yes, i've always felt like dredge's problem isn't necessarily his power but the fact that lockers can be so scarce on some maps. i always have a terrible time on swamp for this reason. if lockers just spawned with generators, it could help.
An idea I saw proposed a while back is dredge can also teleport to chests, which would give the dredge player more places to teleport without necessarily HAVING to increase the amount of anything in the trial, because I'm pretty sure more lockers spawn when dredge is the killer anyway

Not to derail the topic, but have you ever pet a wolf? Like an actual wolf? It's really fun, but you really got to scratch so they can feel it through their fur

They need to add a roll over emote so we can give belly scratches

The problem I see is when certain perks are way too similar to others. Most perks are feel like are different enough to be their own perks but things like unforeseen and trail of torment, and bow dark sense and that new Belmont perk

you were so eager to back up a bigot that you misunderstood what i meant when i said "new".
i didn't mean new as in, starting to play right now.
i meant new as in all their queer fans will leave and be replaced by the bigots.
and the way you talk to me is so obvious too. you're so excited to be able to go a little mask off against us queer players. "do with that what you will". you love that we're seemingly helpless, and you're so desperate to rub my nose in it that you neglected your reading comprehension to do so.
it's almost like doing collabs like this emboldens bigots, which you are proving. i hope bhvr are taking notes.
That was actually my fault for misinterpreting what you said. I thought you were just talking about fnaf fans. Now that I'm more understanding, ignore what I said. My apologies

it's crazy how YOU don't realise, or simply don't care, that their lgbt support is hollow after collaborating with a bigot. not just a bigot, but a bigot who has used his wealth to support groups and politicians that want to make our lives worse.
bhvr's lgbt support used to feel genuine, and after seeing this announcement, it feels fake and it feels like i've been lied to this whole time. "keep in mind that bhvr didn't have to do anything for the LGBT community" yeah well they did, and now they're taking it back. you - who acts like you're so enlightened and so much smarter than everyone else - don't seem to understand how that has crossed a line.
just post "queers shut up" next time, go mask off with it. bhvr is on your side now, get emboldened, call me a slur while you're at it.
bhvr, announce the harry potter collab next! your new audience will love it.
This video was posted to YouTube after the controversy became widely known.
This audience is not new. Fnaf was widely requested before and after the controversy.
Do with that what you will.
-
Well its fnaf's 10th anniversary so...
-
BHVR struggles enough making one killer and balancing it in a way that appeals to both data and the community. Having to do it with two would be a literal nightmare I imagine

9 years. DBD released in 2016.
I'm talking about fnaf having its 10 year anniversary this year, so all the big announcements are out. By the time the chapter rolls out, it will likely be fnaf's 11th and, yes will be DBD's 9th
-
10 year anniversary, fnaf being one of the most requested chapters ever. Maybe a mix of both. Might just be a trend of them showing things early like they did with Castlevania.
-
It might be because of popularity. The first RE chapter was a huge success, so they announce Project W early, and then fnaf is one of the most requested licensed chapters, plus its the game series 10th anniversary.

Dredge seems to have a noticeable amount of similarity with the entity, almost like it's a little baby one. And if it grew, I'm imagining it could possibly defeat the entity. I'm fairly certain the only thing capable of beating the entity is another entity

Ah yes, I'm sure making these characters owned by other corporate entities completely free will go swimmingly and not cause any issues or legal trouble whatsoever/s

I think 2v8 is better for killers and if we’re being honest that’s the role BHVR wants to feel more attractive. Not really sure how the regular queue is negatively impacted by 2v8.
It's really just the 400% BP incentive
All the survivors are going to the game mode that's going to shower them in BP

The base game that people say is stale, and suicide on hook for any little reason? That dbd?
And how long would it be before people had the same complaints about the new game mode, which would be arguably more stale with a tiny number of killers/classes and all players being silo-ed into one role by the killer or class that they choose?

Can they do that?
I've seen it said "5d on 2v8 event". Is it gonna go away after 5d?
Besides, they (Developers) should've thought of that before implementing it. Such q times just actually making the game unplayable, it's just way too long, I'm not even sure that my actual match is gonna be longer.
Yeah once the events over, your q times will be normal so yeah in approximately 5 days, you be good

Believe me… survivors aren’t complaining about being slugged due to hook deadzones. If that’s your understanding of why survivors complain about slugging, it’s really tone deaf.
Survivors don't like slugging regardless of why it happens. I've seen slugging complained about because of intentional bleedouts, slugging for the 4k, Hook deadzones, or because of their own builds
-
@BeardedSenpai said:
I don't really see the issue I rarely got slugged to begin with.. so whoever complained about them getting slugged they're entitled survivors. Even when I play killer I have no issue with getting hooks so the change was unnecessary and I'm sticking to that baby killers and survivors just need to stop complaining and actually get better at the game
Your experience is not indicative of the rest of the player base. Slugging is one of the most complained about survivor issues, only really behind tunneling and camping. And plenty of killers would rather hook survivors than slug them, but have been forced by either the survivors or RNG into situations where slugging is the only realistic option if they want to win.
You said in your very first post ask the community how they feel about the change. I implore you to see how the community, especially survivors, feel about slugging. There's an example right above me.
-
@BeardedSenpai said:
All of you realize slugging doesn't bother me if you slug me that means I know you're salty 🤷🏾♂️ it's not the survivors fault the killer couldn't catch them..
Salt slugging is not what this is about.
This was done to address situations where the killers only option was to slug and waste 4 minutes because they were in a hook deadzone

Sadly, it isn't really the game mode that I was envisioning. There are too many issues even disregarding the buggy nature of it. My main issue with it, which destroys my enjoyment is there is little to no mind game. This is very much a looping game for the majority of it. With all auras being revealed every time a Generator is popped there is no ability to do any mode but Looper. The only way you could try to avoid being instantly revealed is if you are an all SWF team calling out warnings of when a Gen is going to pop so everyone could jump in lockers except the one finishing it.
I just don't like having to be silo-ed into a role. Still enjoy the game mode, but prefer being able to customize my build.

3 vs 10 this is loopsided and need to be around the same amount
Its an asymmetrical game, its not a 1:1 ratio, so no, it doesn't need to be around the same amount.
-
I've stopped playing the mode, but this doesn't surprise me. It's how dbd players are, they were bound to show up in the 2v8 eventually
-
They could make the 2v8 a annual or biannual game mode that lasts from 2 weeks to a month.
It would stop us from going down a huge rabbit hole of unnecessary changes, while also appealing to people who really like the game mode.
And, most importantly, they need to, at the very least, let all the game modes/modifiers be available in kyf. I can get them not keeping it public permanently but me and my friends would love to kyf with all the different game modes.
-
Because everyone wants to play killer with their friends. Even hard-core survivor mains are playing killer because it's a brand new experience of not being alone as killer. That's why the survivor side has an insane bloodpoint bonus. Too many people want to play killer and there's not enough survivors to match them with
-
That wouldn't be a good idea either. Many threads discussing removals of the DC penalty have made it very clear that both killers and survivors do not enjoy playing with or against bots.
-
@sinkra said:

Yes it will increase killer queues, that means playing killer is really fun in this mode. It would be insane for them to not make this mode permanent because it's too popular.
The popularity of the mode is the problem. Killers spend more time in que and lobbies than they do playing the match. And because the new game mode needs 8 other people, 9 if you solo q, it requires many survivor players which in turn makes the killer que in the regular mode go up.
A game modes popularity will not matter if the game as a whole isn't playable for one role. No matter how many records it breaks, dbd will not have the playerbase to keep two game modes like these around permanently.
-
@sinkra said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769449#Comment_3769449
I'd be very upset if they take it away in 2 weeks. There's no reason to disable it at all, just leave it permanently. If they want to update it they can do that while leaving it active in the meantime.
The problem with keeping it is the ques of both modes will suffer if the game mode remains for an extended period of time. DBD does not have the player base to support two permanent game modes, and the fact that the game is asymmetrical just adds to that problem
-
@sinkra said:
Most fun I've ever had in the game. I can't go back to 1v4 after this. If 2v8 doesn't stay I'll just quit.
Well to rebalance and add more characters, they're going to shut down the game mode. And that's a good thing because if they keep the game mode, the que times of the normal mode are going to suffer.
-
Because everyone wants to play killer with their friends, and so the survivor side needs incentives so the ques aren't just killers

Plenty of people don't use social media or have time to catch livestreams.
-
The game mode isn't supposed to be balanced. At least not as balanced as the main game.
It's supposed to be a mode where everyone can just mess around with their friends. It's not supposed to be as competitive and not supposed to be taken as seriously.
The fun comes from the chaos
-
1. The community has been asking for this for the majority of the game's life.
2. The chaos is the point of the mode. This game mode is more about having fun with your mates than anything else and is not supposed to be taken super seriously.

It's annoying when a bad player can loop you kinda long, because he is using Windows & Lithe together. That's all what I wanted to say.
But that contradicts itself. If someone is using lithe, they are probably running away from a loop, and bringing windows does not make someone good at looping. You can see all the pallets you want, but it's not going to matter if you don't know how to run them

Very interesting, i admit, but makes no sense at all.
Think for a second.
If the entity can just grab a planet and terraform it at its leisure…. Whats the point of the trials?
Why create a miniplace with 4 guys and a killer generating emotions, when you can easily snatch AN ENTIRE PLANET, put no work on it, and have billions of people and millions of killers generating emotions?
If the entity can manipulate entire planets, the trials makes absolutely no sense.
Its putting more work for literally hundreds of million times less return.
Not to mention, omnipotent beings shouldnt need to feed, which the entity canonically needs, and vecna canonically stopped the entity until he allowed himself to be taken.
Because it is a process, and the trials are part of that process.
A lot of beings, especially in cosmic horror, tend to exert their influence over a location before destroying it, much like the entity.
In dredge, (the fishing horror game not the killer), the overarching antagonist known as The Deity spreads its corruption, madness, and evil influence just as a byproduct of existing. Fogs of madness layer the sea at night. Creatures that range from moderately reasonable mutations to biological impossibilities swim through the oceans. Waterspouts and vines, can become sentient. The book that contains the ritual to wake it up also seems to be alive in some way. And it is only when it is released from from depths of the ocean, that it ravages The Grey Isles, with nothing to hold back its influence.
Ghroth, an outer God from the cthulhu mythos, floats through the universe, destroying planets. It does this by waking other great old ones and outer gods sleeping on the planet, as well as bringing natural disasters that only get worse those closer he gets to the planet.
Nyarlathotep, another outer god, destroys worlds by taking on the form of somebody in power, such as a king or politician, and through propaganda, deception, and manipulation, brings the dominant species of a planet to bring forth their own apocalypse.
Chaos from Castlevania, the antithesis of God, grants certain individuals such as Dracula its power (shoutout to @FreddyVoorhees for that information).
All of these beings exert their influence over a location before they destroy it completely, whether it's on purpose or accident.
Similarly, the entity also spreads this influence over the worlds it consumes before it actually destroys them, and we can see that mentioned in the Arcus entries.
-
Well I made killer concepts for 3 of the upper ranks from Demon Slayer so I guess I've already put too much stock into that idea

I must admit, when anti-facecamp was added to the game, I was super on the fence and against it, fearing that it would disrupt my gameplay too much and give SWFs another super unfun and unfair tool to assert dominance, but after the nerf that the bar didn't start immediately and kicks and environmental destruction would halt it, antifacecamp has become 99,95% a meaningless mechanic.
I still think that it's tough to balance and fine tune, but it appears that BHVR has all but stopped their attempts at doing so. When it got introduced I was scared to even threat into the space around a survivor and took a couple seconds to give hooks a wide berth, but that was totally unneeded. In all my time since the introduction, I personally got to use it exactly once, and as a killer I maybe saw survivors unhooking themselves 2 or 3 times, but only when I was already winning hard and I gave them a big staredown before strolling off. I MIGHT have set up a self unhooking maybe once or twice, but taking extra long searches around the bushes in the area, because I legitly saw a survivor, and when they moved away, this couldhave filled up the bar, but overall its a very weak and nonexistingmechanic.
Here is a thing, BHVR: please fine tune the effect, but whatever you do, let BOTH sides see the bar fill up. Transparency is key with this mechanic, and a killer who sees that he is close to filling up the bar will probably actually leave the area. Being open with the effect for all sides would also help to bring everyone on par what's happening and how the mechanic works, instead of "I believe of you smack the wall next to s hook and turn around 4 times, it slows down the bar enough, to chase a survivor around the hook", just show us the cause and effect and let everyone see it with their own eyes how it works or doesn't, and you will have much more valuable feedback this way.
EDIT: on a sidenote, the number of ACTUAL facecamping and killers staring into my face till I died have actually fully declined to zero. But I still think that the mechanic could be a little bit more effective and pronounced.
With the buffer, they could Amp up the speed at which the bar fills, on top of adding what you said, and letting both killer and survivor see the bar.

Difference is, Killers get to see what the Survivors are bringing in, item wise, so they get to at least make an informed decision before readying up. Survivors don't get the same treatment. They just have to prey it's not an overpowered killer, or the same killer they just faced.
I'll take at least knowing who I'm facing so I can decide if I want to bother with the match.
That's because this is a 1v4 assymetrical game and the game is balanced around killers seeing survivors, and that has been the case for entirety of its life. The killer is supposed to be watching the survivors like a predator watches its prey. The prey has to remain ever vigilant, ready for anything. But that's getting into power role, and isn't what we're talking about. Prestige and username shouldn't be shown though.
Back on topic, what you're asking for is a change that would require 1 to 1 balancing.
If survivors get to block killers, killers get to block perks.
If killers get to see who's swf, survivors get to see what killer they're facing.
If one side has a dc penalty and the other doesn't, both sides have to have it or neither do.
And none of this would be healthy for the game in the long run. All this picking and choosing for one side would require 1 to 1 matches on the other side that would result in the games death
