I played during the time they did remove the dc penalties and it was much better experience if anything. Not to mention I saw very little change compared to how it normally was or is now honestly. Obviously everyone has different experiences but I’m not gonna cry cause I lost out on 20k extra bp and simply queue again as nothing is lost when a match ends that matters.

It’s just a fact you can’t know or will queue for a match that’s going to be miserable. DBD is full of unfair and broken stuff which is out of player control. You can’t expect people to not play entirely cause a small portion of the game is a problem as the game would die out. You legitimately can’t stop people from leaving a match or ruining it in a multitude of ways and this isn’t just a DBD issue.

The only real solution that’s plausible would be a surrender button otherwise with how DBD is you can still find easy loopholes to get out early. The dc penalty can easily be passed so it’s currently serving little purpose but to annoy us with inconsistent WiFi

I pointed to chaos as it’s incredibly popular and reflects on the base game. People myself included generally do not want to go back to the boring meta and sweat fest the game can be. Running the same five builds just to do anything isn’t fun and the game modes breathed fresh air into the game. It’s an asymmetrical game so by nature it’s never going to be balanced enough for anything competitive without a stupid amount of restrictions.

It’s not even about making people happy it’s about making them want to stay, that there time is being valued to the point where sitting through the miserable stuff is also rewarded, to work towards something. With someone with thousands of hours bloodpoints are no longer an incentive and rift/archive is paywalled. People currently only have no major incentive to stay other than fun if they aren’t having fun they’ll just leave you can’t stop that apparent from addressing the actual issue of why are these players leaving and unsatisfied

Yeah that's the issue. Fixing the things that make people DC sounds good on paper until you realize that includes but is not limited to:

    1. Going down/being hooked/being found first.
    2. Going down/being hooked/being found AT ALL.
    3. Getting a map they don't like.
    4. Going against a killer they don't like.
    5. A gen getting done too fast.
    6. A hex totem getting cleansed too fast.
    7. Getting flashlight or pallet saved.
    8. When the killer brings a mori
    9. Someone bringing perks they don't like. (And contrary to what seems to be popular belief, OP or broken perks are not the only perks people DC against. I've seen DCs because of No mither, flashbang, lightborn, franklin's demise, BBQ, Ruin, Dragon's Grip, Trail of torment, Haunted grounds, Blast Mine and Dramaturgy).

People are not DC-ing because a match is miserable, they are DC-ing the moment the game looks like it MIGHT go south. Now lets talk about what you said about fixing the reasons people DC. Not including 8 and 9, all the reasons I listed are just part of the game. The game or mechanic is built around those features. You cannot fix why people are DC-ing when the reason they're DC-ing is a built-in, core aspect of the game or (in totems' and pallet/flashlights' case) mechanic.

  • I didn't think he would. I was thinking there's no possible way they could make D&D fit. But they did. And I think they honestly did a very good job. Sure, Vecna might be a slight bit too weak rn, but that's not what this is about, and I think aesthetically and thematically he fits in well

  • @DredgeyEdgey said:

Ngl not reading all that. But if th entity can obtain pyrmid head and vecna a demi god it can hold dracula

OK ik you didn't read it, but he kind of explained why vecna and pyramid head are still nothing compared to dracula

  • He actually sounds on par with the entity in that case. So the working theory is that the Entity is based on the Lovecraftian gods, many of which exist outside the realm of...existence...as little sense as that makes. It all depends on where in that hierarchy the entity is.

Castlevania Dracula will beat all the great old ones and most of the outer gods. But once you get into beings like yog-sothoth and The Black Goat with A Thousand Young, you have a problem. These two exist beyond the boundaries of reality, space, or time. They exist outside of our existence.

Then once you get into their parents, Darkness, The Nameless Mist, and Nyarlathotep (who some suspect the entity to be a stand in for) who are pretty much the reason anything exists. Nyarlathotep specifically, seems to fulfill a very similar role, being the cosmic embodiment of chaos, and ruler over all the great old ones (gods on earth). He is also known as the crawling chaos for this reason. Darkness, as the name implies the embodiment of darkness and is pretty much one massive, sentient, void that can Devour reality. The Nameless Mist, being the youngest, exists outside of reality, and can manipulate it as well as space and time as it sees fit. It, like it's siblings, is immortal and omnipresent

And then once you get into their parent, Azathoth, I don't care who you are, you're not winning that. Azatoth is the reason anything exists. Even beings that exists outside of existence, only exist because of Azathoth.

TLDR: it depends on where in the lovecraftian family tree the entity falls that really determines whether or not Dracula is too powerful. The entity is definitely NOT Azathoth, but if it's in the same generation as yog-sothoth and The Black Goat with A Thousand Young, Dracula might be on par. However, if it's in the same generation as Nyarlathotep, the Nameless Mist, and Darkness, especially with Nyarlathotep bringing forth Azathoth's will, I don't see Dracula winning that, unfortunately.

I feel like the skull is teasing that we're going to get an announcement about the game. I don't see them releasing him as a killer prior to the game's release (especially far enough in advance we don't know when the release date is) and even then, they might plan it to be a chapter or two after to avoid spoilers right when the game releases. Although I'm excited either way since they've been teasing the same exact thing about the game since the announcement and finally teased something new.

My guess is the release/launch date of Frank stone will be revealed during the anniversary. It would make sense considering they've just dropped two teasers for the game

Hopefully you'll excuse me for not really caring about the odd "wholesome moment" when a member of this community got butt hurt about losing a game and told me he hopes I have to watch my children die.

I've been playing this game since 2019 and I can count on no more than two hands how many times I've had decent post-game interactions with people. There aren't enough hands on the world to count the toxic interactions. The scales are in no way even there.

And this goes back to what I said about not every game of dbd being the same. I've definitely had more positive interactions Post-game than negative ones. I have also been playing since 2019, though some would argue more like 2020, since I started at the tail end of 2019. It is understandable why you wouldn't care at this point, after such a message. But it doesn't mean that others don't care.

It is unfortunate when it happens (especially when it happens often, such as in your case), but again, we can't just remove something when we're only looking at the bad side of things. That is intentionally missing an entire side of the coin.

  • It also can result in nice conversations, and even spark friendship.

You're right. Nothing can excuse vile behavior such as you described. But not every game of DBD is like that. Some are toxic, some are nice, some just say gg and move on. Me personally, what I would get in 24 hours of dbd is something I get in two games of COD.

Post-game chat can indeed be toxic. It can also be the opposite. It's how online contact works. You flip a coin. Like mooks said, if it bothers you, you can deactivate it. No one's going to blame you, and most will probably understand. But it shouldn't be removed just because it CAN be toxic. Since it CAN be positive as well, going through with this change would also get rid of honestly really wholesome moments, all because people only looked at the negatives

Imagine being a dev and being "ok" with a character consistently defeats 70% of the opponents and the opponents are always giving up because it is so unfair and unfun.

I agree with OP that the dev priorities are very disorganized and lack empathy.

They might not be fine with it, but they can't exactly change her if people just keep suiciding on hook. By inflating her kill rate this much, BHVR can't get accurate data and decide what ACTUALLY needs to be changed.

  • @sinkra said:

There's no need to list the reasons why it's op, it's been done already. SM is sitting at a 70% kr and is terrible to play against. In other games something so op would be hotfixed within 48 hours. How can the devs be fine with this?

The devs are probably fine with it because the 70% kill rate likely has very little to do with her being OP and is mainly a result of people suiciding on hook

  • @Uotsumi said:

I repeat: "Let's restore the original perk design! It is the information of the location of the 3 generators in recent contact that fills the gap between Solo and SWF, not the 6% speed bonus."

In that case, if the aura reading is what's closing the gap between swf and solo, and we're making changes to close that gap like the hud, we should make the 3 generator locations basekit and leave the 6% the way it is

They could just give us shards for dailies that would help a lot. Currently I treat them like they are not existing.

I don't really think there is a whole lot to go on, most of the good stuff from literature is adapted in some way or form.

Although if i had to pick one, i'd go with this one below, while it is a ghostface related story, it is still an original one created by the mask IP holder himself.

Could work as a Survivor only chapter.

I'm wondering if the dbd ghost face's real name is based on that

    Literature published online counts, right?

I'm picking the Parahumans series, specifically its first novel Worm.

My pick for the killer is Taylor Hebert, AKA Skitter, Weaver, and Khepri. I'd be pulling largely from the climax of the book for her appearance (so Khepri over Skitter or Weaver), and her power would involve utilising swarms of insects as tracking and harassment tools. She'd make a great killer, especially in terms of aesthetic and animations. Plus, I'm pretty sure she'd be the first instance of the killer being the protagonist of their source material...

There's not really a good pick for survivor. Maybe Lisa, AKA Tattletale? Most of the important characters have superpowers that would break the suspension of disbelief, imo. Some skins for established characters based on their costumes could easily work though.

I mean sure. I don't really read anything online though, so I definitely won't know what it is.

I'm confused? The offering was a noose cause of the people hanging in the trial who were killed how does that imply self harming

Because the noose could cause triggers in people who were/are suicidal and surely you don't need anyone to explain the link between a noose and suicide

  • Mine's been decent.

Most people play casually in my mmr it seems.

Escape rate about 50%, goes to 40% if I get multiple campers/tunneled, which rarely happens.

  • 2 things.

    1. "They don't have the license? So bring new skins." Isn't how this works. They need Capcom permission to add anything from their games. If they didn't have the license and added an RE skin, they could get in serious legal trouble.

    2. They still have the license for RE, or else everything RE whether it's skins or characters would be removed from the store.

    3. As I mentioned before, they need permission from Capcom to add anything from RE, they can't just add it willy-nilly

Not true. Many main buildings have good loops, every shack (with the exception of dead dawg) is a good loop. A good amount of maps have jungle gyms/L-walls/T-walls that are good as well.

  • @Nazzzak said:

I enjoy main building on Dead Dawg

Should keep in mind the loop I think @Nazzzak is referring to becomes much weaker if the killer breaks a couple of walls beforehand.

That build can work on almost any killer, though Nightfall would make it more interesting to say the least.

Once survivors know you have Dragons Grip they only fall for it only once much like Overcharge. You may get more value if you swap out Dragons for Make Your Choice.

That's probably true, but I chose Dragons grip and the addons for getting that first down, which will get the ball rolling.

  • @Nebula said:

I absolutely love running builds like this, depending on your totem spawns it’s entirely possible they just lose no matter what. So much pressure once you get rolling.

Exactly. The very first time I ran this build, my Devour Hope was right next to a generator three of the survivors were working on, but it was blocked from their view by a bunch of boxes

  • Again, I think I'm in a lower mmr than everyone else because I don't run into all this that much.

Maybe not pre-game lobby, but definitely in game. I feel like pre-game would result in more lobby dodging

  • Basekit kindred (at least letting all the survivors see each other) would be another good start.

Edit: I say basekit bond as well.

  • It's not really that simple. Yes, I agree they need to stop buffing the killer role in general, but there is a list of individual killers who need some help. For example, the changes doctor is getting are really good for him and are going to make him feel much better to play.

  • Unfortunately, it's not really that simple. Sure, they can stop giving general killer buffs, but that still leaves an assortment of killers that still need to be buffed on the individual level. Examples include twins and trapper. So they can't just not buff killers or certain ones are going to get left in the dust

Those 'single movies' all generated franchises because they were popular and had unique and lasting impacts on the genre. Can it be argued that some milk the same thing for too long to the point that they become bad? Of course, but they keep making them because people still like the original premise.

I don't think we have enough predictive power to go "oh yeah that movie that got some mediocre reviews this year, that's where the future of horror is." A year down the line people are gonna see a picture of Megan and ask "who's the annoying child?" not "wow, tiktok dance girl."

I'm not saying we can't have modern licenses, I'm just saying there's a big difference between something that was hyped for a month then died, and something worth including in the game long term.

I guess my point is it doesn't necessarily have to be a franchise. It is most likely going to be a franchise, but something can be popular without being a franchise. They are few and far between, and even fewer are specifically requested for DBD, but two that come to mind are The Cabin in The Woods, and The Babadook.

The Ring began as a novel from 1991 and a movie adaptation from 1998. We have had two and a half decades for The Ring to cement itself as a horror icon. People remember The Ring, because it was worth remembering. Movies released less than 1 year ago are not comparable, because there has been no time to prove they are iconic of the genre, or of anything at all, or if anyone will even remember they exist.

But again, even regarding information like that, there's still movies and franchises that gain popularity insanely quick. It doesn't take two and a half decades to cement yourself as a horror icon. Movies and other franchises have shown that it can take a lot less time.

in 6 years, A Quiet Place has proven popular enough to produce a sequel and a prequel.

The Conjuring made a casual 319 million and the Conjuring 2 made more.

The Fnaf movie was the highest grossing horror movie of 2023 and is Blumhouse's highest-grossing movie ever (even with a release on streaming), which shows how popular the games are.

Even Until Dawn, while it has no direct sequels or prequels, was popular enough to lead to the creation of similar games such as The Quarry and the Dark Pictures anthology.

All these came out after 2010. And most of these became popular the year they were released or the year after they were released. So while two decades is a good amount of time for a franchise/movie/game to cement itself as a horror icon, it is not at all required.

  • @anarchy753 said:

I think the big thing to consider is franchises. I'm personally not eager for them to pick up licenses of flavour of the month rubbish like Megan that disappear after a year or so and then we're left with them lingering in the game. Like genuinely, it was a pretty bad movie that only got attention for "wow, she's evil but she's dancing in the trailer, she's so sassy, slaaaay," and it did absolutely nothing new or creative with an overused plotline.

I think the best licenses are ones that have shown they stand up to time. Old horror is iconic, but newer entries like Saw have shown persistent success over recent times. One-off movies like that don't really deserve to stand alongside horror icons like what we have.

While I understand that perspective, I feel like it fails to see the bigger picture. Icons of horror are born from singular movies, that studios usually ruin the magic of by making so many movies for it.

I'll use the ring/ringu as an example. It became an icon of horror off the first movie. The TV scene is iconic even people who don't like horror know it, and the design of sadako/samara was so popular it influences the designs of ghosts today.

Then, because it was so popular, it spawned a few sequels/prequels. But those aren't what most people associate with the movie. They see that first iconic scene of the girl crawling out of the TV, they remember the character picking up the phone and being told 7 days, and they remember the long hair flowing in front of her face, revealing only her eye. And all of these were made iconic by the first movie

  • @Krazzik said:

Depending what it is, sure. Being oldschool doesn't automatically make it better, just like being modern doesn't make it worse. People just want popular licences regardless.

m3gan would be cool but I dunno how they'd make her unique, but they've done it before.

I agree that people would want popular licenses regardless of age, but I feel like older ones are going to be more popular just because they've been around long enough.
