixing Killer because theyll massacre them.

Unless you only want to stomp with no challenge, of course.

  • Problem with Nurse is if she is good then is pointless to play because you really cant do much against her unless you get one of the great maps, if she is bad then is pointless to play too because its going to be a 5 minutes 4 escape with MAYBE one or two hooks, usually there is no middle ground.

Overall Nurse makes games extremely boring because either you stomp or get stomped and both situations are not very stimulating, I rarely complain if people go AFK/DC/suicide against her, especially if Survivor queue is instant also I rarely unhook the suiciders, if they dont want to play a doomed game I wont force them to stay.

  • Tried to get my friends, four tried during free weekends, two didnt like the grinding, one couldnt run it and the last one didnt like the game. Then there is the problem with playing together, they being newcomers with less than 10 hours me having between 1000 and 2000, then getting paired with Killers who will down them in 20 seconds or Killers who wouldnt be able to land a hit on me in a million years.

This game is almost as newcomer-friendly as an old style MMORPG.

P.D. not being able to bring my friends into this game does not invalidate my complains about Solo, its like saying "hey if you dont like the way your country is going have you tried migrating to another one?".

  • Yes, it has been in dire need of something like that for a long time, at least stop releasing Killers so they can get new ideas.

Lately most Killers have been a mix of already existing powers albeit made weaker to compensate the huge basekit: Sadako = Freddy teleport+Wraith stealth+ Jigsaw RBTs, Artist = Huntress range attacks+Trapper trapped loops, Pinhead = Deathslinger aimed shots+Clown slowdown, Nemesis = Pyramihead without boxes and less range but it can break pallets and has zombies... etc etc etc, having a 6 month without releasing content will allow to release better and more original powers instead of "Hey lets get this thing and that thing and mix it together!".

  • @Lucent said:

Why would they reduce anything that encourages people to play more from their perspective?

Because it no longer encourages people to play, especially the newcomers, a friend of mine tried the free weekend but he saw all the blocked content and the bloodweb thing and decided he didnt have enough time for this game.

A bit of grinding is ok, it feels like a reward when you achieve wathever you are after but in this game grinding has grown into a massive monster.

Honestly, if they add FNAF, They can go ahead and remove the LGBT charm since its clear where there priorities lie.

I think the same, if they add FNAF the Pride charm should be changed to a $ symbol.

  • This game tends to galvanize mains about their role a lot, people stick to a narrative and ignore anything else, it doesnt help streamers are part of the problem and parrot nonsense to their audience, you can see it in this very forum, most threads are people following an agenda about their role of choice while ignoring the other side problems. All this split ends up making people believe the somewhat neutral developers are actively working to undermine their role of choice.

Its like politics, "my side good, your side bad", then people ignore corruption and missmanagement among their files while amplifying the other mistakes and start with the "X agency benefits the other side and harms my side".

I had seen this, but didn't want to ask for more details until it had been resolved; now that its been disabled, can you elaborate on what triggered the issues?

When you use OoO and Blood Pact, when someone gets hurt they see your aura and since your aura is being revealed you get to see Killer's aura nonstop, similar to old OoO (dont know if the Killer sees yours).

    Dont know about the crash.

  • Yeah, I saw several videos of people doing that on Reddit, if you used Head On on one of the lockers that spawn where the fence is broken the Killer would be sent flying away, landing on top of houses, trees, etc, one of two days after those videos the map was disabled, I always asumed it was because of that.

  • @Crowman said:

The devs did killswitch Dead Dawg when that one breakable was bugged and created an infinite. So it's bizarre they haven't kill switched Badham.

Wasnt Dead Dawg disabled because it had a bug where you could launch the Killer into the stratosphere if you used Head On in the balcony of the main building?

  • The game really has a massive issue with holding new players, the insane grind, the cumbersome tutorial (still lacks a lot of basic info about the game like what are hexes), the sheer amount of content blocked behind paywalls (they could open some of the older, original Killers and Survivors like Doctor, Clown and Hag).

Plus veterans are getting tired of a ton of problems not getting addresed properly like camping, gens going superfast unless you get a early down and too much disparity between map design and a long long list.

On a sidenote, I think Elden Ring did more damage to DBD than other games from the same genre.

  • From Survivor perspective they are designed for mass slugging which is probably the worst non-reportable experience you can have in this game (facecamping lasts for 2 minutes, being slugged only to be picked up only to be slugged again until you bleed out is more than 4 minutes).

From Killer perspective, I didnt try them so I cant really talk but from what Ive seen in videos they are extremely cumbersome and clunky to play (and thats a good thing, the worse they feel to play the less people playing that abomination).

And the problem with trading hooks....Is what exactly ?

Nothing when its done by someone bombing the hook and going for unsafe saves without waiting for Killer to go away but it shouldnt be the best outcome of a facecamping scenario.

Well, we have had some hints that some form of BT may become basekit. If that involves the Endurance status effect, then it won't be a bandaid fix with a perk.

The problem is that making facecamping too easy to punish or gutting Leatherface would have a dramatically worse effect on the game than the existence of facecamping currently does. It's a problem to be solved very, very carefully.

The problem with making facecamping easier to punish stirs from the bandaid fix mindest, you make it so gens go faster if camping then they go godspeed while someone distracts the Killer near the hook, which is a problem on itself that was "fixed" by making perks like Ruin/PGTW, "fixed" problems that are not really fixed, gens still go really fast if you dont apply pressure at the begining. If they find a way to make facecamping easy to punish without harming normal gameplay it would be the way to go as it will only apply to that situation.

The BT basekit is not a bad idea but it wont solve Leatherface problem (or facecamping at all, right now you only can trade hooks with BT).

  • @jesterkind said:

What would you think about Bubba's chainsaw hitting the Endurance status effect forcing it into a hard stop, so survivors with BT on them could escape?

Contesting hooks in general should be a viable option so I don't like the idea of just stopping him from doing that no matter the circumstance, but this change would make it so a skilled survivor can get the rescue off and force a trade if he decides to facecamp, which would bring him in line with how effectively most other killers can facecamp.

A bandaid fix with perks is not the way to go, they have been doing that for years and most problems are still a problem, its time they get over the "a perk may fix this" mindset and start adresing the myriad of problems this game has.

Either they make it so facecamping is much easier to punish or they have to gut Leatherface.

  • Instead of making it 100% the better buff would be to make it reversable so if you use it and people heal you they get the effect (2 people would get 25% of their bar instead of 50%).

The perk is not bad per se, what makes it bad is the conditions to activate it are very niche so you dont get to use it a lot.

  • @I_am_Negan said:

Because you rushed the match you didn't do anything besides camp why would you get more BP?

OP has a point, MMR is supposed to measure skill based on kills and escapes getting 4 kills with 4 hooks is quite the performance, actually you cant get much better than that, he should be awarded the big prize not some meager BP amount, its like winning the 100 meter in the olympics pulverizing Usain Bolt record and then getting handed a chocolate medal instead of a gold one.

Great performances should reward great BPs.

  • Play as Hag.

Play against wathever is the FOTM that attracts the ezmodo sweatlords, right now probably Wraith, its more about the crowd playstyle than the Killer power themselves.

Honorable mention: Twins, overall disgusting experience but since they are SO rare I cant put em as most boring for I rarely see them more than once per week (thank god).

  • Its very sad the other 2 worked for the Killer to get you dead but some people have this mindset where they think this game revolves only around chases and making them as long as possible, anything else like hiding, juking, sneaking around, fixing gens etc thats for losers and cowards.

Fixing gens while hiding and juking the Killer is usually the best thing Survivors can do and the strongest way to play, the gens get done, the Killer doesnt progress their objective, they become frustrated making them prone to mistakes, nobody wastes pallets which may be useful if someone gets spotted etc, the only drawbacks are its hard to pull and petty people may take ofense and camp whoever gets found first (someone is going to get found eventually), also Ruin gets more value.

In my experience both as Killer and Survivor during the first 2 minutes if people play very very sneaky while fixing gens they can put a ton of pressure on the Killer (gens are getting done albeit slower and all pallets still stand, once he finally finds someone its almost guaranteed 3 gens pop before the chase is over), the best way to achieve this is if you spawn near a gen, fix it for 5 seconds and then go find another one, especially one where you saw the Killer coming from as its probably the last gen he will visit again, once he sees the gen you started he will lose several seconds searching the area, giving you and the rest of the team a lot of free time.

Looks like I have to watch the japanese version of ring.

Do it, is so much better than the USA version, its also weirder. If you like it you should watch Ju-On/The Grudge too, very unsettling too.

  • I think another reason for not buffing or reworking certain perks is "buffing/reworking them into what?" mechanically speaking the game is very limited, there are vaults, pallets, gates, gens and totems and thats it, there isnt much stuff to add to any interaction with those that isnt already added, a lot of the new perks are esentially what we already have but into a new form (Crowd Control = Bamboozle+Hex, No Way Out = Bamboozle+Exit Gates, Pain Resonance = Pop+Hook+BBQ, CoH = AOE+Self-Care, Exponential = AOE+Unbreakable etc).

Monstrous Shrine is awful and needs a rework, but what can be done with it? they cant buff it to work with all hooks or camping would be much more efficient and get out of hand, think of Boil Over buff, it came with a lot of trolls burning Crotus Penn and RPD offerings and running towards the safe spots (the library and the asylum top floor).

  • Rarely, either they dont have it or I play conservatively enough that almost im never the one affected by it, after someone gets downed I just open the gates and escape.

  • Yeah Leatherfaces are almost always a guaranteed camp so I just stopped caring about unhooks and resorted sticking to the gens.

  • Yes, a lot of people take them seriusly, you can read posts on forums and watch a lot of streamers getting super tilted over clicky-clicky.

  • Its an exploit unintended by the developers so it has to go, good riddance.

    @Crowman said:

Imagine defending an exploit to gain an unfair advantage in a game.

Thats pretty common actually, both in this forum like in Reddit and other DBD related media.

  • I dont think those are new players, they are probably people who want to annoy the Survivors, trolling is its own reward.

  • Nah, Monstrous Shrine is a perk that facilitates camping strategies, it should be reworked into something else related to hooking people instead of speeding up hooks in basement.

  • I had this idea some time ago with Tony Todd, since the guy is the king of slasher films (he has appeared in a ton of them both as evil and good people) I tought it would be super cool if they made Tony Todd versions of BHVR original Killers, using his likeness and style adapted to each Killer.

Like Trapper Todd, Doctor Todd, Wraith Todd, Clown Todd etc. For example Doctor Todd would still have the electrodes on the head and the eyepieces (the mouthpiece could distort the face too much), Clown Todd would have the greasepaint and a new outfit based on his style, stuff like that.

  • I have a question, FNAF characters would be allowed to use the Pride charm or is locked for them?.

  • Im still getting globes on PC so I guess Steam has crossplay.

  • People dont think its ok to be toxic in the endchat or toxic in general, they think its ok when their side does it, you can see in most DBD media people defending certain tactics, behaviours or manners in some posts while criticizing the other side for the same in others.

Its more of a problem with the polarization in the roles than a problem with manners or toxicity itself.

  • Not a bad idea but the sheer amount of work needed to remake/prune a lot of outdated/problematic mechanics is just too much to tamper with the code, right now there are several game mechanics way too ingrained into the game for them to be able to fix them just with patches and without alienating almost everyone playing.

If they were to attempt something like this the only option would be a DBD 2 or something like that, you cant get rid of camping/tunneling, looping, heavy RNG maps and certain other stuff without creating a ton of problems unless you start with a new brand blank slate, in other words a new game.

The problem is not DH or Ruin or CoH or Nurse or SWFs, the problem is what lead to those things existing and being neccessary, the real problematic stuff is at the core not at the outer layers, those are just a symptom.

    Granted. But it's a hag's cosmetic.

I wish we had more bp per match

Granted, double BPs every match, stuff on the bloodweb cost double tho.

I wish we had a health and balance patch.

  • Not much, I play because I enjoy it, when Im playing I dont have those toughts about quitting, the game making me miserable, hate towards BHVR or other players etc. When Im not playing I dont crave it or feel like I need it.

Also when the playerbase switches toward extremely unsuferable metas I tend to barely play or not play at all because the game becomes tedious, for example during old Undying+Ruin+Tinker+Gottagofast Killer and during CoH I stopped playing certain Killers like Legion. I suspect the next Twins conpendium will put me out of comission for the time it lasts.

  • @Shaped said:

All gens are done what is he supposed to do?

But yeah, there is barely any skill in this game and when it happens it doesn't reward you as it should. Instead you can also get punished for it while the teammates who didn't do much escape.

Seeing how the Killer only got 3 hooks maximum my wild guess is this Nemesis facecamped or just got looped for an absurd amount of gens and now he is facecamping the last one he managed to get before they could open the Exit Gates.

Either case he is showing an amazing display of skill, almost reminds me of Slayers_boxer on Brood War... almost.

Removing perk tiers would be a solution for the next 10 years. Before they reached the current amount of bloodpoints required to max everything out. So i don´t really see why they won´t implement it.

Its funny they think this game will last 10 years while pumping a new Killer and Survivor every 3 months, especially when they have been rehashing Killer powers since the last 2 years.

nobody learns anything from those exchanges

No it doesnt, both are also tools for poor orators or people without arguments to deflect any kind of argument and try to steer the conversation towards their goals by dodging the subject at hand, pity its so damn effective at all levels.

  • @Brokenbones said:

Something that bugs me about discussions sometimes is when people make accusations or project things onto you despite it not being true. Like a random example might be if you express an opinion about a certain perk or power and you're hit with things like "yeah but what about other thing?" or "you just think that because your XYZ"

It doesn't happen that often though, for me at least.

Whataboutism and ad hominems are two of the most used tools to debate, this forum is not going to be an exemption.

  • I believe this aswell, getting an easy bandaid fix for the grind until they put something else is easy they already have the code for double/triple BP, they just need to make it permanent, if they dont do it its because they dont really care at all, which is absurd im willing to bet the grind is one of the main aspects that throw away newcomers.

  • Probably because thunderstorms in games require much more resources than light rain or light snow, seeing how poorly optimized the game is (especially on consoles) adding something like thunder with dynamic light and all the great effects would put the already low FPS into the single digits.

  • They should double or triple BP gains until they implement said "permanent solution", right now is insane especially for Killers, at least Survivors as long as you have one of them with all perks you are golden but Killers are extremely perk dependant, you want to play Myers and M&A doesnt show? tough luck pal.

  • Killswitch wont cut it, just delete the map from the game. Capcom retiring the license cant come soon enough...

  • Chat censorship doesnt work, it just filters words at random.

  • @gendoss said:

I swear in a decent amount of my games a lot of these PC killers use slight speed hacks. Either it's that or for whatever reason the speeds of killers just seem extremely inconsistent. One game I can run an Oni on a loop easily and then the next game on the same loop a Myers just seems to speed around it like crazy. Does anyone else have this problem of killers not having consistent speeds or are there just a decent amount of actual hackers that give themself like 5% extra speed?

Myers is one of the Killers that looks faster because of his animations, Myers animation is that of a person walking but speeded up to 115%, I obviusly dont cheat and Myers is the only Killer Ive ever played that on very rare ocasions people ask if I was slightly hacking, never happened with any other Killer, this applies to some other Killers like Clown or Freddy.

Also Killers may appear faster if they are looping very tight to the wall, same as Survivors, its not that they are faster but the overall distance is shorter and it can make a difference, maybe shaving one lap on the loop.

  • Cope is probably one of the best Survivor streamers out there, he is also one of the least cringy, toxic or flashy, he just plays the game and ocasionally answers to chat and thats it.
