  • Does a permanent disable of RPD, Midwich and Twins count as QoL changes?

  • Anyone here hoping the killswitch gets bugged and Midwich gets disabled forever?

Sounds like a standard solo queue experience.

I agree, its common in Solo if someone gets hooked at the end even if there isnt a reasonable chance to get them out and nobody goes for a save at least 1 person is going to bring it up in the postgame chat even Killers (which I suspect are baiting people into giving them more hooks or kills).

The worst case I remember was one guy threatening to report another one because he was left on hook against Wraith while there was only 1 person left and he was injured (the other 2 were already dead), there was no reasoning, he was hellbent on arguing the other should have atempted a save which was obviusly impossible, Wraith is invisible, you are hurt, there is no way you dont get smacked before even reaching the hook.

good point. I think it could work fine having some of the elements from her menu music (the instruments) and her power (the preaching/whispers once she gets the red puke)

If people really want religious inspired theme for her they should get some samples of Zoroastrian liturgic music (if there is something like that) and make a grim more sinister version.

  • @Azshhh said:

For the love of god, give Plague some darks souls-esque latin chanting chase music already >.<

Doesnt make much sense since she isnt Roman or even from European heritage, she is even older than the Roman Empire itself, also altough we dont really know how ancient music sounded the guttural chanting choirs are typically associated with christianity during medieval Europe (altough is not clear if they sounded like modern composers make them sound nowadays).

  • A lot of pointless offerings should be removed or at least pruned and others should have their costs reduced, luck offerings are useless, mist offerings are mostly useless too, coin offerings shouldnt be purple, map offerings should be merged (make one for indoor maps and merge RPD, Lery, Midwich and The Game offerings), shrouds should get changed alltogether etc.

  • If those techs are exploits or not is not up to us to decide, the question is simple "Are those techs intended by the developers?" if yes, they are not exploits, if no they are exploits and thats it.

Who decides whats a bug and what not are the guys at BHVR.

Exploits are bannable offenses. Hug tech is not bannable.

True, but that doesnt mean every exploit guarantees a ban, take for example icon textures, it is bannable to change them but they decide not to do it, they do warn everyone one day Easycheat may detect the changed icons and issue a ban, if that happens you dont have any possible defense.

  • Wraith, the power is simple to understand, easy to use and new Survivors fare horrible against him, it has the downside if you are very new and stomp a lot of people your MMR will increase much faster than if you were playing any of the other base Killers.

This is an offtopic but if I dont say it I will literally explode.

Somewhat it is but also all the information and knowledge gets flooded between a ton of disinformation, absurdity, superfast-to-consume media and the glorification of basic literacy.

How many fake videos does Youtube have about "lifehacks" that are false?, how many false "did you know this piece of trivia?" articles out there?, internet has an insane amount of information but its not curated in any way and lies spread rampart, you can literally write wathever absurdity you want like dinosaurs coexisting with humans and if someone famous believes it and spreads the article people will eventually take it for the truth.

  • I think Corrupt is just a bandaid for the problem of massive maps and Survivors spawning very close to gens when using a low mobility or slow start Killer (Myers, Jigsaw, Hag, Trapper etc) if the perk were to go theyll have to fix the problem somehow.

Take on account any fix to this has to be compatible with gotta-go-fast Killers and Nurse, which are one of the biggest drags on Killers getting stronger perks or more favorable mechanics. If you make a perk or a game mechanic that gives the weakest Killers a decent buff it can make Nurse even more broken and Blight/Spirit unbeatable, its not easy to find the middle ground for general buffs/nerfs when the disparity of power is extreme.

  • There is no way Legion stays this way, yesterday I was on Coal Tower and it was literally impossible for us to stop them from stabbing us 4 times, totally busted in small maps.

My guess is the adding speed increase or the base speed are going to get nerfed.

I have taken higher education, they didnt teach us Roman Numerals there either. Complicated Functions are relevant to my job.

Roman Numerals I assume would be some basic school stuff, which serves no relevance in modern society so It ought to go.

As well as being fancy in Videogames.

The Math you learn in Basic Schools is relevant as well as preparing for higher education.

Because Roman numerals are taught when you are around 10 years old in school not in college also they are taught in history class not math since they are used to teach about the Roman empire and how it worked, you could say they serve to prepare kids to learn about how humankind organized and how the world worked long ago, they are useless to everyone who doesnt study history but you can say the same about any subject that has nothing to do with what you end up doing for a living outside of basic literacy like reading or adding. I work in an oil refinery, I dont know what use I have for 12 years of literature or the rivers and mountains of Europe or Roman numerals even if they are a foundation for people who went to arts or geography careers.

I still think it was good that I was taught about all those things even if I only use the knowledge to play Trivial.

P.D. teaching Roman numerals takes like 1 hour tops, its an extremely simple system, its not like we waste weeks or months studying them.

  • I dont know how green glyphs work but if they are like the rest only people with the challenge can interact with them and they can only see if they are being interacted by someone doing the challenge.

This is assuming the work like red, blue, white, purple and yellow glyphs (which I suppose they do).

Why on earth would modern schools spend time teaching students the numeral system of a dead civilization?

Seems like a waste of time, except for fancy art projects.

General knowledge, is something that literally takes 1 hour and while not very useful you can say almost the same about anything they teach at school that isnt related to wathever you will do for a living, why do mechanics, doctors, engineers need literature? why do historians, chefs drivers need math more complex than add, substract, multiply and divide?.

Knowledge of any kind shouldnt be frowned upon and learning stuff even if useless is good for the brain, helps develop it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/317460/you-have-not-time-to-cleanse-all-totems-if-killer-has-anti-gen-perks

No one ever said "cleanse all 5" wait to see if there's NOED at end game. Then look for it. It's really not that hard.

Not worthwhile, if I have time to check the Totems I have time to open the Gates and get out which in the end benefits me way more than risking getting spotted and then NOED'd. Solo is everyone for himself after there is 1 gen left and onwards, its better to play super defensive once the last gen pops and wait until someone gets hit to check if there is NOED then its gates and goodbye.

I used to cleanse all 5 Totems with Detective's Hunch so I was super effective but with the new surge of slowdown perks I find it impossible, its just not worth it unless we are stomping the Killer and even if we are, one bad hook+camp+checking if we can unhook could spell doom on us.

  • I think its a sign of things to come, they also did a survey about the battlepass and in a few months they announced the rift, sometimes corporations do this "surveys" not to gauge what the consumers want but to know how something they are working on will perform once released.

Plus the anniversary is close and they usually make big announcements with it, they may announce these features on it.

  • She was also released around the time Elden Ring released so many people stopped playing for a while to play ER.

  • While strong she is super boring to play, same happens to Hag.

Artist and Hag have no market niche because people who ejoy engaging gameplay prefer more interactive and interesting Killers, people who enjoy stomping prefer Nurse or Blight since they are the 2 strongest Killers.

In my experience most of the "bad" players are on the killer side like "SWF shouldn't exist it's cheating and it's bannable" or "No Mither is OP" or some ######### like that.

Not saying there aren't terrible survivor mains, but from my experience interacting it just feels like there's more on the killer side.

I "agree", I believe both mainers have a similar % of bad players I just find Killer mains to be way more vocal, bad Survivors mains seem to play, get massacred and go into the next game while bad Killers seem to play, get stomped, come to the forums, complain about wathever someone used and go into the next game.

  • I dont think Myers is weak, I think most people play it wrong, he has the ability to bypass the best looper in the team with 99% EW3 and M&A, you can watch videos of great Survivor streamers being downed in seconds because a 8m TR Myers with 99% EW3 surprised them before they could reach a loop. I never felt the necessity of stalk replenishing, you can get EW3 6 times, I rarely need that many tier3 in a match as usually you get at least 1 down with each, I get on average 1,5 downs per EW3 use or even more.

I think his problem comes from map design, huge maps and low wall maps hurt him a lot and the game ditching stealth with brighter maps and less fog makes it easier to spot him because he is the size of a truck.

I do believe he should get the "peek" action Ghostface has as stalking unnoticed with him is hard.

And here I am thinking he could stalk multiple survivors. 😳

Nah you only drain the one closest to you.

  • Its better to disable them, they clutter the Bloodweb, cost a lot and are usually used for scummy stuff, the game has enough toxicity already, the developers shouldnt give people more tools to spread it.

  • Tell her the gameplay is unique and she probably never played something like it, also warn her the grinding is substantial and the first games are going to end with her dying on a hook.

  • I agree with OP, plenty of games I played with ranked and unranked both modes were plagued by sweatlords, trolls, unsufferable ragers and toxicity, there was barely any difference at all between them.

P.D. I think ranked and unranked are already decided, the survey is just to gauge how well the comunity will receive the change, not the first time they use a survey and ask stuff thats not in the game only to have it announced as a feature a few months later, which is a bit odd since its usually claimed they plan the contant many months in advance.

  • When someone bad manners or plays scummy and karma gets back at him/her, both sides apply.

  • We werent there and if OP says it was an inefficient play I believe him since he has shown several times he plays this game enough to discern good and bad plays.

and that is fair enough !!

i'm just wondering why you would waste the trap when you can slug them + force someone else to get off gens and heal them wasting even more time. my confusion comes from her clearly wanting to win- hence doing what she did, fair enough- and yet being so inefficient about it.

Maybe she used it to get extra points, sometimes if the game is already won because people suicided or DC I put one on the last person if I still have them because it gives around 500 BPs.

Or just poor decission making, sometimes you can only explain certain actions with "the player made a mistake because he did".

I admit to it. Often if I had a good chase, send a chat if they got out. Yesterday I was playing some blight, trying to get good with him. Actually had the 4k but I decided to let little Leon go last minute. Sent a chat that it was fun and he goes "I'm a god".

....what? I let him go because I closed hatch. He was stuck on one door. Made me laugh though. Man's really believed he escaped all by his lonesome.

I mean in the forums, most people who posts about nerfs rarely admit they may not be as good as they think they are, they just jump into the bandwagon about "nerf this nerf that" without even questioning if it was their own fault they got crushed.

Its always the same excuses "there is nothing I could do!!" you can see plenty streamers acting like this but if you examine the gameplay mistakes start to appear and those pile up.

  • I dont do that but I may attack someone with an active trap if I have the chance because they are easy targets, someone hurt/downed is free pressure and many people believe they wont be attacked so they are extra bold but getting out of your way for that is pointless especially if you may lose another hook or the game is heavily on your favor already.

Out of curiosity. How many survivors have you seen that stomped killers and didn´t had DH or DS equipped?

Are you implying running DH and DS are mandatory to get 4 escapes? if so the problem is not those perks are too strong is the rest are actually garbage and by nerfing DH and DS Survivors will have barely 0 chances of winning a match, I hope a deserved nerf to DH will be paired with a necessary nerf to Killers too, since they would hold all the cards.

That being said, Ive seen enough 4 escapes or 3 escape+lucky hook during EGC with 2 or less DH/DS per game to know there arent THAT determinant, both as Killer and Survivor, I dont use any of those unless they help me speed up challenges (get X stuns, avoid X attacks).

Onto my question, do Killers acknowledge sometimes they lose because they played badly or they are worse than they realize?, because Ive seen pleny examples on this forum of people screaming for nerfs and when they describe how they play or show gameplay they severely lack on skill (wont namedrop because isnt allowed even if they are already banned but there were plenty of cases of people complaining about DH and then showing the forum how poorly they ran the L/Ts or how poorly their decission making was).

  • Power-wise Ruin is much better, regresses gens at the same pace, the effect is permanent, you dont need to kick and its global BUT its a Hex so it can be taken down in the first 20 seconds or last the entire match, the games where Ruin doesnt get cleansed in the first 5 minutes are almost always a 3K.

Reliable-wise CoB is much better, it cant be taken down and it will always be there and give you value, from second 0 to minute 10, it always works and has synergy with PGTW (albeit is a bit overkill and you dont get REAL value of the combo unless the gen is at 60% or more).

If you want some powerful games at the expense of playing gimped others Ruin is the better choice, if you prefer stability and a reliable regression which will work always albeit at less value CoB is your choice.

  • @Tsulan said:

I still haven´t seen a single killer ever asking to get 4ks every time.

I still havent seen a single Killer admiting they have made mistakes and get stomped because of lack of skill, its never "I messed the loops" or "I made the wrong decissions" its always "Survivor is OP" or "DH/DS/FotM is broken".

    What!?

Hawkins was one of my favorite maps in the game. Easily the best indoors map.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2876788#Comment_2876788

Wishful thinking, I assume. That map, along with Yamaoka and Midwich are the few that I'm never sad to go to. The atmosphere, visuals and flow of these maps was/is perfect.

It can be your most loved map and one of the most hated maps from the comunity at the same time, when they announced the map was going away there were a lot of people expressing how happy they were about it, you just need to check the amount of "vote up" Aven Fallen post has.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Funny how many people claim to like this map. Starting when it got removed.

I am glad that it is gone and I hope it will never return.

Yeah, when Hawkins was in rotation it was one of most hated maps by the playerbase, usually considered the worst until Midwich and then RPD took that place.

I hope it will never return in any form.

  • No, it muffles breathing, steps, long distance TR, far away screams, crows, pain sounds etc...

  • Without Prestige I dont think its possible but Im not 100% sure so thats a maybe, with P3 absolutely not.

  • First of all not all maps are square, I believe there are more irregular maps than rectangular ones.

About having hills and trees acting as limits, its a great idea but sadly the game is poorly optimized, having a hill, trees, a lake or stuff like that while cool would probably hurt performance, especially on consoles, as long as the performance remains a problem I think is better the maps remain this way, even if they feel a bit cheap on the borders.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

Agi is one of the first perks ever added to the game, there is no good reason they kinda just decided it would be that way.

Pretty much this, at the begining people hearing the TR would stop doing anything and go hide, now the TR isnt as scary as it used to be but it has good synergy with certain perks so it was left this way, not that a small TR has much use when carrying a Survivor anyway.

  • @indieeden7 said:

I usually just mess about and then give the killer a kill at endgame, probably in the minority here but I find playing with hackers really funny (as long as they aren't being completed dicks to the killer)

I actually find some cheater antics amusing (both sides) especially the super high bounces, people moving at lightspeed, teleporting to weird places, Leatherfaces setting traps, Ghostfaces machinegunning hatchets etc... but I know a lot of people get super annoyed when they have to play with/against them so as deference if I notice the Killer is one of those Ill just try to end the game as fast as I can if he lets me.

This goes for Killers who dont enjoy the hackers antics, if you see Survivors doing gens, dont go after them, they are your ticket to get out of the game without a DC penalty, a lot of times Ive been trying to fix the gens only for the Killer to chase me because "this guy isnt hacking so I may be able to hook him! YAY!!" which never happens because the Killer will get blinded, stunned, slowed, I get instahealed etc by the hacking crowd and even if they do hook me now they cant leave because nobody will activate EGC.

  • I try to fix the 5 gens as fast as I can, Survivors cheating rarely do them, they try to extend a match as much as possible so they can annoy the Killer the maximum amount of time also cheaters rarely let anyone get hooked, usually trying to suicide is moot, theyll save you over and over.

Suiciding/DC leaves the Killer trapped with people who will try to drag the match for eternity, sure you got out with a suicide/DC, yay! now the Killer is trapped in an unwinnable game until he is forced to DC.

  • Im not going to stop playing but Ill mostly play Killer, Twins is an abomination to play as or against.

Stealth is the intended game design as per the video they released a mere five months ago.

Not anymore, actions tell more than words, they can say wathever they want but the facts are they have been nerfing stealth to the ground for a few years. You can call the Moon the Sun but it wont stop being the Moon. If they were to buff stealth again I would say its the new intended game design, right now it isnt.

Plus my point still stands, Nurse shows how insanely broken are Killers that can bypass pallets and get countered by stealth.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2859512#Comment_2859512

To clarify, the fix would be to make it so killers can't literally be afk almost an entire match and get kills. The killer having to actually be in the game and attack survivors to get kills at boxes doesn't really need a fix in that sense.

In my opinion it does, mainly because there is no counterplay to a RNG situation where the Killer has to put zero effort.

I have no problem with blocking the last box if you chased someone, trapped him, learned which 3 boxes he searched and deciding "well, you die now because I know I can block the last one", the Survivor had a chance and the Killer put some work but the VHS tape is zero effort, you spawn, go to a box and call it a day, whoever cant get the trap off dies without any way to avoid it since she will always be able to force them out of the box.

With my suggestion the traps behave the same, best case scenario you get the trap off with the first box, worst you get it off with fourth (same as non VHS addon gameplay) the only difference is the Killer cant block anyone from getting them out because there is a fifth box and the key is guaranteed on the fourth you search.

Knowing BHVR its either a fix where there is a realistic way of getting the trap off or reworking the addon entirely, I think the tape is an interesting twist on the match and I dont want it reworked into something else entirely but I dont like the way it rewards the user for doing nothing.

  • Perks are balanced with a 4 setup on mind, making it 5 will require to fix a ton of incredible busted combos.

  • @dugman said:

Not yet. I wouldn’t be shocked if at some point they tweak the jigsaw boxes so survivors can use them from the side though. It’s probably just pretty low priority.

Nah that wouldnt fix it, they are never AFK.

Either they change the addon entirely or they fix it with "Increases number of Jigsaw boxes to 5, it guarantees the key is in the 4 box you search" this way the effect of the addon remains the same but the Killer cant block/camp them to get zero effort kills.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2856078#Comment_2856078

My point is that it is an often overlooked thing when so many Survivors literally run into the Killer on purpose to get into a chase. The game is not meant to be played that way by the devs own admission. So doing that and then crying about map resources as a "primary means of defense" is backwards thinking and not the intended game design.

Stealth existing to a minimal residual degree is not a good reason for a Killer to ignore pallets, Nurse plays exactly as that, a Killer that requires stealth and ignores pallets and she is so broken she is her own category.

Also, stealth isnt the intended game design anymore or they wouldnt be nerfing it for years, now looping and and running the Killer for maximum amount of time is the intended design so pallets have to be an integral part of gameplay.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2855484#Comment_2855484

The Survivor's main line of defense is STEALTH. People seem to have forgotten that.

True but is a crappy first line of defense, its like saying since barbed wire is the first line of defense your machine guns and tanks after the barbed wire should shoot peas instead of bullets, i mean, you have that first line of defense why do you need anything else?.

As people have already said, BHVR nerfed stealth to the ground, maps are very bright, dark clothes were made brighter, fog got reduced (new and reworked maps barely have any fog at all), solid, high walls are almost non existant, plenty detection perks, newer Survivors are louder than ever and on top of that you can use filters so everything is even easier to discern.

Possibly, but would get busted. Nurse has shown us that being able to ignore the survivor's main line of defense isn't a good thing.

Pretty much this, even Killers like PTB Artist were extremely busted when they could ignore part of Survivors defenses.

Her counter has always been mind-gaming objects which break LoS or start to run up a floor on a multi-floor map and then backtracking as she casts her blink forcing her to go downstairs.

Which can be easily outdone by a very good Nurse since high walls have been more and more scarce because the game has been switching from stealth to loops from a very long time.

  • @MilManson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2854664#Comment_2854664

They did have a clear mindset... She's designed to be a phase walking killer that warps into the spirit realm to manifest on the teleport location.

I mean on how the game was supposed to be played, at the begining there wasnt that much emphasis on loops and the game was more centered about stealth, then people discovered loops and how Killers had trouble navigating them because they had a bigger collision box, suddenly the game started to switch to less stealth and more loops, fog got reduced, darker clothes were made easier to see, tall grass shortened, darker maps had increased light, added a ton of detection perks etc... but Nurse, who was countered by stealth and demolished loops, remained the same.

The only real counter to Nurse is stealth which has been neutered to such a degree is almost non existant except the "a high wall blocks view" stealth approach.
