Ruin/Undying is meta right now and Discordance is a solid perk. I'm pretty sure they were just trying to get a rise out of you and...it worked.
Decisive survivor victory.
Hey to make you feel better I play an absolutely terrible huntress and I've been imprisoned in red ranks for a long time. I just don't ever play her and I dusted her off yesterday just for filler while I was rushing through the archives.
The survivors were nice but I think my accuracy that round hovered around 25%. I was so embarrassed.

I cannot believe this is getting upvotes. Never have I seen a more pure example of killer main bias in DBD history.
It's important to remember a lot of people just don't like to argue. However, despite the vocal ones dismissing and laughing, the simple fact is I am correct and the majority agrees with me.
I'm not a killer main either, I play both sides equally and have for a few years now. I don't see how people would pay for the game then not use everything available to them. Plus some survivors look cool.

What? How does someone get the line of thought that a Mori can be bad for the Killer?
If a Mori is used early (which means - before 4 or at the very least 3 Gens are completed) and the game turns into a 3v1, the Killer can only lose if the Skill Gap between them and the Survivors is REALLY big. Meaning if the Killer is way worse than the Survivors he is going against.
The usual way of playing is that 1 person is on the hook, 1 person is going for the safe and 1 person is getting chased. Which leaves 1 person on Gens. If it is a 3v1, that last person is gone, the game cannot really progress for the Survivors anymore. You have to mess up massively to lose while using a Mori.
It's like what I was talking about with Mr. Zaytex. We agree. Based on the killer skill, if he/she/it gets enough downs before a certain amount of gens are done, then yes it does toss the game in the killers favor, absolutely. However if the killer can't get enough downs to create that pressure due to looping, flashlight saves, pallet saves etc etc, the killer would lose regardless of what its offering is.
Like for example this was when I was a baby Trapper learning the game, and I kept this screenshot because it was my first 4mori kill.
Did I win because I was a god at Trapper or did I win because we're all newbies and killers have an advantage at low ranks? Do you think I could have pulled off a 4k mori at red ranks back then?
If only one survivor gets mori'd, is it different from an ivory? If 2 get mori'd, is it different from a tombstone piece? Alternatively, is a Huntress can't hit her iri hatchets, does it matter if she's running it?
This game is way too random to be competitive, but I see people disconnect in the loading screen if the killer offering is hidden. I'm just saying you're overstating the danger. No key in the world can save you if you can't find the hatch. Just my two cents.

I get what your saying something akin to pathway's changing as the map progresses. After a gen gets done some pathway's get removed while new ones take their place. If a survivor falls off the map they get randomly dropped somewhere on the map same with the Killer. I think the problem with the idea is that Killers like the Trapper would rule that map idea and while its not bad I think counter play is mum here.
I see nothing wrong with this.
(Trapper main btw.)

I dunno if it's the same thought but I just had the mental image of five towers in the sky with no ground visible, like it's just skybox -- but linking the towers are large, wind swept bridges that make you feel like you're going to fall off into the skybox. Maybe make the ground quake and become more unstable the more generators are done.
That might be cool.
-
They've kept me entertained for over 1,000 hours. I'm not the most hardcore player but every game has growing pains. You kind of expect it.
My vision of the game doesn't match the majority of the vocal playerbase I think, but it's fine now...even if they made everything a bit easy/fair.

So run around like a chicken with its head cut off and not do any gens and not look for ruin? I mean this is so dumb to me. It felt so dumb because I had no clue what to do. Its def hard as a solo queue.
The best thing you can do against Ruin if you don't want to search for the totem is to finish the gen. It takes 60 seconds to move from Stage 1 to Stage 2, and another 60 seconds to go from Stage 2 to Stage 3. It takes 80 seconds to complete a generator from zero. If you're already on a generator, finish it before going for the save and ruin does not exist.
(and yes, that invalidates the entire Undying/Ruin meta, outside of the fact they can see your aura if you run past a totem.)
Generally you have an idea on where the Hag's "nest" is because it's the area she's in. If you're the survivor going for the save, run around and pop as many traps as you can. You're not going to get all of them, but she'll have to redo her traps and that takes time.
Most Hags will hook a survivor, then draw a trap under the hook. Again, keep in mind you have 60 seconds to complete the save. What you do is run up on the Hag as soon as she puts the trap down to pop it. If she's using Make your choice, she wants to get away from the hook. She's also really slow. Just be aggressive on unhooks and deny her perk once you realize she's running it.
Is it practical to do every match and every save? Not really, but survivors need to remember the killer is yours to control. It's like a yappy dog that bites. Put it on a leash and lead it around, but don't let it bite you.
-
@megswifey said:
I usually run over her traps beforehand so that she needs to draw them again, and then make your choice won't work because she's there! It's the only big brain move I can think of other than having a flashlight on hand lol
This is the correct answer. As soon as the Hag picks up a survivor the others should be running around and popping as many traps as you can. Don't let her build her web.

It would have to be on a character I use a lot and have something about it that I like.

An ebony mori, or even a green mori are the strongest things Killers can bring because they significantly shorten the game down.
For ebony, you reduce the win condition from 12 hooks to four hooks, which is even more powerful if you're nasty and immediately tunnel the first hooked guy out of the game.
For green, like I said above, three survivors are easy to pressure into no generators being done, easy win.
Mori's are just an easy win for the Killer. You might not 4K if you're terrible at the mechanics of Killer, but if you're even decent, you'll kill most of the survivors without effort.
We agree with each other, a killer's skill is the big deciding factor in all of this. My argument is that if everyone got mori'd, they were probably going to die anyway. It's just like being one/two hooked because your team didn't save you. You just got a special intimate moment with the killer instead of floating up to the sky.
Also while I'm at it bring back the Brand New Parts. I want to see modern killers poop themselves when 4 gens are done 30 seconds into the match.
Also bring back pallet vacuum kthx.

Except it doesn't work like that. It actually becomes extremely easy to pressure the remaining survivors if you immediately remove one from the game as once you hook one of the three, the second is forced to rescue and heal and the third is being chased by you, meaning no one is doing generators.
The only chance the survivors have to win is by forfeiting altruism or the killer is simply inefficient and gets looped for 2-3 minutes and allows the other two survivors to do generators for free.
Even the weak link can hold M1 on a generator. It's why four survivors is much harder to pressure since there is always someone on a generator, progressing the game, whereas with three, you're not.
I feel like the survivors I go against are much harder to hook/down than most people. The entire bloodlust outcry went completely over my head too. Don't get me wrong, eliminating a survivor is a good thing as a killer, but I've never seen a situation where everything collapses in on itself when the first survivor dies.
Then you lose two survivors. Okay. Then another, then it's a hatch game. I get that.
...I simply don't believe a mori changes the outcome of the game. If you were going to stop the killer, he's still getting stomped. If the killer was going to stomp you even without a mori, it's just killing you with flair.
Using a mori as a game changing offering kinda goes over my head too, but I believe Mori should be how it used to be where you were mori-able on first down and didn't need to be hooked, and NOED shouldn't be a totem and activate as soon as the exit gates are powered. These are wildly unpopular opinions in the current crop of players, but I haven't really seen a reason to change my mind.
-
Ya'll laugh, but you lose the weak link on your team to a mori and you don't have to rescue them anymore. The rest of you loop the killer and escape. You've played matches where you don't get hooked once, right? An offering does not change the killer's loadout.
-
I was walking through Autohaven Wreckers as the Nurse. Minding my own business. It was the start of the match. You know, just kinda feeling things out. Slowly floating around.
I walked through a pallet and suddenly it smashed on top of me. I jumped really bad and hit my knees on the underside of my table. One of those creatures they call 'survivors' began twitching rapidly before leaving scratch marks all over the place.
It was a long time ago, but there's nothing scarier in this game than survivors. You can hit them with every kind of weapon imaginable and if they lightly rub it they will stop bleeding and move around like nothing ever happened. You can only hope your outfit is enough to make them a little wary to keep from devouring you.
-
Nah, it's not a mori. It has the same effect though.
It's also crucially important to Michael Myers as a character. He is evil incarnate and does what he wants. He does not play the trials by your rules. Every time you run into the shape, you have to keep that in the back of your mind. This could be the match that he just deletes you straight out of the game with no warning.
-
Something a lot of people overlook is how much pressure the killer loses when he kills someone with a mori. The remaining 3 survivors don't have to stop what they're doing to go and unhook the (now) dead survivor. If people were messing around then sure, the game could snowball really quickly, but if the killer is having a little trouble getting survivors down in the first place, that's a loss of 3 gens.
Start using ebony mori in your games, you'll see it's not the instant win that it seems like.
-
I'm a Trapper main.
I know the maps/routes survivors take but Trapper has gotten a really big stealth buff over the years:
They keep adding new killers.
Nobody knows how to handle Trapper anymore I swear. Into the trap ya go lil cute thing.

God I wish I was that cool.
-
I get every killer because I play the game a lot, not out of any special desire for the killer
That said I'm going to probably plop victor down as a spy and swap between the two when I can get an easy down. Otherwise I'll just play Charlotte like I play any M1 killer.
-
Santa Trapper but when wearing a santa suit his bear traps turn into present wrappings and survivors caught in the traps become wrapped in a Christmas present.
You know you want it.

Two things:
1) He gets an automatic time out for disconnecting. You can't do that for free anymore.
2) Edit out the names. It's considered naming and shaming.

'Ate Shelter Woods.
Love Thompson House.
Simple as.
-
You know how on the old school maps you can look up and see large generator poles sticking out everywhere, or on Haddonfield how you can see the lightbulbs flicker if the generators aren't done in that area?
Midwich is easy to get turned around in and has no generator tells as far as I know. Even the clock tower puzzle is hard to figure out.
I like the atmosphere though.
-
Because Bill Gates, Jim Ryan and Doug Bowser have to sniff and lick your data packets and that causes a slight delay.
-
I personally find Demogorgon to be one of the weakest of the cast. The ones I see usually try to lunge at you during vaults or pallets. The stun from a failed pounce is enough to let you run another loop. Go up to the window like you're going to vault. If his mouth is open, then don't.
His strength isn't really that strong. It's his portals. You'll either see two strategies. The Demogorgon will either place the portals on generators, or next to generators.
If they're on generators, destroy them. Every time he opens his mouth he'll see you through killer instinct. You can't let him watch you do generators.
If they're off to the side a bit, the Demogorgon is using his portals for travel. Leave those up, but watch them when you do the gen. The Demogorgon only has a limited number of portals and if you finish the generator in that area and leave the portal up he's a lot weaker through the rest of the match. He has a teleport to the middle of nowhere. How exciting.
In a chase outside of the lunge he's just a normal killer. Do what you always do. Die, I mean, loop.
-
Stake Out.
Unless the killer is a stealthy one, you're always aware of if you're on the edge of the killer's terror radius or not. No tricks from the ambiance. Either the icon lights up or it doesn't.
Plus effortless great skill checks are great. Don't pretend you get constantly great skill checks 100% of the time.
-
To my understanding and I may be wrong but...
It has to do with the placement of the main building, the house and the shack. (Don't quote me on this but it's like, 80% certainty.)
I think Badham 1 is your default map before it got split up.
Badham 2 the road outside is more horizontal where theres more space between the house, ambulance and preschool while the shack road is shorter.
Badham 3 is more vertical where there's more road between the school and shack where the house is closer with less road.
Badham 4 is the smol version where both roads are short.
Badham 5 is when both roads are long.
I am pulling all of that out of my butt but I'm pretty sure I'm right.
-
It's alright. I know Ruin/Undying is the meta but I think it's over-rated. Sweat teams know the totem spawns. Yeah it delays them but then you're just running with your character's base kit. (Which can also be alright.)
Surveillance on plague is kinda odd, because you can puke on a gen and watch the survivor icons in the bottom left corner and if one of them suddenly get sick without you puking on them, then well now you know a survivor is there and they're afflicted. It's kinda built in for you.
I'm all ears can be nice if they're already injured, but you have an add on that reveals survivor auras when they puke so if you're really trying hard, then you have perk/add on overlap.
...and reading that back over makes me realize I'm just showing negatives.
I like Nemesis/Play with your food on Plague. They're under broken status and you're moving a lot faster to catch up to them, and Corrupt Intervention is always nice. I also like Monitor and Abuse or Tinkerer. Sneaking up on a broken survivor can be absolutely devastating no matter how good they are.
Just my two cents though.
-
Self Care survivor side and Discordance Killer side.
I may not even use self care the entire match survivor side and stay injured, but it makes me feel bold enough to take risks. If I take a hit, oh well. I can fix it even if everyone else is hammering gens.
Discordance because it takes a lot of the guesswork out of patrolling. Survivors will pair up on gens even against killers like Legion at red ranks. They do not care, and thus make my life easier.
-
Any killer that makes me think they're bad and make me drop my guard against them.
Every time I swear.
-
Heavy moderation kills a community. One ban here. One ban there. Where did everyone go?
Be happy there are people willing to bait you. They're not infinite in supply.
-
Normally I'd go to feedback and suggestions for this but I'm lazy.
You know what I wanna see? A killer that gains strength and moves (much) faster the more you look at him/her/it. Including when you see its aura.
They haven't done that yet and I think it would be a neat way to turn things on its head.
-
Atta boy my dude.
Have fun with it. It's a toy.
-
Let's focus on getting bikinis for our current characters, then we can go full on gender swapping.
Baby steps.
-
You can only play one at a time, so out of frustration people get mad at Mr. Paper mask. He should double down on his solo nature and fast running and simply rename himself.
The Leg. Or Teenage Canadian power fantasy.
Stealth players don't like him because he reveals them, and you can't mend and click your flashlight at the same time so tryhards don't like him.
Legion is the killer that doesn't really have a gimmick other than jogging menacingly at you, so wait until you meet Frank's Dad. The original.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcltSOl7yZ0Edit: Never stop slashing.
-
Ghostface and Plague. Not because I hate them but I used Auric Cells to buy them instead of buying them through the steam store and so I didn't get the unique item piece for Ghostie or Jane.
Not a huge deal, but I regret buying them wrong.
-
Spirit. A lot of people pick up Spirit because they hear how strong she is...and that kinda muddies the field if you get what I mean.
Yeah she's unstoppable if she plays perfectly, but what killer isn't?
-
I was fixing to say it just waste their offering slot, but others beat me to it.
-
I don't think so. If you were smart you'd put on your best nature documentary voice and follow behind the stealther and talk about them to an unseen audience while describing their behaviors with enthusiasm.

People need to be aware that people across t'interweb are human too, with feelings and rich lives with their own stories to tell. The word is "sonder". Also, a lot more empathy is required. People may disagree on things, but there's no need to act aggressive because of it.
Actually I gave up my humanity was absorbed into the internet in the explosion of 1312. While I was waiting for the internet to be invented I succumbed to madness and now, well, here we are.

I was playing Myers with a Tombstone piece and insta killed a claudette at the beginning of the match due to feeding. She turned out to be rank 20, and I don't think she knew I was there when I grabbed her.
Welcome to Dead by Daylight Claudette enjoy your stay.

The game started taking itself a lot more seriously. When it was peer to peer you could load into a game with less than 4 survivors and it would just auto complete a gen. (If 3 survivors loaded in, you'd only need to repair 4 gens etc.)
You could load in alone and only need to repair 2 gens. No end game collapse. Killer couldn't close the hatch. Killer may also have whispers. Top notch fun!
-
I do. I used to send in bug reports when they misspelled the cosmetics for Nurse when she came out, and though I didn't report it Hag's story has a misspelling in like the latter part of the pages.
I get it, proofreading isn't easy and it's extremely easy to gloss over something you think is done correctly, but it's still funny when companies mess up. Where would we be if game companies didn't mess up spelling? We'd have a lot less memes.
-
Here's how I'd change Beast of Prey:
When you hit a survivor, they get the deafened effect for 15 seconds and cannot see the killer's red stain. The heartbeat is right on top of you for the duration of the effect.
Go ahead and lose track of the killer, prey. Whatcha gonna do? Gonna run like a little rabbit or scurry off into a hidey hole?
-
Well, Wraith doesn't chase. You're better off surprising people and doing hit and runs. Your power is stealth. Be BONG BONG sneaky.
To chase better, find maps on the internet with the basic layout of the maps this game has. Yes pallets etc will be random but landmarks are static, pretend you're playing those maps and look at routes you want to try to take. (If you're Trapper, think about where you'd trap on those maps.)
A lot of time I chase survivors I'm not following directly behind them - I'm cutting them off because I know the map and I know where they're running. If they're not looking behind them to see me break off (you can see the survivor turn their head if they are watching btw) Map knowledge is huge.
As for survivor, did you know if you're able to walk, do it for a little bit and you'll make the killer drop bloodlust? It's really useful if you're not using pallets to make them drop it.
Really, just study tiles and figure out how to efficiently run them. There's really only one right way to do each tile, and an experienced killer will be ready and hoping you'll mess it up. Dead Hard can extend a chase for another minute if you do it at a pallet. (Don't use it to stop a hit unless you're desperate. The game will leave you exhausted and twitching on the floor sometimes.)
Do your homework before the big test. Also the big test is a hulking killer with a heavy weapon. Have fun!
-
-
Sloppy Butcher? Check.
Coulrophobia? Check.
Exposed Status? Check.
Oh yeah. It's self care time.
-
Trapper. He forces you to learn the maps in a way no other killer does.
-
Legion. His power has trouble downing people sure, but with the right add ons people are running around one shot. Slap on Discordance and Monitor and Abuse and things get nasty real quick.
-
The Blight with Deathslinger's Gun.
Blight comes running in out of nowhere and just machine guns syringes at the survivors.
brrrrrrrt.
-
They just need an easy way (like, rank 20 can intuitively find it easy) to find generators on indoor maps. That's the worst part for me.
